Heart2Heart: A Charity Anthology Vol. 6 – Edited by Leslie Copeland
Synopsis
Once upon a time, a bunch of authors wondered… what would happen if Heart2Heart, the dating app responsible for pairing up the quirkiest, most perfect couples, brought people together by asking the questions they never knew they needed answered?
From learning each other’s secret zombie survival skills, to disputing the greatest starship captain ever, to confessing their feelings about Cornish pasties, the characters in these fourteen brand new stories inspired by reader suggestions will learn that no matter how random the question… love is always the answer.
And, as always, all proceeds from this anthology will benefit LGBTQ+ charities to ensure that love in all its incarnations will be celebrated and protected every day of the year!
My Thoughts
Another anthology, and another really good time!
After reading the 5th volume of the Heart2Heart anthologies, I really meant to go back and start at the beginning. But somehow I found myself with the newest volume instead.
I really liked that the theme was so random, and that the questions were so broad and unique! Each story was so captivating, I had to take a pause in between to truly process them all on their own.
Just like with volume 5, there were definitely some stories that I liked more than others. Definitely some authors that I felt a bit more of a connection with than others. But I can truly say that there wasn’t one single story I disliked at all. I walked away with a few more authors to check out at a later date, as well!
Sometimes, all we need are really good, happy endings, and fuzzy feelings. This anthology definitely offers that in spades. I cannot wait to explore more of these authors, and the earlier editions of these anthologies.

kennedy moore is a 2nd year resident riddled with abandonment issues, she covers her hurt with sarcasm and one night stands. everyone seems to find themselves drawn to her aura and personality and though a lot of people ‘like’ her, she doesn’t have many friends. kennedy moore is alex karev when he was in his prime asshole era, and just like alex she grows on you.

So you know how sometimes partners do this thing where whenever an objectively stunning person enters the scene, they get jealous and wanna 'test' their SO, so they ask something like: "Do you think [very attractive new acquaintance] is gorgeous?" What if MC did this, trying to seem casual but looking at the Ros intense like 👁️👁️ How do ROs respond? Alternatively, would any ROs do this? (Could you include the dlcs ROs for this if it's not too much of a bother please?)
Kade/Kara: “I can’t say that I’ve ever really noticed, sweetheart,” they admit, after a small pause. Their hazel eyes peering up from their plate as a confused frown furrows their brow. “I don’t make it a habit of staring at other people.”
Michael/Margot: An elegant brow arches— azure blue eyes narrowed as they steadily meet your gaze— with an air of subtle curiosity, but they don’t turn to look at the person in question. “Objectively speaking, darling?” At your nod, they continue. “There are many attractive people in the world, many of whom could be in this very room, but I wouldn’t even bat an eye at them. Why would I? I have you.”
Blaine/Blaire: Craning their neck, making it quite obvious that they were scoping someone out, B shrugs their shoulders. Light brown eyes settling back on you with a wide grin. “They’re not ugly but they’re not really my type.” Their nose wrinkles with the force of their grin. “My type mainly consists of childhood best friends that lived down the street from me.”
Wren/Wynn: Not even bothering to look up, W responds. “I don’t see why it would matter.” There’s a brief moment of silence— wherein they seem to notice how much the question seemed to mean to you— before they finally meet your gaze. “I haven’t noticed nor would I ever comment on someone’s else’s level of attractiveness. I’m with you and you’re all that I see in that regard.”
Nicholas/Natalie: A surprised look graces their features as they sputter out a response. “I-I have-haven’t noticed—“ Placing a hand to their chest, N seems to reign in their initial reaction of panic as they take a deep breath. “It’s not something I’ve ever been inclined to notice. Why do you ask?“
Leon/Leia: They briefly look at the person in question before shrugging. “I could see the appeal but I’m happily taken.” They place their hand on your own with a warm smile quirking their lips. “Why would I need someone else when I have you?”
Luca: “Is this some kind of test?” He settles back in his chair with a worried look etched on his face. “Because I haven’t noticed anyone but you since we became official. I haven’t felt the need to always know where the most attractive person in the room was because I knew she’d always be right next to me.”
Angelus/Angelina: An unamused look flits across their features at the question, but they don’t call you out on the obvious question. Instead, they settle back in their seat with a soft look beginning to form in their eyes. “You’re the most beautiful thing in the world to me. That’s all that should matter in the end.”
Six: A dark smile quirks their lips as they tut out a low sound of disapproval. “Now why would you ask such a question, pet?” Their hand absentmindedly spins their steak knife around— elegant fingers easily maneuvering the blade with innate grace— as an almost predatory look crosses their eyes. “If you’re so worried about possible competition why don’t you take them out?” With that the knife is smoothly transitioned to the empty space between you. “Or was I wrong about you, pet?”
Kennedy: They shrug. “Even if they are attractive does that truly matter, sweet cheeks?” Peering at you, from over their whiskey glass, an amused look flickers across their gaze. “I’m with you. I don’t need nor want anyone else. You’re it for me.”
Quinn: “I suppose,” they reply with a small shrug. A brief look of confusion passing over their features at the sudden conversation change before a light smile appears. “Would you like to go to the opera with me? I heard that they’re going to be in town later this week and I know you’ve been wanting to see a show.”
August/Audrey: “Shouldn’t I be the one asking you that question?” They ask with an unamused arch of their brow. “After all you’re the one that mingles with movie stars and socialites every day.” There’s a brief moment of silence before they continue with a soft sigh. “Even if they’re conventionally attractive that doesn’t mean anything in the long run. I’m not with you for just your looks, babe, and I hope that’s something that’ll stick in your thick skull.”
And… no.. none of the ROs would test the MC in such a way.

