Imagine Being Orochimaru's Daughter And Dating Yamato
A/n : I had a hard time writing it it felt so weird to struggle. But I fnally made it and I love it 🔥🦔
A/n : For the fic purpose imagine that you're sitting at a table on the floor, next to Yamato and Orochimaru is in front of him
Warnings : Fluff, slight comedy, Orochimaru has his own role in the fic as much as Yamato, Yamato is canon-verse like he doesn't seem to mind being the subject of Mokuton test of Orochimaru

Yamato had never wondered about your family ties. After all, he didn't have anyone, so maybe you didn't either. He had met you at the Anbu long after Kakashi had become a genin instructor.
So he was very surprised at the beginning of your 3 year relationship when you told him that you would like to introduce him to your father figure. He was very surprised and he was a little - a lot - stressed. What if he gave the wrong impression, what if he didn't like him, and what if-
"Hey Yamato" you said rubbing his arm in a comforting way "Everything is going to be fine don't worry he's going to love you" "Y-you're sure ?" "Sure and certain"
He had taken a breath and after a quick kiss you parted, you going back to your place and he going back to the comfort of his apartment, ideas running wild in his head about meeting your "father" the next day.
On your side you didn't worry too much, you had known Orochimaru since you were a child. In your case he hadn't tried to trick you in any way. No. He simply took you in out of a sense of... kindness. He tried to convince himself that he was doing this for his own interest, but his heart had begun to change without him realizing it.
Of course one could clearly see that you were adopted, your h/c hair and beautiful e/c eyes were a far cry from the piercing, reptilian eyes of your father. But still you grew to love each other as father and daughter. He had taught you everything and you had been a great help in your own way.
On the big day Yamato took some time to decide what he would wear to make a good impression on your father. Far from thinking that he knew unfortunately enough already. He did his hair and decided to let his forehead protector home before leaving his house and heading towards yours.
He decided to take the path to the park to clear his mind of the anxieties that plagued him.
"Hello Tenzo what brings you in this outfit ?" he heard the voice of Kakashi who was reading a book sitting on a bench, his finger was pointed at the suit pants he was wearing.
"Ah that" he rubbed the back of his neck "I-I'm going to meet Y/n's father so I wanted to make a good first impression"
"First impression ? But you already know each other" he answered confidently
Yamato froze for a moment, his eyes fixed on Kakashi "Wait how ? When ?"
Kakashi smirked realizing that his old friend had no information on the subject "Well I won't spoil the surprise for you you'll see when you get there"
"Kakashi please tell me who it is-"
"Goodbye" said the older ninja waving, before he disappeared in a poof of smoke.
"Come on" Yamato shoot raising his hands above his head, before continuing his walk towards your house.
But the closer he got to your house the more he felt a sense of unease in his heart. He felt as if he could feel an extremely powerful chakra emanating from there.
When he got to the door he stopped, trying to remember who he had felt the chakra from before. He had already been standing in front of the door for 10 minutes as if he was trying to bore holes while he was trying to recall it. His eyes widened as he made the connection between the fabulous source of chakra and an old enemy he had a lot to do with in the past. He felt his heart racing with forecasting, how would Orochimaru react knowing that the man you as chosen was one of the children he had taken from his family to perform Mokuton tests.
He knew however that Orochimaru had changed but still, he wouldn't have thought that you were his daughter, not only because of the resemblance but also because you didn't really look like someone who had grown up with someone who was so evil - but truth be told you didn't grow up with this side of him. But little did he know that Orochimaru was not the same man with you as he was at that moment with the others who were using him for his personal scientific research.
Inside though, while you were busy serving the tea you had prepared to your father he drew your attention.
"Dear I think he knows, I've been sensing his chraka at the door for quite a while" his voice steady not giving anything away as usual.
You sighed serving your own tea "I know... I've been sensing it too. I'm going to talk to him" you said walking towards the door "Try not to eavesdrop... this time" you said sending him a dark glare before opening the door.
With a quick step you left your apartment and turned in his direction. He jumped back, still on his guard. A slight blush appeared on his face when he saw the pretty sundress you had specially put on for the occasion.
"Erm hey Y/n what are you doing here ?" he said mentally facepalming himself when he realized how stupid what he was saying was.
"Well I was at home waiting for you" you chuckled taking his hand in yours "But now that you're here I don't have to wait anymore"
He smiled sheepishly knowing that because of his moment of reflection concerning the identity of your father he was nearly 10 minutes late.
You took a step back into your apartment but his hand tightened on yours. When you looked back at him he gave you a look of doubt and apprehension. Of course you knew why and you bitterly regretted the childhood Yamato had known because of your father's actions. However, you couldn't go back in time as much as you wanted to, nor could you not tell him or at least formalize your relationship with Orochimaru, the latter being very close to you, because of the gratefulness he felt that you had helped him change.
You took a step back into your apartment but his hand tightened on yours. When you turned your head back to him he gave you a look of doubt and apprehension. Of course you knew why and you bitterly regretted the childhood Yamato had known because of your father's actions. However, you couldn't go back as much as you wanted to, nor could you not tell him who your father is, or at least formalize your relationship with Orochimaru, the latter being very close to you, because of the gratfulness he felt that you had helped him change.
You came back on your steps and took him in your arms. As his head set on your shoulder you whispered to him "That's okay if you don't wanna met him. I won't blame you"
But he shook his head "No, I'm sticking with it. Sorry for the internal reflection moment"
He kissed the top of your head and nodded "We're good to go"
And so the two of you enter your apartment. After taking off his shoes Yamato walked shyly into the dining room, where Orochimaru was sitting at the table with his back to him, he recognized his long black hair. Suddenly he stands up and his gaze settles on you first before landing on Yamato. He bows respectfully in an uncanny way and Yamato does the same for politeness.
"Okay so dad this is Yamato... and you guys already know each other so I'm gonna let you guys and get some cake for tea" you said before running hoping you didn't forget to buy the pastries.
Once out of the room Orochimaru looked at Yamato and whispered "Don't expect an exaggerated display of politeness from me"
Yamato swallowed hard, he didn't even have time to answer when you come back in the room with a plate of pastries.
"Hey I didn't forget them after all" you said smiling.
"I bet these namagashis will be delicious my Dear" smiled your father.
Yamato's mouth hung open, not because of the pastries you bought in the bakery but because Orochimaru had just called you my Dear ?!? I mean he was your father but still it wasn't usual to act so- is that a genuine smile on his face ?!? O.O
After you all took a patisseries, orochimaru see you exchange a look of love with Yamato and he felt his heart swell, he was delighted to see his little flower happy and shining like that.
Yamato on his side had a hard time to relax. You realized this and discreetly tried to start a conversation with your father "So how are you doing ?" unfortunately for you the conversation lasted less time than you thought "Oooh you know the usual. Oh by the way Dear would you like to warm up my tea please it's running cold" "Of course" and with that you went back to the kitchen with his glass of tea in hand.
Once you were out of sight, Orochimaru, after taking a bite from his cake, put it back down and asked the man in front of him "I hope this isn't one of your schemes to keep an eye on me. If she ever were to complain about you in any way you will have to deal with me"
The end of his sentence was brimming with murderous envy. Of course he wanted to assess Yamato's worth but he was firm on the fact that whoever hurt his princess would end up hearing from him. Of course Yamato realized this last part and almost choked on his cake, he quickly took a sip of tea to swallow. Then he spoke, his eyes full of determination.
"No, of course not, I will never allow myself to play with her feelings in order to ensure your surveilliance"
His interlocutor smirked "Talking about feelings. Did the ROOT give them back to you packed in a box ?"
And just at these words, a wave of feelings comes to crash on the poor yamato, who had no idea of what Orochimaru was currently trying to do. Maybe because of stress or something else he didn't even think that the latter was maybe trying to test him. No, directly his mind jumped to conclusions and he imagined a twisted scenario in which Orochimaru decided that he had had enough of him and decided to eliminate him coldly.
But listening to his heart Yamato instead of crumbling under the weight of the words, decided to straighten up and look Orochimaru in the eye, his eyes filled with a certain determination and dare he add an ounce of protectiveness. Liking the look in his eyes, Orochimaru smiled - but even his smile was frightening for him lmao - causing Yamato to be even more wary.
As he tried to gather his words to refute your father's words and express his true and unwavering devotion to you, you came back in with the steaming tea as requested, along with another cake
As you placed the tea in front of your father and the cake in the center of the table, your gaze fell on Yamato who had just swallowed the words he was about to address to your father. The smile he tried to throw at you to divert attention, as you sat back down next to him, could not hide the apprehension in his eyes.
You decided not to say anything, judging that if Yamato had thought it worthwhile to talk about it, he would have done so. However, your resolve was broken when your father took a knife to cut the cake and Yamato squeezed your hand under the table quite tightly.
And as if to add to his condition, your father spoke up and put a piece of cake in front of Yamato "I made this one myself. As a guest you'll be the first tasting it"
He couldn't say no in front of you, so with a trembling hand Yamato took a fork and dug it into the slice of cake before putting it in his mouth and exchanging a fearful look with you.
"What the hell was going on ?" you thought while waiting for him to finish his bite. He couldn't say that he didn't like the cake the sannin made however he was weary at the sight of its composition.
That was enough for you and you asked him "Tenzo are you feeling alright ?"
He looked at you with a face full of recognition, but also of embarrassment, as he saw Orochimaru serve you a piece and you too took a bite. He wouldn't try to poison his own child after all and with that he realized little by little that his apprehension and distrust of the sannin was a little out of place.
He looked at you before looking at your father, his voice filled with remorse even though he was trying to hide it "I'm sorry for the misunderstanding"
You looked at both of them trying to understand what misunderstanding your partner was talking about but Orochimaru spoke up.
"There is nothing wrong with that, my reputation is tenacious and I know it. However I appreciate what I can see before me" he said nodding approvingly as he looked at you.
You glanced at Yamato whose look made you understand that he was going to explain everything to you later. The meeting went much better than it had started for everyone, Yamato felt much more at ease, Orochimaru seemed satisfied with your choice and you... well you still had trouble understanding what you had missed but you were happy that everything went well nevertheless.
As you realized that the meeting was coming to an end, orochimaru spoke up "And by the way, who is going to move in with whom, as I realize that you both live in the center of town, maybe a house more away from the hustle and bustle would be more appropriate for infants"
"Infants ?!? 👀" exclaimed Yamato, a hint of red defining itself on his cheeks, his eye twitching.
"Pfffffffff dad !!!" you said after making a spit take as you started to choke on the little bit of tea you had swallowed. Yamato jumped towards you and gently tapped on your back to help you evacuate.
"What I'm worried about is my offspring-" he said before dodging a kunai that you threw at him. Yamato whistled, you were indeed your father's daughter. The latter chuckled "Oh I'm teasing you, Darling. Take care" and with that he placed a kiss on your forehead, nodded to Yamato and left your apartment, a smile on his lips as he added "Until next time Tenzo" and closed the door behind him, and this time it was the one who made a spit take.
You chuckled at your father's behavior, you didn't expect it all to go so well. When your gaze rested on Yamato, he was red, his mind retracing what your father had said about the children. A slight shudder ran through his body as he imagined the possible consequences that Orochimaru's words of you both having kids were having on him.
You gently ran your hand over his arm telling him how great he did for an official first meeting with your father. You quirked an eyebrow at him when you left how hot his skin felt under your touch "Aw is it because he talked about children that you are in this state ?" you chuckled as he buried his face in your neck his face as red as a tomato.
"You know" you said still patting his back "The subject of children won't be on the plate until the two of us decide it. That won't stop us from having our fun though" you said winking at him and clearing away the cakes that were on the table.
As his eyes followed your figure retreating into the kitchen, he couldn't help but feel a shiver of anticipation run through his body, was this an invitation ? Well for that there was only one way to know. He ran his fingers through his hair and with a decided but timid step decided to follow you. And take whatever you had in store for him.

Seated at the Bar
Yamato/GN!Reader (no pronouns or y/n)
Tumblr media
Summary: Yamato’s got a crush, Kakashi finds that out when he’s sent on a personal favor to the Hokage to help the shinobi who she thinks might be developing an alcohol problem. But the nervous jonin needs a bit of a nudge, and Kakashi is happy to provide the support. Fluff. Cross posted to AO3
Word count: 1.2k
“This isn’t a high level mission by any means, but I’m worried about Yamato.” The request from Lady Tsunade was clear, and Kakashi sighs as he looks inside the bar where he knew Yamato would be. The younger man had been coming here on an almost daily basis over the last couple weeks, which had those who knew him concerned. His mission here was to see if he could support Yamato before he truly developed an alcohol problem.
But what he sees when he actually walks inside is not quite what he’d expected. Yamato is there, of course, but sitting at the bar with a look on his face that Kakashi could only describe as dopey while he sits. Whatever he was here for, it likely wasn’t the alcohol and that makes Kakashi feel better while further confusing him as he makes his way in and takes a seat at the bar beside the younger man.
“What’s your drink of choice, Tenzō?” The question startles his friend, who immediately turns to look at him in shock. “Y’know, I’ve never been here.”
“It's a relatively newer establishment,” Yamato mumbles, looking up when the bartender approaches with his glass and thanking them quietly. It’s then that Kakashi puts two and two together, smiling behind his mask when he realizes that his friend came here so often because he had a crush on the bartender. That was water in his glass, and that dopey look was a dopey lovesick look.
“So, have you talked to the bartender you’ve been staring at?” Kakashi asks, already knowing the answer but enjoying how the man beside him turns red and chokes on his water. “Really, you’re here almost every night for two weeks and you don’t talk to the reason you come here?”
“I say ‘good evening’, and order my drink-”
“Your water?”
“-and I say ‘goodnight’ and ‘thank you’ when I leave.” Yamato finishes, watching as Kakashi shakes his head. “Look, it’s hard. I want to introduce myself and get to know them, but the introduction is hard when my name is subject to change. Plus everything else going on with me being a shinobi, I’m just not a suitable bachelor.”
“That’s not something I expected to hear from you, Tenzō,” Kakashi comments, and Yamato sighs as he drops his head. “Usually you’re a bit more optimistic about potential outcomes.”
“I just- I don’t think it’s fair to endanger a civilian all because I have a crush.”
“And I don’t think it’s fair to yourself to keep doing this. If you don’t want to try anything then stop coming here every night. The Hokage thinks you’re developing a problem and I don’t know how to tell her that you simply have a crush.”
“How do I introduce myself?”
“You say ‘Hi, I’m Yamato’.” Kakashi said it like it was nothing, and that has Yamato sighing as he finishes his water. “It’s just an introduction, you’re not proposing.”
