Rio x Reader (YOU SAVE HIS LIFE) Part 3
Tumblr media
You woke up lying on your stomach and the blanket over your back, covering your naked body. You reached out to touch Rio but all you found was a cold and empty bed.
He had been gone for awhile.
You opened your eyes and shifted up in bed before letting out a yawn. You felt disappointed he wasn't in bed with you and most likely left the apartment but you shrugged off the feeling and started listing off the things you had to do today...
Take a shower, clean the house, go to the grocery store... Make a grocery list. It feels weird not working. Rio says you don't have to and being gone for over two months means you don't have a job anyway. One day, he gave you a card and told you to go nuts with it. Anything you wanted. But you mainly use it for necessities, you feel bad using it for anything else.
Just as you were going to get out of bed the door opened and Rio stepped inside. He smiled at you, "Hey mama." He says before walking over to you and kissing your head. "I have to go out today. I'm seeing my son." Rio says to you. You smile at him and nod... You completely forgot he had a son. Rio walks over to his side of the bed and grabs the airplane he had been working on for the last two months that was sitting on the nightstand.
"I won't be home until late." He says while shuffling through the drawer in the nightstand. "Why?" You ask while running your fingers through your messy hair. He didn't answer, which was odd. He always answered your question. You turned to look at him and saw him stuffing something into his pocket. You got a glance at it and you recognized it as the bullets you took out of him when he got shot by Beth... Beth...
"Are you seeing Beth?"
He didn't answer again, he just sighed deeply. "Rio-" "Does it matter?" You narrow your eyes. "Yeah... It matters." You say. He sighs again but decides to ignore you for now. He walks over to your side of the bed cups your face and kisses your lips slowly and sensually for a few seconds before he pulls back, "I'll see you later baby, okay?" He then moves away from the bed and heads towards the door. He opens it before freezing and looking at you, "Don't be upset. I'll make it up to you. Okay?" He says. You nodded and gave him a small smile before he left the room.
Your day went by smoothly... Other than the lingering thought of Beth in the back of your mind.
And he did in fact come home late. You didn't hear him come home until 3AM. You heard him rustle through the kitchen before making his way to the bedroom. You were pretending to be asleep and facing away from the door when he entered. You heard him shuffling around before he got into bed. But he did something that he never did... He wrapped his arms around your torso and pulled your back against his chest. He buries his face into your shoulder and takes in your scent.
You were confused... Was something wrong?
"I know you're awake..." He mumbles into your neck.
You still don't say anything. You were just confused. He sighs deeply against you and holds you tighter. Yeah... There was something definitely wrong. "What's wrong?" You ask. No answer. After a few seconds, you decide to repeat yourself.
"Rio-" "Beth's pregnant."
Your heart stopped and your breath got caught in your throat. You knew they had slept together a few times as Beth told you when you were a part of her group. You knew she wasn't dead as he doesn't hurt children or pregnant women. You knew that. But... What now? Does this change anything? Is it Rio's or her husband's? Your mind was racing and your heart was pounding.
"If this is a deal breaker I-" "No." You don't even let him finish his sentence. It was insane to for him to even think that... Then it hit you. He was hugging you in bed because he felt like it was the last time he'd be able to hold you...
You shake your head before turning your head to the side to look at him. "Why would you even think that?" You ask. "Though it would be a dealbreaker..." He mumbles. "You think her being pregnant is a dealbreaker but not you killing her?" You say before letting out a chuckle. You turn your body around so you are facing him, "I'm assuming you're a possible father..." You ask. He nods slowly.
"But she's full of it." He says with contempt in his voice. "Once she gets an ultrasound I'll end it." He says. "You think she's lying?" "I know she is." He says. His thumb rubs circles into your hip giving you a fluttery feeling in your chest.
He moves the hand on your hip to brush the hair on your face behind your ear. "But... Let's ignore that now. I want to spend time with my girl." He says before pulling you into a tight embrace. You enjoy how he held you as he usually didn't in bed, it made you feel safe and comforted. Even after you had sex he didn't cuddle much. He let you rest your cheek on his chest and he had his arm loosely around you but that was it. He just wasn't a cuddly type of man.
But... Maybe this changed him because he...
Liked it.
He actually liked it. He even felt himself dozing off as he held you. He even felt comforted with you in his arms. You were changing him...
Maybe even for the better.

Yandere Whitebeard Pirates X Reader Part 1
Tumblr media
Summary: after (Y/N)'s older brother is murdered in cold blood she traverses the cold mountains of her island in an attempt to escape, only to be saved by some unsuspecting heros.
Warnings: gun shot, death, pain, trauma, lying, frost bite, start of emotional manipulation
A shocking outcome on the poll but here you finally go and thank you for all your love and support and your amazing patients ❤️
_________________________
The cold bit into my skin as I do my best to remain awake. Despite being raised in such cold climates I found myself being caught unawares and unprepared. Trudging through the cold windy mountains with nothing on my feet. I couldn't feel my toes anymore, my feet starting to turn a nasty blue and black color.
My hair no longer blew in the wind, frozen to my skull along with my tears. I shiver violently as my body tries to warm me up.
Even from the mountain side I could see my village, in flames. With my vision blurry it almost looked like the sun was rising, but I knew I wasn't that lucky.
I try and make it to the other side of my island, hoping that I could find a way off it and away from all the carnage. It was definitely a rude awakening when I was suddenly shaken awake by my older brother, yanking me out of bed and trudging through the snow towards the mountains. With no explanation as to why, but once I was outside, seeing the fresh warm blood melting and staining what was once pristine white snow with cannonballs and bullets flying in any which way I understood why we didn't have time to put on our shoes.
Houses were burning to the ground as families screamed inside trying to find a way out. And for those who had made it out trying to stop the bleeding of loved ones.
Even only being outside for a few moments I could already feel myself shivering in my light sleeping clothes. My brother holding me tightly by my hand as he drags me around as fast as he can. Weaving thought small alleyways and streets trying to avoid whoever was attacking. It had been made clear to me it was pirates, despite living in the new world we didn't fall under any Emperors protection, and we fairly ever saw marines aside from the occasional ship doing to re-supply. If they ended up here they are almost always off course. we were very close to the calm belt and pretty close to the red line, hence we are pretty out of the way.
Being a small winter island in an out of the way corner of the world came with many benefits. We almost never saw pirates, our island wasn't anywhere on the way to the final island so there wasn't a point to coming here, and with the lack of pirates meant a blatant lack of Marines, we were never in danger so it was never needed. At least never needed until now.
Panting heavily from running around our small little village I could hear loud laughing, Suddenly my brother stopped just as we were about to leave an ally causing me to run into his back.
I gasped quietly as I stood behind him. I couldn't clearly make out what I was seeing, but from the sound of pained screams and cruel laughing I figured I didn't really want to know.
I hid my face in my brother's back avoiding whatever he was staring at. I could feel him start to shiver as he slowly crouched down, leading me down with him, but I knew he wasn't shivering from the cold, he was shivering from pure unbridled fear.
"(Y/N), we need to be quiet and we need to be fast. We have to sneak by them and get to the mountains, once we get past them we will be able to find a boat on the other side and run. Do you understand me?"
I quietly nodded into his back, wanting to avoid making any sound.
Slowly while still being crouched down we moved out of the dark alley. Despite the carnage now being clearly in my line of sight, I stare at the wall of the building we were crouching beside. The last thing I wanted to see was the deaths of my friends. The thought brought tears to my eyes.
"We're almost there, just a little more."
I try to quiet my sniffles, even if it is dark. The fires that have been spreading start to illuminate the village as if it were the sun, and the soft crunch of the snow under my feet that seemed louder than ever when we are trying to sneak around and be unnoticed.
"HEY!!!!!"
My brother whipped his head around looking behind up then down at me with panic all over his face and fear in his eyes.
"RUN!!"
We bolt off into the tree that surrounds the mountains, I turn back to look at who was chasing us and for a split second it looked like a girl with long half up hair in some kind of robe, pointing a gun at us.
Just as I turn back around and run with my brother I hear the shot of her pistol.
"ARGGGGGGGGH"
My brother screams as the bullet narrowly misses me and hits his left shoulder blade. He released my hand from his crushing grip as he collapsed on the ground, clutching his shoulder in pain.
I'm about to get down beside him and help before he yanks me in front of him.
"RUN (Y/N), DON'T LOOK BACK JUST RUN!!!!"
Tears pour down my cheeks as I feel my brother's warm blood stain the snow and touch my bare feet, warming them but sending a chill up my spine.
"no, I d-don't want to l-leave you."
My voice was choked with sobs, as I looked past him and saw the shooter calling over more of her crew.
"You need to go. Find the boat on the other side of the and run, don't stop till you find help."
"I can't"
I can't help the hiccups that come out as I beg for him to get up and come with me, to hold on and to run with me.
My heart was beating a mile a minute. I swear it was about to explode.
"Please (Y/N), I can't watch you die, run. Live for me, find peace for me."
His voice crashed as he banged me to run. I could slowly see that light fading from his eyes. The blood poured out of his shoulder like a waterfall, clearly it hit an artery. I sobbed loudly as I clung to him begging him not to leave me and to get up.
"HE'S DOWN, GRAB HER!!!"
I look up to see several of the pirates making their way over to me and my brother, the woman no longer pointing her guns but still holding them. Now she was accompanied by three clearly tall and muscular men, all coming out of the town and making their way over to us.
I looked down at my brother again, seeing his pale skin and his dark lifeless eyes grow cold as ice. I gently kissed his forehead with shaky lips before getting up and running as fast as I could, regardless of my gut reaching sobs and hiccups.
I could hear them chasing after me, yelling and telling me to stop. Once I was in the tree line I started to zig zag through the trees, trying to be as quiet as possible while also avoiding being shot. Once I was a ways up the ridge I looked back to see the flames of my home grow exponentially.
I no longer heard the yells of the pirates chasing me but I didn't want to risk it so I continued up the mountain, cold rocks and ice cutting into my souls. I was clearly making bloody footprints making it easy to follow but if I'm lucky I'll make it to the boats quickly, leaving no more trails to follow.
I continue hiking up the mountain shivering like a scared lamb, all alone with my consciousness beginning to fade. Black spots started to appear in my vision, fading and reappearing. Between my fading vision and the darkness of the woods at the dead of night I could feel myself fading bit by bit.
It couldn't have been more than a minute till I collapsed into the cold snow.
"N-no, I-I can't d-di-e h-here~"
My voice faded into a whisper as I black out unable to move any further. But before I had completely passed out I saw a great brilliant light of blue and gold. Maybe this was the end of me, I could feel my last tear fall, sad I couldn't fulfill my promise to my brother, I guess now I could apologize in person.
—————————————
Consciousness came to me slowly, my body felt numb, like pins and needles had appeared all over my body, my extremities especially. I tried to move, lifting my hand only for it to feel like they were trapped under boulders. I tried to open my eyes, only to shut them just as quickly from the brightness of the room I was in.
I groaned in pain, even just trying to move a little bit hurt. Warm tears moved down my cheeks. Small sobs escaped my horse throat. I felt something small hop up on my bed, I felt what seemed like a small paws brush on my thighs over and over. A quiet whine came from what I now assumed was a small dog.
On one hand I was glad I wasn't dead, but on the other hand I didn't know it was possible to be in this much pain. Through my small sobs I didn't hear the creak of a door opening or the gentle footsteps coming closer to the bed.
It wasn't until I heard the dog on my lap bark and growl a little at the new stranger I even noticed someone was in the room.
"Quit it Stefan."
It wasn't until I felt the bed dip from the man sitting down beside me that I tried to open my eyes to see who was there but it was all still too bright. Soft hiccups left my lips now as I cried and tried to speak to this stranger.
"Shhhh, pretty girl. it's ok."
The man above me gently cooed as he gently ran his fingers through my hair, giving my scalp a light massage. I tried to do what he suggested and took a deep breath, holding it for a second and letting it out again.
"There we go, atta girl~."
After a few more deep breaths I tried to open my eyes again, I did it slowly and kept my eyes squinted, I could make out tan skin and an orange, what I assumed to be a hat, on the man's head.
"Ohh, it's too bright isn't it, here, gimme a sec."
The weight was lifted off the bed and the dog gave another little bark at the man. I heard the sound of shades being drawn and the light shining through my eyelids diminishes.
The man walks over and sits beside me again. I felt his unusually warm hand being pressed to my cheek.
"Lets try opening those lovely eyes again, huh?"
I slowly started to open my eyes again, after a second of adjustment and waiting for my tears to slow I looked up to see a handsome man with a big grin looking down at me. Now that I could see him properly I saw his incredibly toned skin, skin that just so happened to not have a shirt on it. He had a dark red beaded necklace around his neck and an orange hat on top of soft black locks. Looking over to the paws on my legs I saw a little white dog with a crescent moon mustache.
Looking back over to the handsome young man I tried to ask him where I was and what had happened. The last thing I remember was seeing a bright light before passing out in the snow. But when I tried to speak all that came out was sad little whimpers that hurt.
More hot tears fell from my eyes at the pain, I tried to lift my hand up to my throat but it also wouldn't move.
"Ohhh, Shhhhhh sweet girl, it's ok, it's ok. Just breathe, I'm going to go get someone who can help you ok?
I nodded as much as I could as my head fell back onto the pillow as I closed my eyes again, trying to manage with the pain as much as I could. I could hear his footsteps walk out and the quiet latching of the door being shut again as I tried to comprehend what was happening and how I got here in the first place.
As the sobs left my body I faintly heard the dog the man before called Stefan whine a little as he crawled over to my face, licking away my tears for me.
After a few minutes I opened my eyes again when I heard footsteps outside my room before the door began to creak open. The shirtless man came back but this time he wasn't alone. Another man with blonde hair and an open button up shirt and a blue tattoo on his chest, a tattoo that I recognized. When the other man closed the door I saw the large purple tattoo on his back, the mark of Whitebeard. I was with pirates.
I began to thrash around as much as I could, which really wasn't much but it was enough to have Stefan jump off of the bed. My breathing was uneven as I started to hyperventilate as I tried to get up to run away. All I was really able to do was to push the blanket off of me a little before the blonde instructed the other man, who he called Ace to hold me down.
Ace ran over to me moving in behind me so I was leaning against his back as his two strong hands held onto my wrists. Having him move me into a sitting position was less than comfortable but it wasn't as bad as when I finally saw why I was in so much pain.
My fingers, toes and parts of my legs and arms were black and purple, a clear sign of serious frostbite. No wonder I was in so much pain. but what was I expecting? Passing out on a snowy mountain in your PJ's was bound to do some serious damage. Tears continued to fall as I 'thrashed' to get out of his grip.
I knew there was no point, my merger strength was nothing compared to a seasoned pirate, but there was no way I wouldn't try.
"Marco, do something!"
I saw 'Marco' walk over to me with a syringe filled with some kind of liquid, making me try and thrash around even more. As he got closer Ace pinned down one of my arms to the bed. I began shaking my head back and forth, begging them to stop.
"N-no please n-o."
I could nearly get the words out as I begged them not to do anything.
"Shhhhh, Baby Bird. You're ok. we aren't going to hurt you."
I couldn't help my body trembling as he motioned for Ace to hand him my arm.
"Deep breath Firefly, just take some deep breaths with me."
I could feel Ace's chest rise and fall as he took some deep breaths, encouraging me to do the same.
At first I refused, keeping my eyes trained on Marco and the syringe in his hand, waiting for him to stick me with it, wondering what it would do.
But after a minute or two of him staring calmly into my eyes, massaging my wrist with his hand I could help but calm down as Ace helped me breathe.
"There we go, Little Bird~. This is just gonna help you sleep a little so we can fix you up a little more."
Ace began to gently rock me back and forth in his arms as Marco managed my wrist, slowly bringing the syringe closer and closer.
Ace nudged my cheek with his, pushing my head to look away.
"It's ok Firefly, it's just gonna help you nap a little, you'll be up before supper.
—————————————
Waking up a second time was a lot less painful than before, if not a little more panicked, I was able to sit up by myself and when I looked down to see my hands. They were wrapped in bandages that went up most of my arms, the same bandages going up my legs.
"Good to see ya finally up. Figured the dose Marco gave you wouldn't last too long, you musta just been really tired."
I gasp as I look to my right, seeing a tall man with brown hair, a goatee and wearing chef's clothes.
"The names Thatch, I'm Whitebeard's fourth division commander, I also just so happen to be the cook here on the Moby Dick."
My mouth hung open as I tried to figure something out to say, I couldn't help my trembling as another member of the Whitebeard Pirates sat in front of me. Talking to me as if we were friends.
I looked down at my hands again, not knowing what to say to him. All I could do was fiddle with the bandages only for a warm hand to engulf both of mine, making me look back at Thatch.
"Better not, Marco would have my head if I let you take off your bandages. He did his best to heal you but couldn't heal all of it, your frostbite was super extensive. He applied some kind of cream all over the parts he couldn't fix right away before he applied the bandages."
I slowly nodded at him, trying to subtly pull my hands away from him. His one hand completely eclipses both of mine but he wouldn't let me go, just giving me a little smirk when I looked back up at him.
"Come on Buttercup, we better get some food into ya, you can't heal with an empty belly."
Once he mentioned food I realized how hungry I actually was, not just hungry but really thirsty too. I nodded a little, keeping my head down as I tried to swing my legs over the edge of the bed to stand up only for Thatch to let go of my hands wrap his arm around my shoulders and one under my knees.
I flinched a little as he hosted me into his arms, my back was fine but my legs throbbed with pain.
He cringed a little at the sound I made when he picked me up.
"Sorry Buttercup, I know it hurts but trust me, having you walk right now would be a hundred times worse."
I begrudgingly nodded my head. As much as I didn't like being carried around if just being picked up hurt, I didn't want to know how much it would hurt to actually walk around.
Thatch smiled down at me and started to walk to the door, the second he opened it after adjusting me a little I heard barking.
I looked down to see the little dog Stefan jumping up at me, his front paws resting on Thatches legs.
I could feel the rumble of Thatches chest as he laughed at the little dog's antics.
"We had to keep him out of your room because he kept trying to take your bandages off, he really doesn't like them for some reason. But he's been guarding your room ever since we kicked him out."
Thatch walked down the long corridor and up a large flight of stairs. Stefan follows close behind. As he walked up onto the main deck I squinted my eyes. Wherever we were was hot, even as the sun was setting it was still so warm, a sharp contrast from my home island.
You could see nothing but sea from all angles, no land for miles most likely. The sun looked beautiful, reflecting the sun and the beautiful colors of the sky.
"Hey Firefly! You're awake!"
Ace jumped off the railing of the ship and ran over to us. I flinched back as he came closer and reached his hand out to touch me.
His face flashed with concern, looking over to Thatch.
"What did you expect, Fire Fist."
He rolled his eyes but before he could say anything someone cut him off.
"She's hurt, in a new place and surrounded by new people, slow it down Ace."
Thatch turned slightly and I was just able to see over his shoulder, Marco was walking over to us.
Ace nodded sheepishly. Marco walked in front of me, hunching over a little so that we were face to face, not giving me a whole lot of breathing room considering his last statement.
"How are you feeling, Baby Bird? Woozy, dizzy, nauseous?"
I tried to turn my face away, almost nuzzling into Thatches chest but Marco cupped my cheek with his hand, gently forcing me to look at him. He lifted his other hand to my cheek, slowly turning my head side to side ever so slightly. His eyes examined every inch of my face.
He raised his eyebrow a little, waiting for me to respond to his question. Thatch gave me a little nudge, silently encouraging me to answer him.
"I.... I feel f-fine."
My voice was barely above a whisper. Marco tilted his head at me, clearly waiting for me to say more. After a few more seconds of silence Thatch decided to speak up.
"Come on Marco, like you said, she's scared. I bet she'll feel more talkative once she gets some food in her system."
He signed but nodded, backing up a little, releasing my cheeks from his palms after giving them a stroke with his thumbs.
Thatch smiled down at me as I curled into myself as much as I could while being left and without hurting myself too much. It was uncomfortable being so close to so many dangerous and world renowned pirates.
Thatch flipped around, pushing a swinging down open with his back and walked down a small flight of stars and into a mess hall, but not before shooing Stefan away, saying no dogs were allowed.
Looking around I could see the mess hall being completely empty. it made sense, with it being practically dark now everyone would have had dinner by now.
I figured He would set me down on one of the many benches lining the long tables, but instead he flips around to open another set of doors and lead into a large, pristine kitchen. He gently sets me down on the counter top.
I shivered at the cold counter that touched the part of my bare thighs that wasn't covered in bandages. Ace and Marco stepped into the kitchen not too long after us. Ace noticing the goosebumps that had spread all over my skin almost instantly.
"Well that just won't do."
He hopped up onto the counter with me and grabbed my waist, hoisting me to sit on his lap. I yelped loudly, making Thatch look over his shoulder from his cooking only to smirk and look back once he knew I was 'safe'. At least in his terms anyway. On my terms on the other hand, this felt less than safe.
I adjusted myself in his lap a little but with his strong arms wrapped tightly around my stomach there wasn't much I could do. He rested his chin on my shoulder lightly.
He felt warm, almost too warm, as if he had a fever. his body heat began to smother away the cold from the room. After a minute small flames appeared all over his arms. I screamed a bit, causing Marco who was leaning against the counter, staring at a clipboard I haven't noticed he had and Thatch was still making me dinner to look over at us.
As I panic, screaming for him to let me go and try to get out of Ace's arms before I get burned I could hear Thatch laugh a little at my trying to get away. I didn't seem to understand what was so funny. One of his cremates had just erupted into flames with me held in a vice grip and he was laughing. If I wasn't so scared right now and badly injured I would try to smack him, pirate or not.
"Shhhhh, baby bird. You're ok. Calm down."
Marco was much more sympathetic to my fear. He stepped in front of me, holding my hands that had been trying to shove Ace's arms away from me, bringing my knuckles to his lips despite my harsh yanking.
"L-Let me g-go!!!!"
Ace leaned his head up, pressing his lips into my ear and whispering softly.
"It's ok Firefly, just calm down for a second. Focus on Marcos hands, on my voice."
After another second of panic I calmed down a little, thought it was less of me calming down and more of me losing what little stamina I still had.
Marco and Ace kept talking to me softly, coaxing me into relaxing as much as they could.
"See Firefly? It's not burning you. We would never let that happen."
I whimpered softly as they both held me close, keeping me from thrashing around. But at this point I don't think I could even if I wanted to. After a few minutes of Marco coxing me to take some deep breaths, Ace spoke up again.
"Do you know what a Devil Fruit is Firefly?"
I nod stiffly.
Thatch came to stand beside us. A plate of warm food in his hands. I stared at it longingly until Marco gripped my chin making me look at him again as Ace continued.
"Tell me what you know?"
After a few more deep breaths it was able to squeak out a reply.
"They are magical fruits that give whoever eats them powers, but they can't swim anymore."
I could feel Ace nodding as Marco gave me a smile.
"Anything else?"
I shake my head. While I knew what devil fruits where I was never interested enough to actually learn anything in detail.
"Well Baby Bird, there are a lot of different kinds of Devil Fruits. Some give you powers, some let you turn into animals and some like Ace can control elements, even becoming them if he wanted too.
I look back down at Ace's arms, the little flames still there.
"I can control the heat of my flames, Firefly. I could use them to burn my enemies, or warm up those I care about."
Ace lifted one of his hands and covered it completely in fire. Marco took one of my hands he was holding and placed it over Aces. I panicked for a second before I realized that the flame wasn't burning me. Just warming up my hand.
"See Buttercup, we wouldn't do anything to hurt you."
Thatch nudged Marco out of the way, causing him to let go of my hands, replacing them with a warm bowl of soup.
"Now eat up, you can ask all the questions you want once you are done."
—————————————
Once I had finished eating, Thatch had taken the bowl and washed it, Marco taking his previous spot in front of me. I looked up at him. Not knowing what to do next.
He looks down at my arms and legs, before looking back into my eyes.
"Before anything else I should check on your wounds and change your bandages. It's only been a few hours But I'd rather be safe than sorry."
I nodded at him, keeping my eyes down. As sweet as they all had been to me they were all more than a little intimidating.
Marco huffed a soft sigh as he picked me up and started walking out of the kitchen much to Ace's displeasure.
The second I was out of his arms the room seemed even colder than it was before, making the goosebumps coming back with a vengeance. Once Marco noticed he leaned down and whispered into my ear.
"We'll also find you some better clothes."
As warm as it was earlier the night came with an uncomfortable chill in the air especially out at sea. I nodded silently and nuzzled into him a little. As scared as I was, being surrounded by unknowns hasn't really hurt me yet and I didn't really have any option anyway.
Walking down a bunch of winding corridors we eventually end up in what I assumed was a med bay. It was really big all things considered. Not something I thought would have been on a ship but considering how big the ship was and how many crew members were aboard it made sense.
Marco set my on a cot closest to what I assumed was his desk. Behind it being several cabinets that lined the entire wall. Some of the doors had locks on them, others didn't. He walked over to one of the cabinet doors and opened it pulling out a small canister and some more bandages.
I nodded after a second. He smiled up at me before looking back to my leg focusing on the task in front of him.
He came over and knelt in front of me, taking one of my calves into his hand, looking up at me for permission. After all that had happened he didn't seem like the person to ask permission but I felt a little better knowing he wanted to make sure I was ok with his going any farther.
He slowly started to unwind the bandages, letting me see the damage again. In all fairness it looked much better than before but it still looked pretty nasty.
He examined my calf for a second before his hands erupted in blur and gold flames making me scream for the umpteenth time today.
Marco looked at me sympathetically.
"Its ok Baby Bird, I have a devil fruit too. It lets me heal any injury on myself, it lets me heal others but it doesn't work as well."
His voice was low and calm as he explained his abilities to me.
"It was you."
Marco glanced up at me for a second before focusing on my leg again, humming a question an what I was talking about.
Tears fell down my cheeks onto my thighs Marco stood up immediately once he noticed, taking my cheeks in his hands.
I shook my head as much as his hands would let me.
"What's wrong Baby Bird? What hurts?"
"On the mountain, before I passed out and when you put me to sleep."
I looked into his eyes,
"I saw the same flames."
He smiled at me and pressed his forehead to mine.
"Yes Baby Bird, I was the one who found you."
A sob escaped my throat as I tried to compose myself, I needed answers.
"W-what happened?"
He sighs again.
"You're Island had been attacked by Pirates, we had happened to be nearby when we saw flames in the distance. Once we got there it had been too late, the town was in flames with hundreds dead. We were fighting the pirates and looking for any survivors when I saw a trace of blood leading to the mountains, that's where I had found you collapsed in the snow"
I couldn't help the choked sob that came from me before I was finally able to say anything.
"Survivors?"
I couldn't stop my tears once he confirmed everyone else was dead.
Marco gave me a solemn look, before shaking his head.
"A-are you-u su-sure?"
I could barely get the words out through my sobs.
"I'm so sorry Baby Bird."
I collapsed into his arms, feeling him hold me tightly as I sobbed into his chest. Nearly unable to breath through my grief.
"Don't worry Baby, we aren't going to let anything happen to you."
But little did I know about the horrifying smirk on his face. Or his plans for my future.

