I'm not blaming the op of the original post, or trying to imply anything about them as a person. and I don't want to single out this post in particular, because the issue is an broadly reaching trend rather than any one individual happening to write a post in five minutes one time.
but I really Really wish we'd stop and think if it's a good idea to say "girls turning into boys makes them inherently less interesting" on the transgender website
picking a privileged group to be the butt of a joke because it's lighthearted when nobody's actually getting hurt by doing so Only Works when everyone within that group is actually privileged. making jokes about how men are lesser than doesn't Actually affect the people who are actually within power, but Does chip away at the confidence and comfort of marginalized men who are In these communities to be exposed to it.
and the issue isn't about any one joke or poorly worded discussion in particular, but it's difficult to articulate why it can feel so alienating and unsafe to have things like this be so common within my communities without sounding ridiculous or risk being made fun of for not being able to take a joke. because the framing of implied privilege makes it easy to twist those feelings alienation into the entitlement that's assumed with men taking issue with being the butt Of a joke.
I simply think "this type of person is inherently lesser than" should be reexamined and thrown out as a talking point, even in a lighthearted context. because there will always be vulnerable people within those groups who already Hear that they are lesser than for existing

Apollo choosing to sing to explain what happened to Jason was so out of pocket I can't stop thinking about it 💀 I mean imagine you're a young Roman demigod standing in the crowd wishing to know how your ex praetor died so you can mourn and have some closure and some random guy just starts rapping about him out of nowhere

Eret: I feel so lucky I am able to be in a position where I’m able to help other people -- at the very least -- realize they are not weird, they are not alone, they’ve got someone who will look out for them. Because that’s something I didn’t have when I was growing up [...] I didn’t have any exposure to any gender stuff, or even LGBT stuff. Now, I actually get to be that representation for some people, and that’s f**king amazing for me. I hope I can continue to help people find themselves, and continue to be a positive representation for people, because I remember what it's like not to have that.
Eret discussing the importance of LGBTQIA+ representation.

Full video transcript:
[Responding who a dono who thanked Eret for helping them find and feel comfortable with their gender identity]
I’m so glad I could help you with your journey. I feel so lucky I am able to be in a position where I’m able to help other people — at the very least — realize they are not weird, they are not alone, they’ve got someone who will look out for them. Because that’s something I didn’t have when I was growing up, and I thought I was weird, I thought I was — I don’t know, I didn’t have any exposure to any gender stuff or even LGBT stuff. So I just thought, “Well these things going in my mind are f**king weird stuff.”
Now, I actually get to be that representation for some people, and that’s f**king amazing for me. I’ve gotten so many letters, and so many messages, and so many donations, and so many chat messages going, “Thank you for everything”. Meeting people in person at conventions, people literally shaking and going, “Oh my god, it’s you.” And I’m like, “I’m just me! I’m just a person. I just play games.”
To have people freak out over that is mind-blowing. I don’t think I’m ever going to get used to it. Like, I got recognized at my university, I used to get recognized doing random things, and people would just come up to me and go, “Seriously, thank you.”
I hope I can continue to help people find themselves and continue to be a positive representation for people, because I remember what it's like not to have that.
I want to make sure that anyone who feels alone, or anyone who feels they don’t have anywhere else to find understanding, I want to be there for them. I understand I can’t have that one on one connection, but at least I want a space where you can come to, and you’re surrounded by a big group of people who all go, “Yeah, I understand that! Yeah, we’re all on the same page.”

