wotseries posted an alleged elaida audition script about 1) her telling presumably leane that she's at the tower to look for elayne and also that siuan's in a big mess and she could use elaida's help in cleaning it up, and 2) her discussing prophetic powers with min.

the first scene is pretty standard with what we've been predicting for elaida and the white tower plotline in s3, so i don't have any commentary on that one for now (though it does imply that, indeed, we'll be setting up the coup to be a slowburn season-long event with elaida weaseling around for a while before making her big move, rather than a shock event that happens early in the season, but i think most of us were thinking this already anyway).

the second scene is interesting because a different leak had placed min in tanchico. wotup's leaks have been flagrantly incorrect before (said faile would be in s2) and wotseries' audition scripts have also been flagrantly incorrect before (said gawyn would be in s2), so at this point it's just a question of which source i distrust more, and i can't answer that haha so for the time being i'll treat both Min Locations as equally plausible. (i'm assuming it'll only be one or the other because i find it hard to imagine that she could make an appearance in both locations during the course of the season, but i suppose you never know.)

looking at where s2 left off, both are equally plausible. min is in cairhien, and both siuan & co and liandrin are also in cairhien. i could see siuan snatching min back to the white tower because she knows about her powers and wants to use them, and i could also see liandrin snatching min over to tanchico because she considers her a liability after min betrayed her/didn't follow through on the deal/figured out she's a darkfriend.

looking at min's established story in the show and where her story goes in future in the books (lmao at the statement that min has a story in the books), both are equally plausible. tanchico would put her back into contact with liandrin and mat to follow up on her story with them in s2 and set up for her future seanchan story with mat (and doubly so if there's a seanchan presence or even tuon herself in tanchico in s3). the white tower would return her to her book storyline and, based on this scene with elaida, potentially give her the opportunity to have a storyline exploring the nature of her powers and her relationship with them. either storyline would allow her to go on to cross paths with rand in the next season or two.

(edited to add that tanchico would also have min interacting with elayne to help set up the polycule. i've so thoroughly made the polycule rand/elayne/avi/mat in my mind that i kinda forgot min is the canonical fourth member when i was making this post djkfg)

i will say that in the books, the tower coup has absolutely 0 bearing on min's overall character/story because she has 0 stakes in any of that stuff and 0 connection to aes sedai. it makes for an interesting 1-book storyline for her, but it's never relevant to her again (vs. someone like gawyn who is dealing with the repercussions of the coup in his storyline for pretty much the rest of the series), and so for that reason i wouldn't be sorry to replace her book storyline with an invented tanchico storyline that might have more long-term relevance to her (re: seanchan stuff). however, if the show expands her white tower storyline to include an exploration of her powers, i'd love that because min actively struggling with and trying to navigate and learn more about and figure out how best to use her powers is something that should have been part of her current story rather than her pre-series backstory. and compare/contrasting with elaida and how SHE uses her prophetic abilities would be super interesting!

that being said, i will never again trust any wotseries audition scripts after the utter betrayal that was the gawyn one, so i'm taking this all with a grain of salt! every time they post a new one they're like "disclaimer that scenes could be invented just for auditions and won't appear in the actual show, but most of our past audition scripts have appeared in the show pretty close to the audition version" and i'm like "what about that time you misled me to believe a whole-ass boy would be present in s2 and then he wasn't???? is gawyngate a joke to you???" lmao i wish they'd be a bit more cautious with their audition script disclaimers bc *i* think they've been pretty hit or miss, not Usually Accurate (even the aviendha one, only 1 of 2 scenes made it into the show iirc).

I hate how some people after season 2 are just putting hate on Aziraphale. I mean, he in fact, left the Crowley, but he had his own reasons as well, didn't he? Aziraphale have a very compliceted relationship with heaven but he is in fact an angel and he want to belong there OAAAAAHHHHH—

Anyway, those kind of videos where people are insulting Aziraphale or smth like 'me after s2' and the video of taking of his face or covering them all on some kind of placats. I'm shittin myself. I know that thats grief after the ending but... Man his whole life or more like existance is not ONLY about Crowley in fact :/

Look how we get a chance to speculate why did he do that? What was his reasons? I think that the ending of Good Omens was (not only just marketing catch (that dramatic pause for a kiss and 'betrayal') but also a planned procedure? I love them both [Aziraphale and Crowley] equally so you shouldn't think this is a desperate attempt to protect your favorite (wha de duck I am saying, this series have a few months now so it is not a fresh topic... For me it is oh goddd ANYWAY)

Kidding! Not so extreme. Haha. Anyway. Those are the possibilities why Aziraphale decided that he should leave to heaven. Of course, there could be a few. Or everything. Or none. It's just my personal opinion :)

Goosh, sorry for the mess. Lets start already. Yeah. Uh. Right. Right. Alright. Why Aziraphale chose heaven?

1. Aziraphale overall is an angel... Literally... So uhm he is naturally connected with God, wich he as well worships. He don't have to stand with heaven, but he still has a deep bond with good. Leaving the heaven would be, right, a great decision for his wellbeing. It's clear that he's not on their side. But he did not left his God. Saying 'no' to Megatron would be something that would make him feel terribly guilty and overall devasted, as he would disobey his own moral code and he would gave up a part of himself, I suppose.

2. For 6,000 fuckinf years he had been arguing with himself about feeling for Crowley, right now doesn't matter if platonic, romantic. He was renouncing Crowley so many times that he don't know him, he's not his friend. Yet he could not resist, but be with that redhead. Don't you think that he was having some, oh I don't know, moral crisis? Imagine choosing between two most importanr things? The creature you love and, for Azi, a literall purpose of creation - serving God? Oh man, he was in this state for over 6,000 years. If he would say 'no' then, would he ever get another chance like that to habilitate? He was working so hard, for so long, but he didn't had to chose through all those centuries. Now he had. I guess it's logical, that he choosed his creator.

3. Clear and logical! If Crowley would be back to heaven, he wouldn't have to choose between two thing he loves. Ah you clever one :). Nah. He literally said that he wants to work with Crowley. What can I say more.

4. Obvioulsy, he did not wanted to chose what we know of we SHOULD from serial. And pervious point... And previous previous. It felt like he had been lost or something in it all. I mean, he needed to choose if he wants to take Crowley, if he wants to go back. He was rhinking about the kiss, probably about heaven, what would they say, what would they do. To him, to Crowley. What he should say to Megatron. I suppose he was impetuous with that decision. Imagine lying (he is a damn angel whaaa) to yourself for thousands of years and then just having to confess. Nah, he would like better to stay silent and still lie 🙂 oh god why he is so stupid. Crowley is also stupid. They both are!!!

5. He was mad. Similisr to previous point. He felt like he did not belong with Crowley, as he was devasted. And also Crowley ignored him as well, as Azi ignored Crowley. But i want to focus on thing that he said that he NEEDS him and begged to not to leave him. Easy peasy. No communication between those doveys.

6. He was afraid of loving Crowley as - what would heaven say? What would god say? Will they be happy? Will they be safe? Is it really possible for them to be together? Demon and angel?

7. He considered himself as a failure for Crowley 👍 after he said yes, when Crowley was always saying no.

8. He was afraid of the consequences refusing heaven. Like, he literally was making out with devil, then went o heaven, hell's fire couldn't kill 'him' (ik it was crowley but not for heaven), he was hiding Gabriel, he did not cooperated with heaven. There were a few times when he sinned... A lot. Uhm. Well,I DO have a reason to suppose this could have been some kind of test or something... Because what the hell? From archangel, later no one, then back to the archangel?

Dungeons and Daddies Wiki Drama: A Greek Tragedy Told through the Medium of Forum Posts (Part 2)

Act 2: The Wax Melts, The Sea Beckons

In which the wings begin to fall apart.

Despite the drama unfolding over the November admin discussion post, wiki life continued. User posts showed cracks in the foundation. Something was rotten in the state of Wikia.

It seems that the administrators were deleting pages, instituting rigid new rules about how long a post could stay unfinished (and, apparently, what qualified as unfinished).

Enter anonymous wiki user Chekovsnakess.

November 23rd, 2023:

Chekovsnakess pointed out the issue inherent in the deletions- moderators wanted more people to engage with the wiki, but what's the point, when the page will get nuked?

Chekovsnakess: "The wiki feels more of the admins' wiki rather than a community wiki."

The admins didn't take well to this critique.

TwoRatner: "In no way have we, the admins, been hostile."

TheOneTrueGod41: "It can't be unprofessional if we absolutely mean it."

PawnSum: "Uh, you can't type fast or something? I can, so that shouldn't be a problem."

Also, iconic quote from PawnSum: "I literally broke my ankle and couldn't get home, so I understand what pain is."

PawnSum makes a good point- only they, a wiki editor experiencing mild criticism and a broken ankle, could ever understand true pain.

Opening a paragraph with "you also don't seem to understand that your opinions aren't facts" and closing it with "Please stop leaving and just stay!"

A masterpiece of salesmanship. Glenn and his high Persuasion rolls could only hope to reach the levels of charisma displayed by wiki administrator TwoRatner.

Other iconic TwoRatner quotes:

"Admins are like princiPALS after all, or a nice janitor."

"You want me to quick my job? I can't! I already paid for the funeral and now I need more money to feed my family."

After this, Chekovsnakess remained silent, perhaps choosing to disengage from fandom wiki drama and move on with their life. An unthinkable choice, to be sure.

More users turned to the forums to express frustrations with the wiki, falling on the administrator's deaf ears.

With this, we segue to the moderator response to wiki user critiques: splitting the wiki into two websites with separate mod teams, one for season 1 of the podcast and one for season 2.

In haunting Anakin-like fashion, TwoRatner says "I promise to bring about a satisfying future to this wiki." A promise they would be unable to live up to.

December 2nd, 2023:

TwoRatner's attempt to bring peace to their new empire wiki would first involve mysterious user Largeo and a separation on par with the Great Church Schism of 1054. Equally important decisions with equally worldwide consequences.

TwoRatner made the generous decision to put this up for a community vote, with only one dissenter: Zilstreet.