You'd already stripped from the sopping-wet, outer-layers of your gear, letting it sit in front of the wood stove to dry out. The weather was reaching the negatives, frost forming on the windows of the safehouse, a howling wind pushing against the crumbling walls.
Your extremities were numb, tingling as the cold seeped into your bones. The run-down building didn't help; cracks in the foundation and decaying floorboards let in the cold.
You were seated on an old wool blanket, one you'd found while clearing the house, which you'd wrapped haphazardly over you. Your elbows rested on your knees, thighs tucked against your chest to try and contain the little body heat remaining.
The heat of the fire warmed you, superficially, but you hoped it might ward off hypothermia. Your teeth chattered, the pauses of warm flames sending short bouts of shivers up your spine.
Your eyelids were heavy, half-shut as you stared at the fire, crackling wood that had embers landing by your feet. You didn't bother to move, merely watching the glowing pieces of charcoal as they fizzled out in front of you.
Ghost was hunched over on a rickety chair to the side of you, sitting in silence, cleaning his rifle. Your eyes would shift to his form every so-often, watching, studying. You were almost envious of the gun in his hands- he handled it with such care, knew it like the back of his hand.
Your mind hadn't stopped running through the entirety of the evening. You were grateful; he'd saved your life without a moment's hesitation- but you hadn't spoken since. It made things more tense than usual, especially once you'd realized you felt a bit more for Ghost than just respect.
He would sneak glances your way, wondering if you were still frozen. He'd pulled you from the river while escaping when evac couldn't make it in time. You'd slipped, fallen into the icy water and clung to the bank all while avoiding enemy fire. There was a rainfall of bullets pouring down on the two of you, yet he still managed to yank you from the freezing water.
He dragged you along, despite your adamant pestering, demanding him to leave you and continue. Adrenaline was pouring into every cell in your body at that point, hell-bent on making sure at least one of you made it back alive. He ignored you, as any sane man would, and ordered you to rid yourself of the soaking-wet clothes once you'd stepped inside the old building.
You were too cold to feel shame or embarrassment when you stripped down to your undershirt and panties. Though once you started to thaw out, your rational mind returning in pieces, you did feel a bit insecure. There was no place to hide, to find modesty while trapped inside the four walls with him. Even the wool blanket didn't allow for much coverage, it was nearly in tatters.
You didn't notice him staring, didn't see the quick glances up at you. He was concerned for you, of course, though the sight of your bare skin had his chest in a tight grip, his breathing in shambles. He'd never seen you so vulnerable. He had to hold his breath when you tugged your tactical pants down your thighs, look away when he could see the curve of your backside hugged by your panties.
Though, your eyes did meet, through the smoke-filled room, and you cleared your throat in an attempt to break the silence.
"Thanks," You muttered, your jaw managing to fight off the chattering for a moment.
"What for?" He asked, gruff and unwelcoming.
"Saving my ass," You looked over your shoulder. "You should've left me, though."
"Wouldn't be easy to explain, you goin' missin'."
You furrowed your brows. It was a disappointing answer, one you weren't expecting- but you weren't delusional. At least not entirely. You didn't think you'd get a warm, heartfelt response, though something more personal, intimate- which was highly unlikely, would've sufficed.
He was silent as he stared at you, hands slow as he continued polishing the barrel of his rifle. Your teeth still chattered, and you pulled your wet hair from your face in an attempt to feel the warmth of the fire a bit better. He let out a sigh, his shoulders falling when he realized you weren't warming up as quickly as he would've liked.
"Christ," He muttered, standing from his position to sit behind you.
His massive thighs encased yours, his chest meeting your back with a huff. He'd taken off most of his gear when you settled in, but lifted his shirt over his head to press his bare skin to yours. He wrapped an arm around your chest, pulling you back into him.
"You're bloody freezin'," He murmured in your ear.
You listened to the breathing in your ear, basked in the warmth that radiated off his chest. You let your head fall back, resting on his shoulder, and hour eyes glanced up at the mask on his face.
He grew more distant, a bit hazy as you felt drowsiness threaten to pull you under. Your eye lids began to flutter shut, the rhythm of his breaths lulling you to sleep.
"Stay awake," He said, tugging you back from the brink of sleep. "Not in the clear yet."
You sighed, shifting to your side as you cuddled into his chest. It may have been the tide of sleep pulling you back and forth, or pure delusion caused by early stages of hypothermia, but you didn't care how desperate you looked. He was radiating heat, allowing you to fold yourself against him- it was an opportunity you couldn't resist.
"You're warm," You uttered, punctuated by a soft sigh.
"Skin-to-skin'll warm you up faster."
He studied at you, as inconspicuously as he could, watching your chest rise and fall. The curve of your lashes, cheekbones highlighted in the orange glow- he'd always found you beautiful, even more so as you laid against him. A part of him was glad he'd stripped down with you, been able to feel your skin against his.
"Should I take off my shirt?" You asked, innocently enough, though you felt the pause, the hesitation in his words.
"Might have to."
You reached for the hem of your T-shirt, lifting it over your head before falling back against him. He was right, it was warm- like lying against a furnace. You exhaled, relief flooding through you.
"Better?" He asked.
You nodded. Your hands had come up to cover your chest, folding your arms. Your curled yourself up into a fetal position.
"Thanks," You muttered again.
He'd struck your confidence down, unintentionally, but his eyes on your body reduced you to hiding from him. Even in a life-or-death situation, it wasn't ideal to be nearly naked in front of your Lieutenant, especially not after coming to terms with your feelings for him. It didn't make it any easier that he'd saved your life, and didn't expect anything in return. You hadn't quite caught up to the reality of the situation and likely wouldn't until the feeling in your toes returned.
Your hands pressed to his chest, desperate for more heat, yearning for it while your body still shivered intermittently.
"You just nervous or still cold?"
Your eyes lifted to his, "Why would I be nervous?"
"Don't be daft," He replied.
He'd seen right through your attempt at playing innocent, trying not to open the door for anything other than professionalism. You couldn't afford to let your feelings be known, not with your entire body on display- you were far too vulnerable already.
"It's nothing you haven't seen before," You brushed him off.
"Don't think I've seen you naked before, Sergeant. I'd remember."
It slipped out- a moment of weakness while he gazed down at you. He'd crossed a line, an inadvertently risqué remark that caught your attention. Though he could see your lips part, your eyes dart between his, it didn't stop his heart from racing, choking back the urge to push you away.
"Didn't realize I was so memorable," You whispered.
"Cold's gettin' in your head."
He tried to turn back, revert to the abrasive man you knew him as, but it was too late. You'd already stuck your foot in the door, caught a glimpse of how he really felt.
"I don't think so," You muttered, curling into him further, your hands landing on his thighs. "You said it yourself."
He sighed, shutting his eyes as he tried to ignore how hot your hands were over his thighs. The sultry tone of your voice, your eyes glimmering in the light.
"That right?" He asked, a teasing cadence to his words. He wasn't one for falling into a trap.
"You did tell me to strip," You said, letting your head fall to his shoulder again. "Am I on your mind, Lieutenant?"
He clenched his jaw, watching your chest rise and fall from below him, your head tilted up to watch him. He couldn't resist, in any imaginable scenario you'd always get the best of him, whether he liked it or not.
He wondered if it was the cold, making your words out to be sultry and inviting, but when his hands met your waist and you fell into him, your beautiful eyes gazing up at him, he didn't care what it was; he just wanted you.
"All the fuckin' time," He said, low and harsh in your ear.
You swallowed. His words had immediately brought the remnants of heat in your body to the surface. It rushed over your face, settled between your thighs- everywhere you didn't particularly need it.
"Anything in particular?"
Your voice was reduced to a whisper, though you still had enough energy to pursue whatever it was going on between you.
"Fishin' for compliments?" He retorted, a smug tone to his voice.
"I want to know what you imagine when you think about me."
He slid his hands down to your thighs, cool to the touch, but under his palms it felt nice. He was burning up- from desire or the fire, he didn't know.
"Be easier to list what I haven't thought about, sweetheart."
You shivered again- this time, because of the callouses scraping against your smooth skin, the honeyed words that dripped out of his mouth. His rough hands kneaded the flesh of your thighs, moving slowly across your legs. You whimpered, a deep expression of impatience, and he chuckled in your ear.
"I've thought about you," You confessed, watching his head tilt to see you better. "Especially now."
He paused, "I ain't lookin' for a reward, if that's what you're gettin' at."
"No," You shook your head, your hands landing over his. "I've just been waiting for you to touch me."
"Hypothermia ain't enough to keep you subdued," He stated, watching you wriggle yourself back against him, desperate for more.
"I want you to touch me," You whispered.
It was a tie between wanting to stay within the norm and let yourself fall into the abyss of your desire. The threat of hypothermia was a good excuse, one you'd relied on to give you the edge you needed to admit to your feelings.
Your confession sent a rush of blood to his groin, enough that you could feel him hardening, pressing into the small of your back. You could hear him muttering curse words under his breath, especially as his hands ghosted over the seat of your panties.
"I like seein' you spread out for me like this," He said, leaning forward as his masked mouth brushed against your ear. "You want me t' touch you?" It was a rhetorical question, one spurred by the desire to hear you admit it again, words he'd only imagined you saying.
Goosebumps erupted over your skin, your hand leaving Ghost's thigh to rest over his. You pushed it down, finally, enough pressure over your pussy to make you whine.
"Please," You said, staring up at him.
He let out a short groan, hooking his legs under your ankles to pull them apart, spreading your thighs wider over his. Without your guidance, he stroked two fingers over your clit, still clothed, but it made your head fall back.
You let out a short breath of relief, planting your palms on either side of his legs as he moved his fingers in small circles.
"Yes," You breathed, arching your back into him.
He took your praise and continued, pulling your panties aside to press his fingers directly to the hot flesh of your pussy. His Adam's apple bobbed in his throat, swallowing down groans of satisfaction upon feeling how slick and soft you were.
His fingers slipped down, two finding your seeping entrance while his thumb continued rubbing over your clit. He pushed his fingers deeper inside of you, his free hand wrapping over your chest again, reaching blindly to squeeze and palm your breasts.
"You warm yet?" He asked, the rumble of his baritone in your ear. He knew just how to rile you up
"Don't-" You stuttered, "Don't stop."
"You're soakin' my fingers," He said, mostly to himself, though he heard the whimper that left your lips. "Listen to that."
You weren't oblivious to the sounds of your pussy as Ghost's fingers hooked inside you, coaxing your orgasm with patience and consistency. Usually, you would flushed with embarrassment, but Ghost's heavy breathing in your ear, his hand clinging to you, you didn't care.
"I told you," You said, lifting your head to meet his eyes. "I've been waiting."
He hummed, using his free hand to lift his mask over the bump on his nose, pressing his lips against your neck. Your lips fell open, moaning softly, panting into the cool air.
"Been waitin' on you, sweetheart."
Your stomach tensed, your fingers digging into the floorboards as you rolled your hips against his fingers. Your pussy fluttered around his fingers, feeling the beginnings of your orgasm.
"Ghost," You slurred, your hips rocking into his hand. "Right there- please," You whined.
He nudged your cheek with his nose, forcing you to leave your neck vulnerable to his lips and tongue. He slid his tongue over the tendons, following with a kiss to your pulse.
He sucked in a harsh breath when he felt your pussy constrict his fingers, wrapping around him with a tightness that nearly halted his movements.
"You cummin' on my fingers?" He asked.
You nodded, holding your breath as your abs tightened. Your body twisted in his grasp, gasping for air once the overwhelming pleasure had passed and you were left weak and boneless.
You turned on your knees to straddle his thighs. Your eyes were drawn to the sight of his flushed lips, wet with saliva. You leaned forward, engulfing his lips with yours, immediately throwing yourself against him as your tongue slid into his mouth.
He moved his hands to your waist, holding tightly while you unintentionally ground your hips into his erection, making him moan quietly into your mouth.
Your fingers slid down his chest, reaching his belt. You pulled away to look at his eyes- dark, nearly unnoticeable beneath the charcoal paint, but you could see his light eyelashes flutter against his cheeks. You'd never seen his face; up until now it was a well-kept secret, but the lower-half of his face was intoxicating, enough to keep your attention.
He offered you his lips out of pure lust; in awe of you, how your body reacted to his touch. He wanted to feel you with his lips, his tongue, glide it over every inch of your skin- he'd settle for the restrictions holding him back now, but made a promise to himself to taste you, all of you.
"You want more?" He asked you, a bit surprised that you'd reached for his belt.
"I want all of you," You whispered.
Your words hit his ears with genuine desire, making him clench his jaw. The vision of you beneath him, his cock penetrating the walls of your pussy- it made him shudder.
"Go on then, sweetheart. Take it."
You freed his cock, shifting upwards, your chest against his jaw as he guided his cock to your pussy, sliding back against your clit to find the tight walls inside you.
You lowered yourself, choking back a loud moan, your heart battering your rib cage.
"Can y'take it all?" He asked, his voice strained.
You forced yourself down, effectively stretching your walls as he opened you up. You settled on his thighs, his cock buried so deep inside you it felt like he was shifting your organs to make room.
He let out a satisfied groan, praising your efforts with a grin.
"There it is," He grumbled.
Your groans made his cock twitch inside you, and as he inadvertently tugged you forward you grunted.
"You're big," You whispered, your forehead falling against the hard material of his mask. "S-so big."
"You're too fuckin' tight," He said. "Fuckin' hell, sweetheart."
You lifted yourself, perching forward ever-so slightly just to bring yourself back down on his cock.
Once you were comfortable, you set a slow pace, one that allowed you to feel just how deep he could go, how good he felt as he massaged your walls.
"Just like that," He uttered, his eyes falling to your chest, watching your breasts recoil with every bounce.
Your eyes shut, burying your face against the side of his, your hands wrapping around his shoulders as you held him close.
"No," He said, his hand reaching your throat with a firm hold.
He pushed you back. "Wanna see how you look ridin' me."
You shivered again, your pussy squeezing around him, making his lips part with a groan. His hand offered a gentle squeeze, moving up to hold your jaw while you lifted yourself up and back down on his cock, before grinding back and forth.
"Oh my God," You drawled, your eyes shutting as you devoured the friction of his trousers against your clit, the head of his cock dragging through your walls.
His other hand slid down to your ass, taking a handful and forcefully pushing you over his lap to grind against him.
"Bloody hell," He grunted. "Been waitin' for you," He said again, in the midst of a lust-induced haze. "For a long fuckin' time."
"I'm yours," You replied, sweet whimpers hitting his ears. "All yours."
"Christ, sweetheart. Keep talkin' like that- g'na make me cum."
His words drew your orgasm from you, built up from the friction and irresistible feeling of his cock filling you- you collapsed against him with a faint cry, your hips still as your pussy fluttered, contractions shooting through your pussy and lower back.
"Fuck," He cursed. "Better move."
You whimpered as you lifted off his cock, watching as he ran his hand up and down it.
Your hand reached out to replace his, a firm fist squeezing his cock- his warm cum landed over the expanse of your stomach, dripping down over your pubis.
Your head fell back, taking in deep breaths, still reeling from your high as he tucked himself back in his trousers.
His hands reached out to grab your waist with a firm hold, heavy breaths fanning over your sticky skin.
"I meant it," You said, your hands sliding over his shoulders. "Thank you."
"Couldn't leave you behind."
"I know," You nodded.
"You're too important t'leave behind."
A small smile grew over your face.
"I think I'm warm enough now," You said.
"I know," He said back. "Just want you here."
You fell forward, hanging onto him while his hands wrapped around your waist to hold you against him.

