Plant of the Day
Tuesday 30 January 2024
The foliage of Calathea species (zebra plant, rattlesnake plant, peacock plant, cathedral plant, prayer plan) is sensitive to cold and grows best in a warm, moist atmosphere. Throughout the course of the day, these plants move their leaves around known as nyctinasty.

Guys… I got a calathea…
My one plant rule was “no calatheas” but I got a calathea. Now, in all fairness, it was $3 and was on the sale table outside. So if it dies I feel like I can blame it on that

@flawlesschowchow submitted: Hey, I found this millipede in the potting soil of one of my tropical plants and I was wondering if I could get an id on it. I live in [removed] (please remove location), but considering that this plant is not native to my region, this location might not help with IDing. It was found in the Rattlesnake plant (Goeppertia insignis) pot, if that information helps.
Also, any advice on what to do with it would be helpful. I don't want to release a potentially non-native species into my area, but I also don't want the poor thing to just live in there without any food. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
It's a flat-backed/polydesmid millipede. It looks to me like a greenhouse millipede, which is not native but was introduced a long time ago and is now common so releasing one individual isn't gonna hurt anything. On the off chance it's not a greenhouse millipede, rattlesnake plants are common enough house plants that I'd bet it was grown locally unless you ordered it from out of state, but to be safe, you can leave the pede in the plant if you don't want to kill it or feel weird about releasing it. It will have all it needs to eat in there as they feed on decomposing organic matter and there's plenty of stuff in the dirt + old leaves from the plant itself that it could happily eat for the rest of its life. It may come out when you water the plant, but otherwise you wouldn't see it much.

La Isla Bonita - Striker x Singer! Reader
Tumblr media
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La Isla Bonita
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and siting my eyes
Your Spanish Lullaby
La Isla Bonita - Madonna
Tumblr media
You were definitely special, Striker had no doubt about it, when he heard you during the competition he was captivated by your melodious voice, even when you called him "snake". In fact that made him a little amused, because it was quite obvious that he was a hybrid, but even so Striker couldn't help but look at him even for a moment and when he saw you, he really became fascinated by you.
At first, you seemed to be a fairly normal imp, you had black hair and black horns with small white stripes, traits typical of females of the species. However, what differentiated you from the rest was that you had a curvy silhouette. The red dress you were wearing only highlighted your wide hips and hugged your waist. Also, your makeup and the roses you used to decorate your hair made you stand out a lot more than other girls and your natural beauty will stand out; and Striker knew from the first moment he saw you that you were very beautiful and that he had to conquer you.
"Vil víbora." He heard you say that phrase in Spanish that he couldn't understand but that he wanted to interpret as a kind of compliment.
Did you also speak Spanish? Every moment that passed he became more interested in you and it seemed like the feeling was mutual, Striker laughed internally as he saw how you tried to hide your blushing cheeks with your fan.
Do you really think he didn't notice your persistent gaze towards him throughout the competition? Maybe this was going to be much easier than he thought.
When he won the competition, (which clearly cheated) and claimed the prize from him. He turned his gaze to you and saw you cheering for his victory. Striker chuckled as he rattled his tail like a real rattlesnake and shared a look with you, he saw your pretty eyes get scared of him.
"Aw, you're too sweet for hell, sugarcube. But I'd still go after you." Striker thought to himself.
Before he could do anything he heard the voice of another man who saw that he called you and you ran towards him; He seemed to be your father, since you looked a lot like him and when you approached him, he heard you two start speaking in Spanish.
Striker watched you walk away with your father, and somewhat disappointed because he couldn't talk to you, he limited himself to going to the place where you saw the competition. That's how he found your red fan that was lying on the floor, he picked it up from the floor and cleaned the dust off it, with this he smiled through his teeth again.
Now he had an excuse to see you again and he would definitely go after you.
You've captured his attention after all.
___________________________________________
Striker really didn't expect to find you so quickly, he simply decided to attend the party he was invited to by one of the farmers who had worked with him recently. Striker wasn't exactly a party guy, but he wasn't going to turn down the opportunity to drink a beer and have a good time if he wanted to, so after the competition he went through it seemed like a good way to celebrate his victory.
But he didn't expect to see you.
