Hello my dear simmers! Aren't you tired of your highschool having the same weird npc's and characters? Well, if you are I have the solution for you. In this little project I have recreated the Copperdale Highschool teams from scratch, this is part 1 of 4. They are all assigned to their specific after-school activities and each have their own likes, dislikes and skills.

These sims were made mainly with base game + high school years and NO CC whatsoever, any other packs are optional for the pre-chosen milestones, lifestyles, reputation, etc. If any pack other than base game and highschool years show up in the gallery it's a bug.

If you don't want them to move into houses as they're not (in theory) a family, place them into an empty lot, evict them and move them into the "other households" while in the manage households pannel, also if you want them to keep their specific roles/jobs don't forget to turn neighborhood stories off (can be done individually if you don't want it to affect other households).

something that has always fascinated me is the translation of literature somehow maintaining the timeless beauty of the words. how much of that lies with the specific flourish of vocabulary of the original text, and how much of that is the translator writing their own poetry on the basis of the first author's words?

perhaps a rhetorical question, wondering aloud.

In the Translation's Note of Alighieri's "Inferno" John Ciardi wrote: "When the violin repeats what the piano has just played, it cannot make the same sounds and it can only approximate the same chords. It can, however, make recognizably the same "music", the same air. But it can do so only when it is as faithful to the self-logic of the violin as it is to the self-logic of the piano."

The way I see it, the act of translation consists of 2 phases: catabolism and anabolism.

In the first phase, the original piece is catabolized and reduced to simple molecules. However, this reduction doesn't cause a loss in value for a good translator always makes sure that the translation chamber is an airtight construction. Thus, nothing can escape and nothing can be lost.

Then comes the second phase - anabolism. Our translator, using these simpler molecules of the original writing, synthesizes a new body of work. The "glue", however, is the translator's. The stronger the glue, the longer the body can withstand the hurricanes of time.

To put it simply, the act of translating a piece of writing roughly follows the outlines of metabolism.

I have played over the music of that scoundrel Brahms. What a giftless bastard!

Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky had a lot to say about Brahms’ music- all bad. Johannes Brahms, for his part, didn’t seem to much enjoy Tchaikovsky’s music, either. He attended a rehearsal for Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony and fell asleep. Although the two composers share a birthday - 7 May, with Brahms, born in 1833, being seven years older - they illustrate opposite poles of the composing spectrum. Brahms was the great classicist, building vast symphonies and concertos with intricate musical logic; Tchaikovsky was the heart-on-sleeve emotionalist, as colourful as Brahms was sober.

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Johannes Brahms simply understood, felt and composed music very differently, and judged each other’s work accordingly — sometimes positively, sometimes brutally.

Tchaikovsky was far more an antagonist than Brahms. The Russian composer’s chief criticism of Brahms’ music was that it was too controlled and not emotional enough. In a letter to his patron in 1879, he wrote of Brahms’ violin concerto, “His music is not warmed by true feelings, there is no poetry in it, though it has great pretension to depth.”

As for Brahms, stories have long circulated that he fell asleep at a performance of a Tchaikovsky symphony.  There’s no evidence that this actually happened, but it’s true that Brahms was often seen taking an afternoon snooze in the cafes of Vienna and was known to fall asleep at the table or theatre.

Composers are rarely members of a mutual admiration society, but Tchaikovsky’s concerns seem to focus more on style than on musicianship. “Hard as I try to respond to his music,” he adds, “I remain cold and hostile. It is a purely instinctive feeling.”

In his diary, he was even more explicit, calling Brahms a “giftless bastard,” and his work “self-inflated mediocrity.” But his opinion seems to have softened in 1887, shortly after being invited for Christmas dinner at the Leipzig home of a friend, where he was “astonished” to find Brahms at the table, as well.

Brahms was there to rehearse his Piano Trio in C minor, Op. 101, and Tchaikovsky sat through the whole piece and made no critical comment. Writing a friend about the evening, Tchaikovsky called Brahms “a very nice person, and not at all proud as I had imagined.”

It was a major breakthrough, and Tchaikovsky would spend six days in Leipzig, encountering Brahms several more times. He wrote home that the German composer did everything he could to be agreeable — but was far better as a drinking companion than as a conversationalist.

