Something Special
Last mission had been a hard one. Nothing was particularly special about it, just some guy trying to take over the world…again. Clint had already forgotten the name and he didn't really care, all he wanted was to be done with the day. Of course the day seemed to have other plans. Everyone had gathered in the main room of the mansion, relaxing all around each other. It wasn't an awkward silence by any means; it was comfortable. With only the soft scratching of Steve’s pencil while he drew filling the void. The rest of the team was half asleep, still in uniform.
T’challa enters the main room with water and some snacks then disperses them to anyone who wants them before sitting next to Hawkeye. Clint’s heart fluttered a little as he looked over. He had liked the Panther for a while but being that he was a king meanwhile Clint was just some guy he never bothered to say anything. Though it wasn't lost on T’challa how much more time Clint was spending in the lab whenever the Panther was there. Clint however, played it off as wanting to bug Tony and steal the stashes of snacks.
The Panther passes over a water bottle to Clint and he graciously accepts, downing half the bottle as soon as it was in his hands. T’challa takes off his mask then rubs the sleepiness out of his eyes. Clint couldn't help but watch as T’challa also drank a good amount of water. The Panther didn't take his mask off often around the team so Clint took his time noticing how soft and full T’challa’s lips looked or how his eyes glimmered in the setting sunlight. The Panther notices Clint’s staring and he looks back in slight confusion; the Hawk busies himself by inspecting an arrow and adjusting his hood in an attempt to hide the blush creeping onto his face. T’challa continues his look for a moment before coming to a seemingly satisfying conclusion in his mind then too busied himself with his phone.
Clint didn't realize he was falling asleep till his head fell onto T’challa’s shoulder but by then he was too exhausted to move away and Panther didn't seem to mind so he fell asleep right there. If anyone saw T’challa pull Clint a little closer they didn't say anything. Clint also didn't mention that he woke up tucked in his bed with his bow and quiver right by the night stand. He tried not to think about how easy it must've been for T’challa to carry him up here as he walked to the kitchen.
You would think Clint would get used to seeing everyone in domestic regular clothes and for the most part he has but T’challa has to be messing with him at this point. T’challa chose to wear a somewhat tight purple shirt and a pair of black baggy sweatpants. There really was nothing special about the outfit but Clint was captivated. He was so lost staring at the Panther he almost missed Cap making pancakes. Only reason he pulled his eyes away was because he was starving after not taking a snack before passing out.
Clint really tried to keep these thoughts out of his head. He knew Panther only saw him as a friend and nothing more. But it was so hard to do so when T’challa had his big soft hands on Clint’s face, checking for damages after a sparring session. Now Clint wishes he had those hands everywhere on his body. Clint desperately pushes those thoughts away so he doesnt start blushing and melting under T’challa’s gentle and observant gaze.
T’challa knows exactly what he's doing to Clint. He’s known since the near beginning when Clint started to show his interest. Now T’challa is just messing with him but he's also waiting for a good time to actually show his interest in a proper way; he doesn't want any other Avengers present. Despite them all being his friends he wants this to be an intimate moment between him and Clint and not have Tony make comedic quips during the entire thing. Although it is admittedly fun to watch Clint squirm and blush while T’challa waits for the perfect moment.
Eventually T’challa gets his moment. Thor is off in Asgard, Hulk and Wasp are on patrol, Hank is talking with the Fantastic Four and Cap and Iron Man are taking down some rogue Hydra goons. Clint sits in the main room playing some game while T’challa watches as he pretends to read. This is the first time the king has actually felt nervous about this entire thing. He’s certain Clint has more experience than him in the dating field and he wasn't quite sure how to go about this.