You weren’t sure how long you held Mabel before you got her to calm down. When she did finally settle down you led her to the edge of the bed and had her tell you what happened. She explained how when they got to the dock she saw a shifty looking guy, when she described him, you knew he was an enforcer for the man you worked for. He was not a good guy, whenever the boss wanted to teach someone a lesson or dispose of someone, he was the guy sent to get the job done. You’d never interacted with him, luckily, but you had seen the aftermath of his work.
Mabel went on to say how they basically tore the boat apart looking for the drugs but couldn’t find them anywhere. Charlie’s brother and the others were missing, no sign of them anywhere, which you knew was unusual, Tommy practically lived on that boat, he would never disappear without a word right after bringing in a haul. Then she got to the part where Charlie answered a call thinking it was Tommy, but it was the man she had seen on the dock.
Your breath caught in your throat. Your boss had the drugs back, only three packs but it was the three packs that had kept you alive. He most likely didn’t know you were still alive, but he had somehow found out the crew of the Finestkind wound up with some of his missing drugs and he wanted them back. He had them taken, probably because he thought they knew where the rest of the missing drugs were. He would stop at nothing to get his drugs back, he already had his main pickup crew killed, a random fishing crew wouldn’t even be a sacrifice to him, just an obstacle the way.
“He told me to leave,” Mabel whispered, sniffling as she continued to calm herself down. You furrowed your brow and looked at her. “The guy seemed to want me as well, but Charlie convinced him to let me go.”
You nodded, it seemed you owed Charlie again, first he saved your life, then he saved Mabel’s. He might not have even realized just how much he was saving her, he probably only thought of it as keeping her as far away from all this as possible. You almost admired him, it was annoying how good of a guy he was, Mabel deserved someone good like that. Now, because Charlie was such a good guy and saved your useless life he was in danger, all of them were in danger.
“That’s good,” you said softly. “That man you saw, he’s not a good guy.” You knew Mabel was familiar with this world, she probably had already guessed what you meant and what this guy did. You didn’t want to cause her anymore panic though, you didn’t want her to stress about just how much danger Charlie was in. After all, for all you knew, Charlie was dead with the rest of his crew. The second your boss realized Charlie and the others truly didn’t know where the rest of the drugs were there was nothing stopping him from putting a bullet in each of their heads.
“What are we going to do?” She asked, tears filling her eyes once again.
You instantly wrapped your arms around her, pulling her in for another hug. You went through idea after idea as you held her. You needed to fix it, not her, she needed to stay as far away from this mess as possible. You needed to fix it, you needed to try and save Charlie and the others. You didn’t want anyone else to die because of your mistakes, you caused the mess, and you were going to be the only one to clean it up.
After a few hours of comforting Mabel and trying to talk her out of doing something stupid she was finally asleep. With the way she had her windows covered you had no idea what time it was, but you knew it was late, Charlie and the others had been gone all day, Mabel hadn’t heard anything from anyone. You looked down at the sleeping girl, you knew it was just because she was upset but she had passed out next to you on the bed and was now cuddled up against you. This was the first time she had slept in her bed since you had been brought over, you tried to move to the couch a few times insisting your wound would be fine, but Mabel wouldn’t have it.
You enjoyed the moment of feeling the warmth of her against you. You smiled down at her, she looked so peaceful, a part of you felt guilty for what you were going to do because you knew she’d be pissed when she found out, if she knew, she’d do everything in her power to stop you. She would try every way imaginable to save your life, to save the life of a stranger, someone she hadn’t even known a week. You couldn’t let her do that, it’d been a long time since someone cared about you, but you couldn’t let her risk her own life for yours. You brushed the strands of hair out of her face before you gently lifted her off the side of your body and slid out from under her as quietly as possible. You slipped a pillow into her arms, waiting and watching as she curled her arms around the pillow and buried her face into it.
You crept to the door, moving effortlessly around the furniture. When opening the door you gave her one last look before slipping out. She would be mad at you, but it was worth it if it meant saving her, besides, if things did go wrong, it’s not like she’d remember you. You would become just a faded memory, a story she told when joking around at the bar as she laughed with friends, reminded about the person who was practically dropped off on her doorstep, someone she helped save until they disappeared in the middle of the night.
You closed the door as gently as possible then slipped out into the night. You turned down the street and began making your way to your apartment. You were going to go after Charlie and the others, you were going to clean up your mess, but you had to do something else first.
A few hours later you began making your way to an old warehouse in an abandoned part of town. You fiddled with your trident necklace as you got closer to the building. It was rundown, the windows caked in dirt, it looked like every other abandoned building in the area, not a soul in sight. You knew what secrets actually lay behind the rusted doors and crumbling walls. Before you got to the large, rusted metal doors you tucked your necklace into your shirt, as much as you would like his help you weren’t sure how much he cared when it came to drug dealers.
You brought your hand up, knocking on the door, the sound echoing throughout the seemingly empty warehouse. The grinding sound of the slot in the door sliding out of the way pierced your ears. You saw the eyes of the guard on the other side appear through the slot; you didn’t have to say anything as his eyes widened with recognition. He quickly slid the slot back into place. You bounced on your feet, looking around as the area remained silent. Finally, the grinding and groaning of the metal door scraping against the concrete filled your ears as the man opened the door. Before you could even step forward an arm reached out pulling you into the dark warehouse before quickly shoving a sack over your head. You groaned as the man aggressively grabbed your injured arm before gripping your other so he could wrap your wrists together with some rope.
You stumbled through the warehouse as the man would occasionally shove your shoulder to get you to keep moving. You had been through this before, they were very secret when bringing people inside, even if you had been there over a hundred times by now. You knew where the warehouse was, you knew where deliveries were made, you even saw the room where they unpacked the product, you’d also been in your boss’s office, but you were sure there were rooms you had never seen, rooms you didn’t want to see. You wondered which room you were going to be taken to, you were doubtful it would be a simple office visit.
You came to a stop as you heard someone unlatch the door, the metal scraping together before it was grinding against the concrete floor. The man leading you around shoved you, sending you stumbling into the room. The door was quickly closed, and you were left you didn’t know where. You swallowed nervously as you strained your ears, trying to pick up if anyone else was in the room or how many of them there were.
The bag was quickly ripped off your head, making you blink your eyes rapidly as they adjusted to dim lighting. You looked around, the walls were all solid stone, not a single window in sight. Various parts of the walls and ground were splattered with a dark brown color. You looked down, noticing the drain and the stains that were leftover in the concrete, completely imbedded now that no amount of scrubbing would ever get them to come out. You flexed your hands, your wrist straining against the rope as it dug further into your skin, before intertwining your fingers to help hide the shaking.
You looked up, your breath catching in your throat as you saw your boss standing before you. He was in his usual black suit and tie, a suit that probably cost more than you ever made on a job for him. His hair was slicked back, not a strand out of place, if he was walking down the street, he would look like a rich businessman, no one would ever peg him as wealthy drug dealer and one of the most ruthless leaders of a powerful gang. He hadn’t bothered to look at you yet, he was to busy wiping off one of his knives with a cloth. You tilted your head trying to get a better look but couldn’t see any blood on the knife.
“I was told you were dead,” your boss finally spoke. He still didn’t bother looking at you, he just held his knife up to the light, turning it to make sure it was to his liking. If you didn’t know him you would think he wasn’t angry, his tone was so casual, but you did know him, his calm and cool persona was scarier than his angry one.
You opened your mouth, letting out a shaky breath, you were ready to defend yourself, though you didn’t know what you wanted to say. The grinding of the door opening again made you jump, your head instantly whipping around to meet whoever was about to enter. Two large men, strapped with guns led four people into the room, each of the people had their wrists tied like you and sacks over their heads. The men led the prisoners to the far wall, cuffing two of them to a metal pipe that ran up the wall near the back of the room, then the other two to another pipe running up the wall closer to where you stood.
The men ripped off the bags on the prisoners, revealing Charlie, Tommy, Costa, and Nunes. You couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief at seeing them alive. Tommy had a blackeye, Charlie a busted lip and dried blood under his nose and down his shirt. Those two had clearly been mouthing off, luckily the other two looked relatively fine, besides the whole being kidnapped and held prisoner thing. Charlie’s eyes widened when they met yours, you had to look away, silently hoping he wouldn’t do something to screw this up. There was still a chance, a small chance, but a chance nonetheless that you could get them all out alive.
You watched as one of the men who brought the boys in left the room, closing the door. The other man stayed in the room, moving to stand at the door, his arms crossed as his eyes watched you and the prisoners. Your boss finally turned around, looking you up and down as he waved the knife around in his hand. Maybe you wouldn’t get to plead your case, beg for the lives of the others, maybe he’d just kill you quickly before you ever got to say a word.
“I want my shipment back,” your boss said simply. “These boys,” he pointed the knife at the guys, “were found with some of my property.” His eyes moved back to you as he took a step closer. “They’ve been refusing to tell me where the rest of it is.” He let out a humorless chuckle, his eyes were practically black, you couldn’t look away even if had wanted to. “I’m hoping you’ve come to cooperate.”
“Yes,” you rasped out. You licked your lips; you didn’t realize your mouth had gotten so dry.
“Fantastic,” he smiled, holding his arms out wide.
“As long as you let them go.”
He tilted his head, his eyes somehow becoming darker. “That’s not how this works,” his tone was still casual but there was a lingering sense of danger behind his words.
“They don’t know anything.”
“Is that so?” he tilted his head, but it was clear he didn’t believe you.
“Yes.” You tried to keep your voice steady, but it wasn’t working out well. “The only reason they had your product is because they found me in the ocean and saved my life.” He hummed, clearly interested but still not willingly to believe you. “They don’t know anything. They aren’t involved.”
“What were you doing in the ocean?” he narrowed his eyes. “Your captain, may he rest in peace,” he looked up as if he actually cared and wasn’t the one to kill him. “Said there was an accident, your life tragically lost, along with my merchandise.” You heard the shift in his tone when he said merchandise, he cared much more about losing his product then about your life, but you already knew that. “And yet, here you stand.”
“My captain shot me.” He raised his eyebrows at that, clearly your captain had neglected to divulge the full truth to him, that also explained why you weren’t shot on site, if he knew you dropped his drugs in the ocean you wouldn’t have even made it to the front door.
“Why would he go and do something like that?”
You swallowed, ignoring the way tears began to fill your eyes. Your next words would solidify your death, maybe you should have said goodbye to Mabel, left a note or something. “Because I cut the line.” You were almost impressed with yourself; your voice didn’t waver at all that time.
Everything was silent, you didn’t see the shift in your boss, you only felt his fist meet your ribs, making you double over, before he gripped you by the hair to hold you in place as he brought his knee to your face. You stumbled back, coughing as the blood poured out of your nose, spitting what you could on the floor. He didn’t use his knife, you wondered why. You heard a struggle to your side, glancing to see Charlie on his feet, straining against the cuffs keeping him bound to the pipe.
“You cost me a lot of money,” your boss said, gripping your injured shoulder tightly. “You got your entire crew killed.” He moved his hand to the back of your neck, keeping the tight grip so you were forced to look him in the eye. “Now, you’ve gone and dragged these boys into this,” he pointed his knife at the guys.
“I can make this right,” you said between gasps, spitting up more blood in the process.
“How?” he shouted, raising his voice for the first time. “How can you possibly make this right?” he tightened his grip on the back of your neck, pulling you closer as he brought the blade up with his other hand, pressing it against your neck.
“I-I-I can get your drugs back,” you gasped out, hissing as he pressed the knife down, just enough to draw blood. “I-I know where we were. I-I can show you the coordinates, ta-take you there my-myself.” He kept the knife to your neck, sliding it up as he began to trace your jaw with it. “Just let them walk.” You glanced at Charlie, seeing him shake his head, seeming to realize what you were doing.
“Why would I do that?” he whispered.
“They have nothing to do with this. They’re innocent.”
“I can’t be letting witnesses just walk about,” he shook his head.
“You owe them.”
“Excuse me?” he pressed the knife harder, drawing more blood from you.
“They saved my life, they are the reason I’m here, without them you wouldn’t have any chance of getting your drugs back,” you spoke rapidly. You knew you were grasping for straws, but you were just trying to get Charlie and the others out of there alive. “And if you don’t,” you tilted your head down to meet his gaze, ignoring the way the knife dug into your skin. “I won’t tell you shit, and you can kiss your merchandise goodbye.”
He stared at you unblinking for what felt like hours. You weren’t sure if he was going to take you up on your offer or just shove the knife in your throat and watch you bleed out. Suddenly he released his grip, letting you stumble back. He smirked, chuckling to himself as he pointed the knife at you.
“Release them,” he ordered, pointing the knife from the man guarding the door to the boys. The guard looked at the boss but didn’t move from his post. “Now!”
The guard was across the room in a few steps, quickly uncuffing each of the guys before leading them to the door. He gave three knocks before the door opened and the other man from before led them all out. Charlie looked back, trying to stay in the room before he was shoved out, the metal door slamming behind them. You released a breath, you might have guaranteed your death after you followed through on your end but at least Charlie was safe, at least Mabel would be safe.
“For someone so clever it sure was stupid for you to drop my drugs into the ocean,” your boss said, back to his casual voice as if you were doing everyday business with him.
“There was a storm,” you said. “If we didn’t drop it the whole boat would have gone down. I just… I didn’t want anyone to die.”
He nodded as if he understood. “And look where that got you.”
You looked down, nodding. You couldn’t help but agree with him, look where it got you. You dropped the drugs with the intent to save everyone but because of that you got shot, your crew was killed, innocent people were forced to be involved because they saved you, you turned their lives upside down, and almost got them all killed. If you had just stopped, if you had jut not tried to be a hero, if you had just listened to your captain, maybe everything would have been fine. Maybe the drugs would have tipped the boat, and they would have been lost anyway, there were life rafts so maybe you and the crew would have been fine, or maybe you all would have been lost as sea, that certainly would have been more deserved.
“Before we get started though,” he said, turning to face you again. Your heart dropped at the look in his eyes, already knowing what was coming before he finished his words. “You still need to pay for your betrayal.”
That was your only warning before his fist met your face. Before you even had time to recover, he dealt another punch. He grabbed you by the back of the shirt and tossed you against the wall. You caught yourself as best as you could with your still tied hands, only able to recover enough to lean back against the wall. He took off his suit jacket, tossing it to the side before rolling up the sleeves of his shirt. That was the last thing you remembered clearly seeing before he was hitting you again, you ended up on the ground at one point, coughing up blood as your vision got more and more blurry. With a final kick to your face everything went black.

Change (Abby Anderson x reader)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They had her, the love of your life, they had her and they were going to die for it.
Your actions weren't even conscious anymore, acting only on instinct, adrenaline-fuelled rage that drove you to the point of insanity. There was nothing in your way because anything that tried to stop you was slaughtered, infected dropping left right and centre until the horde that they had lured to you was laying in a pile behind you. Your clothes drenched in blood, slowly drying and staining your skin until a new layer covers it as the next wave flies at you.
People this time, but it made no difference to you. The only person your mind could register was her, so when the sharp edge of your axe dug into the poor man's neck that made the mistake of running at you, the squelching feeling only made you more exhilarated. You rip the axe out of his neck and the splatter of blood that paints you and the floor tastes as sweet as honey to you. Two men go down as your gun fires twice.
You keep walking, your pace never slowing, and as two more soldiers walk in front of you with their hands up a sick smile plasters itself onto your face as you dig the axe into one's abdomen as you shoot the other straight in the throat. Their time to surrender was over, they made their bed and now they can lay in it for all eternity.
The closer you get to her the stronger you feel as you leave a trail of bodies behind you, your path stained red. You swap from your handgun and axe to your assault rifle as you see a large swarm of soldiers running at you. When you had stumbled across the gun hiding from other passers by you felt like you had won the lottery and as the melody of screams fills your ears while you watch them drop to the ground like flies, you only felt luckier. You had never been violent, you were forced into training to be a soldier but now you understood how it feels, the bloodlust, you would never stop. Not when you've got her back, not ever, anyone that isn't her would die if they crossed your path from now. You would never lose her again and if your soul had to wither away for that to happen you would give it up in a second.
The thundering bangs of bullet after bullet leaving the chamber of your gun made you dizzy, faint almost, the power surging through you was enough to make you feel like you weren't human. A whole wave of soldiers down, just like that. Commotion sounds from behind you and without even glancing backwards you light a molotov that you had been saving for an occasion like this and chuck it behind you. There's that melody again, the harmony of shrieks and cries for help, the smell of burning flesh invades your nostrils and to you it smells like a freshly baked cake. They shouldn't have taken her but they learned their lesson too late.
You push forward further and further until you reach the building you knew they were keeping her in. She's yours and she'll be with you soon. "I'll be there soon baby." You mutter to yourself as you change the magazine of your gun to a fresh one before slamming it into the glass of the locked doors, another barrier between you and her demolished. You're barely through the shattered door when you hear the footsteps of countless soldiers running to their deaths. You imagine some of them being sure this would be the mission that set them apart, that made them a hero, and then you imagine their families being informed that the fucking idiot got themself killed because they underestimated you. You're a different person to who you were when you were a part of the WLF and Abby is too and they were too stupid to see that when they took her from you.
You both made the plan to run and you weren't prepared to give up the dream any time soon. You were leaving and she was leaving with you, even if you had to kill every member of the WLF and reduce their bases to rubble, so be it. They chose this. The thundering footsteps got closer as you took cover behind a wall and raised your gun, ready for the first wave. The continuous thud that accompanied the firing of your bullets was music to your ears and as the hallway goes quiet you advance further. A shriek fills your ears and your blood runs cold because even in a state of distress you'd recognise her voice anywhere. You're so close.
You follow the sound until you're outside the room you know she's being held in. You sling your gun over your shoulder and brandish your axe as if it's made bespoke for your hand. You slam the door open and before even looking at the love of your life you bring the axe down into Isaac's head, over and over again until he's unrecognisable. You stand from his lifeless form, breathing heavy and eyes crazed before they soften as you make eye contact with her. She's here, really here and you could feel her soft skin caressing yours as you undid her binds and gave her your handgun. "Ready babe?"
"Let's go." You raise your gun once again as the crashing of soldiers coming straight at you sends shockwaves through your body. The more blood you spilled in your escape, the more you wanted to stay to spill more but Abby's hand gently pulling you toward the gate that let you run to your fantasy rips you away from the carnage you had left in your trail.
You had wanted to leave to find peace but this feeling had a funny way of changing you.
If blood wasn't spilling, you would never be at peace. Abby watched you change right in front of her eyes, you became a blood-thirsty monster and all she wanted to do was help you get your fill. You left for peace and peace for you both ended up being bringing death and destruction to whatever crossed your path. Darkness overtook you both and you revelled in it.
Bloodlust had transformed you into angels of death, falling further from grace with every body that dropped before you.
erm idk i needed some female rage vibes rn and instead i came out with something minorly psychopathic, akneewayz

