I took some time today to clear my mind, body and spirit. I have been in Atlanta for a few decades now and I have never been to Stone Mountain. 🤦🏾‍♀️ It never set well with me…considering the history of it all. But, it was time to finally get past that. I wanted to do something new for me and I was really too lazy to drive or fly somewhere this weekend. 😀 So, as I drove around the park and found myself at the intersection of Robert E. Lee Blvd. and Jefferson Davis Dr., I cringed, deeply. 😖 I had to take a minute to recenter myself and remember why I was here. So here I am on Juneteenth 2022, walking past a Confederate flag flapping in the wind and up Stone Mountain for the first time. ✊🏾 I loved it and I will be back! Take that Robert E. Death; n. - the action or fact of dying or being killed; the end of the life of a person or organism.

I have never been afraid of death. At a very young age I was exposed to death and I’ve never felt that it was a bad thing. It’s very sad for obvious reasons, but once you’re at peace with your grief and sadness; it’s a beautiful process. The journey of a soul being born into a new body and then living and loving until they pass and are reborn again. My dad being a gravedigger also gave me a different perspective about death too. He would dig into the earth to lay a body to rest. The earth would then heal the old, sick and painful corpse until it could be given back to the earth to heal itself while the soul is placed in another being. The cycle is so beautiful.
