I finally made my little Eren tribute. Enjoy! Catch the little Easter eggs: the timing of the heartbeat and lack thereof, Eren’s last words (chronologically) to his friends, the shifting aspect ratio to evoke nostalgia, the breakdown of Eren’s character…
Say what you will about the ending, but it made for some truly sad stuff.

For nothing else…but a clear conscience. I’m back with another CQL video! I wanted to explore two points of view. First of all, Wei Wuxian (Wei Ying) as a steadfast man and unreliable narrator who was both so pragmatically altruistic that he allowed his life to only revolve around others, and so proudly blind to politics that he made himself an easy target and failed to defend his life. Then, I filled in the blanks of the story with Lan Wangji’s (Lan Zhan) constant internal conflict of deciding between “right” and “wrong” while slowly crumbling under his strict clan’s responsibilities, all the while trying (and failing due to his inability to break rules) to save Wei Wuxian from his death. Following Wei Wuxian’s resurrection sixteen years later, the roles have reversed, and it’s Lan Wangji’s regret-fueled devotion and decisiveness that drive Wei Wuxian to finally find his place in the hateful, hypocritical, political world that wrongfully vilified him.
Don’t forget to turn on your subtitles!

Why am I still doing this so many years after this show came out? Idk. Here’s a lesson from your friendly neighborhood language nerd:
守信 - to keep one’s word
失信 - to break one’s promise

Restrain your grief.
Hi everyone! I’m back with another foray into trailers for The Untamed. This time around, I wanted to focus on the more somber and painful notes of loss, while also inciting a sense of fear. The music that underscores the second half of this trailer is a sung form of the poem “To the Frontier” by Wang Changling, a major Tang dynasty poet who is best known for his poems describing fictional battles in China. The underlying note of the poem featured in this trailer is one of regret and patriotism, although I have chosen to interpret it as a desire for peace. The translation I have subtitled is much less literal than other translations of this poem, as I wanted to align my interpretation of the poem with The Untamed. Hope you enjoy!

I loved, and I loved, and I lost you. I’m back with yet another CQL video! This one focuses on the recurring theme of love and loss, and the effect it had on relationships– romantic, familial, and platonic.
