my dear ellie I am very torn because upon reading your wip list I find myself desperate to know a little something about saiv chapter 3, but also...hatchet job? You have the hatchet? or the boys are goin' a-murderin'? enquiring minds want to know...

I DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING MY OPTOMETRIST CAN VOUCH FOR ME EVERYTHING'S FINE PUT DOWN THAT SHOVEL HOWL

anyways, as i was going to say.

hatchet job, yes! the fancy title of my film critic ian / horror movie director mickey fic that i stole from mark kermode's memoir. or, you know, the idiomatic expression for "a work of criticism which aims to destroy a reputation" (courtesy of wiktionary)

the plan was to do four to five parts that would each jump forward a couple of years ahead in time (enemies to lovers stylez but make it snappy), and since that's most likely what it will forever be, just a plan, i can tell you what was going to happen in part one, the ever-so-eloquently titled fuck you, ian gallagher

ian is on top of the world. he's 25, finally doing alright after several not-really-worthy-of-mention years, working for his brother's growing online magazine where he makes good on both his english diploma and the years of consuming way too many horror movies (and real-life events) in the gallagher household by writing about anything spooky, scary or gory when it comes to pop culture

that's how he finds himself at horrorama, the biggest genre film festival on the east coast, filing a review on that year's most talked-about flick called sleep tight, daddy, where a young woman takes revenge on her father's years of abuse by locking him up in the basement and putting him through various kinds of torture. it's sick and twisted and there are people stomping out of the cinema in indignation, but to ian, it's just plain boring

he publishes his review, writing that the film "sure made him sleep tight in his seat" and that the debuting filmmaker lacked style and seemed unsure in his direction--and because everyone likes a good hatchet job, it goes viral and ian becomes the talk of the festival

the sudden onslaught of ego-stroking feels intoxicating and it makes ian do what he promised himself to never do again--take a guy to his room after striking a casual conversation with him over a couple of drinks at the hotel bar and proceeding to fuck both of their brains out

the guy's easily the best lay ian's had in years, maybe ever. muscly but soft, and a little on the shorter side, but with thick thighs and a beautiful cock that ian doesn't really get to pay much attention to before his own dick starts doing the thinking for them both and plunges itself into the presented sweet ass way too early

it's too good and it ends all too quickly. ian's lying in the tangled-up sheets, taking heavy breaths and already thinking about their second round, when the guy heaves himself up and starts putting his clothes back on. ian is confused

"i dunno, man," the guy tells him as he zips up his jeans. "you kinda seemed unsure in your direction and lacked style. might wanna work on that."

he leaves ian with that--and a smirk around the cigarette he fishes out his back pocket

the next day, when sleep tight, daddy wins the festival prize for the best feature debut, it finally downs on ian who exactly he fucked last night. or maybe who fucked with him, more like

because mickey milkovich, the film's director, takes the stage, this muscly but soft guy with a metal band t-shirt on, arranges the microphone to his height and uses his dedicated speech time to say: "i only really have one thing i'd like to share and it's this: fuck you, ian gallagher." and the crowd roars with laughter and applause as he flips the camera

i'm so behind on my "finish a WIP" challenge fic because i've been feeling so awful 😭 but i did manage to write a little... entirely unrelated thing for my Psych AU (which i haven't technically started writing yet, so now i just have this scene sitting in my docs, waiting to be tied into an actual fic). since i don't have anything else to share right now, here's a few sentences from that, i guess 😅

