Every summer, Maddie and Jack would sign Jazz and Danny up for the cheesiest, mind-numbingly boring ghost hunting camp in the world, located in Jump City. There's maybe a dozen other kids there, but only two camp councilors, so it's super easy for Jazz to sneak out of there. Danny, of course, is super mad that she doesn't take him with her, but as the elder, the 12 to his 9, she refuses to risk him in the dangerous metafilled Jump City.

This ghost hunting camp is what sparks Jazz's bitter, teenage rebellion. SHE wanted to go to a psychology camp; she'd even picked one out in Florida, only a few miles away from a space program for Danny. But noooooo, Dad had found a dirty, ripped pamphlet for Spooky Ghost Camp and signed them both up, without. even. asking. At least Danny's well looked after, being the youngest kid at camp, but that gives Jazz free time.

and in her free time, she fixates on one of her first obsessions: the psychology of superheroes.

Not sure how Jazz would get the Red X suit; she'd have to learn that Robin was Red X, then steal it, and I'm not sure how'd she'd accomplish that. But she's a smart, independent child badass, I'm sure she figured it out.

Every year her parents sent her and Danny to that damn ghost camp. Every year, Jazz put on the Red X suit and tormented the Teen Titans. She couldn't dye her hair, or sneak out at night, but she had crime. Robin gets his first bisexual crisis because of her bantering/flirting with him.

Eventually Danny finds out she's Red X and is thrilled. His sister can beat up the Teen Titans, it's so cool. Maybe in the future, Jazz can steal the Pink X suit from the Teen Titans Go comics so Danny can join in the fun, have some fun gender shenanigans for them both to have alteregos that are the opposite gender.

The reason why I thought of thsi au is because I keep reading "Danny is a thief in Gotham" type stories (which are EXCELLENT) and I can't stop imagining this specific scene: Thief Danny is cornered by the batfam, about to be caught, when out of nowhere... *spanish guitar* Red X comes to save the kid. No one knows who this guy is except for Nightwing, who seems to automatically hate this guy who's... flirting with him? Is this a Cat Woman situation? This sounds like a Cat Woman situation.

Also, not sure which I like better:

For Jazz to fill out on her chest, but keep the male voice of Red X, leading to some gender confusion.

For Red X to become less of an addition to Jazz as it is part of her core personality. She is just as much Red X as she is Jazz, so when her chest comes in, she thinks "hmm, don't like that" and gets top surgery.

bc Jazz? Still totally into the Red X game even as an adult. She even found a similar ghost hunting camp in Bloodhaven after Robin went solo. She hadn't even graduated high school yet, but her favorite hobby is tormenting this one superhero. She bats at him like a cat with a spider.

DP au where Vlad is still evil, but Very Bad At It. To the point where he plays himself. For this to work, Vlad doesn't find out Danny is Phantom for a while. Some examples:

Possesses Jack @ Bitter Reunions, and ends up throwing him the wrong way repeatedly. The 'heroic' Wisconsin Ghost changes the Fentons' minds about ghosts, because it's interference saves Jack from a falling chandelier, a vat of sulfuric acid leaking, a wreck in the GAV, and because he had to get that broken arm checked out later, finds cancer- at a stage where it's completely operable, and saves his life. Again.

Kidnaps Jazz- he thinks he's kidnapped her from a date. To Jazz? "Mom, (name) wouldn't let me out of his car and kept trying to push me. But the Wisconsin Ghost saved me!"

Kidnaps Maddie...multiple times. Gives the whole 'you will marry me!' speech, but it's in Ghost Speak, so Maddie's just very confused. He ends up repeatedly dragging her to places where, coincidentally, people have gotten horribly lost in the woods, or injured, and now she thinks he's just super helpful & dedicated to saving human life.

"Renounce your father and join me!" Umm. "Is everything ok, Mr. Wisconsin Ghost?"... *thinks on all his failures, and how the Wisconsin Ghost is now known as a hero*... " no."

Plasmius: *unholy demonic screeching*

Maddie: Yes, ok, I know someone's in danger. Can you please just show me? The Ghost Gabber doesn't work, it keeps on saying you're making death threats, marriage proposals, and chanting that you're a Vikings Fan.

Plasmius: *horrified gasp*

Maddie: I know, you'd never hurt anyone- anyway, where's the danger?

Everyone thinks the Wisconsin Ghost and the mayor are dating, because they both moved to Amity Park at the same time.

Danny finds out about Vlad, and is delighted because hey- two ghost superheroes! Vlad is horrified at being called a superhero, and orders Danny to rob a circus. That circus is, of course, Freakshow's, and Danny ends up freeing all the ghosts and getting Freakshow arrested before he can hurt anyone. Vlad is lowkey dying inside.

Danny thanks him for giving him the courage to 'come out' to his family as a half-ghost. It doesn't take them long to figure out who Plasmius really is.

Ah-ha! Valerie hates ghosts, if he weaponises her, she'll be his evil henchman, and prove that HE. IS. EVIL!!!.... Through fighting with and talking to ghosts, Valerie comes to an understanding with them, and thanks him for 'empowering her to be the heroine of her own story', 'showing her the error of her ways', and 'enabling her to help him- and Danny- protect Amity Park and the world.' Vlad: *sobs in poor little meow meow*

Vlad kidnaps a few kids...and turns out, he rescued them. They were being abused. He's their hero.

Vlad: And I will make this town RUE THE DAY it-

Jazmine: Hey uncle Vlad, let's talk for a few minutes.

Vlad: NO

Jazmine: Please?

2 hours later, Vlad is sobbing into a teenager's shoulder, and Jazmine is screaming at her parents.

Vlad constantly tries to fight Danny. Danny, the OP bastard he is, thinks Vlad is trying to teach him via sparring. He's having a great time. Vlad is mourning the last shreds of his dignity.

Vlad and Jack rekindle their friendship- on accident (in Vlad's case), by mourning over feeling incompetent.

After almost a year of obsessing over them, I finally wrote something for Maxiel. This is me first time writing a fanfic on Tumblr, and it's set in 2024. I'm honestly super nervous about it. Hope you like it ☺

Unlapped / Maxiel

5 pm, Jan 10, 2024, Milton Keynes, England

Max stared at Christian, still trying to process what he had just heard.

"You're letting go of Checo!"

Helmut sensed the unspoken question, and decided to cut in.

"He wanted to spend some time with his family. The things with his wife are not exactly... shall we say, peachy?"

"Bullsh*t!" Max snorted "There's more to it... There always is."

"Max", Christian's voice had a slight edge to it "Let's focus on the next steps. We have given you the list. Of course, we have done an internal evaluation for all of them. But it's your future teammate, so we wanted to surly take your opinion into... "

"My opinion!" Max chuckled, a humorless one, "I bet out of every person present in this room, I'm the last one to know about Checo."

The other three, Christian, Helmut, and Adrian remained silent, confirming Max's suspicion.

"Just... Pick a name. So that all parties involved can have an early weekend, buddy", Adrian sighs.

Max's eyes glanced over the images displayed on the giant screen in front of him. Each name was accompanied by a ton of statistics, performance, likability, and social media presence. Like every time, RBR research wing had done an impeccable job!

Herta, Nyck, Logan... And, mother of surprises, Lando!!!

"You can get Lando. How?" Max tried not to act surprised, but failed hard.

"Hmm... Let's just say we have our ways", Helmut had a strange smirk on his face.

Max said nothing. He kept staring at all the names. All of them were very talented, but none of them was the one he was thinking about.

"Max, you still there, buddy?" Adrian asked softly.

"I... " Max gulped "I want... "

"DANIEL! DANIEL" someone was calling out.

Daniel wanted to lift his head and tell the SOB to shut the f up, but his head felt like it was tied around a bag of bricks!

