Bi-Weekly Update - 3/8/21
hello and happy March!
work continues, as it ever does. I ran into a few delays due to some real life stuff that kept me away from my computer and internet access for a bit, but we've come out the other side of that for now and things have returned to some semblance of normal.
I feel a little like a broken record because there's not much to say other than "I'm working on it", and not much else to do except keep working on it until it's done. I really, really want it to be done. I'm getting closer.
That's all I've got for you this week. I'm gonna get back to work so I can give a more satisfying answer as soon as possible 🤞 I hope you all have a fantastic week, and I'll see you next time! 💙

Update (04/15/24)
What I'm Into Now
BSD (Characters: Dazai Osamu, Nakajima Atsushi)
JJK (Characters: Gojo Satoru, Getou Suguru)
Progress Update
JJK x BSD: Not much to report, didn't have much time to write
Sneak Peek
JJK x BSD: "'Let me guess,' Atsushi says, making the man’s brows raise beneath his blindfold, 'you’re either going to kill me or torture me until you get what you want.' The man’s face goes smooth. Atsushi flexes his hands behind his back, his claws just beneath his skin and his fangs aching within his teeth. 'You’re welcome to try.'"
Fic Recs
As finals season comes into full swing, I find myself too exhausted and without any free time to write (except for the time I hammered out 1.5k words in two sittings. But that doesn't count). There won't be much activity here for the next couple of weeks. I'm also looking at jobs for the summer so please wish me luck! See you next time!

(Yes, I made a special header that doesn’t relate to TFS’s emblems because today is Friday the 13th. XD)
Progress Update: January 13th 2023
TFS: Book One Masterpost (Reblogs are appreciated!) | TFS Patreon
Hi Everyone!
I hope you’re doing well 💚
It’s extremely fitting to have a weekly update on one of the Friday 13ths within this year given TFS’s slow-build horror themes and the total number of chapters in Book One. That was an intentional choice! This number is sometimes associated with creepy things from the eerie clock in the Haunted Mansion attractions to the Friday the 13th slasher series and so on. 🔪🐈⬛
It’s been just over a week since Book One’s release. I’m so grateful for all of your support during the wait and now that you all finally have a chance to experience the full story. TFS: Book One is live on all available platforms. I was always curious, possibly a bit anxious, about how the different stores would work, like if Steam would let it unlock earlier or later than let’s say the Google Play Store offering it. (I realized that they probably all wouldn’t unlock at a synchronized time.) It’s well past the release date and everything went smoothly!
I’m still kind of taking things in right now after waiting and hoping. TFS made its debut to the public in June 2021 with the release of the first demo (containing the first three chapters). I submitted Book One on June 17th 2022, and then it was a matter of being patient for the Hosted Games queue until January 5th 2023. We all waited together for only 18 months.
I hope to keep up this rigorous pace with your continued support.
To see Book One released to the public is both exciting and nerve-wracking, so I’ve been taking a little break from writing on Book Two during the release until everything sinks in before shifting back to prepping for it. That being said, I am eagerly working on Patreon content. Some of you may have seen January’s Content Schedule, if not you can use the link to the page. I’ve been patiently waiting to share so many ideas on there that it’s been fun deciding the topics.
Aside from processing my ~emotions~, I’ll be working on future content, replying to Patreon emails about character portraits, answering questions, and, of course, continuing to prep for Book Two’s chapters. (The sheer amount of variables from Book One means I made a spreadsheet, lol. 📊 You might have a guess about the scope if you’ve finished a playthrough, or you will experience the butterfly effect in the future. Each chapter gets its own sheet of variables I can call-on or trigger.)
Again, a huge thank you to each of you who found TFS and stayed with me through this process! A gentle reminder about please leaving a review/rating, if you’re enjoying the game, but most importantly, I’m wishing you all the very best! 🥰

