What if when ghosts - including Danny - enter that form with a ghostly tail it means they have to consciously be aware of their own physical appearance.
For actual ghosts it's not that big of a deal since most of them already have the disconnection from humanity that comes with death. Many of them have either been dead too long to remember what a human form should properly look like while others just straight up don't care, and for most, it's just subconscious and they don't have to really think about it.
But Danny's a little anxious about it.
On one hand, it means that he gets to play some really great pranks on Sam and Tucker, but on the other hand, it also means that most people end up terrified and starkly reminded that their local superhero is, in fact, just one of the many ghosts that he fights.
But I'm not talking huge differences in appearance - nah, I'm a fan of unnerving, pre-eldritch Danny.
So in the heat of the moment Danny slips up and his arms may appear just a little too long, his teeth a little too sharp, his body distorted just enough to make your hair stand on end. His eyes reflect in the dark and his Lichtenburg scars stand out a little too starkly against his bloodless pallor. His suit loses that hazmat sheen and dulls to a smokey charcoal black, looking far too tight, stretched to its limits against muscle and bone, fused with his skin.
His hands get a little too big and his victorious grin stretches a little too wide across his face.
Sometimes, in the heat of battle, if you get a little too close, you can see something reminiscent of burn scars crawling up his neck and across his jaw, wrinkling his lips and creeping higher with his anger. The flesh, web-like and raised, but just as colourless as his complexion. Scars that only those who'd been saved and clutched tight in Phantom's arms have ever claimed to see.
But only sometimes.
Most of the time Phantom isn't even scary in the traditional sense - just the extreme Uncanny Valley sense. Most of the time Phantom is sarcastic and quick-witted and almost charming. Most of the time.
Nowadays Danny's got a better grip on it. It doesn't happen often.
But when it does, the Fenton's claim that it's proof of Phantom's deceit, hiding his sinister nature and deceiving Amity Park. It's something his parents never fail to use to try and prove just how inhuman he really is.

New Story: Welcome to Amity Park
by Sivan5733/channahjen
Part 3 of “Ghosts in Gotham” Series    Link to First Story
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter One (of four)
Summary: On Batman’s orders, Jason Todd goes to investigate the city of Amity Park and its citizens. What he finds is something—and someone—completely unexpected.
Jason sighed inside his helmet. The sign read “125 miles to Amity Park- The World’s Most Haunted City.” Seriously? The Red Hood has run across that slogan in his basic internet search of the place, but for them to have road signs out that far meant that the place was likely going to turn out to be a tourist trap from hell. His com beeped, and Jason tapped the side of his helmet to bring up the HUD. It appeared to be the information Bruce had promised him. He’d read through it later.  He quickly scanned down to the most important part—where he’d be staying. Amity’s Hope Hotel? What the hell? Could the old man not find anything that didn’t sound like a convent for him to stay at?? Jason scoffed. More likely, he just wanted me to be uncomfortable. I’ll make sure he’s uncomfortable when I run the fucking hotel bill up through the roof. He just hoped they had sheltered parking for his bike.
Another click on his helmet brought up the map, with the directions highlighted. According to the estimated time, he should be there and checked in by dinnertime. He was glad. It had been a long, hard drive; the vigilante was overdue for a shower and some food. He grumbled to himself—not for the first time—that he should have taken a flight to get there, but Bruce wanted him mobile and well-equipped, so airports were out. He was to go in as Jason Peters, and root out whatever he could find about this strange city out in the middle of almost nowhere. Bruce so owed him for this!
About a mile from the city limits, something strange started nagging at Jason. He started to feel uneasy—almost as if he were being watched, which was ridiculous. No one even knew he was coming. But he still couldn’t shake the feeling or the unease that came with it. When he got to the edge of the city, the unease settled into his gut like concrete. There was a huge billboard welcoming visitors to Amity Park. But the billboard had a human-shaped hole right through the middle of it, along with holes surrounded by burn marks and strange glowing green goo.
Damn it! Jason thought. I’m not even in the city proper and things are already weird. He just knew it was going to be one of those weeks. The further Jason got into the city, the worse the damage was. He veered off the plotted path to get a better look at the various states of destruction. There were human-sized potholes everywhere, some, but not all, marked off with cones and “danger” tape. In some places the streets were barely passable by bike, much less by car. Even the buildings were in a state of disrepair that looked disturbingly like battle damage, if Jason didn’t know better. After seeing a solid half mile of this, he turned back towards his hotel. Something was going on in this city. Something big. How did the Justice League not know about this? If that kid hadn’t wandered into Gotham and Batman not been so paranoid, how long would this have gone unnoticed? The lack of answers was just as disturbing as the damage he saw.