Alex sinks into the kiss for a moment, humming appreciatively when Henry’s fingers scratch lightly over his scalp, but he breaks the kiss again, smiling into Henry’s mouth at the slightly embarrassing noise of protest he lets out. “Seriously,” he murmurs, not going as far this time, so their lips brush together with every word in a way that sends shivers down Henry’s spine, “what do you want?” Henry lets out a soft huff, more fond exasperation than true annoyance. He appreciates that Alex is asking, he just also wants to get on with it, already. “Can’t you work that out?” he says dryly, tapping Alex’s temple with two gentle fingers. “Psychic?” Alex rolls his eyes so hard Henry fears for a moment he might actually get up and leave, but then his hands come up to cradle Henry’s jaw so carefully it almost brings tears to his eyes. He leans down and presses their lips together briefly, pulling back before Henry can attempt to deepen the kiss. “It doesn’t work like that,” he says. “‘It’ doesn’t ‘work’ at all, you’ve already admitted—” Alex shuts him up with another kiss, that cheeky grin that Henry loves so much spreading across his face, softened by an emotion that Henry doesn’t dare to name yet.

Tagged by @drabbleitout. I have like two or three WIPs right now so I'll just go with the last one I was working on, a dark fantasy novel based on real Irish history & mythology called Miasma.

CW for gore (you'll get used to this with my shite, lmao)

The plague doctor finds this assessment accurate when her horse finds some footing beneath two trunks and whinnies in dismay. The three look towards him as he raises his hoof, bloody brain matter clinging to the horseshoe.

The doctor tilts her head and peers beneath one of the trunks, finding a cracked-open skull beneath it.

“By the Seven Hells,” she mutters. She’s worked with corpses for years, cut them open, studied them, meticulously organised every last organ. Yet, with all that experience, her stomach still revolts, eager to unload. “It looks like the battle’s over. I don’t see what’s there to worry about.”

She regrets such a careless supposition when the air finds itself beset by an inhuman screech.

I think I'm going to post about the creature that comes after this because he's one of my favorites

The Discreet Gentleman's Connection by pluto (gayrights420) [Drarry, E, 80.4k] 🌼🔥 I had the absolute pleasure of beta-ing for this fic, so when I say it is amazing, it truly is just that. Fast burn on the smut via Floo sex, slow burn on the in-person falling in love. Satisfying in all the best possible ways.

2. A fic that made me laugh

AITA for being "obsessed" with my childhood nemesis? by @rainstormradish [Drarry, M, 4.3k] 🌼📲 Draco on a reddit forum is hilarious just on its own, but the banter and formatting really bring this fic to life. Amazingly creative, had me in stitches!

3. A comfort fic

The Eighth Tale by @letteredlettered [Drarry, E, 12.0k] 💔⏳ An oldie but a goodie. I constantly find myself coming back to this fic and having my mind blown every single time. Time travel timey-wimey angst.

4. A fic with art

Dating Draco - A Visual Game by @itsphantasmagoria [Drarry, M, Video Game] 🌼🎮 This is a fic in video game form!! Amazing art and lovely story where YOU get to make the choices for Drarry's happily ever after.

The Journal of Dreadful Things by @lilbeanz [Drarry, G, 112k, WIP] 🌼📖 Hilarious, witty, AND COMES WITH ART!! Lilbeanz draws and writes a wonderfully delightful series starting from Draco's First Year. His characterization had me in hysterics. Book 4 is starting soon!

7. An unreliable narrator fic

Sea of White by @dividawrites [Harrymort, E, 8.6k] 🔥🤍 Deliciously hot, creepy, and strangely sweet. Love their dynamic here, the unrestrained lust. Harrymort "die" and lose their memories, so, of course, then they bang.

8. A fic that made me cry

Far Apart, Far Away by @unmistakablyoatmeal [Hinny, minor Drarry, T, 1.6k] 💔💍 Infidelity angst has never been this good. I love the layers of emotion in this fic. Quick punchy sections that really pulled me in.

9. A Muggle(?) AU fic

Pleasant Hope by @ac1d6urn, @sinick [Snarry, E, 41.6k] 💔⛪️ Pastor Severus!! The angst, pining, and self-discovery in this fic is superb! I love the interwoven magic and detailed world-building of this little town.

