#I just like Steve who has a hidden talent

idk why this just popped into my head, but thinking about Steve who’s actually insanely smart, he always got straight A’s in school and the whole “dumb jock” was just a stereotype that Steve got stuck under and just never tried to prove wrong. Who cared whether or not he was actually smart? So he just played along. (Besides, it was an in to flirt with the girls; to pretend like he didn’t know what he was doing.) His parents had him tutored since he was old enough to count on his fingers, and sure it was exhausting, but it was something he was good at. Math, reading, science, it all came easy to him. He liked being able to impress the people around him. When he got involved with the upside down, the one thing that didn’t crumble around him was his studies. He was determined to make his parents proud. When it was time to send out all his college applications, his parents hadn’t returned home in months and by the time he heard back from the schools the upside down was worse than it’s ever been and it just wasn’t a concern anymore. So Steve stuffed the enveloped futures away. He had completely forgot about them. Until now.
It’s been a month since Hawkins cracked open. Max and Eddie both have been discharged from the hospital, on strict rehabilitation protocols. Because Wayne still had to work despite the government hush money, Steve decided it was best for Eddie to stay with him. Besides, the house is quiet and lonely, why not put it to good use? Steve had been downstairs frying eggs on a pan when Eddie came bounding around the corner clutching a stack of opened envelopes. He looked confused.
“What’s wrong Eds? What are those?” Steve asked, and when Eddie started rifling through the envelopes Steve caught the slightest sight of his school symbols. His heart dropped. “Eddie it’s not -“
“Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia -“ Eddie starts naming off as he rifles through each envelope.
“Eddie.”
“You got into them all Steve. There’s like 10 different top notch schools here that you got into. Why has no one heard about this? And why are they stuffed in a drawer?”
“Because I’m not going” Steve says simply, like it was the easiest decision to make.
“What? What the fuck do you mean you’re not going?” Eddie asks appalled. And Steve gets why, he does, but he’s also determined to stand his ground.
“Why does it matter? I’m not going” Steve pouts, crossing his arms.
“Stevie. Did your parents pay for you to get in or something? Did they use the Harrington name you hate so much? There’s gotta be a reason you won’t go besides just being a stubborn asshole” and Steve gets why he‘a asking, and he’s never been hurt by it, but part of Steve flinches at the fact that Eddie couldn’t believe that Steve got in on his own account.
“No. It doesn’t matter, can we just drop it?”
“No. No we can’t. Do you know how badly I would KILL to get into any school, let alone an IVY. This is incredible Steve.” Eddie states, padding closer into the kitchen and Steve has to hold back a laugh at his rabbit slippers.
“I can’t go” Steve says quietly, turning away from Eddie and back to the stove where the eggs are starting to burn.
“Why though? Can you tell me that much?” Eddie asks, matching Steve’s soft tone.
“Because I have to be here. I have to be here incase Vecna isn’t really gone. Incase the kids need me. Incase Robin needs me. I can’t just leave…” Steve says, turning back towards Eddie to look at him before turning back towards the burnt eggs.
“Stevie. They’ll be fine. When are you gonna put yourself first sweetheart? I need a valid reason why you’re staying and I’ll drop it, because these aren’t -“
“Because you’re here!” Steve yells, turning back towards Eddie. Steve watches as Eddie’s lips part ever so slightly as his breath hitches before he continues. “When I got accepted into those schools the people who I did that for weren’t here anymore and fucking Henry Creel apparently was more prominent than ever, and the kids needed someone to take a hit and someone to protect them and Robin was here and she was the first person to care about me and what would that say about me if I left? And eventually those stupid schools were the furthest thing from my mind and then I thought about maybe going, maybe getting away from this hell… you came along and I couldn’t. I couldn’t leave you Eddie. With the regards of sounding cheesy, you carved a spot into my heart along side those bat bites and how was I supposed to just let you go after that?” Steve’s out of breath, and tears are starting to gather at his waterline, but he doesn’t care because Eddie is looking at him like he hung the sun and the moon and the stars and he remembers why he stays. And when Eddie’s lips collide with his own, he thinks he found home.
“We’re not done talking about this” Eddie says, and Steve chuckles as Eddie dives back in.

Steve Harrington, Eddie Munson, Robin Buckley and Nancy Wheeler have a well-known channel on YouTube (the name is something horrible and punny that Eddie and Robin made up, way before they blew up - Four Some (just some four guys and gals you perv). They cover pretty much everything - music reviews, various activities like ice skating, pole dancing or sculpting, they do tasting videos, social experiments and much more. Their personalities are so different but somehow that only makes their content more appealing. It doesn't matter if their videos contain Steve and Eddie replicating the famous pottery scene from the Ghost (and Robin's screeches that they ruined a completely fine vase) or Robin testing whether Nancy's vocal range increases proportionately to how many wine glasses she drinks
Gradually they grow their audience and gather a small crew that works with them. Barb Holland does a lot of editing and directing and she is getting recognized for her achievements, just like Gareth Emerson for his work with sound. Everyone in their crew are friends and are supporting each other in growing and promoting their talents.
There is only one person who has always remained a mystery. The person filming them, always hidden behind a camera. Credits always mention Chris C. and the fanbase tries to pry and figure out who they are, they really do, but the group shuts down their attempts almost instantly. "Chris has been instrumental to this channel's success," Eddie says and there is something hard behind his eyes, something that almost never makes it past his laid-back attitude and usual theatrics. "They have decided to stay out of our videos for a reason and we'd like you to respect their decision."
Not everyone drops it, but the four creators assume a united front and eventually, people stop prying. So it comes as a shock when around a year later, a new video drops on the channel. But the face in it is unknown.
"Hi guys," the young woman smiles and she looks so dejected, so scared, but the sound guy Garreth sits next to her and squeezes her hand, grounding her. "I swore I'd never sit in front of a camera again, but...I think it's time. So let me introduce myself. I am Chrissy Cunningham, but you know me as Chris C. And also..." she takes a deep breath, "I am also Chrissy from the Cunningham family channel."
Chrissy goes through it all. She talks about her life with her mother, an obsessive family blogger, who had Chrissy give up all her hobbies, her friends, her privacy from a young age. How her only friend became the school outcast, Eddie, and she had to keep him a secret too - not because she was ashamed, he meant everything to her, but because her mother would steal him too. How she could never have anything of her own, was always on camera, always tested for reactions, always forced to perform and mocked for it at school. How she couldn't handle it anymore and as soon as she was eighteen, she moved in with Eddie and his uncle. How it was only then that she started learning about herself, about who she was and what she wanted to do. "Now that you know who I am, I hope you can look past what I was made to do years ago and see me as...me. Just me."
She and Gareth leave their seats and are replaced with Eddie and Nancy. While Eddie mostly sits quietly, Nancy introduces their newest project that Chrissy suggested - documentaries on dangers of YouTube, TikTok and their insufficient regulations, especially when it comes to family vloggers and loss of privacy. "It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but that is exactly the point", says Nancy and looks directly at the camera. "We're here on camera, showing you parts of our lives that we want to show. But there are many who didn't consent to this, many who are being exploited for views. And on behalf of this chanel, let me address those who think this is okay. We're coming for you."

Steve’s maternal grandfather was a classically trained pianist. He traveled all over the world as a concert pianist before retiring around the time Steve was born. He takes a job as a church pianist and buys Steve a baby grand piano so he can teach his only grandson how to play. Steve learns how to play piano and read music before he learns how to read books.
His grandfather dies when Steve is 9, and his mom gets upset whenever she hears Steve playing, because it reminds her of her dad, who chose the piano over her most of her life. So, Steve stops playing, not wanting to upset his mom. She tried to sell the piano, but no one in Hawkins is interested, so it stays covered with a bedsheet and locked away in the former music room.
Steve picks it up again when his parents start fighting and his mom starts going on business trips with his dad. He finds himself spending long nights at the penchant, fingers dancing across the ivory keys. He’s rusty at first, but playing the piano is a lot like riding a bike — you never really forget.
He keeps his talent a secret, though. Keeps the piano locked away in the old music room when Robin and the Party is over and doesn't let them down that hallway. Likes that he has something for himself, though he does have moments where he wishes he could share his talent with his found family.
Eddie’s the first person he tells.
They’re hanging out together in Steve’s living room. Eddie’s got his acoustic slung across his lap. Fingers moving up and down the frets. His brows are furrowed, and his lip is tugged between his teeth. He’s been stuck on the same melody for days now and Steve offered up his place, hoping a change in scenary would rid him of his music block.
It hasn’t.
“Jesus H. Christ” Eddie swears, gently moving the acoustic to the side. He throws the rest of his body down on the rug.
“You’re being too hard on yourself, Ed’s. It sounds great.”
“You’re just saying that cause it’s not loud and obnoxious.”
“It is different than your usual sound,” Steve hums, gently guiding himself from the couch down to the floor next to Eddie.
“Jeff wrote a love song for this girl he’s seeing. But he's always sucked at the music part, so I said I’d give it a shot.” Eddie says, raising his arms in the air in front of his face. He starts to fiddle with the large skull ring on his finger. “I think the melody would sound better on a piano but none of us can play so, my acoustic will have to do.”
Steve's not sure why he does what he does next. Maybe it's because Eddie is right, and the song would sound better with a piano, or maybe it's because he'd move the moon and starts to make Eddie Munson smile. Whatever the case, Steve stands. Offers Eddie a hand and hoists him with him.
He starts walking down the hallway towards the room no one even knows exists. Eddie hot on his heels.
"Don't tell me you've been hiding a secret sex dungeon," Eddie teases as Steve raises to his tiptoes to grab the key hidden on the top of the door frame.
"If I had a secret sex dungeon, don't you think I'd have shown it to you by now?" Steve asks, hip-checking Eddie out of the way so he can get to the door knob.
"Fair point," Eddie says.
Steve can tell he's about to say something else, when the door clicks open. The baby grand is still covered with a white bedsheet, but it's easy to make it out. Especially for a music expert like Eddie.
"Holy shit," Eddie says, slowly moving closer to the center of the room as if he's going to startle the piano. "Is that what I think it is?"
Steve nods and begins rolling up the bedsheet exposing the beautiful black, shiny baby grand piano. He tosses the sheet aside and takes a seat at the bench. Carefully lifts the keyboard cover and pats the bench next to him. Eddie joins instantly.
"You can play?" Eddie asks as Steve's fingers start moving across the keys. He starts with something simple, the melody to "Twinkle Twinkle," before moving on to one of the formal pieces his granddad taught him. Eddie sits motionless, eyes darting between Steve's profile and his fingers dancing across the keys. When Steve stops, Eddie lets out a gasping breath. Playfully bumps his shoulder with Steve's. "You son of a bitch! You have been holding out on me!"
"Maybe a little," Steve chuckles. "But not about having a sex dungeon."
"You sure about that?" Eddie says, moving in closer. He rests his head on Steve's shoulder and angles his face so his lips are right next to Steve's ear. "I hear sex on a piano is pretty amazing."
Steve blushes, feels the butterflies fluttering in his gut. He laughs, shrugging Eddie off his shoulder. Playful. Bashful. "Come on, we've got a song to write."
Eddie looks at Steve, even more bewildered than before. This time Steve meets his gaze, takes in Eddie's woofish smile that he's trying to hide behind a strand of hair and his blown pupils.
"You really are my wildest dreams come true," Eddie moans, stealing a kiss. It's a quick but passionate. A reminder that they're not done yet. "Alright, let's get this song done so we can really break this piano in after."