As soon as he was welcomed at the party by his boss and his wife, that's when he saw that you were in the middle of the small improvised stage with a classical guitar in your hands and some mariachi musicians who seemed to accompany you. You were still wearing the red dress that accentuated your pronounced curves and beautiful figure so well, you put your black hair in a ponytail and you seemed to have more red roses since the last time Striker saw you.
"¿Cómo puede ser verdad?"
There was no doubt that it was you, he could recognize that beautiful Spanish accent of yours anywhere.
Last night I dreamt of San Pedro
Just like I'd never gone, I knew the song
A young girl with eyes like the desert
It all seems like yesterday, not far away.
When you started singing on stage, Striker had his eyes on you and only you, just like you did when you watched him in the competition. I knew you had a beautiful voice, but the fact that you were a singer was a real surprise that Striker didn't expect but that he somewhat admired about you.
It was no secret to anyone that he is also a music fan. He knew how to play the guitar, he sang and composed, but you just showed that you were at his level; that was saying a lot with the big ego that the rattlesnake demon had that made him stand above the others. That you made a good impression on him was surprising, like some kind of miracle.
Such was the amazement you gave Striker, that even his boss could notice how quickly you caught his attention, so he simply let out a laugh.
"So, do you like that girl, son?"
"Well, she really is a sweetheart, Hal. Do you know her?"
"That's my niece."
Striker momentarily stopped looking at you to narrow his confused eyes at Hal.
"She's your what?"
"Yes, she's my niece. She comes from Carmen's side of the family, they come from the other side of Wrath, and every so often we get together to spend quality time. But that always ends in big parties and my niece is the soul from the party."
Tropical the island breeze
All of nature wild and free
This is where I long to be
La Isla Bonita
And when the samba played
The sun would set so high
Ring through my ears and siting my eyes
Your Spanish Lullaby
Hal was not exaggerating when he said that you exuded dazzling energy and passion, you seemed like a bright light that shared its warmth to others beautifully, Striker cursed under his breath.
Not even Beelzebub could compete with you, darlin'
"And you already knew my niece, Striker?"
Hal's question caught Striker off guard, it's as if he had taken a bullet in his shoulder or at least that's how he felt it, but he tried to calm down a little to answer.
"I saw her during the competition today, she looks like she's from Wrath but I haven't seen her here before either. She's so…"
"Special?"
Striker was actually going to say "hot" but took Hal's answer as valid by nodding his head. To which Hal just let out another laugh.
"I know what you're going through, son. I also felt the same way about Carmen when I met her, an attractive and charming woman, from the other side of Wrath but who seemed as if she were the last drop of dew in the desert; but her love It burns as hot as the hottest flames of hell."
I fell in love with San Pedro
Warm wind carried on the sea, he called to me.
You threw one of the roses from your hair into the crowd, who fought over the rose like wild animals fighting over food, but you didn't care about that as you tentatively approached a boy in the front row to whisper in his ear.
Te dijo te amo
Although you whispered it, everyone heard you, the guy in question fainted, while all the men in the crowd, upon seeing this, decided to attack the imp that you paid attention to. Striker didn't blame them, he would do the same thing if he were in that place, he still could do it, maybe tonight he could shoot a couple of heads off. A young lady as beautiful as you couldn't settle for just any imp, no, you deserved a man who could protect you and he could easily fill that position.
He had to make you his.
I want to be where the sun warms the sky
When it's time for siesta! You can watch them go by.
Beautiful faces, no cares in this world.
Where a girl loves a boy, and a boy…
Striker stared at you and it seemed like you noticed his snake stare because you stopped for a moment, again he could see in your beautiful eyes how nervous you got so soon when you saw him, Striker let out a small laugh at this.
Loves a girl
Striker loved the effect he had on you, it would be so easy to go after you, he couldn't wait for the moment when he could talk to you and finally win you over. So as soon as you finished singing your performance, Striker was already behind you, until he was stopped by Hal.
"So, I guess you're going after my niece, right Striker?"
"There is a problem with that?"
"Not at all, son, I can understand why she captured your attention so much. I only warn you one thing, girls like her are very difficult to conquer, I tell you from my own experience; I had to do a lot for Carmen to even accept me on the first date." Believe me when I tell you that it is much easier to kill a hellish pig than to be with one of them."
"Please, Hal, I don't think she's that difficult."
"I'm just telling you to prepare yourself, son. This could be one of the most difficult duels you've ever had."