“No, I can’t do this,” Yamato sighs, ready to get up but instead Kakashi has one hand gripping the neck of his vest to keep him on the stool while waving for the bartender with his other hand. He feels himself start to sweat as you approach, time feels like it’s slowed down considerably and he wants to leave but wants to stay and the indecision is killing him. Why didn’t he plan for this when Kakashi had figured it out so quickly? What was he thinking? He needed to go, but now you were standing in front of him and Kakashi was still holding onto his vest so he couldn’t exactly move without making some sort of a scene so he just sits and offers a smile when you greet them before asking what they were having.
“Something other than water for once?” you ask with a smile, leaning against the bar as Yamato’s cheeks flush and Kakashi chuckles while ordering sake for the two of them. You nod, still smiling as you look between them once more before turning to go retrieve what had been ordered.
“What are you doing?” Yamato asks, and Kakashi’s shrug tells him that he wasn’t going to get an answer that he liked out of his former captain. “Look, Kakashi, I-“
“I’m not letting you give up before you can even try. If you introduce yourself I’ll let it go.”
“Why is this so important?”
“Because you’re a friend and I care. Don’t let me down, Tenzō.” Well, even if Kakashi wasn’t his superior anymore, and order is an order and Yamato wasn’t in the business of disappointing Kakashi. This is why he sits up straighter when you make your approach with the two glasses and bottle of sake. He knows Kakashi is watching closely as you set the glasses down in front of the two shinobi, and he takes the chance.
“I’m Yamato, by the way,” he introduces as you pour his glass, and you look up at him with a smile that felt much warmer than the one you’d given him earlier.
“I’ve been waiting to hear what your name was.” The comment has Kakashi chuckling, Yamato stammering, and you’re grinning now at how flustered he was. “Yamato, I like it.”
“See, you did fine,” Kakashi praises as you walk away, and Yamato looks at him in exasperation. “I think they like you.”
“Y-you do?”
“Sure do. The way they looked at you was very telling.” Perks of looking at a civilian, he supposed, most people who aren’t trained to be shinobi aren’t trained to carefully mask their expressions so as to not reveal too much. “The smile was also different from the first one they gave. Why else would they wait so long to find out your name?”
“Now that I’m never going to live this down, I think it’s time for bed.” And so Yamato requests the bill, completely avoiding eye contact with you or Kakashi as you slide it his way with a wink before continuing to attend to your other patrons. There was a bounce in your step now and, as much as he wanted to think it was because he had introduced himself finally, he was more than certain it had to do with the fact that he ‘d be leaving. Which was fine, he supposed. He tried and that was what mattered.
Until he actually looked at the sheet of paper.
‘Yamato-
Tea house in the market district, 10am?’ Is neatly written on the bill, and Yamato turns red when he realizes that you’re asking him out on a date. With Kakashi reading over his shoulder as icing on the cake.
“I’ll let Lady Hokage know that you’ll be busy tomorrow morning when I report back and let her know that you’re not an alcoholic. Thanks for the drink, Tenzō.”
“Hey- wait, Kakashi!?” But the elder jonin is already gone, and Yamato is fishing for his wallet. Somehow he always ended up paying, and he knew he’d be paying tomorrow morning, too. Only he wanted to pay for your drinks.

Day 25: Nook
@flufftober
With a final scrutinizing look, Kakashi took a step back and examined his work. Satisfaction arose in him when his gaze wandered over the beautiful wooden furniture and the cozy cushions that he had carefully positioned on the elegant divan below the window. But real his pride and joy were the gorgeous book shelves that lined the reading nook. They were made of light wood with a wonderful grain pattern and he had filled them with those of his books that he loved the most. Of course, the Icha Icha series had received a rather prominent spot, neatly positioned on eye level so that he could always keep them in his line of sight.
Kakashi nodded to himself and glanced at the bulky silhouette to his left. He checked once again whether he had covered every single bit of it with the tarp and when he was satisfied, he reluctantly left the reading nook. He gave it one last yearning look before he turned to leave. There was only one thing he wanted more than to sit down and start reading – and when he thought of the excitement that awaited him, he smiled in anticipation.
Kakashi carefully closed the door to the secluded room behind him, making sure that nobody would see his brand new reading nook before he was ready for it. He quickly put on his shoes and a jacket before he opened the door of his apartment. He flinched when a gust of wind hit him right in the face, making his hair stand on end. He hesitated a moment and scanned his hallway for a thicker sweater or jacket but he hadn’t yet gotten his winter clothing from the depths of his closet. So far, this autumn had been quite a ride between golden days with a warm breeze and the exact opposite. He couldn’t even count anymore how many thunderstorms and rain showers had interrupted the golden glow of this October. A skeptical look at the sky told him that even though it was rather cold today, he didn’t have to fear getting wet. As far as he could see, they sky was of a mild blue, only veiled by a couple of fluffy white clouds. If it weren’t for the faint howling of the wind, one might have even thought it was still summer, even though Halloween was approaching rapidly now.
He took a deep breath and threw himself into the wind, closing the door behind him. This time, he didn’t bother to take the stairs. With a lighthearted smile, he jumped onto the railing of the half-opened hallway of his apartment complex and from there onto a sprawling tree that stood close to his building. Anticipation made him feel giddy and he felt more like a kid than he ever had when he jumped from one branch to another, making his way across the village in record time.
Kakashi almost missed the hint of brown suddenly popping up in his field of view. He quickly came to a halt, slithering on a particularly slippery tree branch. Before he could lead chakra into his feet, he had already lost his footing and with a startled yelp, he dropped to the ground rather inelegantly, landing right in front of a brown haired man.
Yamato didn’t seem the least bit surprised. He raised his head and tilted it slightly, eyeing Kakashi with mild curiosity as if he was used to his friends suddenly appearing out of nowhere in front of him. The soft smile spreading on his face made Kakashi’s stomach tingle and he couldn’t help but return the smile.
“Ah, Yamato. Exactly the one I’ve been looking for,” he exclaimed while straightening up. He ran his fingers through his hair and noticed that Yamato hadn’t taken a step back. Instead, he was standing so close to him that Kakashi could imagine feeling his warm body next to him.
“Well, here I am,” Yamato said with a smile. “Though I’m not sure what you’ve been seeking me out for.”
Kakashi cleared his throat, wrestling his excitement down and trying to sound entirely calm. “There’s something I’d like to show you … if you have no other plans, of course.”
Yamato gave him a look that had his legs turn to jelly. “I’d always make time for you,” he said tenderly. “What do you want to show me?”
Kakashi’s heart skipped a beat at his words and for a moment, he almost forgot what he had wanted to say. But then, the image of his reading nook flashed before his eyes and his excitement returned even stronger than before. He could barely keep himself from skipping when he instinctively grabbed Yamato’s wrist and started leading him back towards his apartment complex. Yamato looked at him in surprise but he followed him immediately.
They spent the short walk in a comfortable silence. Every couple of seconds, Kakashi had to bite his tongue to keep quiet and not spoil the surprise. He noticed from the corner of his eye that Yamato kept glancing at him which didn’t help his resolve. He sighed in relief when his building finally came in sight and he quickly led Yamato up the stairs and towards his apartment, barely able to contain his excitement any longer. He unlocked the door and held it open. Yamato passed by him, brushing his chest with his arm and he gave Kakashi a quick glance that made his heart flutter. They both took off their shoes and jackets and Kakashi felt his skin starting to tingle when he saw Yamato curiously looking around his apartment.
“This way,” he said and this time, he hesitated a moment before gently taking Yamato’s hand. He held his breath for a moment, waiting for Yamato to pull back, but Yamato squeezed his hand softly, a tender expression on his face.
“I’m following you,” he said with a calm smile.
A warm feeling started to spread through Kakashi’s body and he nodded. Hand in hand, they walked towards his living room and Kakashi’s anticipation grew with every passing second until he felt like he was about to explode. When they finally reached the door, he felt almost out of breath. He turned to Yamato who returned his look curiously and reached for the door handle. Slowly, he opened the door and led Yamato into the room, intently watching his reaction.
When they stepped into the living room, Yamato’s eyes widened. He squeezed Kakashi’s hand, seemingly not even noticing it. Spellbound, he stepped towards the reading nook, his face full of admiration. “This is … beautiful,” he muttered, staring at the nook in awe.
Kakashi’s heart skipped a beat and he couldn’t suppress his smile any longer. He inconspicuously steered Yamato towards the left side of the nook where a part of it was still hidden under the tarp. Yamato stared at it curiously and gave Kakashi an asking glance. His heart started beating faster when he looked at Yamato. “Take a look,” he said encouragingly and pointed at the bulky silhouette.
Surprised, Yamato nodded and reluctantly let go of Kakashi’s hand to grab the tarp with both hands. At one go, he pulled the tarp off – and froze when the tarp glided away and revealed what had been hiding underneath. Kakashi started beaming when he saw Yamato’s awestruck face, mesmerized by the beautiful wooden desk that sat next to the divan. Almost like in a trance, Yamato carefully ran his fingers over the smooth wood. “What is this?” he whispered, his gaze fixed on the gorgeous array of pens and sheets of paper on the right half of the desk.
Kakashi came up to him and tenderly leaned against him. “I love reading and I know that you love writing,” he said with a soft smile. “So I thought I’d build a space for us to do it together.”
He held his breath, nervously waiting for Yamato’s reaction. Yamato turned around slowly, his face full of emotion that made Kakashi’s whole body tingle. And suddenly, he jumped forward, tackling Kakashi with the biggest hug anyone could ever imagine – and before Kakashi could even catch a thought, he felt Yamato’s lips on his, pulling him into a tender kiss. “I love it!”

The war is over.
Thousands of ninja from every nation have been left dead, and even more have been left missing their lovers, parents, sons, daughters, siblings, and friends. But the war is over. The Akatsuki and Madara have been defeated and for now, conflict seems so far away. Now, all they’ve had to do over the past week is count the bodies, inform the loved ones, get the survivors into the flooded hospitals, and rebuild their nations.
Kakashi’s mind isn’t able to focus on any of that, though. For the last week, he’s been sleeping in Tenzou’s hospital room, practically living in the hospital to support his recovering boyfriend. The younger man was captured by Tobi and used for the ten tails during the war, which caused him to sustain some injuries that left him bedridden. During the battle, Kakashi damn near said fuck all to everyone else and ran to try and rescue is lover- his best friend- but he decided against it, not out of selflessness, but because he knew Tenzou would want him to keep fighting for the better good. And he did.
Somehow, everything turned out fine. Tenzou is recovering well and should be discharged from the hospital in the next few weeks despite the multiple broken bones and stitched up puncture wounds.
“We should go watch the sunrise on the roof,” Kakashi says to his lover, who’s sitting up, awake and in pain but not wanting to overdo it on the pain medications. “It’ll be good for you.”
He hopes a distraction mixed with getting a healthy amount of outside time will help, even if he knows that Tenzou was technically instructed not to leave his hospital room unless it was for some sort of emergency.
“Senpai, they said I need to rest,” Tenzou objects. As always, he’s committed to following the rules, even if it’s just the ones that the hospital nurses have given him. “I shouldn’t leave.”
“Nah, Tenzou, what you need is some fresh air,” Kakashi insists and stands up so he can lift his lover off the bed bridal style. Tenzou leans into his chest with a light blush dusting the tops of his cheeks. “It won’t do you any harm as long as you don’t strain yourself.”
“Senpai… I’m going to be in here for a while. You don’t have to bother with me, really. Put me down and go spend time with your students, I’m sure they want nothing more than to see you after all this!”
Kakashi can’t begin to describe how he feels right now. He’s already gone and seen all of the kids, and they’re fine. Of course Tenzou insists on him prioritizing their students.
“I don’t care how long it takes for you to get better,” Kakashi says as he exits Tenzou’s hospital room through the window and brings them to the roof. “I already went to see the kids, and believe it or not, they’re all already discharged because somehow, losing literal limbs isn’t as debilitating as what had happened to you. Please, don’t feel like a bother. It’s my pleasure to be here with you… As long as I’m with you, I’ve got a smile on my face. I’ll stay by your side.”
For now, Tenzou accepts his words. Kakashi is careful to be gentle as he sits Tenzou down to sit on the roof. Then, he sits next to the brunette. It’s still dark outside. The streets are almost empty, and many of the buildings are completely ruined.
“I’m scared,” Tenzou confesses. Tears well up in his dark brown eyes and threaten to spill over as the dark night sky turns into morning. The horizon is painted with the beginnings of royal purple, pale blue, and blazing orange. “I’ve been fighting my entire life, and now… It’s over. It’s finally over, Kakashi. I’m going to recover, and then I’ll be discharged, and we’re going to have to face a whole new world together. How are we going to build peace for the next generation after spending our entire lives fighting? The kids can’t do it by themselves, Kakashi, I’m so scared for them…!”
Then, Tenzou cries. He weeps out loud for the first time in a long time and allows the tears to fall without shame.
“Save your tears,” Kakashi says. Tenzou is low on energy from everything that happened during the war and he knows that, in the upcoming months, there will be plenty of time to cry; funerals and memorial services, stressful work days, agonizing procedures and physical therapy for Tenzou to get all of his strength back following his intensive injuries. “It’ll be okay. I’m struggling with it, too, but… We’ll find a way to make this new world we’ve started into a peaceful one. They won’t have to do it by themselves.”
“Kakashi,” Tenzou breathes shakily as Kakashi reaches down to wipe the tears from his cheeks. It’s not the first time he’s seen Tenzou cry, sure, but it’s not a sight he’s seen very often. He frowns and runs a hand through Tenzou’s hair, listening to the younger man’s earnest plea. “Please, stay by my side like you have been. Don’t let me go now.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it, dearest,” Kakashi reassures his lover and wraps his arms around him before leaning down to press a kiss against his forehead, which is still covered in bandages.
They sit in silence for a moment, watching the sunrise that paints the coast as they’re getting older. Fuck, they’re getting older. It feels like just a few days ago, they were in the Anbu, trying to kill each other- then trying to save each other, then apart again, then teaching their little team of baby ninja. Now, that team of ‘babies’ has taken over… Their prime is over, and Kakashi can’t help how relieved he is at that realization. Maybe they can stop fighting now.
There’s a lot that’s still uncertain, a lot that Kakashi doesn’t know. What he does know is that his Tenzou is still here with him after all these years and that, once Tenzou is out of this hospital, they’re going to go back to their house- not home, because they’re each other’s homes.
A twisted part of Kakashi wishes he could live through every memory all over again. He misses the old days where they would be entangled limbs of anger and passion, misses the highs from all the fighting and the conflict. The other part of him knows better than to live in the past, especially when he and Tenzou are set to make a beautiful new future together. So, he allows those distant memories to float off in the wind that ruffles Tenzou’s silky brown hair.
And like the many sunrises they’ve watched before this, it’s one of the greatest moments of Kakashi’s life. He smiles and continues to wait for the light to fully take them in as Tenzou rests his head against his shoulder. Kakashi wraps an arm over the younger man to pull him closer.
Eventually, the sun has fully risen, bathing them in its beautiful light.