Zilstreet pointed out the obvious criticism: wouldn't splitting a wiki for a single show between two different places make it confusing for casual browsers? What about characters that appear in both seasons? Was there a specific game plan?

This was met with a measured, thoughtful response from the administrators.

How dare Zilstreet not take into account HungerBunger's trauma and exercises in extending trust???

More users with suspiciously similar speech patterns chime in to support TwoRatner's proposal.

Interestingly, MotPot brings up jazz unprompted. Where have we seen that before? Honic Washington and The One True God 41, in Part 1.

Clearly, there must be a lot of overlap between jazz fans and D&D podcast wiki editors.

Marth8204 came out swinging, telling Zilstreet that they should be ashamed for having the audacity to ask questions about a drastic site change, but seemed pacified by TwoRatner's warning to "tone it down a bit."

TwoRatner imposed a deadline for users to vote on the change.

FunderStun also came out swinging- this time, against Gaycowboyrats (featured in Part 1) and... Amber Heard? Then they delivered this line: "There is no savior, so we have to be."

Again, poetry.

And again, I'd like to put a pin in the Gaycowboyrats reference.

Thus ended the split discussion thread, leaving me with more questions than answers.

Nicoh Watonshing seems to be referring to wiki security breaches. Was this an ongoing issue? Were admins getting hacked? If so, by whom? What could hackers possibly want from the wiki?

What happened between Brazil86 and TwoMarshall? What did Brazil86 do wrong? Are there any words in the English language that can strike as much fear in one's heart as "abnormally long Discord call"?

Note the TwoMarshall brother reference: this is very similar to references made by TwoRatner to a brother that died. How coincidental.

This period of forum volatility closely follows the themes established in Act 1: a strict, opaque sense of wiki justice, wiki moderator power as a status more important than wiki functionality, calling for more community engagement while largely ignoring community engagement when it happened, and making drastic changes in response to real or perceived wiki problems.

Here, we see more new administrator names pop up in the forums with similar styles of speech and occasional non-sequiturs, even after Honic Washington's (apparent) departure.

Here, we see new discontent in the moderator ranks- some apparent failure by Brazil86, and its severe consequences with TwoMarshall.

Here, we see two moderators (TwoRatner and TwoMarshall) with similar brother-related situations. Did TwoRatner switch accounts? Was this related to the alleged security breaches in the wiki?

Despite being active in the forums and wiki at large before this, Gaycowboyrats is now conspicuously absent except for the reference by FunderStun, who wants to remove Gaycowboyrats from his position of influence and "free" the fandom.

Has the Dungeons and Daddies wiki been subject to some kind of administrator security breach and subsequent overthrow, resulting in a schism?

Life seems to be giving this wiki a lot of grapefruit.

And when life gives you grapefuit, you make grapefruit pellets to shoot your friends.

Your family soon left King's Landing and returned to Dragonstone. At the farewell, your father was tempted to take Alyssa with him, but you declined gratefully and held her gently against you. Since then, Aemond and you have devoted yourself entirely to being parents. You are completely fixated on Alyssa, she has become the centre of your world. As the first few moons passed, you spent a lot of time being shown by the midwives how to breastfeed and bathe Alyssa properly. Aemond was always by your side. He was almost afraid to miss even a second that is important in Alyssa's life. Even though you assured him that he wouldn't miss much if you breastfed or diapered Alyssa, he was present most of the time.

But now Aemond has taken on more royal duties again. In the beginning he took a little time off from all the responsibilities to be with you and Alyssa, but now he has taken on more work again. He feels guilty because every time he leaves you and Alyssa in your chambers, he feels like he could miss important moments.

But an important moment for him came since Alyssa was able to eat porridge, because now Aemond doesn't feel quite so useless by your side. As soon as he meets you for dinner, he takes Alyssa from you and puts her on his lap. He tries to feed her the porridge and listens intently to her babbling. Eventually, the porridge ends up everywhere but in Alyssa's mouth. But Aemond and Alyssa are happy and so are you.

Aemond is just a wonderful father to his daughter. You would never have doubted that he would be a good father, yet it makes you indescribably happy to see the two of them together. You love that side of him. Every time you see him taking care of Alyssa, you feel an almost unbearable surge of love inside you. He is loving and caring. Just as he makes you feel loved and secure, he also makes Alyssa feel equally valued.

Since you both take care of Alyssa, she is rarely at the nursery. Either you are with her or Aemond is with her. Sometimes you even manage to both be with her. Alyssa is a quiet but bright child. She sleeps well at night and is all the more active during the day. Happy giggles constantly echo through the chambers, because Alyssa loves to make high-pitched sounds. But she also seems smart. She often sits on Aemond's lap while he reads. As she does so, she watches his face closely, as if not wanting to miss a facial expression, and she even seems to understand that his attention is on the book in front of him. She tolerates this only to a certain extent, because she wants him to give her his full attention. Since she cannot yet communicate with words to get his undivided attention, she then often pulls at his soft hair. Aemond then cries out briefly and tries to remove her little fingers from his hair. He follows this up by holding her little hands and tries to explain to her each time that it is not proper to pull someone's hair, but he cannot stay angry with her for long. As soon as he looks into her big purple eyes, he can't help but cuddle her mercilessly so that her happy laughter resounds through your chambers again.

But she only pulls Aemond's hair, she seems to know that she can only allow herself to do that with him. With you she is somehow more tender. If you hold her and she notices that your attention is focused on something else for too long, she starts to look at you insistently. Sometimes she also starts to snort. This is a trait she has often observed in you and has been trying to imitate ever since. But if you still don't look at her, she puts her little hand gently on your cheek and waits until you turn towards her. Then, when you turn back to her, a little smiling face awaits you.

But what fascinates her almost the most is when one of you speaks High Valyrian with her. The sound of the language fascinates her so much that she even interrupts a tantrum just to listen to the language she does not yet understand.

Despite these countless beautiful moments you experience, one thing falls by the wayside. And that is your time together with Aemond. You don't want to complain and you were aware that all attention is focused on Alyssa in the first time, but you miss Aemond so dearly. Even when you make up your mind to spend some time with Aemond in the evening, you usually just fall asleep because your strength is simply drained.

One afternoon you meet Helaena to walk around the garden. You still often sit together with the children, but today you simply have time for two, while Aemond looks after Alyssa.

After wandering around for a few hours, you head back to your chambers. Already in the corridor, you hear giggling coming from the chambers.

Quietly you open the door and see Aemond sitting on a chair, Alyssa on his lap.

"Watch out Alyssa! You need to get better control of your dragon!!! You are in a nosedive!!!"

Alyssa, who certainly doesn't understand what her father is saying, squeals overjoyed as Aemond lowers his knee, on which Alyssa is sitting. When Aemond looks up and sees you, he grins, "Shall we show Momma how well we can ride the dragon?"

Again Alyssa squeals happily. You can only grin as Aemond stands up and lifts Alyssa high into the air. With one hand on Alyssa's chest and the other hand on her knees, Aemond levitates Alyssa through the air and comes up to you, "Look Momma! I'm almost as good a dragon rider as Poppa!", you hear Aemond say in a high-pitched voice.

Aemond stops in front of you and holds Alyssa in front of your face. You kiss her and take her in your arms. Aemond stands beside you, smiling, as you hold Alyssa in your arms.

"Did you have a good time?"

Aemond nods at you, " We have been practising our dragon riding."

You chuckle, "Well, I've noticed that."

"And you? What does my sister have to report?"

"We did indeed have a good time. Although she informed me that your mother is planning to celebrate Aegon's next name day."

Aemond's eyebrows furrow, "Another big celebration..."

You nod.

When Aemond attends a council meeting that same evening, he also learns that Aegon's name day is to be celebrated with a ball. The invitations are quickly sent out to the country, because the ball is to take place just two weeks later.

You are delighted when your family's reply arrives a few days later. But your mood is quickly dampened when you read that only your father and Jace will be attending. Your mother is already half pregnant, but is struggling with problems.

But you are still looking forward to seeing your father and brother.

The preparations for the ball are in full swing and more and more guests are arriving. Aemond has also spent less time in your chambers in the last two weeks. He usually came to sleep in your chambers late at night and this only reinforces the feeling in you that you miss him very deeply.

Aegon's name day is only one day away. You make your way to the Dragonpit with Alyssa in your arms as the shouts get louder that dragons are flying over King's Landing. So your father and Jace must arrive on Caraxes and Vermax.

As you arrive, you can already see your father coming out of the Dragonpit. He can't suppress his grin when he sees Alyssa on your arm.

"My littlest dragon," he murmurs as he takes Alyssa from your arm and hugs her tightly.

You smile and kiss your father's cheek. Jace comes towards you and is already grinning. When you notice him, you go to meet him and cannot suppress a grin either. You hug each other tightly.

"We really see each other too rarely," Jace chimes in.

You smile, "I suppose that will change when Mother is on the throne?"

"Possibly," he smiles too.

Behind you, you hear a happy squeal and as you turn around, you see Daemon completely enthralled by little Alyssa.

Daemon's huge hand is on Alyssa's belly, tickling her. Alyssa is squirming in his arm, but Daemon has her firmly in his arms.

You look at him smiling as you walk towards the two of them. Daemon notices and has to smile too, "You loved that as a baby. You always wanted to be on my arm and I always had to tickle you. If I dared to stop, you'd grab my hand and put it back on your tummy promptly."

Seeing your father fooling around with Alyssa like that, you suddenly feel the urge to hug your father. You take a step towards him and bury your face in his chest, murmuring a, "I missed you Daddy..." into his chest.

Daemon gently kisses your head.

Alyssa reaches out to you when she notices that your hair is within her reach. She loves your hair, just as she loves Aemond's hair. Soon, long silver strands will cover her head as well. Slowly she begins to stroke your hair as you turn your face to her and smile. She giggles softly as she lets strands of your hair slip through her little fingers. You gently caress her cheek as you stand up straight again, noticing that Daemon has been watching you all the while, smiling. "Shall we go to the Keep?" you finally hear him ask and you smile at him. Gradually you make your way to the Keep, Alyssa still on Daemon's arm as he refuses to hand Alyssa back to you.

