I wasn’t sure if you meant in a relationship or just in general, so I went with the flow a bit and did whatever felt more suitable for each at the time (hence why some are longer)

Warning: I focused on showing bad traits and exploiting them so my apologies if any fan doesn’t like what I chose, don’t take it too much to heart!

A3! and their toxic traits

Sakuya – Conflict avoidance / Insecure

He definitely struggles to voice what he wants and needs because he’s afraid of upsetting people or his patner, which leads to Sakuya never deciding anything.

Afraid of rejection, instead of addressing conflicts or expressing his feelings openly, he tends to retreat into silence, limiting himself to smile, and definitely avoids discussing certain topics.

Of course, when there’s a fight he never wants to argue. Not to say he’ll just apologize, but he will try to find a solution (even if it doesn’t make much sense) to pretend it’s all good and everyone is content when in reality, it’s not.

Itaru – Childish / Half-assed

Has a tendency to talk about people behind their back when they do something that upsets him, instead of talking it out.

Sometimes going out with him feels like babysitting. He tends to complain if he’s in a place he didn’t want to be. It’s his day off and you two already saw one another three days ago, couldn’t he just have stayed at home?

Incredibly bad memory when it comes to remembering special occasions but try asking him when is the birthday of his favorite character… or maybe don’t.

Masumi – Overly intense / Tunnel focus

This boy’s downfall are relationships. Masumi has incredibly intense feelings – that’s no surprise, so when he finally falls the beginning is perfect, almost fairytale like.

But then he asks opinions about choosing a wedding venue. Asks about a having kids. When going to the store he even begins to look for baby clothes. First week gone and he’ll want to meet with in-laws. Want to move in together.

He loves so much that it’s overbearing and doesn’t realize how pressuring he is – how fast he’s willing to move everything. Still, what’s there to think? Their partner must want the same thing.

Chikage – Righteous / Emotionally Distant

Being with him, whether it’s in a romantic relationship or friendship, is emotionally draining.

While people pour everything they have into their relationships, Chikage, aside from the people from Mankai, won't even be half as invested. And all the time, patience, and effort that should've come from both parties is off unbalance which ofc turns into an eventual distance.

IF he’s ever confronted about it he sighs, because as expected, it now has become a tiring task for him. People know he’s usually like this. Why getting angry or bothered by his persona? It’s not like he was lying or anything to anyone.

Tsuzuru – Workaholic/ Untrustworthy

I think at first his relationships would be great. Tsuzuru does try to make time for friends/partners/family after all.

But sooner than later, he’s again cramped up with scriptwriting, uni, work... you name it.  People notice the pressure he’s under, so he’s usually proposed to take a break, to go with someone somewhere, but he just doesn’t listen. 

He will be apologetic “I’m so sorry, I have to complete this before the end of... “I forgot we were…” “I’ll make it up to you next time!” and it’s understandable, but he’s always like this.

If anyone insist too much, he might get irritated and snap, and if the person snaps back or leave he does realize how badly he messed up… but half the time, he won’t make a move. He’ll tell himself to talk it later.

Citron – Toxic Positivity / Overthinker

King of no one can be mad if we don’t focus on the issue? A little bit tactless given the situation as well.

And god bless him but while he takes notice if anyone is not feeling well, partner or not, he decides to be absolutely oblivious to their bad moods. If they want to talk about it he doesn’t get it either. Why is everyone upset about it, at least it’s over now!

Doesn’t like taking responsibility for his actions, making excuses to justify his behavior, so he tries to always have others or his partner on his side, just in case.

Tenma – Accusatory / Invasive

Always has something to say, no matter the argument – even if he's clearly the one in the wrong. Instead of working it out rationally, he shifts the blame away and pins it on the other person, guilt-tripping into thinking he's the one compromised.

If others were indeed wrong however, prepare for a non-stop nagging for days to come. If driven by his ego, this will escalate and in eeeevery conflict, this will be brought up.

In a relationship Tenma thinks he has the right to intervene in his partner’s personal affairs, meaning if they have something going on or someone they have a problem with, he’s going to lash out even if he was asked to leave it alone. What-? Why are you mad? You should be thanking him!

Muku – Pessimist / Passive

He want to know everything about everyone and in a relationship, his partner is always free to tell him about their problems… but that’s when troubles begin.

Overly sensitive, and when stresses he’s the type to blame himself in any situation which makes dealing with him kind of exhausting after a while.

That said, despite his kind self, Muku is overly passive in his communication. He often avoids direct confrontation, leading to unresolved issues which given his pessimistic nature as well have him tensed all the time awaiting when his actions might turn against him.

Since it really always his fault, you don’t have to remind him.

Misumi – Uncommunicative / Dismissive

Misumi, as many here, has a tendency to avoid confrontation and suppress his emotions, leading to communication barriers and unresolved issues in any type of relationship.

As it goes, this lack of communication prevents any relationship from progressing and resolving underlying issues, creating a stiff dynamic... at least from other people's view, since Misumi likes to get over things quickly and expects everyone to do the same. A little bit tactless in that sense.

This includes having a hard time taking the blame. He wants it to be on everyone. Even if it’s his fault, the closest anyone’s ever going to get is: Mmm we all said and did things we shouldn’t, right? let’s try to move on!

Kumon – Overwhelming / Unattentive

He doesn’t even know he usually speaks over or interrupts others but definitely knows he has the need to protect their partner.

He’s so deluded into thinking he’s doing a good thing by pulling their partner away from the slightest danger. Sidewalk is too crowded? He’ll insist to walk on the busy road. Too hot today? Maybe it’s better to stay inside. He pulls everyone away every time he thinks they are close to getting hurt. At first it’s nice, but does become suffocating.

And if it's his partner tells him they don’t need his help, he’ll laugh before assisting anyway.

In general relations sometimes he will not stop even if you can’t keep up with him if he’s too excited. He’s just go go go all the time.

Kazunari – Liar / Dependant

On one hand Kazunari knows he can be completely honest with his partner, but he can’t differentiate between being honest in a way that supports a healthy relationship without… sometimes being honest in a way where he says something to hurt their feelings. So yeah, he sometimes lies.