T’challa eventually stands up and walks over to Clint, taking the controller out of his hands. Before Clint can protest, T'challa kisses Clint on the lips. Clint freezes for a moment and T’challa worries hes royally fucked up and misread the situation entirely. T’challa begins to pull away but Clint quickly wraps his arms around The Panther and deepens the kiss. T’challa gently pushes his tongue against Clint’s lips and Clint happily obliges and parts his lips enough for T’challa to slip his soft tongue into Clint’s mouth and Clint is thrown into another world of bliss as Panther’s sharp canines scrape his bottom lip. They eventually reluctantly pull apart, the only sound being their soft pants.
“Could you not have waited ‘till I finished my game?” Clint quipped jokingly. T’challa only chuckles in response. They spent the rest of the evening together in the main room, not needing to speak. They both knew something special had formed between them.

M137: Avengers Founding Members
Wasp
- Janet Van Dyne. Has major Avengers: EMH influences, but she’s definitely the leader.
- Scientist and Mutant (Classic growth/Shrink powers) who worked with Hank Pym to develop Van Dyne Pym (VDP) Particles.
- Wields her wrist mounted taser blasters and and the Ant-Man insect control helmet.
- Since my toxic trait is that I’m an EMH Hank Pym enjoyer, she had a good, if a little rocky, relationship with him. At least until he disappeared.
- Personally responsible for the Avengers’ PR, and balancing it with their actual heroism.
Iron Man
- Tony Stark obvi, but...different. You see, he’s based off his Armored Adventures incarnation.
- Yes, he is in fact a teenager here. The OG Howard Stark was his grandfather, while his father is Howard Jr.
- Major conflict stems from the Stark tech sold by his father and Obadiah Stane.
- Not sure about all the relationships, but Rhodey’s maybe a decade older and his bodyguard.
- Pretends to be a robot, I don’t know if it would be funnier if the Avengers did or didn’t know his real identity.
Captain America / Nomad
- Steve Rogers did not meet an icy entombment, but is thought dead all the same.
- In actuality, he found out about Operation Paperclip and went AWOL, with James Howlett and a prison camp escapee named Erik Lehnssher joining him.
- Spend the next few decades traveling the world with the new Howling Commandos, hunting Nazis and generally messing around.
- At present...I’m not exactly sure where he is. He is alive, but even with the Super Soldier Formula he’s feeling his years. He’s not an Avenger.
- But his shield is in good hands at least...
Black Panther
- N’Jadaka / Erik Stevens. Boom. What. Plot twist.
- Was brought back to Wakanda following T’Challa’s disappearance. More than a little resentful of that.
- Not as angry as his MCU incarnation, but still thinks Wakanda should be active on the world stage. Moonlighting as a superhero is a start.
- Pretty canny politician, all things considered.
- Pretty good friends with Jan, but at any point is hair’s breadth from ripping Iron Man’s head off.
Thor
- The big twist about him is that Donald Blake is the dominant personality.
- It’s kinda like SHAZAM. He’s a human (or least he appears to be) who proved worthy of Mjolnir, and can summon its power to become Thor.
- Still has flashes of his life as Thor.
- Redhead, thick and barrel bodied.
Groot From Planet X
- Plot twist twisted tighter. They’re not the same Groot as Guardians of the Galaxy. Is the same Groot that debuted in Tales to Astonish.
- Escapee from Area 51 courtesy of the not-so-jolly-green-giant.
- Trying to bridge the communication gap with the other Avengers. Thor’s the only one who’s made any progress.

I love how EMH just fuels my multi shipping.
Like Thor x Tony? S1EP20/22 those episodes content are perfect
Clintasha? Boom, we get a silhouette kiss.
ClintHulk? Endless banter and the fact that Clint made Hulk laugh so hard he turned into Banner? Mwah
Steve is just shippable with every one because he’s the team dad and always there for everyone, ready fo raise their spirits, let’s be real.
Janet is just up to die for anyone on the team, she will fight tooth and nail for them and is just so nice and funny???
Thor and Jane are actually cute and really sweet
Clint and T’Challa, I never thought I’d ship them, but I really do. They’re snarky little shits even if T’Challa acts more mature.