You take Daemon and Jace to their chambers, once there, you take Alyssa in your arms again and give them time to arrive. Slowly you walk back to your chambers with Alyssa. With regular stops, because Alyssa has to look closely at the paintings in the corridors.

Late in the evening, Aemond comes to your chambers. It is rare that you are still awake when Aemond returns to your chambers so late.

He stops just before the cradle in which Alyssa is lying and sleeping. He smiles and leans down briefly to kiss her. You watch him as you lie on the bed, actually reading a book. You are wearing only a nightgown. He turns in your direction and slowly approaches your bed. He smiles at you, "My beautiful wife," he murmurs. You have to grin and sit up on your knees.

"Tell me about your day," you ask him gently.

He smiles and slowly takes off his leather waistcoat, "Do you really want me to bore you with this?"

You nod at him, still smiling, and watch as he slowly undresses. He overlooks your glance, but you feel the familiar warmth slowly spreading through your loins. Despite the vest he wears, you can see how well-toned his body is, and you become painfully aware again of how much you miss his touch.

"I met your father. He even talked to me. I think there's a good chance we'll have a normal relationship at some point. Well, at least if it's limited to a hello and goodbye."

You have to chuckle as you listen to him, "Would you like to have a good relationship with my father that much?" you reach for his hand and want to pull him onto the bed.

Aemond shrugs his shoulders and sits down with his knee on the bed when he has accepted your inviting hand. He still doesn't seem to have noticed the way you look at him. Lost in thought, he slowly takes off his shirt.

"I don't know, I think it's enough if we don't hate each other."

You slide a little closer to him and slowly press tender kisses to his bare chest, feeling his warmth flood your body, "He doesn't hate you.... He may not like you very much, but he doesn't hate you either," you murmur against his chest.

Aemond puts his arms around your body and looks up into the air. Lost in thought, his purple eye fixes on a point in the distance. You look at him and his perfect face. Far too rarely do you just look at him. You bite your lip as you admire his beautiful jawline and full lips. His lovely, seductive, almost irresistible lips. Just as you are about to kiss his lips, Alyssa begins to cry out. Aemond turns his face towards the cradle, "Oh, my little dragon girl! Don't worry, I'll go to her," Aemond releases the embrace and gets up from the bed.

You sit stunned on the bed and stare at him for a moment. "Are you serious now?" it slips out of your mouth.

Aemond turns to you, "Do you want to go to her? I thought I'd take some of the work off your hands."

You shake your head, "No it's fine. You can go."

You drop back onto the bed and look up at the ceiling. In the back of your chambers you hear Aemond trying to calm Alyssa with "Ssshh" sounds and phrases like, Ñuha zaldrītsos riña. Mirre iksis sȳrī, poppa iksis kesīr sir (My little dragon girl.... all is well, Poppa is here now).

You guess this is what your life looks like now. You have an irresistible husband you long for, but he is busy attending important council meetings, calming your daughter and the thought of whether your father likes him or not. A little annoyed, you get under the covers and try to get some sleep.

Aemond feels a little guilty. The new royal duties have kept him from helping you with Alyssa for a while. So he at least wants to give you a hand in the evening hours. After a while, Aemond has managed to calm Alyssa down. She lies back in her cradle, next to her dragon egg and breathes gently. Aemond smiles down at her and then quietly turns in your direction and walks towards your bed. He sees you nestled in the covers, appearing to be asleep, his smile still on his lips. Slowly he slips under the covers and takes you in his arms.

Alyssa's cries wake you up the next morning. You sit up, your eyes still half closed, and try to take in your surroundings. The other half of the bed is already empty and not even warm anymore, Aemond must already be on the training yard. Another point you long for, just waking up in his arms. Nevertheless, you have to take care of your daughter now, so you slowly let yourself slide out of your bed.

You go to the cradle and take Alyssa out, "Ssshhh" and you cradle her in your arms. "Skoro syt issi ao crying hae bona, mmhm?" (Why are you crying like that, mmhm?) Alyssa continues crying at the top of her lungs, "Gaomagon ao miss aōha poppa hae sȳrī?" (Do you miss your Poppa as well?)

But as you hold her up, you realise the real reason for her bleating, "Mhmm I think there's another reason for your bleating!" You carry her into the bathroom where you change her nappies.

After you have washed and fed her, lay her down on your bed. With one eye, watch her try to hide under your pillows and blankets while you quickly get dressed.

As you take her in your arms again, she snuggles up to you and you head into the hall for breakfast. Everyone else is already gathered when you enter the hall. But this time you do not sit down at Helaena's side for breakfast, but take your old place at your father's side. You kiss him gently on the cheek and murmur "Good morning".

Your father grins at you, "You find old habits hard to break, don't you?"

You smile, "As long as I'm your daughter, I won't stop." Alyssa squeals as she realises her grandsire is sitting next to her.

Daemon happily takes her in his arms so you can eat breakfast. As Daemon suddenly reaches under his waistcoat, "Look what I've brought you."

Daemon holds out a wooden figure to Alyssa. A dragon with its wings spread wide and looking as if it could fly off at any moment.

Alyssa accepts the dragon and seems to look at it with interest at first. Excitedly, her gaze goes back and forth between you and Daemon. Daemon nods encouragingly at her and this is what she seems to have been waiting for. Now she keeps hitting the dragon on the table, as she seems to find the sounds much more interesting.

You don't see Aemond during the day, he is busy as always with council meetings. Why even today, on Aegon's name day, there are still meetings is a mystery to you. You take Alyssa to the nursery in the afternoon. Jaehaerys and Jaehaera will also be there. They love Alyssa and have been looking forward to Alyssa being at the nursery with them all day and even spending the night there with them.

After you are sure that Alyssa is comfortable in the nursery, you go to your chambers to prepare for the evening.

You first take a bath and then spread a pleasantly scented lavender oil on your body. For the first time in a long while, you braid your hair back at the temples and let it fall down your back.

Gradually you fit into your dresses again and choose one of your favourite dresses. It shimmers in a dark purple and gently brings out the colour of your eyes. Aemond loves this dress on you.

Just as you finish and put on your necklace, Aemond comes in. He smiles when he sees you and comes towards you. "You look stunning," he lets his tongue trail his lips barely noticeably as his gaze falls on your cleavage.

You smile at him and let your hand wander to his collar, "Does this perhaps mean that my dear husband will be dancing with me tonight?"

He chuckles briefly, "I think that rather tempts me to do other things"

Your lips are slightly parted and your faces slowly approach each other. You feel his warm breath against your lips as a knock sounds at the door. Angrily you groan, "What is it?"

"It's time, we want to be in the hall on time," you hear Jace's voice.

You close your eyes and hear Aemond chuckle. He gives you a light kiss on the lips and then goes to the door to open it.

Your brother and father are standing in the doorway, smiling at you.

"Shall we go?" you hear Jace ask. You nod.

Aemond is waiting for you at the door and holds out his arm. You accept his invitation and head for the Great Hall.

Alicent has once again outdone herself in the planning. As you enter the Great Hall it is festively decorated. Several tables are ready for the guests to dine and drink.

Aemond leads you to the head table and you sit down. Daemon and Jace sit at your side for tonight. Shortly afterwards, your grandsire is carried in. You are taken by how badly he is feeling. Aemond notices your distress and gently strokes your thigh. Your gaze wanders back into the hall. You are a little surprised at how many lords and ladies have come to the capital for Aegon's name day. You are also surprised at how many ladies are present. It seems almost sadly strange to you that on Aegon's name day, it is predominantly ladies who are present.

The celebrations begin and you are looking forward to the wine. It's been far too long since you drank wine in the evening. The hall quickly fills with loud music as well as conversations and laughter, which they try to drown out. You get more and more into the right mood to celebrate Aegon's name day, and at the same time your thirst for more wine increases. The wine tastes just as good as it did before you were pregnant. You are enjoying the fruity taste on your tongue when Aemond gives you an amused look. "Do you want to compete with Aegon today?" he whispers in your ear. You just stick your tongue out at him. Jace quickly leaves your side of the table and joins the crowd. That's what you love about Jace, that he's always up for a good party.

Your father also stands up after lovingly stroking your arm.

Aemond's hand is still on your thigh, gently you take his hand and caress it. You want to try your luck, "You know. We haven't had much time together lately... would you dance with me?", you look at him through your long lashes.

Aemond raises his eyebrow, "I don't think that's going to happen."

You pout, "Please Aemond, just one dance. To feel you close for just one dance..."

He smiles and shakes his head, "You can't tease me with that. I can take you in my arms anytime. I don't have to dance with you for that."

"But you don't," you murmur.

"Mmhmm?" he looks at you.

"Are you going to sit here all evening and not even dance with me?"

Aemond looks at you a little irritated, "Yes...?"

"Then you don't have a problem with me going out into the crowd where there are many willing lords who I'm sure would love to dance?"

He simply extends his hand towards the crowd to signal that you are welcome to go and dance. Indignantly, you look at him, "Don't you stop trying to woo me just because you married me, Aemond!"

Angrily, you throw your napkin into his lap and stand up. You leave a visibly irritated Aemond behind as you make your way into the celebrating crowd.

