A lot of analysis of Ray and Sand moments leaves out the huge, foundational, overarching point that informs their story: Ray is rich and powerful, and Sand is poor and powerless. I’ve been noticing this for weeks and I find it so bizarre. And it’s not like the show has been subtle about it—Ray literally calls Sand a whore and treats him like an object that is his to pick up and put down as he pleases.
Why do people ignore it? Is it because the power dynamics of it all makes folks feel icky? Because it makes it hard to keep seeing their interactions as romantic? Because fam, that is exactly the point.

dc scoring in the 80s by creating a robin with a poverty-stricken home life, addict stepmom, complicated father, followed up by said mom's death and father's jailing causing the kid to be homeless, and overall making a robin who was very relatable to lower class dc fans, simultaneously upgrading their diverse character rep game.... just to turn around and kill off said robin and make the next two robins back to being rich as fuck and having those robins talk the most shit about a dead child who came from the worst streets in gotham.... is just soooo.....

NEW OLD WATCH
c. 1895-1903, gold-filled, made by the Waltham company. so she’s a New England lady through and through
and contrary to my standard “BUT THIS JANKY UNLOVED PIECE NEEDS ME” method of antiquing, I used some Christmas money to actually do the thing properly where a mechanical device is concerned. so she is recently serviced and keeps excellent time. I also love the use of texture to make the tone-on-tone design clear despite its monochrome look
now I think some skirts are in need of watch pockets...

One of my coworkers likes to do this thing where everyone below them or anyone who hasn’t been with the company as long as they have are stupid for not knowing things at work and they did it to me this morning when I came in and I stood up for myself and now I’m crying in my car because I HATE when people act like I’m stupid and I’m afraid I’m gonna get in trouble for what, standing up for myself? Anyway, happy Tuesday.