The day got even weirder once he got to the hotel. He quickly found parking in the hotel’s “guaranteed ghost-proof” garage, and made his way to check-in. Things went normally, until the receptionist asked him to please sign the liability waiver and ghost insurance forms. “The what now?” Jason asked.
“Well, as per City Council requirements, all visitors to Amity Park must sign a waiver of liability stating that the city is not responsible for any damages that occur to you while you stay in town. The ghost insurance is also required for guests, to cover any damages or loss you might suffer during your stay due to ghost attacks.”
“Listen, lady. I get that your city has a tourist gimmick, but don’t you think that you guys are taking it a bit far with this? ‘Waiver of Liability’ I can maybe see, especially due to the shape of your roads, but ‘Ghost Insurance’?? Are you for real? That has got to be the biggest piece of bullsh—nevermind. Is my stay already paid for?”
The nervous receptionist nodded mutely.
“Is the ‘ghost insurance’ already paid for?”
She nodded again.
“Fine. Where are the stupid papers? I just want to put my stuff away and get some food.”
The receptionist sighed in audible relief and slid the documents across the desk for Jason to sign. As he was scratching out his assumed name, she perked up. “Oh, Mr. Peters! You had a package arrive for you this morning. I can have it sent to your room, if you’d like.”
Jason did a slow blink and took a deep breath. “That will be fine. Send it straight up, if you don’t mind. I’ll be waiting. Do you have a list of restaurants who deliver to this hotel?”
The young woman nodded vigorously and told him that there was a packet of menus in the drawer by the phone in his room. “You’re in room 118, sir.” She daintily handed over the key card. “Will you be needing anything else?” When Jason shook his head, she continued. “Oh, I nearly forgot, please acquaint yourself with town safety procedures as listed on the back of your room door. In the event of a ghost-related emergency, the town alert siren will sound, and you will need to get to the closest shelter. The ‘Safe Space’ symbol is on the front of your room key.”
Jason looked down at the card in his hand. He flipped it over and groaned. It was a picture very similar to the old “Ghostbuster’s” logo. There was a green vaguely-ghost-shaped creature in the center of a red circle with a line through the middle. He had seen one or two of those signs on his drive in to the hotel, but didn’t know what they meant. Now that he did, he wished he didn’t. What in the hell is going on in this city??? He briefly remembered that while the parking garage had one of those signs next to the entrance, the hotel itself did not. If there was some kind of “attack”, he’d have to run for shelter. He felt like he was staying at a safe house in Crime Alley, hoping no one discovered his hideout, and being ready to bolt at a moment’s notice. He didn’t like that feeling at all. Bruce was not going to be happy about this. Me either, old man…
DannyMay Day 3: College Days - Scientific Peculiarity - Chap.1: It’s Such A Delight!
Typically, university/college wasn’t much of an interest or in the cards for Danny. But when the kid’s actually REALLY FUCKING GOOD with ghost hunter gear and tech plus super creative, and then you add in Vlad’s deep DEEP pockets… Meanwhile, Tadashi and co. think the new face is a little… strange. Hiro’s friend or not.
“Wait, you mean you’re going to be coming down here!?! SICK!”.
“Yup! Vlad wrangled me in, I’m not asking how but I’m in! I’m honestly really excited even if it means being outside of Amity for a while. Though… getting away from my folks is probably for the best”.
“Yeah”, he winces, he knew that Danny’s parents weren’t the greatest. Hiro might be ‘a fourteen-year-old kid’ but he’s not stupid. Someone can only mention their parents forgetting to feed them so many times before it’s obvious that it’s a habit. And their lab safety sounded really sad. Hiro had enjoyed bugging his brother by randomly mentioning whatever latest thing Danny’s parents had done, leaving his big brother practically ranting about lab safety.
And now Danny was coming here. To San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. To work on lame nerd stuff but still. Maybe Hiro’ll actually go to the labs there, like Tadashi’s always wanted him to, just to watch Danny harass everyone with his goblin energy and Fenton style ‘lab safety’.
“I’m honestly just surprised that I got approval to work with ecto and all that”.
Hiro chuckles, “yeah, you always make that stuff sound super dangerous”, smirking, “and fun”. Aka really cool in Hiro’s opinion. Even if he’s not… entirely sold on the whole ghost thing. But it would be really neat! And the possibility of seeing the dead again… yeah, he’d like that.
“Oh it is. All the chaos. Speaking of dangerous and fun, win any bot fights lately?”.