This week's writer's spotlight feature is: @pearynice! With twenty-eight Stranger Things works, they've written twenty-seven fics tagged with Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson!
Nominated by @hotluncheddie, they recommend the following works by peachesandpears:
Talk to Me
Personally
Starched Collars
In your eyes
they are so lovely and so talented!! so many short and sweet pieces - that so often seem to touch and soft squishy part hidden away within me, put a little bandaid on it <3 - @hotluncheddie
Below the cut, @pearynice answered some questions about their writing process and some of their recommended work!
Why do you write Steddie?
I’ve always loved the “opposites attract” trope. While Steddie is the first ship I’ve ever seriously written for, in the past this dynamic has always been my go to (ie: destiel lol) but Steddie specifically because I think Stranger Things is a great show with compelling characters, and that Eddie and Steve deserve a happy ending. And for me that happy ending will always have them with each other.
What’s your favorite trope to READ?
I love AUs. Love seeing the little blorbos in as many situations as possible. I love being able to see how writers take what we know about these characters and make it into a whole new story. (But especially a soulmate AU. I loveeee a soulmate AU.)
What’s your favorite trope to WRITE?
I think anyone who follows me can probably guess hurt/ comfort and fluff. I LOVE making these boys suffer and then smooch about it.
What’s your favorite Steddie fic?
AH okay I will scream about this fic until I’m blue in the face (I actually submitted an ask to this blog about it because I think it’s criminally under-viewed!) it’s As the World Falls Down by daeneryske on Ao3. I read this MONTHS ago and I still think about it all the time. It’s long but god I wish it would never end. I want to tattoo it on the inside of my eyelids.
Is there a trope you’re excited to explore in a future work but haven’t yet?
Yes!! I can’t say much because it’s for my Reverse Big Bang but they both contain tropes I’ve never worked with before and I’m so so excited to be writing both of them!!! I’m already having so much fun! And a goal of mine for 2024 is to broaden my writing horizons a little and explore tropes and topics that I haven’t yet, so I don’t really have any specifically in mind but that is my general plan!
What is your writing process like?
Very chaotic. I almost never write an outline. It’s pure vibes baby. And when I DO write an outline I almost never follow it (whoopsie) I feel like as I write the plot comes to me, and outlines tend to pigeon hole me so I can’t get myself out of writing slumps.
Do you have any writing quirks?
Maybe my overuse of italics?  I also don’t really know how to describe it but sometimes when I’m writing heavy action scenes/ emotional scenes I’ll start and stop sentences before they’re complete sentences. Like: “Steve says nothing. Sits down next to his father and looks over his shoulder.” I don’t know if that’s a writing quirk or not lol but that tends to be how I structure my sentences.
Do you prefer posting when you’ve finished writing or on a schedule?
Definitely after I’ve finished. Once I’m on a deadline I psych myself out.
Which fic are you most proud of?
That’s such a hard one, because I think I’m proud of a lot of my fics but for very different reasons. I think if I had to choose, I’d pick Blood of the Covenant. It’s one of my more recent fics, and I had toyed around with a Wayne POV fic for such a long time before writing because I wanted to get it right. It was hard to find his voice but I think in the end I executed it well.
How did you get the idea for Talk to Me?
Well besties I dunno how personal we want to get here, but the inspo for this fic (and tbh a lot of my hurt/ comfort fics) is just based on my own experiences. Growing up my mom did not have the capacity to tend to the thoughts and emotions of her kids, ergo me pushing that shit into a Steddie fic. Obviously what I wrote as Steve’s experience and mine are not directly parallel, but that is how I got the idea.
When writing Starched Collars, what was something you didn’t expect?
That was my first heavy hurt/comfort fic that I wrote, and I remember being really blown away that people could relate so heavily to Steve’s experiences. I remember I had some comments saying that they felt really comforted seeing their own experiences reflected within Steve, and I just never expected my writing to be able provide that for someone.
What inspired Personally?
Well, again, we’re getting a little personal (babum tss)- but how I wrote Steve’s mom reacting to him mentioning the sunglasses is definitely how my own mom tends to react when I express any kind of negative emotion around her. In this case it was a lost parking stub instead of sunglasses.
What was your favorite part to write from Talk to Me?
The COMFORT- that’s always my favorite part. Making it better! (Although it is also a little fun leaving the angsty cliffhanger- but I will ALWAYS make my fics have a happy ending.) But also I’m a little in love with the idea I had that Eddie likes to rub on Steve’s stomach until he falls asleep. I thought that wrapped up the story very nicely.
How do/did you feel writing Personally?
It was honestly very therapeutic. I don’t think I’ve ever word-vomited out a fic more rapidly than I did for that one. I wrote that in my notes app in one afternoon, read through it once or twice, and posted. It was a relief to get all of that out in writing, and then even better to see that other people found comfort in what I had written.
What was the most difficult part of writing Starched Collars?
When I was first drafting the fic I was going to have Starched Collars and In Your Eyes (the kinda sorta sequel) be one in the same. I spent a long time trying to balance the two narratives, before I realized it was just too much to fit into one fic. Having both detracted from the other’s story too much, and eventually I had it just focusing on Steve. I think this was the best move but I spent so long trying to strike that balance before I scrapped it.
Do you have a favorite scene and/or line from any of your fics?
I don’t know if I can name any one scene or line as explicitly my favorite, but the final scene of Because it’s Steve it’s absolutely a favorite. That whole fic is very special to me because it reflects a lot of my own thoughts/feelings/experiences on being demi, and that final scene is just exactly how I experience my demisexuality. (I’m not sure how long this can be, but I’ll insert the passage here):
And they’re still in this disgusting bathroom. There’s still a toilet behind Eddie’s knees, but when Steve’s mouth meets his, it doesn’t matter. Because one of Steve’s arms wraps around his middle, his fingers dip into the spaces between his ribs, their chests touch, and it all feels so good. Because it’s Steve. And it’s still Steve who kisses him, still Steve who licks into his mouth, still Steve who nearly sends them both stumbling into the disgusting toilet. And because it’s Steve it’s so funny that Eddie can’t stop laughing, and there’s a blush high on Steve’s cheeks as he tells Eddie to stop it. But then Steve kisses him again. Asks if he wants to go and find Robin and Nancy. If he wants to dance. With him.
Do you have any upcoming projects or fics you’d like to share/promote?
YES. So Because it’s Steve is now a series: Demi/Virgin!Eddie, with all of Eddie’s firsts with Steve. This is very smutty but it’s also like, the sappiest, most disgustingly fluffy smut I’ve ever written. I would say it’s “schmoopy” but I was outed as an Old Lady on Discord because apparently no one uses that word anymore. ALSO- and maybe this is still too far away BUT I am working on TWO Reverse Big Bang pieces and… you guys… my artists are so talented and kind and their brains are so big and so far I’ve gotten along with each of them so well and I am already so excited to post these and we’ve only just begun. I cannot wait until we can make our visions into an entire fic!
Outside of these questions, Is there anything YOU would like to add?
YES- whoever nominated me for this (I don’t know if that’s something they’ll tell me??) THANK YOU- this is so sweet. I feel so honored that someone thought of me as deserving of this. There are so, so many authors you could've chosen and you chose ME! That’s just- insane. Thank you.  And to anyone who has said they found my hurt/ comfort fics relatable in any way, I rain all of the platonic hugs/ forehead kisses/ handshakes/ high fives/ nods of the head upon you. ❤️✨
Thank you to our author, @pearynice, and our nominator, @hotluncheddie! See more of @pearynice's work featured on our page throughout the day!

If there’s anything I’ve learned about a good portion of the Stranger Things online fandom, is that they’ve projected on to these characters so much that the show in their head is not at all the show that the Duffer brothers are writing. I mostly see this from the POV of a Steve fan and Stancy shipper since season 1, but I like most of the other characters, too, and they get distorted to hell and back by bad takes as well.
A lot of the conversation about Stancy in season 4 has revolved around Steve’s dream and how that relates to Nancy’s scene with Jonathan in season 1 that keeps being brought up again and again and again not because of what she actually says in the scene but in what she represents to viewers when she says it. It really feels like people have projected their own rejection of marriage, kids, etc onto that scene so it’s not really about Nancy the fictional character anymore but something much more personal. Which is the only way I explain people saying they rather stick pokers in their eyes or whatever than see her with a family with Steve. Steve’s dream of summer family adventures appealing to Nancy (which it is if you actually watch that Winnebago scene) is discussed like some existential threat. And with a lot of anger. But that’s just what I’ve observed.
I’ve often seen posts reblogged on my dash or in the Stancy tag saying that scene was Nancy standing against being saddled with a husband and kids in the suburbs and heteronormativity in general. Maybe? But that reading leaves no room for the idea that maybe there are other interpretations of the scene. Literally no room to think that what she’s talking about is being trapped with no career path and with a man she never loved. Or that what Nancy doesn’t want to be saddled with is a life she settled for and a life of complacency.
Nancy doesn’t say she fears marriage or children but complacency, safety, a lack of initiative, lack of self-awareness, being one of the mindless crowd, which in season 1 and beginning of season 2 is what Steve represents, which the show said through Jonathan in seasons 1 and 2 and Murray in season 2.  I’ve seen people say Steve was wrong in telling Nancy his dream because she was in a relationship. So what? Jonathan in season 1 knew Nancy was with Steve and still talked badly about him. He doesn't it again in season 2 when he tells Murray Steve is the one who represents Nancy clinging to safety rather than to love. And he doesn't it again in season 4 when he basically says Steve’s couldn’t lead the Hawkins group. And honestly, I don’t care enough about Jonathan to get mad about it.
If you remember what happened in the show this season, however, you’ll recall Eddie told Steve that Nancy still loves him, and Steve later decides that maybe he can be honest about his feelings, too. It’s also a juxtaposition to Jonathan’s lack of honesty about his own feelings.
But back to what Nancy wants: She wants to be the best at what she does. She wants to lead and to be respected by her peers for her talent and intellect. She wants to investigate the dark corners of the world and wants to find hidden truths. She never says--or hasn’t said yet--that this is only possible if she remains unmarried and without children.
In the past, the only person willing to live this life of discovering and truth with her was Jonathan. Except season 3 showed that might not be the case. That he for his own reasons wasn’t willing to search for the truth if it jeopardized his own security. What season 4 showed was Nancy realizing that she could do this with Steve, who she’d written off as unwilling to take risks. He’s willing to dive head first (literally) into danger, which is the opposite of the Steve she knew before they broke up. He’s been doing that away from Nancy for two seasons now, but this was the first time he’s shown up for Nancy when she needed someone. That’s the story being told.