Striker simply rolled his eyes to the side and walked in your direction before he was interrupted by Hal again.
"Please, Striker, be good to my niece. She really is a good girl."
The rattlesnake demon hesitated for a moment but in the end, he gave a sigh and raised his hat in respect, he was lucky that Hal is a good man to do that.
In the end, Striker walked over to where you were, who seemed to be talking to the musicians who accompanied you in your performance, and waited until they left to talk to you.
You and him could probably make a wonderful duet together.

Mosey On with the Mojave Desert Tortoise
Also known as the California desert tortoise, or more simply the desert tortoise, Gopherus agassizii is one of the few tortoise species native to North America. As its name implies, it is found only in the Mojave and Sonoroan deserts, from northern Mexico into the southwestern United States; there it is the state reptile of California and Nevada. Their habitat consists mainly of of desert scrub, where temperatures can reach over 60 °C (140 °F); however, in the southern reaches of its range, the desert tortoise can also be found in tropical deciduous forests.
To beat the heat, G. agassizii digs burrows where they can rest when its too hot or too cold to forage, and where they can aestivate during the hottest months of the summer and hibernate in the winter. These burrows can be quite extensive, reaching 10 m (32 ft) long, and up to 25 tortoises may share the same burrow. Individuals will often dig out several burrows in their territory, which can range anywhere from 3 to 25 hectares (7 to 61 acres). Many of these burrows will also become homes for other animals, including rattlesnakes, gila monsters, squirrels, burrowing owls, and quail.
Like all tortoises, the Mojave desert tortoise is herbivorous. Most of its food is grass, but due to the limited choice in the desert they may also consume wildflowers, shrubs, and cacti-- both fruits and new growth. Due to their hard shells, this species has few predators as adults, but hatchlings are vulnerable to foxes, coyotes, birds of prey, and gila monsters.
Very little rain falls in the desert, and so the desert tortoise is well adapted to do without; the species stores up to 40% of its body weight in water in its bladder, to be absorbed later. Individuals will also dig shallow 'watering holes' in the ground, to be visited after rainfall. G. agassizii also gets much of its water content from its diet, and can go up to a year without drinking.
Desert tortoises typically mate in the spring, from March to May, though mating can continue until autumn. Males seek out and fight each other for access to females, typically by ramming each other or attempting to flip each other over. However, this species is also one of the few known to engage in homosexual activity, particularly between males. Because this is not a species that mates for life, or maintains strict social hierarchies, the purposes of this intercourse is unknown.
Females can store sperm for up to eighteen months, and typically lay their eggs in the following year from May to July in clutches of 3 to 8. These eggs are laid in a deep nest dug into the ground, and take 90 to 135 days to hatch. Young emerge in the fall, and receive no parental care. If they survive, individuals may take between 10 to 16 years to become fully mature, and can live to be 80 years old.
Desert tortoises are well adapted to blend into their environments. The shell is typically a brown or dull yellow, while the body is tan or dusty grey. There is little difference between males and females, save that males are slightly bigger and have a concave plastron (lower shell) to accommodate mounting onto a female. The species is medium sized, ranging between 11 to 23 kg (24.23 to 50.66 lb) in weight and 25 to 36 cm (10 to 14 in) in length.
Conservation status: The IUCN has ranked the Mojave desert tortoise as Critically Endangered. Their primary threats include habitat fragmentation and loss, predation by feral dogs, and road mortality. The population is estimated to have declined by 90% since the 1980s. However, conservation programs are being implemented to preserve critical habitat, and several zoos and conservancies have captive breeding programs for the species.

Miracle Boxes - The True Generation
These are the second iteration of the Miracle Boxes, and the generation that lasted the longest, stretching out for several thousand years. The Miraculouses within these boxes are very similar to the generation before, save for many kwamis of the Mage Box being divided out among the other boxes of the world, and the Mage Box being hidden away as the Secret Box.
During this time kwamis were free to chose their own holders, and spent more time out in the world than in their Miracle Boxes. Guardians were protectors of kwamis in their dormant state, but were not wardens of them. Kwamis would often travel far from their boxes and across the world, acting as protectors where they felt they were needed.

Hissing Cockroach (Gromphadorhina portentosa)
Distribution: Native only to the island of Madagascar, to the east of the African continent.
