Lore time ^^

St. Bernard Osomatsu: eldest and lazy, but loyal. He often wants to be sleep and eat all day with bursts of energy to play around. He used to be a search and rescue weredog who specialized in combat, he doesn't much nowadays due wanting to relax and not fight things such as monsters, other weredogs, and ogres. People really like watching him fight ogres for some reason.

Husky Karamatsu: Fabulous and fashionable brother. He loves to make outfits, though forgets people aren't as tall as him. Just like regular huskies, Karamatsu will talk to you for hours about both outfits and a stick he found. He's very friendly, but tends to be a bit vain. He used to be a guard weredog, but quit in pursuit of a life of fashion.

Tibetan Mastiff Choromatsu: Strict and keeps everyone in line. He doesn't like it when things are out of place or chaotic. Despite this, this Choromatsu is very timid and won't tell someone else to fix something. To his brothers, however, he is known as the "overly strict commander of whatever" due to not holding back orders. He doesn't like the nickname, but likes that his brothers acknowledge his leadership. He used to be a forest guide weredog, so leadership is mandatory for him. He'll follow if necessary, but he mostly leads, much to his brothers dismay.

Old English Sheepdog Ichimatsu: Quiet and collective. He oftentimes wants to be alone. However, when called, Ichimatsu works as an emotional support weredog with his brother, Jyushimatsu. He provides comfort to others, but will tell you to go away if your hands are dirty. He likes his fur to get covered in dirt on his own terms.

Chow Chow Jyushimatsu: Hyper and fun loving. He loves to be around people and work as emotional support with Ichimatsu. Jyushimatsu hugs people, but underestimates his strength, unintentionally hurting those he hugs. He was also a guard weredog with Karamatsu, but got either distracted easily or terrifyingly mean. Or both, no one wanted both.

Samoyed Todomatsu: Cute and lovable. He loves to cuddle, take pictures, and generally be cute. He can be mean when he wants to be and will make sure you know it. He doesn't like working with his brothers, but will do it if the person gives him a lot of attention. He might convince one to give him more food as a gift.

I really wish that my first edit in months could be an optimistic one. I could talk about how Stranger Things 4 vol 1 stole my heart along with Steve coming back at me with that simp nailed bat. But sadly today that’s just not the case. Most of you know by now my obsession with Promare, it’s one of the driving forces of my special interest and comfort movies. It’s a movie that gave me so much inspiration for my own life and Galo was this ray of light and enthusiasm that I badly needed in my life during COVID-con. I also started to get really into Demon Slayer, Osamatsu San, and Welcome To The Demon School Iruma Kun. All of these shows have one thing in common. They all had characters that were voiced by somebody that for the last two years I've really admired, Billy Kametz. His light voice that could do so many different things, one of the few VAs that almost always made me cackle laugh when he was being a ridiculous character, made me emotional when they finally achieved their dreams, and just made me want to support them through everything that they went through during their time in that storyline.

For those that were unaware, it was announced on the 26th of April of this year that Kametz had been diagnosed with colon cancer. He had probably had it for a while as he was not feeling well for a long period of time. At first I was shell-shocked. How could this ray of light be given this diagnosis that could be deadly and so young. His career was really just beginning and there was so many things that he could have done. I remember rewatching Promare that day and just for the first time I was just over there bawling my eyes out. It didn't seem fair to me. That a voice actor who was so known for being this ray of sunshine to be given this thing that could kill him. But he swore that he would beat it. He looked at that walking death sentence, laughed at it, and swore that it wouldn't get to him. At least, that's what I saw via his Twitter. I would see his GoFundMe's and his fans cheering him on rooting for him every single day. To see the community come together and support this voice actor who's career was just starting, it was extremely heartwarming and I loved seeing it. I thought that it would be like with Rob Paulsen. He'd get better, beat it back with the flaming inferno Galo Thymos style and I'd be able to one day meet him at a con and finally get to thank him for how much Galo meant to me which was a lot.

Apparently, casting Galo dubbed was really hard and nearly impossible to do. So they reached out to one of the cast members that they already had Erica Lindbeck to see if she knew anybody that would be good for the role. Through her, they found Billy Kametz who was perfect for the world's number one firefighting idiot. They had this extra feature on the DVD where it was a behind the microphone look at everything and you could see him singing Inferno behind the microphone. That was who I saw him as when he was fighting. That guy with the big goofy smile on his face in the recording booth singing and laughing and just being Galo. He looked like he was having the absolute time of his life on that project and he brought so much life, so much lovability, and so much heart to Galo. There was something so unique about him that he just never failed to bring a smile to my face. Comfort characters are frequent to me, but characters that inspire me to be my best self, those are few and far between. And one of my favorites of recent years is Galo.

I went onto my Twitter yesterday afternoon, 3:08 in the afternoon and the first thing that I saw was a tweet from Max Mittleman the voice of Saitama in One Punch Man, Plaq in Miraculous Ladybug, King in Seven Deadly Sins, and one of my personal favorites Todomatsu in Osamatsu San. He was the first farewell message that I saw. It instantly sent me spiraling because there was no way right? There was no way that he could've died, he was only 35 and he had so much life ahead of him. So much work that he hadn't been able to do. But a google search and a further Twitter search proved to me that I was wrong. Billy Kametz had lost his battle with cancer earlier on in the week. His life was just beginning as was his voice acting career. He left behind this untouchable legacy. He got to be a Joestar in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. He got to be a main character in one of the most popular anime films of the last five years. He was this shining inferno that I looked up to and that inspired me with every time that I would see his smile or see a tweet from him I would remember what that feeling was like finding that inspiration in him.

My Twitter yesterday was this beautiful shrine to him and I feel like I really got a good read for the kind of person that he was. One of my favorites was reading about his relationship with Alejandro Sabb, one of my other favorite voice actors. It's almost hard to believe that he's gone. I never got to meet the person. Only got to know him through one of my favorite characters over the last two years. My thoughts are with those that loved him. With Alejandro Sabb, Jonah Scott, Alex Le, and with his girlfriend Erica Lindbeck. I hope that they find their ways to grieve for the person that Billy was, the person that he always seemed to be to me.

