(1) jouno thinks it's funny. here you were, clearly confused and trying your best to communicate with him, but apart from sobs and pleadings of 'please let me go', he can hardly make out your other words. it didn't matter, anyway. this was fine too, you just had to calm down before he could set down some ground rules. he also finds it hilarious when he's talking to you in japanese, knowing you don't understand a single thing, threatening to kill you or your loved ones or telling you about how long he's been watching you and you're just staring at him wide-eyed; isn't that expression far too cute for this?

(1) fyodor wishes you didn't cry so much. if he wanted you to cry in the corner, your phone long abandoned after he had only laughed at your pathetic attempts at trying to talk to him, then he could have done a hundred other things apart from bringing you to a nice room and taking care of you. he understands everything you're saying, of course, but still pretends not to, cocking his head to the side when you ask him why he's done this and glaring at you when you ask his name. it was a little amusing to see you second guess your every word and try to recall any words from any language you knew. only after a month of captivity, when you start, on the brink of losing your mind, telling him about your name and likes and dislikes, he smiles at you, and says "i know", clear as day. the shock on your face is his favorite expression yet.

(2) so maybe chuuya overestimated his linguistic abilities. it was fine! he had dictionaries and the internet just for this. he gets by using the resources on hand, and you're surprisingly pretty well receptive to his attempts, and even point out the words you're saying when he doesn't understand you. things were going a lot better than he thought, until one day you ask him if he can please help you escape and that he can come with you so whoever hired him won't hurt him, you promise to help, and he realizes you had no idea just why you were here. he does consider telling you the truth, but it was a lot nicer to have you trust him and stick by him, so ultimately he decides that can wait. for now, he'll go along with your silly idea.

(2) dazai thought he had all the important words covered, but now you're screaming at him so loudly that he can't comprehend a single word coming out of your mouth. he offers you the dictionary and a pencil, clearly telling you to please circle the words you're using but instead, you throw it back at him and scream some more. not knowing what else to do, he starts speaking to you in gibberish. it works, almost, because you go eerily quiet to listen to him before going back to screaming and throwing things at him (because now it sounds like he's mocking you). oh well, time to sign up for those classes!

(3) nikolai didn't think it'd be this hard to get the message across. surely, using his overcoat to transport you here was enough for you to understand that this was a kidnapping? well, he didn't understand what you were saying either, but he was mostly sure that you said the words 'money', 'who' and 'why' at least thrice now. living together when neither of you understood the other couldn't be that bad, right? he uses pictures of an amusement park and a handy app to ask you if you'd like to go out and that he will drag you back screaming if you tried to run, and the horror on your face is all he needs to know you understood him clear as day. see, not that hard!

A/N: Hello! This is my first post on tumblr so I'm just going to put out I'm not so used to the format on tumblr at all, never posted my writing pieces. I also was originally going to include 22! Chuuya but I got lazy. So please enjoy and tell me if you'd like more of my works!

Reader works in the Port Mafia for this headcanon.

15 Chuuya:

I see 15! Chuuya as a serious person who was forced to mature at a young age. So I think he'd be pretty hesitant to flirt with you, because no.1: he has a lot of pride, he's scared of Dazai's teasing, and he's already been betrayed by The Sheep not too long ago, he doesn't want to let his guard down around anyone else.

I'd think he'd see you around the mafia here and there, but he wouldn't think much of it, don't really consider him to be a 'love at first sight' kind of person.

Instead, he'd probably get to know you whether it'll be through a mission or mafia gatherings. Either way he'd catch himself caring and thinking about you more than he should be.

So you two would have to become pretty close friends in order for him to comfortably flirt with you, not saying it won't be awkward though.

I think when he was fifteen he liked the idea of romantic dates such as fancy dinners, but teenagers don't really have the money or motivation to do something as that.

I think his way of flirting is to check up on you a lot, and being a gentleman.