Brahms attended a rehearsal for the Leipzig premiere of Tchaikovsky’s Orchestral Suite No. 1, and expressed approval of the first movement, but strongly criticized the jovially childlike march (which to our ears points ahead to the sound world of the Nutcracker).

A year later, Tchaikovsky arrived in Hamburg to find Brahms there, planning to attend a rehearsal of Tchaikovsky’s new Fifth Symphony. Having heard the piece, Brahms told Tchaikovsky he approved of the first three movements but disliked the finale.

Honest criticism like this rarely upset Tchaikovsky - and, besides, he hadn’t liked any of Brahms’ symphonies, either.

“Brahms is very amiable,” he wrote to his brother. “After the rehearsal we had lunch together and drank well. He is a very sympathetic person and I like his integrity and simplicity.” Tchaikovsky even tried—unsuccessfully—to persuade Brahms to conduct in Moscow during the next season.

Brahms was the one contemporary who, both in output and stature, matched Tchaikovsky, and public comparisons were expected. But, in a somewhat endearing turnabout, the two rival composers grew to appreciate each other as individuals, if not always approving of each other’s music.

Healing with Acoustic Resonance

Drumming is a profound way to promote healing. Through acoustic resonance, drumming helps restore the vibrational integrity of body, mind, and spirit. Acoustic resonance is the ability of a sound wave to impart its energy to a substance such as air, wood, metal, or the human body, making it vibrate in sympathy. For example, when you tap a tuning fork in proximity to another one of the same tone, both will vibrate. Acoustic resonance is an important consideration for instrument builders, as most acoustic instruments use resonators, such as the strings and body of a violin, the length of tube in a flute, and the shape of a drum membrane. A single-headed frame or hoop drum works best for acoustic resonance healing--the larger the drum, the greater the resonance.

The drum is a powerful tool for healing. As we play the drum, the drum then plays our bodies. The various frequencies of the drum interact with our own resonant frequencies, forming new harmonic alignments. It releases negative feelings, blockages, and emotional trauma. Drumming can help people express and address emotional issues. Unexpressed feelings and emotions can form energy blockages. The physical stimulation of drumming removes blockages and produces emotional release. Sound vibrations resonate through every cell in the body, stimulating the release of negative cellular memories.

It accesses the entire brain. The reason rhythm is such a powerful tool is that it permeates the entire brain. Vision for example is in one part of the brain, speech another, but acoustic resonance penetrates the whole brain. The sound of drumming generates dynamic neuronal connections in all parts of the brain even where there is significant damage or impairment such as in Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). According to Michael Thaut, director of Colorado State University's Center for Biomedical Research in Music, "Rhythmic cues can help retrain the brain after a stroke or other neurological impairment, as with Parkinson’s patients…." The more connections that can be made within the brain, the more integrated our experiences become.

It induces natural altered states of consciousness. Rhythmic drumming induces altered states, which have a wide range of therapeutic applications. A landmark study by Barry Quinn, Ph.D. demonstrates that even a brief drumming session can double alpha brain wave activity, dramatically reducing stress. The brain changes from Beta waves (focused concentration and activity) to Alpha waves (calm and relaxed), producing feelings of euphoria and well-being. Alpha activity is associated with meditation, shamanic trance, and integrative modes of consciousness.

It helps us to experience being in resonance with the natural rhythms of life. Rhythm and resonance order the natural world. Dissonance and disharmony arise only when we limit our capacity to resonate totally and completely with the rhythms of life. The origin of the word rhythm is Greek meaning "to flow." We can learn to flow with the rhythms of life by simply learning to feel the beat, pulse, or groove while drumming. When drummers feel this rhythmic flow, especially at a slower, steady beat, they can shift into a state of deep relaxation and expanded awareness. It is a way of bringing the essential self into accord with the flow of a dynamic, interrelated universe, helping us feel connected rather than isolated and estranged.