"Well we don't match today." Joseph smiles as he sees me walk over to the table to get a drink and snack on the mini donuts. "I would lose my mind if we matched today because if you dressed like me..." I start to laugh. "Just keep dressing like you know I would never." He eyes my outfit. "Got it." I nod my head and head over to my seat. "Just gonna keep eating while we start, huh?" I giggle at Maya. "I'm starving so, yes." She says before we all get ready.
Joe was first asked a question followed by Joseph, then me. "Presley, what obstacles does Skylar face this season and was there any difficult scenes for you?" The girl asks me. "This season Skylar has some trauma and relationships problems. I'd say there's two scenes that were difficult for me. Without giving away too much, one there was multiple sets for literally one scene with just me and one other person so it took a long time, and another scene was slightly a physical struggle because of weight." I say making Joseph slightly chuckle behind me because he knew what I was talking about. "You calling me fat?" Joseph asks as we move onto the next person. "I didn't say that. You're putting words into my mouth." I turn around pointing my finger at him.
The guy asks Natalia about being back with the whole pandemic thing. Joe gets asked about Steve and Dustin because fans love them. He explains that yes but Eddie's also there so Steve and Dustin are at ends at time. "Don't forget about me." I put my finger up. "Yeah, Skylar there's too but like with Dustin there's Eddie there for her too." He adds. Maya gets asked about how stranger things changed her life while Joseph gets asked what can fans expect from him. "Presley, seeing from the trailer and what Joe said, What can we expect from Skylar and Eddie? Is there another Billy and Steve situation going on?" He asks me. "Umm... for starters Eddie and Skylar are best friends this season. He's there for her while she goes through things while Steve isn't. So I wouldn't say it's another Billy and Steve situation, but to some people could say that it is though."
The next guy asks what of our characters features do we miss or enjoy playing. Maya talks about how Robin and Steve are very supportive this season. Joe didn't think about his character but Maya's. He then asks if we ever tried learned D&D during the seasons. "It's very complicated. It's seemed really cool to get into, sit you just really have to sit down." Natalia explains. "Yeah, I tried learning to play and it's fun to be apart of but there's just so much. And sometimes the planning and yeah... it's just not for me. Joe, you love D&D right?" I look back at Joseph and he makes a face doing his tongue thing I found adorable. "I can't believe you're owning up to that. I can't believe you." Maya tells him so he explains him playing for the first time.
The four of them get to take a break before we do the theory video but I had to go do my friendship test with Sadie. "Ahhh!" Sadie points at my outfit and I see today I sorta match with her. "Oh my god!" I laugh walking over to her. "We're so gonna pass this test now." She gives me a hug. "I hope we do but then again we're sorta going against Millie and Noah." I shake my head because they were best friends and basically a chaotic brother and sister duo. "We so got this. We're basically sisters." She says before we start.
"I'm Presley." I smile then look at Sadie and she introduces herself. "And we're doing a friendship test." I start. "And Noah and Millie will also be completing a friendship test so we will see who's really best friends." Sadie smiles. "Like you said, we got this." I nudged her with a smile. First we had to mimic a hidden talent. "You have so many though... Oh, she has the ability to pick up languages fast. She also can name what language it is when she hears it." Sadie snaps her fingers at me. "I don't consider that a hidden talent but okay. For you there are so many too. You can sing but that's not a hidden talent because everyone knows that... Ugh." I try to think of one. "Can being an incredible spy player be an answer?" I give her a look. "That's my hidden talent." She agrees. "She always wins it's ridiculous."
"Trust falls? I trust you but can you catch me? I'm bigger than you. Let me take my shoes off." I laugh. "I'll catch you don't worry. I'll go first because I completely trust you. I'd trust you with my life." She gets ready to fall back. "Okay. Whenever you're ready." I let her know ready to catch her. "Told you I trust her." Sadie smiles at the cameras. "So you trust her?" The producer asks me. "Of course I do, but if I go down... I know she's going down too." We laugh. "You ready?" She asks me. "I promise we both won't go down." She makes me lean back and she gets me. "Told you." She hugs my waist as I laugh.
Next we had to compliment each other with emojis. "Okay, there's a smiling face with hearts, the upside down smiley face, purple heart, the shh face, and a fox." Sadie sees what I sent her. "It's because you're such a lovable person, you can be serious and funny when needed, you're someone I trust with secrets, the heart because I love you and you know that's the only color I use, and your foxy." I explain them to her. "Okay, I got music notes, halo smiley face, heart, an alien, and birthday" I smile at mine. "I fall in love with your voice when you sing, you're such a sweet person and anyone can talk to, I love you, you're a bit out there at times when you open up to people, and fun to be around." She smiles so I hug her.
Next was rapid fire questions so stretch my arms making her laugh at me. "What is you friends favorite snack on set?" We're asked. "Oh, the seaweed crackers." I point my finger at her. "I do and you always have a bag of munches near you." We high five each other. "Biggest pet peeve... People eating with their mouths open and loud." I make her nod her head. "I can't choose one because there's so many. People in general." She laughs, "Like walking too slow, attitudes, singing songs when you don't know the lyrics, using words the wrong way." She starts a list. "Yeah, just people." I laugh.
Next was what each other's zodiac sign was, "Oh my god it's either Libra or Scorpio..." Sadie looks at me confused. "Well I at least know you're an Aries. Wow, Sadie.." I cross my arms. "My mind went blank..." She pouts. "Scorpio but I don't feel like one when I read things I go, no no no that's not me." I explain answering her. "She's a morning person." I roll my eyes. "And she's a night person." Sadie laughs. "Our sleepovers are terrible. She crashes about at 11 at night." I look at her. "I don't see how you can stay up till 3am or even longer sometimes." She shakes her head at me.
"I knew we were gonna do well." Sadie hugs me. "I was nervous because it was Noah and Millie but then again we're like sister." I hug her back. "Thank you for testing our friendship glamour. We'll see you next time." We tell the camera before we end it. "What do you have next?" She asks me. "Stranger Things Fan Theories with the Joe's, Natalia, and Maya." I pop my neck. "Remember how you said I'm someone you trust with secrets..." She follows me as we walk off. "Yeah?" I look at her confused. "Why haven't you told me you have a crush on a new cast member?" She gives me a little smile with a wink. "I don't know what you're talking about." I laugh at her. "Come on, Presley... I know that look. Season two with someone that played my brother. Remember I was the only one who knew you two secretly dated while we filmed the whole season..."
"Shut up before someone hears you. We were secret for a reason." I slap her arm. "Even though I know, I still want you to tell me." She grabs onto my arm. "I don't have a crush on Joseph. If that's what you think." I glare at her. "I don't think, I know." She glares back at me. "I gotta go." I leave her. "I know the truth!" She yells as I leave the room going to the other four for the next thing I have to be apart of. "It's nice for you to join us again." Joe smiles as they stand and sit around. "Thank you for letting me come back." I smile at him. "How'd it go?" Joseph asks as I go sit next to him. "I think we did better than Millie and Noah. Sadie got one question wrong in rapid fire. It was about my zodiac sign." I let him know. "You're a Scorpio." He says making me look at him shocked, "I never told you what I was though." I eye him. "But I remember your birthday so I know what your sign is." He makes me smile.
"Excuse me." Joe forces himself to sit between Joseph and I on the couch so I give him a look, "Us men stick together." He makes me laugh as the girls take their set on the other side of me. "We barely fit." Maya says as we try to not squish each other on the couch. As we start we all introduce ourselves. "PaulDePaola theory is; The whole show is just an elaborate D&D game. The kids are actually all grown up and fantasizing about their imagined childhood nightmares. Love this theory." Joe reads it off and we talk about it before Joseph goes next and doesn't know how to pronounce the name making us laugh. "Aydnalgl theory is, Eleven will end up being the villain, whether of her own accord or under the control of the Mind Flayer. I'd say this is the most feasible theory." Joseph tells us. "That could easily happen." I agree.
"Animestrangerthings theory is; I'm probably going to get negative comments, but I'm going to list off facts as to why I think Robin is a Russian spy." Joseph reads another one. "I guess I learn Russian alarmingly quickly. Appear from nowhere... I like the idea." Maya nods her head. "Snoo-22937 theory is, Wow I've been so focused on the chest hair, I never realized that Steve was wearing Eddie's jacket in the sequence. Maybe this could mean Eddie could have sadly died and Steve wears his jacket as a memorial sort of thing, just a theory." Joe reads. "For one it's a vest." I add. "Yes, a very metal Dio vest." Joe agrees. "Yeah, you do have a distracting chest though." Joseph says making me laugh. "Yep, I had to wax it for season whatever." Joe agrees. "Season two because you had to be shirtless in the showers with Billy and Tommy H." I let him know as Natalia takes the theory's now.
"Mas Sonia theory is, If you notice in every season there is a death of a character that starts with the letter B: Benny, Barbara, Bob, Billy. The only character remaining is Becky. Also, we had some scenes with her mom and Kali the girl with the 008 tattoo but the story is not completed I think." She reads as they talk I stretch my arms behind Maya and Joe. I accidentally hits Joseph shoulder making him smile while I apologize. "ShayWolfie; I feel like it's possible that Nancy might die saving Robin's life. They're going to be together and paired up for the entire season. Robin was once Barbs best friend too so I'm sure they're gonna bond over that." Maya reads then explains the book.
"This is from Twitter. Crysteries theory is, Max gets powers and becomes an avatar sort of person for the Mind Flayer. I don't know." I read and give my thoughts. "No one's gotten powers." Maya adds. "RachelLeishman theory is, Alexei is also still alive with Hopper cause Alexei deserved better." Natalia reads and we all agree. "itslunacassidy theory is, so my first theory is I definitely have a feeling a major character (or 2) is going to die this season. My list is Steve, Dustin, Skylar, Nancy or Max." Natalia reads the next one. "I'm order of preference or?" Joseph asks making me glare at him. "Rude." I let him know. "StrangerEmmie theory is, could there be some elements of time travel next season? There was several hints of this last season. Including the obvious Back to the Future reference." Maya reads the next one.
"CookieCutterButter theory is, Skylar and Steve break up because he's still in love with Nancy. Now Skylar will get with Eddie but when she dies, Steve will realize she was the one all along." I read and we all start to laugh. "Man I see some people really want me to die. No but that's a theory alright." I nod my head. "Heather Anton's theory is The Upside Down is just another portal to Middle-Earth. Samwise has gone to return to Frodo, his one true love." Joseph reads. "I'd love that to be true." He adds and Maya was confused so we explain. "Look at this dude theory is Max is being possessed and that Eleven is going to get her powers back. Of course Steve might die only cause he's laying down in the season 4 trailer as if he was dead." Maya reads and we says it's strong.
Once we were done I walk over to Joseph, "When Vol 2 comes out fans will be saying Eddie deserve better." I let him know as we start getting ready to leave. "I don't think so." He says making me look at him. "Are you kidding me? Fans are going to fall in love with Eddie as soon as they see him/you." I place my hand on his shoulder. "You could be right." He thinks about it. "Not could, I will be right." I laugh. "I mean how can they not fall for the Joseph Quinn." I give him a smile.

Beyond the Battle - Chapter 30 - Stranger Things - Steddie
Beyond the Battle: Action & Consequence
Click here for All Posted Chapters
Extra Note: I apologise for the hand-wavy electronics stuff in this chapter. I do actually have a degree in Computer Systems Engineering, but I always sucked at the electronics part and this is based on a show set in the 80s and all the series and movies of that era had hand-wavy science, so I claim asylum 😄. Just run with it, okay 😜.
Summary: Steve hits things with a bat or gets hit depending on who you ask. He definitely does not have anything to do with the psychic stuff. That is El’s domain. However, as Vecna is defeated, the rules change.
Pairing: steddie (Steve Harrington/Eddie Munson)
Other Relationships: Steve & Robin, Steve & Dustin, Eddie & Dustin
Rating: Teen
A/N: Multi-chapter story, updated regularly. Honestly not sure how many chapters it will have yet because it's still a bit hand wavy in the middle, but definitely more than 12. Thank you to my beta for find my mistakes and to all those who read/like/reblog.💖 Follow #st:beyond-the-battle for updates.