Hank is a loveable pacifist and such a nerd, but he’s so stubborn. I could put him with anyone but it would be a 100k+ slow burn because the guy can’t admit when he likes someone.
Just Poly Avengers + Jane, Nat, Rhodey and Pepper who are connected but not apart of the main polycule. Write me a million fics pls, especially any with Janet being amazing because she is my wife 😭

EMH really did beautifully capture that thing T’Challa does where it’s like “dude you’re actual royalty and you’ve been working on this team for years, could you literally just once tell someone what you’re doing before we all get confused. Could you please just communicate your plans for once in your life?” and T’Challa will just be like “No ❤️”

Stupid Cupid
There’s a Valentine’s party upstairs, but after today’s battle Tony and Steve want some quiet before mingling with everyone. Tony’s still working on his Valentine’s gift for Steve, and Steve decides to stop pining and give him the flowers he got on their way home. Meanwhile, Clint is making good use of Tony’s Valentine’s gift for him. (Tony has yet to notice the arrow. Don’t ask me how it sticks on his hair. Science. Steve is pointedly ignoring Clint.)
Btw, the person on the other end of the rope is T’Challa. He’s also the reason Clint is wearing pants. Bless him.
My fill for EMH month and my Stony Bingo square “Cupid”! @cap-ironman
This was extremely last minute so I didn’t have time for anything but flat colours 😭

Earth’s Mightiest Retrospective Ep 37: “Infiltration”
Tumblr media
(Directed by Roy Burdine, Written by Christopher Yost, Original Airdate: July 8, 2012)
Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes season two’s first major storyline, the Skrull invasion of Earth, culminates over this episode and next. I’ve appreciated how the show’s gone about building up the storyline by interweaving moments of build-up with Skrull-Cap into other standalone episode plots to get us here. Episodes where it got more focus, like “Who Do you Trust?” and “Prisoner of War”, have been among my favorites this season so far. Payoffs start coming in strong as this episode opens on a Skrull shuttle crashing near Wakanda. SWORD sends Carol to investigate the crash. The newest Avenger’s shocked by what she finds coming out of the ship, the rest of the Avengers. The apparently returned heroes, who I’ll say now are fakes and will refer to as “Skull-vengers” from now on, claim they were all captured immediately after season one’s finale and only recently escaped.
This obviously isn’t meant to fool the audience, given what we’ve been explicitly shown of the Skrulls’ plans. Its purpose in the story comes down to how it shakes Ms. Marvel’s grasp on the situation. Her job means protecting the planet, whether with the Avengers or SWORD. She’s been at her best throughout the season when she’s certain about what needs to be done. Dents in her resolve keeping her from taking her next move makes sense with her recent history with Mar-Vell selling Earth out to the Kree. It makes the desperate situation this turns into one that escalates so quick she doesn’t know where to aim her energy blast. The Skrull-vengers and her approach Wakanda to be met by the true Black Panther, who’s been preparing his country for war since he was informed of the invasion. We see Wakandan foot soldiers and Dora Milaje decked out in power armor standing next to high-power turrets and mechs as T’Challa tells the imposters to turn back or be prepared to fight.
Once the battle starts, Carol’s caught between two sides that may as well both be her allies in her mind. It’s a well-presented action showcase as the rain comes down while they fight, reflective of the turmoil going through Carol’s head. She spends most of the fight on the defensive in order to deescalate the conflict. She’s trying to find some lull in the fight where she can puzzle her way out of where to aim her energy blasts. Complications increase when Hawkeye and Wasp, the only two human Avengers active on the team at this point, show up and take the factions Carol needs to keep track of up to three. She gets a brief look into her worst fears when the Skrull-Thor’s taken out. Since that only confirms the Skrull-vengers as fakes, Carol finally gets to let loose against the imposters. In the aftermath of the battle, Carol, Hawkeye and Wasp realize the fight was as much to distract them as it was to attack Wakanda. They’re left determined to find a way back to New York so they can get ready to stop the real invasion once it begins, though T’Challa elects to stay with his people.
