Fuck Word of Honor
What the hell was Ep. 35? I wanted wholesome fluff after all the shit that happened and was so happy to see Gu Xiang and Cao Weining get married because they’re so cute (and more of the found family dynamic because I love it)
Fuck everything, and I cried like 3 times during that episode

What I love about Ghosts is how much of a slow burn the enemies to found family is. Yes there's a pretty big leap from "tried to kill her" to "forced allies of convenience" in the first two episodes, there needs to be to set up the premise, but after that there's such a gradual build up to a real cosy feel in the group.
It would have been so easy to have this dynamic reach its peak by the end of S1. There's a few soft moments like Alison talking to Pat's family and the Friends sofa bit outside but only after Pat explains to her how important the moonah ritual is to Robin. But it's not enough to make them that close yet and in the finale the ghosts mostly want Alison to stay for their own convenience, except Kitty and Thomas, with Fanny only just beginning to accept Alison is part of her bloodline. Captain still wants them gone but concedes to help them stay more for the others. Alison is touched by the gesture of the jewel but still admits that it's a nightmare living with them and wants to leave - and only stays because Captain screws her over via manipulating Kitty.
S2 starts with her waking up and sighing about how she's still "living the dream" (aka her nightmare). However, so we're not quite on the same page as last season, she has now established a routine with the ghosts and knows what each of them need. There's a feeling of comfort beginning to creep its way in, even if they still annoy her. And they're still not willing to help her at the drop of a hat, especially Julian unless he can get something in return, and some will go as far as to work against her when she's trying to make the house look haunted. Had the Grey Lady episode took place in S5 you know they would have all jumped at the chance to help Alison whatever she asked. But this series has a lot more episode focused on Alison connecting with the group like learning about how Thomas died and the Captain's past and Kitty's kinda sad childhood, so it feels natural and heartwarming when they all come together to help protect the house from burglars for her and she appreciates out loud how they're not as selfish as when she first came there. And they all do what they can to help with the wedding, partly for it to be a success for Alison but also just to help. Honestly on my first watch, with the snow and everything, I thought that was the Christmas special! So it lead in nicely to the actual one. Because the gang are finally at the stage where Alison would be comfortable spending Christmas with them and they all come together to sing with her to make her happy, even Robin who thinks Christmas is just a recent fad.
Series 3 is where that leap from friends to family happens and is contrasted with Alison thinking she's found a long lost blood relative, which she confesses is something she's wanted as she never had a lot of family around her. I like that they didn't have Lucy be her actual sister that turned out to be a villain, as we already have an abusive sister with Eleanor, but it still serves as a parallel between her and Kitty to make Alison realise that she has found a sister, and more. Robin saying "welcome home" and the look on Alison's face is enough to let us know this is no longer just a project for her with some annoying pests to deal with. And the final shot of them all "eating" together is one of my favorites.
The show could have easily ended there if it wanted to. Or it could have gone on another two seasons with everything being perfect and wholesome. But it doesn't; because families are not perfect. We still have an episode centered around the ghosts trying to apologise for upsetting Alison, much like a bunch of kids with an overworked mother, and they want to make it up to her not for their benefits but because of what she means to them. Episode 2 also has Alison missing feeling needed by the ghosts when they're busy doing their own thing and realising she just wants to spend time with them, even if it's just something as simple as a walk with Robin. And when Mary passes on, Alison is absolutely devastated and puts aside her work duties to prioritise helping the other ghosts grieve. Then there's her joining (evil) forces with Julian to take on Barclay together. And the series ends with Robin, who began the show just enjoying scaring the shit out of Alison for the lulz, confronting his ten thousand years old ptsd and taking a bolt of lightning to save her husband.
That's four years of development. Compare this to the CBS version where they all click together a lot faster and we don't see nearly as much of Sam losing her temper with the ghosts, and plots always seem to be wrapped up so much quicker (the fact there was no apology from Thor for possessing her still irks me). This isn't necessarily a knock against the American version, their episodes are ten minutes shorter because of ads, and it's more of a style choice as well as Sam just being a far more patient character than Alison. I know a lot of people prefer that the show begins a lot more wholesome to start with so it's down to taste. For me the heartwarming moments mean so much more when they've been earned over a lot of struggle.
Take the climax of Series 5. It's one of the few moments of TV that have made me gasp out loud. I genuinely forgot that we never saw Alison find out Julian pushed her. I guess I assumed she found out off screen or worked it out when she realised Julian's ghost power. But it really was the perfect point for her to find out; because had it happened any earlier then she wouldn't have hesitated to leave with no amount of speech able to change her mind, and likewise Julian wouldn't have had anything to say to her. But as someone else pointed out, it's much more difficult to forgive someone you love for doing something truly evil, even if at the time you were less than strangers. It's a crushing betrayal for Alison to find out that someone she thought as family once tried to kill her but also that the rest of them kept it secret. There's no obligation or pressure for her to forgive them; but she chooses to, because it's been earned over more than three years. And to parallel the S1 finale, the other ghosts are desperate for her to stay (including Cap this time), no longer for their own convenience but just because they love her.
And now we wait in terror for the Christmas episode to rip all of it to pieces. 🥺