Chapter 30.    Defences
It had been nearly an hour and a half since they had last heard from those surrounding the house. Nothing had moved since. Other than making sure Will didn’t do himself an injury, Steve was keeping himself busy keeping an eye on everyone else. They had shifted everyone and everything they might need to the living room and it was tense to say the least.
Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Erica and to Steve’s surprise, Gareth were the only ones really doing anything as they worked on the electronics they had spread out on the dining room table. DnD had had to take a back seat when everyone had moved to the same room.
“Your guys doing okay?” he asked Eddie quietly, walking up beside his boyfriend.
“Well as can be expected,” Eddie replied, glancing over at where Jeff and Frank were sitting. “Gareth seemed to be in his element. Knew he was a bit of an AV nerd, but thought it was mostly to do with music stuff.”
“Hidden talents come in really useful with this crowd,” he replied with a small smile. “Did you know Erica can do complex math in her head?”
“In her head?” Eddie replied. “I knew she was quick with numbers, but that sounds way too advanced for me. Math is probably my least favourite subject next to High School English. If they’d only let us get away with addition and subtraction, maybe a bit of multiplication.”
“Tell me about it,” he agreed, “and I wasn’t even very good at the simple stuff. Still have no idea how I graduated math class.”
“Harrington charm?” Eddie asked with a small grin.
“On this one, I might have to agree with you,” he replied. “How are you doing?”
“Would it be weird to say I feel kind of itchy?” Eddie replied, grin disappearing.
“Itchy how?” Steve asked.
“Like there’s something under my skin,” was the quiet answer. “All I can think is I’m remembering the bats.”
“Yeah, this business has a way of messing with all of us,” Steve agreed. “Robin called it PTSD, which stands for something, but she was rambling when she was telling me, and I didn’t quite get it.”
“Our Robs is a fountain of knowledge, but sometimes it does take her a while to get to the point,” Eddie agreed, the grin coming back for a little bit. “How about you?”
“If I see another candy bar, I might hurl, but other than that, I’m doing fine,” he replied.
“Fine as in really fine, or fine as in how you make your mom nervous?” Eddie checked.
“Really fine,” Steve assured him. “I know the nosebleeds look gruesome, but mine are only little ones and I promise I am not pushing it too hard.”
“Just remember, you aren’t any more disposable than El and Will, okay?” Eddie said, leaning in close for a moment.
“Okay,” he promised.
It was hard to explain how natural what he was doing felt. Throwing things around, going into the Void, that was difficult and not always pleasant, healing wasn’t like that at all for him, even if his nose seemed to be making everyone else think otherwise.
“I think we’ve got it.”
Dustin’s voice dragged his attention away from Eddie.
“You’ve done it?” Hopper asked, walking over to the dining room table.
Steve hurried over so he could take a look at the mess of wires and bits of walkie and phone that were spread around. It was all Greek to him, but it did seem impressive.
“Yes,” Mike said.
“We patched the walkie in to the cellular phone and then used…” Dustin began to say.
“Kid, I already know you lot are geniuses,” Hopper interrupted. “All I need to know is, will it get through the jammer the insane colonel has set up.”
“Yes,” Dustin said.
“Great,” Hopper replied.
“But,” Dustin added.
Steve didn’t like the sound of that.
“But what?” Hopper asked.
“But it’s likely as soon as we put out the call, those outside will know,” Gareth filled in quickly.
“Fu…dammit,” Hopper said, summing up what Steve was thinking too.
“They will attack,” El said without any doubt in her voice whatsoever.
“I know Owens has people on standby,” Hopper revealed, much to Steve’s surprise.
“About damn time,” he heard Lucas mutter.
“But no matter how quickly they get the message, it will take them time to mobilise and get here,” Hopper went on.
“We need to fortify our position and keep everyone safe,” Wayne said in a very matter-of-fact tone.
From the expression on Hopper’s face, Steve was pretty sure the two older men were on the same page.
“How can we fortify a living room?” Jeff asked, clearly incredulous.
“We’re not trying to fight them off,” Nancy spoke up. “We’re just trying to hold out for a little while. El and Will, with Steve’s help, can do a lot, and the rest of us can be ready if they get through.”
“Could we take the fight to them?” Joyce asked.
“They’d pick us off,” Hopper said with a shake of his head. “It’s the armoured car that has me worried, they could drive it right through the front door.”
“Then we take that out as soon as we send the call,” Steve put his own thoughts in. “If we all move upstairs onto the landing, we have line of sight around the whole downstairs. We can find things to throw like with the Mind Flayer.”
“What the hell is a Mind Flayer?”
Apparently, that was the limit for Frank.
“Upside Down monster we fought at Starcourt,” Mike supplied without preamble. “We used fireworks. We don’t have any fireworks.”
“And fireworks would be a really bad idea,” Dustin added as if it was an afterthought.
“Yeah, let’s not burn the house down,” Robin commented.
“I was more thinking of the nail gun in the garage, the weights I have out there too and things like that,” Steve pointed out, trying not to roll his eyes.
Sometimes even geniuses could miss the point it seemed.
“They’ll likely use gas grenades,” Wayne said in a way that made Steve wonder what military experience the man had again.
“We can deal with those,” El said simply.
“It’s their guns I’m more worried about,” Joyce said.
“We can deal with those too,” Will replied. “They won’t be expecting me at all, and they’ll expect El to be cautious because of what happened to her at Starcourt and against Vecna, but she won’t have to be thanks to Steve.”
“Sorry I can’t, well y’know, help with the defence,” Steve said as a feeling of inadequacy bloomed in his chest.
“Steve,” Joyce said, looking him square in the eye, “you keep El and Will from hurting themselves when the shit hits the fan, and you are helping more than I could ever ask.”
He wasn’t sure how to respond to that.
“Right,” Hopper said, dragging everyone’s attention back to him. “Everyone upstairs onto the landing. Find something solid to block the bars and hide behind. Is there any way out from up there?”
“We can get onto the roof from my bedroom window if we have to,” Steve replied.
“Once we’ve fortified, we grab anything that might make a weapon,” Hopper went on. “But I want to make this clear, we are holding out, not going on the offensive. Everyone’s main job will be to stay down. Clear?”
Everyone nodded as Hopper met every single pair of eyes in the room.
“Okay, go,” Hopper said, and they all went into action.
Steve ended up on the balcony to the side of the main stairs, with El and Will, and an old metal table between them and the wooden railing. He had one of the baseball bats, just in case, but he doubted he was going to be in a fit state to use it given his main task. Everyone else had their own positions and piles of things to use as projectiles. Eddie had placed himself a little further along the landing from Steve. Eddie had a pile of rocks from the ornamental plant in the hallway, and one of two slingshots Steve had completely forgotten he owned.
He vaguely remembered being obsessed with the things once many years ago, and he had had two because Tommy’s mom wouldn’t buy him one of his own. He was pretty sure his dad had confiscated them after an incident with a ball bearing and a car window. That they had been left lying around in a box in one of the garages was news to Steve.
Lucas had the other one since Lucas was a dab hand with the weapon.
Robin was with Nancy, who had been allocated the rifle and the small amount of ammunition to go with it. Robin had one of the other bats and had used the nail gun to augment it. She also had various tins from the kitchen cupboards.
Joyce had the actual nail gun as a weapon. The kids had various projectiles. Hopper had his gun. The Corroded Coffin guys had an assortment of things to throw and had divided themselves among the younger kids in a way that made Steve warm to them even more. Wayne was staying close to Eddie and had the third bat, as well as a host of heavy things to drop on people if necessary. Which just left Steve’s mom, who had taken up a position on the balcony over the dining table with what looked like several of the good, heavy base pans from the kitchen and a few other less deadly items.
They were about as ready as they ever would be.
“Everyone know what to do?” Hopper asked.
“Stay out of sight, throw things if necessary,” Erica spoke up for everyone.
“No heroics,” Hopper said, meeting everyone’s eyes again.
He clearly knew them all well.
“Good. El, get ready to take out the armoured car,” Hopper said, “and Will, we’ll need a scan.”
Will nodded, heading into the nearest room with a view over the drive, sitting on the carpet and closing his eyes. El took up a position at the side of the window, out of sight of those outside. Steve stood behind them, a hand in each of theirs.
“Make the call,” he heard Hopper say from the landing.
He was too focused on Will to take much else in once Will began to use his power in earnest, so he had to trust everyone else to keep things going. Time was very amorphous when he was healing, it was more about what he was doing than any standard measurement, so he had no idea how long it was before Will spoke.
“They know. El, now,” Will said, voice reverberating through the connection Steve had with him, and El’s power spiked down his spine, joining Will’s.
His own answered it. He had no idea what El had chosen to do, but, even in his completely focussed state, but he still heard the resulting explosion.
“They’re coming,” Will said, only moments later.

Demise (WIP)
I have this thing where I love mixing hyper fixations and inserting myself in media so somehow listening to running up that hill made me randomly think “hey what if Vecna was put into dbd and fucked everything up. And angst angst with the legion and other killers ”
I have the ending in mind which is just..angst. But as I wrote , I realized I was getting distracted so maybe I will continue and fulfill the image I had idk idk ! I always have weird ideas bare with me
The Entity never made mistakes.
Everything she accomplished in building this sinister realm, taking many souls and trapping them in an endless horrifying game, was done with sheer purpose. From taking well known serial killers that she knew wouldn’t hesitate to act on the blood lust that she presented to them like a drug, to taking survivors that held hidden talents in themselves that would make the cycle of trials more interesting for her to watch over.
She even managed to trick Adiris, a high priestess , into believing she was serving a God. Technically, she was. No one can deny the power the Entity held over the realm. Black claws ready to strike at any movement that she deemed against her.
This power. This certainty was the source of what would be her first and last mistake.
Vecna was powerful. It was known the moment she set eyes on Hawkins and searched for a new victim. A new chess piece to her game. And that’s when she saw the events that transpired.
The sight of the mangled bodies of the victims that fell beneath his hand was a blessing to the Entity. The despair that he forced into them was what she needed in her realm.
She could sense the killers getting soft. A bit too comfortable with their roles and slacking off. A bit too focused on you. But this, this monster was exactly what she needed.
Hawkins demise was in no doubt a fate that was going to occur, despite the silly attempts of the group of teenagers, but she decided she would grant them a miracle.
She wasted no time in casting a fog over the upside down, grabbing her missing chest piece. She never guessed the rage he had storming inside would overpower her.
She lost control.
The first victim was Meg.
It had been a suspiciously long time since anyone was sent into trial. Ever since two new survivors had been introduced to the survivors camp, another tense moment of screaming and attempts of explaining the reality of their situation, no one has felt the familiar fog tugging at them.
“Fuck ! Fuck!” Nancy had yelled once the initial panic of where they were wore off. She had began pacing as the other, Steve, was looking around at the woods that surrounded the camp in confinement. “We were so fucking close to defeating him!”
A fear struck through all the survivors as more time went on.
Part of you wanted to get up and leave the camp and head towards any of the other realms. Try to talk to the killers, who had grown..somewhat soft with you, about what’s occurring. But it’s only been a while. You were sure the entity was busy with whatever was brought with the new pair.
Speaking of the pair, your friends kept sparing glances towards them. Obviously no one was going to be the one to ask so you got up.
“Who exactly were you up against?” You asked quietly as you sat next to them on the log they secluded themselves too. Nancy leg was bouncing as she glanced at you for a second before shaking her head.
“It doesn’t matter now I guess. We somehow managed to go through another portal.” She stated coldly, “Now everyone we know is probably dead and we’re stuck here.”
“Nancy. Come on don’t say that. We’ll find a way out of here.” Steve places his hand on her arm, watching her turn away and stare off into the woods. You were about to break it to them that whatever they were talking about, was mostly here with them.
But a scream beat you to it.
You shot up out of your seat as Claudette came out the woods distraught, blood staining her hands as she held them up. Just a few feet behind her, behind the line of trees, you could see a lump that was barely recognizable. But as you got closer to Claudette who was stuttering and blabbering through her tears, you make sense of the distortion of limbs.
A gasp rips out of you as you slam your hand over your mouth.
“Meg..she’s, she’s dead ! S-she’s..” Claudette sobbed. Nancy pushed past you as she looked past Claudette towards Meg’s body. Her own gasp following as she looks towards Steve, a look of understanding shared between them, before looking at you. Pure terror evident in her eyes.
“Here’s here.”
The realm begin to collapse.