Now that, that gets Hiro grinning, “you know it! Tadashi was mad and totally got thrown in jail”.
“HA! Nice! Gotta stick it to those overbearing siblings sometimes! When I get there and finally meet that brother of yours I’m going to immediately ask when we goin’ bot fighting and when he tries to ask if I’m into robotics to try and steer the conversation away from illegal activities, I’ll tell him that ‘nope! Interdimensional travel to the land of the dead’s my thing!’ and he will cry ”.
Hiro is actively laughing hard enough to be tearing up a little, “he actually might!”. His big brother was probably the most anti-things-that-haven’t-been-proven-by-science guy he knows! And Hiro’s pretty sure that if someone tried to argue if leprechauns were real just to be silly, Danny would respond with ‘oh I don’t know, probably?’. You could say you rode a unicorn and he’d just judge you for not having pictures. Just the same, Danny was the only one who didn’t go all mother-hen on him about the bot fighting.
“Anyways, I gotta finish packing this mess. Before my dad offers to help”; Danny’s cringe is very noticeable.
“Cool, bye”. Hiro smiling down at his phone. Oh he hopes Danny’s lab space or whatever gets put in with Tadashi’s!
---
Danny lounges, feet up on the dashboard of Vlad’s expensive ass car. Hands behind his head, “Ancients this is gonna be so awesome”.
“I’m glad you’re excited”, Vlad side-eyeing Danny, “and that you let yourself go”. Making Danny shrug, “eh, I’m on good terms with a lot of ghosts now so I know they won’t do any serious damage, any others Val’s tough enough to handle and she can call me if she needs help”, smirking at the older man, “you know I’m a fast-flying motherfucker”.
“Language”.
“Boo to you. Boo”.
Vlad rolls his eyes as they finally pull into the university’s parking lot, “well now you can get out and stop scuffing up my dashboard”. Danny smirking and making a point to just scuff it up more as he opens the door and gets out. Vlad gets him back by managing to make the back door open just right to smack Danny in the face. Danny sticking his tongue out at the man while Vlad smirks. Vlad rolling down his driver's side window, “got everything?”.
“Yup! You can so totally go back to your silly mayor duties”.
“And I will. Just remember, ghosts might be an open secret, but they’re not ‘having a ghostly sparring match in broad daylight in the middle of San Fransokyo’ levels of an open secret”.
Danny waving the man off with a piece of luggage, “pffft I know, I know; old man. Geez. But if, say, Cujo decides to haul ass through whatever lab or one of the probably evil head professors decides to do shit; who knows”.
Vlad quirks an eyebrow, “‘probably evil’?”.
“Callaghan seems super sketchy”.
Vlad sighs, “well he is the one who let you in to work on ghost tech. So that would line up with your very unlucky track record”.
Danny laughing and beginning to walk off, “yup! Evil therapists! Evil doctors! Evil carnival! Evil mayor!”.
Vlad just rolls his eyes with a chuckle before smoothly backing out and driving off.
-
Danny lets out a long breath when he gets inside, smiling. This was gonna be nice! Sure he was the only sixteen-year-old here probably and was probably going to get that ‘child prodigy’ treatment/label, but fuck it. First! To find his dorm! Which he thankfully doesn’t have a roommate for due to ‘health concerns’ regarding ectoplasm and probably the school or whatever looked into what happened to the last person who played roommate to any Fenton. Aka, Vlad getting hospitalised for seven years. Jazz just got her own apartment too; which Vlad also paid for. Their parents had set up college/university funds but not very big ones, most of their money went to their work, not his or Jazz’s futures; though Jazz got all the money from the fund, since they didn’t think Danny would ever go. But pretty much entirely thanks to Vlad being the decent but kinda crazy uncle he was, Danny was fucking HERE. At basically one of the best tech schools out there so that he could work on ghost tech that was all his own. Was Phantom Grade.
Pausing his walking and staring a little, holy crap there was a bar attached to the building. Too bad he can’t legally drink… in the living realm anyways. Either may he chuckles over the little not-so-hidden find, before hauling ass again.
-
His dorm room… is tiny. Oh well. It’s just for one person so it’s probably the smallest in the building. Shrugging and stuffing things away before being smart and putting some (invisible) ecto-proofing spray all over basically everything. It would be really bad form if he contaminated the place too horribly or ecto-burnt a hole into the carpet or accidentally brought his dresser to life.
And now… Lucky Cat Café! To let Hiro know that the problem has arrived! And was late! Like usual.
