Thanks for the ask, @jedimasterbailey ! I’ll see if I can not be long winded because this is a lot!

💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?

I think my best is Sundari Lament. I put a lot of polishing to make that a satisfying story and the narrative took on a life of its own. It made itself better almost despite myself.

But I think my favorite is From Uncanny to Concordance. It’s short but I loved writing it and it came out saying exactly what I wanted to express. I also have a lot of fondness for Jedi: Dropout.

🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

I am very happy with the art I commissioned for Sundari Lament and fan art I received for Let’s Call It Love. The one moment I would love to get fanart for that I haven’t yet is this one quick scene in Lavender and Chartreuse involving a bathrobe drawstring. I think it’s one of the most sensual things I’ve written.

🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?

Barriss is my muse so she’s up there. I also love writing for Satine Kryze. She’s so inspiring. I also love writing Anakin and Padmé, which is weird because you’d think it would be so hard since Star Wars can’t seem to sell it well. I love writing undervalued characters like Raffa and Trace Martez and Tepoh.

🦈 Which character is the toughest to write?

One I haven’t yet written for: Luthen Rael. I have a scene in my head and a lot of the dialogue. But Andor is so well written I am intimidated. How can I do better that the “I have made my mind a sunless place” speech?

🚦What sort of endings do you prefer to write: ambiguous, bad, happily ever after, etc.?

I kind of like ambiguous endings best. Who knows what happens after The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Barriss Offee? Even some of my happy endings can expand. I’m sure things remain rocky after Heart of Kyber, for instance.

📚 Is there a fanfic or fanfic writer you recommend?

I know so many good writers! There’s @jedimasterbailey @airlockfailure @kalevalakryze @machinerismsx @greenflower21 @archduke42 @kaaragen and @frogblast-the-ventcore is just starting out. As far as fics Across the Frozen Sea is very sweet and influenced my work a lot, especially Jedi: Dropout. the moments when we smile and those in between is maybe my favorite fic so far. Tum Durare Solum/ How the Earth Began to Harden is very good and I want to read where it goes. And of course @bluedeedeedoop ‘s fabric store Barrisoka AU Me and you and awkward silence...

I quietly have a thing for Foxiyo and Playing in the Perception Pool and Invictus are my favorites in that department. Invictus really inspired my fic Inferno. I know I’m leeaving writers and good works out rn, too! Coming Home to You is so good as is Body and Soul by @morose-magnetrix

💥 What is one canon thing that you wish you could change?

Look, I’m a simple fan. I just want to know what happened to Barriss. If she was executed right after The Wrong Jedi ended I’ll say that sucks and move on but at least I’ll know. I’m glad Dave changed the original ending where she blew herself up. That would have been too far with the character assassination. And would have made even more mess in the Legends canon since she already had an established death in 2013. If there’s not going to be any more Barriss content just tell us and we’ll write it. I just want closure.

Hi everyone,

Sorry it’s been so long, I’ve been having some writers block. I’ve been trying to work on the block by drawing some fanart that I’ll post on my main @mabrego0714

Here are my WIPs I’m working on IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER so comment/reblog if you have a preference:

—Arcane Sisters of Mine fic Chapter 5

—Bad Batch AU—Jedi OC

—Game of Thrones/Jungle Book crossover

—Clone Wars Clone One-Shots (Day in the Life Of series, Shinies, etc)

—Delta Squad Reader Insert fic

I actually started getting writers block around the midpoint of Ahsoka. I hadn’t really had high hopes but it really fell short for me. I won’t get into it in this post, but because of my dissatisfaction with the show, my faith in Disney Star Wars has fallen. While I did think Rebels was more ‘kid-oriented’ at first, I didn’t hate it and I even grew to love it as a young adult (iirc Rebels is Disney’s first SW content). The Sequel trilogy should’ve been a wake up call.

Then, Clone Wars Season 7 was announced. I thought the animation was beautiful (aside from the horrendous clone model), and the soundtrack/music is incredible. That being said, I have some major problems with the story(ies). I liked the ideas but not the execution.

The Bad Batch’s intro is a perfect example.

It’s clear that the group is quite different in CW S7 than in their own show (which I won’t get into rn since those that have seen my previous posts know I hate tbb). In TCW, they are introduced as a unique clone squad that all have enhanced senses. They are shown to be disobedient and disconnected from the other clones, which makes absolutely no sense. They appear different to the ‘regular’ clones who have a derogatory nickname of ‘regs’. Their mission is to save a ‘reg’ clone who we (the audience) thought was dead: ARC Trooper Echo.

