You heard him before you even laid eyes upon him.

Amidst the beeping machines and the moderate ruckus of the emergency room, Aaron's voice penetrated the air like a sword. The authority dripped like lava from his tone as he badgered Derek for your whereabouts, and before you could shuffle out of the hospital bed that had been your safe haven for the past hour, the cubical curtain surrounding you was suddenly yanked open.

Your movements ceased once you locked eyes with a frowning Aaron Hotchner.

"Hey—"

"Are you insane?"

You looked at him dumbfoundedly.

"Do you have a death wish? Is that it? Or are you just stupid?"

A few feet behind him, you could see Derek and Emily exchanging silent looks between the two of them. Everyone knew that Aaron was notorious for being frigid, and he had a strong impartiality when it came to any of his team members doing something impetuous on the field, but the words seeping out of Aaron's mouth at that moment sounded overtly harsh to those who knew him.

"Hotch—" Derek took a step forward, trying to come to your defense, "—it's not (Y/N)'s fault."

"I'm not talking to you." Aaron's response was cutting and final. It baffled Derek enough for him to trace his step back.

"What's wrong with you?" you asked once the shock dissipated, returning your voice to its rightful owner once more. "Why are you being like this?"

"Me? You're asking me? I should be the one asking you."

Your eyebrows pulled together in confusion. "We were chasing the UnSub—"

"You went rogue," he cut you off. "Morgan told me everything. There's no point in denying it."

Derek raised his arms in surrender when your stare of betrayal slid his way. "Fine. I'm sorry I grabbed a random civilian's bike and crashed it against the UnSub's car. You don't have to worry about paying anything back, I'll figure something out."

"Is that what you think this is about?" Aaron pinched the bridge of his nose. "I could care less about monetary compensations. We can deal with that later. You could've been killed, don't you understand?"

It was his last admission that finally made the pieces in your head click into place. Beneath the anger inside Aaron's words was actually a hidden anxiety ready to break free. He was worried about you, even if he was showing it in the least hospitable way possible.

Your relationship with Aaron was young; green around the edges and blooming every single day like tulips in spring. Nobody else in the world knew about it yet, and the two of you wanted to keep it that way. At least, that was what you agreed upon after having that lengthy discussion following your first official date.

And yet, none of that mattered when your fingers opted to reach out for Aaron's hand. You pretended not to notice the gasp that Emily let out as you urged your boyfriend to look into your eyes.

"I know you're worried, but I'm fine. I'm right here with you, and I'm okay." Aaron's shoulders physically collapsed at your reassurance. Every other noise in the hospital seemed to drown out in the aftermath. "The doctor's gonna clear me in no time, trust me."

"It still doesn't erase the fact that what you did was reckless." Aaron stepped closer towards the bed, overcrowding your senses as his thumb swept over your left eyebrow, just below the wound you had obtained from the crash. "Does it hurt?"

You shook your head no. The injury to your head was relatively minor. Your arm, on the other hand, was sustaining a quite sizable gash from your collision with the car.

Aaron's eyes followed your gaze that had meandered towards the gauze covering your arm. "How many stitches?"

Reluctantly, you answered, "Seven."

You heard his sharp breath before he turned around to face Derek. "Where's the UnSub now?"

Derek jerked his head to the right, where you reckoned the UnSub was being treated for their own injuries from the crash. The words of protest died in your throat as Aaron began to saunter to the other end of the ER with Derek hot on his heels.

With the two men's departure, Emily was the only one who remained.

"So—" she smiled knowingly, leaning against the foot of your bed, "—you and Hotch? When did that happen?"

You slammed your head back on the pillow, muffling your groan with your uninjured arm. "Shut up."

i'm so nervous... sorry about the repetitive ask at the beginning, this was ready since before i asked you that in the past. sorry about the poor lettering and bad hearts 😭 best thing about living in different parts of the world is that i didn't have to wait 'till midnight where i live to send you this 🥹 as time passed and especially during the last two months, i felt insecure about showing you this. i think it was just how i naturally started to feel after keeping this surprise for so long. i was afraid that you may not like it or that my words can't fully reach you, but it wouldn't make sense to keep it just for me, 'cause my thoughts and feelings remain the same as when i wrote this. being open and genuine is worth it ♡ and the wait was all worth it too!! i've read it so many times that i already know it all by heart, i could even recite it for you

hello love 🥺 there was no need to feel insecure baby, but i understand it was unavoidable at one point 🥺 you need to know one detail about me, it's that no matter how small thing you give me is - i will cherish it in every way possible, no matter how silly you think it might be i would never think about it badly. it's something that someone made while thinking about me, how could i not like it? ❤️

i wrote a really long message so I'll put it under the cut 😆

before i went to sleep and before midnight hit i thought i saw a notification from tumblr and sleepily acknowledged it but was too tired to make anything out of it, i had a very sad and tiring evening, i don't think i was ever that anxious and stressed about that moment of the year, i remember wishing that i could just skip this day. now when i woke up the first thing i did was checking who messaged me in the first minutes of my birthday, and let me tell you... i'm speechless :( the closer it got to my birthday the more often i kept thinking about you, since you don't visit me often (or so i think?) but when you do... you indeed make an appearance impossible to forget haha 😆❤️ i often think about the playlist you made for me, i often check it, i think I'll remember about it for the rest of my life lol

