The Leclerc Family in the Paddock

Leave your honest opinion guys, this is my first imagine ;)

The sun beat down on the paddock as the sound of the engines filled the air. It was race day and the F1 teams had arrived at the circuit nestled in the hills. Among the drivers preparing for the Grand Prix, Charles stood out not only for his racing talent but also for the presence of two special people at his side.

Y/N, Charles's long-time girlfriend, walked hand in hand with him through the paddock. The couple had recently become parents to a beautiful baby girl and today was the first time they had taken her on a race. Wrapped comfortably in a Ferrari red baby blanket (Charles' request), little Emma Jules Leclerc was a little bundle of joy in her parents' arms.

When Charles and Y/N approached the Scuderia Ferrari garage, the media took notice. Microphones and cameras swarmed around them, eager to capture the family moment. Charles, with a huge smile, introduced Emma to the world.

"We're very excited to have Emma here with us today," Charles said, his eyes shining with pride. "It's a special day for our family, and we wanted to share it with everyone who has supported us."

Y/N added, "She's already a little racing fan, just like her dad. Maybe one day, she'll be in the driver's seat too."

The interviewers couldn't help but coo over the adorable family scene. After the initial baby talk, the conversation shifted to the race ahead. Charles Leclerc, focused and determined, was about to embark on a quest for victory.

Fast forward to the end of the Monaco Grand Prix and Charles emerged triumphant. Ferrari flags flew in the air and the team celebrated a well deserved victory. When Charles got out of his car, interviewers were ready to capture his thoughts about the career and the journey he had undertaken.

However, before delving into the race details, the interviewers couldn't resist asking about the significance of having his family present.

"It's an amazing feeling to win with Emma and my future wife, Y/N, here at my home race," Charles said, his eyes reflecting exhaustion and elation. "They are my biggest fans and having them in the paddock today made the victory even sweeter."

''¿Wife to be?'' the interviewers asked in surprise.

''Yes, we're getting married'' Charles said as he looked at you with love in his eyes.

Interviewers couldn't help but marvel at the couple's ability to balance the demands of a high-profile career with the joys of parenthood and, now, marriage.

Y/N, standing next to Charles, shared her perspective. "Charles is not only a phenomenal driver; he is an incredible partner and now a loving father. We are on this journey together, supporting each other every step of the way."

The interviewers, moved by the genuine connection between Charles and Y/N, congratulated them not only on the race victory and the beautiful family they were building, but also on the upcoming wedding.

I had been trying to figure out where some of my issues with Emma's characterization post LM came from you are absolutely right, it definitely feels like CC stopped focusing in Emma's gray morality to focus on Julian's

In theory I think the idea of their arc being Emma starting off the more ruthless and revenge driven character then easing up on that mindset as things unfold with Malcolm (I really like that little moment where she tells Julian about how her conceptions have changed since killing Malcolm didn’t give her closure, but we should have seen more of her introspection on this after it happened before bringing it back up in QoAAD) vs Julian being more of a wolf in sheep’s clothing whose manipulation and ruthlessness becomes more apparent over time, until eventually Emma is willing to do something morally gray (break the parabatai bonds) that in this set of circumstances Julian will not do, is compelling to me but the execution on Emma’s side falls short after LM because there’s not consistent enough exploration of her changing attitudes towards glorified vengeance and violence, more of an occasional check in. Part of this has to do with pacing/structure and although I love TDA and find the ensemble probably the most compelling overall of tsc series it is overstuffed with how many povs their are as much as tlh is. But also Julian clearly took priority to her at some point and his arc is more the focal point of books 2 & 3 despite all the povs, maybe if that was only the case for LoS it could work because then LM is more Emma focused LoS is more Jules focused but even though QoAAD is pretty all over the place Julian’s emotionless + grieving arc feels like it’s at the heart of the book, and I like that arc I mentioned I related to quite a few of the grief manifests as repressed/controlled emotion aspects so subjectively that clicks for me, but it does put Emma in the role of having to be more of a tether morally for most of the book and then there’s not enough of a transition between that and the moment where she goes to break the bonds. So yeah it’s partially cc prioritizing exploration of the male mc’s gray morality as the series goes on and being less interested in the female leads corresponding gray morality (and I know I would be far meaner about this if I didn’t like Julian as much as I clearly do) partly just other pacing and point of view distribution issues towards the back half of TDA that lead to this. Is how I see it. I do also think there’s something to critique about how while I adore blackstairs and enjoy that they flip some gender roles typical of cc’s earlier books couples, if when gender inverting the bad-boy-with-a-heart-of-gold x good-girl-going-bad trope the male version of the good girl with a dark heart thing gets to have a more centralized arc that is allowed to go further gray morality wise than female chars you’ve written in that vein (I would say that both Clary and Lucie count as this, Lucie in particular has a lot of parallels to Jules imo which is fun family tree wise ) and have the more centralized arc whereas while I do think Emma is a much better written character than Jace who she was clearly originally conceived as the female version of, she doesn’t have the centralized status Jace does narratively.