"Oi! Mate! Get up!" Someone poked him in the ribs, making him swear loudly.

"Yeah, nah! Let me f*cking sleep" Daniel slurred. He brought the beer bottle to his lips and chugged the bitter liquid till his insides burnt.

"Go home, you big dag! It's been a week since she broke up with you, and so far you have proved her right", said a familiar voice.

Jake? Blake? Bloke?

"Perth's closed for the day, deadhead, just go home", said another gruff voice, not unkindly though.

It was the owner of the bar Daniel was currently sitting... err, sleeping in.

"Alrighty, c*nts! I'm out! I'm out! You guys are no fun", Daniel flipped off all those bodiless voices and staggered to his feet.

The world swam around him uncomfortably.

"F u c k!" Daniel bit into his balled fist, trying to stop himself from throwing up.

He stood in front of his car in the parking lot, and pondered for a long moment.

"F u c k it!" He concluded, and decided to walk home finally.

His home was a 10 min walk, but he could barely see the road, his head was spinning so badly.

He puked outside someone's perfectly manicured lawn, and ran on his wobbly feet before anyone could spot him.

It was a hot and humid night. By the time he reached home, he felt sweaty all over, ready to retire to his bed.

Daniel brushed his teeth, splashed some water on his face, and crawled into his bed with his shoes still on.

He grimaced when his phone rang.

"Please go away, whoever you are", he mumbled.

The phone won't stop ringing though. Daniel picked it up grudgingly, and looked at the phone screen with bleary eyes.

It was his mama!

"Hey, mum!" Daniel was suddenly wide awake. He sat up straight on his bed. His head swirled, but he decided he didn't care anymore. Grace wasn't someone who called so late at night!

"Dan... Danny" His mum whispered, making Daniel's heart shiver.

"What is it, mum?" Daniel asked breathlessly.

"Have you seen the news, baby?" Grace's voice was shaking.

"The news? No, mum... I think... I think there's a power cut", Daniel cursed himself inwardly for choosing such a remote place to live in Perth, maybe for the first time in a year.

"Wait! I'm sending you something..." His mum cut the call abruptly.

A moment later, Daniel received a WhatsApp message notification.

He had never clicked on a notification faster in his life. What he saw on the screen made him rub his eyes in disbelief!

"Perez to leave Red Bull in 2024. Veteran Aussie driver a surprise contender to replace him?"

There were two images below the newspaper article - an image of Checo and an image of DANIEL!

This had to be a mistake, Daniel mumbled to himself. He had not approached Red Bull, RBR had not approached him either. This was such a random thing!

For a moment, Daniel felt a rush of irrational anger towards the media, for publishing such a clickbait article...

Until he saw another message, from a certain someone who had haunted his dreams for the past one year.

Iron Fist is Kinda Weird

Or: How do we talk about talking about social justice?

I have a diseased brain poisoned from reading comic books since elementary school, and I think it's fun to look at bad things and wonder why they're bad. I ended up writing Danny Rand AKA The Immortal Iron Fist for my Moon Knight fic series and I got so deep into researching him and the Heroes For Hire that he began to interest me. I ended up having a lot of opinions about it, things went out of hand again, I wrote a very weird Iron Fist story, and I'm officially giving up and putting my thoughts down about the character.

TL;DR: Iron Fist's history, character, and most notable relationship has an intrinsic relationship with race that really shouldn't be ignored, but the consistent framing of the character is highly revealing of the assumed context of media about social issues.

Yeah, there's some stuff to talk about. Rest under the cut. I want to make a giant disclaimer here that I am speaking from the perspective of the origins and histories of the characters, and that I am sourcing from the 1970s-1980s Heroes For Hire comic.

Unfortunately Important History

In 1974 comic book executives realized that martial arts movies were highly popular among teenage boys and were making a lot of money. Similarly, the other comic book execs across the hall were also realizing that Blaxploitation movies were also super hot right now. Thus, Iron Fist and Luke Cage were born. With this identical genesis, it's fitting that they ended up so tightly paired.

Thanks in part to the martial arts movies and the booming Hong Kong and Japanese industries, Orientalism was at a huge high America. Probably highest since the 1920s when the whole archeology thing and movies with dancing women were really taking off. TV shows like Kung Fu, about a man who wandered around knowing kung fu, were about the glories of kung fu and featuring a half-white half-Asian man played by a white man. Similarly, Blaxpoitation movies (which I know relatively little about besides the fact that the NAACP hated it, so that's probably the main takeaway here) were probably the first American film genre predominantly featuring Black people. Blaxploitation films...talked about Black issues...kind of...in a way, and you can see that thread in Luke Cage. The main thing you need to know about Luke Cage was that Dwayne McDuffie, one of the founders of the imprint featuring the only comics that actually deserve to talk about race (DC you neutered Static Shock), hated him. The background for these guys and the cultural & media landscape that gave birth to them is important, but you mostly just need to get that they were born from an American voyeuristic fascination with sensationalized depictions of other cultures.

Frog (Luke) and Toad (Danny) Are Friends

To their credit (?), they did eventually realize this about themselves, and Danny and Luke's strong friendship was characterized by their polar opposite backgrounds. Danny had been adopted at nine years old by the mystical Oriental city of kung fu etc, became the specialest little white boy and harnessed his chi to become the hero of K'un Lun, and travelled back to America in a revenge quest to find his father's killer and avenge him and inherit a fuckton of money. Luke was in a gang and then prison and he's very bitter about the prison industrial complex. They're good friends and a great team, but you can see repeatedly that no matter how seamlessly they work in the field they essentially can never understand each other. The most interesting parts of their relationship involve the push and pull of this disconnect, where Danny's naïve and clueless about America and Luke has to teach him about how the world works and the injustices that POC face. Luke teaches Danny about racism and checks his privilege like a thousand times a day. Observe.

Danny doesn't know or give a shit about money so he cluelessly tells Luke that they are best friends, what's mine is yours! Luke's tetchy about it because of Blaxpoitation Baggage. Danny's offended and he doesn't know why, Luke's old wounds are reopened and he struggles to explain it. Frog and Toad have racial conflict.

Danny is, basically, the clueless white guy. The backstory panels highlight that: he was trained in kung fu in K'un Lun, and now he's swimming in money and privilege in America and Luke feels weird about it.

Look at the way Danny talks about himself - Danny talks about his life in K'un Lun as if he had gone to the weirdest boarding school of all time. He talks about K'un Lun from a distance, using words an American would use. Danny is the privileged, sheltered white guy.

He does not think of Asia as an actual home. He doesn't identify with it. Narratively and thematically, he is a white guy who grew up in a sheltered place learning kung fu and now he's Dazed And Confused in America struggling to connect with his best friend's very unsheltered experiences.

The conversations Danny has with Luke about race are held as a white person. It is Luke explaining racism to a white person over and over again. It is a white person's clueless privilege being knocked down a peg again and again. Danny could be from Antarctica or Mars and his relationship with Luke would be he same.

Wait, Why Would A Dynamic Entirely Around Race Never Engage With The Fact That One Party Grew Up In Asia

You tell me buddy!!!

Why! Why make this choice? It is RIGHT there! Why would a guy whose entire schtick is living in Fantasy Vaguely Tibet from ages 9-19 never once speak from that cultural perspective? Why flush all of that experience and perspective down the drain?

Why would Danny engage with the world as a privileged, clueless white guy? He was just a kid when he left America. He doesn't engage with these conversations with Luke as, "Wow, your weird American situation's fucked up", he engages with it as "That can't possibly be what America is like!". Like a white person. There is no difference between Danny and someone who never left their boarding school as a child.