Macaque ♡ Private Play
I can't help but imagine Macaque using his Shadow Play skills to get money- now imagine the reader, his lovely spouse, being a regular of his shows and boom :D
Pre-Shadow Play episode btw cuz he do kinda be needing that lamp still
The pain of having to write this level of wholesome fluff when you've never been in an actual romantic relationship yourself- So I had a lot more fun telling the tale at the end and making it all more dramatic- omegalul
Tumblr media
♡ ~ Fluff ~ ♡
It was yet another night at the theater, and a certain shadow monkey was doing his usual routine of retelling tales that he knew of from his own perspective and memories. Nothing out of the ordinary happened of course. He didn't get many people to see his performance, as usual, due to his plays' times and because of people not usually being interested in the concept of shadow plays as they preferred movies.
Such a shame, really, they were missing out on a great show! At least that's what you thought everytime you would see only a portion of the audience seats having been filled. Your husband did such an amazing show and you would be awestruck each and every time at the visuals he was able to create. Not to mention, his soothing voice was a nice bonus no matter which tale he told. He even used his powers to spice up your private wedding a few years back, using his shadows to calm you down from your nervous high, as well as putting on a shadow play for the few guests you had.
Once the play you were currently watching was over, you and the other people in the audience clapped, delighted at the performance. Some even stood up while the demon man on the stage bowed at the applause.
It didn't take long for the last people to leave the room while you simply sat in your reserved VIP seat as usual. And it didn't take long for your shadow to become a portal for the hooded monkey either as he emerged from it, wrapping his arms around you from behind.
"Hey there, sugarplum, how was work?", he said while nuzzling the crook of your neck. He was still in his human disguise, so unfortunately you were unable to appreciate his fluffy fur. But that didn't make you appreciate him any less as you leaned back into his hold.
You actually showed him your workplace before, which is a rather small thrift shop. Macaque needed some human clothing because the red and black cloak he's using during his plays would not suffice in certain areas of the city. Him in a hooded cloak, being all dark and mysterious, would most certainly garner unwanted attention from demons and humans alike. That's when you showed him some stylization options. Everything you showed him was extremely casual and he loved it.
"It was alright. Not much happened today, besides one customer who didn't understand how a warranty works", you muttered. The monkey let out a low chuckle as you could feel his chest's vibration on your back, leaning further into you. "Anyway, once you're free we can go take a stroll. There's this new 24-hour shop we haven't been to yet." Finally, you decided to turn a bit to give him a quick peck on the lips, making him smirk.
"Well, you're in luck. This one just so happened to be my last play for the night. Just gotta clockout at the counter and we're off", he said as he removed his disguise with his ability, revealing his demon form. He was still wearing his hooded cloak however, nuzzling you with his fur now.
And as he said, he clocked out at the counter... Or rather a shadow clone did while he himself carried you bridal-style outside the theater and onto the dark streets. He didn't let go of you until you were in the darkness of an alleyway, embraced by the shadows. You knew he specifically did this to make you feel safer. Because something he told you early on into your relationship: 'You're a lot safer in the shadows. So don't be afraid of them, especially when I'm here.'
The two of you walked hand-in-hand down the alley, talking about whatever else happened at each of your respective workplaces. Apparently the theater had a major fangirl come in who couldn't stop squealing at Macaque's voice, overall mysterious demeanor, as well as shadow abilities.
You laughed a bit at the image of a random girl in the back of the audience having a fangirl meltdown. "She did stay behind after the play to ask me for my number. Of course I said no and showed her my ring, but can you believe that?" He rolled his eyes at the memory.
"Yes, I can believe that would've happened eventually. After all," you started as you made your shoulder bump into his in an affectionate manner, "you do have an irresistible charm on the character you're putting up while in disguise."
You could've sworn his tail wagged underneath his cloak from the faint movement of fabric your eyes were able to catch behind him, giving you an amused smile. He pouted at your word choice.
"Just while in disguise? Damn, guess I'll need to step up my game as amazing husband to top that character", he chuckled before pulling down his hood. "How about I top the 'mysterious storyteller' right now with a tale I know you'll love?"
You simply stared at him in awe before excitedly nodding your head to give him the 'go'. In response, he let go of your hand and pulled out his lantern from underneath his cloak, twirling it in a fluent motion before it abruptly stopped and lit up in all its purple glory. He then winked as he handed it to you for safekeeping before taking a few steps back towards the opposing wall.
Macaque used both his hands and body to make the shadows behind him move in the usual shadow play fashion you knew from his public plays. Despite being fully aware of his abilities, knowing he doesn't need to do such thing to create those visuals, you appreciated his need to be a bit more dramatic than necessary. It simply added a bit more flare to the experience and made it a lot more enjoyable. But this time he actually incorporated his tail into the play too.
He started out with his eyes closed and his hands behind his back, using his smooth voice to his advantage, "Welcome my loveliest viewer, to a shadow play. The likes of which have never been seen." The simian's eyes opened as he threw a loving glance at you before raising his hand to the night sky. His arm's shadow formed a monkey man behind him. You knew that was him from his previous plays.
"The tale follows up on a warrior's story told not so long ago... There was a lonely warrior, wandering the most darkest corners of an unknown town. Cast aside by his former source of light, the hero, he sought out to find another source to feel whole once more", he started as his shadow now depicted himself and Sun Wukong. The Monkey King seemed to vanish as if turned to dust before being blown away by the wind. Macaque's expression held a sliver of hatred, but was quickly replaced with a gentle smile as another memory resurfaced.
"One day while roaming the town in the dead of night, a thunderstorm approached. Desperate to find shelter, he came across a different kind of light. A light so powerful, its source did not seem to mind sharing it with everyone they met." His eyes dilated a bit as he turned to face you, seeing you hold onto his lantern with extra care, making sure not to block its light. You didn't even notice your own lovestruck smile until he smiled back. "That light was a generous and kind mortal human, who offered him their home to shield him from the cold and damp. They even offered him silent comfort from the sounds outside as lightning continued to strike."
The shadows now depicted a human holding their hands over the warrior's ears, making both gaze at one another in close proximity. Then it switched to a scene with both holding hands while looking at what could only be described as sunrise.
"As the storm faded into the night, so did the moon. The sun started to awaken as its rays made the warrior realize that this human was his new source of light. And yet he told himself he had to leave, for he did not feel worthy of their compassion." The shadow of the warrior let go of the light's hands, but then was quickly stopped by the light refusing to let go of one hand, lightly tugging him back towards them.
"However, the light proved him otherwise. They did not agree with his mindset and instead asked him to stay longer." The human now pulled the warrior closer to them before giving him a hug. Macaque couldn't help but let out a little chuckle as he recalled the memory. "And eventually, the warrior seemed to have been put under a spell so strong it sent him into a spiraling trance. One that would bind him to the light for the future to come." Your husband then slightly leaned closer in your direction with his signature grin. "It was a spell of love."
The scene shifted once more to show both of them kissing while sitting on a bench under a tree, one familiar one you recognized with ease. "Over the coming months, their love for one another grew, and so did the shadow's courage to propose marriage to his beloved light. He came up with a plan to meet up under the tree's branches once again, and he expressed his devotion to the loving light of his life..."
Suddenly, the lantern became dimmer by the second as he approached your now blushing form with his arms crossed, clearly hearing your heartbeat. "I believe you already know how this story ends."
And as the lantern's light faded away, you launched yourself forward to capture him in your embrace, giving him a passionate kiss on the lips. You were still holding onto the lantern with one hand behind his back. He wrapped his arms around you in return and leaned more into you. Once you pulled away for air, you gave him a bright smile as a few tears formed in your eyes from the joy you felt. Despite the dark that surrounded you two, the simian was able to see your happy response to his small, private play. Macaque knew how to pick his words far too well.
"You dork... I love you, Mac", your mumbled voice said as you nuzzled your face into his chest. His lips made contact with the top of your head as he pulled you closer to him, letting out what sounded like a low purr.
"I love you too, sugarplum."

The Rookie 5x22 Thoughts
Spoilers for The Rookie 5x22 below. If you've watched the episode or don't care about spoilers, please enjoy!
Tumblr media
^ Me during this entire episode.
This was easily one of the best finales that I've seen. The only other shows that I've watched have managed to make feel this worried and anxious for the characters during a finale were Agents of Shield and Criminal Minds.
I've been excited for this episode ever since last week when they showed the promo and they exceeded my expectations for this episode. I was on the edge my seat the entire time.
Can I just say how heartbreaking the cold open was. Seeing Celina and Aaron just bonding and talking about DnD was cute and wholesome. Even though I sort of knew what was going to happen I wasn't prepared for how much it would hurt to actually see it. Seeing Celina cover Aaron's body with her own in an attempt to stop the bleeding was so emotional. Lisseth honestly did a great job in the scenes she was in and just portraying the grief and the guilt over what happened.
Everything from Celina fighting to give Nolan the riddle and then staying by Aaron's side as soon as he got out of surgery and trying to encourage him to wake by using DnD metaphors was extremely compelling to watch. Celina was desperate to help in any way possible and I felt like I was just right there next to her during those scenes.
Aaron flatlining at the end leaving him in limbo until the next season will probably be something that just continuously reruns in my head for the next few months until I know he's okay.
______________________________________________________________
When Leah was taken from Nyla and James my heart dropped. I couldn't breathe for a moment, when they found Leah by the tree I was so relieved. For a moment I thought that the Rookie was about go down a really dark path, but I'm glad that they didn't. I don't think my heart would have been able to take it.
_____________________________________________________________
I really enjoyed seeing the Luna, Wesley, and Angela team up tonight. It was a lot of fun and interesting to see the three characters together. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that we've ever seen three of them interact with each other at the same time and it was really great to see them all working with each other.
Angela really doesn't know what a break or vacation is does she? She's really over here trying to postpone giving birth in order to solve a case. Can't blame her though considering she managed to succeed with some help. Once everything calms down I would really like to see a chill episode where Angela, Nyla, and Luna all hang out together, enjoy some wine, (and maybe end up solving a case together.)
______________________________________________________________
The fights in this episode were amazing. John and Bailey's fight at their house was so freaking good. At first I was worried that they would make it so that they would just breeze right through the fight and not take any damage, but man I was wrong. I actually felt like John and Bailey were in real danger and that for once they might not make it out alright. It was a really solid fight scene.
And then of course Tim and Lucy's fight scene. Yeah, I will absolutely be going back to watch that over and over again. I for sure thought one of them was going to end being out for the count. They really fought like a dozen people and managed to make it out alive without getting any major injuries. There are just so many things that I can talk about in this scene. Lucy grabbing the shield and pushing the man down the stairs. Tim with the two batons and beating the crap out of people. Lucy throwing someone over the stairs. Tim ushering Lucy to safety.
Everything was just so good, I can't wait to see season 6 and how everything ends up playing out.
______________________________________________________________
Side notes: The Rookie writers are really good with call backs and there were quite a few of them tonight. Aaron getting shot in the back just like Jackson. And us being able to see Wade's reaction to Aaron being shot and how Jackson's death and Aaron's life hanging in the balance are effecting him.
Tim and Lucy's hug was probably a call back to the first time they hugged at Tim's place after Jackson's death. And then Tim saying 'you know me so well.'
(Also can we talk about that hug and the little kiss that Tim placed on Lucy's head. It was so cute and short reprieve from the rest of the insanity going on.)
Overall, I really enjoyed the more thriller/horror vibes of this episode. I wonder if the Rookie will end up doing more episodes like this in the future or if this is just a one-off. With how dark and serious this episode was I wouldn't be surprised that if the storyline ends up being one that lasts for a significant portion of the next season that The Rookie will end up leaning more towards its drama side than its comedy side for next season. At least for a couple of episodes where this storyline is at the forefront. But we'll just have to wait and see.
______________________________________________________________
Anyways that's it for now hope you enjoyed. If you want come chat with me in the comments about anything The Rookie related.
Until next time have a good day or night!✌🏾