I will miss Billy's light, his own personal inferno so much. He was such a strong inspirational figure for my life. No matter what I'll remember him the way that he was. As my favorite world's number one firefighting idiot, as my favorite lovable simp in Welcome To The Demon School Iruma Kun, as the shield hero Nafumi. So many characters he left behind as mere the voice behind the microphone. But without his voice, so many characters wouldn't have been the same. I hope that wherever he is, he's content in a world without pain. That he's laughing and waiting for the rest of his friends to one day join him.

i am SO fucking thirsty for cuddling. these scenarios are all sfw, some do get a little suggestive but there is nothing explicit.

Osomatsu

Osomatsu would love to be the big spoon, he’s very grabby and would love the opportunity to just be able to grind on you and have easy access to touching you. If he was feeling frisky he would definitely let you know, and honestly might be a bit incessant. But if you bat him off, he’ll be content to nuzzle his face into your neck, breathe your scent, and leave kisses along your jaw, ear, and neck, just trying to drown himself in you. He might be a playful shit and lick a long stripe on your ear and lightly bite your earlobe, one part trying to see if he could turn you on, and another part to just fuck with you. He would love to entangle his legs with yours, content to surround himself with as much of you as possible and enjoy your warmth. He will probably pass out with his hands under the hem of your shirt, content to just feel your soft warmth.

Osomatsu would like to be coddled and be the small spoon at times, but he strongly prefers being able to feel you in his arms. Another lazy position he would like is if you were resting on your stomach, he would just use your ass/lower back as a pillow. I’m not sure if it’s cuddling, but he would love to just be able to tap a rhythm on your thighs or butt, or idly trace shapes while you two watch a movie. Just playful things, but he will always try to be touching you in any way if possible. It’s comforting being able to feel you.

Karamatsu

There’s something that makes Karamatsu feel strong when the both of you lay down and you rest your head on his chest. He gets to look at you, he has easy access to kiss your face, and his fingers will gently massage your scalp. If you press a kiss to his collarbone and trace a nail along his chest, his heart will swell and fly over the moon and he wouldn’t hesitate to lavish you with his extravagant praise. Will totally grab your hand and just trace his thumb over every knuckle, memorizing the grooves of your hand and peppering kisses onto every finger, joint, knuckle, whatever. What if his arm falls asleep? No problem, he would probably take the pins and needles as a medal of some sort and tough it out for however long it takes.

Another position he would adore is when you’re both on your sides facing each other. Just a mess of arms and legs intertwined with each other, maximum physical contact. You two might make out a little, or just be content nuzzling into each other’s necks and gently giving back scratches. Just be prepared to gaze into each other’s eyes and seeing this man with sparkling vulnerable eyes, he might radiate love.

Choromatsu

Choromatsu might feel pressured to be the big spoon, he might be a bit stiff (especially if it’s the first few times cuddling, his inferiority complex would take some time to subdue) and unsure of how close he is allowed to get. He would awkwardly space his crotch from your rump, and his arms would be a bit loose around your waist. If you offered to be the big spoon, Choromatsu would internally be delighted. There’s just something so comforting about being held, having a lovable warm person with their arms wrapped around him like a cozy backpack. He would love to hold your hands, maybe gently kiss your knuckles and leave your hand against his lips, which you can feel is pulled into one of his adorable smiles. 

Eventually when physical affection becomes normalized and not something that he can only fawn over in his light novels, he would become more greedy for your touch. Being the big spoon or facing each other, he would just love to hold you close, shut his eyes, and embrace all of the sensations. Your warmth, how you smell, a gentle peck to your neck or cheek and feeling your muscles tense up slightly, your gentle voice as you two share an intimate moment. Just drinking in you and how happy he is to know someone that accepts him.

Ichimatsu

Ichimatsu loves spooning. He usually doesn’t care which spoon, but his mood can influence that. If he’s feeling a bit depressed, feeling you hold him and kiss his neck and ears would flood his heart with warmth. It would be so comforting to actively be shown affection and feel wanted, he would probably melt in your arms and turn his head to lazily kiss you. Gently raking your nails through his hair, across his thighs, on his sternum, and on his stomach would drive him wild. Maybe you could scratch a bit harder if you wanted to get frisky? But if you kept things PG-13, he would be extremely happy to feel you against him. Just feeling loved, feeling vulnerable but safe in your arms. He doesn’t have to worry about saying the right things.

If he was feeling possessive and big spooning you, he would be nipping the junction between your neck and shoulder, hands bunching the fabric of your shirt enough to expose your sides. He would be content running his hands across your sides, happy to feel your skin and maybe steal some of your body heat. Maybe a playful squeeze to hear you squeak. If he just wanted to appreciate feeling you against him, that would be all, but it wouldn’t be too hard for him to get carried away and start to nibble more on your neck and leave a trail of kisses up to your jaw…

Another position he would like is resting his head on your lap and basking in hair scratches. He would happily reciprocate and drag his hands through your hair like a kitten.

Jyushimatsu

I honestly find it hard to envision this ball of energy cuddling. But he does have moments where he likes to slow down and embrace you. He likes the idea of having you rest on his lap, he could play with your hair and kiss you! But he would end up bouncing your head around by jiggling his knees. So he’s content to rest his head on your lap, talk animatedly and get a first class view of you smiling at his antics. Don’t be surprised if he gets overwhelmed with affection and does something to get it out of his system. He could pull you down to kiss you, or sit up, straddle you before attacking your sensitive skin with kisses. Then he’ll land a bullseye by kissing you!

He would also like to have you sitting between his legs or on his lap and wrap his arms around your waist. Maybe after a long day, he’ll just love to hold you close and rest his chin against your shoulder. If you reach up to caress his head, he will lean into your touch like a bee drawn to honey.

I just envision Jyushi always moving around (unless it’s cold, then maybe he’ll finally bunker down and spoon you and squeeze you when he feels a burst of love) so I think he would rather show affection in different ways. Always holding your hand, swinging your hand around as you walk together, trying to make you laugh, lifting you up and spinning you around, anything to lift you up and bring a smile to your face.