“We should go back soon,” Tenzou reminds him.
Kakashi almost complains. Then, he remembers that they’ll probably do this tomorrow- and every other morning after that, too.
“Right… I’ll take you back.”

Chapter 4 A new day, a new training partner
Anna braids her strand of her, back to Yamato which just sat and watched her. She was so beautiful as the morning sun shined on her hair, making it glow like Amber. “Your dreams are wild- just to let you know. With the spirit in me i can see what others dream while i´m also asleep.”, Anna explained calm and not with a bit of judgment in her voice. Getting thrown out of his thoughts, the young mans heart dropped to the floor. He wanted to die, right now, on spot. This was the most embarrasing thing wich ever happened to him. What must she think of him now? Staring on the mattress before him, his thoughts raced. Then he felt a hand on his shoulder, Anna looking at him. She… smiled? “Don´t judge yourself for something that is completly normal of being a human. We are a team now.” Heart racing, looking into her blue eyes with hope. Yamatos mouth went dry, he couldn´t say anything, he couldn´t even think. He mastered every situation, every mission somehow but that? In these situations he was just so unsure and flustered, it was hard to know what was the right thing to do in this situation. She giggled, looking into his black eyes. “You don´t have to say anything. I´m sorry for making you so flustered. Just wanted to be honest with you.” Ruffling his hair she steps back, turning around again and this time Yamato finally notices the massive black tattoo on her back and shoulders. Most of it is covered by her grey top, he´s asking himself what it might be, it looks like an formular for an sealing. The Crescent moon with the little sun in it and the lotus above them on her forehead might have something to do with the sealing. He saw it in the crystal of her forehead in her dragon form. Actually he wanted to get up and ask her but… feeling his dick still poking up won´t help at all. This situation doesn´t feel normal… is he in a Gen- Jutsu? No… that´s not it- it is reality and he doesn´t want to admit it.
Now he is thinking back and forth, what he should do about this “problem” of his, then murmuring to himself: "i think i need some help with that..." "Help? with what?", Anna turns around, eyebrows raised as she looks at him while adjusting her earring. Yet again the blood flows into his cheeks, beside being pumped in his dick. "Well.. eh- nothing! I- I just talked to myself-", he laughs embarrassed. "Mhm-" she forms her lips into one line. "If you say so-" Almost losing himself in the fantasy of her sucking his- No! nonononoooooo-
”May i use your shower?”, his voice is almost desperate- Somehow Annaisha heard something in it that made her heart pump faster, it makes her cheeks slightly pinkish. “Uhm yeah- sure! I´ll give you an towel.” Walking into the Bathroom, she gets out an fresh towel out of the little cabinet by the sink, laying it to the side so he can reach it in the shower. “Do you need something to wasch yourself with?”, She asks, the bathroom walls letting her words echo a bit. “N- No. Just need it wake up you know….” She nods, “Okay!” Then she graps her oil and face massage stone and gets out. “The bath is all yours Yamato”, a kind smile playing around her lips. “Thank you”, kind of relieved, not thinking of it he stands up.
Anna steps out of the bath, yawning, walking up to her bookshelf on the end of her bed to grab a little mirror. Noticing him in the side of her eye, fast she looks away again to stay respectful she even closes her eyes. Yamato dissapears, almost fleeing into the bath, closing the door behind him. Both of the young adults taking a deep breath in and out. Blushing hard and think of the situation they´re in, kindly slapping themselves on the cheek to get something else in their mind. Why out of all the situations that could have happend does it need to be this one? How can it be that they feel attracted to each other that fast? Also why does it need to be physically? Kind of ashamed they both continue what they wanted to do.
Anna sits on the bed, calmly applying her face oil and then begins to follow her facial features and neck line. She sighs. It´s hard to admit to herself that she has an hard time controlling her impulsivness around him. Her pink cheeks change into an deep red. Feeling how her stomach gets warm as she remembers. And in bed, as they just laid there… she got wet by his smell… god- she should get exorcised by a priest! Yes, it is okay to feel that way. But… this man is a superior and also she just knows him for nearly a day, this isn´t some type of onenightstand. Even if it goes that far that she´s being friends with him… she can´t get over the fact that she wants to get railed by this man so bad or it will drive her nuts, going to fuck him instead. Biting her bottom lip and stopping in her movement as she thinks all this- she could´ve sweared she heart a wimper from the bathroom… As much as he tried to stop thinking about it, nothing helped. Well it was clear before but even under the shower he was able to stop his horny thoughts. The cold droplets of water running down his body, one arm leaning on the wall, the other hand running through his wet hair. What had gotten into him? Even tho the cold of the water was some kind of distracting his thoughts always came back of how her touch felt. How it would feel having her hand around his dick? Seeing the lust in her eyes, knowing that she´s crazy for him? God… He wished it would be possible. Looking down on him he´s kinda startled seeing his cock this way- Pulsing so much and so in need of release his veins are showing through is skin, precum comes out, begging to be swallowed by her. He shortly gazes towards the door through the glass of the shower, would it be okay if he…? His hand already touching his cock makes him whine, he hoped that it wasn´t too loud. His gaze goes around the room as he begins, slowly moving his hand up and down. As he sighs from the lust Yamato closes his eyes and grips harder, imagining Annaisha´s lips around his cock, sucking his glans while looking up with these doe eyes. Would she allow him letting him fuck her mouth? Silently moaning, so silent that it´s only his breathing his hand get faster. Massaging his balls, thinking about her hands touching him everywhere. Breaths get quicker. His cheeks are flushed while he gazes down to his cock, almost hypnotized while his imagination runs wild in his mind.
Fantazising about her moans that he heard in his dream making him high in this feeling. Thinking about tasting her, not only her lips but also her pussy. He make out a shape in his mind, wanting to fuck it so hard that she can´t walk after it. Out of her pussy running his thick hot cum and her juice. Making her his own. His muscles tightening as his thoughts go on, getting faster in his movement he´s about to see stars as he comes close to his orgasm. “I want to cum on your face…”, he whispers. He bites in his hand so his moan doesn´t comes out of his throat. Grunting deeply as he peaks his high, spurting all over the place. He leans on the wall with both arms holding him, looking down on his cock while his cum shoots out. “Fuck…” he slowly says in deep raspy voice. Bit dizzy he sees how the water washes the rest of his white cum away. Getting ashamed of himself while he watches. But what could´ve he done different? He wouldn´t get away from her until he meets up with Tsunade for his report. Quickly washing himself, then putting the water out and drying himself. In the towel he can smell her. But now it´s not driving him crazy, it calms him down.
A few hours later Anna and Yamato are on their way to the training ground. First only meeting up with Naruto and Kakashi. Anna is kind of nervous but also relieved they met yesterday. Even tho it wasn´t the best situation. Almost having 10 in the morning they arrive and Naruto is already hyper while waiting. He runs towards them “Captain Yamato! Annaisha there you are! I was waiting for so long now!” Anna giggles by the enthusiasm of this young boy. Only 16 to 17 and that much energy. Damn she would´ve needed that too.
“Good Morning Naruto- Good to see you again.” Anna smiles. She knows that Naruto will annoy her at some point but she likes him so far. Reminding her of herself when she has wayyy too much energy. Yamato just kingly smiling down on them. ”What are we training today?! Ohh boy i can´t wait!”, Narutos eyes are glowing. “Well actually we should wait until Kakashi is here buuuuut because our new team member is here i´ll show her how she can control your chakra. Also you two can train together for a bit. Anna could show what she can do and you Naruto learn how she moves so you two can fight better together.” The suggestion coming from Yamato first takes Narutos ecxitment and then brings it up to the top again. “YES! Lets get going!” “Are you okay with that Anna?”, Yamato looks down to her, her blue doe eyes meeting his. He can see the question building up in her mind. Why does he ask her about her opinion? He´s the captain here and in charge until Kakashi comes up. She answers: “Uhhh yeah! Sure thing!” “Good then let´s train with each other first. Anna show what you got!” She nods happily, walks up to the front of them and explains something first. ”So my chakra element is Water based and i also have Wind chakra. But-” Before explaining further her fist smashes on the ground, letting it break into a huge hole and one big piece of earth lifts up. The crashing is really loud in their ears. Anna doesn´t wait long and kicks her foot against. The rock flys across the training ground, precipitates some trees until it stops after sliding its way through the treeline. Now she looks at it, claps her hands together to get rid of the dirt then looks back to Naruto and Yamato. They both have their mouth wide open and all their colour got washed out of their faces. A slight nervous laughter comes out of Annas mouth. “Ahaha… yeah- I´m pretty strong so i use it to my advantage. I love using Taijutsu. It balances it out because i don´t like using my Ninjutsu that much. Not that i can´t do it it´s just… boring…” Yamato listens to what she´s saying. It could be useful, she can go into ranged and closed combat, by having Nin- and Taijutsu´s. Naruto is already jumping around the red haired woman, begging her to show him how she did it. “Okay, okay- I´ll show you later. Now-” with an blink of an eye she stands behind Naruto, “show me what you got frog boy-” Then throws him right into the waterfall. A loud boom with water splashing coming from the crashing. Anna knows that Naruto isn´t knocked out yet. He jumps right back, rasengan ready to throw on her but she´s too fast, the spirit in her makes it easy to move that way. Naruto crashes his Rasengan into the earth, making the hole even bigger. “Water dragon jutsu!”, Anna already formed he handsigns and a huge water dragon appears out of the little lake, speeding towards Naruto. The young boy sighs annoyed : “of course she forms a dragon…” The watery mass attacks him, he tries to get away, getting a short gaze of the woman who´s attacking him. Her eyes are cold, ice cold in a blue that´s not even natural anymore. Her smirk showing sharp canine teeth. It reminds Naruto of himself, of what they all told him. How is she able to control this power? “Naruto! Don´t get distracted! Com´mon! I know you can do more!”, Anna now yells. Bit surprised that she sounds like a teacher Yamato is watching them. He finds the way Anna encourages Naruto interesting. Does she want that Naruto beats her? Maybe, considering she is stronger than him by being alignet with her powers, which Naruto is just learning to do so. Naruto catching himself, slides down the dragon which just tries to catch the boy with it´s teeth. Biting for him till Naruto is too close to Anna. She breaks the Justu, letting him fall down.
“Shadow clone Jutsu!” Around Anna appear too many Narutos to count. “The classic, i see.” In the corner of her eye she witnesses Naruto landing, already forming another rasengan. “Damn, the boy clearly has no other tactic…” Yamato already told her a little bit about him, but what he definetley told her was about the shadow clones, especially because he´s training with them at the moment. Which is also why they need her to control him.
The shadow clones are about to attack her. Anna throws some kunai, letting her wind chakra flowing through it. The blades seemingly growing larger while they´re flying through most of the shadow clones. “RASENGAN!” Naruto shouts from above her. Reacting fast she forms a ball of water around her. His Rasengan goes right through it. “Shit!”, she says through her teeth. Within seconds she forms her hands into dragonclaws, grabs the Rasengan and catapults it into the distance. Then grabbing Narutos wrist and hulking him on the ground so you hear one of his bones crack. Naruto grunts in pain. Anna directly realizes what she had done, gasps and kneels down to him. Her hands getting normal again, as she pulls him on her lap, healing his wound and his broken rib. ”God, Naruto i am so sorry! I just reacted!” Her hands tremble as the green light of the healing jutsu flows through her fingers. Naruto notices through his blurry vision how upset she is about it. He lowkey grins. “No worries, now i know that i have to train hard to get as strong as you are!” He gives her a thumbs up. Yamato runs towards them. He wasn´t able to see clearly what happend because of the water bubble Anna build around them. “What happend?”, he asks, kinda shocked to see Naruto that way from a, what was at least supposed to be, train fight. “I instinctly reacted and didn´t thought it out….”, Anna silently answers.
Yamato sighs deeply. “At least we know that this way of training with Naruto isn´t the best for you two.” Naruto and Yamato catch Anna sobbing, out of the guilt she feels because she hurt Naruto that bad. It was hard to calm her down, even after Naruto´s ouchies were fixed, only after Naruto huggging her bc he was also pretty much overwhelmed with her reaction she slowly calmed down. They all sat down a tree, taking a short break. “How were you actually able to throw away my Rasengan?”, Naruto asks, lowkey excitment coming through his voice. Out of comfort she bites into an onigiri, sniffing the last tears away. “Well… sniff - i can form my hands into the claws of the dragon, that way i can hold onto things that you normally couldn´t.” She shows her hand wich isn´t holding the food she currently eats. It has little cuts on it, coming from holding the amount of chakra Narutos Rasengan had.
Before Naruto can say something about it, Yamato lightly grips her wrist, getting something out of the bag Anna had when they were on their way to the training ground and then wraps some bandages around it. He says nothing, he´s just… doing it. Naruto looks back and forth between the two. Anna is blushing and watches Yamato wrapping the mull around her hand, even if he doesn´t need too because it´s going to heal in 2 hours- ”You two are acting reeaaalll sus here-”, Narutos statement makes them stop moving and looking at the young boy.” ”Wha- no that´s not whats happening here-”, The captain tries to explain himself, but for that it is too late. “Are you sure about that Tenzo?” Kakashis voice behind his younger friend lets Yamato heart drop. Anna can´t help herself and laughs.

Do you like pregnant? If you do, then Yamato Tenzou and his wife found out that she is pregnant, what it like to have Yamato Tenzou take care of his pregnant wife through 9 months and deliver baby when she is in labor? And how good father he is? I don’t mind if you want to add nsfw or gender. Love romantic.
If you don’t like pregnant, then that’s okay I’ll change different question let me know.
I don’t mind pregnancy asks, although I find they can be a bit more triggering for some so I will put my answers below the cut and add some trigger warnings in my tags! 😁 fluff, fluff and more fluff for the beloved Yam Yam!
Yamato would be a nervous wreck for the entire pregnancy. He would worry constantly, resistant in leaving your side for longer than a single day and likely refused any missions that would not allow him to return to you in the evenings.
He would certainly have someone posted by your shared home at all the times he wasn’t there personally, and he would accompany you to all appointments. Yamato loves nothing more than settling your back against his chest, cradling you to him as his hands rest gently on the swell of your tummy. Enraptured by the fluttering kicks that dance against his palms, speaking so gently to the little baby inside that he simply can’t wait to meet.
“Little precious one, you gotta stop kicking your mama like that. I can tell you’re gonna be so strong in whatever it is you want to do. I love you.”
He rubs at your aching muscles without prompt, gauges the temperature of your bath water before helping you into the tub and speaks to you from the bathroom floor as you relax.
Excitement is the prevailing emotion, yet doubt always manages to creep in. Yamato worries that he won’t make a good father, he didn’t exactly have a good role model growing up. What if he makes mistakes?