Series 37 Episode 38 review
- Episode was very different, loved the setup and interjections/narrations from NHS workers
- Iain with HEMMS is always a slay,
- Stevie looking gorge, as per. Eyeliner really slaying. However, I think she's anxious about something, they kept zooming in/focussing on her rubbing her neck/shoulder, and she looked exhausted all episode. Almost half broken mentally, not like normal sympathy and upset at patient dying, but genuinely broken. I think she was about to cry at one moment and that really shocked me, please someone back me up at how not ok Stevie seemed to be last night.
- No reference to last week's EP at all, bar Max not being in it (I think maybe Dylan referenced it very briefly but I might be wrong). I thought very strange as surely Jodie would be upset more.
- ED very busy, lovely highlighting in that EP as to how hospitals normally are now.
- The guy filming when HEMMS arrived at the scene was wholly inappropriate, but again too normalised
- Cam being anxious, please let him grow as a character because he stood up to Ryan last week!!!!
- Donna is being a great guide to the younger nurses (notably Cam and Jodie) this episode, loving it!
- Jodie and Stevie friendship need to see more of, they are such cuties really!
- Jodie getting smacked in the face wasn't expected
- I didn't like that Rob dude, the one that operated on the patient, he was a bit of a prat and he ground my gears
- "Cam, go move your butt and get one" - Stevie. I don't need to say anything else
- Iain promised his famous brew. Thank you Casualty for consistency!!!! Even if it is only Iain's tea making skills
- The patients wife was lovely, and I felt so bad for her, especially as she was pregnant
- Dorothy. Such a sweetheart. Love her.
- RYAN WAS ACTUALLY NICEEEEEE! We love that. Slight redemption in my eyes! Him getting Dorothy's family down because it was meant to be her birthday and she was meant to be travelling to Manchester to see her son, and getting everyone to sing happy birthday to her was adorable and it was soooooo wholesome. Love it.
- Stevie's a sweetheart really. I have no clue what I meant by that.*
- Was the team operating on that patient one from Holby City? Was Eli in Holby because I recognise the name but am not sure as I never got fully into Holby before it got cancelled
- Stevie and Dylan slay as a duo and we need more of this, along with more Dylan and Donna and Jodie and Stevie.
- Also, absolutely no mention of the Sah/Paige kiss this ep. Very confused because, like, very big moment, why no mention?
- I think it's because it was a 75th anniversary special for the NHS they tried to avoid too many regular storylines, but I have no clue.
*To make this, I used the spam I sent to my friend as the show was happening, so some of my notes I have no clue what happened in the ep to trigger that response.
This is a learning process these next few weeks as to how I set out the weekly opinions, so please be patient and/or give feedback
Stevie is a fave right now, so there is very likely to be heavy Stevie analysis. Enjoy!

Thinkin about the POTS episode I had at a weed shop once like 5 years ago (well before I knew i had it. I thought i was just dehydrated) in which I passed out in the arms of the cute desk clerk who actually happened to also be an EMT and he knew I was passing out well before I did.
I remember sweating and being embarrassed because of how bad I was struggling to get my sweater off, couldn't stand straight, I was slurring my words and not fully understanding him. Last thing I remember was him deadass leaping over the desk after asking me if I needed to sit down (really hot of him). I'm quite sure he caught me because when I fall I definitely feel it later
It's a super humiliating disability to have but he definitely knew how to make it easier and feel less awful. I was halfway through my sweater when I went down but it was folded next to me and he was holding a cup of water for me until I came to. He was really wholesome and just left the desk and sat with me, tried to make me feel normal about it and distract me from people's wandering eyes and was just really chill. I don't think I was out for more than a few seconds but I definitely would've eaten shit if anyone else was helping me check out. Most people would not in fact jump over the counter to make sure a guy they don't know didn't crack his head open. But he's probably seen horrible things happen to people who didn't have someone there to catch them
I hope he's doing well, I was way too out of it to remember his name but I remember him being really chill and funny, being lighthearted about it to cheer me up. I'd smoke a bowl with him idk. He seemed like such a genuinely good person, didn't go back to his shift until he was sure I'd be okay and even then told me to take my time and call him over if I needed anything (dispensaries are often very particular making sure you're in and out and control the amount of people in there at once). Told me how I should breathe, how I should sit, and it's stuff I do when I have POTS episodes to this day

❤️ The Animated Misadventures Of Chucky And Andy (CONCEPT) ❤️
🎉 Friends till the end! 🎉
I have been way too obsessed with this AU y’all. While I was drunk on water, I was thinking about that, “If there was a movie or TV show where Chucky and Andy were friends, I would definitely watch it” comment I made in my Child’s Play AU post, and being me, I felt like making that a reality… sorta.
I’ve been making tons of sketches of a hypothetical TV show based on my whole AU, and yesterday, I decided to draw this goofy ahh little mock-up of what it would look like if it actually became a cartoon. And oh boy, do I have so many ideas for this that I so desperately wanna share :]
So since Chucky ain’t a murderer in this, it’s a (slightly) more wholesome take on the series, but that doesn’t mean that I’m gonna water it down, make it more saccharine or kiddify it. There would be some crude humor, dark jokes/black comedy, and lots of strong language, mostly coming from ol’ Charles himself, since he is also iconic for his very “colorful” language. Basically, it would be an adult cartoon in the same vein as other shows like South Park or Rick and Morty, but a bit more toned down.
So while there’s no extreme violence, I’d still think the series would probably be rated TV-14, along with a DL warning for suggestive dialogue and coarse and/or crude language. As for which channel the series would possibly air on, I’m thinking that it would most likely be on SYFY, or maybe Adult Swim.
Now for the plot! The whole plot is basically the whole, “lonely and eccentric young kid finds a magical/supernatural creature or thing and becomes friends with it” type plot. Think Lilo and Stitch, or Ponyo, but instead of an alien or a goldfish, it’s a talking doll. And as I’ve mentioned in my Child’s Play AU post, the events that would happen in the show would be similar to that of a slice-of-life anime like Azumanga Daioh, or literally any sitcom you can think of.
Chucky tries doing something unhinged and outlandish, often dragging and coercing Andy into his shenanigans, but the both of them would get caught in 4k by Karen.
Here’s a little summary of what the premise would be;
“Young Andy Barclay’s life changes forever once he gets a Good Guy doll as a present from his mother. Little did the both of them know that this doll is a little more special than the others. Join him and his foul-mouthed sentient Good Guy doll, Chucky in wacky hijinks in this fun and irreverent slice-of-life comedy!”
In the show, the only people who would know about Chucky’s coming-to-life gimmick would be Andy and Karen (of course), and a few of Andy’s classmates, since there would be some episodes where he would sneak him into school to show his classmates, and um… you can imagine how it would go down lol
Actually, at the time of writing this, I thought up this super cursed scenario where Andy brings Chucky for show and tell, and some other girl brings a Barbie doll, and Chucky starts flirting with it. Jesus H. Christ, I can’t unsee it 💀
Since this does take place in the late 80s (specifically 1988), there would, of course, there would be things like MTV, big poofy hair, neon clothing, aerobic videos, etc. I absolutely adore anything 80s-related, so you know I’m definitely gonna go hard with the retro aesthetic for this show. There would be episodes where Andy and Chucky are hanging out at the local arcade, and just them playing NES games at home.
And last but certainly not least, there’s the voice actors. Obviously, I’m gonna keep Brad Doriff as Chucky, because mans is absolutely iconic. Though I’m not really sure who the hell would voice Andy or Karen. I do kind of imagine Karen being voiced by Dorothy Elias-Fahn or Tara Platt, but what would be your suggestions?
❤️ 🎉 ❤️

