(Sorry for sending this here but your askbox in boyfridged is not working for me 😓) I read the new issue of the Red Hood Hill mini and I have to say I'm fascinated by the kiss one because its literally so out of nowhere, but mainly because it's such a representation of how writers attempt to shove Jason into this boxes that fit the more classical comicbook antihero (not that i think he even is one) without actually writing him as a distinct character.

In abstract I think the exploration of relationships both with friendships and romances with Jason would be interesting just because he has been so isolated and grew up in circumstances that didn't really allow for more normal socialization? and also because he is genuinely so intense and constantly losing the idgf war that hes bound to be an absolute little weirdo in any dynamic like he has no parameters of what a regular friendship or relationship would be or function like anymore

So its so bizarre to see writers still attempting to play him as a womanizer who just does random hookups without accounting for yknow his actual character

all very true; i've seen a lot of people very firmly reject the idea of him being given a romantic storyline at all, or even being quite hellbent on jason having no friends; and i want to say i do agree he is not well equipped to handle any of these relationships, but this is specifically why exploring them would be so fascinating. as you said, he is so intense in terms of how he seeks any sort of relationship out, but something that is also apparent in-text is that he very fiercely searches for connections with people to whom he can relate (one of the main reasons he looks to donna, who has came back from the dead!) i'm also of a rather unpopular opinion that because of that he would be very prone to entering relationships (both platonic and perhaps under certain circumstances even romantic/sexual in nature) that would be detrimental to him, as despite everything he remains quite naive (and i'm saying this lovingly. this is not an attack, despite the word itself having negative connotations) in his grand ideas about love. and, as you pointed out, he has been so isolated that he doesn't really know what normal socialisation should be like, which on top of his own perhaps at times unpleasant social habits makes him rather vulnerable.

alas. dc would rather make him into a cardboard cutout with competence i have no idea where and how he would gain. i understand some of it is logical in a sense that he had to develop *some* communication skills in order for his plans to work out (which is a very generous claim, given most of them actually fell through--) , but there is a difference between commanding people/investigation versus personal relationships-- and i would be even very much interested to see the hints of his own inability to form the latter affect the former (which we used to get. sparsely.)

Egyptian!Bayonetta is a very loving and kind yandere. She is especially affectionate and adoring compared to the other variants, but has a level of self-control they lack. For the most part.

Overprotective and more obsessive then most variants. Though a softer variant of Bayo, she's arguably one of the most manipulative ones there are. She's a guilt-tripper, using her lack of conviction and timidness to pull on the heartstrings, even shedding a few tears. Worse yet, most of the time she isn't even aware that she's doing this, as it all comes from a place of genuine insecurity.

Absolute spoiler as well. Whatever you want is yours, especially if you butter her up a bit. She's a literal princess, she can get anything and everything you want. That said, though rarely, she'll also remind you of these rewards whenever something should go south. Also uses her privileges as ruler to keep an eye on you.

If you possess the spiritual power needed for it, you might end up being trained in the Dark Arts like your mother, much to her dismay. She begs you not to partake in them, as umbran training is extremely demanding, but just a few promises of taking it carefully and puppydog eyes will change her mind. She will be training alongside you though, and Jeanne will be the one teaching you both (may also be a yandere for you)

Do be warned: any scratch you sustain will be instantly met with extreme amounts of maternal love and attention, a lot of kisses and smothering, and a few pleas for you to no longer aspire to be a witch.

I like to think the Malphas' have an affection to you as well. They'll drop you many shiny things they've found across the desert, ranging from coins to golden towers and more. Also think they'd want you to fly on them.

When Singularity attacks and Jeanne is taken, Bayonetta demands that you stay behind, the first time she's ever directly commanded to do something. It's an action born out of fear and desperation, because god knows what she'd do if you were to die. You could reason with her though, that this interloper is a threat no matter where you are. Reluctantly, she'll agree to take you with her as she adventures to rescue Jeanne.

Lord forbid you're the Arch-Eve/Adam of this world. She'd be hysterical, especially if you were to challenge Singularity head on. She'd absolutely demand, beg you not to do it, at least not alone. Will fight you if she must to ensure you won't be killed.

Bayo is devastated having to kill Jeanne but has some comfort and relief knowing that you're safe. When Brave!Cereza is knocked unconscious and is sucked into the black hole, she gives you one last embrace before chasing after her origin. In this scenario, you'll be left in the care of Brave!Cereza, who'll vow to take care of you to honor her variant (likely becomes a yandere for you too).