Whenever you guys are out he always opens doors, offers to eat your unfinished food, asks if you're okay, etc.. if you aren't together then he's calling you to see if you've ate and/or you're okay.

You catch him staring all the time. He has that kind of awe and adoration in his eyes whenever he looks at you.

And I'm trying not to go out of character here because Chuuya is known for his brutality, especially when he was fifteen. I think he'd act arrogant and hot-headed at first, like he'd be a dick but then he realises it and becomes a little sweeter, even nicer when you guys are friends.

You are on his mind like 24/7, he will listen to music and be like: "Damn, would they like this? Should I get them an album?"

Also unconsciously follows you around when you're near. Yes, Dazai notices.

Overall, he's not a words kind of guy and would rather show his affection through actions and gestures. I don't think he'd do it on purpose though.

So like, acts of service kind of guy.

"What the hell are you doing out here without an umbrella?"

You turn your head to meet your colleague, Chuuya, who is running up to you with an umbrella in hand, which is usually concealed by the pockets of his leather jacket. It was raining pretty heavily, and you had just finished some business with the mafia; now peacefully walking home in the evening as droplets of rain fell in the tinge of your hair. The cold sensation was quickly covered by his blue umbrella, which, now that you realised it, matched the colour of his eyes. He shot you his juvenile grin, raising an eyebrow at his friend's actions.

"I forgot to bring one."

"Well, you're gonna get sick."

"No shit."

Chuuya scoffs, pulling a snicker from your throat. The comforting yet tension-filled walk pushed an awkward silence between the two of you. "Where do you plan on going?" He asks with curiosity filling his azure eyes. "Groceries. I haven't had any food left for like, 2 days." You chuckle stiffly, but a slight frown appears on Chuuya's face. "You should take more care of yourself." He suggests feigning a sigh, you raise an eyebrow at his advice. "Chill, I'm getting food now." You smile, lightly nudging his shoulder. Chuuya groans at your dismissal half-jokingly, taking a moment to stare at the awakening moon.

"I care about you, ya know? Sucks that you're a suicidal maniac like that bastard." He chuckles, then looks at you with confusion when you don't laugh; instead staring at him with a sweet look of adoration. You don't even have to say anything; you just giggle for him to realise what he's just said.

"Here, I'll go with ya—I could run some errands myself."

"Shut up." He laughs with some conviction, playfully jabbing your arm. Chuuya stares at you in awe under the moonlight, taking in your laughter. He softly smiles to himself, not wanting this moment to end.

I think it would be really cute, but it would need special care. They would be very disorderly at first. Sigma tends to let other's opinions sway his own. What he heard from Fyodor probably freaked him out. Dazai also tends to downplay everything, so Sigma does not have the same opinion after talking to him.

Chuuya first response is no longer violent, but when givens the opportunity to test his strength gets a little too excited. Sigma witnessed this and probably got slightly concerned on the tone shift. Chuuya is also bad at responding to emotions when frustrated. It would startle Sigma to see how Chuuya talks to his ex partner and gets slight whiplash at the dynamic of how Chuuya talks to other people. Although Chuuya has these switches, he was always nice and kind to Sigma. It mildly confuses him, but he tries to be polite back as much as he can.

They have a mutual connection, which is Dazai. They would interact on missions or accidentally in public. Chuuya sees Sigma staring him down, trying to figure him out. Chuuya's pretty smart with his words and tries to break the ice. He asks simple questions, Sigma answering honestly.

It's a very slow burn type of ship. Sigma needs a bit more to himself, and Chuuya would respect that. Dazai would tease the living shit out of them, and it gets worse when he reliezed there was more. That sparks a mutual agreement between Chuuya and Sigma to keep everything from this guy.

Chuuya would introduce Sigma into music. Deep lyrics are what Sigma looks for most. He ends up showing vulnerability to Chuuya in a song about finding where you belong. As a fellow music and lyric lover, Chuuya shows him how personal favorites are. These songs trigger conversations and expose their insecurities to each other. The gate to emotional bonding is opened.