---
Hiro, and Tadashi for the first time in a while, were currently helping Aunt Cass out with the workload at the café, when Danny basically kicks in the front door. Him sauntering in like he’s trying to cause problems, rough blue steel-toed doc martins, patch-covered beat-up crust-pants, a leather jacket with dick-shaped studs on the collar; in short, he looked like trouble. Him throwing up his hands and shouting, “Hiro!”.
Hiro throwing up his hands too, “Danny!”, dropping his hands, “dude, did you put on makeup to make your scar more obvious?”, and laughs. Danny grins stupidly, putting his hands in his pockets as he walks over, “hey now, I had to look like the definition of a ‘bad influence friend’ for meeting your family for the first time”, and snickers before waving at a curious-looking Aunt Cass and cautious-looking Tadashi.
“You’re such a Problem”.
“Why thank you dearly for the compliment. Also!”, Danny sticking up a finger while also pulling out a little paper, “since Tadashi goes to SFIT, he can tell me where my lab space is”.
Tadashi blinks, frowning a little, “you’re going to SFIT?”, he sounds both impressed and less than impressed.
“Yup! Richest man on the planet paid my way! That, and being on the cover of genius magazine and being raised by tech geniuses probably helped. Even if I am, like, four years younger than you”, waving him off, “my sister went to Yale. Lame, I know. Pioneering some new branch of psychology or something”, and shrugs.
Tadashi looking to Hiro with a fond quirked eyebrow, “now when did you go befriending a child genius?”. Aunt Cass adding in more judgingly, “and why have we never met before?”, her looking to Danny, “how do you like your coffee?”.
Danny smirking, “as caffeinated as you’re willing to make it, legal or otherwise”, sticking up a finger at her while Tadashi does actually take the lab assignments paper from him, “I’m from Illinois, Amity Park specifically”. She nods acceptingly and quickly goes to make him something real quick.
Hiro blushes a little awkwardly while Danny turns his attention on Tadashi, grinning devilishly, “and we met over battle bots”, and looks very very smug when Tadashi practically gives him a death glare. Tadashi sighing after a beat, “well I’m glad you’re doing more with your intellect than just that”, quickly giving Hiro a look, which the teen rolls his eyes over, before looking back to Danny, “and I take it you’re into robotics then?”. Making Hiro facepalm, since Tadashi just walked right into this like Danny said he would.
Danny, somehow, looks even more smug, “oh no, I’m working on ghost hunting tech and interdimensional death portals”.
Aunt Cass blinks, handing Danny off a ludicrously strong coffee, “well that’s certainly intresting”. While Hiro bends over laughing at Tadashi looking like he just bit a lemon.
Danny waving Tadashi off with a smirk, “both my parents are ghost hunters, Jazz is doing work on ghost psychology and ghost envy, there’s even a few witch hunters in the family tree”, and grins open-mouthed. Knowing full well Tadashi officially hates his guts.
After a bit… “tell me that’s a joke”.
Hiro starts laughing, hard, again. While Danny just snickers, “I don’t know, guess you’ll just have to find out”.
Tadashi hands back the paper politely at least, “well you’re in the same lab as me”; everyone can feel the ‘unfortunately’ tacked on the end there. Danny saluting with his cup, “well I guess lll go wander around the lab area until you come and lead me there like a lost little puppy”, gives him a mocking pout and walks out.
Tadashi blinks, looking back to Hiro, “ghost hunters? Really? Really”. Hiro shrugs, “he’s admitted himself that his parents are crazy”.
“Oh thank god”.
---
Danny wasn’t kidding, he did actually just… wander around aimlessly. Unnerving a lot of people. Tadashi shaking his head before waving Danny to follow him; smiling slightly at the excitable first year… even if he was a little strange.
Which the teen proceeds to prove as soon they get into the lab by sticking out his hands and shouting, “I AM HERE TO SAY HELLO TO MY COLLEGE YEARS! HA HA!”. Everyone pausing what they’re doing to look at them.
Tadashi resisting sighing purely to avoid discouraging the teenager. Absently realising that this was that friend with parents that had truly horrible lab safety tendencies, that Hiro had mentioned more than once. Watching the teenager walk off to the only open lab area and slam his hands down hard enough to make
everything on it bounce. Alright, he’s not entirely sure how he feels about this.
Sea Cryptic! Danny AU- Pt.3
[Pt.1] [Pt.2] [Pt.4][Pt.5][Pt.6][Pt.7]
“Aquaman.” Batman swept into the room, beelining straight for the suddenly apprehensive Atlantean king.
“Batman. What can I do for you?”
“Phantom. Does he pay taxes?”
“Pardon?”