When the time finally arrives, half the medical-nins need to deal with him! Yamato is practically hyperventilating at seeing you in pain and distress. It isn’t until you yell for him with your hand outstretched, such desperation for only him, that he finds the resolve to come through.
He holds your hand the entire time, wipes your brow, kisses your sweaty tear-stained cheeks and encourages you to push when directed. That first gasping, high-pitched cry breaks him completely. Yamato cries very openly, so goddamn proud of you and instantly in love with the baby that nestles against your naked chest. His heart could not be more full, his family is complete.
Yamato is the best father and you always knew he would be. He doubted himself, his confidence was never good and it was such a shame because he was a wonderful man. The bond he had with his child was beautiful and you couldn’t love him more.
The sight of the dark-haired man with equally dark eyes cradling the tiny bundle that squalled and waved chubby limbs with abandon was tear-inducing. A wobbly smile traced your lips as he met your gaze and witnessed the adoration he expressed.
Yamato is an amazing dad, and a wonderful partner and I’ll fight anyone who disagrees!

Love me Mercilessly Kakashi x Akami Chapter 18: Small word count: 4k warnings: Violence, mentions of gore, trauma/Ptsd previous chapters [x]
Returning home from a brutal mission in Kiri Akami unintentionally lashes out at Shisui. Struggling to keep her deeds in ANBU separate from her life in the village Akami finds solace spending time at the Uchiha Compound; specifically with the company of a 3 year old Sasuke.
Sasuke was getting so big, walking and talking with ease. He still had trouble saying Itachi’s name so he stuck mostly to ‘Nii-san.’ S’s proved just as challenging so Shisui sounded more like ‘hisui.’ But Sasuke had no problem with his A’s, though he almost always called her ‘Kami-chan.’
When Akami came around to the backyard Shisui grabbed her and swung her around. He kissed her a dozen times before setting her back on the ground.
Sasuke ran over to them as fast as his little legs would take him.
“Kami-chan! Kami-chan,” he sang.
Akami scooped him up the way Shisui had her. She sat beside Itachi on the blanket he dragged out back Sasuke still in her arms. He reached up and smooshed her face between tiny hands and kissed her on the cheek. His mouth was open and he did nothing to move his lips; it was more like he tried to eat her cheek. He’d never done that before.
Shisui grabbed Sasuke out of her arms and pretended he was mad holding him in the air giving him a harmless shake.
“You can’t go around kissing people's girlfriends' little man!” Shisui teased, tickling the kid until he squealed with joy. Once free he crawled back towards Akami and was rewarded with a peck to the top of his head. She’d never done that before either.
“Kamichan what’s that?” Sasuke asked, poking her forearm with pudgy fingers.
“Sasuke, it's rude to point,” Itachi said calmly.
Akami unwrapped the bandages from her wrist and Sasuke scooted between her legs for a closer look, turning her hand to watch the crisp black lines curve around her wrist.
“It’s my summoning tattoo. You know how Shisui and your brother have a contract with the crows?” Sasuke nodded. “I have one with snakes.”
Sasuke cocked his head to the side, he always thought crows were the only option.
“Can you ummon anything?”
“I don’t see why not.” She said,
“Does Hisui-san have a tattoo?” He asked, directing all his attention to Akami, not bothering to consult with Shisui at all. Akami always had an answer for his endless reign of questions.
“No, you don’t have to have one but it makes it easier sometimes. Do you want me to show you how it works?”
Sasuke nodded furiously.
Itachi himself had been curious and he watched as she extended her forearm. Gently nipping the skin of her thumb enough to draw a drop of blood. Sasuke gasped, upset but far too curious to avert his eyes. Afraid he’d miss it if he so much as blinked. She swiped her bloodied thumb up the length of her inked forearm. A copper bellied water snake appeared in a cloud of smoke.
Summoning Ryu was a lot more practical now that he trained to use his chakra to maintain a smaller size, sort of like a henge. He would no longer level a Forest; unless of course Akami wanted him to do just that.
She held out her palm for Ryu to slither into. The dark snake twisted himself up her arm just as the tattoo had. Balancing himself at the end of her wrist to hold his head up and inspect Sasuke. Sasuke wasn’t frightened in the least as he stared at the snake in amazement.
“This is Ryu, he is loyal to me and me to him. Ryu, this is Sasuke. I am loyal to him as well.” She said, earning a wide smile from Sasuke.
“Can I pet him?” Sasuke asked Akami.
“Why don’t you ask him yourself?” She said,
“He can talk?!”
“I most certainly can, far better than you I imagine.” Ryu spat.
Sasuke frowned and Akami fixed her summons with a venomous glare. Ryu hissed lazily.
Akami gave Sasuke a firm jiggle, encouraging him to try again.
“Can I pet you?”
Ryu didn’t answer but lowered his head for Sasuke to gently stroke the black scales behind his chartruese eyes.

take care & have a perfect day, my dear. ily.  <3
Title:  The Jonin Emulsion Summary:  Katsura was on a mission.  Well, not a mission, like a shinobi assignment.  She actually just turned one of those down because she was busy working on her new cake recipe.  But she was on a... uh... quest, yeah, a quest to help her sister Aori finally confess her feelings to Yamato.  Now if only she could get anybody to help her, this whole thing would be a lot easier. Word Count:  7,202 Warnings:  none.  fluff and fluff and katsura being a bit of a brat, but that’s all.  sisterly feels all ‘round.  kakashi is a troll, the end.
Katsura had to wonder if she had ever looked as absolutely ridiculous before confessing her feelings to Shino as her sister did at this very moment.
With shimmering eyes and bright red cheeks—an effect Aori had attempted to blame on a sunburn, despite the distinctly overcast weather Konoha had suffered the past week and a half—she looked more like she was meeting an idol than a co-worker.  Like Shino when seeing a rare species of beetle for the first time or Yuuta when presented with the challenge of flirting with someone new.
And the cause of the brilliant flush over Aori’s face was none other than the man Katsura recognized vaguely as the now-infamous Team 7’s interim babysitter; a man who went by the name of Yamato and seemed even stranger than Kakashi Hatake, Team 7’s original leader and now the leader of the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
Katsura snorted.  That her sister had ever thought Shino Aburame was an odd choice of suitor seemed far more ludicrous now.  Yamato, as far as she was aware, didn’t even have a last name.  And what was up with that weird chin-protector thing he wore?  Not to mention the happuri, which was so outdated as to be laughable.
Did Aori have a Senju kink?  Because between the brown hair and the face guard, Yamato looked like some bizarre combination of the First and Second Hokages.
As she finally turned away toward her original purpose, sorting through a crate full of oranges to find only those which were perfectly ripe, Katsura tried to push thoughts of Aori and Yamato to the back of her mind.  She had other things to do than worry over her sister’s non-existent love life.  After all, she was on a mission.
Not a mission, like a shinobi assignment—she was taking fewer and fewer of those now that the War was over, and she wondered if perhaps she might be able to retire early, to pursue other interests dearer to her heart.  Rather, she was on a mission to perfect a new recipe.  Thus far, the orange chiffon cake had eluded her; either too dense or not flavorful enough.  Today, though, she was going to finally craft the perfect version, a quest which had brought her out into the market to buy citrus fruits immediately after their delivery, thereby ensuring their freshness.  Aori had come with her, having just finished her morning training, though now Katsura wondered if there had been ulterior movies involved in her sister’s offer of accompaniment.
Of course, trying to ignore her sister’s romantic plight was only possible for a very short time—in fact, it was really only feasible in the brief quarter hour between Aori bidding farewell to Yamato when Katsura shouted that she was done shopping and the moment they returned home.  Because by the twelfth time Aori had heaved a long-suffering sigh, there was no longer any way for Katsura to ignore her sister’s idiocy and it became clear an intervention was required.
Katsura Morita rarely had cause to interfere in her sister’s life.  Aori, for the most part, was more than capable of taking care of herself—and Katsura, when you came right down to it, for whom she’d been a surrogate mother since a young age.  Not to mention her genin squad, the true pride and joy of Aori’s life.
But this was painful.  As bad as the sting of a Warrior Wasp.  (Or at least, it seemed that way, Katsura wasn’t about to volunteer to subject herself to that particular insect’s whims any time soon, no matter how often Shino espoused the creature’s beauty and instinct.)
“Stop sulking,” she said, adding orange zest and freshly squeezed juice to her batter and whisking deftly.  Katsura wielded her kitchen implements with the same finesse as her sword, a thing which made the process of mixing much more reasonable without a machine to work on her behalf.
Aori hardly acknowledged her, though, waving a dismissive hand as she continued to frown down at her own blades, laid out before her to be sharpened, though she had yet to pick up her whetstone.
Katsura rolled her eyes.  Since when was she meant to be the more mature of the two?
“You’re being ridiculous,” she added, turning her attention to the flour and sifting in a third before beginning to mix again, “you should just ask him out.”
Aori huffed, still pouting in Katsura’s estimation, and picked up the stone she’d left untouched until this very moment to begin sharpening her swords.  The tactic was transparent, but Katsura figured it was at least better that she’d finally stopped wallowing over Yamato enough to be productive.  The melodic shnk, shnk, shnk! made by the whetstone as it glided over steel steered Katsura through the rest of her preparations.  Slowly, she added the remaining flour, folded an egg white mixture into it, and then poured the batter into her prepared chiffon pan, tapping it carefully to remove the air bubbles before she set it in the oven to bake.
By the time Katsura removed her oven mitts, Aori was sheathing both her weapons, and still pointedly—and infuriatingly—ignoring Katsura’s suggestion.
“Why are you being so stubborn?”
Aori bit her lower lip in frustration and for the first time Katsura wondered if perhaps she was pushing her sister a bit too hard.  Still, she couldn’t pretend Aori wasn’t being foolish.  She was beautiful, strong, and one of the kindest people Katsura knew, even if they hadn’t been sisters.  That she was so terrified of asking for something she wanted—so afraid to put herself out there—felt wrong.
Her sister deserved so much—deserved the whole world and more, as far as Katsura was concerned.
And as Aori slipped away to her room, still without saying a word on the subject of Yamato at all, Katsura realized she would have to take matters into her own hands if she was going to ensure her big sister the happy ending she deserved.
She consulted Shino first, of course.  But her boyfriend was reticent at best to get involved in even the affairs of his closest friends, let alone a shinobi who technically outranked him.
“Your sister knows better than you what she wants,” he said, eyes focused on his kikaichu, “Perhaps you should defer to her judgment.”
Katsura’s cheeks puffed out indignantly and when she released a harsh whoosh of breath, it blew her hair back from her face like a gust of wind.
Shino chuckled, the deep timber of his voice reverberating in his chest in that way that made the hairs at the back of her neck stand to attention.  Katsura couldn’t help but soften the wrinkle between her eyebrows as she watched Shino pick up a trail of his insects with his finger and lead them over to the table where he was examining them in sets of twelve or fifteen, checking for any who might be sick or overexerted after his recent lengthy mission.
She stepped up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her face against his spine and nuzzling close.  As a result, her voice was rather muffled when she grumbled, “She’s too chicken to do it herself.  She needs me.”
Shino only chuckled again.  “If you say so.”
Katsura did say so, and she knew she was right, even if her boyfriend didn’t.  Even if Aori didn’t.
This was going to be like creating a new cake recipe.  It didn’t matter how many pans came out burned or how many fire alarms she set off, Katsura was going to figure out the perfect combination of timing and ingredients to achieve the ideal result.
In this case, rather than an orange chiffon cake—which was marvelous, by the way—she was going to get her sister a date.
Though, that was easier said than done, if she were honest.  Despite now being in a happy relationship with Shino, it had taken quite the push to get there—a push from none other than the woman Katsura was now determined to help in return.  The irony did not escape her, and Katsura wondered briefly if perhaps romantic ineptitude were some latent genetic trait of the Morita Clan as a whole.  She refused to dwell on such a thought for too long, though, in the interest of devising an appropriate plan instead.
Next on her list was a visit to Iruka Umino, Aori’s closest friend since childhood and the man Katsura thought Aori was in love with for several long years.  Aori had sharply intervened when Katsura began questioning Iruka as to when he was going to ask her sister to be his wife and have his babies.  She was only seven, of course, at the time, but that did nothing to tamp down the horrid embarrassment of both Iruka and Aori, who were probably still blushing over a child’s innocent inquiries.
Katsura smirked at the memory of their tomato-red faces and sputtering as she cut a generous slice of cake to bring with her.  Iruka could be trusted, and though he would probably help no matter what if she asked, there was no reason not to ensure her success with a little help from her kitchen.  She always knew exactly how to get on Iruka’s good side before asking him for a favor.
Iruka was easy enough to find, as usual.  While many things had changed since the end of the Fourth Shinobi War, the long-time teacher was still as steadfastly devoted to his students as ever.  And though his position was rumored to be changing slightly—gossip flew that he would be promoted to headmaster soon, a thing which interested Katsura especially because it would make room for Shino to join the Academy as an instructor—he was still diligently grading tests by the time she found him hunched over his desk late in the evening.
Katsura admired him for a few moments before she knocked on the open door, watching as Iruka read each paper carefully, so focused on the task before him that he muttered to himself and did not recognize her presence.  He jumped when she finally rapped her knuckles on the doorframe, but his fright soon turned to a warm smile when his eyes met hers.
“Ah, Katsura!  What brings you here?”
She smiled and held out a piece of orange chiffon cake, carefully wrapped in beeswax paper.  “I tried a new recipe and thought you might like to be one of my taste testers.”
Iruka lit up as he always did when offered one of her new creations.  He sniffed the air as if trying to track something through the woods, which seemed extremely strange, but Katsura tried to keep her expression as neutral as possible.
“It smells delicious,” he said once he’d stopped smelling the air like a dog, eyes sparkling.
Katsura plopped down in the seat across from his desk and set the slice of cake before him.  She leaned back in her chair, frowning when all but her toes could no longer reach the ground, and watched as he unwrapped the offering.  Iruka licked his lips and broke off a generous piece with his fingers before popping it into his mouth.  He groaned, eyelids fluttering closed.
Katsura giggled.  She did love that he was so complimentary of her culinary experimentations.  It was always a nice boost to see someone enjoy her sweets so much.
“I assume that means you think it’s good?”
“Divine,” he said, “your best yet.”
She rolled her eyes.  “You always say that.”
Iruka just gave her a warm smile in return.  “Because it’s always true.”
Katsura did not blush at the compliment.  Definitely did not.  Perhaps she was too quick to judge Aori for claiming a sunburn, though, now that she thought about it.  There had been a little peek of light through the clouds a few days ago when they went for a walk by the Naka River…
Iruka took another bite, licking his thumb and forefinger as he leaned back in his chair.
“Now, why don’t you tell me why you’re really here?”
Katsura puffed her cheeks up and huffed a breath.  Iruka may not have been a blood relative, but that didn’t stop him from reading her like an annoying big brother.