Leon helped the old man carry his heavy bags, and the old man was grateful for his assistance. "Thank you, young man," he said, shaking Leon's hand. Leon merely nodded, his attention already on the next task. After a long day of helping out, the Fourth Prince decided to return to the palace. He knew that if he didn't return, Sariel would be upset, and Yves would be even angrier. He didn't want to see their angry faces, but the thought of it made him smile.

As the Fourth Prince walked towards the plaza, his feet seemed to have a mind of their own, leading him to the fountain. The cool water from the fountain made a pleasant gurgling sound, and he found himself standing there, almost as if in a trance. His mind wandered, thinking back to the sound of violin melodies that he would never forget. Those thin fingers caressing the strings, the slender arm moving the bow...It was a memory that lived on in his mind, even now, the black dress that was like a cloak of night, the snow-white hair, and those jade eyes that enchanted him... He found himself smiling as he remembered that encounter, even though it happened a long time ago. He felt a sense of nostalgia and longing as the memories of that person came flooding back to him.

But his mind also wandered back to the challenge he had had with the unknown violinist. Thanks to a passer-by, Leon had discovered her name - "Romarin". He had promised himself that he would reveal his own name to her the next time they met, but the conditions of their meeting were uncertain. But even if things changed, the result would ultimately be the same.

Leon couldn't deny that he had continued to come to the fountain, hoping to see Romarin again. The longer the time passed without seeing her, the more excited he became. But a voice inside him told him that he shouldn't get his hopes up. Romarin was an itinerant musician who moved from place to place on a daily basis, so it was unlikely that they would ever meet again. The more he thought about this, the more logical her words became, and for some reason...it made him annoyed. Finally, after a long pause, Leon decided to walk away from the fountain, which had begun to become his favorite stop.

As Leon turned to leave the plaza, his eyes suddenly widened in surprise. It was almost as if he had summoned her with his mind. Despite the distance between them, he could recognize her by her long, white hair and sparkling jade eyes. His heart raced and fluttered, a feeling that he couldn't explain. It was as if he was rushing towards her, but he composed himself, not wanting to make the situation awkward.

As Leon watched Romarin walk closer to him, he noticed something strange. Her walk seemed hesitant, as if she was afraid of something. The closer she got, the more Leon noticed something else. Her eyes seemed hard, as if she was trying to look back without turning her head. She was clearly wary, and for a moment, Leon wasn't sure what to do. Finally, it dawned on him...

Someone was following her...

Leon started walking towards Romarin, trying to be as quiet as possible. He didn't want to attract any unwanted attention. Finally, Romarin's jade eyes caught sight of him, and she stood in place like a statue. Leon did the same. Romarin gazed to the side again before she began to increase the speed of her walk towards him, and soon...they were face-to-face. Leon couldn't believe it--the distance between them had become non-existent.

"What a coincidence, indeed," Leon finally said with a small smile, trying to hide his surprise at meeting her again. Romarin's face softened slightly, but it was clear that she didn't have time for small talk. "Do you see him?" she whispered, her eyes never leaving his. Leon nodded quietly and looked behind her, noticing the unknown person running after her. He was clearly following her wherever she went. Leon went back to look at Romarin, this time with a serious look on his face. He could see that she was in danger – but what could he do?

In one fluid motion, Romarin's face twisted into one of disgust as she let out a heavy sigh. "Should I have a small chat with him?" Romarin was taken aback by the sudden change in Leon's tone, as he spoke more firmly than she had ever heard him before. "I didn't ask you to do that," she muttered through gritted teeth, trying to keep her voice low. "Don't try to be the hero now." Leon raised an eyebrow at her, surprised by her reaction. "So what's the plan?" Leon repeated, crossing his arms in front of his chest and waiting for her answer. Romarin let out another sigh, this time with a tinge of tiredness. "Just follow my lead, okay?" She said, not waiting for an answer. And suddenly, Romarin took Leon by the collar of his shirt and pulled him towards her. They stood inches apart, eyes locked on each other's. Then, in a moment of unexpected intimacy, their lips met together.

Leon's eyes widened with shock as Romarin's lips met his. He felt like time had stopped as they kissed, the world around them fading away into obscurity. Romarin's eyes were closed tightly, as if she was lost in the moment. When she finally pulled away to take a deep breath, her eyes opened again, this time meeting Leon's with a look that seemed to be an apology. She said something, but in that moment, Leon was so dazed that he couldn't quite make out what it was.