Batman makes a low noise that had Aquaman’s danger senses buzzing.
“Does Phantom have to pay taxes. Towards Atlantis.”
“No…? Why?”
“He wanted money, in exchange for… information, of a delicate sort,” Batman said, diplomatically avoiding the topic of Phantom bargaining for the identities of corpses in exchange for a measly $100 dollars per identity. Like a flea market dealer, that one was.
“You encountered Phantom again?” Aquaman perked up.
“Yes. Gotham’s bay is… polluted.” Batman paused. “With victims. Of murder.”
The entire area quieted as heads turned towards the Dark Knight.
“Yes, I am… distantly aware of Gotham’s waters.” By that, Aquaman gets green around the gills whenever he turns his awareness in that direction. There’s a reason he doesn’t enter Gotham, and the Dark Knight’s ban is only half of that reason. “Ah, but you’re correct. For what purpose would Phantom need mortal currency?”
“Hn.”
“Maybe he needs some stuff?” Flash zipped to a stop next to Batman, feet tapping as he dug into the pile of snacks cradled in his arms. “Us mortals are always coming up with new things, maybe he wants to try some games or something?”
Batman tilted his head down, seriously considering Flash’s suggestion. “It’s plausible.”
“Barry, Barry, Barry. He’s old as hell, right? He probably wants to try the new booze!”
“Hal, my man!” Flash fist bumped Green Lantern, who came up. “You’re back! What happened to John?”
“Dunno. He got called somewhere that way,” Green Lantern waved a vague hand towards the left. “Had to deal with a politician or something from that area.” He shrugged, swinging an arm over Barry’s shoulders to put him in a headlock and stealing a chip.
“Huh. Anyways, would our mortal alcohol even work on a demi-god or something?”
“We should ask!” Hal turned towards Batman. “You should ask if he wants to go for a drink, spooky!”
“He’s a child.”
“He’s been around for more than a millennia, Bats.”
“Informational gathering, right, Hal?” Flashgot out of the headlock, quickly munching on his snacks to stop Green Lantern from stealing them.
“Totally. Yup.”
“…Fine.”
“Wait, are we just gonna ignore that Gotham’s waters are full of bodies?”
“Yes.”
——
“What?” Danny asked, mind half on the bags he’s dragging out of the water and the other half on the essay he has to submit in about four hours.
“Green Lantern wanted to invite you out for a drink.”
Danny turned to the stoic Gotham knight, who had his wrist computer out to log the bodies’ info the moment Danny gave him the information. Some of them even told Danny who murdered them, so Batman could start building cases with solid leads.
Danny’s only twenty. He’s not legal yet but he doesn’t want to give any clues to who he is. How is he supposed to…
Ah!
“Can’t.” Danny shrugged. “I’m not legal. I died when I was fourteen so…” Danny trailed off, speechless at the drowned puppy face Batman was giving him. What the fuck.
“Anyways, fork over my payment.”
Batman wordlessly hands him a wad of hundreds.
“What do you need cash for?” Batman suddenly asked.
“Huh? Isn’t it obvious?” Danny tucked it in. “Material things, obviously. I need a blanket,” because holy shit, Gotham is damn cold this time of year. “Anyways, see you same time next week, litterer.”
“I don’t litter.”
“Tell that to the batarangs I found under the water,” Danny grumbled. “But I’ll stop calling you that if you get a signature from Poison Ivy. I have a friend who loves her.”
“An alive friend?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know, weatherboy?”
Danny snickered and disappeared. He’s gotta cram that essay.
——
“There’s a possibility Phantom might be homeless.”
“Batman, I mean this in the nicest way, but for the love of Atlantis, please stop giving me headaches. It’s time like these I wish I stayed a lighthouse keeper.”
Ghosts Tell Me
~
Ghosts gather near the place where something bad is going to happen,
Danny with his ghost sense tends to notice before anyone else and tends to react outwardly before the danger even happens, gaining a reputation of seeing the future,
Ghosts also tell Danny things, causing Danny to know more about situations and the people around him, it comes of as suspicious.
~
Danny pulling away a snack from his coworker: "Careful your allergic to these ingredients!"
Coworker: "How the hell...I've never mentioned that to anyone."
~
Danny on a phone call with his friends while doing his nightly walks in Gotham: "Yeah so apparently the second Robin who is now Red Hood has very personal beef with the clown here cuz he got killed by him after being sold out by his bio mom, which really sucks for the poor guy."
Oracle who has been keeping an Eye on Danny cuz he's very suspicious from an outsiders pov: "Hey B, I think we have a problem."