Todomatsu

Totty would prefer to be the little spoon casually, I think he gets tired of having to act proper and self aware, so having you wrap your arms around him would let him relax and unwind properly. If you two were in a slightly snuggly mood, this would be a good time for you to just prop your head on his shoulder and watch a funny video on his phone and laugh. 

But for full on cuddles, I think Totty might actually like couch cuddles where one person is laying down, and the other is laying on either their stomach or back on their partner. Totty would have a slight preference for holding you, the pressure of another person pressing down on him would be comforting and it’s cozy for him to be stuck between you and a comfy couch. He also likes to be held and if you praise him or call him a good boy? You will literally check all of his boxes. He will idly play footsie with you and give you sweet kisses, but if you take the time to pay attention, you’ll notice a flush on his cheeks, a slight lovey haze in his eyes, and his lips are slightly open in awe. Your body can feel his heart drumming, and you love to see his coy facade fall apart and see him become a bit shy and unsure.

How would the Matsuno brothers be as a dad?

This is to honor Father’s Day today :)

Osomatsu: He would be the worst dad. Like the absolute worst... just kidding. He would be one of those chill dads that lets their kid do what they want as long as they have fun (Which is controversial from his S/O). With his son/daughter, he would love to blow farts onto their stomach to make his child laugh and tickle them. 

He’s a very lovable and playful father. But here comes the worst part... dad jokes! Dun, dun, dun! As his watches his kid grow up, he’ll sometimes tear up when he suddenly remembers their baby face and compare it to how how much they’ve grown. He would hide his proudness by dad jokes every time his child suspects something from him to make it look like he’s fine. Ugh, cringe. He’s a really chill dad, 10/10.

Karamatsu: He would be a lovable, and believe it or not, a pretty strict dad! Karamatsu would call his son/daughter, “Prince” or “Princess.” He would love to buy toys and snacks for his child to enjoy. He always wanted a child with his S/O, so now that that he has a child of his own, he still can’t believe it. Sometimes, he would randomly tear up when he watches his son/daughter play because he still can’t believe that the child is his offspring. “It’s a gift from the heavens above!”, is what Karamatsu would call it. Here comes the strict part of him; he would discipline his child by talking in a deep and imitating tone (I’m sure we know what that sounds like).

His child would be so used to his vocal and high pitched voice of joy, and would immediately quiver when he/she hears her/his papa’s voice lower down octaves. But after he talks to his child, he would cry secretly because he feels guilty for being so strict, saying, “She/He might hate me now!” But his S/O is there to reassure him. Yet through it all, he’s a very lovable but poetic of a dad. But poor son/daughter, they would be pretty embarrassed when Karamatsu comes to pick them up once they reach middle school. And we all know why.

Choromatsu: He would be one of those annoying parents who lectures everything you do, ugh. But as a baby/infant, he would be talking to his child in a playful voice all the time. It sometimes could get annoying. Believe it or not, he loves to squeeze his child’s cheeks and kiss them afterwards because he thinks baby cheeks are so cute. He would blush if his S/O admits their child got it from him. The thought would make him pinch his own cheeks and think deeply about it. As he watches his child grow up, he’s actually the best amongst his brothers to help his child with homework. 

He’s smart, even though he’s presumed a dumbass (which he is still is). Choromatsu would be so excited when his child would come up to him and ask him to help him/her with their homework. He loves helping his child and tutoring them when they need it. But if his child tells him a specific method of math of what their teacher taught him/her, he would get angry (like The Incredibles 2; Bob, “Math is math!”). He would definitely say that, and it would make his child laugh out loud. But nonetheless, Choromatsu would still help their child and show an easier method to solve the math problem. His child would depend on him a lot when they’re not getting something and he would always have an open ear for that. 

Ichimatsu: Honestly, he’s very surprised that he has a child. His child, specifically. He remembers when his S/O wanted to have a child with him but he immediately refused, not wanting a child because not only because children cost so much, but he thinks he would be the worse father with horrible influences. But after some time, he finally changed his mind that he wants a child with his S/O. Now here he was, loving his son/daughter like it was his favorite kitten, cuddling them to death as takes care of his child like it’s the most valuable thing in the world. When his S/O would tease him about it, he would glare and turn his head, “Tch, whatever...” But he’s very happy that he changed his mind. He’s not very expressive, but he tries to be, to make his child know that he loves them. He’ll express it by cuddling them, buying them their favorite snacks, and taking them out to the park or a nearby cat cafe. 

As he watches his child grow up, he would always smile every time his child would try their best. His best nature is listening to his son’s/daughter’s problems and giving them a shoulder to cry on. If someone hurt his son/daughter, he won’t hesitate to beat the hell out of the person. He would protect his child from any harm and dangers. But in all honestly, when his child hits their teenage years, his son/daughter is going to favour daddy more than mommy. The reason? Every teenager hits their emo/drama phase during that age. And he’s the best parent to vibe with, being edgy and emo with. He’s got the songs, he’s got the bands, he’s got the clothes and everything. His son/daughter would love him even more with his emo vibes and laugh it off when Ichimatsu just chills while they vibe together. 

Jyushimatsu: He’s a really fun dad... obviously. Jyushimatsu would make his child one of those kids who are barely in school because they’re always on vacation. Jyushimatsu would be very expressive and loves to go out with his family to explore new things and have fun. He basically lives to watch his family grow up happily and full of smiles. Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming, but as his son/daughter, they would grow up with his attitude and might even be influenced in his fun and living nature. His son/daughter would probably be popular from how extroverted they are from the heavy influences from Jyushimatsu. 

When he see’s his kid grow up, he’ll be excited for them to turn 21 so that he can take his child to the bar and experiment how they hold their liquor. His son/daughter would be pretty excited for that, while his S/O is rather controversial or rather excited. If his child is sad, he would be calm and gentle with his son/daughter and listen to their problems while he makes occasional comments/jokes to make their frown twitch into a short smile. Jyushimatsu has a strong lively charm. Even if you’re going through the toughest times or happiest times, you’ll always feel comfortable, warm, and happy when his charm is around. 