We see Rex’s loyalty to his men through his faith that Echo is alive. Despite being clones, Rex KNOWS the sound of Echo’s voice because of how long he’s served with him. Because of their prejudices, The Batch is skeptical and Crosshair, the sniper, even taunts Rex about Echo’s death. Despite being in the wrong, Wrecker, CF99’s weapons expert and largest of the group, defends Crosshair and attacks Jesse for defending Rex. That clearly set up a good group character arc of learning that all clones are brothers, not just the ones closest to you. At the end of Echo’s story, we learn that CF99 offers him to join the squad and he accepts (despite the group looking down on Echo and judging him once rescuing him).

We don’t learn until TBB that what little progress, if any, towards having a good relationship with clones is gone.

Next we learn about where Ahsoka’s been since walking away from The Jedi Order. It’s assumed she’s been hiding on the lower levels of Coruscant surviving. Her story opens with her speeder bike dying and her falling onto a garage platform belonging to the Martez sisters. Lots of people dislike the Martez sisters story arc due to their attitudes and behaviors. While I don’t hate them like a lot in the fandom seem to, they aren’t my favorite characters and I thought there were a lot of better stories that could’ve been told with Ahsoka.

That brings me to Ahsoka’s character. I get that people change over time and she was obviously still hurt by the Jedi Order, specifically the Council, but I didn’t like how easily she partnered with Bo Katan in the finale and sided with her cause given Bo’s history. She easily dismissed her relationship with Anakin (and Rex to an extent) despite her recognizing everything he did for her. But other than that, I loved Ahsoka meeting/fighting Darth Maul and the O66 moment for her and Rex was so tragic.

I loved the clones but I thought one person would’ve made it next level good: Kix, the 501st medic. I know in Legends he was frozen in carbonite/hypersleep or something and was woken up by pirates about 50-60yrs later, making him the last clone since the others have accelerated aging (aside from Boba/Omega). But I would’ve loved to see Kix either with Ahsoka and her 501st half or at least mentioned about being with Anakin and his 501st half.

So while I generally enjoy CW S7, I definitely prefer making my own interpretation and looking at fan-made art/stories.

Because I enjoyed the animation and music of CW S7, I was excited to see another show that has the same animation about clones: The Bad Batch. This is definitely one of those shows that has great ideas but the execution actually hurts it. They are shown to have lighter skin than the rest of the darker ‘regular’ clones and they all think they are superior to the other clones but especially Crosshair. Again, I won’t get into it, but TBB is a dumpster fire of racism and horrible story telling.

I definitely prefer the live action shows, but even then it’s hit or miss. Like I said, OWK and Ahsoka fell short for me. However I love Andor, Mando and TBoBF.

Which finally brings me to the upcoming Star Wars content animated and live action. SPOILERS—YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

First, the Mandalorian movie. I’m more hesitant about this movie despite my love for the show but that’s mostly because of Ahsoka. I didn’t like how Ahsoka was handled and because it left on a cliff hanger, I’m sure it’ll tie into the Mandalorian movie with Thrawn probably taking the role of the villain. I don’t think I really have any expectations other than it’s not bad, though Felony will helm the project so I’m not holding my breath.

Second, the Rey Skywalker movie. I definitely think Disney knows how badly they messed up with the sequel trilogy and will try and redeem Rey’s character. I think it’s an interesting premise. She knows Luke, who had a failed Jedi school, and she chooses to do the same, knowing it could fail like Luke’s but chooses to do it anyway. I’d love for this movie to show a new villain instead of Palpatine/Sith. I could see more Dark Jedi or even Night Sister magic being the main conflict instead.

Next, the James Mangold Star Wars movie. Supposedly it’s set thousands of years in the past and will focus on the first Jedi. I think that’s an interesting topic and a great chance to form new ideas as well as bring in Legends/EU content. However, with the mixed reviews of Indiana Jones 5, I’m tempering my expectations accordingly.

I know Taika Waititi has a Star Wars movie coming out as well but idk anything about it other than he wants to have original characters (which I think is good).

I think Shawn Levy has a Star Wars movie coming but again, no details about it since he’s been busy with Stranger Things S5 and Deadpool 3.

I believe Rian Johnson also has a trilogy set in a new place the lore has never explored before but I don’t think this trilogy is coming any time soon.

I believe that’s it for movies so over all I’m hesitant, but that’s because I need more info.

Now for the shows. I’ll start with the new ones.