~
Danny notices that the ghost in Gotham tends to gather where something bad is going to happen, the more they are the worse the situation will be: *glowing smoke leaves from his mouth* "Yikes! Very bad vibes here, nope!"
Gothamites who at this point recognize him and know the drill and quickly pack up their things to leave:
Danny needs a few...odd things. A few dietary and emotional requirements unique to his physiology. Meat is one of them.
But like, raw meat. He doesn't have to eat it often, maybe twice a month, but it does need to be completely raw.
He also needs to eat non-sentient blob ghosts, which are very different from sentient ones. Same amount, maybe twice a month.
He's weak to hot temperatures, where most humans require some sort of positive contact he needs to fight, if he gets too much sunlight his dopamine levels drop, and oddly enough as he got older milk or products with a lot of milk started to affect him like alcohol affects humans.
Now that he's made it to college, hiding most of these things is easy enough.
He chose Gotham, because of minimal sunny days and naturally cold weather. He regularly goes for walks at night, to fill his need for fighting. He says he has a milk allergy, and avoids milk products.
The blobs and the raw meat are a little uh. Those are a little hard.
He's taken to ducking into a bathroom stall to just swallow the blobs whole. But the meat...
He decides to sear the outside and leave the inside entirely raw. Does this detract from the nutrients by cooking them off? Yes. Does it mean he needs to eat raw meat four times a month instead of twice? Yes. Does it mostly hide that he's doing this in front of humans? Kind of.
Until he got a vegan roommate.
Said roommate is far too sharp-eyed for his own good, and now the guy is being weird.
Or: Damian's roommate is a meta who clearly has dietary restrictions outside the norm. It's fine; Damian understands that like animals in the wild, people have different diets. But the cuts of meat Fenton is eating are...subpar. Damian isn't sure how to be...civil, or appear polite, or not be a "snob" if he suggests Fenton allow him to procure farm fresh cuts of steak from cows raised in an open pasture and were well taken care of.
Vampire Misunderstanding
So! Danny got adopted by Bruce Wayne, but he doesn't know that Bruce is the Batman. He is just supernaturally oblivious to all things Batman related going on in the House.
But he does notice that Bruce leaves home a lot at night, that he doesn't like to go out in the day and often has his parties at night, and once or twice he's caught Bruce with a bit if blood still splattered on his cheek.
So he comes to the only plausible conclusion. Bruce is a Vampire.
He starts trying to hint at the fact that he knows, but doesn't want to just go out and say it. What if Bruce reacts negatively to him knowing? He's dealt with enough Supernatural Beings to know that they don't like other people (and especially other supernatural beings) intruding on their lives.
So Danny decided to subtly hint at it.
He started asking questions like "So hypothetically, how would you deal with having a Garlic Allergy in Gotham?" Or "So if you had very sensitive skin that could sunburn extremely easily, how much cloud cover would you need to go outside?" And "So what's your opinion on a High-Iron Diet?"
Basically just tossing out questions and trying to Guage Bruce's reaction.
He thinks he's doing a good job!
...
Bruce is certain that he has adopted a Vampire.
Danny is a good kid, but he has a few oddities that are hard to ignore.
For one, his skin is constantly Ice Cold, but he never seens to be bothered by it. As if he was an Undead that didn't require Body Heat anymore.
He also seems to like Hanging out in the Graveyard outside, and when asked about it he says that he is comforted by the place. Just like the Vampires he has met in the past, who feel comfortable when surrounded by Death.
And of course the biggest reason for suspicion is the fact that Danny seems to be hinting at it to him.
He keeps asking stuff like "How would you deal with a Garlic Allergy in Gotham?", probably trying to hint that he is a Vampire who can't eat Garlic, or asking about easy to sunburn skin, saying that he is probably not a Daywalker.
Bruce hopes Danny will just come clean about it soon, he doesn't want to intrude upon the kid when he is so obviously nervous about how he will react.
Danny lands at the feet of his cloning template, and in a desperate bid to not get murdered by said template, he gave a wry smile before saying, "HI, dad." He then used the moment of stunned silence to escape.
A week later, he regrets his decision as he walks down the stairs to find his template in his living room, interrogating his tied up parents.
Fenton parents make an invention to reverse a ghost's evil impulses!" It actually brings a ghost's instincts forward. The effects last about two weeks.
The Fentons are in Gotham when they get the chance to use it on Phantom.
Good news: it happens near the Bats, so he's quickly rescued.
Bad news: baby ghost instinct wants parents and turned human to get reassurance. That did not happen and now Red Hood has a crying, keening teenager shaped leech.