Habitat: Prefer dark, moist environments; in the wild, often found inside rotting logs.
Diet: Opportunistic; in natural environments, they usually feed on ripened fruit that have fallen on the forest floor. In captivity, they can feed on dry, processed pet food and various fruits.
Description: Hissing cockroaches have earned their common name from a hiss-like sound they produce to ward off potential predators. Often compared to the sound of a rainstick or rattlesnake, these insects hiss by forcefully expelling air from specialized openings on their abdomen. Apart from scaring off predators, males may also hiss to attract females and to challenge other males.
Due to their ease of care and easygoing nature, hissing cockroaches are popular in laboratories, classrooms and as pets. Due to their tropical environment, their enclosures must be kept warm, and they have to be given ample shelters to hide during the day, as this species dark habitats. In captivity, they can live up to five years.

Around the time Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were being released, my friends and I were designing a theoretical Pokémon game, as every group of young Pokémon nerds inevitably does. I was not very involved in the making of this theoretical game, but I did love to listen to the ideas the others had and had a few ideas of my own.
So, one of the things that was decided early on was that gyms had been a very standard concept and that we wanted to break away from that. The idea was to create gyms that had *two* types rather than the standard one. After some debate about how this would work, the rules were established: two types are assigned to a gym leader. The gym leader's Pokémon will possess one of the two types, and their final Pokemon (often called "the ace Pokémon) will have both of the chosen types. Say this gym leader was Bug/Rock. They could have a team that was Gigalith (Rock), Shedinja (Bug/Ghost) and their ace, Crustle (Bug/Rock). We also inserted ourselves into the game as gym leaders, to champion our new system.
Here's where things get speculative. I don't clearly remember any of this, and I won't bore you with listing which parts are guesses. I'll just present it as a cohesive whole, and then on my deathbed while my life is flashing before my eyes I'll finally remember what I lied to you about.
Our region was based on the United States, but also some of the South Amercas too, because we thought some areas had unfairly been skipped over in Black and White. As denizens of the northmost point of the Midwestern region of the U.S., we thought our wintery homeland had not been represented as well as we would like. The one who was unofficially the director of this game had declared himself the representative for this region, as an Ice/Steel gym leader. He would be one of the final gym leaders and provide a lot of help navigating this snowy area by showing the player how to use a snowmobile (look it up if you aren't familiar, it's a staple of life there). I don't actually remember his ace Pokémon, as all the ace Pokémon the self-insert gym leaders used were also designed by us.
We also thought the southern half of the U.S. had barely been used as a reference and planned to use it as a stage for the Ghost/Fire type gym leader, a New-Orleans/Everglades-inspired haunted swamp. His ace Pokémon was Marshimmer, the Fire/Ghost type. His character was going to be chaotic and gleeful.
I don't remember much about our plans for my third friend. He was the artist of the group, and had made some concept art. There isn't a single chance his first type was Fairy, he loved the type since it had come out.
That brings us to my character. I was told by the "director" that I had been chosen to be a Water/Psychic gym leader, and be one of the player's first few big victories. I was probably the second or third gym leader. After we discussed my character, he would be a marine biologist living in a tropical, sunny area. His ace Pokemon was Frillgash, a shark Pokémon. I wanted him to teleport to the player's location and give the exposition for certain things, like the "This tree looks like it could be CUT down!" dialogue, but I don't think our "director" was very convinced by my suggestion.
The Legendary Pokémon were based on the concept of desert and oasis. The desert Pokémon was a large rattlesnake, a Ground-type for sure, but I believe we were trying to avoid Dragon-type box legendaries. My guess for the second type would be Poison. Its signature move was a ground-type move that changed the weather to sandstorm. The oasis-themed Legendary Pokémon was a Water/Grass-type that was based on river snakes. This pair also drew inspiration from myths, probably the horned serpent of the Native Americans and the feathered serpent of the South American cultures.

Spine-tingling
From flashing eyespots to irritating hairs, the defences butterflies, moths and their caterpillars use to protect themselves from predators don’t typically cause us serious harm. Among the few exceptions are caterpillars in the South American genus Lonomia. Usually encountered when resting in groups, these caterpillars’ spines release a potent haemotoxic venom, like that of vipers and rattlesnakes, which can cause internal bleeding and disrupt blood coagulation, sometimes fatally. So far, envenomations have been linked to only two species, Lonomia obliqua and L. achelous, but identifying them can be tricky, and two others (L. orientoandensis, pictured left, and L. casanarensis, right) are known to cause similar reactions in rats. A recent field and taxonomic study identified 60 Lonomia species, seven of which are likely to cause severe symptoms. The only currently available antivenom, directed against L. obliqua, is broadly effective, yet recognising this greater diversity could help further improve treatments.

