Been playing around with making some of my faves into triple changers! Here’s the Skyfire/Jetfire concepts, he’s a shuttle and fire truck. I imagine becoming a triple changer is an extremely stressful process for any mech. So it’s got angst potential baby! Ultra Magnus is next :3

thinking abt how if heatwave had agreed to join optimus' team his third form would probably have ended up being a jet or another aerial vehicle. like he scanned the boat bc it was there when they needed to get out of a tight spot, but since nevada is in the middle of nowhere and a boat would be super weird there he would have needed to scan a flying thing to get out of a bad place.

anyways that would be so funny also team prime would probably be like "wtf wtf how did he do that. optimus. how did he do that triple changers don't exist anymore." and then someone would say "neither do rescue bots" and they would kinda shrug and nod and accept that yeah this is weird but so is everything they know about heatwave.

the decepticons would respect that and also be VERY confused. i think they would kinda be like "ah yes he has realized flight is superior to driving! gave up his alt mode for it-- wait wtf how is he still driving now he was just a jet. wait a damn minute he's a triple changer how did we not know this" and the next time an autobot is captured decepticon high command all shows up and starts asking questions. shockwave wants to experiment on him and the others just want to know when this happened. also how. how would be nice to know.

MECH all of a sudden has a new target. don't worry they cross him off when they realize how easy heatwave is to aggravate and also how willing he is to act on said aggression. they're kinda like "c'mon this guy is an autobot how bad can-- GET DOWN HES SHOOTING. ok. so let's leave him alone." and then they do.

A complete reimagining of my fan take on Bumblebee's design. Where I used my old one as a jumping point to create something far more unique and interesting. Alongside turning him into a triple-changer to give him both of my favourite Bumblebee altmode options (futuristic hover/aircraft and an actuall Bumblebee((stylized for obvious reasons)).

My own version of Fangry, the transformers headmaster.

I always liked Fangry's alt mode of a winged werewolf monster, and when recently a new toy came out with a new dragon alt mode I decided to combine all of this and give it a spin.

I decided to give him a more medieval look, sort of black knight aesthetic, to go with its dragon and winged werewolf modes, and instead of a gun I gave him a large mace for a weapon

So far I only have her Protoform, I haven’t designed what she will look like once she gets her alt forms, but she is gonna be a triple changer

so funny that heatwave is technically short as hell we just dont ever realize bc he’s only ever with people that are either also short or people that tower over everyone. like bumblebee is also short so we dont recognize how small the rescue bots are and optimus is so much taller than everyone that its hard to recognize how much smaller the rescue bots are compared to other bots. boulder is literally like the same height as arcee. they’re all short as fuck. i just think heatwave’s is the funniest because one: he’s a truck just like optimus and ultra magnus, two huge bots, and two: he’s a vehicular triple changer, and technically a quadruple changer. triple changers are big as shit and this tiny little dude is a quadruple changer!!! hes fuckin shit up while being like half optimus’ size even tho they’re both trucks!!

anyways pls take the time to imagine heatwave meeting other vehicular triple changers and being like “wait wtf why are you guys so tall??” and them being like “wait wtf why are you so SMALL??” and then losing their shit when they learn he’s not only a quadruple changer, but also that his 4th mode is a DINOBOT, another historically huge genre of bot.

Known Triple Changers:

Overlord - A cruel disloyal deception with a hidden soft spot no one can find. tank and jet (he/they/it)

Astrotain - A hardworking joyful train conductor who is loyal to the Deception cause. spaceship and train (he/they)

Blitzwing - He rather be at bed then in a meeting. jet and tank (he/she)

Tankor/Octane - Jumpy mech who is very friendly, avoids Overlord like the plage. tank* and airplane (he/tank)

Broadside - The moody yet somewhat chill. jet and aircraft carrier (he/it)

Sandstorm - A small quiet mech who is really loyal. jet* and jeep (she/he)

Soundless - A mute Soundwave clones with a special connection with Cosmos. space station and jet (it/its)

*Different alt mode than canon

Soundless is a Soundwave clone created by Shockblast. Very few know of his existence. He appears in the clone world building post.

Triple Changers, Adaptus, and Adaptusians

(Content warning for religion, religion aspects, gods, and death. Skip to next section if you are not comfortable)

Adaptusians, worshippers of Adaptus, believed that triple changers were demi gods given the gift of a third form by Adaptus. While, Adaptus did create triple changers, he only did so to see if it was even possible to give a Cybertronian three forms. He did not create them as/to be demi gods. Seeing how fixated Adaptusians were, Adaptus stopped creating triple changers so frequently.

Adaptusians realized this and thought Adaptus was mad at them. Some then thought that perhaps triple changers stole a third mode from Adaptus. Wrongfully angry, some Adaptusians murdered triple changers and sacrificed some to Adaptus. Adaptus was furious and upset. Mortilus sees this and creates red scraplets. He sent the red scraplets to destroy the Adaptusians who dared to kill to Adaptus's creations.

Adaptus sees this and tells the Adaptusians who were against the idea of killing triple changers to avoid the red scraplets. After the red scraplets disappeared, all that was left was the Adaptusians that Adaptus warned. Those Adaptusians thanked Adaptus and told Adaptus that they would keep both triple changers and red scraplings safe.

[tl;dr Adapts creates triple changers, some Adaptusians try to kill them, Mortilus creates red scraplings, red scarplings kill/eat those Adaptusians.]

Red scraplets were created by Mortilus for Adaptus. Red scraplets can take any shape they want to. They will have their own post.

Functionism and Triple Changers

(content warning, I'm talking about functionism. This has elements that might make some readers uncomfortable)

Triple changers confused Functionists when the caste system existed. Triple changers have 'opposite' alt modes. One flight mode, one ground mode, Soundless being the exception.

All triple changers are only forged due to the fact that Cybertronians haven't be able to figure out how a triple changer works. Thus they are not able to cold construct triple changers. Note, Soundless was cloned and was not cold constructed nor forged.

Since the Functionists couldn't figure out what to do with them, they chose one of the triple changers' alt mode and made them do work aligned with the chosen alt mode.

They are huge!

Triple Changers are big, twice times a regular mechs size at the minimum. While some of their alt mode share parts, some parts aren't shared. They also can fit regular sized bots inside their alt mode. That being said, they also shift their mass aka mass shift. This allows them to triple their size.
