#Zeus is a horrible parent
Text
Son of Metis fic continuation
Given that I recently have dove into the Trials of Apollo fandom (despite not yet having managed to a) read the books or b) finish the Heroes of Olympus series), I am adding a little bit onto the original storyline.
Apollo definitely knows that Athena’s been hiding her baby brother since the day she emerged from Zeus’s head.
Apollo told Artemis and the two have been discretely watching and nudging things to train the boy for his future as their king for the last 12 years—and covering for Athena.
Zeus, as is shown in the Trials of Apollo series (and the parallels made between Zeus and Nero) is a horrible parent and not a good king.
Which leads me to the forth thing: Apollo, who given that he has some hope for things to finally change is able to admit that his father is awful, is (along with Artemis) definitely planning a coup to replace Zeus with Perseus once he is ready.

Dark! Percy Jackson Reverse Harem x Reader|| Chapter Four
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
<<< Chapter Three
You tried to fight them with your hardest, but you barely land hits on any of them.
But the sword is hard for you to handle and your hits are sloppy.
In the end, you got injured.
No, Ares's children didn't harm you, you cut yourself up with the sword by accident.
However, Percy fought them all off and your team won capture the flag.
Annabeth shoved Percy in the water where your doubts were confirmed as Poseidon claimed him as his son.
After the game, Chiron called you over to give you a letter from your mother.
For some reason you were so scared to open it, feeling like your mother was declaring in the letter that she disowns you and doesn't want to see you ever again.
But, it is the opposite of that.
My Sweet Angel,
I apologize for appearing like a coward, but I needed to get you to the camp.
However...I couldn't bring myself to enter the place because it brought bad memories for me.
I hate it, but I know it's necessary for your safety.
And you must understand that I would never be ashamed of you, I'm quiet proud of you.
After all, I was in your position when I was young.
PS. Your stepfather sends you his love and will prepare you all of your favorite food when you return home.
From your beloved mother,
Calista
You let out a happy laugh, finally feeling at ease that you misunderstood the whole situation.
Your mother loves you, but wait...
...She is a demigod.
But what do that make you?
Also who is her godly parent.
You will ask Chiron about it later, he must know who he is.
Suddenly you hear knocking on the front of your cabin door, you go to open it only to see Annabeth.
You smile at her cheerful and shyly but invite her inside.
Once she is inside, you begin apologizing.
"I'm sorry about my performance, I swear I tried my best but-"
She cuts you off.
"No need to worry, you did amazing on your first try"
Your expression brightens up.
"Thank you"
"No problem, girls stick together, am I right?" Annabeth says with a smile.
"Yes...would you like to stay over and chit chat for a bit?"
"Sure!"
And that's how you made a first female best friend in camp.
°°°
"I chose you for the quest, you cannot say no to it"
"Well, the quest is going to fail, did you not see my fighting skill? It's horrible!"
Percy as usual barged into your cabin to inform you of the quest.
"Come on, Grover and Annabeth will be there too, there is nothing to fear"
Your eyes grow big upon hearing the name 'Grover'  as a smile appears on your face.
"Grover is here? Is he also a demigod?"
°°°
"You are a Satyr?"
You tilt your head, looking down at the tan skinned boy's legs.
"Yes...weird, I know"
"No, it's not weird at all, actually it is kind of cute" you say.
Grover smiles and blushes but Percy walks between you both, to break the nearness.
"We need to focus on the quest" Percy asserts with jealousy.
"Is that Thalia?" you ask Annabeth as she says goodbye to the tree.
"Yes"
"She’s really gonna miss that tree, huh?"
Percy says sarcastically, looking with envy as you interact with Annabeth, also patting the tree gently, saying something he can't hear.
He doesn't want you to interact with anyone.
If he can lock you up, he will do it.
"When Annabeth first arrived here with Thalia and Luke, they were being chased by monsters. Agents of Hades. Sisters. Furies."
"Mrs. Dodds?" Percy points out.
"Yes! One was our algebra teacher. Alecto. Thalia turned back to fight to buy her friends some time. Her satyr protector tried to stop her, but she wouldn’t listen. So, at the last moment... Zeus intervened to save her life and... changed her form."
"The most powerful being in the universe’s best idea to save his daughter’s life... was to turn her into a tree?"
Percy mocks after his friend finishes explaining as you and Annabeth walk back to them.
"She was the bravest demigod I ever knew. She fought valiantly, and she met a hero’s fate." Annabeth defends.
"She met a pinecone’s fate."
"Percy" you exclaim, piniching his arm.
"What? I'm telling the truth"
You sigh in anger, before turning to Annabeth with a gentle expression and say.
"If I ever meet Zeus, I'm going to give him a piece of my mind"
Grover nods his head slowly at you.
"Yeah, so he can strike you down with lighting bolt"
"Can't strike me down with something he lost"
You say playfully walking ahead of them.
"She is going to get us killed" Annabeth mutter
"And I don't mind dying for her" Percy respond firmly, following after you like a lovesick puppy.
°°°
Calista walks around the house, cleaning every corner and making sure everything is in order.
She developed an OCD, ever since she became pregnant with her only daughter, you.
The demigod woman feared that all her past relationships with the gods might come back and slap her in the face through you.
She would die if something happened to you, that's why she thought it was the best decision to send you to Camp Half-Blood.
While doing house work, the doorbell rings, she walk over to the front door and opens it.
But once she sees who is on the other side, she tries to close it, but the person stops her and shoves his way in.
"This is no good way to greet me, young lady"
"What are you doing here?" Calista demands in fear.
"Well, I came to take you back to the underworld"
Hades answers back with a smirk.
"I'm not going anywhere, my daughter-"
"Don't worry, I sent someone to get her, so we can all become a big happy family"