Todomatsu: Todomatsu would dress up his child as if they were a doll. Todomatsu would love to take them shopping, study their fashion sense and makes sure to buy something for them when he’s shopping alone. Don’t worry, he doesn’t judge his child’s fashion sense unless it’s like Karamastu’s. Todomatsu would spoil his child rotten, but his S/O would be controversial because their son/daughter would grow up without any discipline. Speaking of discipline, he’s pretty scary when it comes to that. 

Just like Karamatsu, his child would be used to his peppy and cute voice, and would grow scared once he talks seriously. Bro, when he has a lecture with his son/daughter, the atmosphere would be so tense, it would make his child shiver and avoid eye contact with Todomatsu because they’re that scared. But fear not, he’s not that harsh wish his words. He’ll just be throwing snarly and sarcastic comments that will make his child think about what they’ve done to get into this situation. Sometimes he would spank his child if he needs to. But his lectures are scarier and suffocating. So every time his son/daughter get’s a lecture, they’ll be trying their best to avoid it and change themselves in an instant of what was a big flaw to the family.

Osomatsu:

He would be the first to admit to you that he was a little intimidated at first, but seeing how you actually are a softie, his opinions have changed. He's a big ol' cuddly bug so you would get tons of cuddles from him. He finds you super cute and enjoys moments when you see a puppy or kitten in trouble and you just pick them up and take care of them.

Karamatsu:

He would have his reservations, but after getting to know you, he thinks you're cool and adorable. He likes that he gets to see a side of you that probably no one else makes time to see. He feels a pang of guilt that he was gonna do the same, but he's super glad that he stuck around because he loves your soft side. Especially when you're laying on him, hugging his waist, and he's playing with your hair.

Choromatsu:

He's not skeptical of you. Instead he dives right into a relationship with you, because of anime and manga logic. Which is usually that the "bad guy" is not really a bad guy. Just misunderstood because people see what they want to see to make their judgements on your character. But no, no, Choromatsu sees through all of that.

Ichimatsu:

He would've been skeptical at first if it weren't for the fact that how he met you was that you two were in a cat cafe. And as someone who loves cats, Ichimatsu already knew you weren't a bad person. And to find out that you're just as touch-starved as him, there is bound to be lots of cuddling, snuggling and hand-holding.

Jyushimatsu:

Now Jyushi is a sunshine boy. I find he believes that good exists in everyone, so when he met you, his theory proved right because you are a saint. A kind-hearted, lovable saint who he wants to give all the cuddles to.

Todomatsu:

Totty would be the most skeptical. Like he avoided you when you orginally met but overtime he warmed up to you as you were never what he made you out to be. And he felt extreme guilt over that because if he kept it up, he would've missed out on having a sweetheart of a partner. And karma would surely get him back for that.

 Osomatsu

Osomatsu wouldn’t be really nervous about meeting his s/o’s family, but would probably start getting a little anxious and irritated if his brothers kept mentioning how he would inevitably make a bad impression and ruin his relationship. 

However, when his s/o shows up he quickly forgets about it- especially when he notices the dress they’re wearing. He’s quick to compliment them (and probably make a comment that earns him a smack on the head). Osomatsu thinks his s/o looks great wearing whatever but he’s certainly not complaining about how they look in that moment.

Him meeting their parents can go very badly, especially if they’re very strict people who don’t tolerate any nonsense. In that case he might get a little discouraged, needing his s/o to remind him they love him, independently from what their parents think. 

On the other hand, if the meeting goes well, expect him to pop up at their house if his s/o still lives there. He doesn’t even have a key, the parents just let him in and now he’s part of the family, meaning he might raid their fridge.

Karamatsu

Karamatsu spends two hours trying to come up with the perfect outfit, one hour choosing a gift and another one trying to come up with an ode to the parents, thanking them for bringing his s/o to the Earth. The poem ends up lost in his hurry so he ends up having to improvise. It doesn’t go very well. 

However, that doesn’t stop him from trying to impress his s/o’s family. He really doesn’t want them to hate him and force them to breakup, no matter how much he loves the star crossed lovers trope. Karamatsu doesn’t want to stop seeing his s/o, especially after seeing the new dress they bought specifically for the occasion. It’s so pretty and makes them look divine and Karamatsu thinks he might have fallen in love with them all over again.

He might get down on his knees and beg the parents to not separate them, even if the parents don’t have anything against their relationship. He just easily misreads any situation due to his nervousness.

Choromatsu

He’s both worried and confident about meeting them. On one hand he’s afraid he might do something embarrassing to his nervousness, on the other he’s sure that he’s prepared and capable of handling anything thrown at him.

Seeing what his s/o is wearing only makes him more flustered. They look extremely gorgeous and Choromatsu’s not sure he can handle their beauty and the pressure from making a good impression at the same time. His s/o is going to have to give him a small pep talk to calm him down before they meet up with their parents.

The meeting itself goes pretty well! Choromatsu is a little anxious at first but eventually eases up and starts entering the conversation. He’s going to try so hard to give a good impression that he might seem over polite but overall there’s no big problems or disasters.

Ichimatsu

He’s the most worried and takes the longest to actually meet his s/o’s parents. He’s certain he’ll mess up and both his s/o and their parents will hate him forever and he’ll end up alone for the rest of his life. His s/o probably has to warn their parents that he gets anxious really easily and their first meeting has to be on the shorter side to avoid any uncomfortable situations. The meetings do get longer eventually.

Despite that, Ichimatsu wants to go deep down because it would make his s/o happy, so he readies himself for it. He also really likes the dress they had planned to wear, it makes them look extremely cute and huggable (he spends five minutes debating with himself over whether or not he should actually hug them).

The meeting can go either way, honestly. It might be a complete disaster or it might be relatively calm- bonus points if the parents have a cat.

Jyushimatsu

Jyushimatsu’s very excited! He’s sure that the parents won’t hate him, after all their child is happier with him. However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t a little bit nervous under all that excitement. He also doesn't want his s/o’s parents to have a wrong idea about him.

When he sees the dress his s/o is wearing, he gets even more bubbly and starts complimenting them on it. They look really pretty!

The parents are probably going to love him and consider him part of a family in short time. He’s just a very lovable person and he does make their child happier, so is there even a downside to it?