The two people on Earth most paranoid about the presence of the Skrulls, Nick Fury and Tony Stark, reckon with a lot this episode. Tony starts the episode frantically researching a way to detect Skrulls among humanity. JARVIS informs the audience that he hasn’t taken any calls or taken off his armor in weeks. Iron Man’s anxious solitude gets broken by an unexpected guest, Doctor Doom. The despot lets Tony know what he’s managed to discover about the invading forces and surprisingly offers the hero exactly what he’s been looking for, the components needed to perfect a Skrull detector to interface with his armor. Tony arrogantly chides Doom about not being able to figure it out on his own before being called on by Fury with an urgent message about the Skrull infiltrating the Avengers.
Fury and his small band of Secret Warriors spend this episode putting the final pieces in place about what’s going on with the invaders. We see a Pepe Silvia conspiracy board of suspected Skrulls and crossed out non-suspects, including still-image cameos for some of the X-Men. Fury looking over all the information he’s gathered gets him thinking over the actions Captain America’s been taking throughout the season. He notices how quick Cap was to attack Ronan in “Welcome to the Kree Empire” and convincing the Hulk to surrender to the Hulkbusters in “Nightmare in Red.” While those expose Skrull-Cap to him, that revelation dominos into another.
When Tony arrives at Fury’s location to learn about Skrull-Cap, Fury’s frantic over who’s been hiding right under his nose. Mockingbird was supposed to inform him about any suspect actions SHIELD was taking, which should’ve included the Hulk’s imprisonment. Mockingbird reveals herself as Skrull Queen Veranke. She knocks out the other Secret Warriors and reveals something else, the Skrull detector Doom gave Tony was a Trojan Horse to shut down his armor with a virus. The Skrull’s needed to make sure they understood Stark’s tech to take it out before beginning their final assault, probably from the information Skrull-Cap gathered in “Alone Against AIM” though it’s not explicitly stated. With everyone paranoid enough to prepare for the Secret Invasion out of the picture, Veranke calls in their flagship as the episode closes out.
“Infiltration” is a strong arc-episode for EMH. Multiple threads get brought together to setup for the ending of the Skrull storyline, while leaving enough for the next episode to take care of on its own. The battle in Wakanda meets the action quota for the show, while Tony and Fury’s stories delve into the more character-driven side of the invasion. The main critique I have for the episode isn’t one of it as a standalone piece, but as part of EMH’s greater whole. While the twist and turns of who’s a Skrull get to play out for the character, none of them get to have the same effect on the audience. We already know the Avengers in Wakanda aren’t the genuine article, plus Cap and Mockingbird’s true identities have been known for even longer. I’m left to wonder whether the tension could’ve been stronger if “Prisoner of War” was saved as a buffer between this episode and the next, leaving the audience to guess if any or all the Avengers aboard the Skrull-ship are real like Carol does.
Next time, the Skrulls announce themselves to the Earth.

A ~very intellectual~ discourse on Marvel ships ...
I don’t get the arguing that goes on between shippers. I’m exposed to enough hatred just following the news or being a New England Sports fan. I don’t need Stucky ppl bashing Tony. I don’t need Stony fans telling me I’m not a real shipper ‘cause I also think Ironstrange is hot af. If the art is cute or sexy, I’m gonna look at it. If the fic makes a modicum of sense, I’m gonna read it. The fan community is where I go to find love and acceptance and pr0n, not internecine drama.
Like, yeah, my one superhero squick is sleeping with your significantly-younger-sidekick. This makes Starker and Stucky a little difficult for me, Starker because of the MCU and Stucky because of everything-that-isn’t-the-MCU.