since mr gaiman said we could maybe write our notes as we watch each episode i’m going to start doing that because i need to understand what happened the whole season LMAO im so distracted by ep*s*d* s*x
Episode 1 – The Arrival
The thing Crowley is holding looks like the thing he used to stop time
His hair is GORGEOUS
He’s so bubbly and wholesome
Aziraphale didn’t know he was helping to make the stars
This is why Crowley wanted so badly to go to the stars with Aziraphale last season
Crowley sort of refers to Aziraphale as kind of below him? Like rank-wise (note Aziraphale is a cherub?)
Aziraphale looked so hopeful introducing himself to Crowley then he doesn’t even tell him his name LMAO
HIS EXCITED SQUEAL
Is this how he wanted to watch the world go in season 1? From space with Aziraphale?
Not aziraphale thinking Crowley was referring to him with the “look at you, you’re gorgeous”
“and I think you’ve done an excellent job” shoot me now
So this is what Crowley is like with a will to live (JOKING)
“stars everywhere” didn’t he say that in the “what are they putting in bananas these days”
Help the music sliding down when aziraphale breaks the news I didn’t notice that before
Crowley’s face
‘call it a nebula’ HE’S SO PROUD OF IT
‘if I was the one running it all’ *immediately looks around nervously*
‘how much trouble can I get into just for asking a few questions’ honey you’ve got a big storm coming
THE STARS RAINING AND THE WING AHHHHHH
Love David tennant getting his name before Michael sheen in the credits
We didn’t see the blimps or raining rabbits in this season – s3?
Switched little sign thingies
THE SIGN CROWLEY WROTE ABOUT CLOSING TIMES AHH
“hello Maggie” HIS VOICE IS SO GENTLE
“what if I were to take these Shostakovich records without paying for him” HE SAYS IT SO MISCHIEVIOUSLY
Also I love some of shostakovich’s pieces
“I’m very good at forgiveness, it’s one of my favourite things” PARALLEL TO “I FORGIVE YOU” RAHHH
I like how you can see crowleys eyes behind his sunglasses
“frozen peas” he’s not letting down his man aziraphale
She has her order memorized AHRIOAA
Head empty no thoughts goob intro
HELP ME THE BARE HUG SQUEEZE I WOULD RATHER DIE
STOP LOOKING UP AND DOWN AZIRAPHALE

I had vacation and tooth surgery and thus a lot of time to be lazy! <3 A chunk of it I spent listening to the narrations of some creepypasta series. Though, honestly, I'm not sure they can be called that? They're more episodic paranormal stories. Yes, there's monsters running around and dangerous, maybe scary stuff going on, but they're also incredibly wholesome and soo sweet and very queer! So if you're into that, go look for the stories written by @02321 on r/nosleep and Youtube! My Name's Skyler, I'm a Freelance P.I. narrated by Baron Landred (the title on r/nosleep is I Work as a P.I and a Government Agent approached me to help with a case) and I Deliver Mail to Cryptids narrated by Animas. (And also a bunch of stories more set in the same universe of the Silver King.)
Now back to our regular books! We have 4 princes, 2 kings and 1 queen this month!
Banshee Blues (Nina Blazon): I'm in the editing process of my latest novel, which I'm writing in German, so I felt I should read a German, non-translated book for once. This was the only one in my pile but it is from my favourite German author, so all was well. I have a lot to thank her for. The first novel read from her was Der Dunkle Kuss der Sterne (The Stars' Dark Kiss) and that was the first time I liked first-person viewpoint! Her next book had split POV and different tenses and I had to admit it was done well. Banshee Blues was not quite up to par with her previous works but it went a few new directions than usual which was nice as well. It tried very hard to lead you astray with what's going on and who is evil and who isn't. And while I liked how things turned out between the two leads it would have been monumental to have them stay platonic.
The Fallen King's Penitent Soldier (Tales of the High Court 5) (Megan Derr): Sigh, it's been a ride. I had a good time with the whole series. I love the worldbuilding, really. But it is alright to end it here, while it's still good, you know. In a way, these five stories are all built very similar: Being kidnapped by bad guys, running from the bad guys or running after the bad guys for the first half and afterwards waiting to let other people sort it out. There's probably a limited amount of iterations you can go through while still be interesting. But for these five volumes it was fun! As for book 5 by itself, I think it's a good thing it comes so late in the series. Because it really takes its time. There's a lot introspection going on for the two protagonists which is okay because they go through a lot but it's also very long and sometimes not much else happens. I liked the two of them, I liked how religion was handled, I liked how it went full circle back to Allen's story. I liked the series. Good times. :)
Prince & Knight (Daniel Haack & Stevie Lewis): I wanted this for the pretty pictures. But apparently the universe didn't want me to? I ordered this last year already, but the package went on an odyssee through several cities without ever arriving at my home. I ordered it again this year and … the same thing happened?! 8D The odyssee was shorter this time, mind you, but … why again?! I tried a third time and ordered it for pick up at a local bookstore and that finally worked. Geez! It's a children's picture book so the story is as basic as it goes. Is it goo for children? I wouldn't know. The dragon doesn't die and it's very sweet and very pretty.
In all seinen Farben (Boy Queen) (George Lester): I had some exhausting weeks at work and thought I could use something inspirational. Something about finding your own way and shine. Which happens in this book but there's also a lot of drama going on and I was not prepared for the rock-bottom-hit in the beginning. xD I mean, it was written in the blurb but I've owned the book for a year why should I reread the blurb … I know nothing about drag or make-up or anything in that direction (I did watch like 15 minutes of the drag show at Comic Con Stuttgart last year but that hardly counts), so it was charming and interesting to read about.
We Could Be so Good (Cat Sebastian): I have to apologise to everyone on the waitlist for this at my library because I could have read it faster but … once I realised what sort of direction the 70% drama might take I had a tough time reading on. They were so happy and it was nice and I just did not want to suffer! I did assume, since the book goes out of its way to address how all queer books published during the mid of the last century would have to end badly (and the protagonist outright refusing to read them therefore), it would probably take a turn for a happy ending. That was the only hope that kept me going. If I had known any of the author's other work I maybe wouldn't have worried so much, because it's written in her bio already that she'll only write happy endings?! Well … So for anyone else fearing the drama of a book set in 1959: No queer person was harmed in this book! (Nothing major anyway.) I like the book, though! Enjoyed reading it. Nick and Andy are both sweet. But that fear did something to me, took me a while to recover. :'D
Prince & Assasssin (Perilous Courts 1) (Tavia Lark): I needed something simple for my fragile heart and it seems gay fantasy is my comfort read now in the same way my mom reads stuff named like "The Little Bakery at XYZ Street". And what should I tell you, yeah, there're men who are tenderly and not so tenderly intimate with each other, yeah yeah, but there's also giant talking cats! Giant talking cats! Also, I really like the author's writing style. It's so smooth! I started reading and didn't want to put it down anymore because it read so smoothly! The book itself was so much better than I had expected (which was basically nothing). It won't blow you off your feet but it's pretty enjoyable and surprisingly wholesome. Also the worldbuilding felt just right. I'm looking forward to reading the next volumes soon!
King of Immortal Tithe (Darkmourn 2) (Ben Alderson): Did I buy the expensive hardcover just because I like the illustration more than the one of the paperback? Why hello, that's me. So this is the second fae book I read this year. It's apparently a universal truth now that fae men are the most beautiful and well endowed beings on earth and beyond. Not that I mind, you do you, but why does fae anatomy work the same as humans' actually? Anyway, this is a stand-alone in a series of stories all set within the same universe. I like that concept. Hunting for pieces of lore is fun. Arlo is a feisty character so following him was enjoyable. The switch from enemy to lovers was kinda sudden like … I can see why but personally it still felt sudden. Also Faenir calling Arlo constantly Darling was not my taste but you know, if it's just that, I can overlook it. The twist at the end had me barking out evil laughter (which means approval). I did hold back reading the final chapter until I read the first volume as not to spoil any more! (While they are stand-alones the previous story is referenced in this one.)
Lord of Eternal Night (Darkmourn 1) (Ben Alderson): "He was so tall and his hands were so large and his length was so great and so thick my fingers couldn't touch reaching around it. He was not just a man, he was a god!" I laughed. That's not a literal quote, but a good summary. Yeah. I laughed. And while praising one guy he was also dissing his former lover, the baker's son, for not being as large. Not the poor lad's fault, no need to get mean! Should have known at that point already who was the true evil mastermind. :'P. But in all fairness, there is a little more going on in the story. And well, these books know very well what kind of fantasy they're catering. There's a short guy, a little crafty and feisty, not too weak, and the very tall, very beautiful guy who everyone says is evil, but turns out he isn't so evil, he just has a tragic past, he also falls very hard for the protagonist and oops, maybe he does have some capacity for evil. I did like how the story subverted who's good and who's bad like three times. Otherwise, it's not really complex. But I'm kinda into the ending.
Alpha of Mortal Flesh (Darkmourn 3) (Ben Alderson): The third installment in the series, they've been getting more elaborate with each volume. So instead of the 2 and 3 half characters we had in the first one, there's actually a whole cast in here with motivations and backstories. That was nice. The writing style, however, is still as … trying as hard as in the beginning. It's not bad, mind you, I commend it for trying to use the full range of the English language, but there's a lot of words, making everything longer than needed, and sometimes their choice is really weird. Example: "My tongue broke free. It slithered from the confines of my mouth." But it's just a normal human tongue licking something eagerly yet still very normally! And, they're indie books, yeah, but I do wish all three books would have gone through another round of editing. The unnecessary repetitions and errors made me suffer a little. And while I got a little bored and impatient at the end I do like the story and what it's trying to do. Just that it was trying too hard in some aspects of the writing and not hard enough in others.
That's it for July! Apparently, August will be library month again. My TBR bookshelf disapproves but duh. Let's go and have fun. :P

