I'm doing a watch/rewatch of Star Wars: the Clone Wars because I only watched like 2.5 seasons back when it was airing and I've got Disney+ back, so I might as well.
And I'm being reminded that poor C3PO is treated like this big glaring annoyance by literally everyone for no reason??? He's a protocol droid who keeps getting dragged onto battlegrounds and thrown into space fighter jets and held at gunpoint, and people keep telling him to shut up and pushing him around for talking about his function or being upset about having guns in his face?? He's so used to being bullied that the second anyone says anything halfway nice to him he's like a golden retriever who was told he was a good boy. Everyone stop being mean to Threepio he's a little dumb but he's good at what he's built for and he's doing his best at everything else he gets thrown into :'(
I want to give him a big party to plan, with lots of important picky people who all speak different languages and like different cultural foods. He deserves enrichment activities!

A lot of people have talked about Benoit Blanc's accent. Was he always going to sound like that, was that in the original script?

this line fucking hit.
but it's true.
queer people for years, centuries, have been oppressed for being their most authentic selves, by the people who call themselves heroes and us the monsters, even nowadays with the most recent law for allowing discrimination against queer people in America. They call themselves the good guys, the saviours, the ones completely in the right and justified for hating against people just trying to live their lives. And apparently we're supposed to be the bad guys in this story.
i'm so glad that this movie came out when it did, the world really needs it.

i hate what bingeing culture has turned the consumption of media into. the pressure to watch everything all at once as soon as it drops otherwise you simply can't go onto social media or 'it's your own fault, you should know better!', the way it forms a dread around shows you know you can't watch straight away because of life commitments when you should be excited for them, and the way buzz only lasts for a few days before inevitably, everyone moves on and forgets about it. i just wish i could return to the excitement of weekly releases that kept me guessing for months on end and fostered a discussion around media

Okay, so I'm currently in the middle of a watch/rewatch of Miraculous Ladybug, because it's a cute action cartoon with fun villain designs and I keep hearing rumors of bonkers lore that I missed, so I decided to catch up with it. The fact that I'm happily a few episodes into Season 4 should tell anyone familiar with this show just how tolerant I am of status-quo-focused, highly episodic cartoons with inconsistent lore that doesn't always make sense. I'm a longtime fan of Transformers G1, so that kinda set the bar for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That said, I am STRUGGLING through "Ladybug & Cat Noir: the Movie". The one that was made a musical, for some reason, and that I unfortunately can't watch in French because I have..."acquired" it.
At every turn, I'm just going "why???". Mostly when it comes to wtf they did to the characters in the title. Why are their personalities like...half-inverted? It's like half their cartoon personalities (I know they ain't that deep, but they're existent/consistent enough that this is bugging me) have been flipped backward. One moment they act recognizably like the versions in the show I've been watching, and then they're back to Generic American Sassy Protagonists 1 and 2. Maybe a lot of it is just the English voices that don't quite fit, but it's all so off! Given that a major guy working on the cartoon directed and wrote this movie, I'm just baffled.
Also, apparently this film is the second most expensive ever made in France??? And it made back half its budget. Ouch. Watching it, I understand why the fandom didn't exactly flood the theaters, but ouch.