If you're the Arch-Eve/Adam, she'd never forgive herself for failing you, letting you get harmed, let alone having to kill you, even if you begged her to. Knowing that your blood is on her hands will drive her insane, and breaks her heart completely. It's only due to Brave!Cereza that she doesn't completely give in to despair at first, but it isn't permanent. Thus, when Cereza is knocked unconscious, she gladly sacrifices herself for her variant.

As she's sucked into the black hole begotten by the powered Spider Demon, her thoughts are with you and Jeanne. She feels no fear, she feels no uncertainty. She's content in her last moments, lips swayed in a saddened but genuine smile. Her eyes look towards the sky one more time as she speaks her final words.

"Jeanne...Y/N... did you see? I won."

It would be hilarious if batsis! Reader managed to flee her dimension but ended up in like, Earth 63 a.k.a DC VS. Vampires universe.

Reader unlocks a metagene or finds an Apokolops Motherbox that let's her warp to other dimensions and she tries to run from the Batfam by 'jumping' and just runs into infinitely worse reincarnations of them

Like just for example uhhhh I know this is a separate character for a moment but have you considered how absolutely unhinged yandere Superman from the Injustice timelines would be. He loses Lois and his unborn child and he's in full "you know what, not only is murder ok, what if I bonded with Brainiac's ship and literally became a brainwashing fucking fascist" mode and he winds up transferring a lot of trauma and misplaced affection and obsession onto you like, and that's on top of the other unhinged shit like killing Shazam who is you know, not that he knew but that's literally a child, he accidentally but still did indeed murder a child, and even after learning the truth he's like eh sacrifices must be made, and like, THE BAD ENDING? He literally figures out how to rob people of free will and JUMPS at the opportunity like, this scene is genuinely horrifying "You make the right choice or I make it for you" like oh my god i would actually kill myself before I let him get his hands on me

Then you have not exactly a universe but more of a timeline but, you want to talk about unhinged alternate versions, we literally have Flashpoint Thomas Wayne. Bruce brutalizes locks up and or frames and even sends away anyone who messes with you. Thomas just outright fucking kills them. Thomas literally has nothing to lose and has no qualms against being an absolute menace. Like god romantic/sexual yandere are always my cookies and cream but like platonic yandere Thomas would either be the most terrifyingly protective person you'd ever met or extremely soft to you and you alone because he's already lost his family, his CHILD, so like, absolutely fuck your chances if you stumble upon him and he forms some kind of bond

Just also imagine just as a general concept like the whole universe travelling thing basically plops you down in the same place just different worlds and how either convenient or terrible that would be. You wind up jumping from the Batcave straight into the Owlcave. You go from the Watchtower to The Crime Syndicate's HQ or some other evil Justice League. But alternatively in more positive twists, from a Joker hideout being kidnapped to like.... the Lego Batman movie where him and Bruce are just chilling on the couch eating popcorn and also I still have to watch that movie I hear it's absolutely adorable 😩❤️ or you go from a Gotham that is just genuinely fucking awful, not even the smallest sparks of joy, crime and lunatics everywhere, full on edgelord comic book world some real The Boys But The Horrible Comic Version shit, and you wind up jumping from that to Brave and the Bold Bruce and get to basically relax and be your inner kid in full on superhero camp wackiness like genuinely BatB is soul healing in it's genuine, idk, wholesomeness like look at these dorks

While on the subject of heroes and such I'm trying to remember how much I actually wound up reading/watching through YouTube videos of the Invincible comic bc I'll be real I'm still down pretty bad for Nolan Grayson 😩 actually him and Superman give me very similar ideas of "oh what if you turned out to be a member of my species and I want to either train you or adopt you or mate you or whatever and I'm occasionally being casually terrifying about it" like idk if I mentioned this before but like, imagine finally learning how to fly and you get found out by Nolan (or Clark) and they literally help fly you all the way back home and like, it genuinely IS to make sure you get home, you just learned to fly and you could very easily get lost, but also like, they're following you home as you demand them not to and you're so inexperienced with any sort of fighting that if you tried to punch whichever one in anger they'd just like catch your fist and be like "oh wow you can hit harder than most your age that's really impressive 😊" but like very, very much still fending you off like you're not that much different than a human to them