Todomatsu

Todomatsu isn’t really worried. He’s got this. How could anyone not love him? He’s adorable. And even if they don’t, he’s only interested in his s/o’s opinion anyway. Their parents can’t decide for them who they are on a relationship with.

He’s the most calm out  of his brother’s in these kind of situations but that doesn’t mean he won’t gush over how pretty his s/o looks in their dress. He makes them take selfies with him and walk arm in arm because that’s just how adorable they are.

Needless to say, the meeting goes off without a hitch.

personal review of the osomatsu san movie if any of y’all care

in the end, the osomatsu-san movie was adorable

the movie was really good at capturing all the sextuplets and their pasts, and the movie focused on that as well as have the plot of the letter

they even referenced to previous episodes subtly which was a nice touch

it’s entertaining and there’s never really a blank spot in the movie where you doze off- it’s got you on your toes over those dumb NEETs and their journey here

stupidly silly and heart string-plucking; i loved it

osomatsu: in the beginning before all of this he claimed how lying is bad, and dang, he oddly is the honest type for his kind of person, even if we found that out in the episode where oso and totty visit a mixer. young oso is, well, still pretty much just osomatsu himself. even so, i can’t find the words right now, but it does feel like he took on some maturity.

karamatsu: shy kara, omgg. he doesn’t find himself assertive nor was he able to insert himself to share the letter. eventually he grows up and gains confidence, yet according to the movie kara just lies to younger kara which gives him confidence lol

choromatsu: d.... does this dork even need glasses??? like?? also robotty choro was fucking cute as hell, even if he’s the same fappymatsuski as he is now. he also proclaims the role as the responsible one, which yes that’s his character and he points out the apparent un-obvious, he still ends up being the inevitable trash he is

ichimatsu: young ichi’s a fucking mood tho. just trying to fit in and fall into a line of social status despite need that introvert-cool down time. not too much to say outside of that advertising fucking milked his younger persona

jyushimatsu: delinquent jyushi was really interesting too; he put up his tough persona to everyone, even his brothers, when they were looking. but, just like that one episode where the bros looked back and thought “when did jyushi start acting like this?” jyushi always had that giant grin. also older jyushi unintentionally making younger jyushi laugh was the cutest fucking shit dude

great movie, but it sucks since i think that the production of new content regarding osomatsu-san ends there outside of collab advertisements. i love the series, even if it started back in 2015; offers a bit of nostalgia, even linked to tumblr for me personally. thanks, matsuno brothers

I don't know what to say about Osomatsu...

I mean, there's something about him that makes me feel something I've never felt before.

His blush, the way he lightly snores while he sleeps, and that precious smile make me want to give him a ton of kisses and cuddles until the end of time.

I don't know if he'll remember me since he was too drunk to even stay up but I'll check up on him later and maybe... we could... hang out?

Karamatsu is a wonderful person and I'm glad I met him. Even if he does give me those painful looks and pick-up lines, I still like him. I think he's utterly adorable. He's the most thoughtful, caring and considerate out of the men I've known. Not to mention, that deep voice when he talks makes a blush rise to my cheeks and a shiver rush down my spine.

People might see him as painful, but I see him as the love of my life. I want him to be mine and mine only!

🐸Choromatsu🐸

I know I haven't talked to him that much considering how we talked for about 5 minutes but I've grown fond of him. I feel like he's mature and intelligent. Plus, I think it's adorable how he resembles keroppi in so many ways. They both have that adorable V mouth and love the color green. He makes my heart pound in my chest when he smiles and I think he's just the most lovable person I've ever met and... and...

I hope he likes me just as much as I like him.

🐱Ichimatsu🐱

Ichi-kun is a nice person to talk to, even if he doesn't look like it. He's actually a caring person under that aura of darkness. He's fond of animals and doesn't like to go outside often which is understandable since I don't really do much outside and hate people also. He seems like the type to just cuddle and talk about random things in life. Although, sometimes... I just want to smack him for calling himself "trash" all the time. He's the most precious little baby that deserves all the love in the world and if you don't think so then square up buddy!

☀️Jyushimatsu☀️

Jyushi is the most energetic and playful person I've ever seen. His loud antics make me feel like myself since I'm loud 24/7. He always makes me laugh every chance he gets and would always compliment me just to see me blush. I can see why he wears yellow as it represents his bright personality. He's funny and is such a baby! He makes me feel so special and that's why I want to be with him for the rest of my life.

Mun Q and A + Comments

Presently I live in Tokyo, Japan~ I am from the United States though - Detroit, Michigan specifically (but lived in SW Florida for a few years). 

Polish, Lithuanian, Hungarian, and apparently some Russian. My mom’s side is Polish-Lithuanian and my dad’s side is Polish-Hungarian. Both mentioned Russia too but they’re like, not sure. My family came to USA in the early 1900s so I’m kinda distant from this heritage but I don’t want to be. My dad’s family last name is Polish before they changed it when they came here. I intend to change it back for personal reasons when I move back to USA.

I think seared tuna? The kind that is burned on the outside but raw on the inside. I also like steak cooked that same way! - Lithuania is my favourite, he’s so handsome and charming. I guess my favourite non-baltic would be Poland but I also really like America.... He’s everything I hate about the United States except.... he’s extremely lovable... I love him! I love Canada too. I really like all the characters...  Well, I’m not sure where I’d like to live anymore. I guess permanent residency here (Japan) would be alright. I’m content anywhere I think.... Some place pretty and relaxing though. Life here is too tense. As for other anime...

Crayon Shinchan (Nene (I think this is from the dub though so PENNY) and Kazama are my favourite of the main characters but side character wise I like Ageo Sensei, Yoshirin and Micchi-, and the Saitama Crimson Scorpions)

I love Detective Conan too! I’ve read most of it. Sera is my favourite character but I also like Chianti, Sumiko Kobayashi, Naeko Miike, and Yumi Miyamoto!

Here we go, sorry they’re a little on the short (but sweet!!) side. Under the cut:

Osomatsu

He’d be taken aback, not anticipating such a reaction from his crush. But at last he would smile a little, brushing the hair out of his crush’s face and wiping the tears from their cheeks. “Hey, that’s not what I expected you to say. A love confession is supposed to be happy, after all,” he’d say gently, leaning in and lightly kissing their forehead. “It’s true, I like you a lot and I want to be with you. Maybe we could talk over some oden?”