Sigma is honest how he hates how people take advantage of him. Chuuya giving a honest, but vague recap of how he feels about that. They relate to each other on this. Chuuya gets empathically irritated with the conversation. They promised each other to call out when they notice people are picking on them. Also, they promised to try to find a way to weezle out of situations if they are being held hostage / blackmailed.

Chuuya travels a lot. Sigma would wait for him, setting up a personal surprise. Chuuya would see it coming the moment he got back, but seeing Sigma excited, he couldn't help but fall for the surprise.

They would confess while listening to music. Chuuya asked as if it was a "what if" kind of moment. Sigma responded to it with a positive attitude, saying yes and ending it with "but I don't want a what if"

It would be very cute to witness, Chuuya panicks from the sudden realization of how real this gets from time to time and starts floating away. Sigma doesn't know how to respond, and they yell in an admiration and in a flustered panick.

Chuuya would be obsessed with dressing Sigma. Sigma is very ethereal looking, so treating him like a doll is sort of expected. They would have that cute moment where Chuuya is fixing the outfit, and they would be staring eye to eye.

Chuuya would be romantic af, but Sigma doesn't know shit about romance. He tries his best, watching or reading romance to get a vague idea. Chuuya finds it cute he tries so hard. Chuuya lets him take over, but Sigma genuinely does something sweet, and Chuuya grows extremely flustered. They would lose track of the progress of the romance and end up trying to out flirt each other. This becomes its own type of romance between them, giving words of admiration in the mix.

The most obvious change here is that I switched to using thinner lines. There is a gap of about two months between these.

This was when I realised that you could improve art by practicing it (mind-blowing I know), and then started to do just that. Some other notable jumps forward would be when I discovered the airbrush-

Well, discovered a new method of shading with it anyway.

Then after that I had a few pictures that I actually still like, despite them being pretty old at this point, the one below is actually from September of 2022-

I mean, the hands are a bit iffy, but the rest looks alright. This was when I was going through a bit of a melanie martinez phase-

This next one was from January of 2023, I'd only just gotten into bungou stray dogs via some random memes on pinterest about this weird brown haired guy who had lots of bandages and who had this running gag with wanting to die- I actually looked him up at one point, but that didn't really explain much. The main one that I remember was 'life is short, so make it shorter, shorter than chuuya~'

Which at the time was just kind of confusing,

Then I watched the show and it made perfect sense.

I'd discovered ascendance of a bookworm in like, 2021, but I hadn't really been doing fanart of it since I was mainly doing dsmp related stuff and I kind of assumed nobody would know what on earth I was referencing. Turns out tumblr has a lot more bookworm fans than I orignally anticipated. Instagram still has no clue. I think maybe one person out of my followers on instagram knows what I'm on about-

Then we've got these two which I am still proud of btw-

The first one is from a dystopian/time travel fanfic called viridian.

The second one was after I learned about rim lighting. It was inspired by a song actually, 'crash' by noevaii. (and yes I found that song from a sad-ist animatic, it was cool) The character isn't anyone in particular. They're both from February 2023.

Then there's probably my most liked picture on instagram, (not tumblr, since tumblr knows about bsd and bookworm, but y'know. This was even sadder than I originally intended since the last half of my comic strip was finished AFTER everything happened)

Then the final conclusion of my Steve comic strip in May of 2023.

I don't think my art really changed much in between those, but eh.

Then I switched to doing a bunch of ascendance of a bookworm stuff to see what would happen and turns out there are way more fellow fans out there than I anticipated-

Then I guess my next breakthrough in tumblr popularity, (even if it might not have been a breakthrough in art skills necessarily) was when things went DOWN in the bsd fandom with chapter 109 and I did probably one of my most liked tumblr posts I have ever done-

I still think it's hilarious that I put in chuuya having contacts. My reasoning being, they're on a film set,

It was a pretty interesting exercise in shading in monochrome.

