weve been hit by a very strong typhoon/hurricane and our government is currently missing in action. this isnt a one-off. theyve done this time and time again. the president is nowhere to be found, but its not because the flood washed him away. its because he chooses not to help at all.
if you see any donation drives donating to the philippine government then i beg of you not to donate. instead, donate to the rescue teams, medics, aerial search teams, and to the victims of typhoon Ulysses.

This is what's currently happening in Cagayan Valley, Philippines right now. This is caused by the previous typhoon Ulysses. The whole place is submerged in water. People are screaming for help, drowning, and some already died due to electrocution. And we need your help to spread awareness because there's only little to no media coverage at all.

If you can donate, here's a link to different donation drives and relief ops for Cagayan.

a mere 10 days after the Philippines was hit by strongest tropical cyclone Typhoon Rolly, we get hit again by Typhoon Ulysses
Tumblr media
yesterday, November 12, 2020, Central Luzon was hit by Typhoon Ulysses (international name Vamco). it hit similar places that were hit by Typhoon Rolly, giving citizens no rest before bombarding them again with strong rains and strong winds.
typhoon Ulysses hit the National Capital Region of the Philippines, a place that has over 12 million residents. several cities were flooded, countless families stranded on the roofs of their homes.
in my own city, Marikina, the water level of Marikina River exceeded the water level of Typhoon Ondoy (international name Ketsana), bringing the decade old trauma of natural disaster back at our doorstep.
Tumblr media
how can you help?
the first way is through monetary donations. you can find many donation drives on Twitter by searching through the hashtag #UlyssesPH or #UlyssesPHAid. Here is one thread in particular by CNN Philippines listing down different donation drives
Tumblr media
https://twitter.com/cnnphilippines/status/1326846006256824321?s=19
the second way you can help is by giving this post a reblog. if you cant donate, maybe you can bring this post to people who can.
the third way is to not look away. typhoons are getting stronger due to warming oceans, and the Philippines gets hit by an average of 8 to 9 typhoons per year. we feel the effects of climate change intimately and disastrously, all the while a pandemic continues to rage on. dont look away.
thank you for reading. stay healthy and safe.

Currently, CAGAYAN PROVINCE OF THE PHILIPPINES IS STILL SUBMERGED IN FLOOD after Typhoon Ulysses hit the country two days ago (November 11, 2020). The floodwater in certain areas is reported to have reached at least 15 feet deep.
If you have money to spare, please consider donating to help rescue Filipinos in need and for relief operations.
Here are donation links to Kaya Natin PH and Philippine Red Cross (both accept donations through Paypal). And here is a Twitter thread of donation drives and the RescuePH carrd.

Hello. Philippines has suffered through another storm, after going through the world's strongest typhoon just days ago, and left not only destroyed livelihood and properties but has also ended numerous lives. This happening in the middle of a fucking pandemic.
#CagayanNeedsHelp is currently trending in twt to help spread news to the national government, rescuers, and to those whose families are in the region that might be affected. Electric and communication lines are down and rescue is on going but slow. They have dispatched rescue teams across the region but it isn't enough. The flood has submerged an entire city about 15 meters deep. People have resorted to wait for help on their roofs. There are children, senior citizens, PWDs, and those who suffers from sickness, stuck for 3 days now with no food and water, hoping to be rescued.
People have retweeted and shared video clips, pictures, and even audio clips of people shouting for help in the dark. There are those who died drowning and getting electrocuted. Having no food and water is making it worse. Seeing these in the safety of my home makes me feel guilty of not being able to do anything. Hearing them cry for help and I could only do so much as help spread news and pray for them. We've raised donation drives for now but we still need to rescue a region.
I ask of you to help us spread awareness of what is currently happening in the Philippines.

Right now, this is the only donation drive from the govt I would trust.

📣ABS CBN FOUNDATION
Tumblr media
📣RED CROSS PHILIPPINES
📣PHILIPPINE ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY (PAWS)
📣University of Sto. Tomas has launched #TulongTomasino for in-kind donations.
Tumblr media
📣University of the Philippines Los Banos #UPLBAgapay

📣#FeedPHBabies
Donated relief goods are not so baby-friendly. Through this, we can give food, hygiene essentials, and vitamins appropriate for the babies.
📣For a more organized list of emergency hotlines and donation drives from NGOs and student organizations, here is the RescuePH carrd for your reference.
❗Let us also be vigilant with the recipients of our donations. I heard news of scammers trying to disguise as donation drives to be able to steal money. ❗

I was inspired by @dailyromans to make my own version of Filipino Sides sooo here are my faves as Pinoys!! 💛
Also since you’re already here, please consider donating to the victims of Typhoon Rolly and Typhoon Ulysses! The Philippines was hit by four typhoons already this month, so donations will really help those who were affected.
There are some links below that you can donate to, if you can. And if not, just reblogging/spreading the word would be very much appreciated!