He also involuntarily crosses boundaries (no consent in certain lives, photos uploaded…) and suffocates with constant attention. He struggles with trust issues too, constantly seeking validation from his partner or others to alleviate his insecurities.

This behavior in the end becomes draining if he’s in a relationship, as his partner feels trapped and unable to maintain their independence.

Yuki – Non-existent filter / Accusatory

During intense moments of blinding anger, Yuki jabs out everything he thinks without ever sugarcoating it, and there really isn't much to stop that.

Also maybe because while logical most of the time, he’s a bit short-tempered in certain situations (especially when stressed), so if provoked or at least he feels recriminated, he'll say some really hurtful things, insecurities that people took time to open up to with him.

If something goes wrong and he’s not in the fault he’s quick to complain as well. He already knew what was going to happen, so why did everyone insist on doing it? And why would anyone think he will sympathise afterwards? 

Banri – Expectations / Charge

Wants to be in charge of everything. Prone to micromanaging their partner while stubbornly refusing to ask for help even if it’s obvious,

He has so much going on that if anyone crosses him, romantic relationship or not, Banri will play with the “I will leave if you want”. Because he would leave and he wouldn’t even feel regretful.

Because of his good memory and capacities, he tends to wait for people to catch things quickly. He didn’t bring coffee to class and expects people to know that he drank it on the way because morning rehearsal was rough. He didn’t answer anyone’s text so he expected everyone to know that needs revision – to him, that stuff is easy. What? No one knew? He always does similar details for everyone – he shouldn’t have to say it out loud every time.

Specially his partner. They should know what he’s thinking in these moments. If they don’t, maybe they didn’t love him as much as they said.

Taichi – Jealous / Low self-esteem

This boy lacks confidence in himself and the relationship no matter the type.

Catches himself thinking how everyone is much better than him – and in a relationship he’s scared his partner would leave him for anyone. Makes sense. They are perfect and kind, he’s just... him.

Of course he would want to be with their partner all the time, very clingy and overly emotional when arguing with him or when they tell him off. Might have taken a look or two at his partner's notifications of messages. He felt bad after though, he promises!

Juza – Self-esteem / Walls

Usually clueless about what he’s doing wrong and can’t seem to know how much effort to put into a new relationship, romantic or not. It could be days of not talking with him or him not answering just because he didn’t know if it would feel abrasive.

So yeah, I wouldn’t say he’s blinded by his anxieties and worries but then again, it’s not like he’ll ever talk about it with anyone either.

In a relationship, Juza wouldn’t think they love him enough to stay if he reveals all his insecurities. In his eyes, his partner will leave him one day, he knows it. They are too good for someone like him.

Sakyo –  Rigid / Controlling

Exceedingly strict but only when it’s related to him. Like, he doesn’t pick up the phone during work time because that wouldn’t be professional of him, yet when he’s with others? He continues mentioning work-related stuff or leaves to take calls.

There’s also certain controlling behavior in his romantic relationships. While he may initially come across as caring and devoted, his need for control becomes evident as the relationship progresses, leading to feelings of suffocation and resentment.

When in a fight, Sakyo is rough with his words and has to have the last word no matter what. His anger also lasts for days and the silent treatment is a huge thing. Will act like nothing has happened after that.

Omi -  Low esteem / Unwillingness to commit

This man's steps on eggshells with relationships, romantic or not. Omi is terrified to let anyone in and see their eyes judging.

In a relationship he’s too scared to show how much he loves his partner and honestly that very own cautiousness, that unwillingness to fall, hurts more than he realizes.

Omi is also someone who never expresses complicated feelings, either. He might just need time, but never asks for any.

People are left feeling like they might only be in the relationship because he doesn’t want to hurt their feelings. When asked he hesitates, which hurts the most. He can’t seem to understand he needs to let himself go. This happens again and again because in the end, Omi decides that it’s best to not fall at all – he doesn’t need another scar.

Azami – Extreme / Overly guarded

Azami is prude but as he grows, he becomes not so… accepting.

He scoffs wherever he sees something he doesn’t approve, and if in a relationship their partner wants to hold his hand, he’ll rip it away and lecture them angrily about how it might look to others. You should know by now.

As such, he tends to be emotionally distant and closed-off in all relationships. He struggles and often avoids discussing his feelings or concerns.

This emotional guardedness creates insecurity in the relationships, as many feel like they are unable to connect with him on a deeper level. His reluctance to open up leads to communication misunderstandings as well.

Their partner or friends must not love him, that’s the only reason he can think of – but he won’t show his fear of that possibility.

Tsumugi – Distracted / People pleaser

This young man doesn’t make it on purpose, which is all the way down frustrating.

He will have periods of time where he’s attentive to everyone, and in a relationship his partner is his number one priority.

Others becomes overly focused on his own pursuits, leaving little time or energy for nurturing any type of relationship. When he notices, he becomes again hyper attentive, doing anything for the relationship to not deteriorate.

But since additionally Tsumugi struggles to communicate effectively about his emotions and decisions, this leads to more distance to grow.

Hisoka – Ghosting / Short-tempered

Honestly he doesn’t look into the care and delicacy relationships take. Doesn’t answer messages nor call and if he does it’s quick and short.

He’s sparse with his attention. No, he doesn’t want to go out, partner, friend, or whatever should stop asking. Also it’s becoming annoying. When in a fight, if he finds it’s not important, it will always seem like he doesn’t care about anything.

Hisoka won’t compromise either, he won’t be more attentive, he doesn’t want to be, that’s too much work. And if they try to force it? Then people just don’t get him and probably just want to change him.

People unwllingness to accept and understand who he is only proves to him that this specific relationship whatever people what to call it, wasn’t meant to be, so he shrugs it off.

Azuma – Façade / Bottling emotions

No matter what, he refuses to share information about himself and can’t keep everything equal, whether you are a friend or his partner.

If there’s a feeling like something is off, and anyone mentions it rather than admitting what’s on his mind he’ll simply say that it’s fine, that all is good and perfect, and then proceed to bury it even deeper within him.

Azuma keeps burying his feelings in and trying not to resent whatever is causing him like this more and more until one day something happens and his emotions erupt out of him and he’s crying or worse, leaves for some time.

If anyone wants to know where he’s been, well, good luck trying to figure it out.