It's shenanigans time guys
So have this DpxDc idea.
So, the Justice League and the Light (OR villains in general) have two newish members, they've both been around for about a year and they're from the same plane of existence (a place called the Infinite Realms according to those who dabble in the occult)
And the two seem to have some serious beef with each other.
Wisp and Wrath are basicly feral cats hissing and hekles raised when they spot the other and their fights normally ends in draws. They're evenly matched and sometimes the two even fight to the point they are out of steam and just fist fight.
Needless to say everyone believes they totally hate each other and might one day kill (or end?) One of them.
So everything gets turned upside down when suddenly both factions of heros and villains are suddenly summoned to the Infinite Realms.
In a throne room.
In front of the Infinite King (or most commonly known as the Ghost King)
A King who looks very, very much like Wisp and Wrath (like yeah the two do sometimes look alike, like when they grin with sharp teeth and their hair color, but one has blue skin and red eyes for crying out loud!)
He's staring at them, glowing green eyes that seemed to just... know.
"Welcome to the Infinite Realms. I am King Phantom." His voice echoing in the throne room and seemed to rattle them deeply, like a sudden chill in the early morning.
"I have summoned you all here for a single reason." He continued to say "Tell me..."
Here he paused, closed his eyes before leaning back on the chair then he smiled big and cheerfully asked.
"How are my kids doing in your world? Dan and Ellie arent causing too much chaos in their wake are they? They tend to go a tiny bit overboard sometimes but what siblings don't when they rough house you know. Tell me everything."
Tucker can't stand the sight of blood.
He'd always been squeamish but now he faints on the spot. He can't help his mom in the kitchen anymore. Not after he bent too low while slicing some chuck roast and the smell of blood and fresh meat made him gag so violently his mother had rushed after him as he toppled over the nearest toilet bowl to empty his stomach. The chemical smell of bleach and strong cleaning supplies cloud his lungs and burn his eyes. He can't step foot into a hospital, the smell of disinfectant and hand sanitiser leaves his hands shaking and head spinning as tears start to overflow. His mum thinks he's got anxiety.
Sam can't bear the sound of silence
She's never been fond of crowded rooms and noisy conversations. But now she can't stand when things get too quiet - not when it feels like she's being haunted. Even when she knows she's alone in her bed, safe and tucked in while the watchmen her parents hired guard the boundaries of the residence. Her heart starts to thump and her mouth goes dry and sticky and she can hardly swallow back the bitterness in her throat. She's left with fumbling, angry hands yanking tangled earphones from her bedside drawer. Ink-stained fingers shove plastic earpieces as deeply into her ears as she can whilst the music ramps up to ear-splitting volumes. Her mother won't stop screaming that she's going to go deaf and her father won't stop worrying, but at least she can no longer hear the echo of footsteps over the ringing in her ears. At least she doesn't have to relive the silence that followed them.
Jazz can't sleep at night.
She slips into her brother's room and stands over his bed. She counts the rise and fall of his chest like she should be counting sheep. Each morning the sun rises and she swears it'll be the last time. But when she settles herself under the cover she can't stop her pulse from racing nor the weight that settles on her chest and grows heavier with each passing hour. No matter how many times she locks his door with the key that hangs around her neck, she can barely stop herself from jerking out of bed with every shuffle and creak that echoes throughout the night. She hasn't slept since the first night she'd found him curled up and asleep in front of the portal in her parent's basement. How can she when she knows his footsteps don't make a sound?
Part 4 of the series “Ghosts in Gotham”  Link to first story: HERE
Summary: Jason Todd is investigating Amity Park. Batman is his "man in the chair" for this mission. The information Jason turns up highly unnerves the nearly unflappable bat. So much so, that he feels like calling in the Justice League. Alfred comes in with his unique brand of help--and sass.
This story takes place during the same time period as "Welcome to Amity Park" They overlap. This story is the lead-in to the next multi-chapter part of the series. "Batman, Meet Team Phantom"
teaser:  To say that Batman was unhappy with the information he was receiving from his son on-mission in Amity Park would be the biggest understatement of the century. When he booked Jason’s hotel stay, he had raised an eyebrow at the “ghost insurance” surcharge, but had just assumed it was some sort of money-making scam and dismissed it. After seeing the first set of pictures his son uploaded that evening, he wasn’t so sure anymore. The structural damage to the roads and buildings alone hinted at the power of the beings involved. Even more disturbing, his own research had pointed out the fact that the majority of these battles were being fought by two individuals. A “ghost” of questionable motives named “Phantom” and a high-tech fighter called “The Red Huntress”. From what Batman could glean from the small amount of news pickings he could find, these were the only two competent fighters protecting the town from a possible invasion of “ghosts” or some other type of inter-dimensional entities... Batman knew three things from Jason’s report of first contact with Phantom: he was a teenager, he was most definitely sentient, and he could feel pain. Yet these supposed “scientists” were planning on vivisecting him—without anesthetic—as soon as they could catch him. Batman thanked whatever higher powers that were listening that they had not managed to corral the teen yet.