"Listen," Romarin started, “I know what you’re thinking. How could I be so bold to do this without any hesitation? But-” but before she could finish, Leon's hand touched her cheek. He looked at her with determination as he spoke. "He's still there," he said quietly, and then his mouth met hers once again. The kiss was gentle and deep, their bodies pressing together in front of the world that seemed to exist only in their eyes. Their hearts raced in sync as they held on to each other, forgetting the looks of those around them who didn't know what their connection was. With each passing moment, their fake kiss turned into a reality that only they could see...

After a long moment, their lips finally parted and Romarin took a deep breath. She touched her lips with her fingertips, looking behind her to see that no one was following them anymore. A look of relief washed over her face. She finally turned her gaze to the man with the amber eyes. "What. Was. That. For?!" She asked sharply, her voice filled with a mix of anger and confusion. Leon looked at her with a hint of amusement in his eyes. "You tell me, weren't you the one who took the initiative in the first place?" he said in a matter-of-fact tone. "T- true, but I didn't mean for it to go any further," Romarin said, looking away from Leon as she spoke. She was clearly embarrassed by what had just happened. But when Leon spoke up, she forced herself to face him once again. "You didn't break the kiss I gave you though," he said, causing her face to flush a deep shade of pink.

Romarin's cheeks turned a brilliant shade of crimson as Leon continued to tease her. "Tch...because if I broke that kiss in the middle, it would give away that we were pretending," she said, her voice a little higher than normal. "Pretending...?" Leon repeated with a sly smile, his eyes sparkling with humor. Romarin's skin seemed to burn with embarrassment as she realized that she had been caught off-guard by his teasing. She looked away with a huff, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of seeing the redness on her cheeks.

Romarin spoke in a firm, almost threatening tone, her eyes narrowed as she gave Leon a warning. "If you tell anyone about this, I'll hunt you down and hit you with my violin bow." She said, ignoring the blush that was now starting to bloom on her cheeks. Leon chuckled at her words, but he knew that she meant every word. "Understood, I won't tell a soul," he said with a nod, a promise sealed between them.

"Leon," he said, his voice carrying an air of authority that made Romarin's heart skip a beat. She knew this was the moment he had been waiting for, and for a brief second, she wondered if she was ready for it. "What? Have you finally decided to tell me your name?" Romarin asked with a hint of amusement creeping into her voice.

She expected him to tease her, to play it off as if it was nothing, but he didn't. Instead, he simply smiled at her, the tension between them melting away with the mere mention of his name. "Leon," she repeated, the sound of it rolling off her tongue like a symphony. As if realizing the weight of the moment, she stepped back, suddenly shy beneath his gaze. "Don't think that we have become friends," she protested, but he could see the hint of a smile on her lips.

"As expected, your ego is huge it makes me want to punch you," Romarin said in an almost imperceptible voice. Leon heard her, and his eyes narrowed as he saw her turn to leave, his smile fading into a look of sadness. But then he noticed that she had stopped in her tracks, her eyes now warm and kind as she looked back at him.

"Thank you, Leon," she said, her voice soft and genuine, which surprised him as he saw a side to her that he hadn't seen before. He stood there for a moment, frozen, not quite sure how to respond. Then, with a deep breath, he mustered up the courage to speak. "No problem," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Anytime." He felt a strange warmth in his chest as he watched her walk away, wondering what the future might hold for them.

This sims 4 legacy challenge is inspired by the Not So Berry challenge made by Lilsimsie and AlwaySimming. You are allowed to start with 1800 simoleons if you want it to be a bit easier. The sims must resemble the color of their gen in some way, whether its hair, eyes, or clothes.

You have always been sheltered by your parents when you were younger, having no clue what is out there for you. But here you are, grown up and ready to take on what the world throws at you. You never really knew anything about who you really are, since you didn't really get to experience any wild things, but there was one thing for sure: you loved music. All types of music.

She’s a redemption arc durge and also my lil boo thang.