September Check-In
WoW another month has passed already... Is time getting faster or my sense of impending end is just getting stronger...
ANYWAY, existential dread aside... August kinda felt like a mix bad. I did do things, but many days I felt like I didn't do enough (prob that dread again - also injury yay). So let's get into it!
Long post ahead again:
Recap of last month's progress
Recap of last week's stuff
Other IF stuff done
Other IF events
Plan for September
- _ -
The plan for the past month was to:
play more IF: ✅, see reviews in @manonamora-if-reviews
whip out something for the Single Choice Jam: ✅ The Dinner*
fix the website: ✅, new and improved*
write for a WIP: 😐not for a WIP but Goncharov Escapes! was remastered (shelved!), and currently working on DOL-OS.
add to the SG guide: ❌, I have a list though
code TTATEH: ❌, MelS isn't done with the edits (long shot).
*still kind of a WIP
I did kind of predict I wouldn't be able to write much in new content...
- _ -
So what about this week:
Tumblr media
DOL-OS has been the main think I've been working on this week. And quite a bit of effort has been dumped in there. Since last week progress update:
the translation has been fully completed, and added to the game files (not all is properly coded)
I added some keyboard QoL for the starting puzzle
the UI re-design 75% complete (like coded complete) <- this is taking so freaking long, but it's worth it
I corrected some bugs (padlock, links)
I've been thinking in more details how the added content would look like (text mainly) and how much writing would be needed (a few thousands, I'd wager).
Obviously, I am not done with the project, but I am getting closer. The current hurdle is the finishing the UI-redesign: I really want things to be pristine in terms of visual quality and that requires a lot of testing and detail change. I have a few minor block of passages left and the booting screen to fix, before I can focus on the final beat of the game (not much UI-wise, more regular coding).
This final part will take quite a bit of time as well, because it too requires a bunch of testing (and there's a few accessibility concerns I need to take care of...). I'm confident it won't be too difficult, just... tedious.
But I really want to do a good job with this remaster, adding all the stuff I couldn't the first time before of time constraint (fun fact: DOL-OS was completed in a month...) and coding capabilities (I learned a ton since). I know people really enjoyed it the first time around, but I know it can be even better. Like it should really have that first-place vibe it deserves :P
I am hoping to be done by next weekend, but depending on how polish I can make it, I might need an extra week on top of it. (This would track: 4-ish weeks to make the OG version, 4-ish weeks to remaster it...).
In the meantime, I might post a few screenshots of the redesign and show it in comparison to the current version.
Tumblr media
Some of you have noticed the blog has kinda disappeared. It's not gone, just... password locked. The notifications have been run over a bit by bots, the inbox received a few impatient guests, and it's in need of a good cleaning anyway.
I still want to work on the project (I have so many plans), but since writing anything for it has seemed impossible for the past months, I needed a cleaner break from it.
This project is not over, or abandoned. I kind of see it as my magnum opus (because of the sheer size it should have at the end). But because of this, I've realised I need to plan and re-plan things around the project more carefully. And that includes the blog and its content (original or reblogged). I probably should have made a post, huh... but then again, I always to things on a whim :P
Until things have calmed down, it will stay locked. The game, however, is still available to play.
Tumblr media
MelS has been doing his best with progress, but lots of IRL work ahead of him, so he's been pacing himself and write when he can. He's kind of sad our hope to wrap up the game by Halloween probably won't happen, but he's trying his best to finish it as soon as possible!
Slightly related: one ending of the game has been written :P (MelS got tired of writing variation, so to do something new he wrote a bit on the last chapter).
Tumblr media
Over at @manonamora-if-reviews, I finished reviewing all Single Choice entries. It was loads of fun to see how people interpreted the restrictions. The Jam was even mentioned on Emily Short's blog (patron saint of IF)!
Also in the reviewing department, I'm taking a crack at the Goncharov jam. I had reviewed a few already, but I thought this might be a good time to tackle on the rest! I think I am about half with them. It's nice to get back into the Gonch meme, especially after the remaster
The upload time will be sporadic, like is was the past month.
After that, I think I'll play from French games...
- _ -
Some IF Stuff:
Today is the last day to submit your list of best IF to the TOP 50 list.
Have an IF ghost in your project drawer? Come share and submit it to the Bring Our Your Ghost Jam. Deadline is September 15th!
The IFComp intent deadline has passed, but if you plan on voting for the entries, you can still create an account!
Similarly, if you are planing on reviewing the IFComp entries, you can get your account settled on the IFDB (many peeps create one at the same time during the voting period, and the system sometimes flags it as spam, and hide ratings/reviews).
September is usually a pretty quiet time... unless you are submitting something to the IFComp... But also, I've been trying reeeeaaaaallllyyyyy hard not to look at the Jam tab on itch, so not to be tempted to do a new thing. I've already put out more games this year than last year (counting the tiny ones).
- _ -
The PLAN tm for September
It will essentially be very similar to August...
continue to play and review games (that front page spot is getting closer...). It gives me an opportunity for a break, and I get to think more about game design or writing, or where I could improve. And I get to give the authors some (hopefully) thoughtful words about their games.
finish the DOL-OS remaster. By mid-September, I think I could swing that. Then it will be another shelved game!
either continue a WIP or fix another semi-completed game. I might try to get La Petite Mort in proper shape and translated for the EctoComp? (I need to check if they accept translation, since it was submitted last year)
maybe try to add another block to the SugarCube Guide? I have a few ideas on what to include, but it is mainly a matter of sitting down and doing it. Though I have another template I've been toying with... maybe that might happen first.
That would be neat if I could manage that :P I need to fix the loading screens of Twine games too...
Taking the list of last month...
To-Do not require much of new stuff:
translate Escape Goncharov! into French. ✅
fix the bugs in EDOC + overall the French version to match
fix the bugs of TRNT + find a way to add the missing pieces (mayyyybe translate into French?)
fix the formatting of DOL-OS + translate into English ✅ (ongoing)
update LPM with the missing content + translate into English
The rest of the To-Do pile:
Finish The Rye in the Dark City (and maybe translate?)
Finish P-Rix - Space Trucker (and try to translate)
Finish Exquisite Cadaver (translation unlikely, current gameplay too complex to port for French)
Add a chapter to CRWL + fix the blog
Re-working TTTT to its originally planned state (lol, not likety)
Re-working SPS Iron Hammer (samesies)
Coding TTATEH (MelS dependent)
Emptying my inboxes
(I am pretty sure the focus for the rest of the year will be to finish the first list. With the addition maybe of a small jam entry or two.)