And, yeah, Stony was my first Marvel ship, and it will always be my favorite, but I’m married, not buried! And I might be salty at the MCU for dropping the ball on Stony (why even bother making Avengers movies if Steve and Tony aren’t going to be the glue that holds the team together, amirite?), but the movies opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me. I’d never given Ironstrange a second glance till IW, and now I think it’s the greatest consolation ship in the history of consolation ships. Srsly, if you’re avoiding Ironstrange out of some sense of loyalty to Stony, then you’re missing out big time.
And yeah, the movies also took a dump on my Clintasha hopes and dreams. Apparently they thought giving Clint a wife and 2.5 kids was more interesting than addressing his deafness or his canon love life or his protégé or (lol) the Circus of Crime *throws hands up in despair* But, that leaves me free to enjoy every sweet, sweet second Tasha and Bucky spend doing it fighting in the movies.
And no, the movies have never let me down with Thorki. But after Ragnarok I finally get shipping Thor and Hulk (which all the cartoons seem to do, but in a very dumb jock kind of way which never held my attention). Now I have the urge to see Valkyrie dominate Thor and LadyLoki in bed. (And now that I’ve seen Captain Marvel, I’m like “garcon, where’s the Val/Carol that I ordered for dessert?”)
And yeah, I ship Spideypool, but Zendaya is a treasure, and I want her MJ to have everything her perfect heart desires, even if that includes Peter Parker (all the other MJs can take a hike tho).
And yeah, EMH made me low-key ship Clint/T’challa, but then BP was all like “Killmonger! Nakia!” and I was all like "omg mind blown!”
So this kinda devolved into a movieverse rant, but that’s also kinda the crux of the issue for me. I’ve always been open minded about shipping before. Even in my Gundam Wing days I was hustling to find 1x2, 1x5, 5x2, 3x4, 1x3, 1x2x5, 2x4, 13x5, 13x6, 6x9, 6x1, 13x1, 9xR, Rx11, 13x11, 9x11, and, of course, DxR (and if you could follow that hot mess I just typed, then we’re now close personal friends). But it wasn’t until maybe AOU that I experienced seismic, ship-sinking events within any of my many fandoms. It’s only now that I’m seeing ppl get downright mean about who they think Steve should be fucking. It’s only now I’m seeing shady posts about who the real shippers are. It’s only now that I can really appreciate my own versatility and eclectic tastes.
So I see the Tony-bashing (which I find upsetting because I’ve identified strongly with Iron Man since I was in middle school) and the Cap-bashing (which is only acceptable in the context of hilarious ex-boyfriend jokes), and I’m over here like "Why can’t we just get along and bash DC*? Let’s leave the ship-shaming for Jonsa and Jonerys weirdos**. Come on, guys, group hug! REMEMBER GROUP HUG?!?!?!?!”
Remember. Group. Hug.
* Except Wonder Woman, who I totes ship with Carol.
**I am a Jonsa weirdo (who promises not to bash Dany), but that’s a post for another day.

Can you do Tony Stark for the character breakdown?
YES I CAN! THANK YOU! *^* (Seriously, I thought the amount of Marvel-related asks would increase after I started writing for it. Because I have a shit-ton of opinions and headcanons for Marvel xDDD)
How I feel about this character: I LOVE MY TIN-MAN. *-*
All the people I ship romantically with this character: AA!Steve or EMH!Steve or just generally not-MCU!Steve. Loki. Bucky. T’Challa. Peter Quill. Strange. Sam. Thor. But honestly, if you were to put a new shiny ship in front of me involving Tony, I’d give it a try, as long as it’s not a NOTP of mine.