Chishiya Shuntarō x reader
Your last night in the Borderlands
Fluff / Angst
“Have you seen Chishiya?” I heard Kuina ask.
My eyes lit up as I slid in beside her, all of us crouched down and hiding behind cars.
“Shuntarō? You’ve seen him?” I asked as my eyes began to quickly look at my surroundings, “Where?”
“A couple blocks that way.” Arise admitted, but began to panick as I stood up, “What are you doing?”
“I’m going to go find him.” I stated, but before I could run off Usagi grabbed my arm.
“We need you here to help take down the King of Spades.” She spoke calmly.
“But…” I trailed off.
My eyes held worry for the man that has always been within arms reach since the start of the games. I couldn’t help the knowing anxiety that has flooded my chest since we got separated by the very King of Spades who means to end my life now.
I shook my head, “Chishi could be hurt. I’m not going to lose him to this stupid game-” I stated as began to move.
“He’s fine!” Arisu assured me, his voice sharp and panicked, “He’s safer where he is than here with us.”
I felt torn as too much turmoil struggled inside me.
“We need you.” An said seriously.
After a moment of heavy debate, I relented my mission with a sigh. I knelt to the ground, keeping a look out for any chance of the King of Spades seeing us.
“If you say he’s alright Arisu then… What do I need to do?” I asked.
“We need to draw him away from the other players.” An suggested.
“Alright.” I nodded, “Fine, but as soon as we beat this guy, I’m going to go find Shuntarō.”
“Ah, to be young and in love.” Kuina teased.
I gave her a look, “You’re younger than me?”
“Only by two months.” She muttered.
I raised my eyes before returning my attention back to our friend, “Let’s do this.”
I couldn’t feel the concrete underneath my body as I coughed up dirt and blood. My mind felt fuzzy and my breath labored as I listened to the King of Spades chase after Arisu.
I hope he will be alright.
I knew I needed to get a hold of myself and fast. I was loosing too much blood from the two bullet wounds I bore in my stomach. Not to mention the few cracked ribs I received from the ruthless beating. At least I was able to break a few of his fingers… I humored myself with the thought.
I wiggled my own fingers to see if I would be able to get up and felt relieve in the small movement.
I grunted in pain as I slowly sat up. I lifted my arms to take off my torn shirt and use it as a gauge to wrap around my stomach. Once I felt it was secured enough, I grabbed on to a railing beside me and heaved myself up with a frustrated cry.
The sound of my name stopped me from taking anymore steps out of this cursed alleyway.
“Kuina… An.” I breathed out, “Are you alright?”
“Could be better.” An hummed.
“I agree, this hurts like a bitch.” Kuina grunted in pain the moment she laughed.
Worry flashed over my face at the two, “What can I do?”
An shook her head, “There is nothing you can do.”
The sound of the blimp exploding shoved us signaled that Arisu had won and the King of Spades was no more.
An continued, “Only Arisu can save us now. Soon this hell will be over…”
“I need to…” My face trailed off as I gripped the railing, a new found urge to get to Chishiya taking over my heart.
“I know.” Kuina smiled, “Say hi to him for me.”
I nodded with a small smile before beginning my journey in the direction Arisu had pointed towards earlier. I could only hope that he was still somewhere over there… I wasn’t exactly sure on how much time I had left.
It was night by the time I reached a large opening filled with multiple abandoned cars. The blood from my wound was beginning to seep through my shirt from the exertion. I was worried that it wasn’t a clean shot through and that the bullet could still my inside. It sure felt like it was.
“Shunta?” I called out his name again, it coming out as a cry as I struggled to keep myself standing.
I was beginning to lose faith from the thought of never see him again. Never hear his condescending gravely voice or his beautiful patronizing eyes. Would never be able to see his intelligent mind work or the way he would look like a cute chipmunk when he ate. Or feel his lips against mine that he poured every ounce of feelings and love he had for me.
“Please…” I tried to wipe the tears from my eyes to no avail.
I was beginning to lose hope… Until…
“Over here.” He said and it was then that I saw his outline.
He was on the ground, leaning against a car and it was when I stumbled closer that I could make out dark patches in his jacket. He held his side protectively, but his face looked as calm as a clear sky.
“Oh Chishi.” I cried out, stumbling to the ground beside him.
My hands shook over his wounds, unable to do anything as I gazed teary eyed at him, “What happened?”
“Niragi.” He lightly shrugged, “My conscience decided to get the best of me today I suppose.” He gestured to my lack of clothing, “Though I didn’t realize you’d have your shirt off.”
I shook my head with a short laugh, wincing at the pain as I fell into him, careful not to touch his side. My head fell onto his uninjured shoulder as I allowed myself to cry.
“I thought I’d never see you again.” I spoke as well, “I wish I would’ve jumped out of that car that day.”
“You would have been killed, easily.” Chishiya spoke simply.
I scoffed at the blunt honesty, immediately regretted it afterwards as I held onto my side.
Chishiya ignored me. “I need to check your wound.”
“My fate is up to Arisu and winning against the Queen of Hearts.” I stated, “What happened to Niragi then? Did he…”
“Still hear.” I heard his voice a little bit away.
“If I was able to get up right now, I would-”
“You’d kill me. I know.” Niragi’s voice was sarcastic and I swear I could see his eyes roll.
Chishiya brought my attention back to him, “I need to remove your shirt.”
“This isn’t the time for that.” I tried to joke, but I could see the glare in his eyes, “It’s nothing, really.”
“Don’t tell me it’s nothing, I can tell it’s a bullet wound from the blood seeping through your poorly wrapped excuse of a bandage.” Chishiya sat up a bit with a grunt, “At least you made it this without dying. Means that the bullet didn’t hit anything vital.”
“Such kind words for a dying person.” I rolled my eyes.
Chishiya only raised his eyebrow, “Do you want to know if the bullet is still lodged in there or do you want to die?”
After a pause he did something I never thought he would do…
“Please.” Chishiya pleaded, something very unlike him.
I saw the worry held in his eyes a relented with a soft nod, “Okay.” I turned away, my face hearing up as his fingers gently grazed my skin.
He gently untied my shirt and peered closely to see an exit wound, “You’ll live.”
“Thanks doctor.” I muttered.
I could hear him grunt as he tore a piece of his shirt off and properly bandaged my wound.
“I’m… Glad that you didn’t… That I got to see you one last time.” He spoke softly.
Tears filled my eyes, “Me too Chishi…”
I leaned back against him, taking in the cool night air.
“Do you think he’ll do it?” I wondered.
“It’s Arisu.” Chishiya stated plainly.
I pressed my face into the crook of his neck, “I don’t mind dying like this…”
Chishiya didn’t say a word opting to secure his arm around my side. Minutes seemed to turn into an hour. My eyelids felt heavy as I began to doze off.
A gentle nudge prompted me awake, “Seems like he had it in him.” Chishiya said as a voice echoed above us.
“Choose to remain here as a citizen or leave the game.”
“What will it be?” Chishiya asked as if the answer of our fates belonged to me.
I already knew my answer, I just hope that we would still be together regardless of the outcome.
“I… I would like to leave.” I admitted.
“Then it would seem that I would like to leave as well.” Chishiya gave his final answer.
My grip tightened around his jacket and I couldn’t stop the overwhelming flow of tears, sorrow, and relief.
His hand brushed gently over my side, “Why are you crying?”
“I don’t…” I sobbed, “What if we forget about this place? I don’t want to forget you. Please tell me we won’t forget each other.” My words were grasping on pleading as I clutched onto him.
“I can’t tell you that.” Chishiya answered truthfully causing my heart to break.
I buried my face further into his neck and cried.
“I can tell you this.” He said and my ears picked up on the sound of his calm voice, “Nothing will keep me from finding you.”
“Promise?” I asked, my voice cracking.
“On Niragi’s life.” Chishiya chuckled, earning a scoff from afar.
Seemed Niragi was still alive as he spoke his wish of wanting to leave.
“Chishi…” I whined.
“I promise.” He stated truthfully.
I say up so I could look him in the eyes as I said, “Then all I ask of you until then is to dream of me.”
He nodded as our foreheads touched. His lips softly brushed against mine before my eyelids began to grow heavy once more.
“See you soon my heart.” Chishiya whispered.
Tumblr media
Chishiya opened his eyes being faced with a bright light. Everything felt soar and numb all the same. He released a sigh before looking around the hospital room. His roommate for the next couple weeks had been sleeping and so he rang for a nurse to fill him in on his condition.
It wasn’t too long before he heard rustling beside him. Chishiya glanced over to his roommate without the faintest recognization.
“Why are you staring? Do you want something from me?” The stranger asked.
“Apparently, your heart stopped too.” Chishiya stated.
He stared up at the ceiling as he asked, “How the hell do you know that?”
“It seemed to have happened to me as well.” Chishiya answered.
He chuckled, “What a fucking coincidence.” The burned man glanced at his roommate, “I’m Niragi.” He introduced himself.
“Chishiya.” He returned.
It was silent for a minute before Chishiya spoke again.
“Since… you almost died Niragi.” Chishiya tilted his head towards him, “Do you feel like something has changed to you?”
“I’m not entirely sure… I guess I looked a lot flashier before the incident.” Niragi mused, “How about you? Do you feel different?”
“I have wasted my life until this moment. From now on I think I will live a more useful life.” Chishiya hummed.
Niragi took a breath, “You were a good for nothing jerk too then, huh?”
Chishiya stared at the wall ahead of him, “Yeah.”
“You also mutter in your sleep.” Niragi continued, “I couldn’t make out anything except the word, promise.”
“It’s strange, I don’t remember what the dream was about.” Chishiya answered his brows furrowed slightly, “But it felt important.”

Survival | Tim Bradford | The Rookie
Tumblr media
Tim watched, helplessly, as the door closed behind (Y/N). He wanted to follow her, but he knew that any imput form him would be useless at best and detrimental at worse.
It was meant to have been an easy day, he could laugh at that thought now. He had grown comfortable, to comfortable. But he had planned for him and (Y/N) take a long weekend off. He had it all planned out, movies rented and cupboards stocked with more food they they could bost possibly eat.
It had been a long couple of months, both he and (Y/N) swamped with case after case at work. So when the last day came before their time off, Tim's head wasn't in the game. He should have been more focussed, if he had, then he wouldn't be here, sitting in a hospital waiting room, drecnhed in his finacee's blood.
It was his fault.
It was all his fault, he would never forgive himself.
It was nearing end of shift when it happened, he took what sounded like an easy call. If he had paid better attention, he would have known how much of a shit-show he was driving into.
(Y/N) had shot him an odd look when he said that they were responding alone. He had said that they didn't need back-up, it was a simple domestic call.
That's another thing he felt like laughing at. He though it was simple. Simple! If the guilt wasn't sitting so heavily in his chest, he might have actually been able to must some sort of reaction to the thought.
But he felt numb. He knew that he had to trust the doctor's to save her. They had brought him back from the brink of death numerous amounts of times, but it wasn't his life at stake here, it was hers. And if she didn't make it, Tim didn't know how he could forgive himself.
The bullet had scraped her neck, breaking the vein. The couple they had been sent to wasn't just having an arguement. The wife had her partner at gunpoint.
Thankfully, the husband wasn't harmed, (Y/N) had made sure of that. She took the bullet meant for him. She had made a split second descision to put her life in front of his. It was her job to do that, Tim knew all too well. But he knew that it was his job as her fiance to put her above all else and he had failed; he failed her.
The rest of it was a blur to him. He knew from the blood on his hands that he had to have tried to stop her bleeding. He could vaguley picture the ambulance that had come to get her and (Y/N)'s attacker running away before she could be arrested.
Everything else was a mystery. All he knew now was that he was in front of doors forbidding the general public to enter.
"Officer," A voice said from behind him. Quickly, he broke from his thoughts. He turned, looking at the nurse before him, nodding to prompt her to continue. "I don't think she will be out for a while, do you know her next of kin?"
"It's me." His voice was shaky and quiet as his spoke. He just about clocked on that the nurse didn't hear him. He cleared his throat, speaking clearly this time. "It's me, I'm her next of kin."
As he spoke, he felt his thoughts clarify for the first time since he saw (Y/N)'s body crumple to the ground. He was useless here but he knew what he had to do.
Ignoring the nurse as she began to speak again, Tim turn on his heels and left the hospital. (Y/N)'s survival was no longer something he could control, the only thing he could do was to catch the bitch who shot her.
That and pray that she would come back to him.