Lando will obviously focus on Lando Calrissian played by Donald Glover. There’s no info about any idea of when the series will take place but I kinda hope it’s like right before the sequel trilogy.

Skeleton Crew has a good concept of a Jedi in hiding finding 4 Jedi kids and as long as it doesn’t get too family friendly and the writing is good I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. I’ve always thought this was the story they should’ve told with the Jedi Younglings in TCW arc.

The Acolyte is about the growing dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era (~200yrs before TPM). It seems like a noir-detective style show (like AotC) with a Master/Padawan duo investigating a series of crimes. It seems pretty cool and I’m excited for it.

I’m hoping Mandalorian S4 will be better than S3. I really want Din to call Grogu his son. Not his kid, not his boy, but his SON. SAY IT.

Definitely looking forward to Andor S2 the most. I thought Andor was slow at first and a bit complicated due to how many characters are introduced, but I loved the story and the actors had the passion that made their roles believable.

I could not care less about The Bad Batch S3. No matter what happens, I definitely prefer fandom ideas/my own headcanons. I MIGHT binge watch the season once all eps are out but I will NOT be watching on episode release days.

That brings me to the planned animated Clone Rebellion show. I’m assuming it’ll be the same CW style set after TBB S3 and focus on Rex (and possibly Wolffe+Gregor) which leads me to believe we won’t get much in the way of the clone rebellion in TBB S3. If this show uses the same damn clone model I will cut out Disney Star Wars. I don’t mind making my own stories/AU’s/etc, but Disney in general is on thin ice as it is.

Thanks for letting me get all that out. This is basically why I haven’t been writing. I’ve been pretty disappointed with Disney as of late due to their horrible live action remakes, mid-level animated movies like Elemental, Strange World, Lightyear and mediocre SW content.

Hunter and Omega: she’s just little enough that he could carry her on his back, stoop over and pass her off as a very lumpy hunchback

Kanan and Ezra: they fool no one. Kanan’s just going with the story that he’s a humanoid with four legs, mind your business.

It’s just that… at the start of Treasure Planet, Sarah’s saying how much she keeps thinking she’ll open her eyes and see her son coming home with a strange pet and begging her to let him keep it and then he comes in, framed by a thunderstorm, a troubled boy trying to help a dying man and that sets him off on a whole adventure and when he comes home, he’s learned so much and grown and he’s truly a young man and he hugs his mother and shows her a strange pet he wants to keep and it’s just… it’s beautiful.

I just saw a fanart of Kix after he was frozen and a idea pop up in my head.

What if Kix would meet Luke or Leia maybe both?

He would absolutely figured it out that they are the kids of his old jedi general like every clone from the 501st knew that Anikan was in a relationship with Senator Amidala. So Kix wouldn't even be shocked. He would just say something like "I knew it that he would get kids at some point but can you tell me everything 'cause i was kinda frozen in carbonite before the war end."

Luke or Leia would tell him everything. That Anikan turned to Darth Vader and how the clones also turned and emperor Palpatine. Kix would feel so guilty because he nearly found out about the chips and because he didn't found it out faster so many of his brothers died.

But the twins would also tell him how rex fought the empire and their would also arrange a meeting with ahsoka which ended in many tears and hugs.

2.) Is there a trope you’ve yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

World-Between-Worlds resurrections. I’ve done WBW fic, I’ve done resurrection fic, but I’ve never used the WBW for a resurrection.

10.) Which fic has been the easiest to write?

Several of my stories were easy! teacup, which is a very short response fic to Adam Driver’s latest turn on SNL, took little effort; it was only 800 words long and I was running on an extreme endorphin high because Adam Driver was on SNL!!!

In terms of impact-to-effort ratio, one fic that was easier than it looks is on arkanis it rains every day, aka my Jakku!Hux story.

14.) What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?

I used to have writing mentors who were particularly aggressive about description. They claimed that the only reliable way to engage your readers was via painful painstaking physical description. It can’t just be a wall, it has to be an edifice with mottled bricks that scrape your hands like twice-frozen snow.

To be fair, physical description is a powerful tool. But it is just one tool, and there are plenty of ways to entertain your readers that don’t involve detailing every shadowed curl in a room’s crown moulding.

Long live context-free dialogue.

15.) If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

Ah, this one’s tough, and I thought way too long about this. Here goes…

I initially considered my time-travel Kylux longfic, but so much of the drama goes down in Hux’s head that it might make for lousy cinema. This leaves me with three choices:

- If it was being filmed just for me/out of the Star Wars context, the Jakku!Hux AU. There’s a lot of potentially striking visuals (just look at this stunning fanart by @dark-london!), and cinema would bring the setting and atmosphere to life.

