If people believed in NFTs, a nonsense concept made up to scam people, you can believe in a better world, a reachable concept capitalists who are scamming you WANT you to think is nonsense.

the fact of the matter is that given the current state of both the art industry and the legal landscape of copyright/ip law, there will not ever be legislation around AI image generation that restricts companies while benefiting independent artists. rather than pushing for formal legal weigh-ins on what does or does not qualify as theft by generative outputs (i still think there could be something to be said about what companies are legally allowed to input into their generative models) we really just need to continue to. well. use our brains.
i may be in the minority in that i believe there are plenty of ways to use generative models as a tool in your artistic process (rather than being a replacement for an artistic process) that doesn't infringe on the work or livelihood of your fellow artists. and rather than wasting energy on trying to shove this genie back into the bottle, which, will not ever happen, we should work on publicly discussing where these boundaries lie. and we should also, without question, continue giving major shit to companies who are using AI generated images to avoid paying artists.

Does Tumblr know that Reddit retconned all Reddit Gold, Silver, and other awards last month (even the $50+ ones, introduced only a few years ago), and deleted all Reddit Coins (the currency used to purchase awards) from everyone's accounts, ending with an ominous message about the site "heading in a new direction," then finally came out with a new system where the site will pay you $1 per Reddit Gold so long as you adhere to a YouTube-tier restrictive monetization policy and accumulate at least 10 within a year?
Site's going down the shitter. Thank god the monetization system is comically difficult to profit off of (keep in mind that gold costs several real world dollars on the viewer's end, and must be given willingly), if it was something actually viable the site would be flooded with algorithmic slop (which it already kind of is, but the bot problem is manageable assuming a sub's moderators actually give a shit/are still active)
(oh and btw they did try NFTs a year or two and it quite predictably bombed)

I used to repost this regularly on Twitter whenever someone broke this rule, so time to do it here too since I notice folks on here doing it as well.
Reminder to properly someone to make sure they're not a bigot, a crypto shill or a fascist weirdo before you start endorsing, promoting or reblogging their work! It takes all of five seconds and is worth it every time.

So a lot of people are completely disillusioned by modern tech. Where it used to hold a promise for a bright future, it now casts a shadow of worry.

Remember Me concept 1 & 2
So this was an attempt to recreate a character from one of my (currently) unpublished short stories called Remember Me -- a dark and edgy ghost story about a drug-fueled college girl alone in her haunted dorm room at a Catholic school in DC. I probably won't be using these images (2 more unique versions of this (different girls) are available with a premium download on my AnomalousDesigns deviant art account; subscribers of my $1 tier get premium downloads for free), but I do plan on eventually publishing the short story as an NFT. What image(s) I'll end up using or creating for that, I'm still not sure. But I hope to create rarities with the ebook and have a variety of scenes from the story represented. This first handful likely won't make the cut. (This is one of two posts with 3 concepts for this character (6 total), both posts are titled "Remember Me concept" and have bonus images for premium downloads.) -z

you would've thought it would be easy to avoid using/propagating high school bully type mockery even if the words "NFT" or "AI" or "tiktok" are attached. on the queer disabled neurodivergent site. and yet and goddamn yet
it's so transparent that whenever some new Bad Thing comes out and it's tumblr's topic of discussion for the week most people don't know/care/care to learn about its actual harmful effects and just want to use it as a way to find socially acceptable people to bully (for low hanging fruit i.e. reactionary reasons)