what makes this so meaningful for me is that... i don't know who you are, love. now, i had the pleasure to find out about your sweet name and that your handwriting is beautiful, and that you're this 🤏 close from making me fall in love with you KSNSJSJS you're a sweet angel who supports me quietly, i think for a very long time now. my existence in your life seems to be very important to you as you said and even though i might not fully understand my impact... i honestly feel really special. i would lie if i said that i'm not dying to meet you and talk to you, just so i also could tell you about the same thing more often, because even though our relationship isn't very clear 😆 you ARE important to me, you always will, you've made an impact on me as well. putting pieces together from all the information you collected about me in a span of that time is honestly an amazing experience, especially for someone who isn't used to receiving that kind of loving and special attention it's something hard to deal with, it's hard for me to accept these gifts from you, but it's all because i'm not used to being appreciated while doing nothing or very little in return, i'm this type of person who thinks they are worthy and deserving of love only when they are beneficial or useful, which doesn't mean that i'm not genuine and honest in what i do or say, i love making people feel loved, but you're one of the people who is proving me wrong.

what also makes this beautiful is also the fact that you handwritten your letter, you have no idea how meaningful it is to me. i remember how i felt when i wrote such letter to my best friend in which i also spilled my deep feelings and cried while doing so ajsbsjjs typing on the keyboard wasn't enough, it didn't feel right. now knowing that you took your efforts to write it for me, maybe feeling partly like me then.. makes me feel so emotional. your letter was so beautiful, so touching and felt like a warm genuine hug that i really needed. it makes me feel safe, that no matter what happens i will be okay since apparently i'm not such a bad person after all haha because how could such an angel ever appreciate me if i was completely unworthy and broken as i thought i am, right?

i really wish i could hug you right now, because i know you might need it too, i wish that one day i could be here for you for real. i will keep your letter 🥺 i will read it again, again and again, i will probably cry later when first waves of shock go away JSBDJSJ but it's good, i feel better, i feel okay and i feel loved 💓 i'm really happy that our paths could cross, being here is one of the best decisions in my life, i met some really important people to me that i plan on keeping for a long time in my life and memory and i will be thankful till the end of my days 🥺 thank you so much, so so much really, for your love, for being here, for being yourself, for everything. thank you for your beautiful wishes 🥺 i wish the same for you, love. I'm so proud of you and seeing you take steps in your life that mean a lot to you makes me feel so happy for you, i wish you all the best sweetheart and please remember that me and many people around you love you 💓 also pls i love the little hearts you left in your letter, the cutest little things 🥺 thank you for being my little light and making the beginning of this day brighter for me, you're amazing and don't ever forget that please ❤️

You spot a somewhat large box, royal blue with a red ribbon on top, in Hyunjin’s hands. He smiles and pushes off the doorway. “I’m sorry to intrude like that, you weren’t answering your phone.” He says when he reaches you.

You shrug, “It’s okay. I was only sleeping.” Hyunjin nods and places the box in your hands with a sly grin, “Open,” He gestures towards the box. You move to the couch and take the lid off the box. The first thing on top is your very own Jiniret. “So you stop kidnapping my child,” Hyunjin laughs and slides onto the couch next to you. The next thing you pull out is an all black hoodie and when you turn it around you see Hyunjin’s name on the back. The small gesture shouldn’t cause butterflies to emerge in your stomach, but it does to your dismay.

You take out the rest of the stuff (a few small fake plants, Versace perfume that you scold him for buying for you, and a couple of his PCs sprinkled in between everything). You finally reach the bottom and furrow your eyebrows when you pull out a blindfold. You look at Hyunjin whose expression has morphed into something mischievous. He moves the box out of your lap and takes the blindfold out of your hands before tying it around your head, obstructing your vision.

“C’mon, stand up.” You do and Hyunjin slides his hand in yours, guiding you somewhere.

After a few moments you assume you’ve reached your bedroom, the smell of your favorite candle filling the air. The door clicks behind you and now you’re hyper aware of Hyunjin’s presence.

“Why are we in my room, Jin?” Instead of answering you, he runs his fingers delicately down your bare forearms, leaving a trail of goosebumps in his wake.

“I think we can both agree that we have more than just a normal friendship, don’t you think?” Hyunjin’s voice has noticeably dropped, causing shivers to wrack your body. Your heartbeat quickens so much that you wouldn’t be surprised if he could hear it. “I asked you a question, baby.”

Are you dreaming? You must be dreaming. There is absolutely no way you aren’t. He would never say anything like this. Right? Right. You’re pulled out of your thoughts when Hyunjin places his hands on your hips and presses you flush against his body.

Maybe you aren’t dreaming, judging by the very real, sizable erection digging into your stomach. “Hyunjin I-” You aren’t too sure what to say except to agree with him. He walks you back to the bed and gently lets you down, climbing over you soon after.