Send help.
Tumblr media
Hello there.
I apologize if this post is not my regular content, but I would just like to have a few moments of your time.
You may have heard the news about typhoons making landfall across the Philippines - causing untold destruction that has lead to loss of livelihood, property, and life in recent times. As we speak, there are still plenty of people braving the floods and sleeping on the roofs of their homes, waiting to be rescued. These people, especially in the far-flung provinces such as Cagayan, were caught off-guard due to information blackout that was only exacerbated by the shutting down of a major broadcasting company. All of these are happening in the middle of a pandemic that we are still struggling to shake off.
For the time being, I am currently holding a donation drive. I will be selling prints of my artworks, starting with my most recent art book. All proceeds from sales will be donated to Kaya Natin! Movement, a non-profit organization currently making efforts in post-disaster relief in light of the recent catastrophic events. The donations will be used to fund relief efforts in order to help the victims of these typhoons.
The book is currently available on Blurb, which is recommended for those who are based internationally. But if you live in the Philippines or would like a signed copy, then the Limited Edition is for you. It is currently sold out, but you can pre-order for the next batch of printing.
Or if you would like to donate without ordering my book, you can do so by donating to Kaya Natin! Movement through the link below.
Thank you very much.

Donation Commissions! (UlyssesPH)
[Please reblog!]
Edit: it's at 10/10 slots as of 4:00 PM PST. Thanks guys!
Edit: I’m reopening 5 more slots at 8:00 PM PST :>
Hey guys! Im currently doing a donation commissions for #UlyssesPH! My country has been hit by consecutive typhoons in a span of weeks. This, coupled with a really shitty government, has led to a lot of families not being ready for the latest typhoon, leaving them nothing but the clothes on their backs.
I can't find any donation posts on tumblr so I'll link my twitter thread of the donation drives instead.
If you don't like my art, there are lots of PH artists doing the same thing under the same hashtag. Regardless, donations are highly appreciated.
Reblogs are incredibly appreciated, thank you!

Typhoon Ulysses PH Relief Drive
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello people, it’s me again, ancient_moonshine on ao3. Thanks to you and your generous donations, my friends and I were able to start our own charity drive which primarily seeks to help pandemic-affected jeepney drivers and their families. :D We’re currently aiding 9 jeepney operator and drivers’ associations within Metro Manila, with 637 members total. To date, DIWA has set up four community gardens for four different jeepney operators and drivers’ associations, as well as provided some of the drivers’ children with gadgets and internet for distance learning purposes. Through the Rotary Club, we’ve also coordinated with the Department of Health to provide them with maintenance medicines, and Rebisco food company to give them food packages. In the aftermath of Typhoon Rolly, we’ve also helped out evacuees from Guinobatan, Albay, by providing them with water after lahar buried their homes.  Check us out at facebook.com/Diwa Uplifts. However, I have to ask for your help again. I’m sure people have heard about the terrible flooding Typhoon Ulysses caused in the Philippines [international name: Vamco], right at the heels of Typhoon Rolly [international name: Goni]. Our current beneficiaries are drivers belonging to the San Mateo Maly-Philcoa Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association based in San Mateo, Rizal City, and the Tumana-Balara Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association in Balara, Quezon City. The drivers of both JODAs live in Rizal and Marikina, the worst-affected cities in Metro Manila, and many of them wound up with their homes and belongings submerged in floodwaters. These people are now staying in evacuation centers, or living in their jeepneys in their terminals while they fix up the damage to their homes and try to salvage their belongings. I will spare you the images because they’re honestly extremely upsetting, but here are some links to news sites for you to see how bad the damage is:  https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1359823/typhoon-ulysses-triggers-worst-floods-in-metro-manila-in-years
https://www.cnnphilippines.com/news/2020/11/13/Marikina-state-of-calamity-Typhoon-Ulysses.html https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/12/asia/typhoon-vamco-philippines-intl/index.html
https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/multimedia/photo/11/12/20/massive-flooding-in-san-mateo-rizal At the rate deforestation and climate change are going, and given their locations [quarrying and deforestation in nearby mountains and watersheds basically sent water rushing down their slopes and rivers swelling because there were no trees left to absorb it] the problem our beneficiaries are currently facing stands to be a recurrent one. To make matters worse, the quarantine [longest in the world] and the jeepney modernization program have sapped their sources of income dry. Hence, our drive hopes to provide them emergency relief kits and go bags, to give them resources they might not otherwise be able to afford, just in case another typhoon sweeps across Metro Manila. [and there stands to be at least 4 more, this year alone]. We pray they don’t need them anymore, but just in case...  Unfortunately, donor fatigue is a thing, and honestly local resources have been sapped dry [Ulysses did not affect Metro Manila alone, it also hit Cagayan, Pampanga, Aurora, practically the entirety of Luzon]. So this is us, the members of DIWA, asking the international community for help. So far a rough estimate of the minimum that our grab bag will cost [food, toiletries, and meds excluded given we hope to get those via donations in kind] are the following: GRAB BAG COSTING PhP110  - 1 clear bag PhP155  - solar flashlights PhP4.36  - 1 whistle   PhP14 - 1 roll of tissue Per bag cost: PhP283.36 Total: San Mateo Maly-Philcoa JODA - 50 members x PhP283.36 = PhP14,168 ; roughly USD 294.45  [USD 1= PhP 48. 28] Tumana-Balara JODA - 62 members x  PhP283.36 = PhP17,568.32; roughly USD 363.88 *If solar lamps only for Tumana-Balara JODA [depending on our budget, Marikina LGU is comparatively experienced at disaster-preparedness, so priority for the kits is San Mateo]: 62 members x P155 =  PhP9,610 [roughly USD199.04] For international donors, our Paypal account is [email protected]. You may find a link to our transparency sheet in the above image, as well as links to our official socmed accounts.  Please send me a PM if you wish to donate, and a screenshot of your donation. Unfortunately gifts are closed for the moment since I still have a backlog, but even a simple share means the world to us. ;___; Thank you so much for your support, and may we see better times ahead.  Thank you so much. <3