The Last Trial of Peter Pettigrew by @sleepstxtic [Prongstail, M, 20.8k] 💔 🐀 Holy moly, this fic!!!! Is this my new favorite fic?? Possibly. The concept is brilliant, so creative and nuanced. The Peter character study using outsider perspectives is genius. Seamlessly balances canon and new scenes.

11. A pre-canon fic

Careless by @tax-onomic [Luther, E, 1.5k] 🔥🪞 Lucius/Arthur my beloved rare pair!! I am captain of the Luther ship, and Tax's fic hits all the right spots. The pining, the sniping, the prickly personalities with emotional vulnerability underneath! And all in the middle of a hot smut scene. Perfect.

12. A canon-compliant fic

Scottish by thepadfoots [Chedric, G, 749] 💔🌟 Lovely Cho character study focused around her Asian identity and the boy she loved.

13. A fic rated G (more like T though)

Lion-Hearted Girl by MinnieQuill (odainath) [Minmione, G, 4.5k] 💔🦁 I know the large age gap might scare some, but their relationship feels very organic in this fic. The setting is grim, but there is always hope in the darkness!

You're So Vane by @patriceavril [Romelina, T, 6.8k] 🌼💄Romilda is so delightfully characterized, I was smiling through the entire fic. Angelina is the perfect foil (and love interest) to Romilda's attentions.

15. A rare pair fic (less than 2000 fics on AO3)

Snakeskin by @cntrl15 [Bellastoria, E, 3.7k] 🔥👠 Talk about a rare pair! Astoria/Bellatrix only has 2 tagged fics on AO3: this fic and the drabble I wrote based on it. But read this fic, and you'll see why I felt the need to write more in this universe.

16. A fest fic

Master of None by @nanneramma [Snormac, G, 5.5k] 🌼🧘 Severus is so wonderfully cranky, and Cormac is fine AF. The surprise pairing of 2023 that I never knew I needed and now I'm obsessed with!

17. An under-rated fic

Sun, Shadow, Shade by @naomijameston [Snuna, G, 700] 🌼☀️ Post-war fluff. Sunshine Luna is the perfect match for sullen Snape. A short and sweet fic for this underrated ship.

18. A canon-divergent fic

but somebody's gotta do it by nocturn [Pangulus, T, 920] 😄🧟‍♂️ This fic will make you say WTF but also huh, okay that totally works. The concept is WILD but Lyra executes it wonderfully. Pansy drags Regulus out of the inferi lake and they flirt a little while he gets de-corpsified lol.

19. A dark fic

In his embrace by @loneamaryllis [Snarrymort, het!Snarry, E, 48k] ⚡️👀 Dark and dirty but so so good. A Voldemort Wins AU where fem!Harry is taken as prisoner. Snape's mindset as he tries to save her (and is forced to rape her) is so twisted and mesmerizing. Mind the tags!

20. A thought-provoking fic

Icarus by @thistlecatfics [Millvansy, M, 20.0k] 💔🍾 War trauma, addiction, codependency! This fic is messy with emotions but has a strong, beating heart underneath. I am in love with Parvati as she deals with Pansy's addiction and Millicent's denial — three beautiful, imperfect girls.

21. A holiday fic

A Time, Dark and Divine by @moonflower-rose [Dronarry, E, 17.0k] 🔥⛱ HOLY FREAKING FUCK!! The sexual tension in this fic is off the freaking charts. Drarry seducing Ron while on vacation in Portugal. Sign me the fuck up!

Bold of anyone to assume I'm good enough at coming up with titles that I have multiple to choose from. Oh! But actually I do for Bait and Switch, thanks to Dre brainstorming fishing idioms with me. There were 4 alternatives, but my favorite is All is Fish, because it makes no fucking sense.

5. ⚠️Which WIP your most likely to finish or update next?

It had better be Musical Chairs.

6. 💾What is your document of your WIP/ a WIP called? (not the stories actual title but what you’ve saved it as)

In an uncommon turn of events, I only have one (active) WIP right now that's not already named as it will be posted, and that's "yeah sure let's just write some shit that's way later and not finish the other that's fine"

7. 🖍Post Any sentence(s) from your WIP.