Karamatsu

He would be surprised at first—how could anyone not love such a wonderful person as his crush? But he would be able to shake it off, enough to slip his hands in his crush’s hands and give them a squeeze, before saying softly, “My dear, you are such a lovely, remarkable person, and I am truly grateful to have you in my life. Never believe for even a moment that you can’t be loved…because you are loved so much, by me.” He would finish with a sweet kiss on the cheek.

Choromatsu

He has a hard time reacting at first, because what his crush just said echoes the fears he’s always had himself about being alone and unloved. It’s enough to make his eyes tear up, but he still smiles a little as he meets his crush’s gaze and says, “I promise, I won’t leave you alone…I like you a lot, and I want to make you happy the way you make me feel happy. You mean so much to me.”

Ichimatsu

Like Choromatsu, he would be momentarily sidetracked because he always worried the same thing—he’d secretly been terrified of his crush rejecting him now, so this reaction came as a shock. He wouldn’t know how to react at first, but would eventually bring himself to lightly touch his crush’s shoulder. “It’s true though, how much to like you,” he’d finally say quietly, blushing with the effort of revealing his feelings. “You’re so worthy of love, and I want to make sure you know that…I really, really like you a lot.”

Jyushimatsu

He’d be startled, panicking at first because he thinks he said something wrong before the meaning of his crush’s words finally sank in with him. Immediately after realizing he would wrap them in a huge hug, holding them tightly to him and gushing with compliments. “But you’re amazing! I’ve never met anyone as amazing as you! And I would be so, so happy to be your boyfriend, and make you the happiest person on earth, because you deserve it! I love you!”

Todomatsu

He’d be floored, not expecting such an extreme reaction from his crush. He’d also feel a little stab of anger toward anyone who might’ve caused his crush to feel this way, like no one was capable of loving them. Finally he’d take his crush firmly by the hands, meet their gaze, and say, “You are absolutely lovable. I don’t think you realize just how fantastic you are. And anyone else who ever made you feel like you could never be loved are absolute jackasses who don’t know what they’re missing. They all have problems. But you? You’re perfect the way you are.”

Anime Review – Osomatsu-san

Genres: Comedy, Parody

Episodes: 2 seasons with 25 and 26 episodes

The majority of the Matsuno household is comprised of six identical siblings: self-centered leader Osomatsu, manly Karamatsu, voice of reason Choromatsu, cynical Ichimatsu, hyperactive Juushimatsu, and lovable Todomatsu. Despite each one of them being over the age of 20, they are incredibly lazy and have absolutely no motivation to get a job, choosing to live as NEETs instead. In the rare occurrence that they try to look for employment and are somehow able to land an interview, their unique personalities generally lead to their swift rejection. From trying to pick up girlfriends to finding the perfect job, the daily activities of the Matsuno brothers are never dull as they go on all sorts of crazy, and often downright bizarre, adventures. Though they desperately search for a way to improve their social standing, it won't be possible if they can't survive the various challenges that come with being sextuplets! (Source: MAL)

Well, Osomatsu-san is definitely… special. To have a general idea of what to expect, those who are familiar with Gintama’s sense of humor will find Osomatsu-san’s very similar, except much more ridiculous. It’s the kind of show that’s MEANT to be ridiculous, otherwise it can’t be as funny as it is. It’s also not meant to be taken seriously, if it is, the overall enjoyment of this anime will go down hard, and nobody really wants that.

Regardless of it’s unique humor, Osomatsu-san is special in many ways, starting with it’s memorable characters, each more relatable than the last. The characters in the show aren’t just anime characters. They’re people. And that makes them perfectly imperfect, from their honest opinion on adult life (or just life in general), to their less than nice attitudes towards each other. Like real siblings, they all mess with each other, by being jerks and solving their differences through punches and kicks. But when one of them is in real need of support they are all there for each other, each in their own way. To sum up all the different characters’ personalities and attitudes: everybody is a jerk, but everybody has feelings.

Plot-wise there’s not much going on. The show’s episodes are most of the time divided into various segments, usually unrelated, with the occasional single segment per episode. Sometimes there are segments that rely on alternate universes, such as the Girlymatsu universe, where the sextuplets are girls, or the F6 universe, where they somehow have the form of normal anime characters and represent a parody of the idol ikemen trope. But not everything is jokes and silliness, some episodes really kick it up a notch with the drama, and while some are bigger tearjerkers than others, they can really pull at the heartstrings.

The animations used in the show is as simple as it can get, with simple and cartoonish designs, similar to what can be found in older kid cartoons, but considering the original anime, it’s very appropriate. Sometimes the animation can get a little wonky, with the occasional off-model shots, but considering how “sketchy” the style is it doesn’t bother as much as it probably should. But it does have its moments of brilliance, with incredible animations during exaggerated action scenes, and there’s, of course, the voice acting. With such familiar voices behind the sextuplets it’s almost impossible not to like them, considering they did such an amazing job voicing their characters.

In conclusion, Osomatsu-san is definitely a must watch for those that enjoy comedies and, most of all, parodies. Past the ridiculousness there’s a lot of feeling in the characters and who they are, making them so much more relatable than what can be felt from most anime out there. I find it one of the best comedy anime out there, but honestly, this is a show that has to be watched to be liked.

not a headcanon, but what is your opinion on each of the boys this season? has anything changed your view on them since s1 in a positive or negative way?

Osomatsu - Hmm, I almost feel like we need to wait until the end of the season to make an opinion about this boy. I firmly stand by my one comment way back about how he isn’t any different than he ever was (see: his bleeped out conversation with Nyaa chan in the 2nd frickin episode) but I can see how people are disappointed too. In season 1 Oso had at least one good Big Bro Moment with each of the matsus (somebody made a wonderful gifset of them) but season 2 in comparison focused a bit more on his dickish side…

My personal opinion of Oso didn’t go down, I still like him a lot. But even seeing Oso fans question the direction this season was taking him really made (and still makes) me wonder if something will be addressed up front in the next 3 episodes.