Tasuku – Rough / Absent-minded

Prioritizes his own needs and desires above others, resulting in selfish and insensitive behavior. I can’t imagine Tasuku changing his routine to fit someone else in, lover or not.

To him it’s pretty straightforward If someone doesn’t fall into sync with him, that’s life and this relationship just wasn’t meant to be. What? Why should he change the time he goes to the gym – shouldn’t his partner just get up earlier if they want to eat breakfast with him?

Or with his friends, sure he gets along, but why should he alter the way his life is, and try to finish rehearsal earlier? He doesn’t get the reason to change and tends to avoid fighting, not just because of cutting contact, but because he doesn’t want to fight with anyone... he doesn’t have time for whatever it is.

Homare – Overly worried / Opinionated

By now everyone should know that he will not give you much space when there’s a problem. He will constantly be asking questions about it and little time does he tries to listen to all versions or if he even should intervene.

And holy molly does he intervene often enough.

Also Homare doesn't get mad almost never, but becomes incredibly distressed when something goes wrong.

He won't say anything when he's feeling like that though. It's hard for him to control his emotions during a difficult time period and usually needs to be comforted to calm down but becomes so difficult when it’s time to allow people into the real him.

Guy – Distant / Trust

If this man ever has any type of problem, most people, partner included, will never know.

It’s not that he’s actively trying to keep things away, but he has no way of knowing that he should be sharing certain things.

Everyone’s held at arm’s length. His partner might think being his partner would make them close, but it’ll feel like he confides in his troupe more than them.

He doesn’t have a good example of what a healthy relationship is supposed to look like, so don’t expect him to do anything romantic unless anyone tells him so. He also doesn’t have a filter, meaning he’s brutally honest. No one should be surprised if he hurts feelings in his monotonous voice.

surprised the stillborn baby got that much of a reaction bc I know for a fact that at least a few people saw that one coming miles away. but ig the point wasn’t really to shock you. I actually think it’s worse when you sense that something horrible is going to happen but the characters in the story don’t know it so you have to watch them start to feel hope knowing that it’s all just going to be ripped away and then the horrible thing happens and there was nothing you could do about it. :)

how different is writing an actual book as opposed to writing fanfiction besides the obvious (og characters/backstories/plots)? Bc publishing my writing is something i’ve always wanted to do, but i’ve never felt compelled to be in depth with metaphors/subplots/motifs, and I’m sure they show up but in a natural way? Does that make me a less efficient author for just wanting to create vs putting together a puzzle? I’ve always liked books with plots to be clear and forward, while leaving room for dissection as like an extra activity vs something thats necessary, if that makes any sense, and I feel like that reflects in my own writing and I can’t tell if that makes it less — and for lack of a better word — good. Ik this is a lot, but generally if you’ve got any tips regarding the process and importance of some aspects of professionally writing, id greatly appreciate it <3

Hi, anon! Thanks for asking, let's see what I can do for you for some answers! ♥

How different is writing a book compared to writing fanfiction?

In my personal experience the biggest difference - just in writing, not editing, publishing, etc - writing a book versus writing fanfiction is actually with characterization. If you have a fully developed character in your mind from knowing what happens to them it can be kind of difficult to write them pre-development and have them change on-page. In fanfiction, usually you already have your starting point with the character and you only have to worry about how to get them where you want them.

(And also you usually can't use lyrics for your titles lol.)

In Depth Subplots & Motifs (& Foreshadowing, etc)

These things are super hard and can be very complicated, so don't worry too much if they're not your favorite thing to work on!

I think at least in regards to motif, if you're really writing from a genuine place it pretty much takes form as you go. Sometimes in the plotting stage you have only the "point" or you have only the fun delivery mechanisms - the characters, plot, setting. Whatever little pieces you start with, in this particular case most of the time the easiest way to figure out the shape of everything else is to just dive in and let it happen.

I also do that a lot with fanfiction, actually, because often it's a total accident. @kedreeva has a post about why sometimes you can realize you have to rework your plot only to find that what you've already written already supports your new direction. I think pretty much everything said there can apply just as readily to motifs and to the purpose your story is meant to fulfill for the audience, or for you. I don't remember any exact words from the post though so I don't think I could find it lmfao. It might be a ways back in my /writing-process tag, but maybe they have easier access to it and can share it again, in which case I'll come back and add the link.

As for subplots, those are really fucking hard and there's not much else I can really tell you about 'em. However! You don't always necessarily need a subplot. They can add extra depth to your characters and to your world, or they can emphasize your main plot, but frankly good character development alone can do those things just as well. It can be a little difficult to get a full novel if you don't have a subplot, but not everyone is a novel writer and that's good! Not everyone is a novel reader either.

Metaphors are also mostly for good flavor. Depending on your subject matter and your style, you might not need them either. Off the top of my head I don't think Steig Larsson (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) used many metaphors in his series, and that mostly just made the content feel more grounded. It's not for every reader (some might call it 'dry' or 'dense' or something like that) but for some people that's their preference!

You do of course need some background and flavor text other than just A, B, and C things happened, of course, but they can be in any style or amount of detail that you prefer. Your editor and test readers will let you know if something doesn't make sense or seems incomplete.

Does that make me a less efficient author?

If you're writing fiction, it's not really about efficiency! It's about being engaging. Stephen King and J.R.R. Tolkien both spend pages upon pages giving textbook-like information on their worlds or on character backstory that I personally would have said to cut if I was their editor, but again some audiences prefer that kind of read!

If you think it's more interesting/important/fun to spend time on literal description versus making your work fit an aesthetic, then that's what will be interesting/important/fun for the audience you'll find eventually.

The only thing you can really do to find a style that you are satisfied with and is readable is to practice, share your work, be open to critique (when appropriate ofc), and read a lot.

Other Tips

In fanfiction having an editor, beta-readers, critique partners, and maintaining a group of peers is all really kind of optional and honestly even above and beyond. In publishing that is 100% not true. You absolutely need an editor and test readers, and you need to keep up with other people in the industry and especially in your genre and/or publishing method (traditional, indie, self). Mutually assured success is necessary - not a nice extra - in publishing. You have to be willing to spend time on others' work and to accept the value of their input on yours if you want to make good art and reach an audience.