Weekly Fitness and Weight Loss Update 📝
Clothes are fitting looser!
I maintained my weight this week. Considering that I just stepped on the scale while having a raging period, I take it as a win. I was ready even to see the scale going up!
Not much to say about that, rather that I’m sticking with Intermittent Fasting and keeping an eye on the carbs while introducing whole complex carbs here and there.
As for clothing, that’s where I see a difference! So I’m definitely losing inches and my clothes are fitting looser. I’m wearing some of my old clothes more comfortably and confidently again. A gentle reminder that it’s not all about the number on the scale!
Fitness-wise, I keep on seeing improvements. I have more endurance during my walks (especially walking uphill) and I can hold tree poses with my foot resting on my inner thigh again. I can also hold a plank without modifying. I still modify whatever is needed and I know that there are some exercises that will always be more challenging for me due to my back surgeries and other factors. Everyone is different and I try to do my own best without comparing myself to others, which is honestly easier said than done!
Off to my morning yoga and daily nature walk now 🪷🍃

Progress Update: February 1 2023
TFS: Book One Masterpost  TFS Patreon (New pricing and Benefits) 🌲
Hi Everyone!
I hope your week is going well.
We’re slowly approaching TFS: Book One’s one month release milestone (?).  I think that’s the right word for it, though I’m tempted to use ‘anniversary’ since it’s my beloved. 🥰 While I know many of you familiar with me on Tumblr or the Forum have had a chance to experience the story at least once, it’s also awesome to see new Returning Visitors venturing to Fernweh.
I have a fun quiz that determines how well you know the town and what details may (or may not) have escaped your notice. It’s here, if you haven’t tried it yet.
Also, the February Content Schedule is up on the TFS Patreon here. I realized I never posted January’s on here, which is a shame because I have public content still available. For this month, there will be a public, Valentine’s R short.
Please Note: I am using Patreon's new, flexible subscription system. Your renewal date is the day you join, so someone joining on the 29th of January would be charged again on the 29th of February rather than on the 1st of February, which is how the old system works.
>This avoids potentially being hit with two charges close together, so there’s no need to wait until the 1st of the month to join.<
Tumblr media
(Yes, much like R, I like to color-code things. Their closet is amazing! XD)
The level recaps and my variable mapping to get reacquainted with things have been going very well. I even built some MCs (really, they are my go-to OCs for testing) to check the coding and that things are setting as they should before the characters venture into Book Two. I’m going to be sending over those initial files for my awesome editor/friend to read through them. It wasn’t easy trying to sum up all of Book One in a matter of pages for the short summary, but that part is mostly finished now. I think it’s about four pages of text for the extremely abridged version.
While she is reviewing that, I will be continuing work on Book Two’s chapters and new content by dividing up my time between writing and making initial edits so I can then send those over.
January is officially over, which means February has arrived. But, more importantly, the Valentine’s Day holiday is coming up. 💘 Writing the Valentine-themed writings is a nice change of pace that helps me recharge before switching back over to Book Two’s overarching plot that has subplots with wee, baby plot seeds for the series. It’s different. I sometimes foreshadow things in the bonus writings that will come up later because I find that amusing. XD
Thank you for all of your support! 💚