Karamatsu - 

s1 Kara: heh! romanticized English with a slapstick punchline

s2 Kara: a legit personality lol

Ok sorry that’s an extremely simplified outline but s2 Kara is just s1 Kara but way more fleshed out and interesting. He wasn’t any less painful or any more savage, he was exactly how he always was but this time they actually put some FOCUS on him. Kara just feels overall more present in season 2, not because ‘they stopped bullying him uwu’ but because he was given more lines other than his typical ‘lol painful’ ones. I liked Kara just fine last season but he felt more entertaining this time around if you ask me!

Choromatsu - I’m about to say something crazy sounding but here me out… the way Choro was written this season reminds me a lot of the way Kara was written last season. What I mean is Choro didn’t get a lot of main focus this season but he had a TON of little stand out moments? Likewise Kara got barely any development but he quickly became a fan fave just by being memorable and lovable with his one-liners and small scenes.

So what I’m trying to say in a roundabout way is that I think letting Choro just exist and drop all the character development baggage from season 1 did wonders for him? It felt like so many people developed a newfound appreciation of him just because season 2 let him be cute and dumb a fully fleshed out character. So he was like an inverse of Kara; Choro needed less focus and Kara needed more, and now they’re exactly where they need to be! Uh, somehow.

Ichimatsu - I feel a little bad but, it didn’t really feel like Ichi stood out much this season on his own. It kind of feels like his Big Standout Moment was the punishment skit with Jyushi. However I think his role in Campaign Starts Now was extremely underrated; I enjoy the scenes that focus on his servility and how sometimes he’s forced to speak up and be the one with common sense.

Jyushimatsu - Jyushi’s accused of being the writer’s fave sometimes and, well, he did get a lot of focus this season didn’t he? To be fair I think Jyushi’s just a versatile character; I can’t imagine any other matsu being a part of the UMA Expedition for example. With that said, I know a lot of people think he’s been dumbed down, but alternatively, this season gave him a lot of unJyushilike scenes too? Playing the straight man to Kanojo, being embarrassed in front of Eitarou’s mom, having to talk Choro of all people down… when you think of it that way he isn’t as pigeonholed as he might seem.

Todomatsu - Well I said a few times before already that I wasn’t completely sold on what his role was in season 2? Not that it was bad or wrong, just that it didn’t grab me like s1!Totty did. BUT I think that’s just my onion and not really an issue with season 2; there’s been plenty of times where he’s been the same hilarious baby bro he always was.

There were a few times I was worried he was too isolated/stuck in the tsukkomi role. I still think season 2 could’ve handled those moments better but Totty is just really good at being the one with the most common sense, so in a way I can’t blame them!

Saw a dumb post talking about how Ichimatsu ran over Karamatsu with a truck.

Todomatsu got disowned by his parents, kicked out of the house, ignored by his siblings, and had to do all this nonsense just to get back in his own family… just because he’s more socially well-off than his other siblings? Like, he got the initiative to find a job and find friends outside of his family, even if he was being nasty about it. But can you really blame him if they’d just rob him of his money and humiliate him in front of people?

Imagine if you have a shitty family. And you try to get away, by getting a circle of friends, getting a job to support yourself independently. But that family drags you back to the household, steals any money you get while not getting a job on their own, and throws you onto the street for dead when you won’t abide by their shit. That’s literally Todomatsu’s life.

This is a gag show. I’m fully aware of it, considering Todomatsu received his vengeance by shooting up everyone. But it’s fucking stupid to then turn around and give Karamatsu the opposite treatment and praise him as the innocent, “abused” sibling when at least they never threw him off to the streets so he could starve just because he wanted to join society. Jesus fucking Christ.

At what point do you exactly take things from a gag show seriously? When it’s convenient for your self-projection? Because Todomatsu’s personality isn’t relatable and therefore not worthy of self-projection?

Ichimatsu blows a bazooka to Karamatsu’s face? Abuse. Ichimatsu running over Karamatsu? Abuse. The mom cutting nearly everyone’s nipples off? Comedy. Todomatsu getting ostracized and stripped of his clothes by his siblings in front of his coworkers? Comedy. Todomatsu getting jumped and robbed of his pachinko money? Comedy. Pouring hot tea on Karamatsu’s hand? Abuse. Tossing hot coffee on Todomatsu's head? Comedy. Having four siblings twist Todomatsu’s toes at once? Comedy. Karamatsu ditching Choromatsu for dead against an armed tribe? Comedy. Siblings pushing chores onto Karamatsu? Abuse. Jyushimatsu strangling Ichimatsu because he’s cold? Comedy. Talking shit about Karamatsu? Abuse. Talking shit about Choromatsu? Comedy. Talking shit about Todomatsu? Comedy.

It’s a gag show. Treat everyone equally for god’s sake, and quit labeling one sextuplet as the morally best or the misfortunate when they’re all the same trash that are still lovable.

as of right now there is no dub Viz Media, who most recently did the redub of sailor moon (AND ITS FANTASTIC BTW SO IT GIVES ME HIGH HOPES FOR MATSUS), had sent out a tweet saying that the dub was going to be released some time in October of this year but …nothing happened?? my buddy @arr-jim-lad even contacted them about it, and they responded that there were no updates to mention. ://///SO right now sub is all we got haha

one of my fave aspects of this show is that after a few eps, despite them all having the same face, it becomes VERY EASY to tell them apart haha this is part of why the character writing is so strong imo!

the easiest thing to get the hang of first when it comes to noticing the matsus is def their designated colors! Even when theyre not in their trademark hoodies they can usually be seen wearing their colors somewhere on themselves so if you cant tell who’s who right away LOOK FOR THE COLORS!!

if theyre all wearing matching outfits you can look at their hair shinies bc they’ll usually be their color when nothing else is! (tho those are a bit more subtle in coloring bc ..well..shinies haha)

😄EXPRESSIONS and QUIRKS😎

each of the bros has a standard neutral expression, and some of them have fun quirks that make it very easy to tell who’s who! lets start backwards this time \(ouo)/ (mostly bc from the start the youngest bros are def easiest to recognize…besides karamatsu ofc)