Do you have any headcanons for the designs of the tribes that aren’t part of the canon designs?
I have quite a few, here are just some features!:
Seawings: Depending on what variant they are, Seawing colors can vary wildly, tropical fish colors, colors as dark as even a Nightwing, normal Seawing colors, etc.!
Mudwings: I think Mudwings do look pretty similar to Canon but I like to think they can be swampy green and have a lot of bumps like crocodiles and alligators! Also ram horns!
Sandwings: WHERE DO I START!!! Some Sandwings with basically a rattlesnake tail inside their barb, frills act more like hair, sclera colors changing from black to white based on how sunny and hot their part of the desert is, Sandwing wing patterns varying depending on family ( for example, the Jerboa’s have triangles of a certain color which isn’t entirely unique to them but it mostly is ), Most Sandwings having some form of freckling, etc!
Skywings: I think Skywings generally look the same in terms of Midland Skywings to canon, but highland Skywings are definitely the brightest in color, thinner, more scrawny legs and larger wings, darkly colored sclera, etc. Lowland Skywings are more muted in color and more bulkly, smallest wings and tend to resemble a mix of Mudwings, Sandwings, and Skywings. I also like to think that Firescales have blue veins, Normal Skywings have red fiery veins, royalty as golden veins and Fireless Skywings have pale orange or brown colored veins. Also in the official art I think skywings don’t have their wing membranes attached to their stomach like Icewings but I like to think that they do, basically Skywings, Seawings, Nightwings, and Sandwings all have wing membranes attached to their stomachs whole Icewings, Mudwings, Rainwings, Leafwings, Hivewings and Silkwings don’t because they don’t fly/swim as much and it allows for more needed mobility.
Icewings: Not exactly fur but I like to think their scales stand on edge and they have extra scale layers to make it resemble as spiky fur. Like Sandwings the color of their sclera depends on how sunny and how much snow there is, Tundra Icewings tend to have black sclera while Taiga Icewings tend to have white sclera.
Rainwings: BIGGER FRILLS DEPENDING ON AGE!! Shorter horns that resemble more like classic devil horns.
Nightwings: Wings can have planets and constellations and galaxies and stuff on them not just stars, Bat Nightwings and Pantalan Nightwings have black sclera but Pyrrhian Nightwings have white sclera. Nightwings also have that thing Toothless has on his tail like those little bat like wing frills on the tail I love that so much
Hivewings: Exclusively black scelera, besides black, orange and yellow scales, red, teal, green and blue are also possible but more rare. Hivewings have a ton of different patterns where their black scales appear ( ink blotches like Cricket or diamonds like Wasp ) basically just are an indicator of a Hivewings lineage and they used to be generally unique in the early Hivewing days but they’re about as accurate as last names nowdays, not a true indicator of relation unless very unique.
Silkwings: Horns that curl at the tip, claws extra good for climbing and sensing things through their claws, etc. i also like to think that while Hivewings have that sharp horn in the middle of their snout Silkwings have this tiny little bump from their Beetlewing heritage that kinda resembles a prominent nose bridge on humans.
Leafwings: They can basically be any color a tree or plant can be, but like the more rare or colorful colors are only accents and never the main color. A leafwings main color is usually green or brown. Leafwings also 100% have antlers and they grow larger and larger with age until they need to be cut because they are so big. Also, Sapwings have a little leaf at the end of their tail, Poisonwings have a leaf shaped thing but it kinda coils upward like a little tornado and Petalwings have two flower shaped things at the end of their tail which resemble the shape of a hammer.

ETERNAL ECHOES
I
Toward dark blue skies, endlessly, Where topaz seas shimmer bright, In your evening, blooms ecstasy - The lilies, pills of pure delight.
In our age where plants must toil, Lilies drink blue distaste divine, From your religious prose, they'll coil, Fleur-de-lys, for bards to twine.