Some insight to her appearance:

The scripture on her face and black eye are supposed to represent her Badness (like a physical manifestation of her shame and guilt, no actual logical reasoning for it lol) and it also indicates the two different sides of herself that she struggles to balance. Her tear stains represent that struggle.

After she redeems herself (2nd photo), the scar on that side of her face still remains, a bitter reminder that her past will always be a part of her regardless of how desperately she tries to set things right.

Rowan is a human bard, her instrument of choice being the violin. I think that it compliments her personality since its versatility allows it to be either somber/haunting (classic violin), or spunky/upbeat (fiddle). Particularly during the beginning of her journey, she flips back and forth between these contrasts frequently.

She’s kindhearted, often willing to help those in need, but she is not a pushover. She doesn’t mind bullying those she deems as “bad” to get what she wants— or just bullying them in general (subconsciously projecting how she views herself onto them and punishing them the way she believes she should be punished for her urges).

She will expect something in return for her good deeds, as she believes good should be rewarded. “If being good is thankless, then who will want to be good anymore?” She’ll accept rewards in the form of assistance, gifts, and gold (obviously gold is preferred, she has to save up for a better fit. Being that swagless is just adding onto her list of crimes against humanity)

Rowan is a very difficult person to gain the trust of, and she does not initially tell anyone about her urges. She is very suspicious of everyone’s intentions and generally keeps her distance.

She has a hard time with Astarion, since she immediately senses that he has a lot to hide (again, projecting— she is hiding horrible things from everyone, and assumes the same of anyone else who is equally as secretive). They don’t typically get along to begin with, but there is a mutual attraction.

When he confesses his vampirism to her and hopes that she’ll spare some blood, she feels empathetic. Although they had not seen eye-to-eye before, she sees herself in him at this moment— both victims to their urges under circumstances they didn’t ask for. She finds it in herself to help him out.

Unfortunately, he kills her (bruh moment). She is angry once revived and pulls away from him again, feeling as though her trust has been taken advantage of. Ultimately, she decides to forgive him for reasons unknown to her (this is circling back to seeing herself in Astarion, and she is fulfilling her desire for forgiveness by forgiving him. She has 8 wisdom though so she has zero ability to realize this LMAO)

Not long after this, Alfira is killed at camp. She’s able to get away with it, but the guilt eats away at her day by day.

Despite her attempts to choke it down, the truth forces its way out, desperate to be known and understood. She decides to tell Astarion, someone who she hopes will acknowledge her struggles instead of shunning them due to their similarities. His acceptance of her draws her closer to him, taking interest in the solidarity between them.

Eventually, she finds out that red is definitely her color. Although, while the fits are hard, they are impractical (booboo armor class). Trooper that she is, she accepts it as still being an upgrade from before.

She gradually becomes less patient as time goes on, growing weary from constantly keeping a lid on her urges. She allows herself to participate in more minor cruelty as a result, hoping it will grant her some relief. She is still keen on doing the right thing, but her attitude plummets and she often takes pleasure in maiming those who are on the opposing spectrum of her morality.

Around this time, she is also approached by Astarion, who wishes to sleep with her. Since she is attracted to him, she agrees, though she doesn’t expect anything other than a FWB situation. They both end up catching feelings (bruh moment #2). They become almost inseparable and he takes her to poundtown every other night until he pulls away for Astarion reasons (y’all know I’m not writing all that).

It isn’t until her urges almost kill Astarion—the only person she’s been able to truly trust with who she is— that she solidifies the fact that she has to stop giving in to them, no matter how small, as they clearly snowball into something uncontrollable.

After this, she realizes it would be safer for everyone to know the truth, even if it means losing a few friends. Luckily, they accept her, lifting the excruciating weight off her back.

This brings her much closer to Gale and Shadowheart, who have been with her every step of the way and choose to continue to do so even after she confesses. She concludes that she was wrong about them, and that not everyone is out to get her like she previously feared.

As you can see, it’s only uphill from here baby. She finally turned her swag on, acquiring armor that not only looks cool as fuck, but also has a respectable armor class. She even got drip for the entire crew, generous queen.