(Just a fair warning, this got a LOTTTT longer than I expected it to 😭)

Because I got a little too invested in this, I'm gonna lengthily elaborate on most parts of the profile, enjoy :)

Pequeño and Gräddkanna/Grädde

Pequeño is a 3 year old Mallard Duck. As a duckling, Pequeño lived with Marnie on her Ranch for a couple of weeks, Marnie was convinced he wouldn't live to see the next week, at this point, as he was scrawny and very obviously a runt compared to the rest of brood. In this same week, Roo was looking for another feathery friend to occupy his space with him and ended up visiting Marnie, and upon seeing the scrawny duckling, he asked Marnie if he could take him in, she warned him, but he was persistent- He left that Ranch with a duckling who could barely hold his own. It's taken three years of strenuous work to keep Pequeño well, but Roo didn't give up and now, at three years old, Pequeño is alive and, although he struggles from time to time, he is well and very happy. Roo calls him Pequeño because it means little, and Pequeño is a very little duck- Pequeño is also one of the only words Roo knows in Spanish. (Pequeño is also a reference to a tame I had in ARK LMAO)

Gräddkanna, or Grädde, is a 6 year old Cream colored Silkie Chicken. Roo has had Grädde for 4 years, like Pequeño, She was taken in from Marnie, although Grädde was in much better condition than Pequeño upon being adopted. Roo never considered himself to be a bird lover, and especially never considered himself to be a bird owner, but it was like love at first sight when he saw Grädde meandering Marnie's Ranch- So Roo began indirectly asking Marnie if Grädde (or Mila, as Marnie had originally named her) was available to buy, she said that Mila/Grädde was there to stay on her Ranch, but it was the saddened look in his eyes when he was exiting that had Marnie begin to reconsider her choice, and Roo left her place empty-handed. A week later, Marnie showed up at Roo's door, early in the morning with a Silkie chicken being cuddled in her arms, she knocked and was met with a rather grumpy Roo, however he lightened up when he saw Mila in Marnie's arms, She offered him Mila for a low price (15 dollars), while she was willing to give up Mila, she wasn't going to give up Mila for nothing- He happily paid Marnie and took Mila, now Grädde, in his arms. Grädde co-parented with Roo to raise Pequeño, Grädde was very happy and eager to take Pequeño under her wing (pun intended), and so she did. Grädde and Pequeño are now best friends and sometimes you'll see Pequeño hitching a ride on Grädde's back, this is more commonly seen when Roo is wandering the town and he isn't actively carrying Pequeño, he [Pequeño] does this mainly because he is too weak to walk for long and has to rest, and Grädde is just strong enough to carry around Pequeño for a moderate amount of time. Gräddkanna means Creamer and Grädde means Cream in Swedish, Roo named/nicknamed her that because of her Cream feathers and because the texture of her feathers reminds Roo of Cream.

Roo Facts 1-5

- ♪ "Tends to wander town with Grädde and Pequeño" Roo loves his birds, and equally loves wandering as much as he does his birds, so during the day (during any season except Summer), you'll often find Roo wandering about in town or in the forest with Grädde and Pequeño, there's a couple different wandering variations, the most common being him carrying Pequeño with Grädde following suit, an uncommon variant will be of, as mentioned earlier, Pequeño on Grädde's back, and a rarer variant that will only occur later on during your playthrough (around year 2, and progressively becomes more common beyond year 2), is of Roo with only Grädde or Pequeño, this is due to Pequeño's condition and age and Grädde's age, Roo will only carry one of his two birds, as the birds age, Grädde becomes weaker and unable to walk as much and unable to carry Pequeño as long as she used to. As for Pequeño, he is unable to stay out for long at this point, meaning Roo has to leave him at home so he can stay warm, leaving Roo to carry Grädde around town (and vice versa, depending on how Grädde is doing). Another rare variant that only occurs VERY late in the playthrough (around year 4-5+, becomes more common in later years beyond year 6) is of Roo by himself- as mentioned, his birds are old at this point, and around year 4-6, they are too old to be able to even travel with Roo, this variant contains the least amount of dialogue lines from Roo and is the variant where most times, you will not be able to talk to him, due to him being sad about not having his birds (I did not want to include pet death in his story, so Roo's birds do live, however any year after year 6-8 will only include his last wandering variant)

- ♪ "He hates Summer, so most of his summer schedule is spent in his home" It's as the fact states, Roo hates the Summer and thus doesn't leave his home much for most of the day. You're more likely to see him wander around around sunset, as it's cooler and isn't nighttime where his birds won't get lost. Due to this, it is significantly harder to befriend and/or romance Roo during this season- it's still possible, just a bit frustrating/difficult to do so. To get a brief/broader look at his schedule during the summer, here's a time chart of his weekly summer schedule:

- ♪ "Used to date Leo until he [Leo] moved to Zuzu City" Leo and Roo briefly dated/were friends with benefits (it was complicated), Leo was new to Pelican Town, and it didn't take long for him and Roo to hit it off, however, Leo did not fancy the small farm/town life, and left a couple of months later for Zuzu city, officially cutting it off with Roo. This took place before Roo got his birds and when he was also new to Pelican Town (albeit, not as new as Leo)

- ♪ "He resides in Cindersap Forest" Roo technically lives in Cindersap Forest, he lives in the forest gap between Cindersap Forest/Marnie's Ranch and 1 Willow Lane (Sam's house), i'm sure ya'll know what I mean, but here's where he is on the map (for all my visualizer homies out there):

Roo's home is unavailable during the very beginning of a playthrough, and you cannot meet him properly until the Flower Dance. It IS possible to meet him during the Egg Festival, however he is off to the side somewhere beyond the bar, over by Dusty- At this point, Roo won't really talk to you, and will only say "Hello." before going back to watching the festival from afar, this will not count as meeting him. Going back to the Flower Dance, he is found standing awkwardly off to the side by Elliott and Leah, you can talk to him, and he'll, like before, say "Hello." and this will count as meeting him, and you will see him around town from here on out. After meeting Roo, two new areas will be introduced, when going between Cindersap and Pelican town, you will instead go to a small threeway intersection instead of going directly to and fro- going upwards will take you to another small area which is where Roo's home is. I don't have an exact image of what his home looks like right now, but just know it does have a little fenced off area for his birds, and the inside of his home is pretty duck/chicken-proofed. Roo's home cannot be entered until you get 2 hearts with him, and after reaching 2 hearts and entering his home, you will have to further your relationship with him (4 hearts) to be able to enter his bedroom.

- ♪ "Roo rarely visits Calico Desert, but when he does, him and Sandy chat up a storm" Perhaps one of the biggest surprise facts LMAO Him and Sandy are really good friends, unfortunately he doesn't visit a lot cause he hates the warmth of the Desert, but he does occasionally visit her, and their vibes actually compliment each other well and they like to chat and even sometimes gossip between each other (although Roo doesn't like to gossip a lot so it's moreso them just chatting).

Favorite Thing

I just wanted to briefly elaborate on this one, but it's kind of two things (ofc I couldn't put two), Leo is his favorite thing/person, but since Leo has left and since Roo has... mostly... moved on, Roo's new favorite "thing" is Elliott, he's absolutely enamored with him. (It seems Roo's growing type is long hair...)

Favorite Villagers

His absolute favorite villager is Elliott, he could marry Elliott if he could, and while Elliott does like him back, Elliott has established that he doesn't want to take their relationship further. Following Elliott (in order of most liked to least), is Sebastian, they both share a very familiar emo/grunge-y vibe... Next is Sandy, who I've talked about- Then it's Alex, who's kind of a guilty-like/crush, Roo doesn't really like some of Alex's ideals/outlooks, but he can't help but catch himself admiring Alex's face when he's near- and lastly is Harvey, Roo thinks Harvey is cute and they're good friends, but Roo is a little weirded out by the fact that Harvey's name is... well, Harvey- If you know Roo lore, you'll know that Roo's birthname is Harvey and thus why Roo getting with Harvey would be a little strange. Saying Roo doesn't like any of the aforementioned villagers isn't right, he loves all his friends (and Elliott a little moreso), however there are a couple of villagers he doesn't like... 👀

Other Random Facts

★ Roo and Elliott, ironically enough, have the same birthday hehe

★ While Roo is romancable, his sexuality is still in place, and is the only villager/character who is only romancable to male villagers/characters/farmers. If a female character tries to romance Roo (Asking him to the flower dance, Bouquet... etc), He will reject them and their advances, you'll lose a heart with him initially and if you try again a second time, you'll lose 2 hearts and if you REALLY just cannot give it up and try again, you'll lose all your hearts with him and all his dialogue with the farmer will change (basically being distant), you can regain hearts with him, but it takes twice as long and if you do end up trying again for a FOURTH TIME, he'll reject you and will become incredibly distant to the farmer, and you will not be able to regain hearts with him.

★ Most of Roo's disliked items are items that can only be acquired during the Summer (Spice berry, Hops, etc), which goes hand in hand with his general dislike for Summer altogether- While most of his liked items are catered towards Fall items (Fairy Rose, Wild Plum, Plum Jam, etc). Even though his likes/dislikes are catered toward preferred seasons, he also has separate reasons for liking/not liking those things (not liking Hops because he doesn't like beer / liking Fairy rose because of the color)

NATLA Episode 6 - Masks (1/5)

[Masterlist of my NATLA thoughts]

An explanation of what I'm doing here and my history with ATLA.

Of course, full spoilers ahead.

This is a LONG one, so strap in for many parts. I have essays.

Opening with Zuko's side of The Storm animated episode was amazing. The way the camera starts from behind and Iroh's voice-over talking about masks and former excitement to show the world your true face - before that joy is beaten out of you - was such a strong way to introduce the themes explored in this episode. A new watcher wouldn't initially know that's Zuko, and the shock of seeing him without the scar was a great reveal that this is a flashback. Iroh already stepping into the mentor position with Zuko, helping him with his armor and giving him advice just fleshed out their connection even more. The way Dallas Liu played young Zuko was so great - from the way he walked, how easily he smiled, and even the different inflection of his voice, you immediately saw this was a younger, less tormented Zuko than we had seen before. Which then perfectly seeds in the dread of finding out what turned him from this tolerably happy kid into the surly, hurt boy we've seen in the other episodes.

Zhao's take-over of the Avatar hunt is so good. All the emotions racing across Zuko's face, the way Zhao clearly never respected Zuko and then the crew letting loose their frustration at the way Zuko treats them. Even though we've been primed to 'root' for Zuko (even in the animated series, we had that weird desire to see Zuko beat out Zhao), everyone's reactions to him make perfect sense. Of course Zhao isn't going to see Zuko as an equal - he's 16 years old! And Zuko HAS been treating his crew like shit, so their anger and lack of loyalty to him is justified. The show did such a great job at adding layers even within the ranks of the bad guys.