My brOTP for this character: JAMES ‘RHODEY’ RHODES. The number one Tony Stan who will physically fight any Tony Anti. Also; Pepper Potts and Bruce Banner.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I mean. Depending on what side of the fandom you shout it at; Tony Stark is a good character with good character development and growth and the MCU hinges on him. ;D
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish he’d have gotten a new team of Avengers in the two year time gap between CW and IW. I mean. It’s pathetic and ridiculous to imagine Tony, Vision and a still injured Rhodey are... all... there was for the past two years?? In universe wise it makes zero sense. But sure. Marvel had to rush the movie schedule along. They should have taken the time to make another Avengers movie between those two to establish that Earth was still protected by... more than three heroes... like. Seriously. You didn’t even necessarily have to introduce new characters. Make Jane Thor, based on some mumbo-jumbo comic logic that when the Aether was inside her, it left some energy. Put Sharon Carter on that team. Strange could have approached them, knowing Earth needs defending. Hope van Dyne shoulda joined after Scott fucked off with the suit to break his parole. And bahm, you’d have seven Avengers, none of them being new characters, but making it believable in-universe wise. Because lemme tell you, it is not believable that with all the super-powered and special-trained people running around in the MCU that the Avengers remained a three men band for two fucking years. And I WISH we would have gotten that Avengers movie where Tony recruits a new team to fight maybe a mediocre threat of sorts. Just for team-establishment and also female empowerment, seriously stop writing all your females out of the franchise, Marvel, it’s starting to look HIGHLY suspicious.

MOVIE REVIEW: Black Panther
To be honest, when I first heard about the decision to go forward to make a movie about this particular Marvel hero I was a bit concerned; I only became really familiar with the series, thanks in part, to the “Avengers: EMH” cartoon and did a bit of research on it. I was also aware that Wesley Snipes had wanted to do a Black Panther movie but that plan fell through. My worst case scenario: Reginald Hudlin would get the director’s chair. Thankfully, that didn’t happen and instead we got Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Staion and Creed) to helm the project. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Taking place right after the events of Captain America: Civil War, the title character (T’challa, played well by Chadwick Boseman) ascends to the throne of Wakanda after the untimely death of his father, the previous Black Panther. But that also means accepting the responsibilities and expectations of the throne. Sadly this also includes confronting some of the past sins of his family, in particular something involving a new threat, Erik Killmonger (portrayed by Michael B. Jordan). I’m not gonna repeat what others said about Michael’s performance in the movie because a lot of people have said it already and said it better; you can understand just where he’s coming from and although I can’t agree with how he went about his goals, I can agree with his basic aim. And the movie asked the questions about how isolating your country from the rest of the world can hurt you in ways you may not know; what good is it to have so much and not do something to help your fellow man in need? The supporting cast also deliver strong and memorable performances, my favorite being Letitia Wright as Shuri (dear God let her have a good supporting role in Infinity War) And if you want plenty of ass kicking women in your film you got that too
It also helps if many of the action/fight sequences are tight as well and Black Panther does that too, from the jungle ambush to the South Korean chase and the final battle in Wakanda. (The rhinos though, that was weird) This is a must see for any comic book movie fan.
And look, I don’t think I need to say this but STAY AFTER THE CREDITS. (You’d think people would know this by now...)

Earth’s Mightiest Retrospective Ep 40: “Behold… The Vision!”
Tumblr media
(Directed by Roy Burdine, Written by Michael Ryan, Original Airdate: July 29, 2012)
“Behold… The Vision!” is a combination aftermath/setup episode for Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. One main thread concerns the final bits of cleanup the heroes need to go through after the Secret Invasion, restoring Captain America’s original shield and convincing Black Panther to rejoin the team. The other sets up one of the next storylines for the final quarter of the series, introducing the android Vision on missions to gather resources for his master, revealed at the end to be Ultron. Since both these threads involve a lot of moving pieces into place, it feels like there’s a little less to discuss outside of recapping events.