With support from her companions, she’s encouraged to go through with freeing herself from her urges. Although, she refuses their help during her fight with Orin. She sees that they’ve played their part, and that this fight is something she has to go through alone one last time. She reigns victorious in the end, though this leaves her feeling a little lost. How can she continue living after the suffering she’s caused?

Instead of wishing to punish herself for her actions, she tries to atone for them. In order to do this, she leans fully into “hero” status, no longer accepting the title of “morally-debatable hero”. She helps whoever she can, accepting the good karma as payment rather than objects or actions. She finds that this leads to better things than an immediate reward.

She also stops torturing bad guys like a freak and becomes more reasonable in her reprimands (if she can get better, can’t they?)

I don’t think she has fully forgiven herself yet, and I don’t know if she ever will, but she’s on the right path.

"What happens when Mayuri is disturbed by a whole lot of sound and fury."

He wasn't the biggest musical enthusiast, as the science man that he was. His life's soundtrack was the silence of his lab, the whirring of machines, frantic typing, the slicing of blades through flesh...

But, for some reason, he woke up with a certain song on the back of his mind that day.

And throughout the day, he could swear he felt it in his bones.

Maybe it wasn't the song at all.

Maybe it was just that day... He was still shaken.

"Ugh... Will this headache never stop?!"

Mayuri Kurotsuchi hated anything that interrupted his efficiency. Headaches being one of the worst offenders. And with all the work he had to do, too!

That would be one long day,indeed...

And his mind went right back to the song he was thinking about. By some human composer named Vivaldi. Antonio Vivaldi. And it was called "Four Seasons" but... Mostly "Winter".

Massaging his temples slightly, he was on his way to the 12th Division, and the song was still there. Why was he thinking about it so much?

Because it made his blood stir.

It made it boil. Not in a bad way like...

"Like that... Barbarian, does."

And it's happening again. Again his thoughts drift to Zaraki. This was unnerving, disturbing, something he didn't need at all. He had to fix that.

Somehow, he had to.

Or else, it would keep happening. It could keep happening.

Vivaldi's Winter. And those strings. Those strings cut like swords. Fast. Inclement. Like a terrible and fleeting memory.

Like his memories of the night before.

Down to the lab he went. His thoughts a mess and his heart pounding.

He just wanted his peace and silence back. But his thoughts had a lot of sound to them, his body was still singing tunes...

And he hated it. Every single bit of it.

He opens the door. Nemu greets him. Akon greets him. But he needed silence. Silence and distance from everyone.

He goes and locks himself in his personal lab.

"Ah, strings..."

He closes his eyes and breathes. No one could know. No one should know.

But then it all rushes back to him and he groans, mad at everything but especially at himself.

Why did he enjoy that so much?!

Why Zaraki throwing him around with so much violence, ripping his clothes off, pining him against a wall the past night... Made him feel alive like he didn't feel in ages?

Why was he shaking, thinking about that now?

Why. Why. Why!

He could feel his throat drying up.

Like the rhythm of that song, he could remember every moment vividly. It was just another fight that suddenly took a turn. That wasn't supposed to happen. That shouldn't have happened!

It went against every one of his logical thoughts. It didn't make any sense. That bastard had no right, he had no...

But the kisses and caresses and the hushed sounds...

Like Winter's strings. Fast. Desperate. Harsh.

And Zaraki's voice:

"Aha. Suddenly I am not such a nuisance anymore, huh, Kurotsuchi?"

Mayuri sits down and hits his desk in blind anger:

"Yes! Yes, you are a nuisance and I hate you and I want you gone!"

While he buried his face in his hands, he could still feel it all. Every fleeting moment, every touch, like if it was happening then and there... In his lab.

Crescendo and Decrescendo.

Too long and too fast. He couldn't focus his thoughts. All he could remember was Kenpachi. His voice, his taunts, his scent, his body...

"Don't even... Try to struggle. No one will hear you. Today, you lost."

Zaraki smirks somehwere in his memories:

"And you are all mine."

And then sounds. Sounds and more sounds.

And silence.

And hushed goodbyes. And promises of hatred everlasting. At least from Mayuri's part, because Zaraki...