Then I started a 30 day art challenge in October that I didn't get past day six of, but it was still pretty fun. This is the best one of those-

After that I spent most of my time studying for the jlpt n5, so I didn't really do that much art related stuff,

This is one of the two non-commission related pictures that I finished over the two months after I kind of gave up on the art challenge. This one's from November,

Then I finally finished an art commission I'd been working on for the three months prior, as well as studying. Here is an example of the type of pictures I was doing for that,

Then I was occupied with christmas and birthday presents for my siblings, both my little sisters are into ascendance of a bookworm- (completely my fault I am proud to say) so I was able to do stuff related to that, here's a couple of snippets, but you guys don't get the colour version hehe

Anyway, it's been quite a progression since I resolved to master digital art in 2021.

I reckon I've come a fair way since then. I mean. My art skills in general are way better than they used to be. The last two or three years have been pretty interesting.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHUUYAAAAAAA

OK SO I HAVE A FIC FOR HIS B-DAY BUT I PROBABLY WONT BE ABLE TO GET IT FINISHED AND POSTED TO AO3 UNTIL LIKE TOMMOROW OR WEDNESDAY SO ILL GIVE EVERYONE A LIL SNIPPET FOR OUR BIRTHDAY BOY

Now, normally, Dazai was never into celebrating. But today, oh today was different. Today, it was Chibi's birthday. Dazai had decided to skip work for the perfect chance at getting under the slugs skin today. He could deal with Kunikidas complaints on missing work pretty much all of last week tomorrow. He went into a brightly colored and well lit shop, and as swiftly as he came in, he was gone with a white plastic bag now in tow. He looked particularly cheery walking on the sidewalk, and he enjoyed his peaceful little stroll all the way to Chuuyas house. The closer he got, the more excited he became. He couldn't wait to see the slugs face when he barged into the orange haired man's apartment, and especially the face said man would make at the wonderful gift he was going to get.

Dazai had gotten to the door and then entered the pin to get in. Silly Chibi, never changing the lock code after all these years. He busted through the door, though he didn't break it this time. He would be a little courteous today, considering the date and all. Though, when Dazai didn't hear an angry slug yelling, or even him running over to the door to see what the noise was, he became a little confused. Was Chuuya really not off today? He thought that Koyou had convinced him to take the day off. Maybe it didn't work? But if that was the case, then why were the extra locks on the door not turned on?

“Chibi~ Where are you~ it's rude to hide from your owner you know!”

…

No reaction? Did something happen? Dazai finally actually stepped into the apartment, and carefully closed the door behind him. Then, cautiously, he looked around the apartment for any signs of the little slug. When he glanced over the couch, he saw Chuuya, but something was off.

Sure, he was in his hilariously adorable pajamas, and even wore the pants Dazai gave to him forever ago as a prank gift. The old joke mug was on the table too, but neither of those were really unusual. After all, Dazai had done this on Chuuyas off days before, and this part was actually relatively normal. He had teased Chuuya a lot about using old gifts from Dazai a lot. Nearly every time he visited, in fact. But no matter what, Chuuya still continued to use them religiously. Even on days Dazai stayed over, he would see Chuuya drinking out of the World's Best Dog mug calmly in the morning, see how he changed into those stupid sheep pants every night. No, what was weird was that Chuuya seemed out of it.

He was staring at an old picture in a worn wooden frame, and it was like Chuuya had lost all awareness of the world around him.

Now, that wouldn't do. How was Dazai supposed to sufficiently annoy the Chibi when he was like this? So he walked up right behind Chuuya, making sure to be silent so Chuuya wouldn't notice him and hide the picture. When he saw it, everything clicked. What did Dazai do in response?

He flung his arms around Chuuya from behind of course!

“Chibiiiiii! You can't neglect your owner like this! What's the point of visiting if my dear little dog won't even pay attention to me?”