The Crescent Island looks PERFECT! All the sets are fantastic and I adore how Aang just assumes that even though the sages are fire nation, they'll respect him because he's the Avatar. After all, that's what they're supposed to do - but how Ozai has a tapestry of himself in the temple of the Avatar, we see the hints of how the Fire Nation has been led to treat the Avatar. I really like the addition/clarification in the live-action that the fire lords have placed themselves above the Avatar as the spiritual leader of the world - they've undermined the authority of the Avatar, no doubt due to Sozin's anger at Roku for standing against his bid to colonize the world. Even cultures where religion is seen as all-important, corrupt leaders have no problem co-opting that religious devotion and placing themselves in the position of power and adulation. Of course, as with all societies that try to do that, there will always be those who condemn mortal leader's attempts to usurp the power of the divine and hold to the 'old ways'. Love how we see that in the fire sages and the one who aids Aang - fulfilling the 'true' purpose of their order rather than the twisted one the leaders of the fire nation have turned it into.

Having a devout fire sage collect relics of past Avatars to keep in Roku's temple, I think was a great addition. It also makes a lot more sense to me that Zhao would have easy access to the info (and weapon) needed to kill the Moon Spirit rather than that shlub somehow finding the super hidden library that an archeologist spent YEARS exclusively searching for. While it was a cool foreshadowing of the library in season 2, having Zhao discover the moon and ocean spirit stuff in Avatar Roku's temple in the live-action I think makes more sense. I'll get to why I also think it was a good choice to have to attack them on a specific moon phase with a specific knife once those episodes come around.

The other fire sages truly believing that Ozai is the only one who can 'bring balance' is an interesting philosophical idea that the fire lords have implanted into the culture of the nation - and their ability to skew what 'balance' even means is really great work too. Not to bring Star Wars into this, but when one group tries to dominate the world (galaxy) fully so that they can control everything that happens, that's NOT 'balance' and forces will rise up to upend that system of control. Like Ozai said in episode 3, the way they've all been taught to 'create balance' is actually just an intense form of law and order where they control everything. It's an argument used liberally today that many fall for as well, so clarifying that here in season one instead of waiting all the way to season 3 like the animated show did really grounds the story in reality and lets viewers sit with the lessons and interrogate how they see it happening in their own lives for 3 seasons rather than just a few episodes.

It is a bit iffy world building from the animated show to have Aang only be able to talk with Roku on the solstice in his temple when later in the story, he can just connect to his past selves as long as he's meditating, in their clothes, or in a spiritual place - I think the animated show just really wanted to add in the temple and manufactured a reason for Aang to have to go there specifically on that date in the animated show. Not bad, but also makes the 'connecting to Avatars at their temple anytime' fit with the worldbuilding just fine. Like many first seasons (or books) of series that aren't all pre-written, the world building of early installments is usually a bit shaky and ironed out in later seasons, so I like that they've already started to do that here.

Roku, like Bumi, was another character that they shifted the tone of for the live-action. I think they chose to introduce Roku as a more fun-loving Avatar to really contrast him with Kyoshi (and later Kuruk) as well as most of the adults who've interacted with Aang so far. I think Gyatzo took the role of the more serious mentor that Roku had in the animated show and the live-action Roku really needed to be a stark contrast from the adults in Aang's life who blamed him for what happened with the war. I think they may have overdid the jokey nature of Roku a bit but as we see in the flashbacks with him in season 3 Roku always had been a more fun-loving guy. He does get serious and gives Aang some good advice - even though part of that advice is like Kyoshi's and Kuruk's that Aang needs to be careful about his friends. Though, his advice is distinctly different from Kyoshi's or Kuruk's in that he doesn’t say Aang can't have friends or let them help him, but rather that they can become liabilities and Aang will need to make decisions that sometimes could harm his friends for the sake of the world - not letting the lives of the few outweigh the lives of the many. Including lore about the Mother of Faces (full disclosure, I've never read any of the comics or books, so I just heard about that stuff second-hand) was really cool - and also ties back into the theme about identity and masks this episode is going hard on.

I also love how each of the Avatars Aang talks with have different ways they fulfilled their duties: Kyoshi through force and combat, Roku though diplomacy, and Kuruk through protecting the veil between the spirit world and the material plane. While they each caution about needing to be more than a singular thing, we can see Aang identifying more with Roku and his mention of diplomacy - as evidenced by his plan to use the Mother of Faces statuette to bargain rather than to lure Koh out and use force to try to kill or restrain him as Kyoshi might or further anger him like Kuruk. Aang always leads with kindness and understanding, even to his enemies who've harmed him and his friends. There's no reason for him to immediately jump to giving Koh what he wants, but the fact that that's what he thought of first really says a lot about his character. Yes, he was warned about not being strong enough to 'defeat' Koh, but that he didn't initially think about tricking Koh or trapping him shows us who Aang is - and that same kindness and urge to talk it out with enemies is echoed at the end of the episode with him talking to Zuko.

Removing the comet deadline I think was a smart move for the live-action both for practical and storytelling purposes. It would add a whole lot more things the characters are needing to do prematurely - let's focus on getting to the north and figuring out the Avatar state first, then we can put a timeline on Aang's bending journey, plus irl kids age - it's just a fact of life and it's taken like, 3 years to cast, film, and get this season out onto Netflix and they haven't even started season 2 yet, so who knows how much older the kids will look once we get to season 3. Having Roku instead provide a different take on what the Avatar's personality can be, warning him about friends, and giving him the answer to the issues Aang is facing with the spirit world was justification enough to have him show up the way he did, even if he didn't give Aang the info on the comet.

Though I do miss Roku going apeshit on the fire sages who have forgotten what they're supposed to stand for, I understand through the storytelling aspect why they shifted that and didn't allow Aang to escape the temple unscathed. Again, due to the episodic nature of the animated show, every 20 minutes ends with the characters no longer in danger, having escaped certain doom. That structure doesn't flow when you only have 8 episodes, so continuing the danger from the fire temple right into June having caught up to Aang (like she did in Bato of the Water Tribe in the animated show) makes the story flow better. In the animated series, Aang gets caught as he's zipping around a mountain looking for frozen frogs to heal Sokka and Katara from a fever. Random guards see him, send a message to Zhao, and he sends in the Yuyan archers. For such a pivotal episode as The Blue Spirit is, the events that kick it off don't really connect to much - very episodic in nature. I think having it all connect with Zuko coming THIS CLOSE yet again to capturing the Avatar and regaining his place in the Fire Nation was a good choice.

Love that not only do we combine June into these episodes so it's her skill that once again finds and captures the Avatar, we also get more view points of people around the world through this time of war. In the animated series, much like Suki, June is just there to be hot, useful, and the muscle for the main male leads (plus she was there to be creeped on by Uncle Iroh in what I feel is one of the worst writing of his character of the whole show). The live-action, like with Suki, gave June an actual character - she had motivations and goals that had nothing to do with the male characters and more depth than just 'want money'. She's jaded and accepted the war, she's going to use it for her advantage.

It's also another view we get to see of how people in the world have adjusted to the lack of the Avatar for 100 years. They've had to make do without him, so the fire nation has placed the Fire Lord on that pedestal, and people like June have decided the Avatar isn't really necessary - after all, why would you think they would be if you've lived your entire life without one and have never seen a world where the Avatar does keep balance. It's hard to imagine a fundamentally different world that you've never seen.

Other scattered thoughts on The Zeppo (that sadly don't give me an excuse to use R):

I get that it's part of the point of the episode, and it is a funny joke, but it still kind of annoys me that ... not just that we don't get to see the episode from Buffy's perspective, but that the background plot of this episode doesn't really make any sense in the wider continuity of Season 3. It just feels like it would have worked better in Season 2 or Season 4 to have this sort of unscheduled apocalypse (and indeed, Doomed in Season 4 does much the same thing). This season is meant to have an arc villain with a long-term plan that he's been working on for a century. We heard him say (in Lovers Walk, just a handful of episode ago), that this year was "too important" to let somebody like Spike cause random trouble in town. But he does nothing at all to stop a group of demons trying to literally open the Hellmouth? It kind of makes it hard to maintain suspension of disbelief or think of the Mayor as an actual serious threat. (Yeah, I know that this is just me being annoyed that the show isn't even trying to be the exact sort of show I wish it were. It won't be the last time that that bugs me.)

Weirdly enough, I like Cordelia and Xander's dynamic a lot more this episode than I think I did for the entire time they were an item. They do actually feel like they know each other and even think alike (both going for the Jimmy Olsen reference, for example), and however much she prides herself on being mean Cordelia is notably the only person this episode to actually talk to Xander like something approaching an equal (albeit an equal she doesn't like much). And am I imagining things, or are there hints this episode that Cordelia's family is already having money trouble? Why has she suddenly decided that owning a "shiny car" isn't actually important? Why do we not see or hear about Cordelia's car this episode?

"Two guys rassling ... but not in a gay way!" I mean, between this and Season 1's "he's a very attractive man! how come that never came up?" and Season 2's "I don't trust Oz with her [...] he's a senior, he's attractive" and "No worries, I can handle the Oz Full Monty" from earlier this season and Season 4's "I totally get it now. Can I have sex with Riley too?" and Season 5's "It's understandable. Spike is strong and mysterious and sort of compact but well-muscled" and so many more things the writers have had Xander say it really is something of a crime that the show never actually comitted to the idea that Xander is bisexual. Of course, to do that, the writers would have had to recognize that bi people exist, which is admittedly something of a stumbling block.

"I like the quiet" is one of those lines that (much like Giles's "she's a hero [...] she's not like us" in The Gift) seems to get weirdly misunderstood by large parts of the fandom.

With Jack casually raising his old buddies from the dead with their old personalities and memories intact and Oz accidentally eating a (mostly) human being while a werewolf and it being treated as a punchline rather than murder this episode isn't exactly great for tonal consistency with the rest of the show, huh? (I did warn you the instance above wouldn't be the last time the show's refusal to take itself seriously irritated me.)

I'm not sure why anybody would shoot down the suggestion to watch Crystal and its movies or possibly even read the manga as a introduction to Sailor Moon. There will ALWAYS be people who might prefer the 90s anime adaption to the original source material/Crystal but AT LEAST gives the viewers a general understanding of the *actual* narrative and plot and what Mrs. Takeuchi was trying to convey and who knows, perhaps appreciate it. Going straight to the 1990s anime is just overkill, to be honest.