This is gonna be so long i am so sorry but i’ve been reading WG3 all throughout the day, at work, on the street and as i ate my lunch so its been all on my mind for HOURS now and i have to SCREAM about it somewhere 🤷‍♀️
First things first… Wanda, bestie, is currently in, what i’ve coincidently learned recently is called, the ✨dick sand✨ its where you lose touch of reality and friends and everything that actually matters and just fall for a guy like a fucking idiot falling into quick sand, so yeah we definitely hate this version of Wanda but i shan’t judge until Curtis like cheats on her or something, which he will, and she’s left a sobbing mess being dragged out of the ✨dick sand✨
Also… we still have yet to see her handle reader in this fragile state and if she keeps ditching her for Curtis while she’s this distraught… you must kill her off please and thank you 😌
I understand that its more convenient for the plot for reader to forget about what happened in the ride back home with Steve but like she remembered being fucked in front of everyone by Ari while being most high and drunk! I’ve never been drunk before so i dont know if the haze intensifies as the liquor runs through ones’ veins but like i just hated that for her because it could have saved her but like i said it is essential for the plot i guess so i’ll just shut up about it 🥲
I LOVE how it all started with Ari forcing himself on reader and ended it with Steve doing the same thing and how the difference in her reactions was stark, depending on the dickhead, her feelings towards each one and just like the actual way they did the forcing! And i cannot believe that i am team Ari now! Like you’re really about to convert so many of us to Ari stans after this because Steve is a fucking monster and also you should definitely kill him off as well please and thank you 😌
Thank you for giving us a fragile and submissive reader who got to actually speak up and say no for once before all hell broke loose.. well.. looser 😅 with poyt, Omega was seriously pushed to her most extreme edge before falling over and just saying enough and even the way she said it was more to herself than to Steve tbh so this was a lovely change and i am grateful for it so thank you bestie 💜
Fucking Sharon! I can’t believe you made her nice and sweet! That is so genius of you but like also diabolical 😈 it’s like you had an angst bingo card and you’re just FEROCIOUSLY going for the win 😂
The ball hitting reader was just *chef’s kiss* and its just perfect for me cause this was such a classic romcom moment and then having Ari scoop her up and take care of her is also another classic romcom move and i love you so much for it! God you’re so talented im gonna cry 😭
Speaking of the scoop, Ari felt fast for reader, huh? Did not think he would fold so damn fast! I mean i understand your assholes tend to have a heart hidden deep deep DEEP within them that ends up beating hard for your readers but i thought this one would take longer so i am definitely pleasantly surprised i must say 🤭
Now for The Beef… i think Kira has to do with it. That kind of hostility between boys almost always circles back to a girl they fought over or like a sister that got burned lol but like also let me congratulate you on your stunning talent to make me hate Steve Rogers’ guts and to make him the WORST human being ever when his image is that of a golden retriever. Kudos bestie you have done what no one has ever been able to do which is break us essentially but we love it 💋
I can’t wait to hear Steve’s backstory about when he was hospitalized for his anger issues btw i’m holding my breath for that one cause neglectful parents 🤝 angry and confused child is very relatable to me and representation matters 👍
“I broke up with her.” is like singlehandedly the most powerful phrase i’ve read in a fanfic in a long time because the timing, Ari saying it and the way he chose to say it are all just so incredibly and perfectly woven together to create the best plot twist EVER! Again with the genius and the talent and the you’re the goat shenanigans 🙂
I love the questions at the end cause its such a clever way to engage with your readers and honestly you are one of the best fanfic writers in this fandom at that! Your blog is honestly just the best place to hang out and just have the best of fun like we’re all just this insane group of besties who keep fighting over Ari’s 13 inch dick (when soft) and spewing hatred in the ugly and icky face of Andy Barfer lol
I’m so sorry this is long but i’ve made a promise to myself that i would read every review for this chapter since i never did it for any of the previous ones or ever for poyt cause i have the attentions span of a snail so i just took liberty and just talked my ass off to kinda compensate for all the reading imma be doing lol
Anyway, in case it aint obvious yet, loved the chapter to death. Love you to death. Forever grateful for all that you give us. You feed us so well, mother, we are so chubby and cute just like little Rosie 😘😘😘😘
Yep, Wanda is definitely in dick sand right now! I love that hahaha, it fits perfectly.
And it’s not uncommon for people to remember only bits and pieces when they were drunk. When the Ari stuff happened, she had just drank. When the Steve stuff happened later, she was fully gone lmao. Like when I’ve gone on nights out, there have been times where I remember the beginning of the night but then have no recollection of anything else until the very end. And other times I remember everything! So it all just depends.
Also I didn’t really think you guys would think Steve was a monster 🤔😂 Like, as you said, they BOTH forced themselves on her. But the one who stopped and apologised is the monster and not the one who clearly didn’t stop? That’s soooo interesting to me mwahahah, but I didn’t see this reaction coming from yall but it seems to be the popular one! Tbh they’re both fucking monsters bahahaha but it’s called wicked games for a reason! 🤭🤭 also I think reader’s reaction to Steve in his bedroom was BECAUSE of her past experiences with Ari!! It made her wiser to the fuckboyness of boys hehehe and wary too!
Also hahaha I am so happy you appreciate the questions at the end tbh i do the questions at the end bc i remember a lot of writers doing it on 1dff (the 1d fanfic site) back in like 2014 lol and even I did it when I wrote a fic there! It’s bc whenever I finish a fic im so frazzled bc I’ve taken in so much info so all I can do as a review is a keyboard smash so the questions are a good way for me to gather my thoughts so I thought it would be the same for you guys!
Thank you so much for reading and leaving such a wonderful review bestie! I love you sm 🩷🥹 Now let’s see if Ari truly lives up things bc he has a lot more people in his corner this time around hehehe

STRANGER THINGS 5
And things I want to think might happen :
Steve is going to die - don't ask me why, I don't want it to happen but I just feel it : the lack of romance/ambition, the closure he and Nancy need, Robin's nagging feeling that things might not work out for them.
But Robin might live because of the introduction of Vickie.
Eddie will hopefully come back as Kas.
Billy might reappear in the Upside Down, in Vecna's mind - the people he kills sort of end up here, and Billy might help El find Max there.
The Mind Flayer was not exactly created by Henry : the realm and its creatures already existed but they took the shape of Henry's vision and feelings, as if Henry became an anchor.
Eleven (or Will) will become that new anchor, transforming the realm and keeping it a safe place, still open but hidden from the real world.
All the people who died because of demo-creatures, the Mind Flayer or from Vecna's hand (Billy, the flayed, Fred, Chrissy, Eddie, etc...) are going to remain in that new realm - sort of like souls that can't come back into their human bodies.
If Eleven becomes the anchor, Will and Mike might end up together with the time skip.
Will might gain some powers because of his connection with Vecna and the Upside Down - he is the wise who throws fireballs after all.
If I follow my anchor theory, Will has way more influence on the Upside Down than he knows : it is stuck not the day Henry arrived, but the day Will was taken and learnt about this parallel world. He is also the one with imagination and drawing talents, like some kind of creator.
Or, taking a completely different road, Vecna and the Mind Flayer always planned for Will to help/join them : the demogorgon could have just eaten him, but it actually captured him, kept him alive for the vines to put baby demo-dogs in his body, let Hopper and Joyce take him back in the real world to then let the demo-dogs invade it. Then, Will was never the target: his connection with the Upside Down allowed the Mind Flayer to attach itself to him - using the whole demo-dogs and vine tunnels as a distraction until it was finally expelled from Will's body into Hawkins. It allowed it to get to the next step : taking solid form to fight El and take her powers to give Vecna through their connection. You'll notice that since season 3, Will is not really threatened by anything beside the government. The Mind Flayer used him as a tool for its grand project, and I believe it might be expecting more from him.
I really want Karen to get involved - she really is the only parent who sees something is going on, the only one who seems to take charge (a quality Nancy inherited), and she also craves to finally be herself and be free from this life that is not really hers.
Will finally coming out, properly - to his brother and mother at least.
A Robin and Vickie kiss because they deserve it.
Vecna taking back his Henry appearance when defeated. Following my theory, this Vecna appearance is all about his vision, but he truly is just an impetuous child who, instead of dealing with the world like El, fought with children, killed everyone who disagreed with his vision, never truly had a right education because of Dr. Brenner, and is somehow fulfilling a dream he had as a child : he was lonely and misunderstood, and therefore, angry with the entire world (very similar to neurodivergent kids who are left without help to navigate the world), and he never grew out of it, mostly because of the Mind Flayer feeding his powers, his anger and his homicidal fantasies.
I'd love an interaction between Will and Eddie (if he comes back), or between Nancy/Eddie and Billy (if he even reappears - they'd bully him and make him cry lol)
That's it for now, but I might add to it later, if some other crazy idea or theory comes to me haha.

@lrsimmer he said it back 😍
Transcript under the cut
Laurel – This place is insane! Who did you get in to decorate? Was it Kael? He has very distinctive and fabulous style
Margaret – Well actually I had a hand in most of it
Laurel – Really? I didn’t expect you to have a hidden talent in decorating
Margaret – Well no, I haven’t tried it before, it was all done for me in the past
Laurel – You know what you absolutely have to do now right?
Margaret – Oh? What’s that?
Laurel - Host a house warming in this glorious new place! You need to fully experience having no parents around! And what better way than having a party!
Margaret – I know what its like to have parent who are not around Laurel you know that – Goldsborough is a big place
Laurel – That is so not the same! We could do it tonight! There's supposed to be a big party at Paul’s house, I could re-route it to here – everyone will want to party inside an actually palace-
Margaret – Whoa slow down! I can’t tonight, I have plans with um- Victoria
Laurel – Isn’t she like 9 months pregnant at the moment?
Margaret – well, yeah – I said I would go sit with her for the evening as my dumb ass brother is busy.
Laurel – Lame
Margaret – Besides, I don’t think it would be a good idea to have a party here. There security on the gates, so many breakables and I'm not the only one who lives at this palace. Also my dad would kill me
Laurel – Your dad would kill you? Really? I thought that this move was you striking out on your own – ready to try new things.I thought that finally you would be free to hang out as you have been so MIA recently. I guess I was wrong.
Margaret – Laurel wait! I’m sorry. This is all new to me okay? Let go to party later in the week? I know you know all the good parties. We can work up to maybe MAYBE having something here later in the year. Once I get more settled.
Laurel – I'm holding you to that!
--
Margaret - Well hey there stranger
Steve-  Wow you look amazing. I feel underdressed now
Margaret - I’m sure you wont feel that way for long. Ready for the grand tour?
Steve - I have a present for you
Margaret - What? You didn't have to get me anything
Steve - I know. I wanted to
Margaret - Oh Steve….
Steve - I know its not as fancy as you are used to, but I saw it the other day in town and I just couldn’t go past it. It made me think of you – my star
Margaret - I… oh Steve… I just…
Steve - What? Did I get it wrong? I thought that as you usually wear gold jewellery…. I can take it back-
Margaret - No! Its perfect
Steve -  I love you