It’s just…there’s also some deer in the headlights energy to him, which, mixed with the general aura of barely tamed violence, is throwing Shepard off. Truly, it’s been a good long while since he’s done this kind of pinballing over what he’s seeing when he looks at someone.

He does know what he’s seeing when he looks back at Simon. It’s the sort of face that has him politely averting his eyes to examine the bland thread of Simon’s shirt instead. He thinks walking in on the two of them tangled up without a stitch of clothing wouldn’t feel half as intrusive as looking at that expression did.

8. ♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP.

I had to abandon about a page of the above misnamed WIP (now to be succinctly abbreviated as YSLJWSSTWLANFTOTF) because it no longer fits the tone of the rest of the fic at all, which is sad because it made me laugh. It's too long to put here in its entirety, but here's part of one line, which shall function as the dead darling's eulogy: "I know you have a dick, Baz, I’ve fucking well been thinking about it!”

9. 🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet?

Okay there's one I don't want to say much about because, selfishly, I want to be the one to write it, but it's related to truth spells. (Technically I've started it because there's a document with 10 scattered lines of dialogue, but I haven't started it started it.)

10. 🤡How many WIPS are you actively working on?

I'm trying to focus on 3, but I might have to say 4 here.

11. 🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now?

I have rewritten the same 4 pages of Musical Chairs about 5 times. It's absurd. I know what's going to happen, I have the ending written, I have almost everything that gets us there written, and yet this section is u n d o i n g me.

Ooooh, tell me more about part 6 - I LOVE Scenes from a Marriage 😍

sfm really feels like another lifetime for me, but once i finished undead agents, i had this scenario come to me out of absolutely nowhere and i immediately thought, 👀 new sfm, maybe?

it all basically stemmed from a night out with the family after which ian told mickey something along the lines of, "you know you can, like, grab my butt in public, right?" which, in turn, stemmed from their apparent but understandable lack of PDA on the show (which i highly support, as a PDA anti myself)

so what if ian got one of his shouldn't we be more like other couples even though we're doing fine? brain worms going and decided they needed to be more affectionate towards one another? and as the old summary goes, hilarity and hopefully something real and meaningful ensued

Thank you for the tag. @anyablackwood!!! I'm a huge fan of worldbuilding, so this is going to be so fun! I'll go with my WIP Of Starlight and Beasts for this one!

Kingdom Of Tirawen

Tirawen is one of, if not the, most important cities in the realm. Capital of a kingdom (of the same name) Tirawen is nestled atop the eastern side of a vast mountain range, at the heart of the realm. It was once a "sibling kingdom" to its neighboring nation of Idraven before Idraven fell to the clutches of a harrowing curse that practically wiped it from history's records. Tirawen is ruled over by an ancient royal family, a dynasty said to have brought about an era of peace and prosperity to the once chaotic realm. The kingdom also has a darker side - beset by monstrous, twisted beasts from beyond the mountains, all throughout the year, but especially so during the long winter months of the kingdom, Tirawen strongly depends on its magical borders, which have provided effective protection from the beasts for centuries. However, in the beginning of the book, this magic begins to wane and falter, presenting a dire future that just may put at risk the existence and survival of this beautiful marble city, if not prevented on time.

The Frosts

The Frosts are a large expanse of land far beyond the territories of kingdoms like Tirawen, Monbern, or Orloch. A vast, frozen, and desertic tundra, the Frosts' land is untamable to outsiders who do not understand the power of its enchanted winter. This land is also the home of the first True Dragons and giant snakes, which seem to have been born of the raw magic present in the snowstorms and frozen oceans. The Frosts have their own kingdoms and divisions of land, independent from their neighbors on the other side of the continent - such as Tirawen, and the other cities - though the two lands have strong diplomatic bonds and trade. They're ruled over by five, ancient, matriarchal clans, who were the first humans to master both the art of survival and magic - and they have learned to both tame and leave peacefully with the giant draconic creatures surrounding them. This land is much, much more ancient than Tirawen and any of the kingdoms that grew around it.