I feel like I should often be, how do I put this, I love adhd ranting about shit and explaining things to people so I kinda feel like sometimes I should genuinely just talk about certain things to introduce them to people who have no idea what I'm talking about because like, idk I often talk and refer to things in ways only consumers of that media would understand and I could occasionally like you know link a clip or ramble or something to include other people? For example, this is an example of why I think Nolan is scary but also like in a sexy controlling way 😏 you know, hypothetically. And like he literally tried to teach his son a horrifying tough love "humans don't matter earth doesn't matter only we viltrumites matter fuck earth lets conquer it for our race" lesson by literally holding his son's body up in a subway to be hit by the oncoming train and let his invulnerability literally rip the passengers inside the train apart while his son was SCREAMING IN HORROR BY THE WAY. Could you a concept for Starfire (DC comics)?

I'm sort of pulling her personality from the original Teen Titans cartoon as it's all I could find but I hope it works. That's also the iteration I think of the most when I think of Starfire. Aged up as usual, just in case.

Yandere! Starfire Concept

Pairing: Romantic/Platonic

Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Overprotective behavior, Clingy behavior, Manipulation by accident, Mentioned threat of death, Vague if romantic or platonic

- Starfire is very social yet also naive.

- She cares a lot about friends and wants to be friendly towards everyone she meets.

- She's also very curious and easily distressed when people don't get along.

- Starfire comes off as someone pleasant to be around.

- She would be Obsessive, Caring/Affectionate, Overprotective, Curious, and somewhat Manipulative albeit not really on purpose.

- She just wants to know everything about you and be as close to you as she can.

- Starfire's obsession may not even register as abnormal to her.

- She's naive and a little delusional, she probably thinks what she's doing is endearing to you.

- Starfire is also curious about you during her obsession.

- She asks you a ton of questions to try and understand you and the feelings you make her feel better.

- She feels asking such questions makes you two bond more.

- Starfire doesn't try to be manipulative on purpose, it just kind of happens as she's around you.

- She doesn't really mean to guilt you when you try to do your own thing without her.

- She's just genuinely saddened you don't want to spend every waking moment with her.

- If Starfire could mortally wound another for you is unclear.

- The other Titans would have to try and stop her, even then if a villain nearly killed you, it may be hard to hold her back.

- Starfire cares for you, doesn't matter if it's romantic or platonic.

- She'll dedicate herself to protecting you and Earth just to see you smile.

If anyone wants to use this as inspiration for drawing, a comic, a fic, literally anything, feel free to. Take creative liberty wherever you want, but tag me so I can see it because I'm insane about it :)

It's a platonic madwheeler speedster AU. Set in the DCU.

Lots of madwheeler siblingism, Mike is an idiot and Max is an instigator. They get their powers because Mike is doing something stupid involving electricity and Max is enabling him at the time of the particle accelerator explosion. Because they're at the same place at the same time, they end up being affected in the same way, and therefore both become speedsters.

So here's the general stuff:

Max is Zoomer (kind of a given) (not to be confused with Zoom), her suit is red with green accents, her lightning is white

Mike is Zipper (Zip for short) (credit to @piper-yipee for the name), his suit is blue with yellow accents, his lightning is green (yes this is entirely for byler reasons)

(I know that lightning colors have different causes in DC canon, but for this AU that is not the case, I'm just choosing lighting colors based on what I want. Cope.)

Once they discover they have powers they go a little crazy about it and Mike immediately wants to be a superhero while Max tries to stay levelheaded about it and reason with Mike that he doesn't know the first thing about being a superhero. Mike ultimately concedes that he doesn't know the first thing about being a superhero and he shouldn't just jump into something like that.

Something happens, whether it be an accident or a crime doesn't really matter, but Mike and Max are there when it happens. Even though they decided that neither of them were gonna jump into anything, they can't stand by and let people get hurt when they know they could do something about it. So they save the day.

After that they decide that they wanna use their powers for good but that they need to be smart about it

They decide to tell Dustin about their powers. He's a super smart science guy and he makes suits for them and has the time of his life learning about the speed force

They decide that they are NOT telling Lucas and Will (they're gonna find out eventually though)

Other stuff:

Will, El, and Lucas are also metahumans, but their powers manifest at a later date.

Will: dimensional awareness (like Vibe), erebokinesis (the power to generate or manipulate darkness or shadows), heliokinesis (the power to bend and control sunlight)

El: I don't have a specific preference, but anything similar to her canon powers would be interesting

Lucas: I also don't have a specific preference for him, I just think there's not nearly enough superhero Lucas content and I need more. Maybe vibrokinesis?