💖Todomatsu (pinky boi)💖

he’s the designated “cute” boy, and the worst/best self-centered millennial stereotype. actually a total mean girl in disguise, and (according to his bros) a “vile monster”. i love him and he’s a cute demon. not the worst bro but pretty darn close.

neutral expression: :3voice: highest pitch of the bros and often whiny quirks: - can usually be seen w his smartphone - acts the most feminine (covers his chest if naked or topless)- always has eye shinies - two hairs sticking out on the top of his head - calls all his bros “niisan” since he’s the youngest

next up MY BOOOYYYYY

💛Jyushimatsu (YELLOW SUNSHINE LIGHT OF MY LIFE)💛

the hyper-active, forever smiling, incredibly powerful, baseball boy! if something weird and crazy is going on jyushimatsu is either directly involved or about to be. he’s always laughing, smiling and making weird jokes/noises. a very sweet boy who is entirely too powerful. He often dresses as animals, and is used as an “attack dog” to torture whichever brother he’s commanded to (usually oso). A very unpredictable boy to say the least. Its hard to imagine an ooc version of him bc there isnt much he would not do or say.HE IS MY FAVE BEST SUNSHINE BOY

neutral expression: 8Dvoice: lowest pitch of the bros but also the loudest, often making weird/nonsensical sounds/noises such as: BBBBOEHBA!! 8Dquirks: - often goes cross eyed - is incredibly strong, can lift and throw his adult brothers like nbd - never has eye shinies in the anime unless he’s about to cry - wears shorts when everyone else is wearing pants, also some times wears a traffic cone on his head- wiggly arms and sleeves too long (even when its not the hoodie, usually his sleeves are always too long haha)- only one hair sticking out on the top of his head

next up my second fave, NEKOMATSU

💜Ichimatsu (purple cat man)💜

the designated darkmatsu, ichi is the slow moving, constantly slouching, quietest boy who thinks cats are way better than people. the least motivated matsu, even going out to do fun things (like drinking or gambling) is some times too much trouble. for him a good time is laying on the floor and thinking about death (and also cats). a fan of torture, if the situation calls for causing trauma he’s suddenly very talkative and plays w his voice a lot. he is the second brother (after my boy jyushi) that is often called upon when one of the other brothers (or anyone) needs to be tortured. i love this boy and he is good to my fave boy god bless suujimatsu

neutral expression: B(voice: usually very low, slow and monotone quirks: - eyes always half lidded, no shinies - always slouched- messy hair (some times w cat ears)- only bro to wear track pants (w the line on the side)- has a diff cat in his lap almost every ep, but does not actually own one- two hairs sticking out on the top of his head

up next everyone’s fave otaku,

💚Choromatsu (green frog weeb man)💚

the resident brother mom and a total idol otaku, choromatsu isnt concerned w much else besides his idol obsession and proving he’s way more responsible than his brothers. he often walks todomatsu to the bathroom at night and waits for him to finish since youngest bro is scared of the dark (reminder theyre both grown men in their 20′s). he thinks he’s better suited to be the oldest brother and leader rather than osomatsu and even points it out once, with agreements from both todomatsu and ichimatsu.if anything crazy happens choro is the first to scream about it not being ok. he’s got the strongest will of all the brothers and can never be persuaded to change his mind about a situation. he’s not a fighter at all and usually chooses to stay on the sidelines even if he agrees w whatever the bros are fighting about (killing god for instance).he’s under constant stress bc he’s pretending to do his best while his brothers are terrible i love him give this poor green man a vacation

neutral expression: :voice: higher pitched, not as high as todo but still higher among the bros, and usually using it to yell @ brosquirks: - smallest pupils, no shinies (in the anime)- usually has a worried expression- wears plaid a lot- is irritated almost all the time - wont look for a job bc he’s determined to be an idol manager- no hairs sticking out on top of his head

AND NEXT MY THIRD FAVE AND EASILY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MATSU

karamatsu is EASILY the most recognizable matsu. w those amazing eyebrows, constant use and abuse of anime eyes, wild variety of glittery, revealing, and leather clothing its no wonder he’s called painful oh my god i love this man DID I MENTION HE SPEAKS RANDOM ENGLISH FOR NO REASON AND ITS GREATalso he’s probably the most caring brother who genuinely wants his brothers to be happy and know theyre loved very much by him ;;

if you cant immediately spot this matsu i dont know what to say to you tbqh

neutral expression: >:Dvoice: he makes his voice deep to sound cool p much all the time but its actually higher pitched than it seems quirks: - wears sunglasses, skulls, a leather jacket, sparkly everything, and p much anything he thinks is “cool”- easily the most expressive matsu just look for those eyebrows haha- puts his finger under his chin a lot - “BURAZAHS” - "heh!”- two hairs sticking out on the top of his head

and now on to the final, the oldest, and arguably the worst matsu

💔Osomatsu💔

THERE HE IS!!!! THE TRASH KING BROTHER!!!!i kid, i kid sort ofimplying that the matsus are not all trash boys is just a joke tbqhfor me osomatsu was absolutely the hardest bro to recognize when i first watched the show, and i think the biggest tip i can give for him is just to look for the red boy scratching under his nose. also the boy who looks like he would buy and sell you. he’s a pretty brilliant con man and a good fighter too, but his laziness outweighs anything that he could possibly achieve in. he’s absolute trash but in a way still lovable?? OH ACTUALLY if youre familiar w the anime Lupin the Third just look for the brother that makes the most Lupin-esque faces he’s got that classic-anime-comedy-male-lead look more than any of the other bros so that might help you recognize him!

neutral expression: its like a stretched version of this :3 w teeth showingvoice: higher pitched, he plays w his voice almost as much as jyushimatsu, very playful and teasing, hardly ever serious sounding quirks: - scratching under his noise- obsessed w money and women (and never has either)- the most addicted to gambling of all the bros (this is sounding less like quirks and more like serious problems omg), favors horse races and pachinko- the “leader”, usually the one telling the others what to do (even if they rarely listen)- calls no one “niisan” since he’s the oldest - two hairs sticking out on top of his head
