How You Can Help The Endangered Southern Resident Orcas
Avoid eating salmon, especially farmed salmon; farmed salmon is extremely detrimental to the environment.
Support legislation that is in the whales’ favor, such as the removal of dams.
Reduce water usage and be more mindful of how you use water!
Use natural cleaning products that do not contain harmful chemicals; these chemicals are often washed out to sea and can hurt marine life.
Do not use pesticides and chemical fertilizers in your yard! These, like cleaning products, can end up in the ocean.
Donate to organizations that are dedicated to helping the southern residents, such as The Whale Museum, the Center for Whale Research, and Orca Network.
Adopt a southern resident orca!
Become a member of the Center for Whale Research!
Let people know about the plight of these special orcas.
There are only 77 of these magnificent animals left. If we don’t act soon, it will be too late and they will be lost forever.

So sad to hear that J32 Rhapsody was found dead today in the Georgia Strait. I was lucky to see J pod many times on my trip up to the San Juan Islands in June. It breaks my heart that these amazing animals that I love so much are struggling. Hopefully her necropsy will help us better understand what is hurting the Southern Residents.