Word count: 5.9k
———————————————————————
Tumblr media
“How did you find me?” Neteyam asks, his eyes strained forward. He didn’t bother turning to face her as she set herself down. Her feet mirrored his as she dangled them over the edge of the cliff.
Neteyam knew it was her, he didn’t have to look to confirm who it was. He knew the moment she softly landed her Ikran, the coo of the creature he knew by heart because that always signaled her arrival. Her scent wafted through the light breeze as the air caused his body to freeze up. It was a scent he memorized. Because it smelt like her, because it was her.
“Call it intuition?” She chuckles softly, the breeze picking up in the slightest. Her braided locks clacking against one another, the sound of the beads crashing caused Neteyam to quickly glance her way.
Y/n peered up into the sky, the stars mirrored amongst her e/c irises beautifully. Neteyam stopped himself from getting lost in them, which he caught himself doing often. It was weird considering she was his dearest friend, his oldest friend. He just couldn't help the fluttery feeling that consumed him whenever she was near. He didn't know when it started, but as he grew, so did his feelings.
Neteyam and Y/n grew up joined at the hip, even though she was younger by one year the girl never hesitated to follow Neteyam to his duties. Always marveling at how he slowly but surely became such a great warrior, outranking all in his age group. Neteyam also adored her, he respected how she tried to become a warrior herself. Even though she fell short many times, it never deterred her from her goal. That same goofy smile plastered on her face even when her body was littered with bruises.
Neteyam thought of her as a distraction at one point, but as they both grew up he realized how much he needed her support. Someone to talk to, someone to pour all his raw emotion on. And Y/n was always eager, her shoulders waiting for him to lean on as the days of stress pulled him down. It was as if she always knew how and what he was feeling.
“What did he do this time?” Y/n whispers softly.
Neteyam’s ears twitch to the sound of her voice, laced with concern and question. Neteyam had once again been on the receiving end of his fathers words. He was tasked to help Lo’ak with his tracking skills, but that skxawng decided to run mid session, almost getting eaten by a threatened mother Pululukan. Neteyam had barely made it in time to save Lo’ak as well as himself. The array of leaves covered in ointment scattered all over his body proved that it was indeed a close call.
“He almost got eaten by a mother Pululukan” he replies solemnly.
He catches the way Y/n’s eyes scrunch together at the mental image. Her brows furrowing together, her lips forming into a frown.
“Let me guess, you took the blame?” Y/n asks, more like declares.
She knew Neteyam like the back of her hand. Of course he took the blame from his brother, always has and always will. It’s just that each time he did, he never could recover the pieces that Jake tore apart upon each lecture. That’s where Y/n came in, always ready to piece him back together.
“You shouldn’t protect him all the time. He’s 15 Neteyam, he has to realize the stunts he pulls have consequences” Y/n says, her body turning to face him. Neteyam averts his eyes, not wanting her to catch his gaze that was already lingering on her.
“It’s my job, I’m the eldest son. If I don’t watch over my siblings, who will?” Neteyam replies back, refusing to look her in the eyes. Y/n sighs out in defeat. She knew how much Nteeyam loved and cared for his siblings, she felt the same way being the only child. That's why she stuck to the family like glue. As if they were a second family.
“Then who will have your back?” She asks, her voice laced with concern. Neteyam finds his lips twitching at her words. She never failed to surprise him with her caring nature. It was astonishing to the young warrior that someone like her, who was so kind and nurturing, was also a warrior. Someone that equaled his skills at times.
He turns around to face her, locking eyes. He felt his breath hitch at their close proximity, how her eyes shone under the moonlight with such allure. He felt like he was being sucked in, and he didn’t feel it within himself to deny the feeling.
“I was hoping you would”  a smile twitches along his lips.
Y/n let’s out a giggle, her eyes filling with a twinkle which left Neteyam starstruck. Oh how beautiful she looked under the moonlight, it had to be a sin.
“I thought that was a given” she teases, playfully nudging her shoulder against his. The feeling sent a jolt of electricity through his body, causing a pleasurable shiver to run along his spine. It was moments like these that made him feel alive, that made him feel sane. So much stress has been put upon him since birth, all washing away with a mere smile.
“Just making sure” Neteyam easily replies back, opting to lean against her shoulder. Something they did often when they sought each other for comfort. Y/n hums happily, leaning her weight against his. She rests her head against him, breathing in the night sky.
“You are obligated to take care of your siblings Neteyam. That I respect. Just….take care of yourself too, ok?” Y/n suggests softly. Neteyam lets out a sigh, nodding his head, agreeing with her words. Seeming satisfied by his non verbal response Y/n smiles wide.
“And I’ll always be here for you Neteyam. I’ll never leave your side. You are my best friend after all” she teases her eyes locking onto the moon, oh how majestic it looked.
Neteyam thickly swallows the lump in his throat. At that moment the feeling of serenity left him. He enjoyed his moments with Y/n. Over the years it seems as though these particular moments held all his happiness. It felt great when he was naïve to his feelings.
At first he was confused as to what the quicken heartbeats meant when he would stare into her eyes. He questioned the butterflies in his stomach, and an unfamiliar fluttery feeling whenever she gazed at him.
It took him a while, but once he realized what he was feeling, it was already too late. The feeling had grown without his knowledge. What was once a simple crush grew to infatuation. He felt cursed, cursed to loving his friend who didn’t love him the same way. The unconditional love that seemed to grow year by year.
~~~~~~
“Shhh, don’t speak!” Kiri shushs, crouching down near the tent. The close call with the RDA left quite an impact with the Sully children and Y/n. After Y/n had decided to accompany Lo’ak and Spider on their adventure, all so she could keep a watchful eye on Tuk. They got caught by the RDA. Y/n desperately held Tuk within her grasp all while her tswin was harshly being held against her.
The moment Neteyam heard Y/n’s name over the com an unexplainable dread came over his form. They had his siblings, they had Y/n. What if he was late? What if he couldn’t save her in time? As he quickly showed his parents the quicker way he was determined to find her. He was determined to ensure her safety.
Neteyam didn’t have to think twice about going against his fathers orders and got involved right away. Because he knew, if it were the other way around, Y/n wouldn’t hesitate to disobey orders from her leader to save his siblings, himself included.
The relief that flooded Neteyam’s system was like waves after waves as he realized everyone was safe and unscathed. He pulled Y/n tightly against him, relishing in her heat as she shook under his hold. Sobs racking her body in full force. She was terrified by what had transpired and Neteyam felt useless being unable to console her.
As the siblings and Y/n eavesdrop on the parents' conversations, Neteyam keeps a firm grasp of Y/n’s hand. Ever since the incident Y/n has been desperately latching into him. Her fear is getting the best of her. Neteyam felt horrible for what she went through, but loved the feeling of her needing him, wanting to hold him.
“He had our children. He had them under his knife!” Jake hisses.
Y/n audibly gulps. Was he actually suggesting they leave? Flee the clan? Y/n felt her heart drop to her stomach with a sickening feeling. They would leave her, her second family would leave her here alone for their own safety. And Y/n couldn’t do anything about it. She wanted them safe more than anything, but the fear of them leaving caused her to choke up with unbridled sadness.
Feeling her eyes sting with tears Y/n pushes herself into Neteyam’s embrace. He was shocked at first but welcomed it. Would this be the last time he held her? Feel her pressed up against him like this? He would wake up every day not seeing her face? Neteyam’s throat closes up at the thought, letting Y/n nuzzle into the crevice of his neck. He wraps one hand around her for support as he bites lips furiously. He couldn’t cry, as much as he wanted to. He is a warrior after all. He had to stay strong.
“What about Y/n? She was protecting Tuk, they know she is close to the family. They will hunt her down Ma’Jake” Neytiri cries in fear.
Both Neteyam and Y/n freeze up at her words. Lo’ak and Kiri glance at the duo, horror stricken as well. It was true, Y/n tried her best to cover Tuk during the entire altercation. They didn’t bother inspecting her hands while they were focused on Lo’ak and Kiri. But her involvement meant they knew her. And where to find her.
 “I’ll speak to her parents. It’s not safe for her here” Jake says, causing Y/n to gasp in shock. She covers her mouth before looking at each Sully. Confirming what she heard was true. He was suggesting she go with them.
Feeling an overwhelming amount of emotion Y/n abruptly stands up, before sprinting towards her tent. Neteyam moves to follow her but Kiri stops him midstep. Her expression of worry for her friend.
“Give her some space, brother”
~~~~~~~~~
“How did you find me?” Y/n asks softly, her back facing Neteyam as he took tentative steps towards her. He purposely made sure his steps were heard, he didn’t want to startle her after all they’ve been through the past few days. If he wanted to go unnoticed, he would have succeeded. He was very silent with his footing.
“Call is intuition?” Neteyam lightly teases, taking a seat beside her. His shoulders slide against her, feeling her body cold against him. Neteyam flinches upon contact. How long had she been out here?
“Eywa Y/n, you’re freezing. How long have you been out here?” He questions his eyes trained in her. She turns her head to face him, her puffy cheeks covered with the stains of her tears she had shed a while ago. She sighs out, shrugging her shoulders in response. Neteyam frowns, he felt sick to his stomach seeing her like this.
The past two days have been utter hell for him. After Jake declared the decision to the family he went on about how Tarsem would be the next Olo'eyktan. Not to mention when Jake left to relay the news to Y/n’s  parents. They were upset at first but stressed for her future, they agreed that for her future she needed to flee. For her own safety. Y/n’s parents reluctantly agreed to the request, she would be unsafe the longer she stayed within the village. Ever since that, Y/n had been actively avoiding the Sully’s, Neteyam included.
Neteyam lost his birthright, and best friend all in one day.
He's been through a rollercoaster of emotion's and sadness the past few days, but he was able to come to terms with it. His family came first, if he were to lose his title for that, then so be it.
Neteyam also wanted to approach Y/n many times but respected his sister's wishes to give her space. By the fourth day he was fed up, he couldn’t stay away from her. He had to ensure she was ok, he also missed her terribly. Thus why he came all the way out here in search of her. He missed her terribly and couldn’t help but blame himself for everything that has happened.
“I’m sorry…” Neteyam whispers, his voice cracking under everything he felt. Y/n’s eyes snap to him, concerned glossing over irises in confusion.
“W-what? For?” She asks scooting closer to him. Neteyam clenched his hands into fists.
“For you getting involved….for forcing you to leave everything you’ve known, your family, your friends, for us..” he admits, head bowed down shamefully. Y/n lets out a shaky sigh, taking her small hands and using them to cup Neteyam’s cheeks. He allows her to lift his face up to meet her waiting eyes, all while still cupping his cheeks.
“Neteyam…..I was sad, the first day. But I’m at peace with it. I will not endanger our people, my family, just so I can stay here. I’m fine with coming along with your family. In fact, I’m grateful your family thought of me and my protection” Y/n says softly. Neteyam lets out the breath he was holding, his shoulders relaxing significantly. He felt a huge weight being lifted off his shoulders. He couldn’t explain how happy he was to hear this. She was ok with coming with him, she was at peace with it. How could he not feel happy?
“Then….why have you been avoiding us?….have I done something to upset you? Has someone else done something?” Neteyam asks, he tries to play it off as a regular question but it came out as a plea. His need for her seeping through his words. Y/n thickly swallows, as if his question caused her to choke up again. Neteyam sits up straighter, placing his hands over hers. Y/n clears her throat before taking a deep breath.
“I-it’s you…”  she says, causing Neteyam to go slightly stiff.
“All your life you’ve been training to become an Olo'eyktan. You’ve worked so hard, proved yourself and gained so much respect amongst the people. I know, because I was always there to watch you from afar. Admiring your strength and vigor-“ Neteyam felt a sad smile twitch along his lips. She’s always been there, always watching him grow. Always seeing him.
“-once I heard Tarsem being announced as the next leader, it was as if a part of me shattered…..here I am, watching helplessly as my best friends dream slips through his fingers….all because I couldn’t try hard enough to keep Lo’ak from venturing out” Y/n croaks, tears streaming down her face.
Neteyam is quick to wipe the fresh tears away from her cold skin. The past few days Y/n had been beating herself over the fact that she may be the reason Neteyam had lost his birthright. What he dreamt of every day. In a way, his dream became apart of her dream as well, as she watched him grow.
Neteyam pulls her in for a hug, his heart soaring but his heart crumbling. “It’s not your fault. Please don’t blame yourself Syulang. Please” Neteyam begs, feeling Y/n shake that much harder under his hold, unable to hold back her cries of pain. After a while Y/n settles down, slightly pulling back to wipe her eyes.
“Neteyam, I-“
“Don’t you dare apologize” he interrupts her, swiping the streaks of tears along her cheeks. His gaze stern. Y/n seems to frown at his word but understands he didn’t want to speak of the matter any longer.
Tumblr media
“I was sad,” Neteyam says, causing her ears to twitch with attention.
“I was sad that I’ve lost my goal, that I have to leave everything I’ve known growing up. I lost my title that I worked so hard for, but I can prove myself again. I know it. This isn't the end Y/n, but a new beginning…also a part of me is happy knowing I have my family to rely on….happy that I’ll have you” he admits, words that felt like stones to his heart because he knew Y/n wouldn’t interpret his words for what he actually wanted to say.
‘I love you, I need you with me’
“Oh Neteyam. I’ll follow you to the ends of Pandora. I’ll always be by your side.” She croaks, pulling him in for a tight embrace. Neteyam presses his head against her temple, inhaling her scent. A scent that always gave him comfort.
“I know, I’ll always be there for you Y/n. Always''
~~~~~~~~~
“Watch his head!!!” Lo’ak hisses, struggling to pick Neteyam up on the rocks. Tsireya steadies his legs, Y/n and Spider holding his side as they haul him over as gently as possible. Y/n winces at the sharp pain on her arm, her tears staining her cheeks. She helps set Neteyam down as he looks up at her, concern lacing his painful expression.
“Y-y/n” He whimpers out, seeing the distant look in her eye. That of fear.
After Neteyam and Lo’ak decided to find  Spider deeper in the ship, they didn’t notice how Y/n snuck in after them. She stayed quiet making sure to stay a few feet behind them, her knife in the ready to assist them if needed.
A lot has happened over the past few months, the quick adaptation to the sea, the Metkayina clan not accepting them and dealing with the RDA once again was like hit after hit. Y/n had failed to keep Kiri safe when the Ikran snatched her away; she refused to allow Neteyam and Lo’ak to get hurt under her watch.
Her attention snaps back to Neteyam and Lo’ak jumping down taking on some of the human soldiers. Y/n doesn’t even hesitate jumping down to assist them while Neteyam and Lo’ak stare at her in shock. Seeing a soldier get up she grabs the gun off the floor, shooting the man shakily.
“Y/n! What are you doing here?” Neteyam demands, snatching the gun from her shaking hands. Y/n looks over at the three who stare at her in astonishment.
 “I can’t let you do this alone. Now let’s get out of here!!” Y/n encourages her ears twitch at the sound of rapid footsteps nearing them. As they run away from many soldiers, Y/n sends Lo’ak and Spider to jump into the water safely while Neteyam fires the gun to distract the soldiers shooting their way.
“Go! Go!” Neteyam hollers, his eyes focused on the soldiers who refuse to give up.
“Not without you!” Y/n demands, her eyes widening, seeing the soldier come closer for a clearer shot. “Shit!” Y/n shoves Neteyam pulling him with her. She glances over her shoulder seeing the avatar directly point the barrel of his gun towards Neteyam. Towards his chest. Using her adrenaline to her advantage she shoves Neteyam into the water, tumbling after him.
The moment she crashed into the sea she heard the happy screams of Lo’ak and Spider as she desperately looked for Neteyam. She noticed the crimson in the water before she caught sight of Neteyam, holding onto his arm in pain.
“I’ve been s-shot” he struggles out. The three words Y/n never wanted to hear.
As she helped Tsireya pull Neteyam into the Iiu she was shocked to see the blood in the water increase. All of a sudden she feels a sting on her side, glancing down she is able to see a flesh wound, where the bullet had grazed her as well. It seemed as though colliding her body against Neteyam caused the bullet to gaze at her arm as well as his.
Y/n snaps her attention back to Neteyam as he regulates his breathing. Luckily the bullet hasn't penetrated his arm, but the gash was deep enough to cause a lot of blood. Neteyam was about to pass out from the blood loss. Y/n shakily puts pressure on his wound, drowning out the sounds around her.
Tsireya audibly gasps seeing blood pour out of Y/n’s arms. The girl was in shock, therefore not registering how everyone was around her, as well as her own injury. Her attention solely focused on the wound  as she tried to stop the bleeding.
“Y/n!! Your arm!!” Lo’ak screams in hysterics, his father rushing towards them. Seeing Neteyam on the floor he clutches down, noting there was no wound on his chest, just his arm.
“Is there an exit wound?” He asks crouching down to his level. Neteyam groans back, glancing between his father and Y/n.
“N-no, it's just a graze….Y/n save m-me” Neteyam says through clenched teeth, pain cursing through the entirety of his arm. Jake looks at Y/n  with relief but it disappeared upon seeing her own gash.
“S-she’s hurt dad, p-please” Neteyam whispers, seeing how Y/n’s eyes were glazed onto him, as if she were in a trance, in her own world. She didn’t register her pain or when Jake had instructed Tsireya to hold onto her wound to stop the bleeding.
 “Y/n '' Neteyam calls again, causing her to break eye contact, resting on his face. Her initial shock wore off at the sound of his concerned tone.
“You’re hurt” Neteyam breathes out, feeling some relief flood into his system with her pressing tightly against the wound. Y/n shakes her head.
 “You Skxawng you almost died. Don’t worry about me” she assured shakily, sending a tear sticker Tsireya a small smile. Neteyam coughs, his feeble attempt to laugh at her tone. She sounded like a mother bird, always stressing over everyone including him.
“T-thank you. For saving me”
Y/n smiles at his words, her eyes glossing with warmth. She felt panic rise deep within her at the sight of so much blood. But seeing him alert and responding proved that he was ok. He was alive.
“I told you I’ll always be there for you. I’ve got your back”
~~~~~~~~~
5 years.
It’s been five years since that fateful day. The day they won against the sky people, since the day Tonowari and Ronal accepted them as true Metkayina. One with the Reef.
Since then the Sully’s and Y/n have accomplished a lot. Lo’ak was finally recognized as a man, completing his Iknimaya. He was Metkayina now, able to prove Payakan as a hero as the people accepted him.
Neteyam also completed his Iknimaya. Claiming a Tulkun for himself as well as a Tsurak on his first try. He was known as a fierce warrior amongst the clan, Tonowari and Jake were greatly proud of his accomplishments. He had proven himself, and was seen as a mighty warrior. He finally felt like he gained what he once lost.
Kiri and Y/n also finished their Iknimaya with equal results, following Ronal and her teachings as Tsahik. And today, Tuk had finally completed hers. Thus the celebration that had been held for the majority of the day in celebration of her. Her feats at such a young age were being appreciated greatly.
Once the celebration had died down, the group decided to sit around a fire, taking sips of the celebratory alcohol to reminisce about the past.
“Do you remember when Payakan swallowed you whole? I was so scared that you were sent to Eywa!! If it weren't for Tsireya and Ao’nung then I would have had to throw hands with a Tulkun in your memory” Neteyam lets out a booming laugh, Tsireya cracking up next to her mate. Lo’ak rolls his eyes playfully at his brother's antics, nudging Tsireya who sat beside him, their hands clutching small cups of liquor.
Y/n laughed aloud at the memory, she sat perched on a large log beside Kiri and her mate Roxto. His hand held her against him as she laid her head on his shoulder. The alcohol evading her system.
“Oh yea? Who was it that fell face first into the sea right after they tamed their Tsurak?” Lo’ak taunts, Roxto snickering loudly at the memory. Neteyam frowns, drowning his drink in one go. Y/n giggles, her eyes crinkling with happiness.
“I have a better story, how about that time Lo’ak burst into tears when getting his first tattoo? I remember the big fat tears rolling down his eyes'' Y/n teases causing Lo’ak to scoff loudly. Tsireya giggles at the memory, how Lo’ak clutched her hand in a vise-like grip that left a bruise.
“Hey! Not fair, you’re defending Neteyam again!” Lo’ak accuses causing  Y/n to send a playful wink across to Neteyam. Neteyam smiles, his heart thumping wildly against his chest. He didn’t know if it was the alcohol but Y/n looked absolutely breathtaking under the moonlight. Her hips grew fuller over the years, her bust also growing a few sizes, beautifully adorned with shells of the sea. Her hair had grew straight down to her waist, the tattoos running down from her arm all the down to her thighs. She looked stunning.
“Neteyam?” Tsireya calls his attention to her, his head snapping towards her. Embarrassed to have been caught gazing towards Y/n’s direction.
“Sorry, I blanked out for a second. The alcohol is strong. What was the topic?” He asks, glancing at Y/n who takes a tiny sip of the sweetly tangy drink.
“We were talking about crushes. Lo’ak said he didn’t like anyone but me-“ Tsireya furiously blushes as Lo’ak smirks wide. “-I admitted to a childish crush I had as a child that died down a long time ago. Before I met Lo’ak. Now it's your turn. Have you had any crushes?” She asks.
Neteyam feels hot under everyone’s watchful stare. He forced down  the sick feeling in his stomach, as he forced his stare on the fire in front of him. He didn’t stare at Y/n across from him, the girl who had his heart for years. The love that seemed to always  torture him, knowing he could never have her. How could he love her? Was he even worth her? These questions always kept his confession at bay after all these years.
He didn’t feel worthy of himself and he feared losing her altogether. He feared that if he spilled the longing he had for her, she’d run away and never turn back. Which is why he never even attempted to confess to her, painfully opting to watch from afar. Loving her from afar. It didn't hurt much since he grew accustomed to the pain, learning how to numb the burning jealousy and sadness within. He knew she didn't love him, that was the only thing that keep him sane.
There was no other female that ever held a candle to her, no other girl who took his breath away. No girl who caused his soul to smile with pure joy. There was no one that took up his heart the way she did, from the very young age of 13. It had always been her.
“Not really. Back home I was so busy with my duties I hardly had time to look for a potential mate let alone a crush. I did feel something once…… but it ended quickly. It also didn’t help that I had to stay vigilant and watch over my troublesome siblings”  he states, earning a glare from both Kiri and Lo’ak. Neteyam was shocked at how easily he was able to lie through his teeth. He added a tiny bit of the truth in there to make his story believable.
Neteyam stifles a laugh, looking anywhere else but Y/n. He didn’t want his feelings to betray him, after many long years.
The group seems satisfied with his response as they move on to Roxto, then Kiri. Both admitting to never having feelings for anyone else until they met each other. How romantic.
Then, it landed on Y/n.
“So, did you have any childhood crushes??” Tsireya asks giddily, genuinely interested. Y/n giggles covering her mouth with her hand, her cheeks turning purple in embarrassment. Neteyam finds himself smiling at the gesture.
“I did, and it wasn't a childhood crush. It was serious until I realized I didn’t have a shot and I had to move on” Y/n starts, every eye on her. All equally invested.
Neteyam goes stiff. She liked someone? It wasn't a child-like crush, it was serious. Who was it? Had he turned her down? How didn't he notice? Neteyam is bombarded with these questions as he leans closer into the circle. Now fully invested.
“Who was it?” Roxto asks, sitting on the edge of his seat. Y/n chuckles, sending Neteyam a quick apologetic glance. Neteyam’s eyes furrow in question.
“It was Neteyam….”
Neteyam’s ears flatten against his head, his breathing comes to a halt at her words.
“I loved Neteyam for the longest time, ever since I was a little  girl. I always followed him around” Y/n adds chucking at the memory fondly. Everyone shares smiles, wanting to hear more.
All while Neteyam sat frozen in time. She loved him? Ever since she began following him? ‘How could I have been so blind….w-we both l-loved each other?’ Neteyam felt stupid, he hated himself for not noticing. All that time thinking he wasn't good enough, all that time worrying he’d lose their friendship over a confession. All of the pain that came with watching her from a distance. All that pain. All of it could have been avoided.
“Did you know?” Lo’ak asks causally causing Neteyam to jolt up.
“N-no I n-neve-“
“I made sure he didn’t notice. I honestly never thought I had a chance which is why I decided to keep everything under wraps” Y/n quickly cuts in. In her eyes Neteyam looked disgruntled and slightly uncomfortable. When in reality he was beating himself up for being so foolish.
“How did you get over it?? When did you get over it?” Kiri asks, causing Roxto to nudge her. “You don’t have to answer if that makes you uncomfortable!” Kiri quickly adds,
“It’s fine, we're all adults here. And it was a while ago I guess…I took many years to get over him. But eventually I did and now I’ve finally moved on '' Y/n looks at Neteyam apologetically.
“I’m sorry Neteyam, this must be so uncomfortable. Hearing that your best friend once had a crush on you” Y/n says apologetically causing Neteyam to finally find his voice in the middle of his shock.
“No. It’s f-fine. If I knew I would hav-“ Neteyam whispers his feeling blubber inside of him. He felt he had to let her know, know that he felt the same. That he still feels the same. His feelings almost slip past his lips as Ao’nung walks towards the group with an annoyed sigh. Holding a tray filled with drinks accompanied with a gourd.
“Next time you guys want drinks, don’t order the future Olo'eyktan to grab them for you” Ao’nung grumbles, handing Tsireya the tray who passes it around. Neteyam mechanically accepts his glass, his eyes sorrowfully watching as Ao’nungs seats himself beside Y/n. Pulling her into an embrace.
Y/n stares up into his eyes lovingly as Ao’nung places a careful kiss on her cheek.
Neteyam feels sick to his stomach as he watches the mated pair cuddle against one another. His entire life he suppressed his feelings. Feelings he thought were forbidden. Dwellings he thought would harm his friendship with the girl he longed and dreamed about.
He painfully watched the last 4 years as Y/n and Ao’nung got closer together, eventually announcing their union before Ewya. Neteyam felt a part of him die that day, but he was okay and happy knowing she found someone she loved, after all, what he felt was unrequited, she didn't love him back. Therefore he never had a chance.
But now, all that self talk and self reassurance crumbled as Y/n had confessed she once loved him. For so long.
There was a perfect moment in time where  they both mutually loved another.
‘Only if I wasn't a coward’ Neteyam cursed, his eyes stinging with the unshed tears as he watched Y/n nuzzle against Ao’nung. Her mate for life.
He missed his chance, long ago. But now he would have to live with the knowledge he lost her not because she didn’t leave him back. But because he was too much of a coward to fight for his love for her.
“Hey, are you ok?” Lo’ak whispers quietly, ignoring the chattering group. He made his way over to his brother who had been dead silent for a while. He catches the glossy look in his brother's eyes, how he watched Y/n from across the fire. A look filled with longing, sadness and regret.
Lo’ak felt his stomach lurch at the thought that Neteyam might be on the verge of crying.
“Neteyam?” He calls again, Neteyam finally turning to his brother. His eyes blown wide as he struggles to hold in his tears. Small gasps escaped his body that caused his body to shake. Lo’ak realizes the symptoms Neteyam was having, a start of a panic attack. He quickly pulls his brother up, letting him rest all his weight against his body. This catches the attention of the group as Y/n stands up, her face scrunched with worry.
“Nete-"
“It’s fine, he’s feeling sick. Told you guys he can’t hold his liquor” Lo’ak jokes teasingly. He tosses Tsireya a knowing look before excusing himself from the group. All the while having Y/n’s  worried stare focus on the retreating boys.
As they walk a good few feet away Lo’ak glances at his brother's defeated face. The tears run along his cheeks freely as he tries to regulate his breathing. His face was in complete mourning, as if he had lost something of high value.
Lo’ak was able to put the pieces together, Why he had been acting differently. Why his brother always looked at Y/n as if she held the stars, in complete wonderment. And why he looked completely distraught hearing Y/n confess about her past feelings.
“It was her….you loved her didn’t you” Lo’ak states causing Neteyam to whimper out in pain.
“Yes” he gasps. He felt as though his world was crumbling around him.
“It has always been her”
Lo’ak felt his heart crumble, his brother, the mighty warrior looking defeated as the life in his eyes disappeared. It was as if he felt as though he had nothing else to live for.
Neteyam choked in another sob, unable to control himself any longer. He desperately wished he could go back in time. Tell his younger self to open his eyes. To take the step he couldn’t take.
He couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if he was aware of her feelings back then. Would they have been mated? Would they be this stupidly in love? Would they begin to start a family Neteyam always dreamed about. Neteyam couldn’t help but wonder.
‘I wish I knew…..’ his vision became blurry with the endless tears. His sobs taking him full force, causing him to shake in Lo’ak’s arms.
‘I wish I knew you wanted me’