We have 200 episodes, 3 movies, and 5 specials. Make no mistake even if there are those who will have no problem with the anime's Monster of the Day formula and finding whatever new thingamajig in the latest victim's body there will also be those who've felt like they've hit a wall with the damn fillers and cramming everything into the last couple episodes, especially potentially with SuperS. Some will be put off and put the series on hold indefinitely. Better to take it at a slow pace

That's why I will always suggest the Manga along with Crystal for a person who is trying to get into SM for the simple fact that if they want to meat of the story without going through a lot of fat. It's to the point without wasting your time. The 90's anime has too much fat to go through and when you finally get to the meat it's not enough to enjoy because it's crammed. It doesn't get to the point and by the time it does it wastes your time. With the Manga being 60 acts and a few short stories and the Crystal being 3 season and 2-2 part movies it's at the right length that it shouldn't take that long to khock out and if they get bored with it, they can leave without that much time wasted. The 90's anime can honestly be a chore to watch and I honestly wouldn't put a newbie to watch it first for real. Especially if it's someone who likes plot along with character development. Like watch the 90's anime after you read the manga and watch Crystal.

I don't care what everyone says

Character Development/ Growth is nonextant in the 90's anime. Noone barely grows and stays in a damn box for 200 episodes.

You also barely know about their backstories either that where laid out in the manga.( Rei's father and her Mom died, Ami parents being divorced and him being a painter, Mako parents dying in a plane crash and her having PTSD thanks to it, Sailor V) Also one person celebrate a birthday in the 90's anime which is Usagi. So you don't even know when the girl's birthdays are.

They do get Character Development/ Growth in the Manga and in Crystal.

But of course your got these people who say the same thing over and over again.

Because screentime doesn't equal character development.

But it's wild for a person to suggest the Dic dub first.

Chapter 26 // Romantic Ending

----Part 1----

Akihito: "From the moment we met, I thought your overly honest reactions were adorable."

Akihito: "---Once I tried to love you like you're a little bird with unusually beautiful wings."

Akihito: "I was hoping that by using the Kotodama game, you wouldn't be able to able to stay away from me."

Yoshino: "Is it different now?"

After thinking for a moment, Akihito-sama replies.

Akihito: "Now..."

Akihito: "I would love to tie you up, but I think I want to see you fly high up in the sky. I want to understand that feeling."

(Just as I once wished to know Akihito-sama...)

(Now Akihito-sama also wishes to know my heart)

Yoshino: "Now, I don't want to leave Akihito-sama....so if we could both fly together, that solves the problem."

Akihito: "I expected you'd say that."

I recall this beloved exchange many times later with sweet emotions.

Like what happened...three months after the civil war....

Akihito: "Yoshino, are you going home?"

Yoshino: "Akihito-sama!"

He approached me in the long corridor of the Imperial Court and I look back at him with a smile.

Yoshino: "Yep. What about you?"

Akihito: "Yeah. I'm done with today's work."

Akihito: "It's great of you to go to the drug dormitory everyday to study."

His pats my head with a natural gesture and my cheeks starts to heat up feeling the warmth.

Yoshino: "No, no, it's a special exception in itself that a town pharmacist like me can go in and out of there."

While helping Yasuchika-san to exterminate demons in order to gather as much power to break my deal with Tamamo....

I had a fulfilling life as a pharmacist.

Akihito: "Yoshino has been making house calls for the people in Kyoto."

Akihito: "I'd be proud too if the learning developed over the long history of the Imperial Court could be of use among the people."

Yoshino: "Eveyone is delighted. Thanks to Akihito-sama for getting us talking in no time at all."

Akihito: "I'm willing to move forward with good ideas in the future."

Akihito-sama remains the reigning shadow ruler of the Imperial Court.

(It is said that the government has made much more progress than before because it has been able to renew its personnel by taking on younger officials)

Yoshino: "Everything is going well, isn't it?"

Akihito: "I guess so."

(....? Something is not right)

Yoshino: "Do you have any problem? Let me know if I can help with anything."

Akihito: "................."

Akihito: "Thank you. Then.....can I ask you a favor?"

(I wonder what it could be?)

The next day----we invited Ibuki and Yasuchik-san to join us in the garden pavilion.

Yasuchika: "Umm."

Akihito: "Look Yasuchika. Simmered food."

Yasuchika: "I know that, but..."

Akihito: "Here, have some."

Yasuchika: "No, I'm fine....Mmph!"

We have a table lined up with food in front of us.

Akihito-sama picks up a few veggies with his chopstick and held them out to Yasuchika-san.

Akihito: "One more. Say Ahhh."

Yasuchika: "....Aahhh."

Yasuchika-san kept eating the simmered food, with a face full of confusion.

(What a cute site)

Ibuki: "Hey, Yoshino. Doesn't it look like a mama bird feeding her baby? What's going on?"

Yoshino: "Honestly, I don't know the reason why...."

Ibuki and I looked equally confused while looking at them.

Akihito: "Do you like it?"

Yasuchika: "Like what?"

Akihito: "The taste."

Yasuchika: "Did you change the chef? The seasoning is a little more rustic than usual."

Akihito: ".............."

(Oh, actually....)

Ibuki then caught the sight of Akihito-sama's hands.

Ibuki: "What happened to your finger?"

Akihito: "Um..."

Yasuchika: "....! What!? How did you get injured!?"

Akihito: "Don't worry. Yoshino already treated the injury."

Akihito: "I just got a little cut while using the knife."

Yasuchika: "Knife?"

Yasuchika-san dropped the tofu he had just picked up with his chopsticks, as if in a panic.

Akihito: "Do you know? They say that if you put the hand that doesn't hold the knife in the cat's paw-like this, it can prevent injuries."

Clasping the finger of his left hand, Akihito-sama demonstrates.

Ibuki: "Heh. Well cats have excellent crisis avoidance skills."

Yasuchika: "Ibuki, shut up. You're confusing me."

Yasuchika: "Wait. Then this dish----"

Akihito: "I made it after Yoshino taught me."

Yoshino: "That's why the seasoning is simple. Sorry, if you didn't like it....."

Yasuchika: ".....Akihito-sama's.....home-cooked meals....."

(Yasuchika-san has turned into stone....)

Ibuki: "Heh. Funny that the royalty would cook his own food and that to commoner's food."

While teasing, Ibuki reaches for his chopsticks.

Yasuchika: "---No."

Yasuchika-san suddenly smacked Ibuki's hand.

Ibuki: "Ouch. What the hell?"

Yasuchika: "You're not having it, because I'm going to eat everything."

Ibuki: "Hey."

(Woah!?)

Yasuchika-san grabbed the plate from Ibuki's hand and started gobbling the entire simmered food.

Akihito: "But, I thought you didn't like it...."

-----Part 3-----

Akihito: "But, I thought you didn't like it...."

Yasuchika: "No way! Simmered food is now my favorite! I'll have this every day!"

(Wow! That's extreme.....!)

Akihito: "....? I'm glad you liked it that much."

Ibuki: "Hey, is anyone on my side here!? He just stole my food!"

Akihito: "Don't worry. There's more."

Yasuchika: "I'll have that too! Thank you!"

Yasuchika: "Anyways, demons don't need food to live...."

Yasuchika: "It's a waste to give Akihito-sama's precious home-cooked meals to you."

Ibuki: "You look more excited than ever. What a pain."

Ibuki turns his dismayed look at Yasuchika-san.

Then he turned his eyes to Akihito-sama.

Ibuki: "So. Why did you want to make this again?"

Yoshino: "Yeah. You didn't tell me too."

(There wasn't enough time before the evening and I didn't get to ask)

Akihito: "It's not something big like you'd expect."

Akihito-sama looked away as if troubled.

Akihito: "----I just wanted to start over."

Yasuchika: "What?"

Akihito: "I distorted Yasuchika's life by making him follow my path. I regret that."

Akihito: "Because if I had been a decent human being, I think I could have taught you to love better."

Yasuchika: "............."

(So that's what Akihito-sama was thinking....)

Ibuki: "----So home-cooked meals is an imitation of father and son?"

Akihito: "I observed that parents do a lot of things like 'hold hands' and 'buying toys' and stuff...."

Akihito: "But Yasuchika is an adult. So I thought of this idea."

Ibuki: "I think he'll happily accept any toys if it comes from you."

(That's true...)

Yasuchika: "No...that's...hmmm..."

Looks like Yasuchika-san himself couldn't deny that fact.

Akihito: "Then----Yasuchika."

Yasuchika: "....Yes?"

Akihito: "You can call me dad if you want."

Yasuchika: "!?"

Ibuki: "Then, am I the mom?"

Yasuchika: "!?!?"

Akihito: "Well, if I'm marrying Yoshino, shouldn't she be the mom?"

Yoshino: "Mom. Me!? But I'm still.....no wait!"

(Oh my! For a moment, I pictured it along with Yasuchika-san!)

Yoshino: "Don't you think you're going way ahead with your teasing. And Ibuki, don't support him."

Akihito: "----I wasn't teasing."

Yoshino: "What I'm saying is....I don't think it will work?"

Akihito: "Why not? I'm a lot older than you think. I've watched him grow up. I think it will work."

Yasuchika: "It won't work."

Yasuchika-san who seemed to have finally recovered from the shock, denies it.

Yasuchika: "I don't want to be your son."

Akihito: "....Oh."

As if disappointed, Akihito-sama looked like a sad puppy.

(Akihito-sama suddenly becomes clumsy and awkward if Yasuchika-san is involved)

Yasuchika: "Children are supposed to be protected by their parents. But I want to be the one protecting Akihito-sama."

Akihito: "Yasuchika...."

Ibuki: "So this is how the father-son relationship is in the human world."

Ibuki: "In the demon world, parents murder their children every day."

Akihito: "......................."

I looked at Akihito-sama who is silent and interject.

Yoshino: "Umm...E-Even if you don't force yourself to become a father and son, aren't you guys already family?"

Yasuchika and Akihito: "Eh?"

Yoshino: "During the civil war... both Yasuchika-san and Ibuki fought with all their might to save Akihito-sama."

Yoshino: "You all live under one roof and help each other unconditionally and are also happy."

Yoshino: "If you can't call that love or affection, then I don't know what else to call it."

