I am speechless.

My post about hateful AO3 spam comment bots is barely 2 days old and then I find this in my inbox.

I'm pretty sure this too is a bot, but just in case there's any sort of human being involved in this: I am not interested and do not consent to any of my works being made into NFTs or, while I'm at it, fed into shitty AIs or anything of this sort. If any of you use my works for such purposes, you are doing so against my explicit wishes and without my consent that you need in order for it to be legal. You have been warned.

To my fellow fan creators: Do not respond to such messages. Report, block, delete.

NFTs have been a complete and utter failure, and many people have lost tons of money - a truth that even the most deluded optimistic NFT fans have had to accept. If you need further information on this, I recommend this video by Folding Ideas on YouTube.

trying to explain to non artist family members how dangerous ai art and nfts are is so frustrating.

it’s not funny or neutral even to use ai art. It actively fucks up my future and my job, I have to watermark things and do my best to keep my community small so I don’t get my shit stolen (which it has been!) or replicated by some stupid ai. I hate being talked down to because people view artists or those interested in art as little kids that haven’t outgrown it yet. I’m not a toddler, I know what I’m talking about and it’s so annoying that nobody will listen. Ai art and nfts wouldn’t exist without human input to begin with, and it won’t exist in the future if we take all the creativity out of it. It doesn’t exist to be profitable, it exists to show emotions and love that no computer or program will ever be able to replicate with authenticity.

A person with a (popular, overused) Picrew pfp, a person with a Bored Ape NFT pfp, and a person with an anime pfp, are all placed in the same room and are forced to argue.

How would it play out?

Edit: Apparently I'm not the only one who used to have Picrew pfps, before eventually moving on and getting an actual personality. I wonder how many other people share that same story.

Truth be told, when I had Picrews, I used to base my personality mostly off of stale trans community in-jokes and boring, by-the-book political views.

Now I'm very jaded and cynical towards those things; where going all "nya-nya UwU, nya-nya lesbian catgirl; I <3 programming socks and Ikea shark" begins to feel more like meaningless conformism rather than some grand act of queer liberation.

(Now my personality is MLP and the music I listen to lol)

As for Picrews? I think Picrews are like Anarcho-Communism, where you're either there because you're young and still trying to get a grip on the world, or you stick to it long-term because you're so boring that your lack of personality is your personality (sticking to a mere gateway drug and never moving past it).

Does Tumblr know that Reddit retconned all Reddit Gold, Silver, and other awards last month (even the $50+ ones, introduced only a few years ago), and deleted all Reddit Coins (the currency used to purchase awards) from everyone's accounts, ending with an ominous message about the site "heading in a new direction," then finally came out with a new system where the site will pay you $1 per Reddit Gold so long as you adhere to a YouTube-tier restrictive monetization policy and accumulate at least 10 within a year?

Site's going down the shitter. Thank god the monetization system is comically difficult to profit off of (keep in mind that gold costs several real world dollars on the viewer's end, and must be given willingly), if it was something actually viable the site would be flooded with algorithmic slop (which it already kind of is, but the bot problem is manageable assuming a sub's moderators actually give a shit/are still active)

(oh and btw they did try NFTs a year or two and it quite predictably bombed)