Lilies, lilies, none in view, Yet in your verse, sleeves of sin, Soft-footed women, pure as dew, White flowers shiver within.
Always, dear man, when you bathe, Your shirt with yellow 'neath your arm, Swelling in the breeze, and wave, Above forget-me-nots, the harm.
Love comes to you in lilac's guise, Wild violets too, nymphs' delight, Sugary spittle on lips, belies, Dark passions on a moonlit night.
II
Oh, Poets, imagine you possessed Roses, crimson Roses, blooming bright, Adorning laurel stems, at their best, With thousand octaves swelling in delight!
If Banville could make them snow, Tainted red, swirling, in a frenzy, Blackening the eyes of those who show Ill-disposed interpretations, not friendly!
In your forests and in meadows so calm, Oh, peaceful photographers, Flora thrives, Decanters' stoppers no different in charm, Than varied veggies with cross-grained lives!
Phthisical and absurd, they seem to be, Navigated by basset-hounds at dusk, After frightening drawings we see, Of lotuses or sunflowers blue, so brusque!
Pink prints and holy pictures we behold, For young girls making their communion, Asoka Ode agrees with Loretto's window old, Heavy vivid butterflies dung on daisy's union!
Old greenery and galloons, fancy-flowers, Vegetable biscuits of yore's drawing-rooms, For cockchafers, not rattlesnakes, like powers, Pulling vegetable dolls with colors, like in cartoons!
Grandville would have put them round the margins, To suck in colors from ill-natured stars, Drooling from your shepherd's pipes, in wondrous fashions, Creating priceless glucoses, like fried eggs in hold hats, so bizarre!
Lilies, Asokas, lilacs, and roses, in a pile, Inspirations for poets, like me, all the while!
III
white Hunter, running sockingless Across the panic Pastures, Can you not, ought you not To know your botany a little? I'm afraid you'd make succeed, To russet Crickets, Cantharides, And Rio golds to blues of Rhine, - In short, to Norways, Floridas: But, My dear Chap, Art does not consist now, - it's the truth, - in allowing To the astonishing Eucalyptus boa-constrictors a hexameter long; There now!... As if Mahogany Served only, even in our Guianas, As helter-skelters for monkeys, Among the heavy vertigo of the lianas! - In short, is a Flower, Rosemary Or Lily, dead or alive, worth The excrement of one sea-bird? Is it worth a solitary candle-drip? - And I mean what I say! You, even sitting over there, in a Bamboo hut, - with the shutters Closed, and brown Persian rugs for hangings, - You would scrawl blossoms Worthy of extravagant Oise!... - Poet ! these are reasonnings No less absurd than arrogant!...
IV
Speak not of pampas in the spring, Black with terrible revolts and strife, But of tobacco, cotton trees that sing, Exotic harvests, a fruitful life.
Say, white face, tanned by Phoebus' rays, How many dollars Pedro Velasquez earns, Of Habana, a city that displays, Excrement covering Sorrento's seas in turns.
Where swans go in thousands to roam, Let your lines campaign, oh poet bold, For clearing mangrove swamps, a home To pools and water-snakes so cold.
Your quatrain plunges into bloody thickets, And returns with subjects great and grand, White sugar, bronchial lozenges, and rubbers, tickets To the land of plenty, a fruitful land.
Tell us, oh hunter, if the yellownesses Of snow peaks near the tropics, hide Insects that lay many eggs or microscopic lichens, And scented madder plants, two or three, provide.
Nature in trousers may cause them to bloom, For our armies, strong and brave, On the outskirts of the Sleeping Wood, assume Flowers, with snouts, drip golden pomades on buffaloes' cave.
Find in wild meadows, where the bluegrass shivers, The silver of downy growths, Calyxes full of fiery eggs, livers Cooking among the essential oils.
Find downy thistles whose wool, Ten asses with glaring eyes, labor to spin, Flowers that are chairs, a beautiful tool, And gem-like tonsils close to pale ovaries within.
Find flowers in coal-black seams, Almost like stones, so marvelous and bright, Close to their hard pale ovaries in dreams, Bearing gemlike tonsils, shining in light.
Serve us, oh stuffer, on a vermilion plate, Stews of syrupy lilies, a delicacy divine, To corrode our German-silver spoons, a fate Worthy of kings, in a color so fine.