Weekly Update: 5/1/23 - 5/6/23
Entertainment/Art Progress:
Man, I really do believe my work speed doubled, at least, when it came to my new tablet. I dunno if it's the bigger touch screen or the ability to use my computer's mouse, but something seems to be making my work on it more progressive and easier.
Speaking of, I'm nearing the outlining (and possible end) of the "Chapter 1" image for Getting Your Goat. I mean, it'd feel too disorganized to not have that matter of "divider" between comic sections/chapters, ja? Plus, it makes it feel more like a real comic, when it's finally all together. However, I'm feeling the urge to sketch traditionally, rather than outline on the tablet and digitally. I dunno what it is, but I feel easily peeved off with sketching on the tablet... Yet, coloring and outlining? I feel right and happy as rain.
I'm also doing another "writing practice" to help further ease any tedium of drawing and fully original writing, so keep your eyes peeled for more "fanfiction," per se. Hey, just a little something to tide me over, while I excitedly await Peach Creek to finally make its official debut. I've kinda fallen out of using NovelAi for assistance, during "dry spells" and all that with writing... Eh, why pay for the privilege when you can come up with an idea of what to do next, for free, if you're willing to be patient? Also, be prepared for a majority of Ed Edd n' Eddy themed ones, in that regard; but allow me to warn you right now, the canon characters they'd focus mostly on are Sarah and Jimmy, and follow a 2nd person narration of you being an alternate version of Claire that joins them in either simple antics or learning self-improvement. Sure, it involves everyone else, too; but if not something you'd read for fun, I'd say read it to critique and tell me how to do better, so my original works can benefit from that improved sense of quality.
Personal Life:
Well, I've gotten back into Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and it's certainly a nice experience to relive. I recall abandoning it for a couple years, but I've decided on resuming that matter of escapism. I mean, it doesn't take up too much time, you can play at your own leisure... It's a nice little matter of relaxation, when you just want a small break from things and also don't want to get sucked into playing for longer than intended, having to "complete missions" and all that.
I've also gotten my mother into Invader Zim, and it's nice when your parent can share fondness for a beloved cartoon series. She really seemed to enjoy the Gir shirt I got her for Mother's Day: it uses Gir to convey different emotions, with them listed under each picture.
I'm hoping that dedicating each weekday to a certain muscle group, instead of working them all on both days of the weekend, will not only help me better build them up and tone them, but also allow for more time on weekends to further speed up creative work progress.
Misc.:
Since my tablet functions as a replacement monitor (I can only use my traditional monitor or tablet to display things), I've also taken to using it as a new "game device" with my Steam list. I feel like I do better in the likes of Pizza Tower and all that, with the closer screen and tilted angle. So, yeah, that's a pleasant, yet admittedly "unorthodox," use for a tablet screen!

I'm not going to lie, Take Me to Voldemort is 100% a self-indulgent fan fiction. It's an amalgamation of over a decade being obsessed with Harry Potter and many, many headcannons. Not to mention the troupes. Oh the troupes. And, obviously, at least 75% more gay than the original series.
Fake relationship turned real
Sassy Potter
Lily and James survive
Wolfstar
Hidden relationship
Alternate prophecy
Snape (eventually) becomes a mentor
And it has weekly updates every Monday!

Weekly Weight and Fitness Update ✍🏻
The scale is going down again
After adjusting my diet just a bit, which means basically cutting back on alcohol and sticking to Intermittent Fasting again, the scale is finally going down! I'm very pleased with my 1 kilo loss after weeks of maintenance.
Fitness wise, I haven't been doing much. I've been recovering from a couple of minor injuries and struggling with my mental health, plus the British weather hasn't been cooperative when it comes to outdoor activities!
I've started another 30 days of yoga with a daily meditation/mental exercise associated. Very happy with how that's going as I'm trying to develop myself in different areas. The mental part is definitely harder than the physical aspect for me.
That's all for now! Always happy to hear how other people are doing with their goals.