Listen before I go// Simon (Ghost) Riley
Tumblr media
Reader kinda sounds like a wattpad (y/n)- listen I tried to make the reader not sound so stupid but- y’all I’m flabbergasted from how wattpadish this sounds 😭
Pt.2
Warnings: ooc ghost, reader kins (y/n) wattpad. Reader is referred as “you” but use’s she/her pronouns, angst, my writing, character death? Violence, love confessions? Oh, and no editing :))) 🫶❤️
Angst below the cut
“I’m in love with you.” Who knew those five words could’ve brought you so much pain. You were so sure that Simon had returned those same exact feelings. Or why else would he be so kind and heartwarming to you yet stone cold to anyone else.
A trickle of blood escapes your lip as you chuckle. God you hated yourself for confessing to him, otherwise he would’ve still been here and would’ve helped this hidden ambush. But he wasn’t, and you couldn’t take out an army of men all by yourself. But you’ve managed to escape, with a few bullet wounds to say to the least.
And now you were here, sitting against a gratified broke wall bleeding to death. Remembering that you had previously turned off your intercom, you turn it back on. You hear your name being called countless of times, asking for your whereabouts or your status. But with your head being so fuzzy, you don’t know if you talk even if you tried.
“She’s fine guys, I was with her last.” You hear ghosts voice through the little radio. Both of your definitions of fine were different, his was if you got shot you’ll be fine, just a little wound. But yours, well you weren’t really sure. It was more than a gunshot wound, that was for sure.
“What is your status? We’re going to be heading back on the plane shortly.” Prices asks, you can tell he was getting a little impatient.
You cough, more blood running down your dry lips. “Don’t think I’ll make it this flight. Can I catch it later?”
“What are you talking about?” It was now soap talking. “Where are you? We’ll come to find you.”
The line goes silent before you hears ghosts voice once more, this time in more of a panic.
“There’s blood everywhere. Hopefully it’s from these men you’ve slaughter (name).”
“Yeah, you could say that. Say, Simon you wanna make me a promise?”
“A promise?” He seems confused, you noted.
“Don’t blame yourself okay?”
He stays silent, almost hesitant for his next choice of words. It was almost as if he didn’t believe you. “What’s your surroundings?”
“You’re not going to make it in time Simon. It’ll be too late by then.”
“What is she talking about Ghost?” Price asks. To be honest, you totally forgot all about the other four.
But Simon doesn’t respond. His hearts racing, there was too much blood, too many footsteps to even count. And your empty gun.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Ghost hisses, “I’ve could’ve help you!”
You flinch at how loud he was. Who knew that a little radio could pick up the sound of anger in a persons voice. “Could you not bitch at me, I don’t need it right now.”
“When I find you it’s going to be more than being bitched at, (code name).”
Ouch, he must be pissed off if he was bringing out your code name. A sigh leaves your lips as you bring you hand to your face, wiping off the blood the kept dripping from your lip. He wasn’t going to find you in time, it wasn’t like you cared. It was going to save you from the future embarrassment of him seeing you in such a weak state and right after you confessed to him.
“Again, that is if you make it in time.”
Simon growls, “can you stop fucking saying that like you’re going to die?”
“You never know, I’ve been out here for awhile now. Never know if some animal is going to eat me for dinner.”
“Well aren’t you in luck, don’t think you’d be a subtle appetite to them.”
“Fucking hell,” you mumble. Your eyes were drooping from all of the blood that you loss. You were dying and you could really feel it now. “I’m by an old building. Not far from where you’re at, just keep going straight until you find a broken down wall with graffiti covering it.”
Simons end of the line was silent, but you assumed so. He was going to try to search for you all by himself because that’s what he does. If it didn’t hurt to chuckle, you would have. Cause it certainly didn’t take him too long to find you. You see the all to well know mask running towards you.
“Hey Simon,” you barely speak into the speaker, “I meant every word I’ve said.” Your hand falls to your side and your eyes roll back. You’ve done your best trying to keep your body going, but every has their weaknesses. Just as your eyes droop shut, Simon screams out your name.
There weren’t any moments where Simon feared life anymore. He lived through all terrifying moments of his life but nothing compared seeing your weak unconscious body. Simon could only run faster, hoping that he could beat death itself.
The man couldn’t afford to loose you, especially when he has something to confess too. God, his self hatred only grew when he turned you down harshly. Truth was, he was just scared. Scared that this was all of some sick joke one of the boys dared you to do. Scared that if he confessed right back, you’d laugh straight in his face and tell him you’d never feel the same way. But now that it hits him, you would never do that. You were too kind, and would never hurt him even if that meant hurting yourself.
“C’mon.” He whispers, his hands are on your shoulders. But when Simon pulls back to examine your body he wanted to puke. There was so much blood, he wondered how you could’ve even possibly walked a far or a distance and stayed on the line while waiting for him.
“Get the plane here now!” Simon yells into the radio, “I found (code name) but she’s unconscious!”
“Rodger that.” A voice responds, Simon doesn’t know who’s it is was but he frankly doesn’t care. He wanted you to wake up so he can tell you that he loves you. So he could tell you that he didn’t hate you, he was just lying.
After what felt like hours of requesting for the plane it finally came. Simon carefully lifted you up into his arms and boarded the plane. He ignored the worried looks of his teammates and gently laid you down on the cot so the medic’s could immediately get to work. Soap placed a hand on the man's shoulder and attempted to pull him away from the scene.

“Ghost,” Soap called out, his grip was getting a little tighter. “Come on, let them have their space.”

But Simon didn’t respond, he was stiffer than a board. He feared that if he were to leave you behind once again, you wouldn’t make it.

“You’ll get to see her once they save her, okay?”

“What if they don’t?”

Soap stays silent, watching over the girl too. His hand still on Simon’s shoulder. “Give her hope, it takes more than a few gunshot wounds to take her down. Just give’er a few days and she’ll be back up and bouncing.”

“I hope you’re right.”

Never threaten the Shelby sister 2/2
Info: Tommy never believed his sister when she said she was threatened by his enemies, but when injuries happen, Tommy is quick to make sure y/n knows how much he cares.
Relationship: Tommy Shelby x sister
Part 1
Tumblr media
The situation kept replaying in Tommy’s mind. Shooting the man, running to y/n, seeing his sister surrounded by her own blood and Michal leaning over her, begging her to stay with him as he held pressure to the wound, his arm bleeding from the shoulder. Tommy remembered shouting for someone to grab a doctor, and two men running out with a gurney, transferring his sister on it before rushing into the hospital. He remembered trying to get by them to be with his sister while nurses held him back, telling him to sit down and wait till the doctor came out.
Michal managed to get away with a few stitches, and a telling off from Polly about being so careless to try and take down two men when he was on his own. Y/n however, had fared out with serious injuries, and Tommy couldn’t help but blame himself. If he had of believed her than she probably wouldn’t be in this situation. She wouldn’t be lying in the hospital bed with Tommy holding her hand, her family coming in and out to see if there was any change. She was the one who took care of the patients who came an went, she wasn’t meant to be one. Instead, she lay on the bed while Tommy kept his head down, a grip on her hand, refusing to leave her side.
------------------------
“Any change.” Tommy looked up to see his aunt Pol standing at the door.
“No, nothing.” Tommy spoke, dropping his head to look at y/n.
“What did the doctor say?” She asked, moving into the room, and Tommy seen Michal following behind, winching as he jolted his arm as he sat down.
“They managed to get the bullet out but there was a ruptured vessel. They managed to stop it so it’s just a waiting game.” Tommy explained, rubbing y/n’s knuckles with his thumb.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t save her.” Michal spoke up, and Polly shook her head as she looked at her son.
“Don’t blame yourself pet, it wasn’t your fault.” She smiled before turning to Tommy, “It was your idiotic cousins’ fault.”
Tommy looked at Pol to see her piercing glare.
“Yeah, I get it, I messed up, is that what you want to fucking hear?” Tommy snapped, not liking his aunt at him when he knew he had messed up.
“Yeah Tommy, it is. You need to realize that if it wasn’t for you y/n probably wouldn’t be in this situation. This could have been prevented if you had just listened to her. But no, you had to be so high on your horse to believe her didn’t you.” Polly snapped at her nephew, and Michal looked away, not sure where to look. “Who was he anyway?”
“Doesn’t matter, he’s sorted. Won’t get near her again.” Tommy spoke, looking down at y/n and kissing her hand as he ran a finger down her face.
After an hour or so, Polly and Michal left with Polly promising she’d be around tomorrow, and warned Tommy to call if anything changed. Arthur and John had came by and said that they would be outside the door if Tommy needed them, stating that she needed all the protection she could get after the events of the evening, and Tommy agreed, saying that when y/n came through, he would be sure that a peaky blinder was around her 24/7, whether she liked it or not. He wasn’t going to let anything happen to her again. He realized just how much leverage his enemies would have over him if they got to y/n. She was his light, and Tommy knew that she was his everything.
That night Tommy refused to sleep. He spent the night sitting in the seat beside y/n’s bed, leaning back and staring into space. Grace had came by to try get him to come home, Charles had been wondering where his daddy was, but Tommy refused, stating that his sister needed him. This lead to an argument between the two, with Grace furious that he would choose his sister over her soon, but Tommy took no mind as his priorities lay with his sister. She was injured because of an error he made, and he wasn’t going to leave until he knew that she was okay.
It wasn’t until the early hours of the morning when an improvement to y/n’s condition was made. Tommy was knocked out of his thoughts by a slight movement of the hand he had never let go of since he was let into see y/n. Looking down, he could see y/n’s finger moving ever so slightly that he thought that it was his sleep deprived state that was making him feel it. But when he looked up at y/n and seen her head move to the side he knew he wasn’t hallucinating what he wanted to happen, it was in fact happening. In his desire to get y/n to waken up some more, Tommy stood up and leaned over his sister, placing a hand on the top of her head as he brushed back some lose hairs.
Y/n hummed as she felt the cool water hit the back of her throat. Licking her lips, she moved her head away from the cup Tommy had at her lips and winched as she swallowed. Tommy brought his hand back to hers and rubbed it between both his hands as he watched her try to open her eyes. Y/n struggled for a few minutes before finally opening her eyes, shutting them just as quick as she opened them when the light came to view. Blinking, she opened them once again, and Tommy came into her view, a slight smile on his face.
“Hmm, Tommy.” Y/n muttered dryly, smacking her lips together trying to get moisture to them as she kept her eyes closed with tiredness.
“Y/n, can you open your eyes love.” Tommy asked softly, rubbing his thumb around the palm of her hand.
“Water.” Y/n stated, though Tommy struggled to hear it with y/n’s dry throat.
“Here you go.” Tommy stated, quickly moving to the side of the room and filling a small cup with water, bringing it to her lips so she could drink.
Y/n indicated weakly with her hand for Tommy to come towards her and Tommy looked at her before sighing and moving back beside her bed. He took her hand once again and y/n smiled, squeezing it.
“Hey you.” He spoke gently, and y/n smiled slightly.
“Hey.” Y/n replied, moving to get up but gave up upon feeling pain.
"How you feeling love?"
"Like I've been hit by a bullet?" She joked, smile fading as she watched her brothers reaction.
"Y/n I'm so sorry for not believing you when you told me some guy threatened you. I should of trusted you and went to deal with him as soon as you said. But I didn't, and now look where you are." Tommy stated, throwing his hands up in frustration.
"Tommy, it's okay." Y/n tried to calm him down.
"No, it's not. And don't play it down like it is. You could of died y/n, and that would of been for my stupidness." Tommy said, standing up forcibly.
"Yeah, and I was beyond hurt that you didn't believe me. But you saved me from a worse faith Tommy. You got him and got help before it was too late. You may not see it but if it wasn't for you turning up when you did I would be very dead right now." Y/n explained to Tommy, and he looked at her with unease. "Come here."
" I thought you'd hate me." Tommy spoke in a small voice, one y/n hadn't heard in a long time.
"We make mistakes Tommy, and we learn from them. Be glad nothing terrible happened, don't overthink what you could of done. I'm here, and I'll hold it against you, but I could never hate you. That's not in my blood. Besides, the rest of the family hate you enough for me." Y/n stated, smiling slightly to ease Tommy's worry. "I love you Tommy, that will never change."
"I love you too." Tommy smiled, kissing y/n's hand, "and from now on someone will be with you at all times."
"Course they will." Y/n muttered before smiling at Tommy, knowing it would make him feel better.

Tumblr media
It didn't take much for Yoongi to worry about you. He could tell something was wrong by something as simple as the way you worded a text or how you carried yourself on a particular day. In fact, he knew you better than you knew yourself. Habits, tastes, quirks. Some of which he'd tell you, others he kept to himself because he didn't want you to stop doing them, because he knew you'd stop if he did.
He knew you well enough that you'd stop all the things he loved most about you if he uttered a word about them, it was a habit of yours he hated. You never did it consciously, of course. It was like it was programmed into you that the second someone told you they loved a feature, you’d change it or one of your quirks, you'd stop doing it almost instantly.
And that list of things he loved was long. He'd probably have to write a book, but there were things he hated, one in particular.
You never wanted to bother him with your problems.
It drives him mad.
He's your best friend, Yoongi would remind you constantly. You're problems were his problems and vice versa. someone broke your heart? They broke his. Someone mistreated him? They mistreated you.
One thing always remained certain for both of you, no one would argue it. You'd take a bullet for each other in a heartbeat.
"You've been staring at the same screen for twenty minutes, hyung." Namjoon broke the silence of Yoongi's studio, interrupting the elder's thoughts.
"Sorry, You wanted something?" Yoongi asked nonchalantly as he swung his chair to face Namjoon, greeting him with a forced smile.
Namjoon held up a set of headphones he'd taken from one of the shelves in Yoongi's studio. "Mine broke, I knew you had a spare."
Yoongi rolled his eyes endearingly, a small breathly laugh slipped out.
"It wasn't my fault this time!" Namjoon protested his innocence.
For once, it actually wasn't the clumsy man-child’s fault.
"Ah yes, it's the little man that mysteriously comes in your studio and breaks all your stuff," Yoongi teased.
"Uhm, It was, actually." A blush rose on Namjoons cheeks, whether he wanted to admit it or profusely deny it, he could give a tomato a run for its money. "Jimin was in.. he.. sat on them."
"Suuure," he teased further, "I'm sure that’s what he, no, the two of you, were doing."
"Hyung!"
"Dongsaeng?" Yoongi hummed, giving Namjoon a knowing look.
"Back to the original point," Namjoon deflected. "Are you okay? You were miles away."
"I'm fine," Yoongi looked back at the lyrics on the screen, his expression changing instantly. "It's y/n."
"Is she okay?"
"I don't know" He rested back on his chair while running his hands through his long, fluffy hair. "I haven't heard from her in two days. I was meant to have dinner with her and got really into writing this song and I had an idea for the beat and went all in. She knows I get like that sometimes, and that's the reason when I don't reply."
"Sometimes." Namjoon rolled his eyes jokingly.
"I messaged her that I was sorry and we should have breakfast, no reply. I text about dinner an hour ago, and it's not even delivered."
"You're telling me this like you've never just welcomed yourself into her apartment a million and one times." Namjoon reminded him with a raised brow.
"I really have to fin.."
"GO!" Namjoon ordered his hyung. "Leader privileges," he defended quickly when he realised how abrupt he was while still pointing towards the studio door.
He didn't wait a second longer. Even leaving the studio in his slides, forgoing the Nike dunks by the door. Leaving Namjoon to save his work and sort all his equipment which he gladly did. He was worried about you too, more so because you meant so much to someone that meant equally as much to him. Thirteen years isn't easily forgotten, and you were there too.
He made it to your apartment twenty minutes later, letting himself in like it was his own home.
The sight he saw was enough to cause an ache, vice like grip on his heart.
Quickly making his way to be by your side.
With gentle calloused fingertips your best friend tilted your chin up, his smile was warm and inviting, but his eyes were filled with worry and sadness, even guilt for not noticing something was wrong sooner.
The pad of his thumb wiped away the tears that stained your cheeks, neither set of eyes straying from the others, you only briefly cut eye contact to blink away oncoming tears as they clouded your vision.
You weren’t there, not really. Yoongi knew better than to pressure you into talking, so he stayed silently knelt in front of you for a moment, his large hands engulfing your little ones before bringing them towards his lips for a quick peck before he took a seat beside you. He took you into his arms and kept you close until you stopped crying, not a care for the time that went by or the fact that his phone kept going off. It wasn't important, not right now.
“You're gonna be okay,” He talked softly, quiet as a mouse like he was afraid to startle you.
He repeated himself over and over, followed by 'i love you', 'you're safe with me" and every other sweet thing he’d ever told you. Your cries eventually turned into quiet hiccups to unsteady breaths and eventually a quiet calm, the room filled with nothing but your breaths and the noises from the street outside.
You stayed like that, in the comfort of his arms, in silence. An hour went by, maybe more.
He looked down at you, almost falling asleep from exhaustion, your entire face red and puffy from so much crying. All the overwhelming feelings all on your own, so intensely burst like a dam. He wasn't leaving your side, music would have to wait. For as long as you needed him, he was going to be there.
"Don't sleep, jagiya. Let me make you something to eat, alright? We'll get you cleaned up and in some fresh clothes. You can sleep after that."
You shook your head.
"Yes," Yoongi told you sternly, not too harsh, but he wasn't going to let you keep doing this to yourself, not on his watch. "I will chew it for you and spit it in your mouth like a mother bird, if i have too."
You scrunched up your face in disgust, causing Yoongi to chuckle softly.
"That's what I thought."
You didn't protest when Yoongi ushered you into your room, you didn't want to hurt him. He was getting you in the bath regardless. It wasn't like he hadn't seen you naked before, definitely not under the same circumstances, but it didn't faze him then, and it won't faze him now.
He went into the bathroom and starting filling the bath, picking your favourite bathbomb and dropping it into the bath, smiling to himself as it turned purple and a light lavender scent began to fill the air. He grabbed some towels and put them in the dryer to warm up for you before coming to help you out of your clothes.
"Do you trust me?" He asked.
"Always," you replied in a coarse whisper.
He was careful, gentlemanly, checking your face for any sign you were uncomfortable. You were okay until he went to help you out of your tracksuit bottoms, he watches your hands clutch tighter to the bedsheet and the faint hitch in your breath.
"I'm sorry," you tell him before nodding in permission for him to take them off.
He took one look at your thighs before looking up at you, leaning up to press a light kiss on your forehead. "Don't ever apologise for how you feel, I just wish you'd told me it was getting this bad again."
He wrapped his arm around your body, helping you toward the bathroom and helped you step into the bath. He relaxed a little when he heard you hum as you lowered into the water.
"Is it hot enough?” he asked, watching for any discomfort.
“S’good.” you hum, tracing over the bubbles with the tips of your fingers. Yoongi watched on with a little smile before he sat himself on the edge of the bath, reaching for your favourite body wash and a soft sponge, opting for the soft option rather than a loofah.
He squeezed a drop of soap onto the sponge and scrunched it together in his hands until it was covered in vanilla scented suds.
“Tell me to stop if you want me too,” he told you, leaning forward to get a look at you when you didn't reply. You nod for him to go on, even though you were miles away. He could tell by your eyes, he decided to just get on with it. He moved gently around your back, air in the bathroom filled with it's vanilla scent, mixing with the lavender. It was even making him sleepy. He watched you close your eyes beginning to relax as he continued on.
Once he had you covered in bubbles he rinsed you off with a cup he had sitting near by in the water and began washing the bubbles off. He saw your back rise and fall with a deep breath, a yawn he came to realise. He glanced at your face and your eyes in a fight to stay open as you moved your hands up to your face slowly and rubbed at your eyes for a moment before dropping your hands back into the water. Yoongi smiled. You looked adorable, if he was honest.
He was equally as gentle when washing your hair, missing some of your routine but the goal was to get your freshened up and comfortable, not Miss Universe.
“You can lay back now if you want.” Yoongi offered, you sighed and slumped in the tub, body sinking into the bubbles.
"Why do you do this for me? You're always there." You finally spoke more than one word.
"Because even if everything else was to disappear, I know you'll always be there."
"What if I'm not strong enough?"
"You are," he told you, leaning down to kiss your forehead again before he left for the kitchen to make you a quick snack, knowings it’s probably all you could stomach or be bothered to eat.
Crackers and a makeshift topping would have to do because it was all you had.
He brought everything you two would need for the night including the hot towels from the dryer to the bedroom before Yoongi helped you out of the bath, taking you into the bedroom wrapped up in the toasty towel to get you dried off and into some PJs.
“Which Pyjamas do you want?”
You pointed to him with a sweet, innocent smile.
“My top?” he chuckled. “Really?”
“Please?” and like clockwork you put on your best puppy dog eyes. Jungkook taught you well because Yoongi could never say no.
He rolled his eyes playfully and took off his shirt, pulling it over your head for you and smiled contently when he took a look at you. “You’re so adorable,” he smiled up at you before instructing you to sit between his legs with the hairbrush he had in hand.
You sat in front of him, lightly snacking away on the food he gave you when you sat down while he brushed through your hair, effortlessly putting it into two french braids. He’d watched you do it enough times and he was a quick learner, especially if it was taking up his cuddling time with you.
When you finished eating, Yoongi went to tidy up while you got yourself into bed. Half asleep when he came to join you, he switched off the light and climbed into bed with you.
Instantly cuddling into him with your head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat as you began to drift off to sleep.
“Can I play you a song I’ve been working on?” he asked, cuddling you in close.
Yoongi presses play on his phone as you nod.
Somebody does love but I'm thinking ‘bout you.
He watched as you drift off to sleep, running his hands through your hair, softly singing along until his eyes fell heavy and he drifted off too.
Maybe one day he’d tell you the song is for you.