• you and Chan first met as kids, having gone to the same elementary school.

• you were a muggle-born, but knew that magic existed growing up because of some of the crazy things you saw around Chan and his magical parents.

• Chan told you stories of a school for witches and wizards called Hogwarts, and he taught you about the events of the Battle of Hogwarts and about the legendary Harry Potter.

• it all fascinated you, and you found yourself wishing that you had abilities like Chan was sure to one day.

• not only because having magic would be super amazing, but because you knew that, in just a few months, Chan would be getting a letter telling him that he'd be going off to an amazing magical school and leaving you in your stupid, boring muggle life

• Jisung only raised his eyebrows, smirking at you. You didn't know how to take that — so you shrugged it off, deciding he was only teasing you for some godforsaken reason.

• Watching Chan practice was far more interesting than you had expected. Quidditch had never really been your thing, and you mainly only went to Gryffindor games to support Chan. You even missed most Slytherin games, which led to Minho teasing you about how you were so "in love" with Chan that you didn't bother going to any game he wasn't in.

• Chan was different when he was on a broom. There was a fierceness in his eyes that you never saw when he was hanging around with you.

• you had noticed years ago that Quidditch brought out Chan's Gryffindor side, and his energy spilled out into his game.

• you watched as he stopped goal after goal, a small grin spreading on your face.

• he really was incredible. His talent probably rivalled that of Minho's, but Chan had never realised that because Minho, as a seeker, was often the cause of the more noticeable game events.

• Chan was humble, you knew, but you would have been okay with him talking about his talents because honestly, he deserved to.

• when practice ended that day, Chan insisted he walk you back to your common room, despite fully knowing that he wouldn't be able to get to Gryffindor before curfew.

• you passed Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs rushing up the stairs to make it to their dorms, but you and Chan walked together slowly, enjoying each other's company. You also passed some Slytherin girls, who watched you with snake eyes (bc they're snakes not bc they're Slytherins)

• Chan stood next to you for a second longer after he said goodbye to you at the painting. He looked like he was considering something — and after a moment, he gave you a quick hug

• you had 0 idea what possessed him to do that, but you weren't complaining in the slightest

• "See you tomorrow, Y/N!" he called before waving and leaving with the brightest (and prettiest) smile you'd ever seen.

• you kept replaying that in your head as you climbed into your common room, from how warm his embrace was to the smile he left imprinted in your mind.

• it wasn't the first time Chan had hugged you, but it felt different this time. You couldn't really explain it.

• your happy moments were cut short when a group of three or so Slytherins climbed in behind you, and you recognised them as the girls you and Chan had passed earlier.

• "You know you're a traitor, right?" said one of them, brushing past you rather aggressively. "Always around with that Gryffindor kid."

• "You seem to think I care," you said. "I can't be friends with a Gryffindor? Kind of stupid logic, really."

• "You care about that Gryffindor more than you do your own house," said another.

• "Obviously," you said nonchalantly.

• the girls said some more things that got on your nerves, along the lines of "Gryffindor and Slytherin have hated each other since the beginning and that's how it'll stay", and if not for the happy-energy hug Chan had given you earlier, you'd have knocked them out about five sentences ago.

• they were about to say something particularly slap-worthy when Minho walked down the stairs into the common room.

• Minho, beloved by all, was quite talented at getting people to shut up without saying anything, and so the girls scrambled up the stairs to their dorm room.

• "Thank you," you said to him, and he shrugged.

• "Get some sleep, okay?" he said. "Don't do anything stupid about those girls."

• "No promises," you replied before wishing him a good night and trudging up the stairs.

• you only dormed with one of those girls, and you knew she'd never try anything with the other students in there with you.

• however, on your bed was a slip of parchment folded up tightly

• unfolded, it read: "Romeo and Juliet died when they tried to create a bridge between Capulet and Montague. We won't kill either of you, rest assured, but we won't hesitate to make life very difficult for you both if you keep this up."

• the girl was staring at you.

• so, not breaking eye contact, you decided to pull out one of Chan's Gryffindor scarves he had given you in fourth year on your birthday, and you slowly wrapped it around your neck and intertwined it with your own Slytherin one.

• gosh you were petty sometimes

• it was fun

• honestly you didn't understand why they cared so much?? It wasn't their business at all.

• while some Slytherins gave you trouble, majority of them didn't care and let you be. Your house really wasn't that bad, the only reason you didn't have more friends was because you were in a constant state of grr

• so why did they bother you?

• it came to you that maybe one of them liked Chan and was jealous of you, but you figured that wasn't the case.

• eventually, you just chalked it up to old values running in the family, or maybe just a competitive spirit between the houses.

• the next morning, a Sunday, a sudden flame of indignity flared up in you, and you headed to the Hufflepuff table first chance you got.

• Jisung did not at all expect to see you, based on how he jumped and dropped bacon from his mouth when you tapped him on the shoulder.

• "What are you doing here?" His mouth turned into a small smirk. "Shouldn't you be off flirting with Channie?"

• "I need you to help me make something before the Slytherin and Gryffindor match," you said. "Can you come to the library after breakfast?"

• Jisung groaned. "It's my day off and you're making me do homework?"

• despite his protest, he agreed to help you out.

• you and Chan would have sat at the Slytherin table that day, but you convinced him to let you sit with Gryffindor instead — not because you were afraid of the girls (bc that would never happen), but because you wanted to avoid Chan finding out that something had happened.

• if Chan found out that people were giving you trouble, he'd worry about it and try to do something about it, and you didn't want to give him something else to stress over.

• Chan had hoped to spend the day with you, so you had to regretfully tell him that you were gonna be busy for a big chunk of the day

• you offered to meet him outside the Gryffindor common room at 4 so you could hang out before dinner, and he seemed happy with that.

• you should have known better than to leave Chan right after those girls threatened you, because when you had finished and said bye to Chan, they came over to your best buddy.

• "Where's Y/N?" they had asked. "I thought you two always spent Sundays together."

• Chan, who knew these girls as sixth years who you had snapped at before but didn't know much more about them, told them you were busy.