Dazai had said it in his most sing-song and pouty voice possible. Chuuya had finally snapped out of it. And swung his head back to look at Dazai.

“huh!? What the hell, Mackerel!? The fuck are you doing at my place!”

“Your hat must have finally eaten your brain if you hadn't realized what day it is! Why wouldn't I visit my dear dog on such a special day~”

“stop calling me your fucking dog! Of course I didn't forget what day it is! I just thought you had the sense to remember that I don't fucking celebrate it. Did the agency finally make you lose all your damn sense?”

“Chibis so mean! I even bothered to get you a present, and you still bully me!”

There, Chuuya had finally put the picture down on the table.

“I swear to fucking God if you got me a replacement for that dumbass slug shirt I'm throwing you out the damn window.”

“Rude! I would never reuse the same joke!”

“Yes the fuck you would!”

“Hmph! Well, either way, I got you something even better!”

okay. OKAY okay. I have so many ideas for this i have decided to narrow it down and do 3. The first one (beast) is just for @osameowdazai and @squidsandthings

ask game~

"Nakahara-san?"

Chuuya scowls. "What?"

Atsushi looks conflicted, nervous. Something like embarrassment crosses over his features, but he doesn't flinch. "Why does Dazai call you baby girl?"

Chuuya freezes. There's a horrifying moment where he tries to think about how Atsushi could have happened upon this knowledge, but then he considers making Atsushi regret it, instead. A sinister smile crawls up his lips. "Well, if you really must know--"

Suffice to say, Atsushi no longer asks Chuuya any questions.

"Dazai-san," Atsushi asks.

Humming, Dazai doesn't look up from his book. They have roughly 67 seconds before Kunikida comes back and starts yelling at them.

"Why does Ranpo-san call you baby girl?"

Dazai blinks, glancing up. Atsushi looks genuinely confused, one eyebrow scrunched, the other raised, looking directly at Dazai with an innocence so deep, Dazai laughs.

"Because he's an idiot."

"Huh?"

"He just wants to rile people up," Dazai winks. "Don't think about it too hard."

"Kunikida-kun~" Dazai's sing-song voice fills the office. Kunikida feels a headache form immediately.

"What, Dazai?"

Sitting on his desk, Dazai leans in close, their eyes are filled with mischief and something Kunikida refuses to name at the office. Dazai do not, however, lower their voice when they ask, "Why do you call Chuuya, the pipsqueak mafioso, babygirl?"

The office goes silent and still. Comically so.

Kunikida glares at Dazai. Heat is crawling up the back of his neck, his collarbones, his cheeks. "You know damn well why I do, sweetcakes."

Dazai looks shocked, lips parting, just for a moment, before they throw their head back and cackle. "Using bedroom names at work? How inappropriate of you, pretty boy."

The office erupts into chaos and Kunikida has never wanted to kill someone so much in all his years.

Later, he makes sure Chuuya helps him get his revenge.

I just finished the Bungo Stray Dogs Beast Manga and holy shit it was so fucking good. (I'm writing this post while it's still fresh in my head LOL)

In the anime = The original universe/world where Dazai leaves the Port Mafia and joins the ADA.

Overall, I have to give the Beast manga a 10/10. I loved reading it so much and it just increased my love for Bungo Stray Dogs 10x more.

The Beast manga really makes you wonder how things could have been so much different. Akutagawa being in the Armed Detective Agency was pretty unexpected for me and Atsushi being in the Port mafia too. I think it only surprised me because I'm so used to their roles being switched because that's how it is in the actual anime.

When I first heard that there's an AU where Dazai is the boss of the Port Mafia, I thought that what would have happened is that Dazai would decide to assasinate Mori and take over and Oda would still be in the Port Mafia so imagine to my surprise when Oda had actually joined the ADA.

When Fukuzawa (Beast Manga) told everyone in the ADA to stop whatever jobs they were taking on and to help Akutagawa, I thought that when Akutagawa had the fight with Atsushi that Yosano would be there to heal the former in case he died or something.