1945 Agent Carter and the Howling Commandos
Feature presentation!
This is Peggy Carter's first and possibly only movie with her name in the title.
Peggy, the Human Torch (Jim Hammond) and the Howling Commandos dealing with Hydra cells left after the war.
Espionage! Infiltration! Fighting bad guys!
We open on a memorial service for Steve. They believe he is lost to the icy waters he crashed into.
Peggy Carter, Howard Stark, the Human Torch (Jim Hammond), the Howling Commandos, Colonel Phillips etc attend. Then they share Steve stories at the wake.
Emotions are still raw, especially for Peggy and the commandos.
Howard is still looking for him, the SSR has stopped funding the search so Howard is using his own money. Peggy suggests, however hard it may be, that they try to move on. Howard doesn't believe Peggy, he knows she can't move on. He can't either so he won't give up.
Cut to two young adults being chased down the street in liberated Paris. They are kidnapped. They try to reason with their captors, the young man says, "Do you know who I am?" and the kidnappers know exactly who they are. Not the response he was expecting.
The young woman says "Our father has money, he can pay you". But they are not interested in the money…Hail Hydra.
Back at SSR HQ (or 'the playground') Jim is discussing a mission to locate and take out a Hydra bunker (believed to be in northern Italy) with Peggy and Howard. As they finish Peggy is approached by Lord James Montgomery Falsworth, member of the Howling Commandos, revealed here to be a major financier of the SSR. It was his children, Brian and Jacqueline, that were taken, in Paris, just like their mother. There is no ransom note either, also like their mother.
He is trying to maintain a stiff upper lip but failing miserably. Jim offers to stay and help. Peggy points out that, unfortunately, Hydra won't defeat itself. They resolve to find them. Jim wishes them luck and sets off for Italy.
Cut to Brian and Jacqueline in a holding cell with other prisoners. A Hydra scientist, Werner Rheinhardt, enters carrying the Obelisk artifact in special safety gloves. An armed guard insists one of the prisoners hold it, bare handed. They turn to stone. The stone person is taken away.
They then start harassing Brian to do it, so Jacqueline steps in to volunteer, despite his protests. To their relief, she does not turn to stone. Instead, Rheinhardt utters, 'discovery requires experimentation' and she is taken away as Brian is beaten unconscious with the butt of the guards rifles.
Peggy, Howard and Lord James and the other HCs have travelled incognito, posing as journalists. In their hotel room Gabe and Howard present them with discreet gadgets they designed and produced together. All are impressed with Gabe's hidden talents. Howard laments that he is too well known now to go with them and hopes they don't blow themselves up with the exploding toaster. Jacques excitedly says, "There's an exploding toaster!?". Howard points out that he was joking. Jacques looks disappointed. Howard says maybe next time.
They have traced Brian and Jacqui's last known location to a small café near the city centre. They make discreet enquiries and deduce there is a new waiter who served them on the day and hasn't been to work since.
They go to his address and he seemingly isn't home. Jacques suggests a small controlled explosion to blow the lock. Gabe counters that to be more discreet, then should use the laser disguised as a pack of cigarettes to cut the lock. Jacques is disappointed.
They cut the lock and enter, the apartment is empty but the bathroom window is open. Lord James spies a man on the rooftops who flees. The gang take to the streets while Falsworth squeezes through and pursues across the rooftops of Paris.
The suspect is very good at rooftop running, but not quite as good as Falsworth and they engage in a thrilling chase. Lord James is in constant communication with the team using their walkie talkies disguised as American quarters. Peggy has an idea if he can force the man down to street level.
He is able to corral his quarry down a fire escape and through an apartment window and down the main staircase into the street. The team then begin to cut off his escape routes, through coordination with Peggy, until he is forced down a narrow sidestreet. There he sees Peggy, having not spotted her in the apartment, pleads in French for her help from a gang of pursuing thugs. Je suis désolé, says Peggy pulling out her pistol, my French is a little rusty. The suspect turns away from her to flee again but is punched out by Dugan instead.
Jacques offers Peggy French lessons. She says she lied, she's actually fluent in French, but it was a good line. Jacques looks disappointed.
Falsworth is praised by the group for his amazing free running skills, they ask where he learned them. He says he studied under Georges Hébert who in turn had learned these skills from "indigenous tribes he had met in Africa" (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkour) for a special military project in WWI.
Peggy surmises that he was the mysterious WWI hero Union Jack. Peggy and the gang are astonished and asked why he didn't show those skills (rooftop running, parkour, amazing feats of agility) before. He says Steve did all that stuff and was better at it too.
Peggy says oh pish posh (or something else peculiarly British like that) and tells Falsworth to take the compliments.
They take the suspect for questioning.
Back at the Hydra research facility, Rheinhardt is monologuing to Jacqui about how few people could survive contact with the Obelisk and how they are yet to exactly determine why they do. From what they have discovered by interrogating and dissecting other survivors they believe it is something to do with their genetics being different to other humans. Genetics, muses Werner,  you appear to share with your mother. Jacqueline asks if they took her mother, if she is still alive. Werner says she escaped and they don't know how (he is irritated by not knowing things).
He resumes monologuing. There are mentions of a ritual, he says, for beings such as you…to awaken their true potential. The ritual involved crystals and Rheinhardt has actually managed to procure some. He instructs the guard to break it and leaves for the observation room.
The guard follows the instructions and the gas from the broken crystal turns both them and Jacqui into stone. Rheinhardt is disappointed as he believed they were finally getting somewhere. He tells his assistant to put the stone bodies into storage.
Brian, meanwhile, is about to have the latest batch of Hydra brand super soldier serum. It uses the blood of the Obelisk survivors to make up the gaps in Erskine's original formula. After the procedure, they are surprised to see he has survived as the last 47 batches have resulted in death for the test subjects.
Their success is short lived however as Brian, unaccustomed to the super-strength, breaks the lab and accidentally kills the technicians.
The café waiter/suspect wakes up in the basement of an abandoned building. He is interrogated by Peggy (good cop) and Dum Dum (bad cop).
He eventually confesses that he was blackmailed under the threat of being revealed as a Nazi collaborator. An old contact had heard of the Falsworth children coming to Paris. The Café was a favourite of the Falsworths in the interwar years. They had installed the young man as a waiter with instructions to call if they came to the café. They ask for the number and Jim radios Howard to call back to base to trace it to its origin.
The young man says he couldn’t do it before because he was too scared.
Peggy says "Do what?"
The man says that he is now more scared of what will happen if he is found out. He says they are executing collaborators.
Peggy says perhaps they can come to an arrangement, then she realises his intentions. It is too late. He bites the hidden cyanide capsule and dies.
"It's Hydra" says Peggy, "of course it's bloody Hydra."
The number then comes back as Austrian. Howard, glad to feel useful again, will fly them. Dugan realises, entirely too late, they could have used the hand-held hypno-beam disguised as a hair dryer.
The Hydra research facility is masquerading as a grand hotel. Peggy checks in with Howard as he's terrible at espionage and is under strict instructions to keep his mouth shut. Her German is still good and she even manages an Austrian accent. Their disguises are top notch and so they go to their room without suspicion. They do some reconnaissance and Peggy finds an area that is off limits to guests and the staff don't know what's in there.
Peggy goes back to the room and calls reception for help as her "hair dryer" has an American plug. It is secretly the hypno beam. She convinces the receptionist to let the Howling Commandos in the service door. They are disguised as staff and the hypno beam makes the receptionist tell anyone who asks that they are new.
Howard, putting on a slightly different accent, plays the brash American tourist (not a big stretch for him) and wanders into the restricted area and starts taking pictures. The receptionist makes a fuss about not being allowed in there.
The Howling Commandos rush over and Gabe, who also speaks good German, assures them that they'll take care of it. Peggy hurries over with the pretense of rescuing her 'dummkopf' American husband.
The camera is actually a portable x-ray scanner and shows a secret door that is sealed electronically.
The receptionist is starting to get suspicious when Gabe activates the EMP joy buzzer which lets them in the door. They slip away unnoticed in the ensuing chaos. When the lights come back on the receptionist goes to check up on them and they are gone. With no knowledge of the secret door they reason that they simply didn't notice them go past.
They gain access to the underground bunker (it's always an underground bunker isn't it?), stow their gear and change into Hydra uniforms. Jim Morita uses the UHF Pin to radio for backup with instructions on how to get in.
They try to go stealth mode for a while but arouse suspicions when they don't know some of the new Hydra protocols. Howard confirms it with his feeble attempt at a 'Hail Hydra'.
Aware that Hydra research subjects tend not to survive, they launch a full on assault of the facility with back up already on the way.
Jacqueline awakens from what we now realise was terragenesis and has gained pyrokinetic powers. She and her brother make their own way through the compound, with somewhat unintentional violence.
They are heading away from the labs, towards the centre of the huge underground complex of corridors and tunnels. Peggy's team are heading down through the tunnels to reach the labs. They all converge near the centre of the complex.
Lord James is obviously thrilled that they are both alive and seemingly well.
His kidults tell him to stay back and relay some of their harrowing experiences. They are both afraid of their powers.
Human Torch arrives. He destroyed the Italian base and left an SSR clean up crew. He followed a lead from that base to Austria. Word in Italy was that Werner Rheinhardt is the last head of Hydra.
Seeing Jacqui's fear, the Torch remembers his own struggles in learning to control his own powers.
He reassures her that she can't hurt him and he will help her learn to control it.
Brian wants to be left behind and is distraught at all the death he has caused. Peggy and Lord James convince him to join, albeit reluctantly.
Rheinhardt has escaped to a storage facility.
As it turns out, the kids powers prove useful in accessing the escape tunnel, though the transport is long gone.
Werner is desperately trying to load up as many artefacts as he can before he escapes, especially the Obelisk. He laments that he cannot experiment further on Jacqueline as she not only survived but gained powers too. He is relieved to hear they have more samples of the batch of serum that gave Brian his powers.
Peggy's team arrive, with backup (and the Torch) and get the drop on Werner. They arrest him and his goons. Peggy volunteers to interrogate him.
In the chaos of securing the base, Brian is able to destroy the whole batch of serum. Howard is livid at losing a possibility to complete Erskine's work. Peggy however, approves. She believes that Steve was unique and worries that they could end up with hundreds of Johann Schmidts running around instead.
She sees that Brian has recognised that risk too and that says something about his character.
Peggy arrives at the Playground after her first interrogation of Rheinhardt at the Rat.
Colonel Phillips has been leading the debrief. He notes that Jacqueline and Brian have been reunited with their father. He says their presence here indicates they have some degree of control over their powers.
Jim Hammond says their training is going well. Jacqueline says she hasn't set anything on fire today, at least, not by accident. The two are clearly getting on well.
Brian is more reticent. He hasn't managed to get through a training session without injuring an instructor. Peggy volunteers to help him as she has some experience with super soldiers.
Phillips asks if she got anything useful from Rheinhardt. She says he may have lost his marbles, he keeps going on about blue angels. Besides, she has seen the results of his experiments for Hydra and isn't sure if gaining his knowledge is worth the moral cost.
Colonel Phillips says there are two big announcements. First, after days of research and fact checking and double checking, it appears Hammond was right. Werner Rheinhardt appears to be the last head of Hydra. It's over.
(Many congratulations all around. Apart from Peggy who shakes her head).
Second, he is retiring.
(Various reactions).
He'd been thinking about it and, with the last piece of news, it just seemed like a good time.
He hands over to the new Agent in Charge, John Flynn.
Flynn: Hello everyone. A pleasure to meet you. If I could get straight to business…with the war over and Hydra defeated-
Peggy (interrupting): Don't be so sure they're gone. We have to-
F (interrupting back): Settle down, sweetheart.
P (standing): What did you just say to me?
Howard manages to convince her to stand down. Flynn continues. They will be relocating the SSR base from London to New York. Effective immediately. Everyone will have to relocate. Uproar. Colonel Phillips settles everyone down.
Flynn says the Falsworth children will need to stay on base until they are deemed to be safe. The Falsworths are not happy.
Flynn is starting to get flustered. He apologetically tells Howard that they can longer justify spending SSR funds on a futile search for Captain Rogers. Howard points out they are his funds and he can damn well do what he pleases with them. He walks out. Peggy follows him, leaving the debrief in chaos behind her.
Howard apologises and said he had heard rumours that Phillips was retiring but didn't realise he was being replaced by a moron. He says they should have asked her to take charge. She agrees. This lightens the mood somewhat.
Howard: Listen I was thinking of starting up my own agency.
Just think…you, me, the boys. If Union Jack over there comes with us we can run it our way, the right way. Be like a shield of armour around the world.
Peggy: I'll think about it…
Will you really keep looking for Steve?
H: I have to.
P: You can't move on?
H: I can't. He was my friend.
P: I suppose I can't stop myself helping broken soldier boys either.
Howard leaves her to consider her future with the SSR.
Mid credits:- Lord James Falsworth has just agreed to join Howard's new project and is trying to get the SSR to release his children. Jacqueline and Brian approach him with a theory about their mother.
Post credits:- From a deep dug mass grave in a forest (with Hydra's grand Austrian hotel dilapidated in the background) a person digs their way out. They spend a moment processing their survival. Then they notice they look different from how they remember. It is…Baron Blood!

