The Wachowski sisters are the best. THE BEST

They made Matrix (1999) when no one cared about giving space to LGBTQ+ representation. They pretty much sneaked in a trans allegory into mainstream cinema without tripping ANY wires! And it has made rounds in film circles, VFX circles, dude-bro film critic circles, Name It!

They were left alone for a decade and they came up with the Marvel that is Sense8. Now this script just takes off with the idea of finding an ephemeral connection with not just one but a crowd of other people across the globe without ever meeting them. Sounds like the trans experience to me.

Yk what else sounds like a trans experience? Having mothers and fathers and children and clusters with no barriers of sex and gender. 🤌 An unbreakable umbilical cord that binds me with my 'mother'? Bring it on. Being able to contact someone and reach out for help even if they are in a completely different socio-economic strata, brought up differently and have nothing in common with? BRING.IT.ON.MAMAA!

Cis-het sloths don't have anything on me 🌈. They don't understand 'community' like I do. They are stuck in their blood relations and friends but I don't have any. I make my family. Who is in that family is not always in my control but all of them have shared the same pain, ostracization and hate that I went through. THEY GET IT!

Anyways, Lana and Lilly Wachowski, my heart is with you. Manifesting that I get to work with you sometime.

I watched The Watchowski Sisters' Speed Racer movie for the first time last night and holy shit I'm not exagerating when i say this is a fucking masterpiece and might be one of my favorite movies I've ever seen. It's like the antithesis of everything I hate about modern franchise/adaptation movies; its so creative, full of life and color and artistic intent. Every shot and edit feels so purposeful and crafted with passion and care, with no regard for cynicism or people thinking it might look dumb or "cringe". It's an ode to artistic passion in an age where creativity is filtered through profit motive and all art, from the smallest independent creator to the biggest franchise blockbuster, has to be sold to survive; that even in those conditions the passion of the artist can still break through and effect peoples lives for the better.

The Wachowskis' works, regardless of quality, have always dreamt of a better world, and I'm not bullshitting when I say the gaudy CGI car racing movie with a poo-throwing monkey is the type of art that makes me believe that world can exist.

I thought of this one just today and I am IMMENSELY proud of it.

The mysterious G-Man offers Gordon a choice between an uncertain future and immediate death at the hands of an army of monstrous aliens. Knowing he can only really choose one of them.

Morpheus offers Neo the choice between the red or blue pill the first time around, with both choices made in sincerity. Second time around, he hopes that Neo will choose as he did last time “Time to fly.” “Yeah, that’s not gonna happen..”.

Weird Barbie (Kate McKinnon) practically wants Stereotype Barbie (Margot Robbie) to choose to leave Barbieland to meet her human owner to fix the ongoing fuckery in her world. Insisting upon such a choice.

The similarities between the last two immediately stood out to me and I LOVED it.