Vision’s Terminator-esque actions this episode all go towards his single-minded goal to gather resources for his master. Not much gets established about possible future characterization for the android except in his power level. It does help to establish him as a threat for the heroes through this episode. The cold open efficiently sets up how his ability to manipulate his own density between the ability to phase through matter and diamond-tough makes him nearly unstoppable during an attack on a Weapon X facility to get adamantium. Vision doesn’t talk much in this episode except to comment on the progress and potential success of his mission repeatedly, only deviating for the sake of coldly threatening the people fighting him. The ultimate reveal at the end that his master is Ultron, had I not already known about that from the comics, could’ve worked a lot better if this episode didn’t use its “Previously on…” segment to remind the audience of the genocidal robot’s existence.
The android’s goal is a simple fetch-quest for three items he needs; adamantium, vibranium and Cap’s shield to have a sample of how they can be mixed together. The latter two items put him on a direct collision course with Cap, Thor, Hawkeye and Black Panther in Wakanda. Steve and Clint are there with the shards of Cap’s original shield, shattered by Loki back in the season one finale, so the scientists of T’Challa’s country can repair it. One thing I didn’t comment on about T’Challa’s look during his last appearance in “Infiltration” was the addition of the cape he occasionally wears in the comics to his outfit. I assumed at the time it was just something done for the sake of appearing more dramatic during that episode’s battle scenes. Now it looks like it may be a more permanent addition to his outfit to go along with the other updated looks the characters have this season.
Before Vision arrives in Wakanda, the four heroes present have some back and forth about whether Black Panther is willing to rejoin the team now that the Skrull threat has passed. He stands by not rejoining because he thinks they fell apart too easily under the paranoia the invasion caused them. Hawkeye calls out how he left right when they got evidence of the alien shapeshifters. While the archer has a point about that, he takes it to an obnoxious point when he challenges T’Challa to fight him at several points in the episode.
All the arguments between characters necessarily fade into the background the moment Vision arrives in a hijacked Quinjet. The android obtained the vehicle earlier in the episode when he got into Avengers Mansion looking for Captain America’s shield, finding only Janet and Jane Foster there. When Vision starts threatening to crush the shrunken Wasp, Jane tells him how the others went to Wakanda with the shield. He uses his phasing to cause part of the mansion, already in disrepair thanks to Skrull-Cap, to collapse on top of them. When Janet and Jane are later recovering from the attack toward the end of the episode, Janet tells her friend that she should reconsider dating a superhero like Thor if attacks like this are going to keep happening, even though she admits Jane’s brave in her own right as a paramedic.
Back in Wakanda, T’Challa immediately figures out what Vision’s after (“If there’s trouble in Wakanda, it’s always about the vibranium.” – T’Challa) The Avengers present in the nation do whatever they can to stop the android from getting his hands on the nation’s resource. It’s mostly ineffective since Vision can phase or densify against whatever they throw at him. The one exception ends up being Black Panther’s vibranium energy daggers, which manage to cut through a bit of the android while they fight in the Wakandan mines. Noticing that leads the Avengers to the solution they need to put a stop to the android’s quest. They lure him in the device putting Cap’s shield back together and Panther pulls the switch, damaging the android so he can’t phase and restoring the shield at the same time. With every Avenger in Wakanda officially back into fighting form and able to damage Vision, he abandons his quest for vibranium and the shield to go back to his master. The biggest victory for the characters from this battle comes down to how it reminds T’Challa how the team is strongest together and he finally agrees to rejoin.
“Behold… The Vision!” ends on the reveal of Ultron as the one commanding Vision, underwhelming as I said before, and ready to use at least the adamantium his creation gathered to build a new body. The episode does a lot to rebuild the bonds between the characters after they were tested to the breaking point during the Secret Invasion storyline. It doesn’t do a lot much that especially stands out with that setup but it’s not a bad episode. It’s an average episode of EMH with some good parts, like Janet and Jane hanging out and the solution to stopping Vision, and some frustrating ones, Clint antagonizing T’Challa gets old fast. It ends up both good and plot necessary enough for the series that I still say you should watch it to get more of these characters on their journeys, especially as we’re getting closer to the end of the show.
Next time, the Avengers are forced to face a great threat without their mighty abilities.