We’re talking about worldbuilding this week, and you’re getting a glimpse into Jen and Sarah’s everyday non-podcasting romance chatter.
This one is for everyone — we talk about paranormal and historical romance, about what we think fantasy means when it comes to romance, and (most importantly) about how contemporary romance just might require the most worldbuilding of all.
Tumblr media
We discuss books by Beverly Jenkins, Nikki Sloane, Alisha Rai, Kresley Cole, Eva Moore, Kate Clayborn, Lauren Layne, Angelina M. Lopez, Charlotte Stein, Sally Thorn, K. M. Jackson, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Kennedy Ryan, India Hilton, Adriana Herrera, and Judith McNaught. Links to everything we discussed in show notes.

Haterating and hollerating in the 1950s:
SUDDEN FEAR (1952): Inventive but unsatisfying thriller about a middle-aged playwright and heiress (Joan Crawford) who discovers that her new husband (Jack Palance) and his ex-girlfriend (Gloria Grahame) are plotting to do away with her, and decides to concoct her own elaborate trap for the would-be killers, which doesn't go as planned. Palance is well-cast, walking an interesting line between charm and sociopathy, and the film gives Crawford one of her better '50s roles, but the script fails to pay off its own clever plot twists while allowing Crawford too many opportunities for her customary histrionics — particularly in a pair of over-the-top dream/fantasy sequences and in a crucial scene where the heroine has to express, without dialogue, that she's having second thoughts about her own plan. The finale, while undeniably tense and featuring striking nighttime cinematography by Charles B. Lang Jr., also feels like it belongs in a completely different movie.
THE GIRL NEXT DOOR (1953): Bright, attractively staged Fox musical (with two animated interludes) about the burgeoning romance between a successful stage star (June Haver) and her handsome new next-door neighbor (Dan Dailey), a comic strip artist and widower with a young son (Billy Gray) who's none too happy at this new competition for his father's attention. Haver and Dailey are great, and their easy repartee is very appealing. It's also interesting to see Dennis Day outside of his more familiar role as Jack Benny's idiot stooge. However, Billy Gray's character never quite rings true; there's no real reason for Joey to dislike the charming, good-humored Jeannie other than childish jealousy, so the story depends on his eventually getting over it rather than on Jeannie winning him over, which might have been more fun.
A SUMMER PLACE (1959): Overwrought Delmer Daves adaptation of a Sloan Wilson novel about two one-time lovers (Richard Egan and Dorothy McGuire), now unhappily married to others (Constance Ford and Arthur Kennedy), who decide to divorce their respective spouses so they can finally get married, only to face endless angst because their college-age kids (Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue) are also in love, in A Society That Just Doesn't Understand™. The story might have been considered daringly blunt by the standards of 1958–59, but to modern eyes, it succeeds mostly in putting the "turgid" in "dramaturgy." The script and direction are so unrelentingly heavy-handed that the actors seem like they're mining coal, with only Constance Ford (whose character is an unmitigated bitch) allowed to be anything other than laboriously tormented.