Is this really the most interesting way to talk about race? The characters, by virtue of their history and genesis, are inherently about race. Why are we talking about it as a Black guy constantly educating a white guy instead of as a Black guy talking to a white guy who grew up in Fantasy Tibet? As a a product of capitalism to a product of Whatever K'un Lun's Fantasy Economy was. As a product of a highly racialized society to an aracialized society. As someone who's from an area of great cultural and racial diversity to someone who grew up in a racial and cultural monoculture.

Why does Danny not have a complex relationship with his own race? He was the only white guy around for ten years, that has to be kind of weird. How does he relate his adopted culture to his home one? How does he deal with the white privilege he does hold when he doesn't understand why he holds it? I can seriously go on. I absolutely did go on.

None of this makes any sense. And the only way it makes any sense if if you see that Luke & Danny's conversations about race are not actually conversations about race. They are Luke explaining racism to the reader. Danny is the audience stand-in. The audience is obviously American white guys, so Danny has to be white and engage with the entire thing as an American white guy would. As he audience stand-in Danny has to come from the same place and viewpoint as the assumed reader, so he has to come from a place of white privilege.

It sucks. Not every reader was a privileged white guy. Not every reader was white. This narrative decision, conscious or unconscious, cut off a lot of interesting choices at the kneecaps. Because there is a basic assumption that white audiences cannot relate to nonwhite characters, and that they are incapable of looking through another's eyes and learning from their perspective.

How Do We Talk About Talking About Race?

Why should we care that Iron Fist is uninteresting and bad? This is not news. The premise has always been vaguely racist and boring. I've read some pretty nifty Iron Fists in my time and there are a fair handful of good Iron Fist comics, but the very root of the character is Orientalist. This Dances With Wolves style of 'story about POC but the lead has to be white or white people won't watch it' scenario is very old hat.

Heroes For Hire is interested in race. Luke Cage & Iron Fist are characterized by race. Their writers can admit this or not, but it's true. At its best, this inherent disconnect opens up the comics for potentially interesting breakdowns of racial dynamics, prejudice, the prison industrial complex, privilege, and American society. Luke & Danny talk about everything from capitalism to crime. Pretty reliably, the comic tends to actually try.

But all of these conversations are fixed through a white gaze. Luke talks through a white gaze, Danny's characterized by a white gaze, and these conversations are written with the white audience as the implied constant observers. At a certain point it never really feels like two different perspectives clashing and changing - just one perspective, talking about two different issues from both sides of its mouth.

I have mixed feelings on #ownvoices, but I think this is what people mean when they talk about it. There is a provincial, reductionist scope of perspectives allowed into the conversations Heroes For Hire holds, and although that's not a crime it's abjectly disappointing when compared against the interesting stories that could be told.

I haven't read a modern Iron Fist comic in like ten years, and the last time I read Heroes For Hire was during the cursed Civil War situation. I really don't know if modern Heroes For Hire and Danny & Luke are still like this. They probably aren't! But the same problems probably still underlie the two characters, and their origins will always occupy this strange space.

TL;DR: Read Milestone comics. Start with Static and move to Icon & Rocket. These are the only comics about race people should read. Look up their history sometime, it's fascinating. Ignore Luke Cage & Iron Fist. Good god.

Gosh, I had really strange and really dark McDanno dream tonight. I don't remember all, just some moments somewhere in season 2-3 era.

In the first part there was one of their cases and Steve almost died. He was ready to die, it was sacrifice/no big chances kind of action. In the last moment Danny saved him and when Steve came back from hospital Danny was damn furious. He shouted that Steve was stupid and that nobody wanted Steve to be dead. Danny's words were like bullets. "Don't dare to do this again". "We love you, you shmuck". "You're not fucking lonely Rambo anymore!". "Why the hell can't you see that? Why can't you see we will all be dead when you die, ha? I will be dead, Steven!". So it looked like Alex's old idea about Steve dying - but thanks goodness Danny was there.

In the second part (some time later) Danny and Steve argued again cause this time Danny was kidnapped and beaten by Wo Fat's people and Steve blamed himself. Steve was so shaken that he said that Danny and Grace deserved better and they had to stay away from Steve and his issues. For their own safety. Danny yelled that his family was Steve's family too (in this dream universe Steve and Ohana already met all Williamses/Russos) and that Steve needed to stop treating Williamses like fucking soft snowflakes who knew nothing about life and its darker side. Who knew nothing about love and loyalty.

In the third part some Navy guys (Steve knew them) including Mr Rollins came to ask Steve for a help. They needed him for some mission. By the way, Rollins treated Danny like "you may know Steven but you know nothing about our life in Navy, boy" and he generally treated Danny like a weak boy and weak cop. Plus he blamed Danny that he changed Steve too much (and it looked like he was bitter that Steve stopped dating his daughter). Steve didn't know about it all cause Rollins mocked Danny when nobody else was around and Danny stayed quiet. He only said that Rollins didn't like him and had no respect to cops and Steve was like "Don't worry, man. Soon he will like you! Remember how we two met in my garage? It wasn't easy either". So. Soon Steve was like "Okay, I'll help you" and the team wanted to help too but Danny was like "Hey, guys, there's something wrong, these guys...". But all were like "oh, Danny, please, you don't have to love Navy but don't see devils everywhere". And he said that it's not like that, that he loved Navy guys like Steve, Joe, Wade, Frank. He just felt that Mr Rollins and his guys were weird. He knew people, he knew something was wrong. Steve was like "You think that Rollins, oh I know you think he doesn't like you..." and he only wanted to ask Danny about his feelings, his instinct, he wanted to know something more about it but Danny... Oh, anxiety attack. He shouted at Steve "Oh, I knew it! I knew you wouldn't believe me cause it's your dearest Catherine's dad and...". "What?" Steve was shocked. But Danny was more and more hurt. "All your Navy friends, Cath... they'll always be fucking saints to you and even I can't change it. You're gonna be their forever, huh? You're gonna... You were right. I hate Navy ". Steve wanted to say something but Danny went away.

The fourth part was about Danny arguing with Steve and all team (about Rollins, about them all treating Danny like someone too soft for their world and so on - Danny really had enough and he didn't let them explain things, he was so pissed off that he took a break and went to Jersey to his "super soft super golden super naive family").