If the Animaniacs reboot ever made a 4th season, I’d just have zero expectations for the siblings to have at least a few wholesome moments towards each other, and that the mean commentary from the season 3 episode that shall not be named will continue.
I dunno. Does that sound too mean?
I think it's always possible for them to make some tweaks and improve the writing in the future. Although I completely understand how you feel, and have felt the same myself at times, I won't count out an entire team of creative people forever just because they wrote some lines I didn't like on a few occasions.
I thought the first two seasons of the reboot were fairly balanced with wholesome sibling moments compared to sibling teasing, and I'm not really sure what happened with season 3. It was mostly the same writers as the first two seasons, but something just felt off in how the siblings interacted most of the time. There were still a few wholesome moments, like in episode 10 and episode 6, and even episode 8, though it was overshadowed by other things. I think the writers would hopefully look at it with fresh eyes and tweak the balance a bit to make it feel better. It might be irrelevant to talk about the original reboot writers at all- now that the reboot has ended, at least for now, most of the writing team will probably move on to other projects and may not even be available to come back if there was to be a season 4.
At the moment, I have zero expectations that a season 4 will happen at all, so I think that's the hurdle we should focus on overcoming first. My one wish at the moment is that we can get one last Animaniacs movie, with the involvement of Tom Ruegger at least as a producer, that will wrap everything up with a nice ending for the characters. That would make me feel a lot better about things.