summary: request
eddie diaz x reader
gif from @eddiediaaz
a/n: hi everyone ;) i wanted to post this, but i really wasn’t a fan of it. it was quite different from the request once i reread it, so feel free to let me know if you’d like this redone in more detail ;)
she wasn’t sure how she found herself on the side of a hospital bed grasping her lovers hand, trying to cling onto his life for as long as she could.
what would normally be the sweet morning before a shift had taken a turn for the worst. y/n’s fingers now ran over the rough skin on eddie’s hand, her hands still brushed crimson from the thick blood.
the bullet was so loud and it still ricocheted off y/n’s brain. the sniper may have been caught, but he still left his curse to lurk over the pair. it was incomprehensible to think of someone so carelessly try to take the life of someone who saves them for a living.
there was never a bad bone in eddie’s body. not one drop of bad blood or mal intent in his massive heart. now, he was being punished despite his innocence.
whenever eddie gets hurt, it adds another scar onto y/n’s heart. it crosses out a mark that he left and carved into her. it threatens to take away everything that they’ve built. the last time he was on the brink of death, y/n prayed that he would be kept safe. no one must have been listening.
in the stuffed engine while speeding to the hospital, y/n only had one question on her mind. when will the torment of watching the love of her life get ripped apart end? it seemed like it wouldn’t stop, along with the stream of blood rushing from his wound. eddie held the most amount of admiration and love for y/n in his body, and now it was all a mess in her hands as he faded in and out of unconsciousness.
just seeing the building in front of her was overwhelming. staring at the towering stories of the hospital, not knowing if eddie would ever come out again. it was a joke, she hoped. it could be her fault too.
he jumped in front of her, throwing her to the side so she would only have a scrape instead of a gunshot through her body. that was the last thing he could remember, the protection running through his veins as he saw her life in danger. eddie would still be standing if she had remained in her place. if he didn’t love her so goddamn much, he wouldn’t be in that operating room.
no matter where she looked around her, she couldn’t escape. his blood soaked into her uniform and concealed her skin color. the thin layer of fluid on her body was still suffocating, watching him be rolled away and watching his best friend on the sidelines.
the room was deafening once the surgery had ended. nothing could interrupt such a cruel moment. the beeping of the machines and the growling of y/n’s neglected stomach were only comparable to the drop of a pin.
by now, the darkness under her eyes was bold on her face along with the exhausted demeanor she had. her back was slumped as if it carried the universe on top of it. to her, she was carrying the world. she was trying to pull eddie out of this alongside herself. the only water that had touched her face had been those of her tears, drying and leaving an solemn residue on her cheeks. she could still feel the warm, slick blood between her fingers whenever she ran them together.
the 118 passed in, seeing eddie in the bed and almost not being able to take it. they couldn’t miss the skeleton next to him, the one that had been losing liveliness with eddie. the amount of lives eddie has saved is unimaginable and he did it with ease. so why is it so hard to save his own?
y/n couldn’t tell whether or not it would be the last time she held his hand, or let alone the last time she’d see him out of these walls. maybe she’d see a body, skin and muscle, but she wouldn’t see eddie. it was so immensely hard to be there for two people, but eddie needed her.
she waited from sunrise to sunset, and when the sun shined back over the horizon line, eddie came with it. his bright eyes illuminated the room and brought the tears back to y/n’s eyes. it was terrifying, it was wonderful, it was beautiful. and when he finally uttered the soft words she loves to hear, the universe had given her another chance. a chance to save him and a chance to hold him.

oh, and your writing is absolutely amazing!! 💕💕
thank you so much!! this is sorta short but definitely sweet also I don't have the streaming services that First Class is on so it's not completely accurate but its close
Come Through
pairing: Young!Charles Xavier x Fem!Reader
word count: 775
warnings: cannon typical violence and injuries also completely changing canon like the true fanfic writer I am
masterlist
"I told you to stay away!"
"And I told you that you don't make my decisions for me!"
"Oh, you're right, I'm so sorry for caring about your safety!"
"You treat me like-like I'm some glass ball!"
"Oh my God." Alex groans, looking up at the sky. "Not this again."
"Do they normally do this?" Moira asks, eyes flitting between the two. They continued their argument as though it was the most normal thing to do at this moment.
"Yes," Hank starts, crawling out of the wreckage. "Though never after our jet has fallen from the sky."  Suddenly, the two have stopped fighting, which causes everyone to turn to them. Y/N and Charles are staring across the ocean, eyes wide in fear.
"Oh shit," Charles mutters as he stares at the missiles heading in their direction. Y/N grabs Charles' hand, and he squeezes it back tightly. Was this it? Was this the end? Suddenly, they all stop in their tracks. Everyone stares as Erik put his hand up, venom pulsing in his eyes.
"Erik," Y/N whispers as she sees them all turn in sync. She knows what he's planning, knows that if he does this there's no coming back from it. Mutants will be murdered on sight; there would be a war.
"You don't have to do this, Erik," Charles' hand slips out of Y/N's as she turns to watch him walk toward Erik. Her heart is racing with anxiety and adrenaline.
"Yes. I. Do." As he says it Moira starts firing, every bullet taking more of Erik's focus to deflect, causing a few missiles to fall into the water. Y/N's heart starts to race as time seems to slow for her, head spinning as she realizes something very, very bad is about to happen.
It flashes before her eyes, the image of Charles being shot, him falling to the ground unmoving. She's barely out of it before she's tackling Charles to the ground, feeling the bullet skim her side but miss Charles completely as they hit the sand. She can't even begin to comprehend what she just did.
The missiles fall as she screams, Erik's attention completely diverting to her. She lets out a wince of pain as Charles immediately flipped over, holding Y/N in his lap and moving his hand to find her wound. It doesn't take long, her letting out a scream as he brushes over it.
"What have you done?" He yells at Erik, who stared wide eyed at the blood beginning to stain her blue suit. He feels sick at the sight.
"I'm fine," She muttered, a small smile on her face despite the searing ache running across her left side.
"This is your fault!" Erik yells as he begins to stalk toward Moira, who had dropped the gun and was covering her mouth.
"No! I didn't mean to," Moira is reeling, guilt clawing at her even though she hadn't been aiming at Y/N.
"Don't even think about it," Hank stops him, raising his eyebrows in threat.
"How did you know?" Charles asks, and before Y/N can even think about lying his eyes are widening. "Your powers." He mutters, smile on his face only because Y/N was beginning to get up, meaning she wasn't as hurt as he feared. The two were completely oblivious of the others around them.
"I don't know how to control it." She groans as he helps her up, the pair not quite sure how they're going to get off this island. It seems Erik and his friends - including Raven, Charles notes with a lurch of his heart - have teleported off the island.
"I can help." He tells her, letting her thread her fingers with his. Her arm was around his neck, his around her waist. "I could have helped."
"It came through when I needed it to." She looks up at him, and he pauses as his eyes flicked to her lips. He was about to lean in as he watched her close her eyes, head tilted up, but then she was flinching away. Charles felt the hurt of rejection run through his body before she let out a hiss of pain and he looked down.
"Sorry, I'm sorry." Hank was kneeling at her side, putting a piece of fabric over her wound. "To stop the bleeding." He looked up at the two, took in Charles' face, and he opened his mouth in shock.
"Thank you, Hank." Y/N muttered, feeling her face heat up.
"I'm so sorry." He got up and moved away quickly, and Charles chuckled slightly, only feeling a bit awkward.
"Where were we?" Y/N said, her forwardness surprising Charles. He stared at her, only hesitating one second before putting his lips on hers.

Taking care of you
Daryl Dixon • She/Her Reader • The Claimers did a number on Daryl, but thank god you and Rick showed them not to fuck with their family. After witnessing you take care of Daryl and his injuries, Rick couldn’t keep the obvious to himself • ANGST/SFW • TW: Injuries / Canon Violence
Requested by: Anon
Tumblr media
That was it
The last punch the unfortunate Claimer thrown at Daryl, was met with bullet and the ring of the gun was linked to the woman that the archer had claimed to keep the disgusting men from harming her.
Y/N.
“Someone get—-“ Joe was cut off by Rick taking him out with a harsh teeth driven bite into the throat and that gave Michonne her window.
The distraction of their leader and colleague meeting their fates, gave Michonne the window to take out the Claimer behind her and for Y/N to kick up Rick’s hatchet from the ground firmly grasping it in her hand. Before throwing it at another Claimer’s chest knocking him back.
It was a bloody mess. Rick and Michonne went for the Claimer that was harming Carl, then finishing the job to the leader and Michonne’s Claimer.
Leaving Y/N to help Daryl up to his feet before kicking down the approaching Claimer but as he went down, he grabbed her leg forcing her into an uncomfortable split. The archer weakly but gained enough strength to save her from his grasp by crushing the lights out of him.
The five were going through it.
Michonne comforts Carl as the two took up the car to sleep in and hopefully forget some of the horrors from just a few hours ago. Rick kept an eye on their surroundings while trying and struggling to calm his inner demons.
Which left the two to lick their wounds, or more so Y/N care for Daryl’s wounds with the supplies she had and have collected from the dead. She was about to use the last of her water to clean up the dried blood on his face but he stopped her and told her to continue to use the rag she currently had damp instead of wasting a useful resource.
Rick heard the small bickering from the two and turned to watch Y/N grab Daryl’s chin listening to the man grumble but cave. He let her clean up the blood on his face to check the wounds there after she had bandaged parts of his abdomen.
“Is Y/N injured?”
“I checked already” Daryl informs Rick as Y/N quickly glanced to him showing the small bandage on her cheek while she mainly suffered small cuts and bruises.
“I’m thinkin’ we should find shelter that can cover all of us under a roof. There’s a neighborhood near by”
“Sounds perfect. Gives time for Carl and Daryl to rest”
“I ain’t need any—-“ Daryl winced when he tried to get up as Y/N smacked him gently in the chest. “Fine.”
“You need help up?”
“I’ve got it. But if he needs help walking can…?” Y/N asks without asking to help support Daryl with her to this neighborhood and of course Rick agreed.
As the retired sheriff left the two to check and tell the others what’s to happen, Daryl gently turned her head toward him to check the bandage but more importantly the bruise that came with it.
“If we find a home with more supplies. Then I can try and stitch the gash in your leg” Y/N interrupted his thoughts as he was about to object but the worry in her eyes pierced right through his chest. How could he argue with her?
“As long as theirs alcohol to numb it”
“Never took you for a man that would need a little anesthesia” Y/N giggles a little at the thought, as Daryl admires her voice for a moment. “If we find it. You’ll—-“
“Drink it. Numb my brain from what yea doing”
“Ah, that’s what you meant” She giggled once more before getting up off the ground and picking up her belongings. “Maybe you’ll be in luck” she revealed the travel size bottle she had acquired from her time before Daryl found her while in the Claimer’s group.
When the two were in the claimer’s group for a day or two before running into Rick and the hell that followed after it, Daryl tried asking Y/N what happened to her in the time apart since he told her everything from his end. All she told him was “it wasn’t as bad as what happened to you” and left it at that.
As the group started to move to this neighborhood, Rick brought up. Rick helped Y/N help Daryl walk to the best still standing house so they wouldn’t have to barricade much. It was a one story with two bedrooms. But since someone had to take watch, Daryl opted to stay on the couch in the main area of the house that spilled into two rooms. Dining and Kitchen.
“You’re not going to be able to do anythin’ if you can barely walk” Rick comments once they had set the archer up on the couch.
“Least I can see a few entrances from where I’m set”
“I’ll stay out here and we’ll alternate throughout the night” Y/N states watching the tension in Rick’s stance relax.
“Alright. Well let’s barricade the door, then turn in for the night” Rick states pushing Daryl back down when he tried to get up and help as Y/N squeezes his shoulder on her way past the couch.
Once the main room doors were blocked with items they found closest to it. Dining room table for the kitchen’s door leading to the backyard, console for the front door in the living room. Then Y/N went to help Daryl lay down and elevate his leg while Rick got Carl situated in one of the rooms to sleep in with Michonne doing one last sweep of the place for items. She set all her findings on the coffee table in front of the two, leaving them to go through it while she also went to check on Carl before taking up the other room as Rick was going to stick with his son on the floor.
As Y/N found a sewing kit within the mix, she had Daryl roll up his pants to reveal the bandage had already seeped through the dressing. It definitely needed stitches.
“Gonna sterilize that needle?”
“Since when do you know what to do?” Y/N glanced over at him before returning her attention to getting her supplies prepped.
“I pay attention to when yea helped Hershel back at the prison, even the farm”
“Hm. You were a squirmer at the farm. Fish out of water”
“Oy. I got shot and impaled” Daryl scoffs. “What kind of bedside manner is this”
“You want me to be soft and gentle? When I’m about to pierce a needle through your skin?” She scoffs picking up the needle and getting a thread through it after pouring some of the alcohol from earlier on it.
“You promised”
“Okay yeah” Y/N rolls her eyes smiling as she handed the rest of the bottle to Daryl before not waiting another moment to stitch up his leg after cleaning it the best she could.
It was painful but he held on.
When the group finally turned in for the night and Daryl was taking on a shift, he mainly sat up watching the entrance/exits every now and then before looking down at the sleeping form on the floor right beside the couch.
Daryl watches her person sleep for a little while but the second he looked away, the mood changed. He fully sat up listening to her sob in her sleep.
What could she be thinking about? His worry got him as he moved his leg over wincing slightly and leaning over to nudge her awake. Which she did and quickly wiped away the tears. Like this has happened before.
“Sorry, was I snoring?”
“Nah…you’re just…” Daryl didn’t want to say it, if Y/N particularly didn’t want to.
All she did was look up at him with the sadness from whatever she dreamt written all over her face. She got up from the floor picking her jacket up along the way as she used it as a blanket.
“Lay down”
“Sorry?”
“Can you just” Y/N frowns gesturing for him to just do what she asked, he did and watched her move his injured leg over before climbing on top of him.
Her head instantly placed itself on his chest as the rest of her body relaxed and loosely drape over him as she had her legs between his to avoid his injured one. But to also not fall off the couch.
Her anxiety made her think that he would toss her off, and then she would know. But the archer brought his arms around her keeping her close as humanely possible.
“Get some sleep alright?” He whispers to her as she snuggled into him while he fixed her jacket to cover her.
The morning came and Rick found himself staring down at the two. He didn’t want to wake Carl and Michonne was rationing the food they found for breakfast that morning. So she was also there to notice the two laying on top of each other. He gave her a quick glance as she shook her head indicating to just let them sleep for now.
But when a few hours passed since that moment and the two were closer yet still being a bit awkward. The second Carl left with Michonne to check out the neighborhood, Rick shut the door harshly startling the two when Y/N was checking his wound.
“Y/N, you’ve got a minute?”
“Sure, just let me finish” Y/N gave him a puzzled look as to why he had to shut the door like such. “Don’t touch it, alright?”
“Doctor’s orders” Daryl shot her a smile before watching her leave with Rick, which brought his own confusion to his face.
As the two stepped out, Y/N assumed it was to do a perimeter check or to get Michonne and Carl wherever they may be within the neighborhood.
“So, where have you been before—-“
“You like Daryl yeah?”
The assumption made Y/N stop in her tracks giving him a deadpan look while he did his hands on the hips followed with the intense glare.
“Why are you—-“
“Why were yea sleeping together?”
“To keep fucking warm at night—-“
“Nah that ain’t it. If yea didn’t like the guy some sort of way you wouldn’t—-“
“I wouldn’t assume, Rick.” Y/N hissed. “You don’t get to know what happened last night because one part of it I’d like to forget…but none of the parts including Daryl. He was there for me when I needed it and I appreciated it”
“So…you’re just gonna deny the obvious”
“I DOUBT HE LOVES ME BACK” Y/N yells at her friend making his posture relax and take a step back. “I like what we have and I don’t want to go away like that—“ she snapped. “I love Daryl Dixon with all my heart…but I can’t lose him. I lost enough in this world. I don’t want to lose him”
Maybe he should’ve talked to Daryl first Rick thought watching her head back to the place they were holding up in.
Once the group regained a bit of their strength, they started to make their way toward this sanctuary that they’ve seen several signs for. Rick pulled Daryl to hang back, letting the three take the lead and ultimately pulling him away from Y/N who he was beside.
Y/N glanced back at the two watching them talk about something as she wishes she stuck back to listen but she wasn’t in any mood to talk to Rick at the moment.
“Want me to watch out ba—“
“You need to get your head out of your ass and tell her how you feel.”
Daryl felt lost in his own head in the sense that his thoughts were racing. Oh. It was obvious? Not. That obvious. She doesn’t know. Or does she? Why the FUCK is Rick bringing this up?
Rick felt as if the light in Daryl’s head went out as he instantly punched him in the arm to snap him back into reality.
“The hell am I supposed to even go about it?”
“I don’t know! But do something before you lose her”
Now that was a bit wrong of Rick. To implant the thought of losing her when she’s very much alive and right in front of him with a respectable distance. Doesn’t matter. She could be across the country or right in front of him and he’s fear of losing her every second. Rick stating such as if it were fact, made his anxiety get the best of him.
And that anxiety ate him when she suggested something stupid.
“Nah, you’re coming with us”
“It’s best to approach this at every angle and if they only see one coming through the front door? Then they won’t expect you four investigating the place further”
“I know you’re gonna hate me saying this, Daryl. But we’re going with Y/N’s plan” Rick states starting the walk to the other side of the place with Carl following shortly behind him as Michonne waited for Daryl.
The two shared an exchange without words as Y/N brought Daryl into her arms for a moment. He had gripped onto the back of her jacket with an unbreakable grip but it felt like a cue to separate when Rick whistled indicating he’s about to head in.
But the fear that came with watching her walk away…grew worse with time.
And the fear turned into anger and anxiety when the guy running the joint, Gareth, tossed a beaten up Y/N to the floor right in front of the feed trough that they learned the hard way was a blood collection for slaughtering animals. Daryl tried to break through his ropes to try and do something, while Rick was close to tearing everything apart the second he was set free.
The man did, to be clear. The second the distraction they really need, the explosion, took Gareth and his aimed gun at Y/N’s head away from the scene. She gave Rick a look and the second the wild man broke free, she lifted herself off the ground wincing in pain and taking the knife she had in her boot—a place no one looked—and threw it at one of the men’s throats as Rick instantly went for the other. Both going down and Rick went for Daryl first with releasing as the archer quickly removed his gag on his way over to Y/N latching onto her.
“I should’ve stuck with y’all” She weakly laughs as Daryl pulls away for a moment looking into her eyes seeing the confusion write itself on her face when he didn’t say a word.
Next thing she realized was Daryl pressing his lips firmly against hers. Y/N wanted desperately to keep the kiss going but they were both interrupted by Glenn yelling their names to get them off their asses and out of there.
Once collecting the rest of their family and meeting up with the one that gave their saving window, Carol, Daryl pulled away while Rick talks with Carol on their way over to wherever they were going to be beside Y/N.
“I’ve loved you since I first met you” Daryl whispers to Y/N as she turns to him smiling warmly trying her best not to let the overwhelming feelings get the best of her. But when the tears formed he gently took her wrist stopping the two. “Y/N…”
“I was just…so afraid of losing you” She silently sobbed as he carefully wiped away her tears before kissing her cheek and bringing her into his arms.
“You have me. You’ll always have me”