I do think both modern TSC arcs end up prioritizing Jace / Julian over Clary / Emma in terms of who’s character and dynamics the series eventually revolves around most (although again TDA being so ensemble changes this a little). I’m meaner about it with tmi because I don’t like Jace and Clace doesn’t work for me as a ship, and more just passively critical about it with tda because I do love Julian and Blackstairs really works for me as a ship, so I’m definitely a bit of a hypocrite there but I’ll still critique what’s relevant. I think both historical arcs do better with this I’ve spoken before about how Tessa is my Favorite tsc char as well as protag, and I think her arc and narrative is really really good and that she is central, maybe tied with Will towards the end but definitely her narrative isn’t given less importance than the guys and I’ve disagreed with takes on that to the contrary. Cordelia is an interesting case because again, the overstuffed nature of the cast means she often does not feel like the protagonist in her own story and I found that aspect worse in tlh than for Emma in tda. However I actually really don’t agree with takes that Cordelia’s story went badly because she was turned into ‘just a love interest/got lost in her romance plot’ because imo James is way less of a character in his own right than she is even in the last book where he has more agency than he did with the gracelet. Her emotions and struggles drive the plot of their romance much more than his do, and outside of it she does get to be a more proactive character in the Lilith paladin plot, dealing with her familial relationships etc. So while I did often feel like I would rather tlh focus on Cordelia herself more that really had nothing to do with James who I think was just not a priority for cc a lot of the time. Perhaps there is something to the cursed plots Will / James start out with and that device creating a need for cc to lean on the female protagonist’s characterization more (but also I’ve only read TLH once so maybe my opinion would change if I revisited I do want to say I don’t think I am a TLH or TMI expert).

Whats your least favourite ship and why?

man the last thing i wanna do i spread ship hate buuuuut if you insist...... and my answer should be obvious coming from a mkulia shipper.....

i do NOT like juliayne. at all. i can see where people are coming from in S1, but when i watched it the first time that possibility kind of flew over my head. even in rewatching the first season again, i don't see it unless you clean your glasses and squint your eyes. wayne says his team has a bunch of hotties (that can refer to nichelle, julia, and emma iirc), wayne tells julia she's looking 'pretty good today', and he calls her jules. that's all i can think of from the top of my head

i will admit, i've decided to have an open eye and take a glance at the juliayne tag for once and i think wayne's attraction to julia is very cute. i'm not exactly sure if it's plausible, considering the fact that in S2 julia's willingness to cheat in the game and that doesn't ride with wayne at all. however the thought of wayne crushing on literally anyone i like a lot. honestly i think i like any one-sided wayne ship.

big keyword here: one-sided. i cannot understand how in any sense julia would like wayne. she barely knew his name in S1 and addressed him as 'one of the hockey guys', and in S2 she was clearly annoyed and fed up with being partners w/ wayne + did not hesitate to hurt him if it meant winning. and yes, julia did the exact same thing with mk, she didn't hesitate to stab her in the back if it meant getting further but she felt SO guilty. and she didn't even lay a finger on MK, i could only imagine how she would felt if she had to hurt MK in anyway at all.

julia getting all mushy and soft for wayne out of all people is... i can't exactly point out why, but i just cannot take it seriously in any capacity. sure i go "aw, she's falling for a himbo how silly and cute!" but it doesn't feel like i'm looking at julia when i'm looking at juliayne. it just feels like i'm looking at Some Girl crushing on Some Guy. it is a fun dynamic to work with though, but it's a dynamic i don't particularly enjoy. i'm not a fan of evil girl x himbo. i will say, if julia was truly the warrior moon goddess she was in S1, then perhaps i would've liked juliayne just a tiny bit more.

at the end of the day you could shrug and just say that julia has a plain crush on him with no further explanation and that's fine. that's the whole deal with shipping anyways. you can like two characters together just cause and that's fine, but juliayne is personally not for me.

also small note i headcanon julia as lesbian so any julia x guy is a big no-no for me. with juliayne it's a weird relationship since it's the only popular het julia ship and i wanted to bite the bullet + be more open to the idea of it since it was getting to a point where the pairing genuinely made me uncomfy :')