Akihito and Yasuchika: "............"

Ibuki: "By that logic, I'm also a part of this family?"

Yoshino: "At least that's what it looks to me."

Ibuki: "....."

Even Ibuki looked out of tune.

Yoshino: "There was probably a bond between the three of you for a long time."

Yoshino: "No matter how distorted it may be....I believe it is what Akihito-sama and his friends want a 'family' to be like."

Akihito: "....Is that how we look like?"

Yoshino: "Yep."

After thinking for a while, Akihito-sama smiles happily.

Under the dim candlelight, his fingers gently traced the outline of my face.

His face slowly approached.....

Akihito: "I can twist any order in the world to make you smile. Remember that."

(....It's the same. I want to protect Akihito-sama no matter what)

I was filled with sad thoughts and a gradual warmth.

Yoshino: "Then I will live for Akihito-sama's happiness."

Akihito: ".............."

Akihito: "All I want is for you to be there for me."

(Ah)

Akihito-sama slowly slides his fingertips over my bare skin making me tremble even more.

A prodigal numbness goes around the whole body from the waist that is held down.

Akihito: "Please continue to tell me what you see in your beautiful eyes."

Yoshino: "Akihito...sama..."

His long fingers gently cornered me and makes me gasp.

Yoshino: "......Do you want to know the most beautiful thing I see?"

Akihito: "Yes?"

Yoshino: "Hmm...let it be a secret..."

The beautiful calm lake-like azure eyes had a bewitching light.

Akihito: "I will serve you tonight until you tell me.

(....The most beautiful thing....is Akihito-sama)

If he looks into my tearful eyes, he'll surely find out....so I hope he doesn't notice.

Thinking that made me love him even more, and I clung onto Akihito-sama's back....

1.Day one:

Hm... It's quite hard to choose honestly, but here are few I like:

From webcomics: Definitely Tammy from Blindsprings, can you blame me? She is a 300 year old princess, kind, loving and responsible, she got seriously mistreated on a multiple occasions by people that shouldn't had this to her, but she still stays kind and tries to accomplish her duties as high priestess. I've never seen anyone not liking her.

Lumi from Hemlock

Amy from Space Boy webtoon: Even through everything she is going through she is still kind and sweet, she genuinely loves people (even then she will not let bad people hurt her or her loved ones).

Honorary mentions from Georgian literature: All the Georgian literature that I've read has been taught to me by school, so thanks. It's no secret that the Georgian literature is dominated by male writers (The only female poet I can remember from school program is Ana Kalandadze), yet still they've managed to create some well written female characters in my opinion. So here are my favs.

Otaraant widow from the Otaraant Widow:

I loved this story and I still do, it's my favourite written story from Ilia Chavchavadze, I love this story so much that I may one day use necromancy and bring Ilia back to life just to ask him what is Otaraant widow's name? Because why the hell you wouldn't reveal her dang name sir?! I love the dynamic between widow and her son, her character is amazing, from one glance she is mean, she has a very... Sharp tongue, it was shown that it's her method for self-defense and it works, everyone is afraid of her and nobody dares to tell her anything about the fact that she didn't get remarried. This woman is a well off peasant, she works on the soil even though she is woman, she never remarried after the death of her husband that she loved and she single-handedly has raised a good son. She helps people (even though she whines in the process, it's one and only big flaw she has, her sharp tongue). This woman doesn't care if you are rich or poor, she treats everyone equally and most importantly shoe doesn't give a damn what her village thinks, she does whatever she thinks is right. Keep in mind, this was written around late 19th century, it is pretty progressive you know.

Also, she loves her son Giorgi and she noticed the change in his behavior, which means a lot you know.

Elpida "Eli" Gordeliani from the Incantation On The Radio (Small Stream Of Great Wails):

I've probably translated the title in a wrong way but I don't care already.

Oh boy, she is amazing. Eli is like an icon, my sister had crush on her when she read this novella (It's her words, not mine), my girl classmates were all interested in the story and were really sympathetic of Eli and her struggles. I do understand how you can not like her as character, but calling her a passive character is a sin. I am going to talk about it in other post that I'll call "bad literature takes: Georgian edition".

You know, I stopped relating to characters long time ago, I love reading stories not because I could see myself or the reality I live in it, but because I want to get away from them and see what could've been. I did use to relate to Mabel Pines as 12 year old. If it helps I also was compared to Lilo from Lilo and Stitch and honestly, I relate to her, it's way too familiar, because I was like her as a kid, perhaps less disobedient but the part where she is alienated from the kids but still refers to them as her friends hits home, also I was sensitive and definitely had similar hair style as kid.

sorry but shun and sellon's dynamic just has me by the pussy. shun's whole appeal isn't that he's a cool stoic number one ninja boy it's that all that is a front because he doesn't know how to fucking deal with his emotions, bottles it all up, and does stupid shit before he's saved/stopped by the people around him. he tries to stop time so shiori wouldn't die which dan has to talk him out of, he tries to go after dan in the doom dimension alone which the brawlers insist against, he tries to stay with fake shiori in the doom dimension which skyress has to fucking die for him to realize is a bad idea, he battles against hairdee's clones and almost gets overwhelmed before he's saved by komba. his love and respect for the people around him makes him do stupid shit because he doesn't know how to deal with it, and that part of what makes his character interesting is largely absent from seasons 2 and 3 but surprisingly makes a comeback in s4 with sellon.

sellon isn't the first character who pays special attention or takes a liking to shun - komba and maron exist. but she's the first one where it isn't played as a joke or a gag or anything of the like. she genuinely admires him, is portrayed as an equal by the narrative, and it's made explicit that they're alike no matter how much shun likes to deny it. she provides legitimate advice and shun comes to respect her too, which makes her betrayal so much better and so much more fun. because he gets soooooo mad! her betrayal is so much more personal to him than it is anything that he fucks up and now they can't escape interspace! it's fucking hilarious!

new vestroia and misogyny, part one

season two of bakugan starts a trend that would persist until the end of the series, namely the cutting down of the main female cast from three to one, and eventually to none by the second arc of the fourth season. here i break down the misogyny behind this writing choice, most especially in new vestroia, and how it all boils down to one thing: toy sales.

part 2 of this will cover how new vestroia’s writing has affected its more active female characters as well as how the relationship between the gender binary and the toy market extended to bakugan’s toy packaging.

despite the large number of the fandom being comprised of AFABs, bakugan is a shounen anime and as a result has always been more geared towards a male audience. bakugan is also a show that was created to sell toys, and the show is its biggest advertisement. by putting two and two together, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that the toys are also geared towards young boys.

the gender binary has always played a big role in how toys are sold and advertised. from auster and manbach (2012), research has long shown that girls and parents of girls will be more inclined to dabble in masculine and gender-neutral things than boys and parents of boys would in feminine things:

Hi!! I know it's been a while, but I hope you are doing well!! (I was visiting family and then working and literally had no time for fandom stuff, but anyways...)

So! Something that I've been thinking about is what was Nancy's goals with the newspaper story in season 3? Like what was she trying to accomplish in her article? I don't think it's unfair to say that Nancy was solely pursuing the story to prove herself to her bosses, but what was her article attempting to accomplish for the public? That there are rats behaving strangely and eating fertilizer? I've literally summed up the issue in a singular sentence. What more did Nancy have after the initial investigation? And how is that enough to write an article on? She didn't even think of reporting the rats to the health authorities until after her initial story got rejected. I guess what I'm trying to ask here is what was in Nancy's initial article? Because even fluffing it up with how the rats were behaving, what type of rat, the type of fertilizer they were eating, possible explanations for their behavior, even then, I can't imagine the article being that long. And I guess what bothers me is that she doesn't even consider calling any authorities on the rats. (I mean there is reason not to trust the government, but even then, it's an entirely different branch, and this is not something Nancy and Jonathan can necessarily find out by themselves and Nancy suggests this after her story gets rejected so we can argue that it didn't even cross her mind to report it. And yes, animal control likely wouldn't have done anything if they were normal rats, but these are clearly agitated rats and a potential risk to human health, some department would have been obligated to investigate. ANYWAYS)

Like something that bothers me is that until season 4, the characters in the show have no reason to believe that any strange happening in the show is related to the Upside Down. After season 1, they knew that the gates and the Upside Down were still there but they had no reason to worry about it or that it would resurface in a way that would involve them. After season 2, the gates were sealed and the lab was shut down. They would have no reason to believe it would return again after that. And also, the Upside Down manifests differently every single time. It was the demogorgan in season 1. Tunnels and the Mindflayer acting through Will in season 2. The mindflayer trying to get a physical form through the rats in season 3. And timing wise, they could believe that the Upside Down acted up through November and October. So it would be unexpected to resurface in July. The reason why I brought this all up is because in season 3, Nancy has no reason to believe that strange rats equals the Upside Down. She was looking into that story out of pure desire to prove her bosses wrong, which isn't wrong! But it is not nearly as altruistic as people like to think.

ohhh that is very true tho like what are her motivations for this coming out? the public wouldn’t care about some rats and it’s not like it was part of a company’s fault that they were dying. like a company didn’t test on rats and they’re dying but the company still is selling said product that is killing rats. nothing is harming the actual public unlike what the lab was doing in season 2 and prior. yeah the article wouldn’t be long at all and like the public would pick it up and just think that the publisher was weird for writing an article on this because there’s no purpose. of course there is purpose in the show but the town does not know this. at least in season 2 her article and what she had to write about was exposing the lab for the harm that they had done to her friend and. bunch of other people. however the rats outside of the UD doesn’t show any harm to people whatsoever. yeah like they could have gotten some authorities involved like even trying to go to hopper but the two of them don’t even try to get in contact with hopper sooo it’s like they see something weird happening and can’t explain it but also don’t say anything to hopper the chief of police who knows about the UD or even joyce. they don’t even try to go to them despite the fact that they very much know something is wrong.

yeah that is very true like they never truly know that something strange can be related/traced to the UD. if they went down the ‘they’re so traumatized so they automatically believe it’s the UD without concrete evidence’ then i can see why they believe it. but it’s also like they don’t even try to go down that angle at all. it’s just them believing it’s the UD each and every time! hell even before season 4 they did shut the gates and they believe hopper died. like that’s what happens before season 4 and it’s still always them jumping to conclusions. honestly that’s the whole show ngl 😭😭 yeah like there was no reason to think that it would resurface in july (which is why i always get mad at people blaming steve and dustin but it’s mainly steve for getting robin and erica involved because how the hell were they supposed to know about any of this shit? ) but exactly about that last lines about nancy!!