Custom Toonami Block Week 152 Rundown
Spy X Family: After the foreshadowing last week we introduce Fiona properly and the r34 kinda spoiled this one for me because the joke is supposed to be that she wants in on the big operation and she’s seen as a glory hound but it’s really that she likes Loid and is pissy about not being picked to be his wife the one time he needs a fake marriage. I don’t know if I’d have figured it out before the punchline but it’s still pretty funny to watch Anya read her mind and hear here thoughts SCREAM about how much she loves him while she’s wearing a stoic face. She picks at Yor’s insecurities about her home ec skills and tries to not so subtly talk to Loid in code about how Yor isn’t a good fit for the mission despite everyone telling her him suddenly getting a new wife out of nowhere would be massively sus, like we just saw Fiona vent. Also Anya gets some really good moments of propping Yor up and affirming her love for her when she finds out Fiona wants to go Tiger Mom on her and I really wish Anya got more of this instead of ‘she’s bad at everything but it’s okay because she’s cute’ like it’s way more interesting to see her leverage her unique advantage from mind-reading in her own limited way than just kinda bungle through things. Still the episode does a good job of making Fiona’s feelings sympathetic without putting her in the right, like it’d be a problem if we thought she was a heartless witch or if she really was better than Yor for the mission but neither of those happen and she’s able to see Loid has genuine affection for his new family and for now is willing to step back a bit, though she decides on the new mission she has with Loid that she’ll try again. Also the whole ass end credits play before the B-plot kicks in so idk but it’s a cute little vignette about Bond ripping up Anya’s stuffed animal and them making up after a spat, it’s pretty cute and shit.
Inuyasha: More Kohaku action this time and he is forced to kill all the castle guards and steal The Baby back before Sango comes by and is like ‘shit, not again bro’ and he’s conscious for it the whole time and actively crying about it. Meanwhile Abi’s fighting Inuyasha still and is just like ‘oh shit guess it was a normal human castle, oh well god my blood, gonna peace out’. Kohaku suddenly remembers that Sango is his sister and that he killed his parents, getting over the memory block he’s had for half the series and getting past his grief by deciding to take his chance to try and kill Naraku to atone. Sango’s back to mulling over her options because even if she gets Kohaku back there’s no telling if Naraku will still be able to control him or if he’ll even want to live (spoiler, rn he doesn’t) so she decides agaian to try and kill him herself despite deciding that was a bad idea the past few times at the last second but she runs into some of the villagers Kohaku saved and takes solace in the fact there’s still some good in his heart. Both Inuyasha and Kagura’s group come to the same conclusion around the same time that the Baby is Naraku’s heart that was split from Hakudoshi. Miroku and Sango have a nice wholesome moment where he deliberately doesn’t undercut it with a fondling joke Naraku also dispels the barrier around Abi’s nest which Abi didn’t even know was there until her mom pointed it out but yeah now Inuyasha will be able to sniff her out and come get her but Kikyo sends her little cherubs out to warn him it’s probably a trap.
Yu Yu Hakusho: This one’s all about Hiei’s backstory, in a nutshell Hiei’s tribe are like the Gerudo and he’s the Ganondorf of the bunch except instead of making him king they murder him as a baby and slutshame his mom. Apparently Hiei’s just that badass that he was born with full consciousness like Ray from Promised Neverland and he grew up wanting to burn down his hometown which is hard because they’re a bunch of floating ice nomads but both Yukina and his mom’s friend Rui are on board for Plan Hiei Revenge Genocide Mk3 because throwing anyone with testicles off a cliff is not exactly a stable form of government. Hiei’s also looking for his birthright, the jewel of his mother’s tear from when he was born and now carries the same from Yukina, this is a lot of sidequests for Hiei in the last like ten episodes but we’ve got some character building to do I guess. Meanwhile Mukuro has set 500 A-class demons on Hiei and considering Hiei himself is supposed to be an A-class at this point I’m really starting to think the letters don’t mean a damn thing or every time they throw them around to sound important they really mean ‘bottom of this class so we can kinda sound tough’ like theoretically every demon on that list should be stronger than Toguro and somehow I’m not seeing ‘lizard guy with a mace’ as beating Toguro. Either way it’s been six months of Hiei carving his way through nominally strong guys and getting about as much sleep as I did in college and Mukuro’s like ‘okay for real this time just one more strong dude and we’re done and you can be in my inner circle’. Turns out it’s the doctor that gave Hiei the Jigan eye because that’s the only other thing we’ve fleshed out about him at this point and he needs to be haunted by all his demons at once damnit. Like it just feels kinda weird to retcon that Hiei actively made himself weaker when he got the surgery for all the eye has done for him over the course of the series (pretty much jack shit) and then also half-retcon that the doctor told him to not tell Yukina he was her brother because he just gets off on that I guess, no idea how you run a demon back alley doctor’s office on monkey’s paw promises but sure, like Hiei mentions he wouldn’t have told her anyway but it seems like a weird thing to throw in like we’re trying to explain why Hiei was only every exactly as strong as he needed to be to look cool at any given time but it translates his growth into recovery meaning all the power of friendship and relying on others has done for him all series is sorta slightly helped him get back to where he was without it a little faster.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Now we get the Oceans 11 montage of how Mahito pulled off the Finger Heist (also a few other cursed thingies that will probably be important later) basically long story short they keep the fingers in a dimensional maze and Mahito spiritually peed on the finger they confiscated from him so he could smell his spiritual pee to find the right door and sneak into the vault and take all the fingers. So I guess that takes the ‘why don’t we just jam fingers into Yuji till he’s strong enough?’ question off the table, and also like several people are dead and Coatrack guy is just talking about coatracks so he isn’t much help. Still Todo brings up a good point that being all sullen won’t help anyone and pretending they care so much about faceless mooks they didn’t know is hypocritical so we get to the real meet of the collab event: baseball… wait, baseball? Yeah apparently Gojo sensed we needed a filler episode so he slipped baseball into the Goblet of Fire which results in me getting to see Nobara in a baseball uniform which is one of my secret fetishes so I am literally game. It’s a fun little wrapup though like just kinda putting a cap on the relationships that came to a head during the arc, getting some really funny jokes in and alleviating the sense of anti-climax that happens whenever bad guys jump into one of these Chunin Exam arcs like the people who really wanted to see the end of Sasuke vs Gaara. But yeah, Tokyo wins at the end of the day and it’s kind of ironic that The Boondocks kickball episode had more anime bullshit than an actual bullshit anime baseball episode like for the most part everyone’s just playing fair.
Zom 100: Akira’s still in his zombified state under Neo Capitalism but luckily the series is smart enough to not beat us over the head with that for the whole episode so we get the theme by proxy by finally getting Shizuka’s backstory. Her dad was… uhhh Gozaburo Kaiba I think, but yeah he’s the one that put the ideas of success by any measure, to the point where he even said her marrying wasn’t necessary (idk bro seemed like he did it at some point unless he reproduced asexually) and yeah he also killed her puppy because if you thought the adorable puppy was gonna survive the backstory this must be your first anime backstory. But yeah they make it very clear that the balance between ‘need’ and ‘want’ is the theme of the episode and the whole series really. Shizuka finds the bucket list and surprisingly Akira’s boss is willing to let her and Tencho go while gaslighting Akira into staying which is actually more decent than I thought he’d be like given he’s basically eyehumping Shizuka I thought for sure he’d be like ‘nah everyone stays’ given there’s no logic to his leadership anyway and if this was the Walking Dead this guy would have a broken bottle in his neck like a week ago. But yeah Shizuka gives Akira back the list and inspires him to be like ‘yeah thanks for everything but we’re going now and if that’s not good enough for you kindly fuck off, thanks.’ And of course as a climax the truck stop gets a zombie outbreak that Akira gets to sort out and save his boss’s life while demolishing any respect anyone had for his leadership ability and everyone gets to get the fuck out of dodge while Shizuka gets to give a good speech about enjoying the moment to show off her character development so that’s cool. I think her switch happened a little fast but I also kinda like that the way they pull her out of her mindset is by watching someone else make the same mistakes since you’re more likely to give someone else good advice than take it from yourself because psychology is a bitch.
Ranking of Kings: The time has finally come for the final battle, Bosse!Daida vs Bojji! Bosse gives Miranjo his apologize and then an ultimatum to everyone else, swear loyalty to him under his real name or die for the sake of Daida’s kingdom he had for like three days. Everyone reflects on their tragic backstories and the love they’ve shared and watched as Bojji’s grown and unanimously decide to stand by his side and reclaim the real Daida. It’s really cool how when Bojji looks around at them he sees the weakest parts of each of the Big Four, Sword Guy’s mechanical hand, Shield Guy’s missing foot, Spear Guy’s trembling knees from his torn loyalty, and he reflects on the tenderest parts of each of them as they fought for what they loved and decides he’s gonna fight Bosse solo. Everyone’s kind of nervous but Bojji FUCKING OWNS Bosse!Daida, bro can’t even TOUCH Bojji as he’s Attack on Titaning around and busting up his weapon and disabling his body he doesn’t even land a fucking hit on Bojji bro, eventually Bosse has to admit defeat and tries to smash Miranjo but Bojji’s able to stop him so they can reflect on what has to be done properly. Apparently the only way to get Daida back is to kill Miranjo which I don’t really understand since the Dad Shake she had Daida drink didn’t really have any direct link to her but I guess it’s more dramatic. Also there’s a plot about the demon also having the key to fixing Ouken but we don’t get any more on that just yet. But yeah, Bojji promises to save Miranjo from the demon and breaks her mirror, sending her and Bosse’s souls free but her’s is dragged into the demon’s stomach to be tortured by the demon’s stomach demons for all eternity.
Vinland Saga: We find out that Leif’s been making as much money as he can to buy and liberate as many slaves as possible but given that slaves are really expensive and all you have to do to get one is capture some dude he’s not really making a dent. Meanwhile he’s in York while Canute is making his entrance for the big meeting he’s gonna have with King Daddy when he gets shot. But aha! Askeladd’s pulled a beginning of Attack of the Clones on everyone and instead of effeminate Canute it’s slightly more effeminate big titty female slave Canute that took the crossbow arrow. Meanwhile Thorfinn tracks down the assassin and murders him in front of Leif with all the chance meeting grace of a high schooler falling on a titty. He begs Thorfinn to come back and see his dying mother but Thorfinn’s just like ‘yeah how’s that fairy tale world you told me about doin’ huh?’ still Leif says he’ll stay in town if he reconsiders. Now we get the full extent of Askeladd’s plan which is like five layers of ‘but he knows what I know that he knows what I know that he knows’ and essentially they wrapped up the king in the Chains of Commanding and make sleighting Canute a bad look while making Canute seem important and feeding his spy info that will make him complacent and put up a false sense of security. Now for the final scene we have a pretty cool deal of Thorfinn getting his duel with Askeladd again but meanwhile Thorfinn still has a broken fucking arm, now I have two theories as to why Thorfinn’s pushing for the fight right now (aside from just wanting to get it done because he’s a revenge-driven murder monkey). 1. He just saw Leif and is genuinely wanting to get the revenge out of his system so he can take Leif up on his offer and return with him under the false assumption that killing Askeladd will heal all the turmoil inside him. 2. Seeing Leif reminded him of how little progress he’s made in the past eleven years and he’s just an angry little pissbaby with the encounter refreshing the pain and memory of his father’s death that has at least dulled somewhat into a low heat of hatred in his heart. But either way Askeladd has some other shit to do first and Bjorn’s off his deathbad long enough to be killed by Askeladd’s hand, saying all he wanted was to be Askeladd’s friend even if it was a lie in the end. He did it not because he wanted to go to Valhalla because I’m pretty sure Valhalla still counts as long as you got the wound in battle even if you die days later, but because Askeladd was the ideal man to him and that’s how he wanted to die. Askeladd admits Bjorn was his only true friend, maybe sincerely, maybe just to put him at peace before he dies, but he puts his second in command to rest either way. Then he fucking turns to Thorfinn and basically goes ‘okay I got my adulting done, guess I have to deal with your petty childish bullshit now huh?’.