YES. omg i will always respond to a comment because they make me wildly happy. although sometimes (currently), i feel too overwhelmed to reply right away and i end up with an overflowing inbox. right now i have 200 unanswered comments that i WILL reply to 😂

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

as far as finished fics, Hate the Way It Feels So Good has, i guess, the most unsatisfying ending. generally i always write HEA. although i have a wip that was never supposed to end happily: Wicked, to Let Me Dream of You.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

i’d say Sweet Surrender is the happiest considering all the angst you have to read to get there 😂 but like i said, most have a happy ending

8. Do you get hate on fics?

generally, no. but i have gotten more hate than anyone i’ve talked to about it! (certain word choices ‘ruining’ an entire fic for someone, grammar corrections, people telling me i’m a liar when i didn’t upload fast enough… all mostly surface stuff that hasn’t been too bad yet 😩)

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

the real question is: have i ever not written smut? and the answer to that is no. what kind? every kind. tame, not-so-tame, porn with plot, porn with feelings, gross stuff, cute stuff, you name it 😉

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

not really. the closest i’ve been to writing a crossover is How I’d Kill, in which the first few chaps are pretty inspired by ACOTAR.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

not copy and pasted, as far as i know. there have been a few instances where i’ve noticed bigger accounts posting eerily similar plot lines to some of the stuff i’ve written, but i’m 100% sure it’s just coincidence. we have to remember nothing is outright original when it comes to plot. as long as you’re not intentionally plagiarizing someone’s work, similarities are bound to happen.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

no!! i’ve never had a translation, a pod fic, or artwork done for any of my fics! i’m just out here in my own little bubble lmao

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

i haven’t! although i’ve definitely talked about it with @the-unforgivenn!! i get nervous because i’m such a procrastinator when it comes to getting my own fics done—i don’t want to drag someone else down 😂

14. What’s you’re all time favourite ship?

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i honestly hope/plan to finish ALL of my posted wips, even though a couple are on pause. there’s a few saved on my laptop that I’m sure will never see the light of day hahaha

16. What are your writing strengths?

i’m blind to my own writing so it’s hard to say. i’d like to think just general improvement as i’ve written more/read more. a lot of repeat readers have complimented me on how i write angst so maybe that?!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

i could write an essay on this. first—no matter how many times i read through my fics—there’s some autocorrect that i missed or a spelling error or just SOMETHING 😂 not to mention the procrastinating. always getting major writer’s block. and generally being very hard on myself.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i MIGHT be able to get away with a few french phrases here and there, being half french, but in general i only know english well enough to write. reading? LOVE it. make all the characters multilingual—i’ll have google translate ready.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

stranger things 🥹 and most likely will be the only fandom i ever write for. (unless you count the RPF i wrote and will NEVER publish about joseph quinn 💀)

20. Favourite fic you’ve written?

i personally think my best written fic is How I’d Kill, but Sweet Surrender will always be my favourite just by default—there was no better feeling as a first time writer reading the lovely comments that i got on that fic. i’ll never forget it 🥹

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

22! (which is my favorite number, yay!) 4 of these are ficlet/micro collections though.

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

3. What fandoms do you write for?

Harry Potter! I've written for others before, and I keep saying I'm going to go back to Pirates of the Caribbean but the Jily brainrot has such a hold on me I don't know if it's going to happen.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmmmm so listen, let's have a chat. I love angst—that's not surprising anyone. But I also love the HAPPINESS at the end. So even if it's not downright happy, it's usually at least hopeful. But also with that said, probably this micro. (or also maybe this oneshot)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Happiest? Instinctively I wanted to say Magic Like This but it's still canon-verse so.....I'm going to go with my waves meet your shore (forever and evermore), which is a oneshot in my Pirate Jily universe. It wasn't even supposed to BE this happy, they just took the reins from me.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I do not (or rather, I haven't yet), and I feel incredibly fortunate for that. I'm sure the day will come, though!

