I think this is my favorite episode of She-Ra so far (S2E2 "Ties That Bind") mostly because I just love the dichotomy between Adora and Catra when they have their first conversations with Bow alone after being captured.

Adora and Bow have a profound discussion about the lies the Horde has told Adora and her crazy gf deadass goes "what if I pushed him off a cliff?"

im rewatching signals and i just fully registered the line "shadow weaver used to tell me about ghosts in the horde" for the first time. like i always just went "fear control tactic, got it" but the way adora then describes it really makes it sound like shadow weaver sat them all around at night for Story Time and its like. i know it was all manipulation but i can totally see how she built a "relationship" with them over the years doing things like that that almost seem innocuous or like bonding and are actually just feeding in propaganda

It's not about what you give up, it’s about what you gain. Adora is a successful business woman and mother to 5 year old Finn. The balance shaken when her former Nanny quits to get married and she needed someone new.

In comes Catra, a university graduate on a gap year to work before she starts her masters. She just needs something temporary.

When she meets Adora and Finn she immediately falls in love with Finn and they love her just as much. She is meant to be a live-in nanny but she slips all too easily into a housewife role with Adora. Enriching their lives and helping Adora to find a better work-life balance.

worst type of she-ra fan arethe ones that started watching after the show ended and watched it only to get to the kiss scene. bc then when they see that they are fr actually enemies for 4 seasons and that the show is about their trauma and how it caused then to behave and how they had to be apart before being able to get together theyre like "wow this show is actually SO BAD because catradora is ABUSIVE and they waited until the last episode to make them canon and i cant believe i got tricked into watching a show for the wholesome gay ship and then found out theres a plot. unbelievable". like you just dont GET IT

man, i'm just thinking how scorpia's entire motivation for leaving catra, the person she worshipped and obsessed over until then, was to rescue entrapta. but then once entrapta is rescued, these two barely interact.

we don't get a conversation between them with scorpia apologizing to entrapta for not doing this sooner and entrapta hopefully forgiving her (it's certainly a lot more understandable than entrapta forgiving catra in a heartbeat, after everything she's done).

but no, we get close to nothing. there were a few interactions between them in that episode where entrapta was trying to find glimmer's coordinates, and while those were really cute, i was hoping for something bigger. scorpia's entire arc in s4 was inspired by entrapta but spop threw that away for more focus on the toxic main ship.

#their friendship was honestly so cute #bc they were both on the same wavelength #while scorpia wasn't exactly like entrapta‚ she also tended to ramble about things she was passionate about #and tried to celebrate entrapta's achievements even though she knew nothing about science #she also sometimes helped entrapta with the social cues she missed #and took care of emily for her #all for s5 to completely sideline them #oh but its important that both of them forgive catra okay #spop critical #spop salt #spop criticism #spop discourse #spop #she ra #anti spop