Well, thoughts about the finale Disclaimer: Through the whole series, I tried pointing first the things I liked and then mention things that were eh to me or I disliked nut in a soft tone, as a way to avoid spreading negativity and such. This is a warning, the salt is strong with this one.
Things I liked! The scene where Ezra rebuilds his lightsaber. Finally mentioning Kanan. I wish the lightsaber had been green like his last one but oh well
That shot of Anakin at the end watching over Ahsoka. More thoughts about this later, but Hayden was like, one of the few highlights of this series tbh Ezra arriving and meeting Hera again, a hug would have been nice, but oh well
Now, for the rest: This episode dragged, I swear I kept looking at the time left. And in the end, it was all for nothing. Yes, Ezra is back, but now Ahsoka and Sabine are in the middle of nowhere. And Thrawn is back too, so just a fucking mess.
No mention of Shin or Baylan until the very end with no dialogue scenes. The Father and the Son on Baylan's last scene? pure fanservice Also, Sabine learned no lesson, and now it's confirmed she's FS in the cheapest cliché they could have gone with. Also, you're telling me she can see FG Anakin now but not Ahsoka?
Speaking of Ahsoka, her speach about Anakin standing with her was nice and tied neatly and it was a callback to the wrong jedi arc but also, she's like what, 40? at this point in the story?? and Anakin (even with him being my fave) has tried to kill her, which I think undermines that statement tbh. I understand Filoni loves putting the Anakin & Ahsoka content and have them be wholesome but also, pls stop
I only watched Ahsoka to see Hayden back as Anakin. I tried my best to remain positive about it but it was, in the end, a pointless story with a plot that is paper thin at best. The pacing was all over the place, it made several characters that were loved and had a neat arc unlikable and the lackluster ending just gives you a feeling of "what was even the point?"
(and that's not even getting into the anti-Jedi comments Filoni dropped on different episodes. You can like Anakin as a character and be fair to the Jedi, see Obi-Wan Kenobi series) Unrelated bonus: I saw several people mentioning how they wished Ahsoka had mentioned Obi-Wan at one point, how he was her other master and wasn't a mass murderer like Anakin was. She was never that close to Obi-Wan. Most of her interactions with him were tied to Anakin. She got episodes with other Jedi masters in TCW but never with Obi-Wan. Her arc in Rebels and season 7 was more connected with Anakin/Vader and Rex than Obi-Wan. The Obi-Wan Kenobi series don't even have Obi-Wan thinking about her and now we get this series where the same happens. I think it's time to, at the very least, admit that the "her two masters" thing is mostly fanon.

Been thinking about Summer Strike and honestly I wish it had been a standard 16 episode drama.
As it stands, its a healing drama that takes an unexpectedly dark turn towards the end. One that suddenly involves plot points we saw bits of, but that weren't at the forefront of the show.
If summer strike had 16 episodes, that aspect of the story could have been established more so that the turn it took at the end could feel more like a culmination? climax? instead of a cheap attempt to increase ratings, which is genuinely what it felt like in the moment.
Like it's possible to have healing dramas with dark subplots. It's Okay to Not Be Okay and When the Camelia Blooms both involve (serial) killer subplots and take place in a small seaside town and are largely about human relationships and healing from trauma. None of it feels out of place. All the wholesome moments feel just as genuine and relevant to the story as the scenes with death or suffering or stress.
Even the most classic romcom dramas can have a little murder, as a treat. Touch Your Heart is a romcom about an actress and a lawyer and it has murder and it doesn't feel cheap. The male lead is a lawyer so he defends someone accused of murder, totally understandable. Hometown Cha Cha Cha is another romcom that also takes place in a small seaside town and that also has heavy scenes involving death/grief but the story gives those deaths the respect they deserve. Unlike in Summer Strike..
In Summer Strike it just felt like a way to add an unnecessarily dark, high stakes conflict to a really peaceful slice of life drama. It was like they realized there wasn't many episodes left so they added one large conflict to quickly wrap up everything together in a way that would increase ratings.
I tried reading the webtoon to compare but 60 chapters are left untranslated and I can't find the original korean version (on any free site) so I can only compare up to chapter 86/140. Compared to the drama, the webtoon is much more stressful and more dramatic, and it stays that way for many chapters of the story, so much so that the wholesome moments are a breath of relief for readers, so if that murder happens later, (again, don't know for sure) it's not so out of place in the comic's version of events. A lot of plot points and characters are different in the webtoon (Jiyoung's character is literally 1000× more insufferable in the comic, if you can believe) so they really didn't have to remain faithful to the comic in the one instance where it didn't fit the drama's version of the story. Lots of webtoon based dramas have different plots, details, and endings compared to the comics, so even though I tried to see if it was an excuse for the sudden tonal shift, I don't think it is. The drama version of the story is really different and I 100% prefer it. (Unrelated but the comic's art style is also kind of plain and hideous. Genuinely not trying to be mean but its hard to feel sympathy for a character drawn like a 2012 rage comic...)
The ending is just disappointing because I really love Summer Strike. I kind of want to just pretend the last few episodes don't exist because for the most part it is such a beautiful drama. I just wish they had chosen one story (peaceful drama) or the other (stressful webcomic) to do since they couldn't properly develop a story with aspects of both. I will give them credit though, for creating a drama so lovely that I thought there must be some horrible mistake when I first found the comic. Like they really didn't have much inspiration to work with aesthetics wise, all the gorgeous shots were created solely through the efforts of the drama staff.

Book Review: Eight Cousins by Louisa May Alcott
Recommended by @sailforvalinor as part of the 2023 Book Rec Exchange
Premise: Rose Campbell is a thirteen-year-old girl who has recently been orphaned after caring for her ailing father. Now she is being raised by a couple of great-aunts, but soon her care will be taken over by her uncle, a single man who has been working abroad. Because of a rift in the family, she has never met him nor the many aunts, uncles, and cousins she now finds herself in the midst of. Many adventures ensue as she spends her first year in this new, sometimes intimidating but ultimately wholesome, situation.
Thoughts: What a delightful read! I really wish this had been the book thrust upon me over and over again when I was a kid, instead of Little Women; I think I would have appreciated it much more at that age. Alas, instead I ended up with an unfairly poor impression of Louisa May Alcott, simply because little me was bored by the romance at the end of the March sisters' story ^^'
But in Eight Cousins, I immediately fell in love with every single character I encountered. Especially the cousins. I had much sympathy for Rose's apprehension when she learns that she's going to be spending a lot of time with her seven cousins who are all boys; I probably would have thought the same thing at that age. But all of them are so sweet and kind, not looking down on Rose because she's "just a girl," not excluding her in their games, but going out of their way to include her and respect her even when she's not inclined to go frolicking around like they do. I think my favorite cousin was Archie, because he's so sensible and respectful, a natural leader; it was easy to see why the others follow his example and look up to him so much. A close second was Jamie, who is six and utterly adorable, from the time they meet and he immediately asks for candy, to the part in the last chapter where he promises to wash his hands before he touches her if she'll just go and live with him X3
It wasn't just the cousins that I fell in love with, though. I instantly liked Phebe, the servant girl Rose befriends early on and decides to "adopt." It reminded me a lot of Sara and Becky in A Little Princess. And of course I loved Uncle Alec, Rose's guardian, right off. He's so interesting, with all of the things he's brought back from his travels and his unconventional approach to raising her and improving her health, but it's so clear to see that he's just brimming over with love for his little niece. An eccentric uncle who will brook no nonsense but give his charge everything she needs and more with a heart of true generosity? What's not to love?
The book is a simple read, almost episodic even, but I really enjoyed it. It's full of wholesome joy and delightful people living life together. There's no real antagonist and not much conflict beyond the ordinary ups and downs of life, but that doesn't diminish the story in any way. It brought me many laughs, lots of smiles, and even a few sweet tears. It gets my stamp of approval, and I look forward to reading the sequel to find out what happens next to all of these wonderful characters.