She tapped her toes against the tile floor, slumping in her seat. “How do you always know?” she asked.
Iruka’s smile broadened, crinkling the corners of his eyes pleasantly.  “I’m a teacher.  It’s part of my job.”
Katsura rolled her eyes.  “I’m not one of your students,” she grumbled.
“Maybe not, but you still act like one upon occasion.”  The chastisement came with an infuriating smirk and Katsura pouted.  She knew she did because Iruka laughed.  It wasn’t her fault that sometimes her lower lip would jut out of its own accord when she was annoyed!  Her fingers curled into fists, irritated at her lack of control over her expressions when in such familiar company.
Iruka, seeming to take pity on her, finally shook his head and tamed his smile into something more friendly than teasing.
“So what is it, Katsura?  You know I’ll help if I can.  You didn’t even have to bribe me.”
That was true, at least.  Having Iruka as sort of a surrogate big brother had more benefits than not.  Though he teased her heartily, she also knew he was someone who could be relied upon in almost any situation.  He’d part the clouds for her on a rainy day if he could just locate the proper jutsu.
“It’s Aori,” she said, and Iruka’s posture immediately straightened.
“Is she all right?  I know she just returned from a mission with her squad, but I thought—”
Katsura waved her hands to stop him from continuing down that particular thread.  “No, no, Aori is fine, she’s fine.  It’s not that.”
Iruka visibly relaxed and Katsura made a mental note not to start a request with such an open-ended statement in the future.
“Do you know that Yamato guy?” she tried this time.  She knew he did—Iruka often filled in at the mission desk, so he knew everyone—she just didn’t know to what extent, and that would be an important bit of information in order for her to formulate an appropriate plan.
Something flashed in Iruka’s eyes that caught Katsura’s attention, but she ignored it for the time being.
“A little,” he said evasively, “why?”
Katsura chewed the inside of her cheek to rein in her own curiosity.  Iruka was being cagey for some reason, and she desperately wanted to know what it was, but she reminded herself that was not her main objective tonight.
“Aori is…” how to put this delicately, she wondered, “Aori has a… a crush, I guess.  On him.  Yamato.”
Smooth, she thought, doing her best not to roll her eyes at herself this time.
Iruka blinked several times as if waiting for her to elaborate and then he leaned forward on his desk with his hands clasped before him, giving Katsura the distinct impression it was the same exact posture he used when trying to whittle information from a troublesome student.
“And?  What does that have to do with me?  Or you, for that matter?”
Katsura’s legs jiggled again, the balls of her feet bouncing madly against the tile.
“You know I love my sister, but she’s also a little, well…”
“Dense,” Iruka provided helpfully and Katsura couldn’t help but laugh in response.
“Yes, that.  I watched her today in the market talking to him and it’s so painfully obvious to everyone else how much she likes him, but she won’t say anything.”
Iruka gave her an understanding smile, unclasping his hands so he could steal another bite of his bribery cake.
“While that very well may be,” he said around a mouthful of citrusy chiffon, “I’m not sure it’s our place to interfere.  Aori will come to that on her own time.  She has to.”
“But what if she never does, Iruka?  She’s been through so much and she just…” Katsura took a deep breath in an attempt to regain control over her emotions.  When it came to Aori (and Shino and beetles and baking), she tended to get a little overly sensitive if she wasn’t careful.  “She deserves to be happy.  And I don’t want her shyness to hold her back from that.”
The least Katsura could do, she thought, was to make sure the sister who had essentially raised her, who now worked so hard to make sure her genin were safe, and who had done so much during the War to protect those who were vulnerable, got the happy ending she deserved.
The happy ending she wanted, but didn’t feel ready to voice.
The only sound in the room for a few long moments was that of Iruka chewing over his cake and his thoughts.  Eventually, the beeswax paper was empty and Katsura stood.
“Just think about it, okay?  You know she’d do the same for us.”  She looked down at her feet bashfully, thinking of that day at the store all those months ago when her sister had prodded her to reveal her true feelings to Shino, “She already did it for me.”
The scar across Iruka’s nose wrinkled slightly in a thoughtful expression Katsura was all-too familiar with.  It meant he was considering her words, though, and that lit a wick of hope.  He opened his mouth as if to respond, but then his eyes darted to the doorway, and he frowned instead. “You’re late.”
The tiny candle flame snuffed out.
Katsura whirled to see who Iruka was talking to, eyes going wide when she noticed the telltale face covering of none other than Kakashi Hatake, Sixth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf, nose buried in a book, though his keen eyes were fixed exactly on hers when she turned.
He snapped the book closed and stowed it in his vest.  “Yes, yes.  My apologies, I had a late meeting.”
Katsura looked back toward Iruka, who had gathered his belongings into a satchel and stood from his seat.  He handed her the crisply folded beeswax paper as he brushed past on his way out.
“I’ll think about it, Katsura, but no promises.  You know I don’t like meddling.”
Katsura held the wrapper tightly in her hands, bit her tongue as it crumpled in her grasp, and nodded.  Sometimes she missed the Iruka who was always pulling pranks and wreaking havoc.  That Iruka would have already locked Aori in a closet with Yamato and transformed the key into a beetle just to amuse her.
Katsura jolted out of her sour thoughts when the Rokudaime stuck his head into the room and sniffed the air in much the same way Iruka had done when she first arrived with her offering.
“Oranges?” he asked, following after Iruka with his hands in his pockets.
“Yes,” came the answer, “Katsura brought me dessert.”
Their voices faded, but Katsura was sure she heard Kakashi respond with, “Cake seems like an awful waste of good fruit.”
She stood there for longer than she would like to admit processing what she’d just seen.
When had Iruka started dating the Hokage?  And why did they both sniff the air like dogs?
“I can’t believe I didn’t know!” Katsura lamented later that evening, flopping dramatically onto a cushion as Aori finished preparing their dinner.
Aori seemed in better spirits now, at least, than when Katsura had last seen her.  She imagined this had at least something to do with the new bruise on Aori’s shin and the bandage wrapped around her left ring finger.
Her sister was always happiest during and after a difficult training session.  Aori had been spending plenty of time with Gai Maito lately, as he worked to keep in shape with his right leg now out of commission.  Katsura grimaced as she imagined what sort of shenanigans the two of them might have gotten into between Aori’s frustration over Yamato and Gai’s desire to prove himself as Youthful as ever even after his injury.
“Iruka’s been head over heels for Kakashi for years,” Aori said, setting their food on the table.  “I never thought he’d take my advice and finally ask him out.”
Katsura’s eyes flew wide for a moment, and then she squinted accusatorily across the table at her sister, who looked as though she’d been caught in a spotlight and forced to recite all the Shinobi Rules backward in a foreign dialect.
The only time Katsura had seen her blush as hard was when speaking with Yamato.
“What’s that look for?” Aori asked nervously, picking up her chopsticks to begin eating.
“Oh, you know exactly what that look is for!” Katsura said, slamming one palm flat on the table.  “How is it you’re so busy matchmaking for other people, yet you can’t seem to do the same for yourself?!”
Katsura wasn’t sure what irritated her more, that Aori was so obviously in tune with the feelings of those around her but incapable of acting on her own, or that Iruka had brushed her suggestion of intervention aside when her sister was the reason they were both currently in relationships with the men of their dreams.
Aori, ever the patient big sister, set down her food and looked at Katsura plaintively.  “Listen, Katsura, I… I think it’s sweet you’re so invested in this, but I’d really prefer you drop it.”
Katsura huffed, worried she might actually be etching a permanent line between her eyebrows after all the frowning she’d done in the past twelve hours.
“How can you say that?  You did the same thing to me, and it turned out so well!  I can’t just sit here and let you be alone because you’re too scared to be honest with yourself.”
Aori’s optimistic face fell, and she glanced down at her food, suddenly finding the sticky rice and grilled fish far more interesting than they could possibly be.
“It’s different,” she said quietly.  “Yamato is…”
“He likes you, Aori.”
Aori shook her head. “He’s busy.  We both are.  And not like you’re busy, you know, he has… he’s Kakashi’s most trusted shinobi.  And I have my team to worry about.  They’ll be training for the chunin exams soon and I want to be there for all of them, so—”
Katsura slapped both palms down this time, sloshing broth from her miso soup onto the table as she leaned up on her knees, towering over her sister for the first and only time in her life.
“You’re just making excuses,” she hissed.  “You’re better than that.”
Katsura decided she wasn’t all that hungry after all and she stood, ignoring the placating voice of her sister as she pounded down the hall toward her bedroom and slammed the door closed behind her.
Fine.
If Shino thought she was being silly and Iruka wouldn’t help her and Aori wouldn’t listen to her, then Katsura would just have to take care of things herself.
Which meant she was going to have to figure out Yamato’s last name, if he had one.  Or literally anything else about him other than that he looked sort of funny and her sister was apparently in love with him.
She’d start in the morning.  For now, she turned to her terrarium and inspected her beetles as they munched on the jellies she laid out for them in the morning.  They were growing quickly, and soon they’d be ready to be released.  A bittersweet thing every time, though watching them grow was still worth it, even if she cried whenever she turned one out into the wild.
As she watched them, Katsura let her mind roam, slowly coalescing a plan to get Aori and Yamato together and force them to speak—force Aori to admit her feelings if Yamato wouldn’t do it first.  If she could emulsify a stable lemon curd without it souring, then she could certainly get two idiots who clearly had a thing for each other out on a date.
At least, she hoped she could.  Because otherwise she’d probably come out on the other side of this looking like a complete idiot.
Katsura was not typically fond of being so short, but she could admit it had its benefits.  Though she was never considered a particular specialist in espionage, when you were under five feet tall, people tended not to notice you so much, which made sneaking around infinitely easier.
She’d been doing as much all day, flitting through the corridors of the Hokage Tower—sometimes in rooms she almost definitely was not supposed to be in—looking for any sign of brown hair or a happuri to no avail.
As she turned yet another corner only to find yet another empty room with absolutely no Yamato in sight, Katsura stomped a foot and clenched her fists at her sides, throwing her head back to growl through grit teeth.
“Something the matter?”
Katsura Morita, deadly shinobi and heretofore unflappable lover all things creepy crawly, shrieked.
She turned toward the sound of the voice—a voice which had appeared out of nowhere—hands thrown up in a defensive stance.
But rather than finding an assailant, Katsura’s eyes met the level stare of none other than the Sixth Hokage for the second time in as many days.
Her heart beat furiously in her chest, adrenaline lancing her veins even as she dropped her fists limply to her sides.
“Where did you come from?” she asked, eyes darting around in search of any hidden doors she might have missed.  She didn’t even sense him coming, no flare of chakra, no whiff of cologne or shampoo.
It was terrifying, honestly, that even as a shinobi she had no warning of his proximity.  It suddenly made the picture painted of him as a deadly assassin and elite shinobi all the more real, despite his usually aloof demeanor.
“Well,” Kakashi said, leaning nonchalantly against a wall, “I actually work here.  In the building.  Which is more than I can say for you.”
Katsura felt her face flush a deep pink and she bit her cheek to keep from saying something snappy in response.  Annoying or not, he was still her Hokage.
“So the real question is,” he said, “what are you doing here?”
Katsura considered lying.  She considered it for all of half a second before she realized she’d be up to her pink-tinged ears in trouble long before she finished spinning untruths to Kakashi Hatake.  He watched her with two eyes as dark as any beetle she’d raised and Katsura suppressed a shiver.
“I’m looking for someone,” she said finally, hoping that might suffice.  But when Kakashi’s eyebrows disappeared into his hairline and he titled his head—reminding her again so very much of a dog that she wondered whether this was some sort of elaborate and forbidden transformation jutsu—she sighed, knowing she’d been caught.  “I’m looking for Yamato,” she muttered, staring down at her feet as she scuffed one shoe against the floor.
This seemed, however, to garner a great deal more interest than she was anticipating.
“Tenzō?” Kakashi asked and then shook his head when Katsura shot him an inquisitive look.  “It’s a code name,” was the only explanation offered before he added, “Why are you looking for him?”
Katsura weighed her options.  Again, she could lie.  She could say she was hoping to train with him or Naruto wanted to see him or maybe she could pretend that he asked her a question at the market and now she had the answer…. Thankfully, before she could say any of those idiotic things, the cover of a book caught her attention from within the Hokage’s vest.
Bright orange with a red symbol on it denoting it was definitely not for children.
And something clicked.  Because she remembered that book and its companions from Aori’s bedroom, though she’d never admit as much to her sister.  And while the story hadn’t really interested her, she knew that, in addition to being smutty, they were also incredibly, absolutely, overwhelmingly cheesy in their more romantic aspects.  And Kakashi was apparently a big fan, if he still carried a copy with him even while officially on duty as the Sixth Hokage.
Which meant Katsura might have finally found the ally she’d been looking for.
“I’m trying to set him up with my sister.”
The glint in the Hokage’s eyes should have made her want to run, but instead Katsura’s mouth curled into a triumphant smile.  Finally, someone who appreciated what she was trying to do.
It turned out having the highest-ranking shinobi in the village on your side made matchmaking a lot easier.  Katsura was astounded at how well Kakashi was able to feign seriousness when he gave Yamato—err, Tenzō? She decided not to dwell on it—the order that he was to report to training field twelve for a special assignment.
That Yamato seemed so eager to obey the command was another thing entirely, though Katsura tried not to dwell on that too deeply, either.  What sort of person got that jazzed about training?
Wait…
She did know one other person.
“Shoot,” she cursed under her breath after Yamato had been dismissed.  Still, Kakashi with his inhuman—and again, very canine-like—hearing caught her whisper, even from across his office.
“What?” he asked.  “You’re sure Aori will be there, right?”
“Yes,” Katsura said, “but I don’t know whether she’s meeting Gai there, so I should go intercept him just in case.”
She frowned.  She’d wanted to watch the interaction, see the culmination of her scheming and hard work.
There was no option, though, someone had to keep Gai away from the training field if Aori was going to have any chance at all to confess.
Much to Katsura’s surprise, though, Kakashi stood from his desk chair and stretched.  They both grimaced as several loud snaps and pops rang out through the room as he did so.
“Don’t worry about Gai,” he assured her, “I’ll handle him.”
“How?”
Kakashi chuckled, striding toward the window before opening it and crouching on the sill. He looked back at her, eyes creasing in what she assumed was a smile, despite not being able to see his mouth.  “We’re well behind our usual competition schedule.  I’m sure I can come up with something to keep him distracted.”
Then he disappeared, leaving several stunned ANBU to meld out of the shadows and begin trailing after their Hokage, though one stayed behind, she assumed, to keep an eye on Katsura and make sure she didn’t go snooping through any classified mission scrolls.
“Why is Aori friends with such weirdos?” she wondered aloud.
She swore the ANBU agent still in the room chuckled as she left, but by the time she turned around, they were already hidden from sight.