Playfighting
Imagine, Maddie Fenton having a video chat with Batman or Bruce Wayne her close childhood friend, talking about different ways to help their ghost situation, his children also in the room with them, trying their best to stay awake due to the lack of sleep and exhaustion, caused by the ghosts.
When Danny just pops out of nowhere with his black hair and blue eyes, that made every children of Batman think, if Maddie and Bruce were really just a Childhood friends(Which they are).
"Hello, Mother I am bored, and I want to do something productive but not that productive." Danny stated, while looming behind Maddie who just sighed in stress.
"Go play with your little sister" Maddie exclaimed, and went back to talking with Batman.
Danny let out a soft okay, before disappearing out of the video call.
not even a minute later, a loud bang echoed throughout Maddie's house making all the batkids alert asking what's wrong and if Maddie was alright, Maddie ignored the noise and reassured with a gentle smile that she was fine, before going back into a conversation with Batman.
Talking about perfect timing, here comes Danny and Dani strangling and roundhousing eachother to death, The batkids (except Damian, who was staring at the two trying to figure out who will win) are concerned to an extreme level because why are two 'civillian' kids trying to kill eachother?
meanwhile Batman and Maddie just continued their conversation, like it was just a normal everyday occurrence.
The bats had no idea what they were looking at. A very large vehicle that looked like it shouldn’t possibly be able to run was speeding around Gotham in no particular order. Almost as if it was looking for something. It took all of the bats over an hour to chase it down and contain it to question the driver.
A man with black hair and blue eyes that remind Bruce of his late father looks out the window, and says, “We’re looking for our son.”
A woman in the passenger seat that looks like Bruce’s mother adds, “The self sacrificial idiot jumped through a portal into another dimension trying to save a cat.”
The man nodded along, “It’s not really a cat though.”
“Well, what is it?” Tim asked, genuinely confused.
“It’s the alternate version of our son from a timeline where he went evil.” The woman responds.
“But don’t worry, he’s not evil anymore!” The man grins.
Bruce had questions. “But why would your son be a cat?”
“Because our daughter—the girl cloned from the current version of our son, that is—decided to shapeshift into a dog and chase him through the multiverse.” The man replied.
“So our other daughter, the older one, she decided to alert us, but she couldn’t wait, so now she shapeshifted ito a bird to try and catch them that way.” The woman continued.
“Are all of your children shapeshifters?” Bruce asked.
“Yep.” The man said proudly.
“Are you?” Bruce asked.
“It’s complicated.” The woman shrugged, “Using the GAV is faster.”
Bruce was very thankful that the cowl covered most of his face. Everything the people said just made his brain hurt worse.
De-Aged Danny, gesturing to a dazed Bruce inside Wayne Manor: And this is Bruce! Otherwise known as the Himbo! Reporters: Hmm, yes, interesting... Bruce: What the- Danny: I'm not sure what that word means. I heard it from Dick, but no one will give me my answer, not even Jason, who is easily bribed. Bruce: Why are there reporters in my house!? Danny, innocent and childlike: They asked to come inside, Bruce! They seemed like really nice people, so I thought it'd be polite to give them a tour. Bruce, filled with infinite patience: I really wish you had asked me before you did that, chum. Danny: But why? We don't have anything to hide... do we, Bruce?
Or, in order to rise to the Ghost Throne, Danny has to complete a series of trials to prove he is capable of ruling (or any other reason, Danny just needs to do trials to prove himself).
The last trial, issued by Clockwork, is thus: discover the Wayne Family secret in two weeks without the use of any of his powers.
He has one shapeshift to pick a form that could endere him to the Waynes, but only one before he starts and he has to get close to the family by his own wits. Danny, after studying the family and reading of one sentence summary of each Wayne, picks the body of a six-year-old little boy that looked like a child Jason Todd.
Bruce: That child is up to something. Dick, third favorite: I don't know, Bruce; he acts like a normal kid. Jason, #1 favorite: I doubt the old man's ever met a normal kid. Tim, least favorite: Bruce is right, but can you please not talk like the villains from Chicken Run.