In the fifth part Steve and team (Danny was still in Jersey) went on their mission to help Mr Rollins and his guys. Part of the Navy guys was there and the other part "will be there where we're going" as Mr Rollins said. But it turned out that these Rollin's guys were really bad guys (Rollins wasn't aware of that, they just used him). I don't even remember what they wanted. I only remember that they planned something really big and they needed to kill all Five-0 and its friends. They treated Steve and his people with some gas and then broke Steve's and others' legs and chained them. Soon they took our guys and Mr Rollins somewhere far away from Hawaii, to some hidden base where those other bad guys were waiting (their faces were hidden under tactical soldier masks). "Good job" said one of the "masked bad guys" and gave all bad guys (I mean the group that came there with Steve and Five-0) water. "No one in Navy and HPD will find you", said one of Rollins' ex-friends. "They all think we're on mission, they'll all believe us when we come back and tell them about your tragic heroic death...". They chained our guys more and forced them to drink something. "Worse than arsenic, the pain is longer". They laughed and started drinking their water. "Cheers" - said one of the bad guys. And then they gagged our guys and said "We're gonna look at your pain but not gonna hear it". They said they're gonna burn them soon and that the bomb is hidden under floor, under Steve's legs, in a tunnel too narrow for Steve and his guys - just in case. The guys laughed more but then suddenly part of them started shaking and soon they were all paralyzed. Steve and the rest of the team were shocked and even more scared. But then these masked guys who still stood there and could move, took off their masks and geez, it was Danny. And Eddie. Clara. Stella. Bridget. Eric. And Bridget's husband. All Five-0 were in huuuuge shock and Clara wanted to explain all but then Danny looked at his friends, at Steve and he felt sudden rage. "They broke the legs, they... sons of a...". Danny started beating the paralyzed guys. Eric and Bridget's hubby started freeing Five-0. Bridget said to Five-0 that what they drunk was water and the real poison was now in enemies' stomachs. Stella said she would prepare their transport and she left with Bridget. Eddie said to bad guys "I know much about fire. And I know that it's not my family that will be burning". Clara then came closer to Steve and said "I lost one son. He didn't care about me. But there is another one. And I'm not gonna lose him. I'm not gonna lose you, Steven McGarrett!". "How..." - Steve tried to ask but then he started panicking. "The bomb!". "Don't worry. It's not our problem anymore" - said Eddie. Then Gracie came to the room. "The tunnel wasn't too narrow for me" - she said. "No, Gracie... Why? Danny! Danny, you can't..." - Stevie was in total shock. "She said she would do it" - said Eddie. - "She said she's your family too". Clara added: "Danny had no choice. He told her what to do, she did it". "What the hell..." - Chin tried to understand. - "How?". Then Clara started to explain that Eric called Danny cause he found out something about evil guys' plan. And when they found out bad guys took Five-0 Danny found the second group and killed them all. And then Danny wanted to call other cops but then they all felt it. They felt the rage. They felt they had to avenge their family. They had to help. And they made a plan. "It was stupid! It was dangerous!!! You shouldn't be here!" - Steven cried. - "Why?! Why you?!". Then Danny came to him and looked into his eyes: "Cause we're Ohana, one for all, all for one, you idiot". Then Danny kissed him and added: "Never ever say you have to leave us. By the way, we will find you and then you...". "I'm sorry, Robocop. I'm sorry...". "Don't be sorry" - said Eddie. - "Thanks to you we got our Danny back". "What you mean?" - Steve asked.

And then my dream ended and I have no idea what was that 👀 - a real plot in my dream world or maybe it was all just Steve's dream and when he woke up he understood some things? 😵‍💫

Danny I feel like gets put into the same box a lot of villains that are just a tiny bit goofy get shoved into where he's treated like he's stupid, incompetent, overly friendly towards people he shouldn't (like survivors), etc. etc. And don't get me wrong, I love dumb memes and funny posts, but it really rubs me the wrong way when it's dragged into serious writing. He is a man that are bare minimum that we know of has killed at least 30 people without being caught. That isn't something that cute or funny or sweet, that is horrific.

He is not a nice person, he is far from a good person and no matter how much people try to baby him because his dad groomed him into being that way he will forever be a monster who destroys lives and communities for the fun of it. To him it's just another story, but to the families he is a man who took away their world. Imagine the parents he's killed? What are those kids going to do?

It's just an issue I see constantly whenever I go into his tag or any other s.lasher tag for that matter. People try to bend these characters to be the ideal partner for them and it's super weird to me. Especially when it's people being like "oh well ghosty mains in game are goofy and fun so that means he's just like that in lore".

I honestly don't have an issues with League lore when it comes to him, I really enjoy the way he's written and the way you have to pick out what he's lying about and what he isn't by reading Jayce's lore and stories too. That being said:

Arcane I love as a series, but I wish it would've let Viktor have the ideals he does have in League I think it would've helped with the way the fan base of it really tries to baby him and treat him like he's a poor innocent baby that can't do anything on his own. But I can't really say too much until we do get to the point where he does become the herald and the falling out between him and Jayce.

I honestly am dying to know what exactly what happened between him and Vittorio, because they went from Italy, to Spain and all the way to Portugal on horse back where u have to follow water ways because horses need a lot of water, so they were around each other for probably 6 months minimum and in that time they went from being fine to Tarhos fucking despising him and everything he stands for because he's asked to find another way. I don't know sounds like bitter exes to me-

Oh definitely. The legion are already so inconsistent in lore that with every new cosmetic flavor text I feel like I have to alter something. Like before I knew tomes existed I thought it was only Frank who was murderous, because that's how it's framed, but in their tome as funny as it is a lot of hat they did was Julie's idea. She came up with the idea, named them, even suggested they break into Joey's work which got them to murder that janitor and even flat out asks Frank if he thinks he could kill someone and isn't happy with his answer when he says no.

I feel like wit hthe comics coming out soon (I have mine pre-ordered 👀) it'll make me at least have to pick and choose what I consider cannon like I already have to with their lore anyway, because again it's so inconsistent. You literally have cosmetics calling Susie a sophomore, but the devs saying they're all 18-21. It's that inconsistent.

Because we talked about it on discord: Yijun would ABSOLUTELY sell alpha male courses, he doesn't believe a single fucking word the sells, but oh my god if it doesn't get him attention and make him money. The demon knows what he want you can't fault him for that.

Oh geez. I know I’m very behind, but late is better than never. So, I’m wishing @danni-the-puff a very happy belated birthday (almost a month later, whoops)! Rather than gifting art (since RL is cray and there’s not enough time in the day), I thought I’d do something different by combining hand-lettering, paper stars and fic recs to celebrate how amazing Danni is! Danni is a caring human and a friend who has such a bright and bubbly personality. She’s also so supportive and enthusiastic about people’s creations and she has such a way to lift people up. I first started to get to know Danni through a couple of rare pair servers (and then through Wizarding Creators Den and CoMs). I especially love seeing her Tumblr posts about writing, meta and more. She just knows her stuff, and she has such interesting insights to share about a lot of different topics. If anyone has read Danni’s fics, you’ll know she’s a long-time lover of Snarry (and rare pairs). Her writing blows me away, whether it’s fluffy, sexy, angsty, rough, or out of this world. Danni knows exactly how string words together so  they flow so smoothly and poetically, with intention and a punch. That’s such a hard thing to do, but she has that gift! While there are some tropes and things I don’t usually read, Danni’s work somehow beckons me to take the chance and discover something new (well worth it too!). Her passion for Snarry is truly amazing, and I’m reminded why a good chunk of my fandom friends are Snarry fans. Maybe we all just know how to get along; I have no idea, but I’m totally for it, especially when it comes to bonding over and delving back into old-school fandom vibes (if you had a LJ during the early 2000s, you know exactly what I’m talking about). Some of my favourite Danni fics are: >> Obscene (Snarry, E, 1.9k): Summary: Never has Severus been so wet outside of heat. It’s humiliating; obscene. A/B/O is not something I generally read, but this? Is smokin’ hot. If you want some push and pull energy, desperation and delicious smut, go read this ASAP! >> Orange Blossoms (Snarry, T, 3.5k): Summary: These are foolish times to have hope, and more foolish still to be in love. The way Danni uses flowers in this is so beautiful. So many subtle messages and secrets woven in and passed along, and it really does make this such a sweet story. Harry, of course, is very insistent, and he’s such a Gryffindor. >> Lover Boy at Play (Snarry, E, 4.5k, mind the tags): Summary: These are foolish times to have hope, and more foolish still to be in love. Okay, if you want a classic teacher/student fic, go read this one. It has so much packed in when it comes to feelings and sex and trying to figure a lot of things out. From bitterness to jealousy to want and tenderness, Severus definitely does through all of these emotions. Harry is Harry with his cheekiness and determination, but he’s also a real person who is open to learning (and pleasing and wanting). And when these two come together (heh), it’s turns out to be something really gorgeous. >> The Green Dress (Jegulus, E, 1.8k): Summary: Christmas is no time for sulking over lost love. Not when there is new love in a pretty green dress. The angst and cross-dressing was all I needed to go read this one. It’s sweet, sensual and sexy. And if you want something to pull your heart and break it a little, this will do it. >> A Little Taste of Wasting Time (M, Fleur/Hermione, 1.5k): Summary: “One cannot learn all from books, ‘ermione.”. I am pretty sure this was one of the first rare pair fics I’ve read of Danni’s, and I love how it’s suggestive, but there’s absolutely no sex. All the flirting and innuendo are in the dialogue, small actions and glances, and that’s enough to leave things to the imagination and make this super hot. >> ALSO: I am currently reading, Contempt (E, 20.5k, mind the tags), which was written for Snarry-a-Thon: Summary: Harry hates Snape, and he always will. (He will, won’t he?) I won’t say too much (yet), but if you’re looking for a post-war, complex love/hate fic that also has wanting, obsession (from both sides) and a lot of messy situations and feelings, give this one a read too. I’d love to know what you think, since I’m loving it so far! Check out more of Danni’s work, and give her some love for her great contributions to fandom. Not as it Seems