9. Do you write smut. If so, what kind?

@athenasparrow prodded me into it and I do now! I only write Jily, so M/F, and it's pretty tame, all things considered 😅

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

RIP to my Titanic x Jily crossover I started when I was 13 and never finished. Crossovers don't hold any appeal to me, personally (though I guess at age 13 I thought differently.)

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I know of!

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

I had a request from someone to translate Things That Haven't Happened Yet into Russian, but I'm not sure if it ever happened.

13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?

Not in the Jily fandom! When I was 13 my friends and I passed a journal around and round-robined a Harry Potter fic. And then a few years later in another fandom I collabed with another author but she ended up having to see the thing through because I had to study for my SATs (and I started dating Mr. Kelsey and he started taking up all my free time OOPS).

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Jily! (though Willabeth does have a strong hold on me still to this day)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I'm still optimistic about all my WIPs. 😅 Evans Sisters Bakery is one I really want to figure out—I have a few pieces written, but the plot just isn't working for me. I really hope to shake it all out next year. The one that's furthest in the backseat is probably but if the story's over, why am i still writing pages? which I've shared excerpts from (Lily and James break up seventh year, still love each other though. It's very angsty and there's lots of secret meetings regardless of the breakup).

16. What are your writing strengths?

Oh man, I don't know. Dialogue, maybe? I like to think my dialogue reads natural. Also I think I'm good at bringing the angst in a way that makes sense for the characters and not just writing angst for angst's sake. (But you tell me if I'm wrong! 😂)

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Descriptions. I'm not great at scene setting. I want to get to the action/emotions/conflict like immediately lol.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

If I could do it believably? I'd give it a shot. But I can't so I won't!

19. First Fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter! (Harmony fans RISE @suzyq31).

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

I answered this written and I PROMISE it's not recency bias, but i'll be fine, i'll be good is so incredibly close to my heart and is the fic I've worked longest and most carefully on, so...that one.

I'm married, half Hispanic (I'm not...completely fluent in Spanish but I can get through the basics) poly, pan/bisexual, demisexual, genderfluid [she/they] early 30s millenial. And a pisces. 100% a feral goblin. (But usually, I just say I'm queer🏳️‍🌈🐌)

I have an English degree with a minor in professional and creative writing. What am I doing with that degree? Writing fanfiction, because that degree is not what's keeping the bills paid. I realized after graduating I like writing the same way a lot of people like drawing - it's a hobby and a passion, not a career. Though bg3 has got me writing more so...maybe I'll take it more seriously again.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in the 90s so you know it's bad. Which means I go through intense periods of hyperfocus and writing followed by an agonizing lack of motivation.

My works tab claims the number to be twenty two, but at least one is a screen-reader-friendly duplicate of a Percy Jackson themed Reskin of Kids on Brooms, so it's more like...twenty one. I'd also take off of Blister Pack one-shots because they're tiny but they are one shots and those are technically valid, so...

Naruto.

...So I what I usually write and what I actually publish to ao3 are pretty different 😅 I've been doing a bunch of dp x dc fics as of late, and one dc x marvel fic, but if left to my own devices, I go back to Star Wars and Naruto and a lot of Naruto, and I have a surprising word count on a Supernatural fic which is odd considering I've never actually finished an episode of the show before.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

I've received stuff I honestly consider worse than hate, which is people who believe that I should think exactly what they think and write the fic as they believe canon should be interpreted, but here is the funniest exchange I've ever had on any fic ever:

Once. I will occasionally write stuff for myself, but the reviews on the one posted smut chapter were generally that it was very, very funny. This does not give me much feedback to work off of lmao

I don't believe in genuine OTPs, but whatever Desiree!Janet and Bruce have going on in Drake Manor is hysterical to me. I hope they get divorced and then break up and then get back together and then break up again.