who has had the most living children out of all the legacy heirs? because with 7 wives cassian seems to have too little children
I really had to think about this one... I'm only counting children who lived past childhood.
Here's the run down:
Maddox - Max the Roman, Max, Maeve, Sloane, Cormac, Kennedi
Tumblr media
Maeve - Sophie + four other kids whose names I cannot even remember. The only thing I can remember about them is how disappointingly unattractive they were.
Tumblr media
Kennedi - Blaedswith and Brandon
Tumblr media
William - Neville and Maude
Tumblr media
Neville - Elisaria and Eydis
Tumblr media
Elisaria - Cassian and Isabeau
Tumblr media
Cassian - Henry, John, Charlotte, Margaret, Frances
Cassian had a significantly higher number of children die in infancy than the others - about 7, if I can remember correctly? So, had they all survived, he would have been the biggest procreator by a long way.
Tumblr media
This made my brain hurt and I had to go back over so many screenshots to try and remember, but I am so glad I did. It reminded me what a wild ride this challenge has been!
Thanks for such a great question, Anon

Some quotes from the DLC ROs that I thought you all would find interesting. (I was working on basic plans and these were born.)
I hope you enjoy 💞.
“I didn’t tell you who I was because I didn’t want to lose you! Don’t you understand that?” A frantic note is predominant in their tone as they pace across the room; hands fidgeting at their sides as they try to reign in their desperation. “If I lost you I would never be able to forgive myself. You’re everything that I never knew I needed. Everything that I’ve always thought I was too broken to have. You’re the person that’s reminded the Devil what it’s like to be in Heaven again. I-I couldn’t take the chance that I’d lose you.”
— Leon/Leia Walker ~ Unravel Me
“What are you thinking of?” Tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear, a soft smile quirks Luca’s lips as he stares into your eyes. “I hope you’re not still thinking about me accidentally setting our dinner on fire.” He tilts his head, a small pout forms, before his usual mischief returns. “Do you wanna know what I’m thinking of right now? It has to do with the beautiful woman standing before me and me not being able to tear my eyes from her.”
— Kieran “Luca” Lewis ~ When in Rome
“I don’t think I’ve ever wanted someone the way I want you.” The statement is whispered against the cooling expanse of your skin; a well-defined arm wrapping around your waist and pulling you against their chiseled form. Their lips ghosting across the shell of your ear in a light caress. “You’re insufferable. You annoy me in a way that not even Sarah has managed to achieve, but I can’t imagine my life without you now. Can’t imagine not waking up with you by my side. I hate that I’m so dependent on you, after being alone for so long, but I’m too in love with you to care.”
— Angelus/Angelina Sinclair ~ Ace of Hearts
A searing kiss is pressed to your lips— your back slammed into the wall— as their body melds with yours. The sharp sting of pain against your bottom lip, as they bite a little too hard, causes you to gasp which gives them the perfect opportunity to introduce their tongue. Something that they don’t keep for long before they’re descending down your neck; their teeth nipping at your skin as a dark growl rumbles from deep within their chest. “You’re mine. No one else’s. You’re fucking mine.”
— Six ~ In Cold Blood
“You hate me, huh?” The self assured tone in their voice causes your hackles to raise, but the softness in their eyes— well hidden from anyone that wasn’t you— kills the burning retort in your mouth. Their graceful gait easily closes the distance between you both; their breath ghosts across your lips as their golden-brown eyes sparkle in the dim light of your shared office. “Well, I hate you too.”
— Kennedy Ellis ~ The Hating Game
“I remember the last time that I held you like this,” they murmur, both of your bodies swaying gently in time with the music echoing across the room. Their eyes shimmering with emotions that bring you back to days long past. “I remember what you were wearing, what led to that moment, and what happened after. I remember like it was yesterday because it was the last time I was ever truly happy.”
— Quinn Laurent ~ All I Want For Christmas
“Your sympathies aren’t warranted or needed. I don’t need your false platitudes of sorrow because my parents are dead. Where were you during their funeral, huh? Where were you when I left you dozens of messages detailing what had happened?” They clap their hands, a sardonic smile curling their lips. “Oh! That’s right! You were in Paris with your tongue down a models throat. Why don’t you just leave me alone, okay? You’re good at that.”
— August/Audrey Sloane ~ Blinded by the Lights

The wedding of two powerful families is always cause for celebration during these increasingly dark times. Miss Eunice Gosnoll, eldest daughter of Senator Eugene Gosnoll, married Mr. Thomas William J. Kennedy, favorite son of shipping magnate Mr. William Henry Kennedy. The newlyweds will reside on the outskirts of Springhaven, in a home gifted to them by Mr. Kennedy's father. Sloan's Outlook has not been resided in since the passing of Simington's favorite statesman, Senator Brookside.