All The Quiet Nights You Bear

Pairing: din djarin x gn!reader
summary: Din Djarin is not warm, he does not drink hot drinks, or sit in steamy baths. But for you, he can try.
Tags: angst, din djarin my sweet boy,, bathing, yes this is just giving Din a bath, fluff, hurt/comfort but I'm hurting all of you and comforting him, mention on Din's mother, angst with a happy ending, tooth-rotting amounts of intimacy, non-sexual nudity, no use of Y/N and no description of reader
word count: 1.8k
A/N: Before I start! This is my first official fic that wasn’t a bullet-pointed list I keep in a locked notes app on my phone so I am begging y’all to please be gentle with me. I want to give a MASSIVE shout-out to @joelsdagger for not letting me off the hook and making sure I stick with this, literally would not have been able to do this without her. So the fic: basically I got in the shower one day and thought about Din just being soft, and thus this was born! Fair warning that I Will by Mitski was in heavy rotation while writing this. I literally love him like a real person and he makes my heart hurt and I want to take care of him, so I got self-indulgent. I also don't really know the star wars universe so this is me making shit up as I go!! Anyway!! Peace and love from me I hope y'all love it as much as I do!!
Din Djarin is cold. He slept under the thin sheet he kept in the bunk of the crest for years, his beskar was always cool to the touch, he took cold showers. The idea of warmth never put him at ease either. It seeps into him, clinging to his body under his armor, reminding him of his blaster right after setting it off. He wants to crawl out of his skin anytime he finds himself on a dry planet, sweltering under its suns.
Din wasn’t used to just how quiet life ended up being on nevarro. Grogu was in school most days, there was relative peace in the area, yet he still found himself clinging to his old self. Never relaxed, always on edge like he was waiting for a fight to break out. You find yourself watching him more closely, recognizing his routines, wanting to put his mind at ease. But how could you? He still took cold showers, quick and precise about it. Never lingering to enjoy the feel of water on his skin, never stopping to relax.
He thinks that the last time he truly took a hot shower was before he took the creed, when his parents were still alive, when he was only Din Djarin the boy, not a mandalorian. It hurt him to think about it, to picture his mother. Her face had grown fuzzy in his memory after decades without her, but he could feel her. The way her eyes were always soft and warm, her voice like the gentle rain that lulled him to sleep when he was young. He missed her. He missed the way she used to hum while warming the water for his bath, the smile on her lips when he would run up to her. He had tried once, to take a warm shower, to try and remember the oils his mother used to use when he was young. It had ended in him slouched over in the bathroom, the steam almost too much, silent sobs tearing through him. So no, din djarin did not take hot showers.
But you? You were warm. So warm he felt like he was melting every time he even thought about you. The way you kissed his fingers, the gentleness you have while holding Grogu, the look in your eyes when you lay with him. You were all warm showers. The steam that tumbles after you when you open the door lingers around you like it's trying to surround you, to crowd your senses, to be all over you. Everything that din wants to do to you. He would chase after you throughout the whole galaxy if it meant you would say his name, soft and sweet like he was being saved just by hearing it.
You were the only warmth that he craved. The only heat he allowed himself to enjoy, to truly want. And so when you call him over to the bathroom, voice soft and gentle, he comes. He will always come to you. You smile when he enters the room and takes in the scene in front of him. The bathtub full of water, steam rising from above it. You, with an expression warm enough to rival the water, eyes locked on his. “Come here,” you whispered, taking his hand in yours. He was uncharacteristically slow to move towards you, but you stood there, hand still waiting for his. Your hand took his, your thumb tracing over the side of his fingers so soft he could barely feel it. “Din-” you whisper looking up at him, “let me take care of you, sweet boy”
That was your boy. The one you were working so hard to melt, to make him soft around the corners. It was rare that he wore the armor anymore, his days usually spent at home with you and Grogu, the need to hide no longer necessary. You bring his knuckles to your lips as a silent promise to be gentle, to not let him break. “Is that okay?” you ask, hand still holding his.
He nods, not trusting his voice nearly as much as he trusts you, and you smile. God that smile. Din Djarin would live in that smile if he could. The only smile he thinks will be in his mind like his mother’s. You reach for the hem of his shirt, not pulling at it yet, just letting your fingers rest on top of it waiting for any indication that he was okay with it coming off. You hear a small hum leave his throat and you help him take it off. This was a sight you would never tire of seeing. Tan and broad, his tummy soft under your fingers likely because of your cooking, and god was he beautiful. “Always so pretty to look at” Your fingers trail on his chest. You place a kiss over his heart, a gentle reminder that it was yours and that yours was his.
You watched as he removed the rest of his clothes, admiring the vision that he was. Yours, yours, yours. You nudged him to the bath, waiting for him to get in. He didn't think he could do it. It was hot. It was like the ones his mother gave him. It was not like him. He was not soft or warm, he was cool and hardened from years of fighting. But it was like you. It was for you. And for you, he could do anything. He let out a soft hiss as his feet hit the water, the temperature still taking him by shock slightly.
“It's okay, just relax. I've got you” Your words pulled him from his thoughts, looking over at you with a tilt of his head.
“You’re not getting in cyar’ika?” he sounds disappointed, almost like he wants to beg you to hold him, but you shake your head at him.
“This isn’t for me din, just want to help you relax okay?” You move to sit on the stool you put behind the bath, grabbing the basket full of oils and shampoos and letting them fill both of your senses. You use a cup to grab some of the water and pour it over his curls, the strands dampening and sticking to the back of his neck. You take the time to press a soft kiss to his head, nose and lips wet with the water. You pop open the bottle of shampoo you had fought to find. Din rarely spoke of his life before the creed, but you knew enough to set out on a search for it. The aroma of the shampoo grew easier to smell when you poured it into your palm, sandalwood and something almost citrusy being massaged into his hair. Your nails rake over his scalp and press into his forehead where you know he gets headaches. A soft groan leaves his lips, his eyes fluttering shut.
“Is this alright my moon?” you whisper, not wanting to disturb the peace that had settled into the room along the steam of the bath.
“It’s perfect my sun,” he replies, words uncharacteristically soft for him. A small smile finds its way to your lips as you continue to massage the soap into his hair before rinsing it out, taking care to not get it in his eyes.
“Scooch up, I'm gonna do your shoulders” You dip your toes into the water, legs resting against his thighs before grabbing the soap and a washcloth.
“So pretty for me Din,” a kiss on his neck “always so perfect,” another one above his collarbone “don't know what I would do without you.” a third kiss on his shoulder, right above a scar he had gotten over the course of his career. You let the soap run down his back gently, watching the bubbles drip down and hit the water. You rub small circles into his skin with the washcloth, running water over it to rinse off the soap, before moving to his arms. Even before you had seen his arms, you had known that he was strong. Hunting bounties all day, fighting, piloting the crest, had led to his arms and hands being known for violence, for having blood on them. But not to you. To you they were the ones that draped across your body at night, the ones used to hold your son while you were out in the markets, they were warm and strong and perfect. They shielded you and protected you, and while you didn’t think you could do the same for him, you were willing to try. Your fingers trace patterns over the scars and freckles he has, goosebumps forming on his skin.  He is sitting in front of you in the bath, the water so hot at one point, that his skin is a little red. Your hands are in his hair taking time to wash it, to truly wash it. Your nails rake against his scalp as the shampoo lathers, before you rinse it out taking care to not get it in his eyes. You massage the conditioner into the ends of his hair, before leaning down to press kisses onto his shoulder.
“Thank you for letting me do this for you my moon” you murmur resting your chin on his shoulder. He lets out a soft hum that you can feel as you’re pressed up behind him. “Thank you for doing it, my sun.” you can feel the water growing colder than you would like under the two of you, so you make quick work of rinsing the rest of the conditioner out of his hair, lightly curling a few strands around your finger as you finish. Neither of you wants to make a move to get out, the warmth of each other making the water’s temperature almost obsolete, but a sneeze betrays him getting a giggle from between your lips, and din swears it’s the sweetest sound he will ever hear. He can feel your lips curled into a smile as you let your forehead fall to rest on the back of his shoulder and shake your head.
“Time to get out I think,” you say, reaching over to grab a towel for yourself before stepping out and pulling it around yourself. Din stands next, taking his towel from your hands and wrapping it around his waist before pulling you into him, a surprised “oof” leaving your mouth as he holds you against his chest. You blink up at him, eyes twinkling at just the sight of him and raise an eyebrow waiting for him to speak.
“Thank you cyar’ika,” his words tremble slightly as he takes a deep breath “Really, this was amazing.. Thank you.” He presses a chaste kiss to the top of your head before letting one of his hands capture yours, interlocking your fingers together. “Anything for you my love” you whisper back before nodding softly to your shared bedroom “Come now, let’s just rest for the day.”

first of all i just wanted to say that i’m actually in love with your writing and i can’t wait to read more from you!! anyway i was thinking of some good ol’ peter hayes x fem!reader where they were both in candor together and hated each others GUTS, but then when they transferred to dauntless, peter starts developing feelings for reader so he follows her around like some puppy but she’s still on the peter-hate-train. maybe also like he starts talking to some other female dauntless initiate and stops giving reader as much attention and she finally realizes that she likes him
(this is such a long request i’m so sorry)
thank you so much!!

Starting out life on your own terms. A fresh page, a blank slate. This is why you decided to switch factions in your Choosing Ceremony, why you agreed to never see your family again except by something as meager as coincidence. Friends, neighbors, blood relations, all left behind with one swipe of a knife against your palm. It’s worth it, though. Running through the streets of your city like your world is on fire, you’re free for the first time in your memory. It’s just you in this new, grand place they call Dauntless.
Well, you and Peter Hayes.
Of all the people to come here with you, of course your fellow transfer from Candor would be Peter. Bold, callous Peter. Peter, who’s had it out for you since you were kids. No child should know that much bitter hatred, but the two of you have been arch rivals since you were small. You’d be lying if you said that leaving him behind didn’t factor into your decision to transfer from Candor to Dauntless even a little bit, but yet here he is anyway. Turns out you couldn’t run that far from him after all.
To you, it makes perfect sense that if Peter Hayes had to go anywhere, he would go to Dauntless. All throughout his time at Candor, for as long as you can remember Peter, he had been crafting his words to inflict as much misery as possible. In the eyes of the faction leaders, anything he said was fair game so long as he was telling the truth, and Peter did just that. He told his truth, which was precisely like reality except warped to cause as much hurt as he dared.
Peter’s words were honed to a knife’s sharpness, easier for drawing blood than the syringes of your faction’s truth serum. Of course he would go here, where bullets are no longer how he shapes his syllables to spike into your throat but a real thing. Why bother with figurative pain if you can produce the genuine article?
The two of you had ended up here for precisely opposite reasons. Peter wanted to hurt, you wanted to fight back. Candor is full of self-righteous bullies who believe they’re doing the right thing by being uncommonly cruel to anyone they pass. In Dauntless, everyone is finally on a level playing field. If someone insults you, you fight them, and no amount of callous words can save you then. Talk is nothing if you can’t back it up with prowess. For someone who had to swallow plenty of poison back in Candor, Dauntless is like a holiday.
However, the one thing that makes your paradise fall short is the fact that Peter decided to come here with you. He had made his decision independently of you, of course, but you’re still infuriated about the whole affair. This was supposed to be your fresh start, your one chance to escape your past and become something no one expected of you. That’s the whole point of the Choosing Ceremony, isn’t it? To kill off the old you and transform into the best version of yourself?
That had been your plan, at least, and then Peter had made his choice. You wouldn’t go anywhere but Dauntless even if your entire faction transferred over here, but it did complicate things. You had hoped that you and Peter would always end up on opposite sides of the room, then opposite ends of the faction, and never come in contact again, but as per usual, it looks like Peter isn’t much inclined to follow your whims.
From the first day alone, you knew he was going to be trouble. You were one of the first to jump, fresh off the exhilaration of the free fall plunge from the top of the roof, and reeling in the lingering aftereffects of your largest adrenaline rush to date while waiting for the jumpers to take their turns off the edge. The room was crowded, more so with each new jumper to make their move, yet somehow in all that chaos, Peter managed to find you. It didn’t bode well for the remainder of initiation, to say the least.
You had been hoping that the two of you could exchange silent, wary eye contact and then move on, your past shattered and gone for good, but instead Peter wove his way through the throngs of people and came to a stop by your side.
“Look who we have here,” he says, drawing the words out, “Y/N L/N. I never thought you’d have the guts to come here.”
“And I always thought you’d be too much of a coward to leave Candor,” you reply. “Looks like we were both wrong.”
Peter’s eyes widen and he chuckles, evidently not expecting your retort. “Careful, L/N. Didn’t know you had such a sharp tongue.”
“You’ve known me for years,” you say, eyeing him coldly. “If you didn’t know that, you’re about to be very surprised indeed. I hope you didn’t set your hopes on making first place in initiation, Hayes, or you’re going to be sorely disappointed.”
Up ahead, one of the initiation leaders is calling for the trainees to fall in after him. You take this opportunity to breeze past Peter, who’s standing there and staring openly, mouth agape. You’ve put up with his bullshit for many years now, always taking it silently in fear of jeopardizing your position in your faction, but no longer. You’re on even footing again for the first time in a very long time, and you have absolutely no intention of ever caving to Peter Hayes again.
For Peter, it seems, your decision is a very rude awakening. You immediately fling yourself into the intricacies of fighting and running and shooting, which causes you to rise quickly through the ranks of initiates, much to Peter’s chagrin. Although he’ll tell anyone in earshot that he’s only letting you do so well because he thinks it’s funny to watch you struggle, you can see the panic in Peter’s eyes when you crush one fight after another. You meant what you said, after all. It’s first place or nothing, and you don’t intend on settling for anything where Peter’s concerned.
Your rivalry becomes just as well known among your new friends in Dauntless as it was back in Candor. Hardly a day goes by without you and Peter getting in each other’s way, whether it be slamming each other into the ground during a fighting match in the ring or running yourselves ragged in an attempt to be faster, stronger, better. It’s like you can’t get away from him.
Everywhere you go, Peter is there too. Staying late after initiation to get some more practice with throwing knives, he just so happens to choose the target right beside you. Walking over to the training gym in the middle of the night because you can’t sleep and might as well use the empty hours to improve, Peter seems to have the same bright idea to practice with the punching bags even despite the midnight hour. You don’t like the fact that Peter seems to have such a good knack for telling when you’re awake or asleep, you have half a mind that he might get frustrated of the close competition and take you out while you were sleeping, but he’s never gone that far.
Your friends seem to have a different view of the whole affair. Every time you complain to them about Peter never letting you have a moment’s peace, Tris and Christina, your closest friends in initiation, just exchange knowing looks and begin to tease you. They seem convinced that Peter doesn’t hate you but actually harbors a crush, which is beyond you. There’s no earthly way that Peter likes you. The two of you have despised each other since before you could talk. The whole idea is absurd.
Still, if you were nothing more than an unknowing bystander, you supposed you could see how the situation might be misconstrued. A lifetime of truth-telling in you has to admit that maybe it is a little suspicious that you and Peter can’t seem to go an hour or two without running into each other, that Peter is both your greatest threat and the object of your every waking thought. It’s just because you want to beat him so badly, of course. Of course. If it weren’t, though. If you were thinking of him not because of hatred but for something more–
You wouldn’t. You would never be so foolish. This is how Peter wins, by twisting his way inside your mind until you’re second-guessing every single thing he does, and you’d die before you let him win. If he’s willing to play the game, though, you’ll do anything to beat him at his own technique, so you up the ante and repeat it right back to him.
Sarcastic comments slip from your tongue whenever you see him. When Four takes the initiates out on guided runs, you make sure you’re jogging right by Peter the whole time, your pace steadily increasing until both of you end each race at a sprint. The rest of the trainees have learned to leave two targets side by side for you two whenever it’s time for sharpshooting practice, and heaven help the hapless initiate who asks one of you to spar as if the other wasn’t standing right there, guarding their territory.
It doesn’t mean anything, though. You still hate Peter to the ends of the earth, and everyone around you had better know it, too. You despise him as much as it’s physically possible for a human being to hate anyone, but then he starts spending a lot of time with someone else, and suddenly the hatred is far harder to come by than it ever was, and you’re not sure what to do with yourself at all.
He’s spending time with another girl. Which isn’t bad, of course. He’s got friends. You do too. But. One time at dinner, you heard Tris saying that he’s looking at the girl the same way he used to look at you, and she wasn’t talking about hate, and you cannot tell whether you were supposed to deny that he’d ever done anything but hate you or be furious at this new girl for stealing his attention away from you, so you didn’t answer at all. You didn’t sleep a wink that night, and gave up a few hours in to try and train some more. He didn’t follow. He always follows. Not this time, though, and when you came back, he was quietly whispering with the other girl. Hatching sinister plans, no doubt, or planning to stab someone in the back. He didn’t even look at you when he came in. It was like he didn’t even care.
You feel sick to your stomach. You intentionally ask other trainees to spar in the ring– look, Peter isn’t the only one capable of moving on– but it’s like he doesn’t even notice. You want to slam your hands against his chest and shout in his face, do anything to make him look at you, but instead you stay sullen and quiet and pretend like nothing has changed even though everything, everything, has.
It hits you, about two weeks later, what the problem is. Like a lightning strike in the dark of night, all of a sudden you know, a knowledge that had been blank and absent before but totally unavoidable now. You like Peter. Hell, you might even love him, if you gave him that chance in your heart. Peter might have liked you, but you brushed him off for so long that he moved on.
It hurts like a jagged hole in your heart. Someone has reached inside and broken your ribs to claw this feeling out from where you’ve so cleverly hidden it, and there’s no disguising the horror of the wound now. You couldn’t escape it if you tried.
You found out this truth about yourself in the middle of a Dauntless party, and it kills your mood completely. You can’t stand the loud music or flashing lights anymore, so you put down your half-empty cup on one of the debris-strewn surfaces and make your way out. No one notices you leave. You’re a ghost on the outskirts of a celebration of life, and there is nothing here for you anymore.
You wander until you end up on the bridge overlooking the pit near the center of the Dauntless complex. You stand as close to the edge as you can, hands gripping the flimsy railing until you’re not sure your fingers could peel away from the rusting metal if you tried. If you’d felt any buzz from the party at all, you’ve sobered up by now. You have no idea how long you’ve been standing here, skin chilled by the drafts of the pit, and then a voice sounds from behind you, and you’re abruptly dragged back to reality once more.
“I thought you’d be back in there with the rest,” Peter says, coming to a stop beside you.
You don’t dare to look at him, opting instead to keep your eyes firmly trained on the drop over the edge of the pit. “I could say the same thing about you.”
Peter sounded genuinely curious when he asked, but your tone is harsher, colder. You still haven’t forgiven him for moving on just when you realized that you liked him, and it’s leaching into your voice. Peter chuckles even still. “No, not me. The best part just left.”
You risk a glance his way, and to your surprise, he’s looking at you. “Are you being honest with me, Peter?” You ask.
His face twists into chagrin. “Looks like we can’t beat the Candor out of ourselves after all, even despite all the training sessions we’ve pulled. I’ve tried, though.”
“You’ve done a good job,” you muse. “It’s me who needs to be fixed the most.”
Peter’s brow furrows. “What are you talking about?”
You shake your head. Maybe you weren’t as sober as you thought. “Never mind. It doesn’t matter.”
“Says who?” Peter asks plainly. “I’m here, aren’t I?”
You regard him suspiciously. “You haven’t always.”
Peter has the grace to look embarrassed. “I’ve done things I regret.”
“I don’t believe you,” you say, and laugh to hide your heartbreak. “I know you, Peter Hayes. I know what you do. I’m not falling for it. Not again.”
“It worked before?” Peter asks, genuinely surprised. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
This time you do laugh for real. “Why would I? And give you another weakness to exploit?”
Peter flinches as if you’ve slapped him. “I deserve that, probably, but I’ve been trying to be better.”
“Why?” You ask. “You’ve never cared what I thought, and you certainly don’t care about being better. Nothing about you makes sense, Peter. You’ve got a girl back there in the party who’s probably looking for you now, but instead you’re trying to apologize to me. You’ve never cared about that before.”
“But I do now,” Peter says, voice unexpectedly strong. When he turns the force of his gaze back on you again, you feel totally rooted in place, unable to move even if you wanted to. And, when he starts to move closer to you, one hand coming to rest on top of your fingers, you’re not sure that you do. “I do care. I’ve been trying to tell you that for weeks.”
“I thought you were excellent at telling the truth,” you whisper.
“So did I,” Peter replies. Hesitates, then says, “Only other people’s truth, it turns out. You were always my best secret. I wanted to keep you the most.”
Your breath sticks to your lungs, refusing to grant you release. None of this makes sense. Peter would never– But he is now, standing in front of you, telling you as much as he can. Peter still wants you. It’s up to you if you want him, too.
After everything he’s done to you over the years, you owe him nothing at all. He’s hurt you more times than you could count. When you’re cold, bitterly cold, freezing down to the bone with no way of rescue save your own rough and ragged principles, you burn everything around you. Clothes, shoes, furniture. Even people. Peter burned you, and so severe was the flame of your mutual hatred that it made it impossible for anything to grow between the two of you but a jealous wrath.
Peter has left the cold of Candor and traded in his shivering bones for Dauntless’ natural warmth, and now he finally has the room to put out the fire again. He’s stamped out the inferno, or tried to, at least; but upon inspecting the last flattened spark, Peter can’t tell if he went too far. It is immensely difficult for him to discern if he has left anything of you but char and ash.
What could have been a beautiful thing went up in smoke the moment he first raised a harsh word against you. Peter loves the truth, loves most of all to twist it, but in the end, the truth cannot help him here. Peter knows what he wants the truth to be, but the truth is no substitute for reality. It is up to you if you can ever forgive him, and no amount of pretty words on Peter’s end can change that.
It’s up to you, and for the first time since you came to Dauntless, you know precisely what you want. “I know what you mean,” you tell him carefully.
Peter’s face cracks in a tentative smile. “You know? So you–”
“I do,” you interrupt. “I like you, Peter.”
You have seen Peter furious, filled with righteous vengeance. You’ve seen him bloody and bruised on the other end of a sparring ring. You thought that the brightest emotion you’d ever see on him was the pure flame of hatred, but it turns out there’s one thing better than wrath, and that’s sheer, incandescent joy. He wears it now like the finest of luxuries, and you decide that you’d like to see it many times again. As it turns out, you’ll have plenty of chances.