Space Ghost Week
Wherein we cover an entire season of Space Ghost Coast to Coast over the course of a week
Tumblr media
Space Ghost Coast to Coast #54: “Boatshow” | December 12, 1997 | S04E21
A Very classic episode, even though musical episodes are almost always bad. Musically, you could pick this one apart, but it’s very Space-Ghosty (scrappy, imperfect, weird, and exceptionally funny). Andy Merrill wrote this one, and they had to do very little re-writing for the draft he handed in. The writers described the rewriting process as simply adding more stuff to the episode, which might explain this one’s slightly beefy running time (15 and a half minutes).
This one features Steve Allen, late night host/legend. When I was a kid, he was always this guy who would show up on shows (like this one!) and be fawned over. I’ve yet to find a single person who doesn’t respect Steve Allen. The fact that this was only a few years before he passed away is pretty impressive, because the guy is undeniably sharp. He even speaks Brak-ese. A real pioneer; he did Letterman-esque stunts on TV back when Letterman still had his egg tooth.
Speaking of Brak, Brak’s at his most palatable here. His songs are dumb but catchy, and the music goes along great with them. His final line “I’m really very sad!” has been stuck in my head since forever. Other slightly edgy bits include the runner of Space Ghost and Zorak ganging up on Moltar, berating him unfairly every time he tries to sing, even going as far to declare “we hate you!”. Space Ghost was never REALLY a kid’s show, but this is maybe as unwholesome the Cartoon Network ever got.
Andy Dick fills out the last half of the show, and it turns out they interviewed him specifically for this episode (he even mentions Steve Allen during his interview). He improvises songs and they miraculously come together. This is mentioned on the audio commentary track for this episode on DVD; the music was actually done by a 30+ piece orchestra, which is why they mixed it in 5.1 surround for the DVD.
Andy Dick, like Brak, is maybe at his most tolerable here. In the 90s he was just seen as an affable nerdy guy who you could stick into your show and probably get a funny performance from. It wasn’t until The Andy Dick Show, his MTV sketch comedy series, did I start realizing that when he wasn’t part of an ensemble of geniuses that his comedy instincts were mostly garbage. The Andy Dick Show was painfully unfunny. Way too much reliance on unfunny riffing. Basically, every project where he is the main creative voice behind it is comedically worthless.
Okay, this is the Andy Dick bashing portion of the write-up, so buckle in: His musical comedy albums are complete dreck. In high school, I thought very highly of myself and my ability to write funny things, even though most of that stuff is humiliating to read nowadays. But I went through a phase where I tried to write funny songs, and even at my most egocentric I realized I was a very bad song writer and kept those pieces hidden on my computer. Andy Dick’s original songs remind me of those terrible, no-talent high-school-brained attempts at comedy. Except he RELEASES HIS.
Okay, my Andy Dick story: I attended the annual Bridgetown Comedy festival in Portland, OR, and sat through a show that I remembered very fondly from a previous year. It was a show where all the comics did characters. Andy Dick was top-billed on this show, and the grand finale. His guitar player (who I learned later was his son), went on stage and started vamping: “who’s ready for Daphne Aguilera?” the lack of excitement was palpable, but people politely cheered. Daphne Aguilera, if you’re not familiar, is an Andy Dick character from The Andy Dick Show. She’s Christina Aguilera’s little sister who is also trying to make it in showbiz. It’s also worth noting that we were well past this joke being relevant at all. Who the fuck was talking about Christina Aguilera in the early 2010s?
Daphne doesn’t come out right away, and it doesn’t seem like it’s part of the bit. There’d been rumblings about Andy Dick having fallen off the wagon while in Portland, and terrorizing various venues and shows around the festival. So the guy played guitar for what felt like a few minutes, and then tried to announce Daphne again. It was extremely clear something was wrong. Where the fuck was she?
She eventually shows up, and Andy is clearly really fucked up. Daphne sings a song about being great, and how she’s better and more famous than the audience members watching. So, that was the joke: A celebrity is an egomaniac. Pretty original stuff. At least, this is what I could discern from the lyrics I could actually understand: Andy was barely intelligible singing this song. It was really sad. People started filing out of the venue almost immediately after he started singing, and you sensed that it felt like a very moral decision on the parts of those leaving. I was part of a big group hanging out in the back, and I don’t think any of us left. The room emptied out to an incredible degree, where I feel like 90% of the audience left during the song. At the end, the 10% of us that opted to keep witnessing the train wreck were treated to the grand finale, “Daphne’s” dress falls off. She’s not wearing underwear. Andy had tucked his penis between his legs. That was the big punchline. But then Andy “accidentally” untucks, so his dong flops out in front of what was supposed to be hundreds of people, now just a few dozen. He pretends to be bashful about it while letting his brain hang unfettered.
I remember overhearing Ron Lynch laughing hysterically and saying to somebody “he asked to go ahead of me. He wanted to do THAT before MY set!” If this episode and that incident tell you anything, it’s save Andy Dick for the end.

Speed Of Sound: What Happens To Podcasts That Only Last One Season?
What happens to terrific podcasts when they only last one season? In TV, the shows are reinvigorated when reruns welcome a whole new audience. TV shows with a lifespan of one season include Almost Human, Firefly, Freaks And Geeks, and Whiskey Cavalier. All four of those shows should’ve had longer broadcasting lives.
Where’s the graveyard for podcasts that only lasted one season? In podcasting, it’s often that the producer or host is busy with other projects, not a lack of listeners. But where can you find terrific podcasts worth listening to that have ended for one reason or another? There is not a TBS, which runs reruns of old sitcoms, in podcasting.
Today, I am recommending a music podcast that has not released an episode in two years.
Tumblr media
Speed Of Sound was an iHeart podcast that billed itself as a podcast that will examine the stories behind hit songs, successful bands, and musical genres. In a sense, the podcast, however, was so much more than that.
Not just a podcast about Billboard hits and unveiling eye-popping numbers about record sales and weeks at number one, the podcast contextualized music inside the bigger bubble of pop culture, socioeconomic trends and the hidden dungeons of the music business.
Consider the second episode about The Beatles rise to fame in the U.S. in February 1964. Greenberg published his first book, called “How the Beatles Went Viral In ‘64”, about the Beatles’ rise to U.S stardom in 2014. The book was even excerpted as a cover story in Billboard magazine in January 2014. So Greenberg used that inside knowledge to weave a tale of how The Fab Four, blessed with talent, also benefited with an odd confluence of cultural, generational and global factors that created the illusion of their “instant fame” in the U.S.
Here’s where the podcast truly excelled. First, Greenberg — although intimately familiar with this material — possesses perfect pitch for immersive storytelling. His dramatic narration, his vivid descriptions of characters like TV Host Ed Sullivan and Capitol Records president Dave Dexter, who thought The Beatles would never make it in the U.S., breathed life into the story of the lovable moptops.
True to its name, Speed Of Sound used varied and well-blended sounds and voices in its episodes. Old interviews, new interviews with key characters, TV show audio clips, song clips, and different people often voicing these characters creates the illusion of a painstakingly crafted tale instead of a straightforward recount of famous musical artists and their chart hits.
He can do it all One major reason that the podcast is so compelling is its host — Steve Greenberg, who is recognized for “discovering” popular musical acts such as Hanson, Baha Men, Jonas Brothers, Joss Stone and AJR. He received a 2000 Grammy Award in the “Best Dance Recording” category as a producer of “Who Let the Dogs Out?” by Baha Men. Greenberg also won a 2019 Grammy Award in the “Best Album Notes” category for his essay featured in the “Stax ’68: A Memphis Story” boxed set.
From 2005 to 2006, Greenberg was the president of Columbia Records, where he produced the debut album by the Jonas Brothers.
Prior to founding S-Curve Records, Greenberg was Head of Artists & Repertoire for Mercury Records, where he served as executive producer of Hanson’s single “Mmmbop”, which spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and their debut album Middle of Nowhere.
He was also nominated for Grammy Awards in 1992 in the “Best Historical Album” category as the producer of “The Complete Stax/Volt Singles 1959–1968” boxed-set and in 1995 in the “Best Album Notes” category for “Otis! the Essential Otis Redding.
As a writer, Greenberg contributed the chapter on Sugarhill Records to the book “The Vibe Magazine History of Hip Hop” (1999) and the chapter on pop music in the 1980s to the collection “Living In the ‘80’s” (Gil Troy, ed.), published by Oxford University Press in 2009.
Podcast with a twist The third and fourth episodes were about the early 60s dance and hit record sensation The Twist by Chubby Checker. Here is where Greenberg’s insights spin a tale involving everything from a mob-controlled bar in New York City, the growth of youth culture in the early 60s, the optimism of the JFK administration, the racial segregation so ingrained in society and even Dick Clark and some of the machinations on American Bandstand.
It’s rare that a podcast about a dance phenomenon where people can swivel their hips could be a beacon for so much that was broken about our society in the 50s and early 60s. Greenberg presages generational clashes when he tells listeners that once adults began to embrace and enjoy The Twist as a dance, kids then quickly moved on to other dances and music simply because it had become “square.”
You should be dancing During its one season, Speed Of Sound released a four-part series on Disco and again Greenberg isn’t content to explain the intricacies of Donna Summer and the Bee Gees.
Greenberg recounted how Disco began and ended with riots, 10 years apart, almost to the day — the Stonewall Uprising of 1969 and Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park in ’79 — but its roots stretch back much further.
Greenberg detailed how early DJs like David Mancuso, Francis Grasso and Nicky Siano helped establish the archetypical stylings and techniques of DJing, establishing signature sounds, extending grooves, avoiding the hits, and stringing together disparate records. Their innovations helped make DJs the stars of nightlife.
Greenberg details the unique musical attributes of Disco and how Philadelphia soul artists like MFSB and Eddie Kendricks established the dominant musical characteristics of disco: the long lengths, the four-on-the-floor pulse, the open hi-hat sound, and more.
Then Greenberg explained how disco entered the mainstream with the release of The Hughes Corporation’s “Rock The Boat” with a version that bolstered the bass and drums to give it a distinctive sound that would resonate on dance floors. It was an immediate sensation that went to number one in the US.
Music to my ears There are already plenty of terrific music podcasts in circulation. Switched On Pop, Song Exploder, Slate’s Hit Parade and others excel at either explaining how music can be dissected into its component parts, how a song is composed and recorded, or why and how songs perform on the Billboard charts.
Speed Of Sound was unique because it can perform all of these musical and narrative functions while connecting popular music to the societal, political and generational forces that infuse meaning into the music that goes beyond tempo, timbre or theatrics.
You can listen here.
There are many “ear worthy” podcasts that only lasted one season. How can we listen to them? Where is the resource to find them?
Let me know about one-season podcasts that you believe are still worthy of ear-time, and any resource to find podcasts that have “passed on” but can still be resurrected by a new audience.

Lately I've been really curious about "funnel" games - these are games where you roll up a whole bunch of randomly-generated "level-0" characters with no special powers, and you stick them in an extremely dangerous situation. The idea is that most of them are probably going to die, but the ones who remain are - idk - forged into true heroes or whatever. I'm not as interested in that part.
The part that I think is interesting is how these are not carefully crafted characters that the players are deliberately building. Instead they're basically blank slates and the session slowly reveals who the characters are via the outcome of rolls. I wanted to try to make a game that would lean into that and make it more interesting than just "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger".
I thought the Supernatural universe might be an appropriate setting for a funnel game - thinking of eps like 11x01 or Croatoan or 5x02, where there's a whole bunch of more or less ordinary people who get into dangerous Supernatural stuff and hunters aren't always around to save them. That's how a lot of hunters got their start, right?
So I wrote up a whole bunch of rules based on and ran a playtest tonight.
Tumblr media
The characters with a red tint are dead, so a pretty lethal game!! A few of those are NPCs.
The characters mark with yellow dots were Anthony's characters: * Gene, the piano teacher who knits for fun (tried to stab a ghost with a knitting needle - it didn't work) * Lex, the Philosophy professor and gardener (successfully talked a ghost out of killing her, then hid in a chimney to escape a bloodbath) * Cassie, a student and WoW streamer who streamed her own death The characters with green dots were Jack's characters: * Scrungo Bepis, a movie-loving construction worker (bravely fought off the ghost who killed Cassie, then used her Twitch audience to get additional ghost-fighting tips) * Walter the White, a maintenance worker and hiking enthusiast (slowed a demon down long enough for the others to get away) * Succulent Steve (a nurse with a survivalist prepping hobby, who discovered hidden talents for lock-picking and judo) My idea was that you started out with nothing but a name, an occupation, and a hobby, and you could gain additional skills over time by trial and error or by remembering skills from childhood. But in this session, only Steve was able to take advantage of that. Playing into Supernatural's sort of bioessentialist nature, you could even learn that a character has a "heritage" such as psychic, vessel, monster, etc etc. (In this game, none of those heritages make you innately evil or less human.) But that roll never came up. I think one session is maybe too short to get the "character discovery" aspect that I really wanted.
Anyway, still very early in the playtesting but it was fun. Next I want to try a 2-3 session game and see if that helps the character advancement mechanics work better. I also want to try making a way to transfer "level 0" characters from this game into level 1 Monster of the Week playbooks...