Prompt Drabbles #1

Hello everyone! I'm Hailey (For those of you who don't know me) and I'm pretty new to the Hawaii Five-0 Fandom. I'm wicked happy to be here and super stoked to write some fics! I have quite a few of them floating around my drive and I wanted to start getting them out there. I wanted to start small with some drabbles and work my way up from there. Get the characters right and such. I have a feeling I'm going to be picking on Danny a lot I felt drawn to his character and you all know how that goes.

Please note that I do not have a beta so there will be an odd mistake here and there and I apologize in advance for that!

The word prompt I was given for this Drabble was "Nightmares" and it turned into something very interesting which later inspired a couple of different supernatural Au's that I currently have in the works!

And I'm rambling. Enjoy the fic, I hope y'all like it! -H

The basement was freezing and dark, the only light he could see was a flickering bulb hanging precariously from the ceiling. Swaying it cast shadows. Shadows that somehow danced and whispered to him. Laughed, wept, mocked, and growled. Danny forced back screams of his own in a poor attempt to be defiant against the demons in the dark. 

The air was tainted with copper, and something so sickly sweet that Danny had to swallow repeatedly in order to keep whatever was left in his stomach from making an epic return. The only thing left in this place was death and despair. There was no hope here for it had left long before he was even born. Cursed the locals said. A wound left to fester bitter against anything good in the world. 

The bulb flickered again, buzzing and clicking at him in warning. Danny shifted off the bottom step onto the dirty blood encrusted floor. His steps echoed like thunderclaps and voices whispering all around him hushed. As if they were a crowd quieting for a performance. Now it was much too quiet. 

The light fizzed and popped the closer he got to the center of the room. He was unwelcome there. More so than any one of the locals; he was a Haole after all. Danny’s breath caught in his throat as the light above him flared back to life. 

Settled in front of him was a barrel. 

Scrambling backward, Danny on pure reflex alone pulled his weapon from its holster. The laughter that came from the dark - churning like a vortex -  made him scowl. No matter how long it has been what happened to Mattie will forever cut him like a serrated blade. This wasn’t real. He was no longer in a basement, but his own mind. Danny watched as the small enclosed space grew exponentially. One by one a hanging bulb flickered on and beneath that light was another barrel. Names of the people he loved on the side of each and every single one of them. 

There were no ghosts here. Only parlor games. 

Taking a deep breath he closed his eyes and listened. Really listened. The whispers now only tickled the back of his mind as they should. Warning him, not taunting. Thunder rumbled and rain poured down on the roof way above him. The sound of distant sirens eased some of his tension. Gripping his service weapon tightly Danny listened as another walked around him. Shifting in the dark, waiting. Breathing. Not dead like they had originally thought. 

Danny had to give it to them; whoever they were. It was pretty ingenious. Build off of a local legend and just let the stupid roll in. A never-ending feast. The air shifted around him again as the creature surged forward with only one thing in mind. Feed. Danny only had a split second to save himself. Bringing up his gun he spun around and fired. 

Looking down at the man Danny cocked his head to the side. He was sure Max would conclude after an autopsy that it was a vampire. A completely rabid one at that, it didn’t care who its next meal was or how he got it. Pressing his lips together he saw decomposing spots on the vampire's hands and face; shaking his head Danny moved on. Taking the stairs two at a time he pushed his way through the derelict house so he could meet his team. Multiple weapons were trained on him for only just a moment before Steve was on him. 

“Jesus Danny, what the hell? Are you okay?” 

Danny waved him off and shouted over to Duke to call Max and CSU. “Damn Vampires,” he grumbled to his partner and inclined his head slightly. “No offense Chin,” 

The Lieutenant smiled wryly at him. “No worries Brah, I know you love me.” 

Steve snorted and squeezed Danny’s shoulder, a sign saying ‘We’ll talk about it later,’ 

Kono grinned and the rain tapered off. She shook her head her brows furrowing in confusion,

 “Are you telling me that this was a vamp the entire time?” 

Danny shook the water from his hair and shrugged, “He had a flair for the dramatic. Rabid. I think he may have had help. Some heavy-duty witchcraft down there.” 

A tense silence fell over the team. “Damn,” it was all something they could agree on. The Vampiric disease was spreading and they had no clue how it came to be or how to stop it. All they knew was that it turned Vampires, who could be some of the sanest people left on the planet, certifiable. Psychopathic. Almost animalistic in their killing; drinking more than should be possible. They’re decaying, falling apart and the only thing that holds them together was blood. And a lot of it. The only sure thing they knew was that it was a curse. A very powerful one. 

Danny only hopes that they can find the source before the disease reaches too close to home.

I guess I'm the only person in the world who doesn't listen to the same songs over and over, so I don't really have that many I could list. But nonetheless, here's 5 songs that have been on my mind for various reasons.

1. Honey by AFTERxCLASS

Not super familiar with this artist outside of this one track, which I think is their most popular, but I love it, it's super catchy. Came up again on shuffle recently and I've been thinking about it a lot because I realized the part where they say "you're bitter as shit" is sung to like the exact same tune as the Danny Elfman Batman theme, I'm pretty sure. I almost want to do an edit lining it up to prove it, but it wouldn't be worth the effort just for that. I mean I had a few other ideas that could work to turn it into a YTP or something, but probably not enough.

2. Super Mario Land With Lyrics by brentalfloss ft. Dave Bulmer

I've been playing a lot of Mario games recently, including Super Mario Land for the first time, and I'm embarrassed to say I've listened to Super Mario Land With Lyrics enough times that it's all I can think of when I hear the world 1 music from that game. I'm not even super into brentalfloss or anything, I only know a handful of their tracks, but the few I know I know really well, just because I've had them in my library for so long and they've come up on shuffle so many times. I could probably recite the lyrics to both this and Ocarina of Time With Lyrics all the way through, maybe without even listening to the songs. I don't even like them that much! I think they're neat, but not enough to know them this well! I NEED HELP!!!

3. We're Not Candy! by Long Island Regional Poison Control Center

This very well may be stuck in your head too, since these videos keep getting recommended to everyone. Some may say it's kind of a meme right now. I wouldn't go that far, not enough different takes on it to say that. I was working on an edit where they say they actually are candy, but... FUCK! Someone beat me to it! Two days ago! God damn it, I've been working on mine for like a week or two, I'm just really lazy! This one isn't even good, it's like way too long, maybe I should still do mine. That's honestly the version that's stuck in my head right now, just those beginning lyrics but instead of saying like "We could make you delirious" they say "We could be delicious". Nobody else make this edit!! I call dibs!!!

4. Streets by Doja Cat

I just really like this song, I often find myself muttering the lyrics of this one out loud. Particularly the whole rap verse with the Final Fantasy line, love that. The way the lyrics flow into each other there makes it a big ear worm for me, even without hearing the music. Just really fun to recite.