• "So... She's too busy to hang out with you, but she's able to spend time with Jisung?" the one who left the note said. Chan cocked his head at that, and she jabbed a finger towards the entrance of the Great Hall, where you and Jisung had met and were leaving together.

• Chan knew better than to get jealous, though he was definitely a little confused.

• so, he decided to ask you about it when you met up later that day.

• "So... are you and Jisung close now, or...?"

• you shrugged. "He's okay, I guess. I wouldn't call us close — honestly, you and Minho are my only friends. He's just one of the few people I haven't annoyed the heck out of yet."

• Chan nodded. "Then were you guys studying today?"

• "I can't tell you," you said, trying to hide your smile. "It's, uh, a surprise."

• Though Chan didn't want to get suspicious, he didn't feel better after that chat.

• and, just like that, those Slytherin girls got into his head like any good Slytherin would.

• Chan noticed every interaction you and Jisung had, which had become more frequent in recent times due to Jisung being your help for this surprise

• the surprise was a huge, 6 foot long banner, emblazoned in colour-changing glitter with the words "Go Chan!", and in small brackets underneath, "and Slytherin".

• you figured that making that banner would not only make Chan happy, but make it clear to the Slytherin girls that your best friend meant so much more to you than Slytherin, and that nothing would come between you.

• little did you know, something already had.

• you and Jisung finished the banner two days before the Gryffindor vs Slytherin game, and after dropping the banner off in your dorm, you came down to the Great Hall where you and Chan would be eating at the Slytherin table.

• you quickly noticed that there was no red and gold amongst the green and silver, and that Chan was sitting over at the Gryffindor table.

• "Hey, why're you here instead of at the Slytherin table?" you asked as you squeezed between Chan and another Gryffindor you knew as Changbin. Chan shuffled uncomfortably.

• "I dunno, why are you always with Jisung instead of me?"

• you faltered, realising that he was upset, and Chan continued.

• "Do you like him or something?"

• "What? Gosh, no," you cried. "I don't like him! I like—"

• You cut yourself short to stop yourself from spilling too much, but your hesitance to tell him only make Chan more upset.

• "Wow, something else you won't tell me," he muttered.

• this really wasn't like him, and you were beyond confused. Chan was one of the few people who you had never gotten mad at, but by the way the conversation was going, you felt that was about to change.

• "Chan, what's gotten into you?" you asked, doing your best to stay level-headed. Chan didn't answer, chewing on his steak angrily and avoiding your eyes. That was when you blew up at him.

• "How am I supposed to help you through whatever's bothering you if you won't give me the time of day?" you yelled, standing up. "All of a sudden you're just brushing me off? I haven't even done anything!"

• Your voice was one that carried, and people had started looking. Chan, red-faced, yelled back, "You're just so in love with Jisung that you throw me aside!"

• If he was anyone else, you would have slapped him — but there was some slim of sensibility still in you that stopped you. "Joke's on you," you replied, "because the only reason I was hanging out with Jisung was for you, because you're the one I'm "just so in love" with."

• and then you stormed out.

• and geez, you really should have known better than to get mad.

• because over at the Slytherin table, three sixth year girls were smiling to themselves.

• you spent the night completely regretting what you had claimed at dinner.

• You had just confessed that you were totally in love with Chan, and it was while you were destroying the friendship you had, all the while screaming in front of the entire school.

• Earlier that day, you had finished your big surprise for the person you cared about most in the world.

• And now, all of a sudden, two days before the long-awaited Gryffindor vs Slytherin game, the closest friends in the entire school were giving each other the cold shoulder.

• This brings your total of friends to two: Minho and Jisung.

• and those friends were seriously worried. Jisung, though he wanted to comfort you, knew that it was probably better that he try to talk to Chan.

• But Chan was avoiding him. He had stopped being mad at him when you said that you liked Chan and not Jisung, but Chan was now too embarrassed and guilty to be around Jisung.

• That left Minho to look after you.

• He would glare at people who whispered when they passed you, and he'd make snarky comments that you normally would have.

• He sat with you in the corner of the common room until everyone else went into their dorms and fell asleep, so you could avoid the hush that came over your dorm when you walked in.

• You felt bad, since you knew that between Quidditch and his own relationship issues, Minho could do without babysitting you — but you were in such a quiet state that you couldn't tell him to rest.

• On the day of the game, Minho came out of his dorm in his Quidditch robes only to see you in the common room, banner-free and in pyjamas, reading a magazine.

• "Y/N," he said in a warning tone, "Y/N, come on."

• "I'm not going," you said. "Not only am I mad as heck at Chan, but half the school will be there, and I can't be bothered dealing with more stares."

• Minho had never thought anything could quench your hot-headed nature — and this did not fly with him.

• The female prefect for Slytherin, a girl named Soyeon, had just come out of her dorm, so Minho asked her to grab the banner out of your room. When she returned, Minho tucked the banner under one arm, grabbed you by the wrist, and marched you out of the Slytherin common room.

• You struggled against his grip, and you nearly slipped out a few times. The only reason Minho was able to hang on was because he had so much experience gripping on to his broom in horrible weather conditions.

• So you, still in your pyjamas, are forced to march up the stands and sit next to Jisung, delivering the banner to him.

• (It crossed your mind that you could make a break for it, but you knew Minho would hop on his broom and nyoom after you in an instant)

• Chan searched the crowd, looking through the green and silver, not expecting to see you but truly hoping he did.

• After a moment of realising that, after what happened, there was no way you'd want to sit with the other Slytherin, he looked to the miscellany of Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff who decided to show up — and sure enough, there you were, pyjama-clad and sitting next to Jisung behind the glittering "Go Chan! (+ Slytherin)" banner

• the banner you had made to show the Slytherin girls that they couldn't stop you from being close with Chan, that he meant everything to you

• and as Chan realised that, all the anger he had built up spilled away instantly

• you, however, were still annoyed

• but as you watched Chan play even more desperately than ever, glancing down at you more times than he usually would, you found yourself grabbing onto the edges of the banner, a small smile spreading across your face

• After an extremely close save, a wide smile spread onto Chan's face and you saw him looking down at you.

• For a couple of moments, you shared that smile despite the physical and emotional distance between you.