"Yeah, yeah. See you next week. Bound to lose to me again, anyway. Just make sure you... ahem..."Get mad at me" somehwere more secret. You don't want people hearing you, right?"

The nerve!

His anger was such he could break someone in half, right then. Anyone that dared getting near him would die a gruesome death! Anyone that breaks the sanctity of his silence...

- Master Mayuri?

Urgh. Nemu.

He massages his temples again. Anger boiling.

- Come on in.

Nemu opens the door:

- Excuse me.

Mayuri looks at her. And he blurts it out, probably led by those strings that kept killing him with their blinding speeds:

- Ah, Nemu... How can something be beautiful and terrifying at the same time?

He dramatically raises his hands:

- How can something make one feel regret... But also seek more of it? What kind of punishment is this?

Nemu looks at him in silence. Mayuri smirks to himself:

- Yes, I lost. Indeed, I lost. Nemu?

- Sir?

- Bring me tea. And...

She looks at him. Green eyes a mystery, so cold and so deep.

Like Winter:

- Nothing. Just make sure no one interrupts me today.

- Yes.

Nemu leaves.

Mayuri sighs. And starts humming.

Other strategies to combat anti-Zionism include demonstrating that Jews are the indigenous people of the Land of Israel, thus opposing the claim that Zionism is a form of settler-colonialism. The logic here being, a group of people who are indigenous cannot be colonists. While this is true, that is, that Jews are very much the indigenous people of Israel, it reinforces the progressive framework that power equals guilt. 

A third dominant strategy is to influence Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs in universities, hoping that in the mandated anti-racism and anti-discrimination trainings, DEI officers would include the long-suffering Jews. But as Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, founder of AMCHA recently writes, “it turns out there are numerous problems involved in trying to address antisemitism within a DEI framework... as a practical matter, DEI programs limit their ‘equity’ and ‘inclusion’ efforts to certain identity groups, which rarely include Jews.”

Focusing predominately on marginalized groups, DEI programs are not equipped to deal with the fact that for American Jews, “this is no longer the case.” DEI frameworks necessitate a worldview in which only marginalized people matter. By extension, Zionists, who are Jews with power, not only do not matter but must be dealt with opprobrium. This is not an opinion. It is a fact. In December 2021, the Heritage Foundation published a troublesome finding in which DEI staff harbor antisemitic views toward Israel and Zionism.

What, then, is the solution? At the forefront of this battle is the Institute for Jewish Liberal Values, founded by David Bernstein, whose 2022 book Woke Antisemitism: How a Progressive Ideology Harms Jews documents how the sweeping ideology of progressivism has given fertile ground for contemporary Jew-hatred, anti-Zionism, to flourish. Identifying a correlation between progressive ideology and antisemitism, Bernstein’s important work sheds light on how and why Zionism is perceived to be racism as progressive ideologues espouse the notion that people with power can be racists.

Naturally, the solution would be to disprove that Jews are privileged, or rather prove that they are beleaguered. But we are not. In numbers alone, we are, indeed, a minority. But we are successful; moreover, Zionism is the realization of the Jewish people’s will to take its rightful place among the nations: to establish secure political borders under the aegis of self-determination.

As Ze’ev Jabotinsky, a Revisionist Zionist leader and military commander of the Irgun, said in 1937, “Tell them [the Jewish People] three things in my name, and not two: they must get iron [i.e. weapons]; they must choose a king; and they must learn to laugh.” We are to read this statement as an extension of self-determination. This is Zionism: the Jew with the weapon who is a sovereign. This, however, is also entirely unpalatable to progressivism.

In her dreams that night, she dances.

She is in a ballroom she has never been in before, although it looks a bit like an amalgamation of every regency drama she’s ever loved. Her white dress twirls around her legs as her partner spins her through the crowded dance floor, her feet moving as if she’s known the steps her entire life. She thinks she would know the song that’s playing, the crescendo of violins, if only she could focus on it, but she’s too preoccupied by her changing partner.

Although the man in her arms never leaves her, he changes as they turn, from Hob to Morpheus, Morpheus to Hob, and back again. Whichever man isn’t dancing with her is watching them from the crowd, and she is becoming exhausted: the lights are too bright, the room too crowded, and she can’t focus enough to beg the man in her arms to tell her, please tell her, what’s happening.