What do you think will happen with chenford during the 4B since it is likely being reworked due to bad ratings and executive orders?

first of all, anon – i want to apologize because i am sure your intention with sending this message was just to ask my take and i appreciate that! but i know that i'm going to talk a lot here and probably sound a little angry and that is not at all directed at you. i have been frustrated with this line of thinking for a hot minute and honestly, you're just giving me the platform to discuss it a bit further.

i truly hate to break this to you and a lot of the fandom, but unfortunately that is not how television works at all. the writers/creative team are not "reworking" the back half of the season because of ratings (which are, for all intents and purposes, not actually that low, and not something used to make change on a story-level unless there is something incredibly problematic going on) or "executives"...the executives have already approved the trajectory of the season, they're not now coming in and hemming and hawing about numbers.

i think this is important to note, though -- there are two cardinal issues with this line of thinking.

1: the overall story of a season is broken long before the season is written.

yes, things can shift based on a lot of factors (actor availability, budget, viewership climate, etc.) but for the most part...the story the creative team (which is comprised of show runner and writers) is looking to tell is set before the writing for the season starts. the story of season 4, both halves, has been laid out since like, the end of june/beginning of july. sure, tweaks have been made, but the larger story is approved by the network and -- outside of incredibly extenuating circumstances -- does not change heavily.

ratings influence advertisers more than anything else. poor ratings are not dictating story points, they are (for the most part) letting the network know what sort of ads they should place during the program block. for example: during the live broadcasting of the rookie, i tend to see a lot of local/smaller scale ads. this tells me that larger/more expensive ads (purely for example, from a company like coca-cola) aren't being placed in a sunday at 10pm time slot because they wouldn't have the same level of pull/influence as say, thursday at 8 pm. ad placement is boring, tbh, but genuinely that is one of the largest uses of network ratings other than scheduling...it has a lot less to do with renewal than we as viewers would imagine, and nothing to do with the layout of a story.

2: online fandom dictates literally 0.001% of the decisions in a writer's room -- and it should be that way, honestly.

the creative team has a really interesting job in that they need to ignore the noise of online fandom a lot of the time in order to preserve/tell the story they've laid out...which is why you don't see writers interacting with online fandom a lot of the time, even though they probably would like to! the creative team knows the characters best. they know the story as a whole. they know where they'd like them to end up.

i'd also like to make it clear: the things that online fandom are typically complaining about re: chenford are intentional choices being made by the creative team. chenford are being treated like a standard slow burn right now -- they're working closely together, having intimate conversations, coming to a point where they are clearly, openly equals...the writers are showing us the depth of their relationship, ensuring the foundation of that relationship outside of them being rookie and t.o. is very clearly established before they move into a romantic space. the creative team of this show knows better than anyone that rushing chenford is the wrong move -- because as much as we all want them to be together, the second that they are, the entire dynamic is going to be different. while this is fun to explore in spaces like fanfiction, it would be trickier to navigate on screen -- the amount of time we would be able to see chenford together would be cut down significantly, given this is a workplace procedural and they very clearly wouldn't be breaking protocol to let chenford date/work together, etc. so moving at a snail's pace? while it can be frustrating for some, it's the best choice to make the most out of the ship/storyline, and capitalize on eric/melissa's chemistry. i am confident in saying that the writers are happy with how this is progressing -- that they are clearly, purposefully making these story choices.

one more note on this -- at this point, the idea of them retooling an entire quarter of a season isn't even plausible from a timing standpoint. they're coming back in january filming 4x15, which means the writers room is likely up to about 4x19 script being finalized and in pre-production. the writing happens so much earlier than the show is filmed -- there is a ton of work that comes between the script being written/finalized and the actual show being filmed, so the writers are typically a hell of a lot further ahead than we as viewers realize.

all of that being said...they're not shifting around the story to make changes because of fandom noise or ratings. they're sticking to their guns and going with the plan they've had the entire time -- a plan that alexi clearly believes in/believes we will enjoy, given his recent post-mortems. i know alexi can be a touchy subject for this fandom, but his words really do not read anything other than positive/optimistic, for me.

at the end of the day, i don't know how i think chenford is going to play out for the rest of this season. i think we've clearly seen them getting closer throughout the first half -- they've broken a boundary of physical touch that i, genuinely, did not think we'd see broached until later this season...and so i think that trajectory is going to continue. we're going to see them continue to insert themselves into each other's personal lives, grow closer, and by the end of the season, maybe we will see a toe being dipped into the romantic pool. i'm happy with how things are going, though, so honestly? i'm not holding my breath right now...i'm just happy to see how it plays out and stay hopeful for next season/season six*. i hope this wasn't too insane of an answer lmao i just know i've seen a lot of misinformation going around about the likelihood of this and it's just...not how the entertainment industry works, at all. happy to continue discussing this if you have questions, though! i clearly enjoy the topic enough to babble about it 😂

*just a note for those who are unaware: shows are typically sold to networks with a six-season plan (that changes, too, just so that info isn't worrisome)...so unless the rookie starts doing absolutely abysmal in several areas/getting panned, i wouldn't be surprised to see the show last for a six season run.

Q&A about my practice because why not?

From an experienced practitioner to anyone reading new or expert.

You're welcome to take these and make you're own answers. Feel free to ask me anything I don't mention here.

1-Are you pagan, a witch, or wiccan? I am pagan first, witch second. I try to avoid wicca as much as possible but Garnder practically had a chokehold on spiritualism so i'm not going to be perfect.

2-Are you solitary or part of a coven? I'm solitary, I prefer to take things at my own pace.

3-What type of witch are you? I used to think witch types bared a level of importance but as i got into it it was hard to keep up with the labelling and in the end it felt pointless. i don't want to restrict myself to a type of witchcraft. IMO you're either a witch or you're not.

4-When did you start practicing? I was raised pagan but my parents chose to keep it casual and let their kids decide for themselves when they were old enough. I was 15 when I decided I wanted to get into paganism and witchcraft on my own.

5-What drew you to it? I always had special interests in mythology, monsters, and fantasy so it probably started there. I had books growing up on gods and goddesses and Celtic fairy tales that I still have to this day.

6-Do you work with/worship anything? I worship the Hellenic gods: Apollo, Hermes, and Dionysus. Although their presence is a comfort in my life I wouldn't consider it working with or call any of them my patron.

7-Why do you work with/worship them in particular? These gods have their own individual things they bring to the table that I wanted to improve in my own life. Dionysus is about expressing my androgyny and artistic expression, Apollo is about practice, skill and diligence and Hermes is about communication between these two and physical health.

At first is was just me and Dionysus but as my worship grew to accommodate all three it started to remind me of my own dynamic between me and my brothers, Dionysus and I both being the youngest.

8-Are there other parts of the craft you're interested in? As all of us do I like nature, so I develop that connection and appreciation through cooking, foraging and taking care of plants (ferns are my favourite). I'm also interested in Irish/Celtic paganism because I want to learn more from my cultural heritage and because a lot of modern witchcraft as we see it today was taken from Celtic paganism.

9-What's your altar/space like? My space is currently just my bedroom. I'm still living with family so it's the only space I have that's 100% mine. My altar currently doubles as my vanity, I keep the gods and my tarot cards and big crystals and candles on it with a trolley underneath that I keep my miscellaneous tools in.

10-What was your first "witchy" book? I've had this book since i was a baby and i still read it because it's too beautiful to get rid of. The Changeling by Malachy Doyle and Jack Jones.

11-What's a book you recommend everyone read? The Witch by Ronald Hutton. It's a long read but it's a concise book featuring multiple different historical perspectives of witches and magic.

12-What's your favourite tool to use? I love all my tools equally but i particularly like my wand, an iron fire poker i found on ebay, it's very plain and simple but it does the trick and makes the space feel more well rounded as well as protected.

13-What's your favourite time to practice? Sunrise or sunset. I'm an early bird and i like the peace and quite because my neighbours make a lot of noise every other time of day and I like the in-between/grey/transitional areas but i'm not entirely sure why.

14-What's your favourite holiday? Samhain! With my family every holiday is celebrated with some kind of food (like spring equinox it's quiche, Beltain it's honey loaf) But food wise Samhain is where it's at! because it's the end of the harvest season everything tastes better and there's so many dishes to choose from.

15-What season(s) connects with your practice the most? Autumn and winter. Maybe it's because Dionysus likes Yule or that i'm spending more time inside but the cold season is when i feel most connected. The colours are beautiful, the food is amazing, and it's rain season for me so i get more chances to relax.

16-What do you think of light/dark magic? I don't believe in light or dark magic, magic is magic. I find that polarisation is just a way for people to flex their moral ego and I can't help but feel uncomfortable at the racist purity undertones.

17-What do you think of hexing? I'm neutral/semi-pro about hexing. Again because the moral compass being a thing to flex feels dodgy. I say don't go hexing just because you want to take your feelings out on someone you don't like, only if they deserve it. I would do the same if I had your level of patience.

18-What do you like about the witchcraft community? Controversial opinion but I actually like the aesthetic. I love all the cool pictures of forests and baked bread and moths and messy eclectic altar spaces. I think it's pretty and I'm a little jealous.

19-What do you not like the witchcraft community? I don't appreciate how gendered a lot of things still are. I never understood how somethings are feminine or masculine especially in nature. things like divine feminine/divine masculine would be nothing without modern interpretations of gender. those interpretations are arbitrary and subjective so what basis do we really have for calling one thing feminine and another masculine?

20-What was a mistake you made at the beginning of your practice that you regret now? I used to think chakra was just a simple witchy thing anyone can do if they have the right rocks. I was dumb and disrespectful and ignorant about Buddhism. There's way more to it that just pretty rocks and meditation and i have no right to talk about something i know nothing about.