Once Will learns about Mike and Max's superhero activities, he insists on helping Dustin design better suits for them, because although they may be functional they could look so much better and Will is an artist so

The superhero squad is called The Party because obviously

That's all I got for now, I think, I'll probably edit this post as I think of more stuff. HOWEVER! I do know how Will learns about his powers and Mike being Zipper. This is heavily based on how Cisco discovers his powers in CWs The Flash.

So, Will ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time while Zip and Zoomer are fighting some villain. Mike isn't fast enough and he isn't able to save him, Will dies. (They're very much in love at this point but neither of them has confessed). Mike obviously loses it. He's holding Will in his arms and the only thing running through his mind is some theory Dustin had about the speed force and time travel. He doesn't even think about it he just starts running. He ends up two days in the past and manages to prevent Will's death. He intends to take this to his grave, no one knows. Not even Max or Dustin. But then Will starts having flashbacks to the timeline where he died. He keeps reliving his death, and every time he sees Zipper, mask off, so really he sees Mike, begging him to just hold on. And maybe even telling Will that he loves him. And Will feels like he's going crazy. One day he can't take it anymore and he tells Mike about it, and Mike ends up coming clean about everything because he's tired of lying to Will. Will doesn't really know how to feel about it, he tells Mike he needs some space to process it. He's not mad at Mike, he's just really confused and overwhelmed and he feels slightly betrayed because Mike kept his whole superhero life from him for as long as he did. Obviously they work things out in the end and Will joins the superhero squad.

Current thoughts: the titans 2018 tv show understandably has to deviate from dc’s messy comic timelines for coherency - and thus the need to rewrite a major part of everybody's origins- but i wanna see what would happen if everything was comic adjacent timeline wise - other then the titan's timeline. I.e. dick and Jason meet far before, Nightwing being far more established when the titans come together again and how this affects the narrative.

Basically established relationship dickjay but they don't really recognize it as anything relationship-wise (platonically or romantically), they just have this notion of “hes mine - im his” so it comes naturally. Their natural functional codependency and how Jason’s death leads to far more drastic reactions. (Because Dick Grayon hallucinated Jason for a while - just to talk to him, keep him sane, just to have his little wing back for a minute. Because Dick Grayson beat the joker to death for uttering Jason's name.)

Unironically this started because pre-crisis red-head Jason is very dear to me and he had to dye his hair to emulate dick, but I also need people to dip into the potential of him having to wear mascara and other makeup to hide other features. Just a scene of Dick watching him in the mornings, red roots and freckled face stumbling about - purely Jason - before he hides himself from the world. Maybe Dick is a bit mournful that he has to go through this length, maybe he's humored at the sight of Jason struggling with mascara so early in the morning, maybe he gets a lick of possessiveness at the fact that nobody will see Jason the way he can. And then it expanded to (everything else). (And maybe after it all he has the fleeting thought of how pretty he is in his mind, and if Jason is strangely flushed under his stare he doesn't comment.)

Oh~ pre-established dickjay with a loosely defined, companionable relationship? Sign me up, this sounds lovely. Especially with this being their starting point! Having zero context to explain their closeness and the intimacy they share, leaving everyone to sum it up to being a 'Robin' thing, lol. This is a really cute and sweet concept, for real.

Sort of related but kind of not, but like - an AU where Dick finds his own replacement (Jason). No animosity, no drama, no angst (in the sense of jealousy or insecurity or inconsideration). Because Dick recognizes that he's outgrowing this mantle and identity he's created; it's something he sits with and stresses over for some time. Resentment growing only because he feels stifled, obligated to care for one city (Gotham), one person (Batman). It makes him feel cagey, clipped. Even still, he's resigned because discipline is in his blood, but duty was beaten into him after a decade long career of vigilantism.

And Dick just sort of spirals, losing sight of what it is Robin means to him - what it should be to this city. How he can change, adapt, grow within a cage.

And it's not that Dick passes the responsibility to Jason so that Dick can get gone - he would recognize that Jason is different. He's like Bruce (with that close relationship to Gotham), only more (because Bruce was hurt by Gotham; Jason was born from it). Jason cares for and understands the city, it's community. He knows how it works in a different way than Bruce. Jason wants and tries to help (via crime to help himself, a growing community of transients, working girls, streetkids, etc). Jason stands up for those in need although he's a runt, less than a hundred pounds soaking wet - a firecracker, steeled and gritty and wonderful.