Aori was at the training grounds, battering a wooden sparring dummy with a pair of bamboo swords, by the time Katsura hid behind a bush at the outskirts of the field, suppressing her chakra so as to remain undetectable.
Her sister was flushed from the exertion of her training, midnight blue hair sticking a little to her sweat-dotted forehead and temples.  Katsura grimaced.  Maybe she should have made sure Aori wouldn’t be so sweaty when she confessed her feelings to Yamato.
It was too late, though, she soon realized, when the man appeared at the opposite side of the field, looking around as if trying to figure out why Kakashi had sent him.  Mercifully, he seemed to have left his happuri elsewhere for the time being.
He approached from behind Aori, eyes falling upon her back almost as soon as he entered the clearing.  Aori, however, though she obviously knew someone had encroached on her morning, apparently was not sure who it was because suddenly she launched one of the bamboo training swords across the field at the intruder.
Yamato was clearly surprised, already wide eyes going even wider as he ducked out of the trajectory of the weapon, catching it in one hand when he detected it wouldn’t slice him open.
The furious pull between Aori’s brows relented when she realized who it was she’d just attacked.
“Yamato!  I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize—” she raced across the field, no doubt to continue apologizing as she retrieved her training weapon.  Her intentions didn’t matter, though, because by the time she’d almost reached Yamato, who smiled and assured her he was uninjured, a pack of dogs came bounding out of the woods, barking and howling.
Both jonin turned toward the pack as it advanced, Yamato sputtering something that sounded like, “Pakkun, what are you doing?”
He hardly got the question out, though, before the dogs were circling the two ninja, tightening the loop with every pass.  Aori and Yamato both appeared confused and overwhelmed as the ninken kicked up a swirl of dust in their wake, clouding their vision and causing them to sputter and cough.  Aori dropped her sword and started ineffectually swatting the dogs away.
One of them, the largest by a wide margin, seemed to take offense at this, and headbutted Aori’s backside with a grunt.
Katsura grinned as Aori fell forward, colliding harshly with Yamato’s chest, forehead bumping his chin.
Thank goodness he wears that chin protector.
Yamato appeared incredibly flustered by the sudden contact, though he managed to steady Aori by her elbows just long enough for the dogs to break formation.  One of them, a medium-sized creature wearing sunglasses of all things, nudged the back of Yamato’s knees.
He had only a moment to register what was happening before he pitched backward, hands still clasped on Aori’s elbows, forcing him to drag her down in his wake.
They both landed in the dirt with a thud, a plume of dust puffing up around them.
The pack of dogs, apparently satisfied with their shenanigans, bounded off again.  Just as they disappeared between the trees, Katsura swore the smallest amongst them turned to shoot her a wink.
Though Kakashi had not provided her any details of his precise plan, the dogs made perfect sense given his own canine-like proclivities, and Katsura could not argue with their efficacy.
Because once the dust cleared, she had a perfect view of a very flustered Aori trying to scramble to her feet and kneeing Yamato in the thigh.  Yamato, for his part, seemed incapable of moving, holding his hands as if in surrender as his face turned the same bright red as Aori’s.
By the time they both managed to get themselves upright, Katsura was sure they’d invented an entirely new shade of crimson between them, and she smothered a chuckle with her hand.
Aori bit her lip, dusting dirt from her slacks as she stared at her feet.  Yamato, looking equally as unsure of what to say now that they’d been attacked by the Hokage’s ninken, cleared his throat several times, but didn’t open his mouth.
Katsura waited behind the bush, fiddling anxiously with the hem of her skirt.
“Come on, Aori…”
Katsura thought for sure her sister was about to miss her opportunity, and she was half a breath away from leaping out into the middle of the field to scream at Yamato to take her sister out on a date when he finally spoke.
“Sorry about that,” he said, “I’m not sure what Kakashi-senpai sent me here for, but it seems like maybe it was a prank of some kind.”
Aori nodded vaguely in agreement.  “I wonder where he is, though?” She turned to look over her shoulder and Katsura ducked down to avoid being seen.  “Shouldn’t he be here to witness the chaos if that was his plan?”
Yamato chuckled.  “You’d think.  But he’s a strange man, sometimes.  Maybe he got caught up at work or…” he coughed, “reading.”
Aori chuckled at the addendum.
Katsura thought she heard the rumble of a far-off explosion and winced, wondering what sort of competition, exactly, Kakashi had devised to keep Gai entertained.
The two lovebirds in the clearing seemed not to notice the apparent chaos ensuing halfway across the village and, “Mm,” was all Aori said in response.
They stood there a few moments longer, though Katsura took heart that neither attempted to step further away from the other.  As if the proximity, though embarrassing at first, no longer made them uncomfortable.
Progress, at least, even if neither of them had confessed their love for the other, yet.
“I’m sorry to have interrupted your training,” Yamato said, and Katsura growled at his formality.  Why couldn’t he just loosen up? Even from this distance, she could discern the fondness in his gaze as he looked at Aori, could see the gentle upturn of his mouth as he examined her pretty features.
“Oh, no!” Aori assured him, “You didn’t interrupt anything.”
Silence again.  Infuriating, impenetrable silence.
“Come on,” Katsura growled, fists curling into the branches of the bush she remained crouched behind.  It took every ounce of self-restraint she possessed not to launch herself across the field and press the two idiot jonin’s heads together like the dolls she used to make kiss when she was a toddler.
What were they waiting for?
Katsura closed her eyes, teeth grinding together with all the force of a bull ant’s mandibles.  For one brief moment, she wished she had some Yamanaka lineage; that she could project her thoughts into Aori’s mind and force her sister to give voice to the feelings she so clearly held for Yamato.
Maybe if this failed she’d reach out to Yuuta to see if he or his cousin Ino could help.  Clearly, roping in the Rokudaime was not quite enough to get these two blockheads together.
“Well, I guess I should get going,” Yamato said, “so you can get back to work.”
You didn’t have to be a Hyuga to see how desperately Yamato didn’t want to leave, nor the way Aori’s fists clenched at her sides in frustration.
Yamato turned to leave and Katsura was just about to leap out from behind her bush and confess on her sister’s behalf when Aori squeezed her eyes closed and shouted, “Wait!”
Yamato nearly tripped, obviously surprised by the sheer volume of Aori’s voice.  But when he turned back to look at her, Katsura thought she saw something hopeful in his expression.
“S-sorry!” Aori said, cheeks turning that same shade of sunburn from the market all over again.  She crossed her arms over her chest and Katsura groaned quietly.
That tended to be the most defensive stance Aori took—a sign she was uncomfortable, and usually that she was about to clam up.  Katsura took a deep breath and stood, popping up from her hiding space so she could stride across the field and intervene on her sister’s behalf.  Sure, Aori would be upset with her for a while, but in the end, she’d thank her—
“Hey, Yamato?”
Katsura stopped in her tracks, suddenly feeling horribly exposed (and incredibly grateful both jonin appeared too invested in their interaction to have noticed her, yet).  She crouched, cursing under her breath as she crawled behind a charred tree stump apparently left behind from a particularly violent training session, peering around it to continue watching.
During her brief moment of panic, Katsura discerned that Yamato must have given some sort of response, because by the time she tuned back into the conversation, Aori was speaking again.
“If you’re not busy tonight, would you… like to get something to eat?  Maybe?”  She paused and then tacked on a little oddly, “With me?” as if her question required clarification.
Katsura’s eyes widened, mouth stretching into a smile.  Aori was as brightly colored as the red velvet cookies Katsura had made for her last birthday, but she’d done it!  She’d finally asked Yamato out!
And while Katsura had no doubt that Yamato returned Aori’s feelings and would be giddy to join her on a date, he took just a little too long to answer, just long enough for Katsura to worry a moment and Aori to pull her lower lip between her teeth anxiously.
Katsura was about to really march across the field and give Yamato a piece of her mind for breaking her sister’s heart when he finally answered.
“Of course,” he said, the smile as clear in his voice as on his face.  “I’d love to.”
Somehow, Aori’s cheeks managed to turn an even deeper shade of crimson.  “R-Really?!” she asked, clearly a little taken aback by his response.
Katsura wanted to smack her.
“Really, Aori,” Yamato said, smile growing wider.
“G-great!  Uh…”
Aori clearly had not planned for a positive response.  Katsura couldn’t wait to tease her about it.
“How about we meet by the Hokage Tower around seven?” Yamato suggested, mercifully.  “We can decide where to go from there.”
Aori smiled, face so red that if it were an actual sunburn, a trip to the Konoha Hospital would likely be in order.
“That sounds perfect,” she agreed.
Yamato bowed at the waist and Katsura rolled her eyes at his outdated decorum.  “I’ll see you then.”
Katsura did her best to rein in her joy, biting her lower lip to keep it from curling into an impossibly wide smile.  She squealed quietly, stamping her feet in a happy little jig as Yamato departed.
“You can come out, now!”
Katsura stopped, peeking out from behind the charred tree stump to find Aori glaring in her direction, brows pulled together and arms still crossed.
Katsura sighed at having been caught, but failed to stop smiling as she sauntered toward her sister, letting her hips sway freely as she made her way over.
"Hey, sis,” she said, no longer attempting to hold back her smirk, “you got any plans this evening?”
Aori tried to roll her eyes, but the flush over her face diminished the impact of the gesture.
“Why do you insist on meddling in other people’s business?”
“Not other people’s,” Katsura insisted, “just yours.”
She hooked her arm through Aori’s, beginning to drag her sister away from the training field.  They had plenty of time before Aori’s date, but Katsura knew her sister well enough to know there were at least two or three anxiety attacks coming, so it would be best to start preparing her for it now.
“Besides,” Katsura said slyly, noticing that Aori didn’t fight her as she started to drag her toward home once they each picked up one of the training swords, “I had help.”
“Oh?” Aori asked, looking curiously down at her sister.  “Who?  Iruka?”
Katsura’s nose wrinkled as she laughed.  “Nope!  Iruka is apparently no fun whatsoever.  His boyfriend, on the other hand…”
She felt Aori bristle beside her.  “You roped the Hokage into your matchmaking scheme?!  Katsura!”
Aori chided her the entire way home, but Katsura didn’t care; she would have taken whatever punishment Aori could dole out—any punishment the Rokudaime himself might assign her.
It was all worth it to make sure Aori got her own little piece of happiness.

I thought so long about Angst with Yamato but I just can't imagine him being in such a situation. He's just so cute and smol 🥺
Does "Here, let's share a blanket.", where you are on a mission and he forgot his sound okay, or is it unfitting?
Yamato — "Here, let's share a blanket." 383 words
aaahhhhhh. I read an angsty yamato story a few weeks ago and even then, he was like super cute and lowkey submissive. It was wonderful. I think this is perfect, it reminds me of those after episode clips of naruto shippuden where yamato lost his script but kakashi had it the whole time. I hope you enjoy it !!
Tumblr media
How in the world does he manage to pack everything but a blanket? It got cold at night, how did he forget that? And none of his intricate jutsu homes had heat. He could build a fire and sleep beside it, but really, did he want to? And wouldn’t his house burn down? He’d have to build a whole new one and he just– it was way too much work just because he forgot a blanket.
He sighed, setting up the smaller home and allowing you to walk inside first. You opted to share one of the rooms because, to be perfectly honest, you hated sleeping in a room by yourself, especially when it was so quiet. Yamato didn’t seem to mind and you silently thanked him for it, but when you watched him unpack his bag, you noticed something missing.
“Did you forget the blanket again?” You heard the deep sigh from across the room before he turned to you, pouting. You had already had your bed roll unpacked and ready for sleep.
“Y-yeah, I did.” You giggled, scooting over in your too-large-for-one-person bedroll and patted the empty space.
“Here, let’s share a blanket.”
“Wha-? No, no it’s okay. I’ll just sleep in my vest.
“Are you really willing to do that? You’re going to get a stiff neck and poked with who knows what’s in your pockets. Come, just sleep next to me and then we can stop somewhere and pick you up a blanket.” He grumbled, contemplating his options. Sleeping beside you for the night or, as you put it, getting stabbed with one of his kunais and waking up uncomfortably in the morning. Sleeping next to a warm body sounded so amazing, especially when the warm body was someone he had been admiring since he stepped out of ANBU.
You patted the spot again, getting comfortable and closing your eyes before hearing his feet pitter patter against the floorboards. His body slid in beside yours. He felt so stiff before you opened an eye to look at him. You smiled at him and he felt his rigidness melt away.
“Goodnight, Yamato.” You whispered, and he watched as you quickly fell asleep, curling up under the blanket while he kept watch a little longer before finally being able to sleep.

A lot of time had passed since you'd reunited with your little brother years after your separation. Your h/c hair intertwined with red bangs had grown a lot and well as much as you hated to say that Naruto was now taller than you. To say that a lot had happened since your arrival at Konohagakure would be an understatement. The day he discovered he was the Jinchuriki of Kyubi, his entry into team 7, Orochimaru's attack, the death of the IVth Hokage, Sasuke's departure.
He was eternally grateful to have you by his side in those moments. Admittedly, things were different now, and he had many friends, but the comfort of family was of added value to him.
You still lived in Naruto's little apartment. This in itself didn't bother you, since you weren't really home-loving and were always busy together or on your own, being out and about. On the other hand, you hadn't slept with him for a while. In fact, you lasted 1 month, after which you couldn't stand it any longer when he made you fall out of bed rolling around in his sleep. So you put a second bed in the apartment.
When you say you, you mean you and Iruka. In fact, he was the 1st person you met at Konohagakure, the 1st person to earn your trust. You both feel indebted to each other. You because he trusted you and, thanks to him, you found your long lost brother. And he because you gave his favorite student back his zest for life and now he had peace of mind knowing that Naruto was supported and cared for.
Over time, however, this gratitude turned into something else. Both of you knew that gratitude had nothing to do with meeting up in the evenings after his class, in a restaurant or going for a walk in the cool of the night talking about various subjects. You decide to live the thing quietly without questioning or asking questions about your relationship, it's not like you've already kissed right ?
That's what Iruka was thinking. He didn't want to burden you with his emotions, he knew he was clumsy in this kind of situation. He knew that at some point he was going to screw things up. In addition., Naruto had started a training session. Naruto had started a special training with Kakashi and Yamato and Iruka was sure that your brother needed your attention more than he did.
Little did he know that on each of your "dates" you wondered if he'd have the courage to kiss you. With time, however, you realized that he was shy and reserved, especially in this context, and that for that to happen you'd either have to pray to a lucky star or make the first move yourself.
But for the moment you weren't too concerned about that. You accompanied Naruto to his training session of the day, which he had well like every other day with Kakashi and Yamato. By the way, speaking of Yamato, he was nice but he always made funny faces. He'd stare into your eyes sometimes when you used your chakra. At the time, you didn't really understand why. And every time, Kakashi would appear out of nowhere and tell you not to worry, giving you an apologetic smile. But even his smile left you with a funny feeling in the back of your head ( even Naruto could sense something strange in your aura, which reminded him of his own, but he decided not to worry about it, reassuring himself that you were brother and sister )
In any case, today you had come to attend Naruto's training session. He'd told you he'd made a lot of progress. And you were as eager as he was to show you how.  That's how you ended up on the training ground with - you must admit - a grandiose waterfall.