• the game ended with a very close Slytherin win; Jeno, Gryffindor's newest Seeker, gave Minho more of a run for his money than he'd have liked. Based on the nervously amazed look on Minho's face when he had just barely grasped the Snitch before Jeno, you knew he'd be training even harder in future days.

• You and Jisung rushed onto the pitch, unable to reach Minho through the mob of Slytherin lifting him above their shoulders, but you could and did reach Chan.

• There was a second of hesitance for you both, before Chan swept you into his arms.

• You buried your face into his warm shoulder, tears falling onto his sleeve despite your best efforts.

• When you pulled back, Chan cupped your face and gently wiped at your tears with his thumbs, whispering, "Hey, it's okay, it's okay."

• And then, after a second, Chan gently planted an awkward kiss on your lips. There was a whoop from somewhere behind you (Jisung, you figured).

• It was a kiss that ended quickly, but got his point across.

• "I'm so sorry that I jumped to conclusions," Chan whispered. "I, um, I really liked the banner. You two made it look really nice, I appreciate it."

• "I'm glad," you said. Then you hesitated, and he noticed. He asked what was bothering you, and despite your better judgement, you decided to tell him about the Slytherin girls who were giving you trouble.

• Chan thought on it for a moment, before saying, "They were the ones who pointed out you and Jisung to me."

• That's when it clicked for you. The reason Chan had gotten mad, the sudden split between you that would have never happened on its own.

• And geez, did you have some snakes to slap.

• Chan had begun stressing over you getting bullied, but you told him you were fine. You said that you had thick skin for everyone except him, and that earned you one of Chan’s pretty smiles.

• "Let's not worry about it today, okay?" you said, taking his hand in yours. "We'll deal with it tomorrow. I want to...catch up."

• So you and Chan rejoined Jisung, who Chan fervently apologised to. Then the three of you followed the Minho-carrying mob to the Great Hall, where you ate at the Slytherin table (it was custom, after all).

• In the next few days, you, Chan, Jisung and Minho reported the bullying to Soyeon, who passed the message on to your head of house.

• The bully who you dormed with was moved to a different room, and replaced with a much more pleasant girl who you could even befriend one day, who knows?

• No Slytherin gave you and Chan trouble, and Gryffindors would often whoop and holler when you and Chan held hands at their table.

• As winter came, you and Chan were sitting out in the snow, fingers interlocked as you watched the Slytherin Quidditch team flying around in the distance.

• Chan looked at you, and planted a kiss on your cheek.

• "I love you too," he said rather suddenly. You looked at him, confused, and he smiled.

• "I know I can't exactly compare to announcing it in front of the whole school in a fit of rage, but I wanted you to know."

• and as you squeezed his hand tighter, whispering that you loved him as well, you could tell that the bridge between Capulet and Montague had been completed.

Ooh someone else who's not against Aaron crying more. That seems to no longer in en vogue 😂 I just want more Aaron full stop at this point. It feels like he's been underused so much recently (almost 2 years actually lol). Maybe not in stats but in terms of how it feels and actual storylines that last over a period of time. I miss him. Let him be rude to people in the cafe even idc. It's a given that I always want more Robron too ofc. Comedy/angst/casual village interaction for them both please!

i think that (imo) (or at least from my personal perspective as a viewer) 

(and as a preface, i don’t mean to compare robert and aaron in a rob vs aaron way - it’s more that robert is a very easy character to use here in order to demonstrate my point in this post about aaron, because they share so much screentime/storylines together)

robert is a character that they enjoy using in a way that a lot of other characters don’t get used or can’t be used quite so freely - they like putting him up against big dogs and making sure he’s got some sort of scheme in motion lmao, just because that’s sort of core to who he is, in a way

he’s probably very fun to write for and/or plot for in that way, because he’s a fucking lunatic and also gets to be kind of quippy and terrible 

(and i will… fucking eat my hat if they haven’t set this graham plot in motion to ensure that both the kings and robert are in kim’s general orbit once she comes back to the show, just bc why wouldn’t they)

so robert usually has some sort of insane scheme happening - or before that, last year, we obviously had him involved with lachlan and rebecca, because of his ties to the whites and who knows maybe he’ll be tied back to lachlan again

but this has just sort of meant that he’s always had a couple of different stories happening at once lmao

it’s a rare day that the show doesn’t have robert doing something, even if he’s not being used very heavily

aaron on the other hand gets thrown into liv-related plots, or dingle plots maybe (but not very often) - stuff that’s really a lot smaller and kind of involves him doing the same thing over and over again lmao. i think he’s going to appear in jacob’s plot again at some point soon (potentially without liv???)? 

but beyond that, he’s really just in the robron stuff

and if the robron stuff happens to be more robert-centric, then i feel like it makes sense that it might feel aaron-lite

plus they just don’t really use him in the same fun ways that they use robert

(and honestly!! not many characters do!! possibly bc it’s just fun to watch robert be terrible lmao, in much the same way it is nicola or charity or cain) 

(again this isn’t supposed to be rob vs aaron bc i love how they use robert on this show lmao)

(but they also should use aaron in fun things too bc we deserve it)

(and i hope the robron/jimmy stuff this week is good bc i miss aaron doing crime things)

so he had a super quiet 2018, relatively speaking - mostly he was just supporting other things that were going on at the time with liv and robert and that’s cool and good and all characters should have a supporting period in soaps etc

but now it’s his time again we’ve done our waiting

and maybe bc he’s largely been very valuable as a presence but in a supporting function, it feels like he’s been a lot more underused than he actually has? just because he hasn’t really had anything that focused on him as a character since early 2018?

but also now the billy thing is happening

and i feel like (and i think maybe ppl might agree) we really haven’t had aaron say enough about his side of the story yet

and that’s fine, because he actually seems at the moment to be trying to act like everything is totally cool (even though he’s concerned about literally leaving the house)

he’s just like lOL robert drop it!! 

bc robert immediately got himself arrested, i guess, so maybe aaron isn’t quite prepared to let robert know exactly what’s going on in his little head, because he’s worried about what robert will do

which is clearly valid

but that doesn’t mean that something somewhere shouldn’t give that ultimately makes aaron have to tell robert (or someone!!!!) (uh preferably robert)

I definitely agree the whole Kie vs her parents arc was very badly handled bc it made her seem more ungrateful than she probably is. I just really couldn't stand her this season, I mean she wasn't my fav character to begin with she definitely already had those moments in S1. I mean she was 80% annoyed with something this season sooo... 💀

I'm kinda surprised that so many ship her with JJ bc I got the impression from her she's rather their friend than be romantically interested in any of them. Like she mostly acts annoyed around JJ, for example in S2ep10 when they both stayed together in the ship container she literally rolled her eyes at him while saying "now it's only us" , so I'm sorry I can't really get on board with this when 85% of their interactions are like this. Or maybe it's just me because I love JJ so much and I think he deserves better idk please don't come for me. 😭 I can totally see her in a relationship outside the friend group plus it's super weird if she would go through every guy in her circle idk. The entire Pope thing was so unnecessary and I still hate her for playing him like that.