I want to finish Trade of Trickery. I think it will take time. But I am determined to do it. We're halfway through the Sea of Monsters and I am delusional enough to think I can make it if I just power through in some distant future

I am the recipient of divine visions which keep me going. The hard part is staying consistent when I lose steam.

Google translate is my friend, and I don't necessarily believe in providing translations. There's no irl subtitles. If the characters are meant to understand, I'll leave stuff around to make the context and content clear, but like, no creo que es necesario en todos situaciónes.

19. First Fandom you wrote for?

...Naruto...maybe...? No I'm wrong. It was Fairy Cube. My first divine visions/early fic thoughts were from Tamora Pierce's Song of the Lioness series and my first fandom I actually wrote/published fic for was Fairy Cube. Don't ask what account it was on. I borrowed my friend's ffn account. I don't remember the username anymore.

20. Favorite Fic you’ve written?

....hoo boy. Tie for Quiet Respite and Trade of Trickery. I love Comets and Drake Manor has a special place in my heart, but QR feels uniquely mine in ways that my dp x dc fics sometimes don't, and Trickery really is a love story about Sally Jackson and forgotten Demigod kids. Nothing else hits. Nothing else is the same. It's about collecting what you can in your hands and taking it with you.

13 right now! I’m a baby fic writer lol I only started in 2022 as a coping mechanism from university fucking me up, but I’m fully in love with it now. It’s so good to get back into writing for myself after writing for school and exams according to a marking scheme for so long.

What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I’d say my first fic? Four Times Love Meant Sacrifice and the One Time It Didn't Need To, because that was literally four ships with a bad ending (or at least endings presented as bad) with one final happy ending ship. But otherwise I mostly stick with happy endings, or at least hopeful endings

But I will say my WIP that I posted on Wednesday is gonna break that record and have the angsiest ending, because it’s about Arthur Fox’s cancer diagnosis and Henry’s emotional journey through that point of his life

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I’d say most of them are fairly happy? But I do think I do hopeful endings more.

Probably Can I Have This Dance? It ends with Alex and Henry dancing around in the Texas family house after the election

Do you get hate on fics?

So far so good, no, and I’m hoping it stays that way 🥹

Do you write smut?

Very, very tame. The most explicit thing I’ve written is The Word of Your Body, which is a RWRB Movie Paris scene fic. It’s very tame, but writing the main event gave me such a crisis

Craziest crossover:

I don’t think I’ve done a crossover? Between fandoms, that is. And I don’t think I’ll ever plan to? Unless you count what I did for Four Times Love Meant Sacrifice and the One Time It Didn't Need To because I was mixing the actor’s characters from different projects and shipping them together (which is a really prominent thing in the LLD/JZ fandom)

No, not that I know of

No, but with my growing interest in translation, I am thinking of translating some of my own fics, starting with the LLD (since that’s a dominantly Chinese fandom to began with)

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I have way too many ideas in my RWRB draft box, so there’s a lot of doubt there

But for fics I actually already started, it’s a song fic on “I’ll Cover You” from Rent for Junzhe. I was like 40% done with the draft, but the last time I touched it was in 2022.

It’s supposed to be a sort of exploration on cross-dressing and femineity which started because I was pissed at the government’s “Anti-sissy” declaration, and Zhehan (one part of the ship, but don’t search him online yourself a lot of shit happened and there’s massive misinformation everywhere about him) was really loved and known for his perceived femininity after holding a dominantly masculine image for most of his career. The gender neutrality in his style during and after Word of Honor suited him better, and I wanted to write about that

What are your writing strengths?

Descriptive writing and character studies, which is why most of my fics are either putting visual media into words, or missing scenes, or canon compliant

What are your writing weaknesses?

Dialogue and anything regarding movement and action, so choosing to write a Tangled AU for the RWRB Big Bang is a challenge I set for myself

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Be careful with it, and be respectful. (and of course, if it’s Chinese, I will be extra critical)