But then things took a completely unexpected turn. To perfect his technique, your brother needed to channel a great, great deal of chakra. He therefore had to borrow some from Kyubi. Except that dealing with so much power had its risks, like losing control. And that's exactly what happened before your stunned eyes. You knew that this situation had apparently happened twice before, once on his first mission with the new Team 7, under Yamato's orders, and again during his training with Jiraiya, on his 3-year journey.
When you saw the face of the fox demon your brother was harboring, you panicked. Little by little, you saw the tails appear, just as the toad hermit had described. You counted one, two, three... seven tails... you were speechless, unable to draw your gaze from his lava-red form. He repelled the assaults of Kakashi and Yamato with the greatest ease, it was disconcerting.
What was equally disconcerting for the two men on the ground was the way you were running straight towards the half-transformed form of Kyubi through Naruto's body. You weren't planning on letting him deal with this alone any time soon. Suddenly you saw one of the tails rise up and run towards you. You put your hands towards your face to protect yourself from the blow, which you were sure was going to be of unparalleled force. And as you waited for the pain to arrive, nothing happened. When you opened your eyes again, your body was surrounded by a glowing aura, which served as a kind of protective shell. What the heck was going on ?!?
Clearly you weren't the only one stunned, for you saw the half-Kyubi half-Naruto in front of you freeze, tilting his head to one side for a brief moment. Yamato's eyes widened as his theory was confirmed before his very eyes. Kakashi smirked and said, "Do you think you could give us a hand, Y/n ?"
Your only response was a confident nod. You were unfazed by what had just happened when you saw the state your brother was in. So you took a breath and resuled your run towards him, hoping to catch him and block him before forcing him to become human again. Or else you'd use the brutal method and knock him out.
With each new step you felt the chakra inside you bubble and warm up, in a way you'd never been able to feel before. Deep inside you heard a voice urging you to confront this creature that was torturing your brother's mind. Suddenly, it was as if the link between you and that inner voice solidified, creating a bridge. You felt as if time had stopped as you stood there in your inner self.
You found yourself face to face with a .... erm orange fox ? lying on a kind of large cushion, its two front paws gently crossed in front of it, its head set on them. As you stared at him, intrigued, he surprised you by opening one eye. He looked at you with his red eye before finally speaking in a deep voice "Finally, it was about time ! I thought you were going to let me sleep here for the rest of your life. Even your brother managed to awaken the part of me he was hosting"
You looked at him with round eyes. Could it be that a part of Kyubi was also locked within you ? Without realizing it, tears welled up in your eyes and you began to pour down your cheeks. Minato, your father hadn't used you as a diversion like you always though. He trusted you with this, the proof being the part of Kyubi that had been sealed inside you. You were so happy he hadn't let you down.
"Hey kid, I don't want to spoil your emotional moment, but I think they need you out there" he told you this time, his voice holding an ounce of friendliness. This part of him seemed far less enraged than the one that was inside Naruto.
"Yes, it's true-" and just like that you snapped out of your trance to realize that only a second had passed in the real world. As you continued to dodge the attacks of those tails to reach him, you thought that maybe those two parts of Kyubi weren't purely identical, and that they both had their own temperament. With the incredible amount of chakra he lent you, you were able to skillfully avoid all the attacks and get closer to your brother's body.
Suddenly, you saw an opening, you screamed gathered your chakra in your fist and you reluctantly struck a blow into his torso. Sending him tumbling into a rock, after blowing up a tree in the process. Yamato ran over to Naruto, who could be seen again the more Kyubi's chakra faded. He wanted to make sure he was all right and that Kyubi wouldn't regain control. Kakashi, for his part, walked casually up to you to congratulate you "Hey Y/n good jo-"
He didn't even have time to finish his sentence before you fainted. He barely had time to run and catch you on his back before you collapsed to the ground. He barely caught you and made sure you were secure on his back before standing up. He quickly ran his hand over your pulse to make sure your heart was still beating, and when he turned around he saw Yamato carrying Naruto on his back in the same way he had. It seemed that the siblings were as out as each other.
. . .
"I came as quickly as I could. Is she all right ?" a worried and breathless voice asked.
"But yes don't worry about that. She's just a little groggy, that's all. She deployed a lot of chakra" replied Kakashi in a relaxed tone. He knew you were going to get through this way easier than anyone thought. You were just like your little brother.
"B-but how did that happen ?" he asked stuttering.
"It would seem that Tenzo's theory about her having some of Kyubi's chakra inside her was well-founded-"
"Huh ?!? So that's what I felt ! I-I have to go see her" he said in a hurried tone.
"Well go on what are you doing here ? Go for it" Kakashi replied, pushing him towards your room.
Iruka, under Kakashi's guidance moved towards the door and after taking a deep breath before turning the handle and gently pushing the door open. He was extremely concerned about your well-being. In fact, when he saw you lying like that in bed, he felt his heart clench. He knew his fears were irrational, for you were a strong kunoichi, but he couldn't help the way his heart was beating at that moment.
"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you" he mumbled
"Why are you speaking as if I were dead Iruka ?" you said, turning to him. In fact you'd been awake for a long time, you were just staring out of the window. He yelped and jumped back before retracing his steps closer to your hospital bed. He took you carefully in a loving, longing embrace.
"How do you feel ? Are you feeling well ? You're not dizzy ? Or trouble breathing ? Maybe I'm choking you-"
"Hey relax Iruka" you said as you gently placed your hand on his cheek, looking straight into his eyes for comfort "I swear I feel fine"
At that moment he didn't know what got into him. His gaze dropped for a split second to your lips and it was as if he'd just realized that your mouth looked really soft to kiss. He felt unable to resist any longer. His voice was barely above a whisper.
"Can I-" but you cut him off as if you were thinking the same thing he was "Please."
And the red rose to his cheek as he pressed his lips to yours. Expressing all his love for you. The kiss was kinda sloppy because of his lack of experience, but that didn't take away from how good it felt to finally kiss the man you loved.
After a while, when he stepped back, he was out of breath and flushed. In short, adorably flustered. His hand couldn't stop rubbing his other arm as he looked down at the ground. He couldn't get over how good it felt.
"And now Iruka thanks to you I feel even better" you said smiling mischievously, adding a tinge of red to his flustered face.
"You're welcome" he stammered.
"Tell me, would you help me get even better ?" you teased unsure whether or not he'd play along.
"O-of c-course" he said, leaning towards you and pressing his lips to yours. This time his hands went behind your back and he pressed you a little closer to his chest. As you wrapped your arms around his neck. The kiss seemed much more passionate than last time, as if he had improved in such a short time.
You were just giving a series of sweet pecks on his lips when suddenly the door opened "Hey ! Nii-chan how are youUUUUUUUU ?!? Iruka sensei ! What the hell ?!? Are you kissing my sister ?!?" Naruto's voice dripped with surprise as it took on a high-pitched tone.
Poor Iruka jumped back 2 meters from your bed as he heard Naruto's high pitched scream "It's not what you think ? I came to see if everything was all right..." and as if he wasn't convinced himself, he sheepishly added "Okay, that's what you think, but B-but she means a lot to me. And with your approval, I'd like to see her again" he said, leaning in Naruto's direction. He wished he had Naruto's consent too, but he knew full well that even without it he couldn't help being away from you.
Naruto squinted his eyes at his former teacher "It's up to her to make this choice but I'll never be far away so be very careful" he said with a falsely threatening air that was menacing all the same.
Iruka nodded eagerly before turning his attention back to you. You took his hand and nodded towards him, rubbing your thumb over the back of his hand "It was about time right ?" you said hearing the part of Kyubi you beared chuckled lightly within you.

WEDDING
The big day was finally here. Both Tenzo and Gai were ridiculously nervous.
Kakashi stood by Gai and Sai stood by Tenzo.
Mirai was the ring bearer.
Once their vows were made, they gave each other a soft kiss. As they walked down the aisle together, Tenzo's heart fluttered; he had a husband.
Everyone clapped and cheered for them and wished them a long, happy life together. But Tenzo had already started to live his happy ever after from the moment Gai had asked him out.
Both men smiled at their ensembled guests. They were husbands standing hand in hand.

The problem was this: a week ago, Kazuki had returned from the academy with a suspiciously guilty look on his face.
“Kazuki, where did you get a cat,” Tenzo kept his voice even. Where had the boy even gotten this cat? It looked like a regular cat- not a nin-cat or anyone’s summon, which was good. But the beast’s presence was still unexplained.
“His name is Benjiro.” Kazuki announced. “I asked him, and he liked it.”

Day 3: "Wait, you love me?" - "I always have."
@flufftober
Yamato set down his backpack with a sigh. It wasn’t unusual for them to keep on walking the whole night but after two days and nights in a row, his body longed for at least a couple hours of sleep. He barely noticed the soft flowing of the creek that was only a throwing distance away from where Kakashi had decided to set up their camp. It was the silver sparkle of the moonlight dancing on the water that caught his eye. With a yawn he turned to Kakashi. “Mind if I take the first watch?” he asked.
Kakashi gave him a curious look. “Don’t you think you’re a bit too tired for that?”
Yamato shrugged and propped his backpack against a tree next to him. “If I go to sleep now, I probably won’t wake up in time for the second watch. I’d rather do it now if you don’t mind.”
Kakashi gave it a thought and nodded reluctantly. Yamato flashed him a tired smile and pointed in the direction of the creek. “I’ll go freshen up a bit. That should wake me up.”
Without waiting for a reply, he walked towards the creek. When the trees gave way, he paused. Now that the creek was in full view, it spread out all its beauty in front of him. Crystal clear water softly swashed against the stones that lined the banks. In a calm area at his feet, he could see the reflection of the moon high up in the sky. In a strained movement he knelt down by the water and scooped up some of it with his hand. He washed his face first and flinched when the cold water touched his bare skin. After he felt refreshed, he scooped up more water and drank a few sips.
When his thirst was satisfied, Yamato sat down cross-legged at the riverside, running his hand through the cold water lost in thought. The familiar sounds of Kakashi setting up their camp and the shining reflection of the moon in front of him gave him a feeling of inner peace.
“Do you remember the first time we met?” he asked quietly. “It was a night like this one.”
He felt Kakashi pause behind him and when he spoke, Yamato heard the smile in his voice. “You were a fierce kid. It took me almost three years to convince you that we could be friends.”
Yamato nodded slightly. He held many memories from that time dear but thinking about it also resurfaced deep rooted regrets and even fear. The memory of Danzou’s wrathful face and later waking up constrained to a cot, knowing he was about to lose everything that made him the person he was, still cut deep. Yamato felt his body tense up and he focused on his breathing. Inhale, exhale. Even after all these years, his former leader still cast a long and pitch-dark shadow.
As if Kakashi knew what he was thinking about he suddenly said, “I can’t remember ever feeling more relieved than when I found you just in time.”
Yamato nodded absentmindedly. “Me neither. You saved me.”
“As you did before,” Kakashi reminded him. “And as you have been doing ever since.”
A warm and fuzzy feeling rose in Yamato and he felt his tension fade away. “We’re a good team, aren’t we?”
He turned to face Kakashi, just in time to see him nod in agreement. A small fire was crackling behind him, casting dancing shadows on the trees surrounding them. He held his sleeping mat in one hand and his backpack in the other before carefully setting it down next to the tree Yamato’s backpack leaned on.
“Don’t you think that’s a bit too close?” Yamato asked a bit surprised.
Kakashi paused and skeptically looked down, measuring the distance between the watch and sleep set up with his gaze. “No, I don’t think so,” he replied and confidently positioned his sleeping mat even closer while giving Yamato a sassy look.
Yamato shook his head with a smile. Kakashi did have a tendency to do whatever he felt like – and now that he thought more closely about it, Kakashi had indeed slept even closer to him than usual during this mission. Of course, that was surely only due to the fact that they had been surrounded by enemies. Being too far apart could have meant their demise during this mission. For a second, the thought crossed his mind that they were out of danger now and didn’t rely on such measures anymore. But then he shrugged. Habits were hard to shake, it meant nothing. “Do you need some water?” he called out, intently ignoring the feeling of wistfulness that arose in him at that thought.
Kakashi nodded and pointed at the small fire. “Come over here, we should at least eat something before we take a rest.”
Yamato hastily filled their bottles with fresh creek water and then got up with a soft groan. When he reached the campfire, he handed one bottle to Kakashi and set the other on the ground beside him. Kakashi sat on a log that he must have found somewhere in the nearby forest. He had carefully placed it next to the campfire and now patted on the wood beside him, motioning for Yamato to sit down next to him. While Yamato did as he asked, Kakashi produced two food rations seemingly out of nowhere.
“What would you like to eat?” he asked while studying the wrappers with a solemn look on his face. “Brown ration pills or rather … dark brown ration pills?”
He said it so seriously that Yamato laughed out loud. “I’ll take the lighter ones, thanks,” he said with a grin and took the ration pills that Kakashi offered him. “Only one more night until we can finally get some real food.”
Kakashi put one of the pills into his mouth, furrowed his eyebrow and said almost convincingly haughtily, “I don’t get what you’re on about. These are delicious.”
Yamato giggled to himself when he saw Kakashi struggling to swallow the pill. He forced his own pills down, followed by some creek water to prevent the almost inevitable dry cough that usually followed eating the ration pills.
After they had finished their sparse meal, they both fell silent. Yamato noticed that he was sitting very close to Kakashi, close enough to feel the warmth he radiated. Yamato set his eyes on the dancing flames in front of him. The soft crackling of wood lulled him and he felt his eyelids getting heavy. Just one moment, he thought to himself when the fire slowly faded and turned into a soft and cozy darkness.
After what felt like a small eternity, Yamato found the will to open his eyes again. With a small yawn he looked at the fire – and froze when he saw that it had turned to embers that emitted a mellow glow. Horrified, he shook his head to shake off the dizziness. He paused when he felt something warm grazing his cheek. It took him a moment to process the situation but then he shot up and stared at Kakashi in horror. “I am so sorry,” he stammered, his cheeks blushing at the realization that he had fallen asleep on Kakashi’s shoulder. “I don’t know how … I’m … that shouldn’t have happened!”
Kakashi gave him a strangely tender look. “Don’t apologize. I find it adorable. It’s one of the things I love about you.”
Yamato sighed in relief and smiled apologetically. It took a second for Kakashi’s words to sink in. But when they did, an electric shock bolted through his body. He stared at Kakashi with wide eyes, his heart thundering in his chest while he tried to grasp the meaning of what Kakashi just said.