There's something hopeful about Jason, though Dick doesn't doubt that the kid will get himself killed with how he throws himself into fights he can't win.

Which leads to Robin being a bit of a guardian angel with looking out for him.

And like. Takes of Jason being prickly at that sort of attention is cool and all, but what if he was just a sweetheart lol. Just very !! at Robin coming to defend him because guess what? Robin has been his hero for so long. An inspiration. A hope that people like Jason can be safe and protected and cared for.

Needless to say, Dick comes to love him. Quietly. With so much affection.

Jason is kind and caring and compassionate. He's tough and scrappy and resilient - always standing up after getting knocked down, always trying again and again -

Of course Jason was going to be Dick's legacy.

And uh. Yes. So much digressing here LOL. But basically Dick and Jason having a good relationship before Dick leaves Gotham and even after. Jason is Dick's Robin, after all. So they stay close. And when Dick calls, Jason comes. And it's easy between them; they're fond of each other and happy because at the core of their relationship - they see hope in one another.

Hm. Another digression mid paragraph?? Idk where the thoughts are anymore but hahaha love your idea of pre-established nightwing/robin!!

As for red-head Jason with the makeup - that could be fun! Anything with Dick quietly admiring Jason and contemplating him while also potentially being all possessive over what people do and don't see of Jason I'm all sorts of down for hahaha. Possessive!Dick is top tier.

I feel like a lot of people (I've only talked to like, two people ever so maybe not LOLOL) like red-head Jason, so potentially a hot take, but~ I'm fond of dark haired Jason because like. The comedic potential of someone asking Dick if he's attracted to Jason because Jason looks vaguely similar to him is so fucking funny to me ahahahahaha.

i was tagged by @minnarr to list my 5 favorite fics i've written! it's actually very funny to me, because i saw one of these posts yesterday from a writer i like very much who i've followed for ages, and then i got tagged today, and i realized the connecting thread is literally just one person in between. anyway!

note: in case you haven't looked closely at my ao3 page (or. not closely tbh. to my eternal regret, it's still my top fandom), i used to write hockey rpf. i don't anymore, because i think hockey and especially the nhl is morally bankrupt and actively harmful, and i no longer feel comfortable writing about nhl players or sharing fic about them. this is all to say: 1, i actually don't think i've explicitly said that before and it's important to me, and 2, i will not mention any fics from this fandom.

LUCKILY, i've somehow???? written a lot????? since then????? this continues to baffle me. how did i get here. (🎶letting the days go by🎶) (if you think, gee, did sky have trouble picking 5 fics? it has been fully half an hour and i'm still at 11 fics. the lengths i go to for tumblr posts that don't matter.) (have now picked fics, didn't take much longer bc i decided to try and go for a wide spread of fandoms, and also to pick the ones in that 11-fic list that had the lowest kudos lol)

give thanks to the broken bones. this is a batfam fic in which bruce wayne gets kidnapped as a civilian and dick grayson comes to rescue him. i have some defensive feelings about this and about the way dick and bruce's relationship is written here, but i often feel like i'm not great at writing complicated relationships that aren't just fluffy, and i feel like i nailed it here. also: gen fics.

tired of waiting for tomorrow to come. another batfam fic! this one a character study of sorts about jason todd and also my love letter about bruce springsteen's music. it's one of the most self-indulgent fics i've ever written and i'm really satisfied with it, even tho there are definitely things i wish i'd done differently too. i wrote a dvd commentary companion too so if you want Even More Of My Thoughts about it, they are on ao3 :D

daydreamers please wake up. there are goddamn NINE fics for this fucking fandom and mine is the LONGEST??? this is a fic for another dc comic, Far Sector, written by nk jemisin and drawn by jamal campbell. i loved far sector, i think it's gorgeous and fun and a cool sci fi story with very fun characters, and so when i had a chance to write a fic for it for yuletide, i was DELIGHTED. and then i realized i had to figure out how to write horror for the first time. it was a lot of work and i think it turned out really well.

don't let the stars get you down. this is a fic for the untamed, and it's jiang yanli and jin zixuan. i have now written TWO platonic marriage fics for the untamed, and i'm personally thrilled about this fact. this one is shorter but also, in some ways, more interesting to me. i really love fics that dig into jyl and what she's doing and thinking and i haven't written as many as i'd like, but that is very much what this fic is. also i just have so much love and affection in my heart for the idea of two people being married and having a kid while not being In Love and in fact having sex with and falling in love with other people.