5. Icy Tower Theme (NES/2A07) by Zlew

Just got done streaming some Icy Tower a little earlier, and damn I could groove to that kazoo menu music for hours. But I especially like this cover I found on Soundcloud. I think the cover art is like the second image search result for Icy Tower which is how I found it like a year ago and also how I rediscovered it earlier today. Just a really stellar chiptune take on Man of Constant Sorrow imo.

150+ year sequel of Danny Phantom has a new, mysterious character! She’s a halfa and likes going to school.

Sammy (real name or last name unknown) likes a neutral color scheme, often just wearing black and white because she cannot dress herself properly. 

Her obsession seems to be something related to technology as she steals Ty’s phone all the time.

She never talks about her father, but he seems to live permanently in the Ghost Zone with her twin and pure ghost half sister. Nothing much is known about him, but he seems to be pretty traditional and barbaric. Her mother is out of the picture and she has been told she was a random human. She looks closer to her than her father.

She is an example of a halfa who cannot control their physical appearance. She has one permanent green eye and her hair color will not darken no matter how much hair dye she uses. She looks closer to human than ghost. Her skin is just a little too pale and her hair is so blonde that it’s closer to white than gold.

- She has been visiting Earth since she was small. She just recently was able to attend human school.

- She is very jealous of her older sister as she is pure ghost and is loved by her father. She is bitter towards her brother for rejecting his human side.

- Her father is neglectful and does not care where she disappears too all the time. He is just looking to raise the perfect kid and really dislikes humans, but can tolerate them for the sake of his two halfa kids. 

- Her powers are weaker compared to her siblings, but she enjoys vr and can make the power go out if she gets emotional.

- Her and Ty were outcasts who bonded over that. Ty sees her as his little sister and wants to take care of her.

- Her cooking is super bland, but she has to eat to get energy as she is a halfa. Some ghosts eat for fun and some halfas do too. Older halfas don’t need to eat as much as younger ones.

- She likes scaring Ty with her ghostly powers. She sometimes will turn invisible in front of him or phase her hand through him. She hasn’t mastered possession yet, but once she does, she will be the biggest prankster.

- Since her powers are underdeveloped, she unconsciously does things like absorb electricity from strangers’ phones or float a bit.  

- She’s in love with a mysterious ghost that keeps wrecking stuff in town and covers the walls with ectoplasm. She wants to find him and see why he’s doing this.

- She is the only halfa in her school???

I also wanna clear some things up about halfas since in my head it seemed off that the Fenton family is the true origins of the halfa gene.

Since it’s been so many years, there are branches of the Fenton family now. Danny’s kids Misty and Jackson had kids and Dani had kids. The Fentons are the head branch and then there’s the smaller families or ones who broke off. Dani’s lineage actually starts to get fuzzy after a few years and no one really keeps tracks of her descendants in the Ghost Zone. 

So yes, every halfa is somehow related to a Fenton. Their population isn’t really big and it is even smaller in the human world.

If Sammy wants to start looking into her origins, she would start at the Fentons.

It's a shame the tome didn't explore any of Danny's playful side but I'm inclined to think, in the same way that confidence and precision are traits of ghostface and not so much Danny, the playfulness is a trait that belongs to ghostface. in a strange way, I think ghostface takes himself.. less super seriously? It's really clear Danny considers ghostface essentially his own person, and that's why when he like went apeshit murdering the newspaper dudes he was like, ghostface wouldn't do this I'm framing you instead, he cares SO much about his personas image, more than his own, I feel like Danny, being such a bitter misanthrope, probably wouldn't allow himself a lot of silliness. I think that would make him feel vulnerable, you know? He could probably fake it if the situation called for it, just like how he fakes his personality at work as like being a fine professional gentleman. But left to his own devices he's just so traumatized and walled up. It even gives me an impression ghostface would be significantly less bothered by the whole parody thing. Like when Danny saw the newspaper when he was about to kill that guy and it like threw him completely out of his headspace? I think ghostface is everything Danny wants to be, and like, is somewhere inside but can't see that person when he looks in the mirror, he sees it when he looks at the mask. I think he loves the entity's realm because he gets to be ghostface nonstop and never has to be Danny, infinite escape from his own feelings. Fucked up if true. But it means he gets to nonstop have fun hence the selfies and such, like he's always playing, it's always his roleplay, his artistic vision, entertainment. In fact his serial killer sona was an invention to cope with trauma and soothe it,like, literally, that is why he became a murderer, as a maladaptive coping mechanism, and makes a lot of sense he'd make that sona a better version of himself as strange as that sounds, better being subjective to him like obviously killing people is bad but TO HIM he genuinely thinks he's doing the world a favor and to him, out of all the inspiration he takes from his idols and such, the perfect concept of who should carry that out, is a stronger person than he is. And he's literally just larping that.

Aita sighs pulling his cigarette from his lips, "I'm worried too Robin, but I don't want to destroy a friendship just so one of us can try to fix something that's not up to us to fix. But what I do know is that Haru fucking hates how he'll tell you everything, but won't tell him shit, so I don't think he likes you much."

That wasn't really what he wanted to hear, not when he had just been respectful and asked Aita what was going on - his stupid feelings and genuine affection for the rabbit completely blinding him to the poosibility that he could weasel it out of him. Of course he had just outed and asked him, not he would never get any sort of answers in regards to this - Aita wasn't stupid, even if he tried to pry it out he'd notice. His nails tapped along the flat of his desk as he tried to hold back the cornea-snapping eyeroll at his own behavior, love always made people stupid. Keep them happy, keep them feeling safe and comfortable, naturally that care would eventually bite him in the ass. There was only two people in the world he should be caring about, and yet Aita - just a business partner - had wiggled his way in and caused him to act foolishly in the pusuit of knowledge. What a joke.

"Pfft, jealous much? I've known Tarhos for how many years now?" Granted he wasn't about to spew that he had just learned how to pluck and pick apart the threads that sewed the veteran's mouth shut; he knew just what topics, words, phrases to say. It was a fucking craft at this point, one that only the most patient could learn and he was going to be hated for it? That tattoo artist was lucky that Robin made Tarhos talk at all, without it the assistant was sure his friend would have blown his head off years ago. Now he would never say it outloud but it was almost insulting to assume that Tarhos would just spill his life story to someone he cared and loved; as if that was just a "get into their head" free card.

How much muck, drudge and dirt did he have to crawl through and reveal about himself just to get Tarhos to speak for a little? Scars for scars and yet Haru thought he would get all of that precious info for free? Robin's jaw felt tight as he stared through Aita while his thoughts fluttered around his skull so violently he was nervous they might break out of the bone like butterflies. Only when he shifted and the sunset's orange luminescence caught upon his engagement ring did he let his mind settle; it wasn't as though he hadn't done his own research on Haru, and he knew for a fact that what he'd told Tarhos about was bullshit. Whatever killer he had thought up had almost no influence within the town of his supposed youth - he'd scoped high and low, even gotten Danny's investigative skills involved and not a single fucking thing had popped up. A bitterness swelled inside of him; yes he lied for work, but to his other half? The thought of it made him sick; what other shit was Haruko hiding away?

