in my mind, there is a version of episode ix where it isn't retconned that Rey's parents are nobodies, and instead her arc is about making peace with that and forging her own identity. the plot twist is that Finn's also as yet unknown parentage is actually important - maybe he's the son of one of the few surviving senators of the New Republic whose resources can help the Resistance turn the tide. meanwhile Poe realises that they both never had parents and decides to give them the best chosen family experience possible and ropes Leia in as adoptive mother - all part of Poe embracing that he is absolutely in love with that ex-stormtrooper. Rose gets over her feelings for Finn and becomes part of the team, platonically. Rey and Ben both live and never kiss, and we get to find out what a redeemed Sith might look like.

I want to talk about this parallel

Personaly, this is maybe the most beautiful parallel that came out from Obi Wan Kenobi.

We have two girls who now are the ones who will continue the legacy of the people they loved and who loved them.

In Leia's case, she is taking on the legacy of her (adoptive) parents, the Organas.

In Rey's case, she is taking on the legacy of her Masters (who happened to be some sort of paternal and maternal figure), the Skywalkers.

Neither of them are blood related to the people which legacy they're carring on now, but they have earned the right with sweat, tears and blood.

For me that's just such an amazing message to show up and pass on. You don't need to be blood to be family.

Also, another thing I love from this two scenes is The Force Theme.

The Force Theme has always been tided to the Skywalker family (who happens to be the important family of this saga). We listened the Force Theme with Anakin, Luke, Leia and Rey (I think even Padme), all of them Skywalkers at some point.

But now they use this theme also with the Organas, with Bail, Breha and Leia Organa, showing us how the Organa family are just as important as the Skywalker family to the story. Because is thanks to them Leia is the strong, wise, resilient, kind, passionated, smart, resourceful and fearless woman we all know and love, she's all Bail and Breha, is thanks to them many people across the galaxy survived the fist of the Empire, and it's thanks to them the Rebelion rised strong and was able to bring the end of the Empire.

Fixing the sequel trilogy

*Spoilers for Star Wars Episodes VII-IX, if you care.*

Honestly, I think the sequel trilogy could be fixed with some reltively minor changes. I think The Force Awakens is good. A few tweaks, maybe, but overall its solid. The only change I would make is that Finn should go with Rey to the Island to find Luke.

The Last Jedi is where I would change some stuff. I think that Luke becoming jaded and isolated could work, but I think we need some changes to his reasoning. The main thing is that I would ADD more about his reasoning in there. When he goes in to kill Ben, and then doesn't, I think he should be scared of turning to the Dark Side. I don't think Ben should go and destroy the School then and there. I think Luke should have taken some time to think and consult his father and Obi-Wan and Yoda, and come to the conclustion that perhaps the Jedi ways need to die with him, and that he needs to isolate himself so as not to hurt anyone else. I think this would also make the title of the movie much more fitting, also. At first, Luke thinks he needs to be the last Jedi, and then realizes that isn't so. Rey is honestly fine in this movie, too, I think she gets a bit too much hate. I think she's bland, but I don't hate her like so many people seem to. I think she could have similar interactions with Kylo Ren, but then having Finn on the Island with her, she can voice her hesitations and we can have some more of that lovely Finn and Rey chemistry (should be platonic, imo). They worked with each other so well in TFA, and I think that should be preserved. The fight in the throne room can be basically the same, but PLEASE better choreography. The way they fight in the movie would be so ineffective.

The big change to TLJ is eliminating the stupid casino planet subplot. It's just stupid. If you want Poe to have gone too far and need to get in trouble, he can try to mutiny earlier, becasue Holdo won't share her plan, then she can send him to the brig. I think it would be good to have a nice conversation between him and Holdo, where we get an actually good reason for her not initially telling her the plan, then he accepts that, grows, and supports her actions. (I'm not a huge Poe fan, so I can't come up with as good of ideas for him). This could show significant character growth from when he wouldn't listen to authority, (which is definitely shown to be a flaw in the movie, Leia knew better than him) to being a bit skeptical, but ultimately a better soldier.

Finally, The Rise of Skywalker. TROS needs the most changes. First off, the real Palpatine isn't back. What we see is a messed up clone of him. He needs Rey, because this rotten, horrid version of his body is failing. Kylo needs to start questioning the First Order. In the actual movie, he is deeper in than ever, and basically unredeemable, in order to get that big SHOCK later on, but I think that at this point he would actively be questioning his own actions, and might be redeemable. The plot as a whole would need a rewrite, in ways I can't even summarize properly for this post, but basically, Rey can find out she's a Palpatine, or start to accidentally use the Dark Side, or both, early on in the movie, leading her to start isolating herself more and more from everyone. Leia, Chewie, Poe, Finn, etc. The other characters can be worried about her, and THEN we get the huge drop of "holy shit is Palpatine alive?!" via a video message or something. It is LAME to not see that happen on screen.

I actually quite like several aspects of the end of the movie, particularly Ben finally renouncing Kylo and coming to help Rey, fighting his own men on the way. I will say, I think we need one of two things for the ending. 1: completely get rid of the "if you kill a Sith, they posess you" or whatever. It really doesn't line up with established canon, imo, or 2: ONLY Palpatine can do the posession thing, and its because he's just such an evil powerful Sith or whatever. We get that final bit, where Rey has to decide whether to kill Palpatine or let everyone die. She makes up her mind, turns to Palpatine with determination in her eyes, and he grins. He's won. She raises her lightsaber to strike him, and he cackles. She kills him. Ben climbs up out of that pit, seeing Rey with her lightsaber turned towards herself. "No!" he shouts, running towards her. She throws her hand in the air, force-throwing him away from her, tears in her eyes, as she ignites her blade. She falls to the ground, dead, Palpatine, Darth Sidious, the Emperor, finally, FINALLY defeated, as Ben runs towards her. At that point, he can either revive her, or (since that's not really something it is established is possible, healing and resurrection are very different), he holds her and cries over her body, and he then emerges to the surface, to help the Resistance.