you're a curious one. this is a word of honor fic, and it is, of course, hanwenzhou. so, to be clear, if you count shl/tyk/qy together, it's CLEARLY my second most written fandom. and yet it ended up with only one representative on this list, partially because i have more kudos in this fandom lol. but that said, if i was only gonna pick one, it had to be REALLY on brand, and this fic is PEAK sky is on her bullshit. inspired by a critical role scene with sexy dangerous vampire attacks. the whole fic is building tension that never quite resolves bc building the tension is way more fun to me than writing sex scenes usually. spoiler: everything is actually fine and there's a happy resolution. this concept still lives in my head rent free.

Not sure if this is a controversial take or a crack take, but I want Cass and Kyle teaming up. Like if Cass ever gets her own team like Dick got the Titans, Jason got the outlaws/task force-x (neither I have any desire to read if I’m being honest), Tim got Young Justice, Damian should have gotten the Super Sons but gets a deaged Titans again, I want Kyle Rayner to be there. This came before I knew or saw them do anything in canon and I thought Kyle in the artwork made him around where I thought Cass’s age was. I might have been wholly off, but it’s DC, who cares about that in the first place. But then a song comes on and you imagine him serenading her on the guitar just off key enough to still be endearing but not creepy. Him meeting her at a ballet recital he got tickets to for doing the artwork and him saying how ballet is dumb and she just gives him a death glare and him trying to retrace his steps to say it’s stupid to him but not to her while failing horribly. Then a supervillain attacks and he goes lantern and she goes Orphan and they work decently well together. They chat a bit after the fight and trade information if he’s ever in Gotham or she’s in LA. But she’s a bat, she already knows his milkshake order and going “Green Lantern is a justice league member, he can know my identity” sneaks into his room with food and they just chat. They talk on the phone every now and then, and Kyle starts to fall for her. He hangs with her every chance he gets and when he gets to go to league meetings he seeks her out and everyone can tell he has a crush on her, except her. Despite her body reading skills, she doesn’t get quite why he’s reacting to her like that cause she isn’t leading him on, he must be thinking about something else to make him act like this and she can’t figure out why. Until he finally tells her that he likes her and she just responds with she likes him to but only as a friend. Kyle of course is saddened by this but because of how cocky he is, believes this must mean she is into girls, that’s the only logical explanation. So the next few times they meet up as civilians he brings along a girl and asks Cass what she thinks of them and makes comments as superheroes about other superheroines. Cass explains this to Steph who laughs and tells her what Kyle’s brain is thinking. Next meet up she tells him before he introduces his next target for her potential love life that she is not interested in guys nor girls nor love. She has no romantic or sexual feelings at all. She then goes on to say she doesn’t know if it’s because of her upbringing or if she’s broken fundamentally and Kyle just waves it away. “Nah, you’re fine. Why didn’t you tell me earlier? I wouldn’t have kept making you uncomfortable.” “But I wasn’t, you were there and you’re a good person. You’d never make someone feel bad on purpose.” She offers him a soft smile and puts her hand on his. He still serenades her and most people who see them hanging out just the two of them think they’re an adorable couple when really, they’re just amazing friends who both talk to each other in sweet affections that come from loving the other one, one in a way that he used to want more but has moved, and the other in a way that shows she knows how kind the other is and can trust him. Just them at the park racing through trees, having stupid fast food meet ups, her at his art galleries (people are wondering why Bruce Wayne from Gotham showed up for this no named artist), him sandwiched between Bruce and Alfred at one of her dance recitals, them sitting on public stairs drinking slushies and making fun of the other one for getting a brain freeze. Literally any kind of ship art you can think of, just all done platonically. And this is literally how I started to ship these two by just seeing their designs and going “cute” and hearing a cute couple song after it. This all was within about 20 minutes of finding out Kyle existed btw.

I hate the mcu so much I hate it so fucking much. Why did they remove such an important part of Bruce banners backstory. Why did they take planet hulk, a great comic storyline and turn it into ragnorak. Like that movie was good but why on earth would you take that specific storyline for that movie it doesn't make any fucking sense. Why make peter Parker and remove the things that make him spiderman (Uncle Ben, being poor) and turn him into ironmans Robin. (Actually I know why, cuz of that sony bullshit)

I hate the mcu it's a soulless cash grab and every time it actually has artistic direction the movie gets fucked over by producers and the fact the cgi people aren't union and are overworked and underpaid and I want capitalism to die I want Mickey's head on a fucking pike.