both eli and peppers post-dana thing is abt forgetting how to be a human person in society but eli’s is becoming even more self-important and forgetting how to make connections with people, but also coming out of this period of thoughtlessness where they had lots of people who like them and were interested in them (both their friends who aren’t there and people who were interested in them for their art or social-climby reasons) and a lot of these people are losing interest which is very scary and confusing for a person who has always been liked and desired and considered themself gifted in conversation and making friends and can feel themself being slowly pushed out of these circles and doesn’t know what to do and it’s making them even more bitter and weird and quick to defend themself and the snake eats its tail and pepper’s is this thing where now that all her friends are either dead (dana), gone (danny), or becoming very offputting (eli and valery) and dana and eli were kind of the groups connection to the outside world like really only were going to things or meeting ppl outside of their group through them she has to figure out ways to entertain herself on her own so she takes a lot of walks thinks things that amuse her and doesn’t really talk to any people and eventually builds this really complicated and rich inner world and develops all these personal traditions and occupies herself by living this highly highly ritualized life and just by amusing herself alone becomes deeply deeply strange and she doesn’t really talk to people very much except for work or going to the store so it’s not super a problem but when she does talk to people outside of a professional setting and later when she has to reintegrate into society it’s like she’s come home from living in another country bc she’s kind of forgotten which things are regular things from the regular world and which things are from the made up version of ny that exists only in her mind and she’ll try to talk to ppl abt like what regulations do you think the pigeon union are putting in place to prevent flying into window accidents bc i’ve been seeing less of that lately and no one really knows what she’s talking about and sometimes you could think it’s a joke but sometimes it’s like if you make a left turn on your walk you have to skip or something and this eccentricity is so so deeply ingrained it’s kind of irreversible but she’s really having a lot of fun truly

The Ghosts in Danny Phantom Were 100% Intended To Be Dead AF and Here’s Why

Or a super mega compilation of all my ghostly evidence 

I'm sure the Phandom remembers the famous cursed BH quote from 2017, but to recap, he claimed on his YouTube channel that ghosts were simply monsters from another dimension, later elaborating in 2018 that:

"We had a rule when we were writing the show that none of the ghosts would be dead people. We never wanted the ghost of a dead person. We wanted it to be creatures from another dimension that could take the shape of a human...but they would never be the spirit of a deceased person.” 

Don’t think everyone got the memo cause...that doesn't make sense. 

Off the top of our heads, most of us can name the most blatant pieces of evidence contradicting that. He’s tried to go around these instances using very convoluted explanations, BUT in the spirit (ha!) of pettiness, I've gathered every single quote and scene that disproves BH's wack ass claim. Pretty hard to dispute everything when there’s so much.

S01E02: Parental Bonding

The whole Cursed Amulet of Aragon backstory (w/images of Princess Dorathea alive)

Danny: “That’s it! Medieval ghostly legend held that the Cursed Amulet of Aragon could transform any wearer into dragon form under states of extreme emotional duress or anger.”

 S01E05: Splitting Images

The cursed locker 724 legend was around even before the portal, though it working was the catalyst to it functioning. Poindexter states, “finally, the doorway’s been opened.”

Danny tries to convince his worried parents not to stake out the locker and in response, Jack screams out, “Why? Is it haunted?!”

The whole legend of Sydney Poindexter, Casper High student from 1954-1958 as told by Tucker: “Locker 724 was originally owned by a Poindexter back in the 50′s. Poindexter was the victim of more pranks than anyone in the history of Casper High School. Apparently, picking on him was a graduation requirement. He got stuffed into his locker so many times, it’s believed his spirit still inhabits it to this very day.”

Danny to his friends: “Poindexter took over my body and sent me to this bizzare-o spirit world.” 

How Sydney describes Danny: “You’re a halfa! Half a human, half a ghost. You have all our powers on the human plane...”

Also just this whole overshadowing scene. Looks pretty ghostly to me.

S01E06: What You Want

Tucker coming in clutch again with the backstory. Again showing Desiree once lived: “That was my mistake, reminding Danny where the ghost came from. Apparently, Desiree was a harem girl who had been promised her heart’s desire, her own kingdom, only to be banished by the sultan’s jealous wife. She died of a broken heart, and old age. After that, her spirit roamed, granting people’s deepest desires, but at a great personal cost.”

Something else to note, as Tucker stated, Danny investigated her story via local ghost lore, right from the source where she came.

S01E07: Bitter Reunions

Vlad about his mansion: “In my castle, previously home to the legendary Dairy King...”

There’s a portrait of the DK when he was alive, and Vlad even convinces Jack to sleep over by saying, “You know Jack, the Dairy King’s ghost could haunt these very halls.” (which is true)

Fun fact to note: DK is the first very friendly ghost Danny encounters, stating, “Not all ghosts are evil, right? Some of us just want to be left alone, don’t ya know?”

S01E08: Prisoners of Love

Jack about the Specter Speeder: “This little baby has state of the art spirit plane exploration technology.” Again, he literally refers to the Ghost Zone as the “spirit plane.” 

Fun Fact to Note: This is the first time ghost lairs are mentioned, with Danny saying, “oh my god, every one of these doors opens to a ghost’s lair.” Also the first time he goes in.

Literal graves line the bottom of the Ghost Zone

Walker to Danny: “Just because you’re a ghost, it doesn’t mean I can’t crush you within an inch of your afterlife.” In the wise words of @lexosaurus​, man’s is basically saying, “Danny’s fucking dead.” Line starts at 19:03 of the episode, highlighting it cause I love it that much.

Walker’s quote is important because it clarifies that to be a ghost, is to be considered living in some form of afterlife. Refer to Birchman’s quote and tell me that’s not a contradiction to his claim.

SE01E09: My Brother’s Keeper 

Fun Fact to Note: This is the first time Jazz actually sees a ghost, as well as the first time someone outside the trio acknowledges what happened to Danny and how it’s affected him. “Ever since the accident...”

The famous scene where Danny’s mortality is put to question: 

“Look at you, what are you? A ghost trying to fit in with humans? Or some creepy little boy with creepy little powers?” “Both! Uh, neither-I don’t know!” “You’re a freak! Not a ghost, not a boy! Who cares for a thing like you?”

S01E10: Shades of Gray

Fun Fact to Note: Human weapons can’t hurt a ghost? Danny when Valerie hits him and he realizes it’s a ghost weapon: “Ow, that hurt! Wait a minute...that hurt?”

Extremely sad, but it’s heavily implied that Cujo is the ghost of one of the guard dogs that was put down by Axion Labs to make room for newer security tech, and is now on a search for his chew toy. 

Cujo has an Axion logo on his dog tag (they made it a point to zoom in on it)

How Danny reacts after trying to train Cujo: “That’s weird. This dog’s already trained.” 

A quote from the Axion Lab’s boss: “I knew we shouldn’t have gotten rid of those guard dogs.” 

The whole episode opened with Valerie’s dad ‘upgrading the security’  

They literally show the abandoned dog kennel. Danny connected the dots and pieced together the backstory right away: “A kennel? This must be where they kept all the guard dogs.”

S01E11: Fanning the Flames

Literally Ember’s entire song. Check out the full version here with lyrics here, and tell me Remember doesn’t sound like her whole story of life and death. Not definitive evidence, but song worth checking out. Issa bop. 

S01E13: Fright Knight

The Fright Knight description as reads in Sam’s book: “The Fright Knight, riding upon his ghoulish steed, the Nightmare, is notorious as the Spirit of Halloween. With his ghostly broadsword, he appears...”

Danny: “So he’s a ghost and he’s the Spirit of Halloween?” 

His lair is located in the Ghost Zone, which to reiterate, was referred to as the spirit plane by Jack

S01E14: “13″

Just an interesting observation on how ghosts can use ghostly objects to possess another person. Classic horror story trope.

S01E15: Public Enemies

Another bit of dialogue I absolutely love, and it happens right in the opening scene. As a prisoner tries to escape Walker’s prison, he yells back, “you’ll never take me alive, coppers!” To which, completely deadpan (ha!), Walker’s goon responds with, “You’re a ghost.” My dude sticks to his guns and snaps, “Well, you’ll still never take me!” 

^This is literally classic phandom death humor. Hinting, not subtly at all, that these people are dead. Deceased. Expired.

Principal Ishiyama talking about ghost safety protocol: “One, students are to have no contact with these spirits...”

Fun Fact to Note: Paulina has her first real interaction with Phantom here and acknowledges that he’s saved them. While the rest of Amity falls for Walker’s plan to frame him, the Casper High students recognize him as a hero.