Definitely a highlight of this season was JJ stealing a fucking ambulance bc ofc he would. Like he's so loyal to his friends my heart can't handle this 😭❤️ He definitely has Steve Harrington energy another white boy who stole my heart 😂🙃 I wish both would get more development as normal characters and are not treated as punching bags (literally) and comic relief characters.

I can't wait for season 3 and how this entire thing ends (I heard there will be only three seasons so correct me if I'm wrong). How the fuck will they escape from the island and when will the Camerons finally face the consequences for their actions? 🙃��

I get what you mean, I feel like the situation between Kie and her parents was handled poorly on both their parts, but I feel like Kie's faults were a bit (teeny) more excusable as she is a teen who thought her best friends had died and then had her parents tell her she couldn't hang out with her friends anymore. But overall, aside from her situation with her parents, Kie did annoy me in both seasons. I really hope in season three, there is more character development for her because she is a good character and has strong morals, but I just feel like she's a bit lost in herself. Which is a big reason I don't like her and JJ together. I just feel like they both have such strong personalities and they would only draw out the worst in each other. I also picked up on the things you pointed out about Kie acting annoyed with JJ and that's another reason I feel like they wouldn't be a good match romantically - more like a brother/sister kinda match would be better I feel. For next season, I would love for Kie to find another person outside of the main circle as well, I feel like that would not only be good for her character development, but it would be interesting for the plot since she is usually the person who doesn't like new people joining the group. And I know I said this before, but it would be great if she was LGBTQ+ because I feel like the writers could incorporate her past behaviours and such into the internalized anger she felt towards herself for being part of the LGBTQ+ because I feel like that is something many people in the community still battle internally about even if they are accepting and I know that a lot of bi people still deal with those feelings (spoken from experience).

My take on the Pope/Kie thing was that Kie knew she didn't like Pope that way. And even if, for a second, she thought she might like him that way, when he stopped her before they had sex expressing how he didn't want to do it if there was a possibility that it would mess up their friendship - she should have respected that and maybe they could have felt the relationship out a bit more before going all in. Especially because it was Pope's first time. I love Kie, I really do, I know it doesn't seem like it from this post, but I feel like the writers aren't doing her character justice. Just like Greys Anatomy destroyed Izzie's character.

Also, don't worry, I binged the entirety of season 2 in one day. Nonstop. I laid in bed for ~10 hours just watching the show because I worked 8 hours the next day and I knew I was gonna be too tired when I got home to watch it and I needed to finish it for my sanity. When I first started watching, I knew JJ was gonna be someone I fell in love with because he is the type I usually fall for, so I tried really hard to fight against it, but I am a white man's whore so I ended up losing. But Pope is my baby, I want to protect him and just save him from everything so it's not just JJ who I am in love with from the show. IF YOU START WRITING FOR JJ PLEASE SEND ME THE FICS I WOULD LOVE TO SUPPORT YOU! I ALSO HAVE A HARD TIME FINDING FICS BECAUSE THEY NEVER COME ACROSS MY DASH SO!

And JJ def gives off more chaotic Steve vibes. Loyal, a little dumb sometimes, his heart in the right place, crappy parents, etc. It's pretty much a dead match. Even in between last season and this season, JJ had a lot of character development. He seemed more calm this season, he wasn't getting in fights every episodes. But, I agree, both characters def need more character development and to be beat up less.

I haven't heard anything about them being signed on for more seasons yet, so I'm not sure how many seasons there are going to be. But saying as though it's still in the top 10 and lot of people are streaming it, I feel hopeful that Netflix isn't gonna just cancel it like they love to do. I have a feeling that they might sign on for more than three seasons if the actors are willing (hopefully) since it is such a popular show.

I think they will probably pick up next season with a search being conducted, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Pope will figure a way to get them off or lure help to them. Maybe the coast guard will stumble upon them or Pope will do some cool shit to send a distress signal to them. But since this show is really realistic when it comes to the privileges that rich, powerful, white men hold, I have a sneaking suspicion that Rafe and Ward won't face the consequences for their actions, especially not if Rose continues to help them.

But, please, oh please, start writing for JJ and send me your fics, I would love to read them and support you! I started this blog and writing my fics just because I wanted to try my hand at them, but I also didn't want them cluttering up from drive. I just had so many ideas swirling around my head and I needed a place to put them. I have not regretted the decision to start this blog. It's been the best year. I found so many great people who are supportive, I found followers who are supportive and put up with my randomness and my rants about my life and family. If you need any help getting started, never hesitate to reach out. I would be glad to help you even if you just need a hype man.

i hate this “we only start talking an hour before tribal” nonsense that this merge tribe has going on. like pls get your lives together sooner. i don’t even message ppl anymore bc we just do the “yaaa i haven’t heard anything” “me either” back and forth

i feel pretty hopeless in the game i’m ngl, fully think we should just wrap it up now and give zach the win

alyssa is an emotional and illogical player who came into the merge with the goal of miguel and luke being voted out for voting against her premerge. she didn’t think of the long term, only revenge. it’s embarrassing.

i don’t rly have an endgame path. or anything anymore. i miss luke and stephen.

So, yesterday was a bit of blindside for me. Not even really because Luke left, I woke up that morning willing to vote him out myself, but because I was unable to get Karth, Tim, or Alyssa on my side. I don't think any of them are truly "against me" at this point but it's a little worrying that Luke left over Jake, who I still don't really have a strategic relationship with.