I still have a couple of questions as I'm pretty confused.

Why isn't Kouyou in the Beast manga? We saw that in the anime she cared for Kyouka (I think I don't remember if she did) and how she was basically "helping" (I can't think of another word) Kyouka when she was still in the mafia in the original world. Not to mention, Kouyou is one of the mafia executives. Does she just not exist?

Do the Hunting Dogs exist? We saw that in the anime, Tachihara was secretly the 5th Hunting Dog and how he was sent to infiltrate the mafia. Is he just there as a member without the HD existing or?

What even happened to Chuuya? We just saw him for not even 2 pages and all of a sudden he just dipped.

Since Dazai dies in Beast, does this mean that when he said something along the lines of "If 3 or more people find out about the book" does it still include him? I mean I know that he knows about the book but to the best of my knowledge, he never specified if it included the deceased?

Who is the new boss of the Port Mafia? Since Dazai dies at the end of Beast and it's suddenly revealed how Mori was alive and is the new director of the orphanage, we as the reader are left without the knowledge of who the new boss would be.

What happens to Gin now? Throughout the entire Beast manga, we see how Akutagawa wanted to find his sister (which isn't really true because he's just fueld by revenge) but at the end it's revealed that she "dissapeared". I know this question is probably not going to have an answer but I'm still curious about this myself. At the end of Beast, Akutagawa says that he wants to try to be on the side of good and how he will stop doing evil things (or something like that).

How are all of the events from the anime going to play out in the Beast manga? We saw that Higuchi came to the ADA and informed them of smugglers and stuff just like how it happened in the anime. My only question is what's going to happen next? We saw how in the anime, it's actually a trap and then Atsushi and Akutagawa fight. But we see how in the end Atsushi is in the orphanage with Mori so Atsushi is most likely not going to appear. I really want to know how everything is going to happen but sadly we probably aren't even gonna know.

I really wanted to see what would happen if Asagiri continued the Beast Manga because we would get to see how all the events played out and how the ADA and Akutagawa would deal with Francis/The Guild and Fyodor/The Decay of Angels.

The Beast manga broke my heart though, it was sad to see Atsushi's past.

Ranpo:

They are sooooo cool looking: I mean, Ranpo does look pretty cool. It's a good look for him. :)

Everyone but me is wrong about them/They're deeper than they seem: Ok, so actually this isn't totally true since I know some people here really get him... but I've also seen some weird takes and it's a shame because Ranpo is an excellent character who is a lot more than "really smart" and "likes snacks and praise". In fact, I've been writing a post about how Ranpo has a cohesive and consistent character arc in the story that I think kind of gets overshadowed by the major events of the plot, but it's still there, and Ranpo has done a lot of developing over the course of the series. It's just that not as much obvious attention is drawn to it as, say, sskk. Ranpo isn't the Agency's strongest for nothing. He's more than just a silly little guy.

Not as deep as they seem: ...at the same time, he is absolutely just a silly little guy who really just wants to do silly little guy things like eat candy and tease Poe and solve brutal murders and be praised for it. Ranpo is a complex character with simple needs I think... which might be why he can be a bit difficult to characterize.

I like them enough to project my own issues onto them/I'm mentally ill about them: Untold Origins... okay. So, I don't think I'm like Ranpo necessarily. But god if untold origins didn't hit a certain way. I spent a lot of my childhood being built up as a gifted kid then torn down for not being smart enough, often by the same people within the same day. It was confusing. Am I smart or not? Do you like me, or not? I was also that annoying kid who would correct the teacher's mistakes in class... except I wasn't doing it to be a showoff. It was wrong, and it does no one any good to be taught something wrong when it can be fixed right away, yeah? Well, my teacher didn't like that. Ever been bullied by your teacher as an elementary school kid while having no idea what you did to have someone hate you this way? Not fun. Do not recommend. So Ranpo's story brought a lot of those feelings back. Ha. I also have a lot of thoughts about a kid who grew up in a sheltered environment, suddenly left with the grief from the loss of his parents and no support, lost in a world he does not understand that terrifies him, and the way he is given the means to build a life for himself in spite of it all (even if it is based off a lie). I can't wait to write more about Ranpo. I really do like him a lot and I don't talk about him nearly enough.