The music grows louder, the strings drowning out any coherent thought, and for the first time, her partner lets go of her. It’s Hob, she notes absently, watching him disappear into the crowd, finding Morpheus and standing beside him, watching as she’s left alone, in the middle of a floor full of pairs.

Although she hasn’t ever before been able to control her dreams before, she feels a shift in the room as she comes back to herself, the music finally fading, the lights dimming to a more manageable level, although the couples keep spinning around her, unconcerned, as if she isn’t even there. She searches the crowd for a familiar face: Hob or Morpheus first, but then anyone, turning in circles but still unable to leave the ballroom floor.

Out of the corner of her eye, a man appears beside her, and in the logic of dreams, she knows who he is immediately.

“This is all a dream, isn’t it?” She turns and looks up at him, emotions at war on her face. She’s always been so easy to read, if you knew how to look.

“It is,” he replied, tone matching her own as he looked down at her, offering her his arm. She took it, allowing him to lead her back into the crush of people around them, the frantic pace of her earlier dancing slowed to something that feels almost soothing.

“Then it isn’t real.” She tries to smile at him, the expression not quite reaching her eyes.

“You don’t think your dreams are real? They are a part of you.”

“I’m not even awake. I won’t remember it when I wake up, or if I do, it’ll just fade away.”

“Perhaps. Perhaps not.”

“A bad dream, that’s all. It’s…better now.”

“Do you know why you dream?” He has danced them to the very edges of the group, where there is more room to breathe, and she takes a moment to appreciate the cool air coming in from the open windows at the edges of the room.

“The scientific explanation?” She frowns up at him, trying to remember anything she might have absorbed in a years-ago science classroom. Her head aches. She wants to lie down.

“Your dreams show you many things. Your hopes, your desires…your fears. Often, things you are unable to confront, in the waking world.”

They’ve stopped dancing, even if she can’t put her finger on when. She stands in his arms, making no move to pull away.

“What are you afraid of?”

Looking away, her eyes search for Hob out of habit, but he’s nowhere to be found. She can’t bring herself to say it; she doesn’t have to, but she is also unable to meet his eyes again, afraid of what she might find there. She doesn’t think she could stand it, if it was pity.

“It is not real,” he says, unbearably gently, and she starts to pull away. He catches her wrist, touch as soft as his tone. “Let me show you.”

She closes her eyes, and nods once, wanting to believe that he can.

When she wakes the next morning, her legs ache, as if she had spent the night on her feet instead of safely in the bed she shares with Hob. She can’t remember all of her dreams from the night before, but she has vague memories of dancing. These half formed remnants aren’t nearly as happy as the memories of the dream that followed: a white dress, a field of flowers, and both of the men she loves looking down at her, as if she had hung the moon.

She watches the man still asleep beside her for a moment, allowing herself to stay tangled limb in limb with him for just a few minutes longer. Later, they will talk, the three of them, together, about the fears that all three of them share. But for now, for this moment in the soft dawn light, she lets herself believe that one lifetime could be enough, not yet daring to hope for more.

twisted generation challenge

hello everyone! a little while ago i became obsessed with sims youtube and started playing sims again, some of the first videos i watched was challenges like "not so berry" "the 100 baby challenge" and etc. so i got inspired and thought "hmm.. why not make my own challenge and my own rules", so i did. i present the twisted generation challenge, inspired by the lovely 'twisted' series by Ana Huang. this is a four generation challenge based on the four books.

this does not mean you should or should have read the books in order to play this challenge, it was simply just an inspiration and the first thing i thought of when i made this. this is simply just a fun challenge i enjoyed making and hope people will like.

general rules for this challenge:

cheats are not allowed, you can use money cheats to settle in the first generation, but try not to use them else.

2. for each generation you can choose yourself if you wanna play as male or female, you must choose, you can't make your own sim and rules.

3. you can only move on to the next generation when all the reguirements are done.

4. i tried to make it as close to the books as possible but you don't have to make them look like how they're described in the books, remember this is just for fun.