With every book of dune the impact of Lady Jessica fucking off from the bene gesserit to be with Duke leto and giving birth to Paul increases. Like the first book is like: oh well Paul defeated the harkonnens so the whole prophecy thing isn't so bad. And then you get to God emperor and it's like fucking leto had to sacrifice his life for that bullshit and the whole bunch of ghola Duncan's got fucked over and like. Lady jessicas decision changed the fucking course of history forever.

It's just really astounding how good arcane was with demonstrating how the conditions in the undercity affects each of the characters who lived there. Either from viktors lungs being fucked up from the pollution, to vi having so much pressure being put on her to be the leader and then being put in jail unjustly, like so much of the struggles of these characters simply have to do with trying to survive and live in the terrible conditions, to try and have a life. But then we cut to piltover and the only thing concerning the characters we see are their own ambitions, their whole "making piltover the symbol of progress" ignoring the potential of the undercity and looking towards technology as if that is the only thing that can be advanced in society. And of course it is natural for characters to have goals and ambitions of a more personal grandiose nature, but it is striking, piltover residents have the luxury of a future set in front of them, the only risk is what avenue it goes down. For people from the undercity the future isn't promised.

Due to my being aro and [insert neurodivergency here] I can't tell when characters fall in love, nor see their supposed "chemistry". Most of the time this is the case, though sometimes the writing is good enough that I can see the love (romantic, platonic, queer platonic, etc)

These include

Three thousand years of longing (the new movie by george miller). The story was about love and loss and other things and throughout the movie there was various cues in body language and other framing devices that made it easy for me to tell that love was happening.

Ofmd, when its queer it just hits different. It hits harder.

Good omens. It's inexplicable.

The sandman, the romance is past tense but I can perceive it was once there and passionate and now it is cooled and withered.

The exact opposite of all of these are what we do in shadows. I know it's a comedy, I know it's romantic. Logically I know they're all gay for eachother. Logically I know that jokes happen. Nonetheless I am unable to perceive these things happening. Wwdits is in shrimp colors and I am a mere human.

Steve: Oh homie, get some dick. Watched Grease when he was 11 and had a boner he had to hide throughout the whole thing because he was sweating from John Travolta and Olivia Newman.

Eddie: way too gender to not be nonbinary (he/they king) also BISEXUALLL so bisexual like he radiates bisexual slut (affectionate) Maybe pansexual? He also gives pansexual vibes in a total “*shrug* ass is ass, man” kinda way.  Was that one kid who was kissing boys in secret when he was 6 and putting on lipstick before having a crisis at 14 and sadly became a total shithead before going back to being a nerd at 16. Blows men at truck stops without shame.

Billy: Fakes being straight but is the biggest fag in history like stone butch has had affairs with 13 different men. Makes women want to leave their husbands but even more so makes men leave their wives. He does drag and is intense enough that if anyone tries to make fun of them he’ll beat their asses until they’d have to be scraped off the floor with a spatula.

Eleven: Ok so like, really heteromantic but experimental with girls. Asexual but doesn’t really understand her asexuality so developed a pretty shitty mindset of thinking something was wrong with her. Max being educated on this helped her understand herself better probably.

Max: B I S E X U A L all the way omg. Fucking definition of hot bi girl. I’d say also poly?? She’s the girl that Joan Jett is singing about in AC/DC. 

Lucas: Just told people he was a spicy straight after he was caught making out with a guy. Actually bisexual but has a shit ton of internalized biphobia. Which leads to shit getting rocky with max sometimes.

Mike: Oh god he needs to get dicked down even harder than Steve he has so much internalized homophobia. I’m not even going to call him bi he just feels so gay it ain’t even funny.

B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.

A lot of the pairings I’m into happened like this—I was neutral or lukewarm toward them, but then I read a fic, or found a mutual who was really into them, and I became a believer.

Hmm…it’s still not an otp of mine, but I’ll say Royai—Roy/Riza from FMA. I’m barely interested in the military characters on a good day, Riza being the exception because she’s cute and nice and the Elrics like her. I’ll credit @tomochingus and @aeruthien for getting me to appreciate her with Roy (because who am I to deny Riza what she wants?)