Maddie at Danny: “Get your hands off our mayor, you odd manifestation of ectoplasmic energy and post-human consciousness!” 

S01E17: Maternal Instincts

It was confirmed that the animals chasing after Danny and his mom are ghosts animals that Vlad had experimented on while they were alive. 

Vlad introduces them to him with: “These are my latest experiments, what do you think?...I’ll give you five minutes before I send my minions to destroy you.” 

Danny stops the animals from attacking the second time by saying, “Finish me? But why are you mad at me? I’m not the one that made your pelts into wall art.” And then proceeds to point at said taxidermy. 

Vlad at the animals: “Don’t even think about it, you spectral freaks-I’m still more powerful than you!”

S01E19: Million Dollar Ghost

Tucker at the ghost hunters while giving a tour of Amity: “And if you look to your right, you’ll see Casper High, whose halls have been haunted.”

One of Vlad’s ghostly vultures: “We’re 2,008 years old. Be grateful we can move.” 

S02E01: Memory Blank

This is a conversation between Sam and Danny after she tells him about his ghost powers and he wants to get them back: Sam says, “Are you sure about this?” and Danny responds, “No, but you saw those things. Those monsters--ghosts! Ghosts were attacking our school.” 

^ A little observation, but Danny corrected himself to ghosts when he first said monsters. Like they’re not the same thing. 

When explaining everything initially too, this is the interaction: After hearing the explanation, Danny says, “I got super powers?” And Sam corrects him with, “Actually, ghost powers.” 

^ Like again, there’s something fundamentally different between just regular powers and ghost powers. The way you get them, the way they work, and how they’re tied to someone. It’s not the same. 

S02E02: Doctor’s Disorders

Tucker at the guards after spraying them with his cologne and they begin to cough: “Oh please, you’re ghosts. Do you have any idea what you smell like?” 

^ Which, uh, is he saying that they smell like death itself? Corpses? Like what’s my bro Tuck implying here? 

S02E04/05: Reign Storm

Pariah Dark’s army looks to be designed after the ghosts of fallen soldiers from past wars. It’s clearly very intentional. A Roman soldier, one possibly from WWI or WWII, and a viking are here below. Also just a whole skeleton army. 

Fun Fact to Note: It’s the first time that Danny publicly announces and is finally referred to by Amity as Danny Phantom. It’s been months since the accident at this point and they’ve been calling him Invisobill this entire time. This is also the first time his positive ratings actually surpass the negative ones. (at a 64/36 ratio) He’s been protecting them for this long while still being hated. That alone says a lot about his character. 

Skulker at Danny about PD: “Now go! Defeat him! So I can be free to haunt you another day!” 

S02E08/09: The Ultimate Enemy

Same concept here as with Pariah Dark’s army: The ghosts Clockwork plans to send to attack Danny are literally designed after deceased soldiers or warriors of the past

S02E14: Beauty Marked

To further elaborate on Princess Dorathea’s backstory, we know she’s from around the dark ages, but she confirms it herself as well. Dora at her brother: “1600 years of doing your bidding! 1600 years of suffering your insults! 

They’ve been stuck in the GZ since their death, trapped in time because of Aragon. They aren’t just imitations of humans, they were human. (Well, when they weren’t using their amulet to turn into dragons lol)

S02E15: King Tuck

The Legend of the Pharaoh Dul-Aman and his servant Hotep-Ra: Lancer says, “Behold King Dul Man. (Waves to another artifact) The King’s scarab scepter. The secrets to its dark magic are lost to the ages. (Points near coffin) The mummified remain’s of the Pharaoh’s minion, Hotep Ra. Ancient legend holds that he will return when the king’s image reflects anew in his sacred mirror.” 

^ He appears when Tucker looks in the mirror. After her solidifies, he states “I am risen.” His spirit literally made a return.

S02E17: Kindred Spirits

Yet another usage of the word “haunt”

^Tucker when the ghost Vlad sent after Danny appears: “What kind of ghost haunts a miniature golf course?” and Sam’s response, “Well there is a box ghost. Obviously all the good haunts have been taken.” 

S02E18: Double Cross My Heart

GIW agents after Danny asks them to leave him alone: “An unauthorized entity of scale 7 ectoplasmic power?” “A pre-pubescent specter operating freely? Unacceptable.”

Again, going back to Mirriam-Webster’s definition from before, a specter is: a visible disembodied spirit

S02E19/20: Reality Trip

LITERALLY THE MOST BLATANT PIECE OF CONFIRMATION: Lance Thunder is reporting the news about Danny getting the shit knocked out of him and he says the following: “It’s ghost-based chaos at the Casper High school’s out concert, where notorious ghost kid Danny Phantom is fighting for his afterlife!”

^ AFTER LIFE AS IN AFTER LIFE, AS IN POST MORTEM

Could be a stretch here but I found it funny lol: Sam says, “Can you hurry it up, Tucker? We’re on a deadline, emphasis on dead.”

Fun Fact to Note: We have another instance of someone not exactly sure what entity Danny is anymore: Maddie states, “we love you, sweetie, you” and Jack adds, “whether you’re ghost, boy, or something in between.” 

Miscellaneous Additions: 

Honestly, I don’t really believe Birch’s reasoning behind the choice in language of DP. There’s very specific words and parallels that indicate the word “ghost” refers to the traditional meaning. But according to him, the only reason they use this vocabulary is because, “we call them ghosts because it’s easier to say, and it’s more appealing than saying ‘monsters from another dimension.” Like yes it would be wordy to say that whole thing, but why would you settle on “ghosts” when the word refers to something completely different than what you supposedly intended and there’s thousands of other word choices you could have used that would fit much better. It’s just a really big stretch. Even the icons referencing them are shown as classic ghost silhouettes. 

There’s so many references to traditional ghosts. The school is called Casper High (Casper the friendly ghost), the town is called Amity Park (Amityville Horror), the Fenton invention names (like the Specter Speeder, Boo-merang, Specter Deflector, Wraith Wrangler ((wraith, according to google, meaning “a ghost or ghostlike image of someone, especially one seen shortly before or after their death”)), etc

David Kaufman himself (The VA of Danny) views the ghosts as expired lmao 

BH made this tweet as well like I don’t even know where’s he’s going with this claim anymore

BH literally has concept art with his official signature seal showing Danny leaning on his own tombstone!!! (The case should just rest there, how much more blatant can this be lmao. Also this photo is just super cool, I really have to give him props for this cause how bad ass. Don’t get how someone can back out of an idea as cool and unique as this years after it’s already been set in stone.) Like this pic was literally drawn on a storyboard template. 

This is all the proof I’ve gleaned from the first two seasons. I may have missed other things, or someone may call to my attention more evidence, so this post is open to future editing if need be. Season 3, which is mostly in BH’s hands w/o Marmel, then makes a very valiant effort at disproving everything already established up to that point, but I would honestly take that with a grain of salt. 

More than 2/3 of the show already establishes that the ghosts are in fact actually spirits of the deceased. That’s 40 episodes against 13 from S03. 

Also S03 doesn’t even do a good job at negating the ghosts are dead. Sure, the new ones are much less human-looking, but that just expands on the variety of afterlife that actually inhabits the ghost zone. Not just people, but concepts and ideas of a culture long gone or ideas held by humanity. 

Perhaps this change in heart was made on Nick’s part too, but since BH has been the most vocal about it...well, his statement is the one I’m making this in response to.

All I’m saying is that they’re very clearly traditional ghosts. And if BH’s values no longer align with the initial route of the show, then he should perhaps step back and let someone else take the reigns if there was to be a future for it. A head that would allow DP to reach its full potential without constantly backtracking and being inconsistent.