i haven’t done another one of these in literal months. it is January and the last I posted about things I completed was in November.
Mob Psycho 100 S3 -
my favorite show ever. I don’t even know what to say. i only got into mob like 2 years ago and im so glad i did. i sobbed at the ending. it was very bittersweet but i was so so happy for everyone. mob’s growth made me so so happy. genuinely just such a good show and i got my brother and my friend to watch mob too and they really enjoyed it. this is kind of a ridiculous statement to use in regards to a show but yknow, if i loved mob psycho less id be able to talk about it more. just so many emotions. the finale happened and one of my friends got several voice messages of me crying and just talking about it. i would really like to read the manga for it at some point, and i do plan to read the reigen spin-off as i do actually own it.
Cowboy Bebop -
I started watching this a few years ago and never finished so I thought I should finally come back to it, and it was worth it. It’s so good. The last few episodes made me sad. Just all the, lore episodes I guess, generally caused me a lot of pain. Ed and Ein leaving broke my heart. And honestly Faye’s backstory really got me. THE SONG THAT PLAYED DURING THAT PART TOO!!! SO GOOD. and don’t even get me started on Spike :( I did really like the cowboy episode though, the one with the YMCA or Young Men’s Cowboy Association. was a good episode, and the fridge lobster creature episode haunts me to this day.
Spy x Family - it’s just wholesome. always makes me laugh and is really a no thought head empty show and i enjoy that. i do keep up with the manga for this but it’s always nice to see it animated.
Chainsaw Man - obviously very positive thoughts about this one I love chainsaw man. Suffering from actual brain rot. the vibes are very different from the manga, it’s more cinematic ig but I do think it’s a great adaptation. The intro and all the outros are so good. Especially the Hayakawa family outro. I loved the voice actors. BEAM!!! His va is so good. I love just all the insane laughter from all the characters it brings me so much joy. I love chainsaw man !!!!
Vinland Saga - my brother is so into Vinland saga. And he has told me about it before. I thought I’d watch it because I knew a new season was coming out, and obviously he had hyped it up so much. And it was absolutely worth the hype. I binged like 16 episodes in a day and would have finished it in a day if I didn’t go see Puss in Boots ( which very good btw) It’s in my top 10 now, im not really one come up with a top 10 or anything. But if I had one Vinland Saga is definitely up there. I liked like all the characters. Thorfinn is great. Askeladd is so fucking cool. Canute and Thorkell phenomenal. Can’t believe thorfinn is so short too, like bro is minuscule im ngl. but anyways !!! Even like Bjorn I enjoyed. I was genuinely sad when he died. But anyways. I love Vinland saga too!!!
Kekkai Sensen/Blood Blockade Battlefront -
This wasn’t bad at all! Idk if I’ll watch the second season, but the first one wasn’t too bad. I did start watching it solely because of the outro, and yknow what the outro is really good and does make me very happy so I do stand by that decision. Was not expecting to hear Zoro’s VA in this so that was a pleasant surprise. Zapp overall was just a wild character, and he had a tiny ass waist like wtf was that all about. Anyways, was enjoyable overall.
Terror in Resonance - this show is so good. from what i can remember the music in it is good. There was a song I really liked but idk what it’s called unfortunately. It’s a good show to just binge. I liked it a lot. I cried at the end. I wasn’t expecting that to happen given like the premise of the show, I went into the show just thinking it was about terrorists, and to certain extent it is but also it’s more than that. Anyways, I guess I should’ve assumed things wouldn’t all be wonderful and happy by the end, but man… lots of really cool things within this show and overall just enjoyable though, so id definitely recommend!
currently watching - attack on Titan, one piece (im at thriller bark), buddy daddies, bungo stray dogs s4, and Vinland Saga S2

Whoa, this is amazing. I-i, they may have become my top pairing now (at least top three,) and I may, MAY have teared up as I read your response. (Also very emotional about this.) 🧡
Flour-covered Chuck in his little apron? Picnics on the mainland? LEARNING CZECH TO UNDERSTAND RADEK!?
Fuck yes!
Hmm… Chuck is learning Czech in secret, also as a surprise. Because the two of them do really love a good surprise. So Radek doesn’t know he can actually translate what has been engraved on it.
“Jsi láska mého života.”
Chuck is blown away by the translation, he doesn’t tell Radek though. Instead, Chuck mulls it over and a plan starts forming. He has to secretly put said plan into motion.
Radek notices Chuck being off and slightly twitchy, (cliche - *cough* that I love *cough*) but he starts to get worried about their relationship. Chuck has a terrible poker face after all so he tries to avoid Radek when possible. Rodney starts to get twitchy too. Radek, consumed by negative feelings can only assume the worst considering that two of his closest people are acting strange around him.
So when Rodney, flushed and fidgety asks Radek to follow him he feels terror grip his heart. He follows, preparing to accept any outcome of this interaction with grace.
He’s so wrapped up in these thoughts that he doesn’t notice Rodney is dressed a little bit fancy (fancy for him,) nor does he notice they are alone in such a heavy traffic hallway. So when the transporter door opens to the gate room and Chuck is there on one knee holding out a ring he is completely floored.
Radek is obviously the kind to cry in this type of situation, and he does, crying and yelling “Ano! Ano!” before lifting Chuck up and kissing him so hard as the entirety of Atlantis claps and cheers behind them. 😭😭
Elizabeth, of course, set up a whole feast for the occasion.
I hope we convert others to this pairing. Come on people, Chuck/ Radek fanfic let’s go!
Hmm… challenge name… Side ships maybe? No, idk.. Hm, um, hmm… We need a SGA community discussion for this.
I might have to bug sassycordy now because that headcanon is amazing and I wish to hear more. Hmm… I might not have time to though considering I wrote down 22 ship pairings last night to discuss with you over the following thousand years. 😳
I love solo-episodes, love background, give it all!! I need it all!!! At least we have fanfic.
Don't be sorry at all, we are very similar in this regard, I could rant about it forever, and I love hearing your perspective. 🧡
I remember that episode thoroughly, blah Kavenaugh, love to hate him lol
Ugh, yesssss! This, this soooo much. Forget Earth, Atlantica is where it's at (Coined by sweet bby Aiden and - denied by Sheppard but hey nobody else named it sooooo) they could have had way more Atlantis based episodes, especially if they expanded on characters that rarely leave.
Okay this is all canon now, this is what happened, nobody else can convince me otherwise.
I'm going to rewatch SGA just to make note of allies they might have, because I can only think of those kids and Athosians as well lol
Thank you for responding to my novels, I too am thoroughly enjoying myself. 🧡
Tumblr media
ship anon... please tell me you write fanfiction. please. I NEED IT. THIS IS SO PURE AND BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
I love how we went from "yeah i think they would be cute" to "they are getting married and all of Atlantis knows it before except Radek" in 24 hours... very cool of us.
I... don't really have anything to add that right now, I'm still trying to process the cuteness of this idea and the general wholesomeness of this ship.
i just checked ao3, there are 3 works which include the "radek zelenka/chuck" tag, so.... welcome to the rarepair corner! We're gonna make this everyone elses problem now! Let the Chuck/Radek agenda begin!!!
Seriously, I'm so glad you brought this to my attention <3 Atlantis did such a great job with introducing background characters (there are a few more I wish they had included more, e.g. Dr. Biro, Miko...) and they deserve all the love <3
you... you have 22 more ships to throw at me? LEMME SEE LEMME SEE LEMME SEE! (though it's gonna be hard to top this one o.0). I love your dedication, ship anon <3
honestly, i love your novels. I was at a friend's place earlier when i read this one and i was like hoooooly shit, i need to read this again when i get home so i can respond to it properly. Your mind is just <3