I want to carry them in a handbag like a tiny dog: Not in the usual deranged way; I actually think Ranpo might like this tbh. He wouldn't have to walk lol.

Poe:

They are sooooo cool looking: Yeah. I have no idea why he dresses like that, but yeah.

Everyone but me is wrong about them: ...ooookay. So, maybe I'm just not looking in the right area. But, and this might be a bit surprising to hear given that I'm a fan of Chuuya, it's actually Poe's mischaracterization in fics that irritates me the most. He's not soft. He has anxiety. There's a difference (please don't write all socially anxious people as soft little beans, please...). Poe doesn't do things "just because", everything needs to be framed as an intentional challenge. He spent 6 years writing his vengeance. I know we all laugh at the "for some reason I can't say no to Ranpo" bit (who are you fooling man?), but like. He continues to rationalize his affection as traps and challenges. Poe isn't soft. He does still harbour some feelings of jealousy towards Ranpo - it's just that it's vastly outweighed by his (completely oblivious) fondness for him. He brings up how he feels he's "just being used" a few times by several people, but I've rarely seen this talked about. He's an easily startled goof but also more than capable of being very pushy when he thinks it's necessary - think of his placing blank pages in every room to try and get Mushitarou to write lmao. He's a drama queen, only just barely held back from full-blown theatre kid by his crippling anxiety. And he knows full well the value that lies in writing a memory (his softest moment is when he is in his element!). Poe is a complicated character in his own right, and while it is not explored nearly enough in canon - isn't that what fic is supposed to be for? I'd love more fics that explore him, and especially his conflicting feelings towards Ranpo, who he is very attached to and fond of (it's borderline a canon crush to me). He feels envious, but he wants to impress him, but he wants to beat him utterly, but he would do anything for him, he is his perfect partner in (solving) crime, etc., etc. Poe fears disappointing Ranpo and it's for a mess of reasons that are not just all "because he likes him", though that is, undeniably, a big part of it. It's implied he may even fear being replaced or seen as not very important to him, and, as is typical for Poe, he doesn't shy away and retreat - he immediately turns quite internally poisonous towards the "threat". Poe is full of strong, sometimes ugly, conflicting feelings that he rarely actually acts on, and I'd love to see these explored more, both in canon, and in fics. He's a silly guy too, but... you know.

Wasted potential (?): Well, I want to wait a bit before making any judgements here, but if Poe stays a comic relief character who only creates books for Ranpo to use, I'll be a little disappointed. His ability is so powerful. Unbelievably so. It also requires him to write, and with a Book being such a core part of the story, and authors tending to have strong influences on the plot (Odasaku, Natsume, arguably Yokomizo), I think it'd be really weird if Poe went nowhere.

They work better as part of a dynamic: Ranpoe my beloved <3 (I also love his kindness towards Mushitarou :') )

Mushitarou:

They're like a blorbo to me: I mean. You guys saw my deranged rambling about him already. You know I am not normal about him.

I'm mentally ill about them: You KNOW I am NOT NORMAL ABOUT HIM. I've written all my thoughts before. His story will never not make me emotional. I think he's one of the best written characters. I personally place him up there with Kyouka and Akutagawa for quality of writing and overall themes.

Why do they look like that: onceler looking dude...

They've never done anything wrong in their life: Well. He very much has done things wrong. But, much like Ango, circumstance and a lack of foreseeable alternatives pushed them into making a set of horrible choices that they will forever be haunted by. It's why I think they should hang out about it... maybe kiss...