- If it was being filmed as a SW fan film… I might make aggressive negotiations. It’s a particularly provocative Kylux take on TRoS (and I don’t mean provocative in a sexual sense, though the sex is in there). I have a lot of ideas in that fic, and cinema could be a great new medium for them!

- If it was being filmed as actual official SW content, probably Reylo+Baby Yoda. In order to get to this, DLF would have to resurrect Ben and set Reylo up for a happy-ever-after, addressing some of my main concerns with TRoS.

29.) If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

…I’d write the sequel to The Last Jedi, by Rian Johnson.

You have all read my observations and opinions on Frozen and Frozen 2 and yes there, have been times I've put my foot in my mouth! So please allow me to say this about myself.

I am passionately a fan of Frozen since I first saw the movie and the shorts in late 2018. Mostly because of a lady and her granddaughter who used to live in mine and my sister's house until recently. You can guess what happened next. I connected and fell in love with Anna and Elsa and felt the connections with my own life's journey with it's issues. I joined Pinterest and Tumblr to see all of the great fanart and fiction as well as keep tabs on F2's progress.

Recently, I got caught up with the controversy with ending spoilers here. I have since blocked those individuals so their toxic BS can go elsewhere, not pison me and drag my name in the slime pit of their own making.

That aside, I first want to recommend a read from another Tumblr member that sums up the first part I was going to say, yet sums it up better than could say;

Now, second. I have been told that if I open letter tweet Jennifer Lee, creator of the Frozen stories with an objection with the ending, I'm a bully. I have had my own experience with bullies, even before the internet. It seems like we have those who throw labels like "bully, misogynist, racist, sexist,etc.," around willy-nilly just to bully those who don't agree with our own opinions. For the record, I will be seeing Frozen 2 when it comes out and I will have an open mind. I will also have a guarded optimism. I was trying to find the YouTube channel's video on the history of Star Wars Fans' "The Fandom Menace," which was born out of the last 2 movies, "The Last Jedi' and "Solo," which enraged fans with third wave WOKE feminism and other political, man-hating messages, which totally wrecked the franchise and bombed the latter movie.

So is my fear with Frozen 2. I would love to see that if either this is the end or a new chapter, that in one way or another, the things from Frozen 1 will carry over, even as the characters of Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff, grow to that next level, without having Elsa all-of-a-sudden, just plain bail out on Anna totally. Apart or together in Arendelle, their deep, deep love, forged from the fires of the 13 years prior and Anna's Sacrifial and forgiving love fir her sister, Elsa, is just thrown to the scrapyard for the sake of Elsa becoming the selfush, self-centered "Snow Queen" wher the magic's allure has run her over to shallow narcissism. No, not acceptable.

I do reserve the right to open letter/tweet my opinion to Jen and the rest on my thoughts, good or bad, about Frozen 2, once I have seen the film. If good, then kudos and praise is what I'll give overwhelmingly. If it ends like Ralph Breaks The Internet, then i will say my peace, and also sever with anything Disney and encourage others to do likewise. As long as I have lived, the brand "Disney" meant lovable characters and quality family entertainment. But I also know that Disney has changed, some of it, not for the better. (Long-short, I don't drink the pixie dust flavored Kool-aid. I call BS when I see it)

Elsa outfit details from the new Frozen 2 trailer for cosplay/fanart reference:

- Outercoat has belt, shoulder...things that lead to two smaller separate capes on the back, large snowflake detail in the middle of her shoulderblades. The shoulderpiece looks to be a separate bit on top of the coat, and the coat is partially backless - not really a hole so much as a fade?

- Tall heeled boots with snowflake details.

- Details around the bottom of the pants which aren’t going to be relevant unless you’re cosplaying her barefoot.

- Top has no clear separation between outfit and skin; skin-colored bodysuit painted over would be ideal (like what ice skaters wear?)

- Rosemailing and belt-like details at the waist.

- The top goes into a sheer skirt section that’s cut all the way up to the waist, with the pants being a separate piece underneath. 

- The skirt has lines around the edges - the best way I could think to describe it would be sort of like a mermaid tail? It does look mermaid-y if you get her at the right angle.

Apologies for the lack of technical terms. I just really wanted some references pics so I could start working some of this into my jedi Elsa cosplay and I figured other people might too.