What's up, my friends???
I promised you all in June that I would be back in August for another massive post. Here I am!
Today is August 13th, better known as the 39th birthday to the man who through his body of work has inspired happiness, sadness, fury, laughter, tears, a little bit of fear, and of course, lust beyond our wildest dreams.
He's been a sergeant turned assassin turned Avenger. He's been a witch and a mad hatter, a doctor and astronaut. He's been an undercover detective and a corrupted sheriff who's pretty nifty with a Pepsi cup. He's been an especially bendy gold medalist and will pretend to be your cousin just to steal your money. He's been a race car driver, a pentagon suit, and a husband who will take out his wife's competition at the knees all the while rocking an awesome pornstache. He's gotten naked and shown us his cheeks, he's even graced the screen with glasses and pouty lips making us forget for a moment that he was spree killer. And very soon, we will get to see him as a world famous rockstar with a to die for sextape. I'm speaking of course of the talented, incomparable Sebastian Stan!!!
Tumblr media
You all know how much I try to support every author on this site I come across by either following, liking, or reblogging. These past two years, I have had the privilege of coming across some very memorable stories featuring various forms of Sebastian Stan's many characters. I spent the last two weeks compiling a list of 30 of my absolute favorite stories.
Before we begin, be advised some of these stories are dubious consent, non-con, daddy kink, mommy kink, spitting, squirting, oral m/f receiving, creampie, anal, double penetration, explicit language, and all other manner of kinks I did not realize I enjoyed until joining this fandom.
So let's jump right in!
Tumblr media
@shurisneakers ~ Harmless ~ Bucky Barnes
I'm about maybe ten chapters in. It's hard to tell because the story flows so seamlessly. You've got a "villian" that S.H.I.E.L.D. constantly monitors, and lo and behold Bucky is assigned to the mission. This one's such a hidden gem!
@luxeavenger ~ Backstage Pass ~ Rockstar!Bucky Barnes
This is probably the sixth or seventh Rockstar!Bucky story I've read and it's only renewed my love for Sebastian Stan and his Tommy Lee look. I've never, ever fantasized about what it might be like to fall in love with a rockstar, let alone two, but Backstage Pass has me longing for the days when music was still worth wanting to follow the band.
@navegandoaciegas ~ No sweeter innocence than our gentle sin ~ Innocent!Priest Bucky Barnes
Whew! This one is a trip. Usually, in these types of stories, the priest is the predator. In this one, Bucky is the prey. It's everything you didn't realize you wanted in a story.
@jobean12-blog ~ Drawn to Love ~ Bucky Barnes
I love visiting this blog. The writing here reminds me of @donutloverxo in that you get a sense of a sweet, gentle reader almost every time with their partners always being loving and protective. This particular story was written in response to Marvel's What If...? I enjoyed this story so much that I'm not concerned whether I watch the actual show or not. It's that good.
@gotnofucks ~ Their Surrogate ~ Dark!Bucky & Dark!Steve
This one was rough. So well written! In the beginning, despite heeding the warnings, you think Bucky and Steve are these wonderful men just looking to make their family complete by having a child. It's actually so much worse than that! Dibs is amazing and I'm never disappointed or left wanting with her stories. You read Their Surrogate and you'll see why!
@avintagekiss24 ~ Contour ~ Shadow Monster!Bucky
Brittany is one of the most talented, creative writers I have ever had the honor to read from. I never imagined sex with a shadow monster, even if the shadow monster is Bucky. Yet, she makes it happen, and afterwards, once you've calmed down, I guarantee you will actively search the shadows of your bedroom walls wishing it was Bucky looking back at you.
@river-soul ~ A Tender Heart ~ Alpha!Bucky Barnes
A/B/O stories can go either way. A Tender Heart, however, gives you a burgeoning love story between a shy Omega and an Alpha who's very conscious of the people's perception of his former life.
@afriendlyblackhottie ~ Nosey ~ Bucky Barnes
This story is a lot of fun. Essentially, Bucky has a gorgeous girlfriend that he's keeping a secret from the team because those guys are, as the title says nosey as hell.
@mypoisonedvine ~ Liberation ~ 70s!Bucky Barnes
Bucky is a bastard in this, I have to say it. But I love the 1970s setting and the attitudes of the era. In this one, the story is completely from Bucky's POV, and as his agitation rises, you know he's going to do something bad to the "mouthy feminist".
@jaybrogers ~ The Ballad of Ghost Bucky ~ Ghost!Bucky
This one is written in the style of a folktale. It reminds me of those unsettling songs and poems in between the stories written in Alvin Schwartz's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
@foxgloveprincess ~You Just Have To Wait ~ Naga!Bucky & Minotaur!Steve
This one is a follow-up to her monster story, It's A Game of Give and Take. The reader is now in a fully developed relationship with Bucky and Steve. There are a lot of comical mishaps and bad timings before we get to see what it's like to make love with a Naga and Minotaur. Fun fact: I'm not at all fond of snakes, but Bucky as a Naga with a bonus appendage weakens my resolve!
@nellblazer ~ Check Out Anytime You Like ~ Ghost!Bucky Barnes
Bucky is not the central character in this fic, but his tragic backstory and the fragility of his emotions resonated with me in such a way that he's the first person I think of whenever this story comes to mind.
@marvelmaree ~ Reverse ~ Bucky Barnes
I'm all about Bucky getting the love story he deserves after so much suffering. This story not only delivers on that front, but we get to go to Wakanda!!!
@jimblejamblewriting ~ Not Quite a Soldat ~ Bucky Barnes
This is one of the best Bucky centric fics I've ever read. It's set in the beginning of Captain America The Winter Soldier and tells the difference in Bucky's story if only he had one more person in his corner.
@angrythingstarlight ~ Bucky's Goats ~ Bucky Barnes
Star has a plethora of Bucky stories. I chose this classic because it's set in Wakanda and we get to see Bucky's goats. Something that seems to be a distant memory now.
Tumblr media
@navybrat817 ~ A Familiar Face ~ Bucky Barnes & The Winter Soldier
You're married to James Buchanan Barnes, what could be better than that? Getting a visit from the Winter Soldier.
@syntheticavenger ~ Right + Click + Save ~ Bucky Barnes
This is one of the more lighthearted fics on Synths page. Bucky is completely tech inept here and it's such a sweet story.
@msruchita ~ The Institute ~ Sebastian Stan / Destroyer!Chris / Dr. Chris Beck / Carter Baizen / Bucky Barnes / Chase Collins / Lance Tucker / Charles Blackwood / Hal Carter
The Institute is written like an amalgamation of all of our fantasies. You end up accepted into a school you don't remember applying for and eight of Sebastian's characters are there serving as your professors and administrators, as well as Sebastian himself.
@dreamlessinparis ~ Informal Affairs ~ Mob!Bucky Barnes
Mob!Bucky is one the best Bucky character arcs. Coupling this with a tale of redemption and love preserving, Informal Affairs is a refreshing change from the usual mob boss stories.
@littlelioncub43 ~ Forts and Sweet Boys ~ College!Justin Capshaw
Lately, there has been a surge of Justin Capshaw stories and drabbles. Sebastian appeared on a episode of Law & Order titled 'Shelter' in 2003, as Justin Capshaw who was a 15-year-old sniper with a heartbreaking backstory. This single episode attests to the versatility of Sebastian's acting range. Forts and Sweet Boys is a delicious and heartfelt glimpse into the world of Mommy Kinks.
@constantwriter85 ~ Seasons of Love ~ Bucky Barnes
This story deals with Bucky suffering from PTSD. He acquires the cutest service dog and like something out of 101 Dalmatians, ends up meeting the love of his life by means of mistaken doggy identity. This is a must read.
@lotusss-flowerbomb ~ Nice To Meet You ~ Bucky Barnes
One of her newer stories, Nice To Meet You takes place during The Falcon & The Winter Soldier. Rather it being only Sam and Sarah, they have another sister who is not afraid to call Bucky out on starting shit with Sam for handing over The Shield. With so many people having an adverse reaction to Bucky being romantically linked to Sarah Wilson because she's a black woman, this story is not only a middle finger to the face of racists, but it's a wonderful what if to the actual What If.
@sagechanoafterdark ~ All Good Things ~ Bucky Barnes
I love ghost stories and tales of the paranormal, but I'm not sure if I could be as calm as the reader in this story when she realize Bucky's ghost is in her apartment. But I finished this series in under two hours because of how good it is. And like in any instance when the paranormal is involved, nothing is ever as it appears to be.
@sweetlyscared ~ You Found Me ~ Bucky Barnes
Soulmate fics are always either really sweet or really tragic. You Found Me combines both. If you didn't already hate Hydra before (of course you do, what's wrong with you?) you definitely will when you read You Found Me.
@slothspaghettiwrites ~ Give me a hand to hold and skin to taste ~ Demon!Lee Bodecker
Who of us has not felt the bitter sting of loneliness? The solution? Summon a crossroads demon! This story is one my go to rereads.
@giorno-plays-piano ~ Orc!Bucky Imagine ~ Orc!Bucky
I usually don't list headcannons because I end up finding something a bit longer to reference, but this one was more of a story formatted like a headcannon. The story itself was a take on the vicious battles waged between humans and orcs. Bucky takes captive the daughter of the humans who slew his parents and cut off his arm. This story would make a killer novella.
@sinner-as-saint ~ Cherry ~ Mob!Sebastian
Some of the greatest Bucky Barnes stories I have read in the past come from @sinner-as-saint particularly the Mafia stories. Cherry is a Mob series that almost immediately gained its popularity through Seb's ruthlessness in his business and softness with his girl. This was my first foray in the Mob world and I've been hooked ever since.
@boxofbonesfic ~ Daylight Robbery ~ Thief!Bucky
Just seeing Thief!Bucky is enough to make you want to read this story. Seeing Bucky actually break into someone's apartment and then get taken down by a cast iron skillet! 😂 For a former assassin he really lacks in paying attention to apartment numbers. If you missed Daylight Robbery, I strongly encourage you to read it. You won't regret it!
@moonbeambucky ~ Friday Night Fights ~ Wrestler!Bucky Barnes
I can't think of a better concept than combining one of the world's greatest loves (wrestling) with the greatest characters ever created (the avengers). This is such a fresh and innovative concept. I reread Friday Night Fights as often as I can. It brings back memories of being a kid and waiting for Smackdown every Thursday night.
@buckycuddlebuddy ~ Peaches series ~ Dadsbestfriend!Bucky Barnes
Usually, Dad's Best Friend stories are about as iffy for me as Stepdad stories, but this one is just too good to pass up. The smut, the emotions, even the concern over her parents finding out, all come together to make this a uniquely enthralling story.
Tumblr media
So, thank you all for stopping by to help celebrate the man who has continued to entertain us for nearly twenty years and still going strong.
Happy Birthday, Sebastian!!! We love you!!