His voice trembled when he slowly asked, “Wait, you love me?”
Kakashi’s eye shone in the soft glow of the embers and a gentle smile appeared behind his mask. His voice was as warm as the look in his eyes when he replied, “I always have.”

TW: NSFW! Minors do not interact!!! , some fluff and kakashi being a menace
Chapter 3: Woody things
Yamato kind of tosses around. His thoughts forming an orbit of what happend he doesn´t know from how long ago. It could´ve been hours. Well… she touched him… his heart beats a little faster. Her touches were so smooth… her hands in his- he blushes hard, looking at his hand. He shakes his head. No- NO he´s not supposed to think and feel that way. She´s a new member to the team and it will stay that way- he´s telling himself these two sentences, so often that it is almost like an Mantra. But in the back of his head were other things. Something he doesn´t has often. For a brief moment he tries to calm himself. Takes a deep breath in and out. Gazing over to Anna up in her bed. He can hear her calm breaths and a baby snore. Just to catch himself smiling and thinking she´s cute. Shaking his head again. Nothing helps. He sighs and sits up for a few minutes, just watching her sleep. He feels like a creepy old man while doing so but something about her just… being there is so calming- sadly not calming enough to sleep bc his little friend decided to say hello. He looks away, ashamed of himself. A tired murmur comes from Annaishas bed. Not thinking much of it Yamato angles hin knees, leaning on them with his arms and ruffels his hair. Sighs again.
Through tired eyes Anna watches him shortly. He seems restless. She closes her eyes again and thinks for a moment how she should ask him. Mel is long gone and maybe somewhere downstairs. She murmurs. After a few seconds she hears ruffles from Yamato and a sigh. She guesses that something is going on in his head, could it be about earlier? Anna´s eyebrows narrow as she thinks. Did he interpred it wrong? She already hoped he didn´t. Anna shivers a little. It gets cold even tho she´s under her blanket. Being in a new home is always kinda weird, she thinks to herself. The Movement on the ground makes her open her eyes- the blue iris in them fixating on Yamato. He stood up, scratching his head and turns, walking to the bathroom door and opening it. He turns on the light. Anna let´s her gaze wander a little- still tired but her mind is wide awake. He is very attractive. That is still clear. The dim light shining on him conturing his muscles making Anna blush a little. Shameless, at least for now, she looks down. His loose pants showing a big… unexpectedly big buldge. Anna´s eyes widen. That dick is huge! - she thinks. Making her blush even more. Her heart stops as he´s about to look at her- fast she turns around, closing her eyes, screaming internally that makes her nearly squeak really loud. She wished she could move or do something to let go of the tension building up inside bc she can´t say something to let this kind of energy out. The door closes. Yamato is inside the Bathroom. Anna let´s out a deep sigh and opens her eyes. ”Fucking dammit.” she mutters under her breath. Sitting up and moving her arms widely to let the energy out. Deep breath in…. and out- okay now it´s better.
Laying down she hears the faucet getting turned on, a few splashes of water before it gets turned off. She looks towards the door. Blushes again. Turning to the side and weighting her upper body on her forearm. The mattress sinks in a little. It klicks as Yamato opens the door and steps out, freezes as he sees her. ”Do you have drouble sleeping Captain?”, Anna asks softly. He´s going full on tomato mode again. “Ee- ehm….” the redhead waits patiently for his answer. Yamato rests his arms behind his head. “Well- yes… I´m more of an light sleeper and sleeping in is also kinda hard… I hope i didn´t wake you up-”, grinning kinda awkward, he chuckles. She shakes her head. “Mhm”, Anna answers, “can i help you to sleep in somehow? Maybe a tea, watching a movie or… i dunno ehh cuddles even?” By the last one she shrugs with her shoulders. For herself she knows that this is in fact an innocent offer, so strange it sounds. She doesn´t think of something horny, just want to help her hopefully new friend getting some rest. But “new friend” freezes yet again. Worse than before. Just staring at her like she´s some kind of ghost with too large tits. Okay maybe not the tits but he´s so blushed Anna thinks he fell into an pot full of red paint. She sighs, stands up and walks in front of Yamato, where he doesn´t know what to do. Anna doesn´t let him do or say something as she takes his hand and gently pulls him to her bed. She turns him around, lays her hand on his shoulders and presses him down so he sits on the edge. Then she turns, gets his blanket and pillow up from the floor, gives Yamato the blanket and lays the pillow beside hers. “A- Anna… you… you really don´t have to-” “You´re my friend now and you have to get used to it that i like to cuddle with people when they feel bad. If you have something big against it you have to tell me a clear NO.”, she takes his pillow again shakes it puffy and then looks at him. It is a caring and warming look. “Are you okay with it? You don´t have to do things you don´t wanna do.” Sometimes she thinks to herself that she cares too much. But seeing the little light in the expression of his eyes makes her feel good and happy. ”It´s fine. Thank you for caring but i rather sleep on the floor.” Ouch. Anna sighs and shrugs her shoulders. Kinda sad. Well she know she´ll cuddle him soon enough. “Okidoki.”, ruffling his hair she goes and tidies up the futon, lays the pillow back on it, “I´ll make you an tea.” She smiles.
Yamato nods slightly, surprised that she isn´t sad or anything. His gaze follows her as she goes out the door. God. He can feel his heart pounding so heart against his chest. Putting one hand on it he breaths in and out. What if he didn´t said no? What if they´re laying in bed toghether? He wants this so bad actually- why did he said no then? He still sits there for a bit longer, it feels like an eternity. Staring on the ground for maybe a bit too long. As he catches himself again, he grabs the blanket, placing himself on the futon again. Hearing footsteps he looks up towards the door. Anna comes in with an mug in her hands. “Sorry it took so long.” she says, soft smile on her beautiful lips, “This is an special recipe made by my mom. It helps with insomnia and calms the mind.” Carefully she gives him the mug, he grabs it with both of his hands, suddenly the actually big mug looks tiny- “Thank you very much.” he smiles back lightly. Dammit, he can feel his heart racing again just by seeing her smile. Anna sits down while Yamato sniffs on the tea, he can smell camille, sage and a little bit of peppermint. “smells amazing-” Anna chuckles, “I put a little bit of honey in it. Fits this tea the best.” Yamato nods once again, taking a sip. The flavors combine wonderfully and the honey makes it not only sweet but smoothes all out. The warmth of the tea spreads through his body, stopping his thoughts and then slowing them. “Better?”, Anna watches over him like an eagle, making sure he´s fine. He nods. “Yes. Thank you.” He smiles softly. Normally he´s the one that takes care of everyone. “It feels nice to be taken care for.” He stops as he realizes that he said it out loud. “I know what you mean. Your´re not alone with it. I also care for everyone else, helping them out. But it´s easy to forget yourself. You need to take care for yourself too. Just wanted to point that out. You´re an Captain- that´s so much responsibility. You also need time to relax. I´m here for you if you need it okay?” “okay.” As they both smile at each other it feels like their bond grows somehow. ”And who cares about you?”, interested Yamato asks. Anna´s eyebrows rise up a little. “My mom cares. She cares very much. In my childhood our mother daugther bond was kind of broken but through the years we grew together, becoming a good team. I also have really good friends! They´re big sweethearts. Two civillians who weren´t afraid to befriend the weird dragon girl.” She smiles like an honey bee as she talks about them, swaying her feet, “We cried so much together as i told them i move to another village. I started and them they both started too- “ She chuckles, “and them my male best friend being a fucking menace trying to steal my cat bc he couldn´t cuddle her anymore when i´m away. Mel stayed for a bit before coming back home. He can´t have a cat you know-” He stayed, drank his tea and listend. Somehow it was reassuring she had people around her that she loved and they loved her back, even if they weren´t much.
Yamato drank the rest of the tea out by one big sip. “I´m glad to hear that.” He put the mug on the desk beside him, “I´d love to be someone who cares about you too.” Grinning, Anna answered “I gladly accept this offer. High five!” She put up the hand for him, shortly suprised then claps his hand on hers. “Please be silent you two…” the voice of Annas mom echoes through the room, “what the heck are you even doing?” She looked at them with squinted eyes, totally dozy. Anna grabbed on two fingers of Yamatos Hand cause her mom came in as they high fived. Both of them looked to Keiko. Anna shakes Yamatos Arm now by holding on to him “I´m just making friends mom!” Wasn´t a lie. Tiredly Keiko smiles, “Good good… just be more quiet while doing so… goodnight i love you…” She turns around and goes away. “I love you toooo!” Anna yells after her. Somehow this was an awkward situation but it still kinda amuses Yamato. Anna still holds his fingers, looks at him, grins then lets go. “Good night!” she saluts and lets herself fall on the bed.
Laying in the dark Yamato feels better, almost happy. But… somehow he craves something now. He can´t explain it but when Annaisha touches him, it makes him feel whole. Again, he looks at her, her breath slows down and she is about to fall asleep again. Before he can stop himself his body moves on his own. He gets up on his feet, pillow in his Hand, then squats before Anna. He pokes her. She grunts. “Mhm?”, she looks at him with dozy eyes. “Is the cuddle offer still open?”, her asks, feeling his nervous heart flutter. It needs a few seconds for Anna to process. But then she robs towards the wall and pats the mattress before her. “yes… “ she mutters. Slightly shaking Yamato lays down next to her, looks at her. Curled up like that she looks tinier than usual. She throws her blanket over him and gives Yamato the time to get near her. As Anna almost dozes off again she feels a warm body against hers, only hugging her so lightly as if he´s scared that she breaks if he touches her. “Don´t be shy… it´s okay.” she pulls him close, sighs just so can take in his smell without being weird. She smiles lightly. He´s nice and warm. While that- she feels something poking her leg in greetings. Yamato couldn´t believe he just did that. He thinks he´s going insane having her in his arms. Her whole body against him softer than a pillow. He blushes as he feels her boobs against his chest. Now realizing that she wears no bra. Well… he heard they´re quiet uncomfortable from good collegues… Her eyes are closed… what if he… His eyes wander down, the cleavelege of her top giving more free than it should. Thinking to himself that he would actually love to see more of it- before he can fully look up again Anna softly speaks: “Are you really that attracted to me?” He now notices it too… feeling his blood in a certain region. Making his dick grow again. His heart drops as she told him- “I´m - god i´m so sorry- I should-” “It´s fine. I don´t mind.” she slightly smiles, eyes still closed, “I think it´s something normal. Also i know that you don´t want to do anything bad to me. Please stay Yamato.” Still flustered but feeling reassured he pulls her bit closer, she turns around so they´re spooning. Silent he breaths her in, she smells like lavender. Anna snuggles towards him, kind off rubbing her ass against his cock, he holds back an moan and softly grunts. Anna feels his dick growing bigger against her ass. Holding her hand against her mouth as she slightly gets turned on by it. That should be forbidden- She ignores the certain feeling in her core, closing her eyes and tries to sleep. She feels how Yamato wraps his arm around her sides and his gently breaths.
After a while she wakes up again by feeling a certain thing rubbing against her ass. Her heart almost beats out of her chest. Instead of being shocked she feels turned on by it, kind of confused by her own emotions she listens into the silence. Yamato breaths heavy, having his forehead in the crook of her neck. He holds himself back, that´s for sure, there´s no way she didn´t noticed. Anna grabs his hand, entwining their fingers and begins to rub back. Making a certain movement with her hips, feeling his big fat cock between her asscheeks. “Anna- you… ah… don´t-” Yamato moans very silent. Annaisha stops moving, looks back at him as good as she can, he already looks like a mess, red cheeks, eyes full of lust and his hair looks rough. She isn´t better, her cheeks are pink and the wetness in her crotch eats itself through her pantie. “And what if i want to?” she asks. Turning around, her gaze fixated on him. With her hand she caresses his cheek. Giving him an kiss, so light as a feather, she begins to feel foggy from the upcoming lust. Yamato is just blown away, he wants her to touch him so badly and the kiss, even tho it was short, felt so good that he almost came on spot. Her fingers stroke down his chest, to his stomach then pulling down the pants off of his hips. Anna follows her hand movements with her eyes. Yamatos pulsating dick blobs out in freedom. The young man sighs. Anna stares for a moment, she never saw such a huge dick before… she bites her bottom lip. She grabs the shaft with her hand and gently presses her thumb against the tip, getting a soft moan out of Yamato. His cock twitches and as she teases it more by circling her thumb around the tip, letting it stroke over the split. Letting it twitch more and Anna chuckles. “So needy ~” they interlock their eye contact. The young woman begins to strongen her grip, moving her hand up and down. Yamato is so hypnotized that he can´t do anything about it, he moans silently and then kisses her. A dull grunt comes out of Annas mouth as their lips met. It´s a sweet kiss, shy at first but it becomes more loving the time goes. They subconsciously begin to move. Yamato leads Annaisha on her back as he kneels on top of her, still kissing. Annas hands cupping Yamatos cheeks, tracing her thumb over his cheekbone. His hand wanders from her stomach down, then he stops “Is it okay if i touch you there?” Both breathless, she nods her okay at him. His fingers glide under her panties, her moans by only him touching her making his cock twitch and a bit of pre-cum comes out. She´s so warm and wet. He strokes down between her labia, letting out a breathy fuck. She spreads her legs, lifting her hips then, gets rid of her panties. “That´s better…” she murmurs. Yamato can´t wait by seeing her wet pussy literally dripping for him. He begins to circle her clit, getting those sweet moans then glides inside of her with two fingers, gently thrusting and moving his thumb around the clit. Watching her how she rolls her eyes back, hearing her small wimpers. seems like both of them are a bit touchstarved… He begins to thrust faster, making her whine even more, it is something he can´t get enough of. “I - please- i need your dick-” Anna mutters under her breath. Not being able to think in some way logically he moves between her legs, kissing her lips and not letting go of them while he slides his cock inside of her pussy. The way he stretched her out, filled every bit of her dripping cunt made Annas mind blank. He slowly began to thrust into her as she holded back from moaning too loud- Yamato thrusted harder now, letting go of her lips and concentrated on the feeling.
”Aahh so you´re trying the thing i showed you. Not bad Tenzo, not bad.” Yamato open his eyes in shock- Under him was a very much naked Kakashi- SCREAMING Yamato pushed himself away. With an loud gasp he woke up. Before him, Anna. Still in bed looking at him a bit worried. “Are you okay? You look like you´ve seen a ghost-” Getting into tomato mode he stammers. Anna chuckles. “Good morning to you too.” She pokes his chest. “by the way your willy wants to be free… just so you know.” Ruffling his hair she gets up, stretches and walks into the bathroom. As if he doesn´t judges himself enough Mel looks at him like he´s some kind of criminal. Yamato lifts the blanket and sees his morning wood. Being worse as ever and feeling like it´s going to burst.
Little does he know that Anna subconsciously travels through the dreams that are sleeping next to her….