Whichever of the two of them isn't dead starts the Jedi Order anew, but with improvements. The end.

Obviously, I'm no professional, but I think these or similar changes, would VASTLY improve the sequel trilogy.

I've seen bits of the Colin Trevorrow script for Episode IX and I've got to say while it had a bit better character work, we definitely dodged a bullet by avoiding the canonization of Gray Jedi. That would've been quite the calamity for the SW universe.

No going back from "Let's get rid of the main attraction and replace them with this wishy washy alternative that don't even really have a core philosophy because that'd be too dogmatic for them." At least this way someone could, in theory, go far enough in the future so that the Jedi Order has returned without having to incorporate the Gray Jedi.

And because I am a bastard, I'm going to ruin it all for you: Literally almost any Emily Dickinson poem can be read/sung to the tune of the Yellow Rose of Texas, or the theme to Gilligan's Island. You're welcome. IV. Favourite Music: Classical, Tribal Trap, Country, Grunge, Classic Rock {stfu, G-N-R and them are not YET classic rock}, 80s Rock/Metal. Broadway Musicals, Rap/R&B, really just about anything. Probably my favourite singers are Eddie Vedder {yes, I know}, Geoff Tate who's is utterly incredible even after 40 years. And honestly? The one thing I miss about Star Wars is the vibes of Reylo and Caltrilla.

Like those ships wrote themselves, had wonderful thematic contrasts, were full of potential for amazing storytelling within the SW universe and all its weird space magic shenanigans, and the creators did... nothing that was worth it with their own material. They took the blandest, most boring path or simply destroyed the female character (I am still mourning Rey Nobody, even though I could care less about canon at this point in my life.)

I was willing to give Jedi Survivor a chance if, somehow, they pulled the "resurrected Trilla" card, but from what I have checked, they didn't. The game may be good, can't say because I haven't checked anything, but without Trilla and her dynamic with Cal (and also seeing Trilla and Cere interact!!)... it just doesn't sound that interesting to me. Respawn came up with such a great character and decided to get rid of her in one game.

Regarding Reylo, I'm not even gonna mention Episode IX because, while I understand people can enjoy it for a bit of fun or find something good in it (and I am truly happy for those people), that movie made me feel like my intelligence was being insulted, so yeah. Mentally, I am still at TLJ era.

Of course this is my personal opinion and experience with SW, which doesn't reflect anyone else and there's no right/wrong approach to this. I don't like indulging too much in the negative, because a) there are people still enjoying SW and Episode IX and b) fandom is for fun, so if you're not having fun..., let go of that fandom. Which is what I did.

However, I miss it sometimes, but for a saga that holds redemption arcs at the center of its narrative/thematic core, they fuck up a lot of them. Only ones which ended where it should, from what I remember, are... Vader and Kallus? And Revan, more or less.

Guess the answer is the same as always: fuck canon, write fanfic. If I ever manage to be a slighty more prolific writer, just a teensy bit, I would love to redo that one Caltrilla fic I dropped after watching Episode IX because I just couldn't engage with anything SW-related after that clusterfuck of a movie. I orphaned it from AO3, but it's still up.

season 5 spoilers and leaks rambles

if it were up to me... adrien would discover monarch’s identity thanks to the monocle he found in s4 finale, independently of ladybug. him and marinette would discover their identities during the 2nd part of kwami’s choice, or at least lb and cn sould have had a moment before they give up their miraculous for the episode and marinette and adrien would discover their identities thanks to their love, and with time they spend together, they would realize lb/marinette and adrien/cn are merging together, they have same mannerism, and basically, the power of their love would be stronger than quantum masking, until one day, they are staing into each others eyes and they can’t even tell - is it mari/lb?? kitty/adrien? 

also nathalie would give adrien the amok ring before he’s off to london, telling him it was his mom’s, and she would want him to have it bla bla.. . and gabriel would give him the second one in the finale, before the wish. the “gabriel helped ladybug and chat noir against monarch” would be a story for the public, but adrien would know the truth.

i don’t love that emilie was revived. it feels as if gabriel won. in the end he did manage to manipulate the world according to his wishes........

also, adrien should be the one to help marinette with the jewels, like he made the amulet for her birthday, he is capable of creating accessories. they would create them together. lb and cn are supposed to be partners, but in s4 and s5 it just seems like all talk no show. this would rebalance their roles as miraculous holders.... and adrien and marinette would metaphorically become parents of the kwamis.

i just can’t believe.... adrien was completely 100% absent from the finale. everything and their mother turned up, all the crossover heroes from around the world... i thought it was miraculous tales of ladybug and chat noir... not miraculous bugnoire while adrien is asleep in london.

I still enjoy the show, it is what it is and i am having fun with it (unlike with SW after ep IX looooool that one was such a trainwreck i am still traumatized)... i just expected something else back when i first began watching the show, and some choices they’ve made just don’t feel right to me, it doesn’t click together like a puzzle, if you know what i mean.