Poet's Notes:
Firstly, analyzing the poem from the perspective of a poet, I would observe that it is a complex piece with vibrant language and a robust structure. The thematic clusters around nature, colors, and the exploration of human passions are presented with a combination of ordinary and extraordinary imagery. The author makes use of creative metaphorical devices, intertwining nature and human experiences in a unique way.
The piece exhibits a considerable degree of intertextuality, referencing multiple literary figures and creations, which enriches the reading experience by providing additional layers of meaning. The poem also appears to take a critical look at artistic endeavors and societal expectations, seen in lines like "Phthisical and absurd, they seem to be."
Furthermore, the author creates juxtapositions between beautiful, appealing images and harsh, distasteful ones. This could be interpreted as a commentary on the paradoxes of life, with its mixture of pleasure and pain, beauty and ugliness.
From a Jungian perspective, this poem could be analyzed using the concepts of the collective unconscious and archetypes. Many of the images used - like lilies, roses, the evening, moonlit night, hunters - can be seen as archetypal symbols that resonate with universal human experiences.
The poem explores the interplay between the conscious and the unconscious mind. For instance, the verse "Dark passions on a moonlit night" could be read as an acknowledgment of the shadow archetype, the darker, unconscious aspects of the personality that are often repressed.
Moreover, the poem explores the dichotomy between order and chaos, symbolized by the cultivated flowers and the wild forest. This dichotomy could be seen as a representation of the tension between the ego and the unconscious.
The use of botanical metaphors throughout the poem might be seen as a manifestation of the Anima/Animus archetype, representing the feminine principle within the masculine unconscious, or vice versa. The presence of female figures such as nymphs and "Soft-footed women, pure as dew" would support this interpretation.
Finally, the closing lines of the poem, with the "corrode our German-silver spoons," suggests an ultimate dissolution or transformation, akin to the Jungian process of individuation, where one achieves a harmonious balance between all aspects of the psyche.

Note
may I babble on about a species/subspecies of nightfury that comes not from the archipelagos but rather America-ish because somehow America/Australia has the meaner-looking deadly animals?
their named initially in Latin for "Mega fury" < but decided to change it up to "Tempest Fury" for like a tropical storm and do have an on-key intelligence similar to humans to understand most things but do not understand wording correctly or math (As I cannot understand Algebra or anything with triple digits as a side fun fact.) so MTF;
they have posable digits and 5 per each front limb but four on the back- the species does have; Sexual Dimorphism - whereas the Females are more prominent and meaner than the males and have more features such as elongated nubs, fins, wings, and retractable teeth to carry their young like alligators/crocs, Males, on the other hand, are slightly more flashy in the springs and summers with barbels, smaller and more agile looking and typically remain solitary with rare cases of family units living together.
their colors range from green to purple but are normally darker colored to blend in with their mountain-like-range habitat and are night hunters but switch to day hunting during the spring through fall (given that is when they reproduce) and have markings that never really look identical but can look almost identical. but generally elsewise look like night furies with more to fewer details and have generally deeper vocals and make more vocal sounds similar to cats and tigers however will only use a certain amount to chat with humans (similar to cats again.)
their life expectancy is at least 300 years (referencing that one species of turtle. cough cough Giant Tortoise) and a healthy weight of 2 tons in females and the same equalized to an elephant, babies hatch from eggs that need to be incubated for 6 months after being laid and are born deaf and blind (referencing off puppies) and are meant to be chubby as they are fed a puree diet for the first couple of weeks of their life of fish, honeycomb, and wild fruits/vegetables. after that, it's fish and fruits/vegetables. but however they can eat eels similarly to typhoomerangs in the series and are mostly opportunistic when it comes to food/eating.
originally from THW entry path in the area of America and or Australia they live in burrows dug into pure stone to keep in the heat, they have the signature ''plasma blasts'' (however it cannot be purple.) and NF-cloaking skill however as a defense mechanism they have a spike that comes from the tip of their tailfin which does not have a split between the fin as it is inverted barbed so it hurts more to tug it out then being stabbed with it however it has its own venom similarly to rattlers (diamondback rattlesnakes.)
what do you think? :D
oh and for size scaling using hiccup's 6ft here, Males are normally 17ft to 18ft tall (on the assumption that toothless is 15ft.) and females range from 19ft to 23ft total. (same length for height. and double that for wing length-)
They sound very interesting~!
I like em!