Any advice for beginner writers?
Just write.
I know that doesn’t actually sound like advice but it is. Writing is as much a thing you practice as playing a sport or and instrument is. In order to get better you gotta get started. You can’t get better if you don’t exercise the muscles for it. Which are your brain and your fingers lol.
I recommend just trying small things. I think the first things I published online are like 700-900 words max initially (now look at The Daycare Laboratory’s first chapter being 7226 words long…). It’s okay to keep it short, you don’t need to go further unless your brain takes you there. You don’t need to write dialogue if you don’t want to either. You don’t have to write descriptors if you don’t want to. Or you can do both or one or the other. Writing is like drawing as there is no right answer. It’s okay to not describe what your main character looks like until absolutely necessary or introduce them by explaining exactly who they are.
I’m not one of those people that tells themself to hit a specific word count per day or anything like that. It works for some folks but I’m a spur of the moment kinda person. I write when the idea hits and the words flow… It also means I don’t really plan if I’m immediately just writing down the idea. I usually map after I’ve started writing and even then it’s just loose thoughts. But that’s really for multi-chapter stuff and not really something I’mma dive in on unless someone pokes me about it.
You can try and emulate writers you like too. Poetry formatting, how dialogue is formatted, or the way something is described. Reading is a very important step in writing because everyone takes what they’ve seen from everybody else, scoops out what they like, and throws it into their brain blenders to make their own thing.
ALSO: YOU DO NOT NEED TO POST YOUR STUFF.
It’s your choice at the end of the day if you choose to share it out, you can make the choice to not and that’s perfectly okay. You choose whether you want to engage in the greater online by sharing your content out. You choose whether only your bestie sees it in discord or if you slap it on AO3. You choose if it’s for your eyes only. Or if it gets thrown in the recycle bin (both digitally or physically).
At the end of the day… Write. Write for yourself. Do everything one way and then write a new thing entirely differently. Play with fonts and whether something is a bold action or that soft “Oh.” of realization.
Space
your
words
out.
Use commas gratuitously (I know I do). Use the wordle of the day in a paragraph. Explain something that you’ve done dedicated research on or a job/activity you’ve done in incredible detail.
Just write.

I’ve tried like 500 times to articulate my thoughts about nonwhite superman and how much that adds to his childhood of loneliness and every time I hit a stumbling block because the topic makes me too insane to think but please hold my hand and imagine this little boy trying to grow up in rural Kansas and being the only person he’s ever known who looks like he does. This little boy who never has a proper answer when people ask where he’s really from, and even once he knows the truth of himself he can never safely share it. Please imagine him fighting every single day to belong and never being able to no matter how hard he tries because people will always find something questionable in the very way he looks. A lot of the superman mythos is dependant on Clark’s ability to assimilate but when you take that away what is left?? He’s just a kid fighting so hard for a belonging he’ll never have a hope in hell of being handed. Oh it hurts my heart

Superhero tournaments are really just wild like. You have this kid who can make things float and this kid sweating actual nitroglycerin. There are no magic invulnerability bullets here. If floating girl gets exploded, she will be exploded just like a regular person. And her opponent is very actively trying to explode her because he expects her to be able to not get exploded. It is their first year of high school they have had so little professional training. Nurse healer lady I don’t think your powers extend to raising the dead from a burnt crisp. Crowds are cheering them both on and there are no blast shields protecting the also very explodable audience members. Who on earth thought this was a good idea.

I think when people talk about things like desirability, they can miss the deeper point of why it can be important to analyze why people are seen as undesirable. It isn't just that a type of person is just... not hot... but often, it's the dehumanization of a person based on marginalized features.
For instance, I had a conversation with somebody about disability portrayal in media, and we had agreed that, historically, disability had been portrayed as a horrific ordeal. However, I think they missed the point as to why the "undesirable disabled" character was so appealing to a broader audience. The idea that disability is other, inhuman, and something that depersonalizes somebody from society is partly why those ideas were and are prevalent in mainstream media and culture. It is the idea that "nobody likes you. Nobody needs you. Nobody wants you" because of the person's marginalized body or experience or whatever it may be.
It isn't some superficial "oh why aren't I seen as pretty by everybody?" It is the knowledge that you are portrayed as undesirable in this way because it is a way to separate you from everybody else. It isn't about beauty, nor is it a selfish desire to be wanted by somebody. It is the desire to be seen as a person - an equal, regardless of who desires you or who does not.