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

So many that I can think of! But for this one I’ll go with our genius banshee, Lydia. She begins Teen Wolf as the stereotypical mean girl at school—clearly there’s more going on, but this is all she lets people see. But as the show progresses, she lets more of her true self show. She becomes open about her intelligence, her growing affection for her friends, and her determination to do the right thing with her newfound powers. Even so, she doesn’t lose her hyperfemininity, her snark or any of her personality. She is still the same person as in the beginning, but she’s grown!

I mean, we can blame some of her development on Colton Haynes leaving the show and her losing Jackson earlier than they were planning—but I’m honestly grateful for that. Jackson’s abandoned storyline wasn’t worth all the stupid stuff that would’ve weighed Lydia down for another season or so.

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

This song was next on the playlist I have right now! The Labyrinth Song. Obviously takes inspiration from the myth of Theseus and the minotaur—the lyrics invoke Ariadne a lot, and how the singer has failed her. How he has slain the beast, but it’s implied the beast was actually part of him.

Naturally this train of thought leads me to the Mikaelsons and their complicated relationship with their humanity/monstrosity. Specifically I am thinking of Haylijah and Elijah’s struggle to feel worthy of Hayley’s love. Should he love her? Is he deserving of her? Does the “beast” inside him need to be killed before he can have her? Can that beast be killed? So many questions!

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

Normally headcanons are a slippery realm for me. I am not a fan of popular headcanons being elevated to “fanon” status that people will die on their hills for.

I do however have some small parts of canon that I will die rejecting—does that count? For instance, I posit that Stiles and Lydia were definitely dating before 6a; it just wasn’t shown to us. It doesn’t affect the plot of 6a at all—and it gives me more room for imagination!

Also, speaking of FMA stuff—I firmly reject Brotherhood’s take on post-canon Alphonse. He’s much too square and bulky. No one who spent years being malnourished can bounce back and look like a linebacker in that amount of time. The boy stays slender. He can get taller, sure, but not broader! I’ll die defending that.

Also, I haven’t brought up SPN yet—I must bring on the cringe! I’ll die on the hill of SamJack, that Sam had much more of a relationship with Jack than we saw.

W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.

I hate to say found family, but…found family.

I will emphasize the fandom part of this question—I have no problem with stories where people without roots find home in each other. That’s great! One of my favorite shows, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (rip), has a proper found family narrative that I adore! These characters are literally rejects from other DC shows and they find a place with other time traveling losers. Truly a proper found family.

I can’t stand it though when fandoms co-opt this trope and take it to mean “these people who are maybe(?) friends in canon definitely consider themselves a family unit and this is what the show is about.” (I’m looking at you, spn fandom. And you’re not even honest about what you really like about the show!)

The main reason this annoys me is that fandom “found family” tends to leave out the characters who actually do have the strongest canon bond—the biological siblings! Like, sure, this character makes friends in canon, but can you not see how much they care for the person who has been by their side since they were both little?

It’s oddly specific, I know, and doesn’t happen every single time in fandom—but it’s something I see over and over in my experiences, and it really grinds my gears. I get it if that particular sibling relationship isn’t your favorite or whatever, but would it kill you to acknowledge it? If not, I just won’t enjoy your fics or your fanart or whatever.

Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go!

This is way too tempting, Christina. I want to complain about things! Positivity is not my strong suit, at least not right now.

I just…don’t see why people (fans and creators) can’t just let something die when it’s ready. Why are we getting a prequel to SPN less than two years after the show ended? And honestly, if I had to choose a spinoff for SPN, I would choose…literally anything besides this. There is no substance or importance to the story that they’re telling, not to mention we’ve already seen the most important parts of it in…you know, SPN itself.

Why is there a Teen Wolf movie? The show ended, what, five years ago? It won’t even be a “next generation” story because the first generation cast is still here—well, the ones who can’t get other jobs. Let’s not lie to ourselves, the charisma of Dylan O’Brien is largely what kept Teen Wolf enjoyable for so long. The last season without him was a humorless, miserable slog and I’m sure this movie will be the same.

Just…let the story be. You’re not going to make it any better by messing with it.

I’d complain about Legacies existing and messing up The Originals’ ending, but honestly—I got a suicide pact and my faves dying in each others’ arms. I will take that and fanfic the rest. (Also Legacies was just cancelled, so there’s that.)

I’m sorry for not rambling about something more positive 😔 but this is where I’m at today, apparently!