Alyssa confronted me last night saying that other people had gone to her and said that I was planning to target her once Jake was gone. This isn't exactly true, but it has enough basis in reality since I have talked in the "4-elements" alliance about how we should target Jake before going after Alyssa. I'm not sure who went to her with this idea, nor do I know if she was even approached with it in the first place. Alyssa has deceived me for 2 votes now. First, she outright lied to me about voting Zach out at F10 (I still don't technically have confirmation of this, but it makes sense that she'd take out Luke/Miguel as soon as possible). More evidence supporting that she lied is that the former Kato2.0 side decided to vote Luke out next, which would be odd if he was the one to flip to their side at the first merge vote.

The second thing she lied about was being on the fence at this last tribal council.  After Luke was gone she told Jess that we "should've known she didn't want Jake out" despite her never saying that to us. It's clear that Alyssa had planned to vote Luke out as soon as she knew this would be a 5-4 vote. But she lied to me about that and wasted my time up until the very last minute.

Basically, what I'm saying is... it's getting exhausting to try and work with her strategically. It's not like Ally/Jess/Karth, who I feel I can talk frankly and honestly with. I want her and Jake gone. Jake hasn't really "wronged" me in anyway, but I can tell him and Alyssa have to at least be a little close so the jury can have both of them. Honestly, I kinda want them both gone more than Zach at this point. I'm doing my best to win this upcoming immunity challenge so people stop going behind my back, but if Zach were to win.. well... I certainly have a few alternatives in mind.

I am feeling a bit stuck in this game. With Zach in the game I feel my game is pretty restricted and I would feel too bad to backstab him. I already felt bad for voting Luke. I just dont know what to do here.

So apparently Zach and Jake are throwing around Stephen's name with my name as an alternative. I'm not surprised at all at this rate. I figured this would happen as soon as I took my strike at both Zach and Jake.

The only possible saving grace from this all is that both Alyssa and Tim let me know about it. This kind of gives me a glimmer of hope that both of them aren't willing to at least vote me out at this stage in the game. If they'd did.. they'll look like idiots because I'm playing such a horrible game. I have yet to make a big move or win an immunity, I don't have any solid alliances aside from "The Last Hope" which honestly just a circumstantial alliance and most likely we die soon. Taking me at this point is ridiculous because I'm literally the perfect person to sit final 3 with right now.

My game plan at least now is.. I want either Zach or Jake to go. If I can work the angle of Jake or Zach trying to get me out as a way to sway people who think I'm their best friend in this game... yeet. If not I am dead and I will write my own eulogy....

If I get voted out because I lost immunity by 1 point.. I WILL FUCKING RIOT.

Ok so sorry for the lack of confessionals going on I have a lot (of good things) happening in my life atm. Anyways, I got sent to the basement which sux and now the vote is super stressful!!! I'm pretty much pulling a lot of strings within the tribe atm and trying to balance it all! I have Zach and Jake in my pocket completely!! Jake and Alyssa are like on my coat tail and Jess/Stephen/and Ally are in their grave ready to be destroyed lmaoo. Fingers crossed I don't go home.

im vulnerable, and it's an hour til tribal. i'm unsure of what's going to happen. here's a quick recap:

A - i go to ally/stephen to encourage reconciling. i think this is genuinely smart as we are all 'big threats' and it's stupid to let middle players slide by while helping pin bigger threats against one another. they basically end up agreeing (more so stephen). B - alyssa and tim come to me (separately) saying that they are throwing my name around, and tim goes even further to say that they want to split between me / jake. this sounds really believable based on track record. C - ally pms me saying that she heard X told Jess who told her that i'm targeting stephen. i say it's true, but under the circumstances that people are saying they are going after me. D - we talk in the "alliance" chat and come to a conclusion that jake should be the vote as he best fits the "middle player" role, thus being dangerous. though i disagree, i'm in no position to bury karthik/tim in a hole. E - with karthik spearheading, i help flip the vote from stephen to jess. this is because jess will weaken that side, and i don't trust her. at all. on top of that, it helps me not worry as much abt alyssa being sketchy & it keeps my promise 2 stephen/ally in the sense of not voting stephen (and i can argue saying that with them lying at merge, i had to be reaaaalllllyyyy cautious). F - i'm unsure about my idol. it could still happen. right now i'm leaning towards playing my idol because i want it GONE. by using this idol, here are the outcomes: F.1 - the vote is 4-4 or even more slanted, and i idol successfully, meaning jess will leave this game. F.2 - i receive 0 votes and completely waste it. this makes me more vulnerable, but also, could help if i utilize it correctly/effectively. F.3 - I receive 3 votes (give or take) and it's ineffective but shows that i can't trust ally/stephen and by attachment, jess (who should be gone). i guess my preferred order would be F1 -> F3 -> F2 just because if i use it, i want it to be as effective as possible since wasting an idol isn't going to help my case at FTC (which is already weak LSDGKDSLGDSH).

my gut is really sick (as always bar f9.. so just f10). i don't THINK i'm getting any votes, but u can never be too sure. to elaborate on the entire point of 'F', i want to go over pros n cons of idolling (and wasting it). PROS: - no more paranoia for me (GOD BLESS) - i'm much more vulnerable, meaning they may not target me (double-sided) - im 100% safe regardless, and in f7. CONS: - im more vulnerable; easier to target. - ppl are shook bc i dont trust them/ didnt tell them - its wasted and doesnt help my FTC case.

and lastly, who has the idols? [based on tribe idols] CONFIRMED: me . (OG Takagi idol) LIKELY: alyssa (the only person who could have two) COULD POSSIBLY HAVE ONE: stephen (someone probs has attila, i think itd be him or alyssa). karthik (basement king, but def not tribal idol probs .) jake (og kato, could have the kato idol). NOT LIKELY: tim (og takagi/nu-kato. both idols were gone, so i doubt it. but, maybe basement??) jess (unless she worked w alissa n found attalia, it's no) DEFINITELY NOT: ally (was on OG Takagi (my idol) and takagi post-swap, so unless swap idol, N/A).

Jess is voted out 5-3. She becomes the fourth member of our jury.
