I like the way Ai's hair is drawn in the CD drama's illustrations best, because even if the fluffy anime fringe is cute, her waves and curls even in suspension fluid, make her look so much like her father... they even have the same side part in their hair.

Since Ash was revived cause of tears of life or love or something could Aitwo cry while watching over mewtwo and bring herself back to life through her tears? It would follow in-universe logic

Hi Anon! Thanks for the question! I'm not sure she can bring herself back to life by crying because she's dead. I think part of the "rules" are that living beings must be the ones to cry out of love for another. Additionally, the "bedtime story" Ambertwo describes says that Pokemon's tears are full of life, not humans', and Ambertwo isn't a Pokemon. These are all just guesses, though.

Similarly, I've often wondered why baby Mewtwo's tears don't save Ambertwo when she dies in the lab. He seems to wonder the same thing when he angrily says, "These tears…what good are they?!" Maybe it's because he's crying in the psychic "dream" he and Amber share, not in real life? Maybe he isn't fully Pokemon enough for it to work? Or perhaps because Ambertwo is simply a reconstruction of a consciousness, the rules don't apply? This is definitely not the case in the radio drama, where Aitwo is a living, breathing child. So I'm not sure! The nature of the miracle tears is rather opaque. What do y'all think?

For the longest time, fans were confused on whether Miyamoto died or lived, because her recorded messages go up until present time or nearly, even after the avalanche in the first chapter, when Musashi is almost an oban/old maid by 90's Japanese standards (so, 25), and then the second-to-final series starring Satoshi/Ash (final if you don't count the mini-series that was Mezase Pokemon Master), Pocket Monsters (2019)/Journeys basically confirm Mew killed someone in those mountains who the others assume must have been a terrible person. It was likely her. ;_; Yeah, Mew's like the Peter Pan novel's description of children, the qualities needed to fly: gay and innocent and heartless.

Thank you for the message! I haven't watched that last arc of the anime, though I intend to for specifically Mew reasons, and learning this is amazing. I would have never ever expected anything about Miyamoto to be even alluded at ever again.

Personally I still wouldn't think of it as strictly "confirming", since so many years have passed and Shudo had been long dead by when that series was written, so one can still think of it as more of a word of Paul/word of Dante situation: the people involved with Journeys think Miyamoto did die, which is fair. But in the context of just the text of The Birth of Mewtwo, it really isn't so clear, and even reading (translations of) Shudo's blog where he wrote a lot about what was on his mind writing The Birth of Mewtwo and other things, so far I haven't been able to find out anything more about what he intended as Miyamoto's fate.

It also further confuses that her role is half comic relief and half absolutely tragic (looks like anything the guy touched turned kind of tragic even when he didn't set out to, lol), so is the part where she talks about Jessie being "already an old maid" just for giggles, or to be taken at face value? If so, how much? Personally I like to believe in all possibilities for this one.

Still I am absolutely amazed that this callback ever happened. I need to look more into it and watch the Mew arc already...

And I love the comparison with Peter Pan. God that's perfect.

Even though he falls into the old “We have to make our civil rights leader villain kick puppies so he doesn’t seem too sympathetic” cliche, I do think they’ve created a really interesting situation with Ramattra wrt the whole concept of his creation. Like, he wasn’t created by humans like most other omnics. He was created by the hands of a God AI that he can’t communicate with anymore. He can’t ask why it truly made him. He can’t ask what he should do now that he has a choice. All he knows is that the force that created him believed wholeheartedly that the world would be better off without human beings in it. And he’s seen very little to prove otherwise.

Also, the repeated implications that Ramattra seems like he isn’t sure he wants to keep living - the way he says he wishes he could meet Aurora to ask her why she gave him sentience. The surprise from Sojourn that he’s showing his face openly, because that makes him so much easier to kill. The comments the characters make about the robots he sends having a reckless, suicidal fighting style, and how that “may reflect the feelings of their creator”.

It’s very dark, particularly for Overwatch, and tremendously tragic. This isn’t some mastermind trying to further their own philosophies, like Doomfist or Moira. This is a being in extreme pain and distress, who feels like he’s capable of contributing nothing to this world but violence - towards both others and himself.

something i think about sometimes: Asterius gets a chance to meet his blood-father, the bull of Posei/don, and in seeing him, he realizes that outside of the "having white fur, he really was just an ordinary bull who became unwittingly wrapped up in the schemes of the gods. he was not created as a monster, but the circumstances of his environment turned him into one.... though Asterius is half human, he realizes how little they differ from one another at the end of the day.

What type of mom would Mew be to Ambertwo in this story?

I suppose it depends on which canon of Mew you want to go with! In the MSB canon, Mew is vivacious, mysterious, powerful and mostly good but has a mischievous side. It isn't technically Mewtwo's mother in this canon, as Mewtwo was cloned using a fossilized Mew eyelash. So if you’re basing Mew on how the character is depicted in Mewtwo Strikes Back, I’d say Mew acts more as an unpredictable-but-kind uncle/aunt/auncle to Ambertwo. If you’re more interested in using the original games as your canon where Mew gave “birth” to Mewtwo, perhaps it acts more motherly? Totally up to you!

Which of the 5 starters would Ambertwo pick for her team?

I think she’d insist on taking all 3 of the original Kanto starters with her since those species have a history with her in the Mewtwo Strikes Back prologue/Birth of Mewtwo radio drama, even if that’s kinda against the rules!

What kind of rival would Ambertwo have?

Ambertwo is such a kind person, I imagine her rival would be someone who’s more of a friend than an opponent.

Would Dr. Fuji join Team Rocket?

I’d say Ambertwo would be the first to take care of a Pokemon’s emotional distress, though Mewtwo would make sure it’s physically safe, if that makes sense!