This is a call to action for all the PJO girlies (gender neutral) that I know are sleeper agents on this webbed site
Go read Trials of Apollo. Go do it. Do it right now.
I know what you’re thinking. “Tbh I didn’t love Rick’s writing towards the end of Heroes of Olympus” “There’s no Percy so why bother” “All of the Argo II crew are kinda OOC” and listen my friends. You are so valid to have those opinions. I felt the same way after Blood of Olympus. But listen to me. Look at me.
Now that you have had some time away, you must give these books another try. For me. For Uncle Rick. For the demon baby grain spirit who is only able to say his own name (Peaches).
Do not worry friends, I do not expect you to read just based on my say-so - I also provide:
A list of reasons why you (yes you) should go read the Trials of Apollo series right now gogogo:
(Spoiler warning - all broad plot things that you learn early on, but I know some people (including me) avoid that shit at all costs)
All the chapters are titled in bad haiku. Ya know that one scene in Titan’s Curse where Apollo just starts reciting apropos of nothing? That’s every chapter title. They’re all so bad it’s amazing.
Apollo is so up his own ass about everything, and it’s so cool to experience the same world through the eyes of someone who is not used to being in amongst the chaos
Oh yeah the plot. That’s a reason to read it.
Okay so
Basically Zeus continues his streak of being a shitty shit parent and decides to blame like… every bad thing that has happened on Apollo, and punish him by turning him mortal and enslaving him to a demigod girl named Meg who is a garbage gremlin with a little demon baby guard named Peaches (see above)
And like the A plot is they gotta save the oracles from shitty old Romans who wanna take over the world (stop me if you’ve heard this one before)
But like the B plot is about what it means to discover that you’ve fucked up, you’ve made mistakes, you’ve hurt people, and you gotta fucking own up to that shit
But also
You do not deserve to be punished for every horrible thing that has ever happened because of you, or even around you, and when a parental or authority figure in your life tells you that, they are an abuser and they are wrong
And yet
It can be so hard to fully separate yourself from them. Because for so long, they were all you had.
But that’s okay, because when you start to learn that the people who were supposed to care for you and love you were not actually doing that, there are people around you who will love you, who will support you, who will pick you up and hold you close and make sure you know that you are okay
And they can’t fix you
But they can give you the safe space to fix yourself
hmm that was an essay about themes and metaphors BUT THATS WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT
also there’s a wikipedia arrow who only speaks in Elizabethan prose (in all caps)
OH ALSO ALSO you get to see Will and Nico being a CUTE AS FUCK couple in the first book. Nico smiles. Also makes skeletons grow out of the ground when people annoy him. Fuck I love this little gay death boy so much.
AND. You get to see so MANY of your old friends. And they still! Get! Plot! And! Character! Development!! Even though they are only there for a little bit
OH OH OH there are two old lesbians who run a halfway house for people who are tangled up in magic shit with nowhere else to go
Did I mention Peaches? I did. He’s my favorite.
OH ALSO. This is “unreliable narrator” executed SO FUCKING WELL. Like, all narrators are unreliable. But Apollo used to be a FUCKING GOD. He has not had to deal with the reality of death all that much. He’s used to people praising his name and bowing down at his feet. But that ain’t happening!! And he is Unhappy about that!! But it also lets there be such a clear juxtaposition between what Apollo believes about himself and about the world and what is really true, which is such a wonderful way to write about recovery from trauma.
Ahem
Anyway it’s just real good Uncle Rick continues to knock it out of the park but he just did something different and we (at least I) needed some space from OG PJO fan brain before I could appreciate how fucking awesome this series is.
OH OH OH and if you like audiobooks Robbie Daymond (hello CR mutuals - yes, this is the one who is our beloved Blue Boi who we (Orym) so desperately need returned) is the audiobook narrator and he is. So fucking good. Absolutely NAILS the dramatic-ass-inner-monologue of this dramatic ass ex-deity. Also nails all the other voices as well. 15/10 audiobook narration I’m lichrally gonna go listen to other books JUST cuz he reads them.
okay why the fuck are you still here. GO. GET THESE BOOKS. If your public library does Libby you can absolutely get them on there. GO FORTH.

There is an interesting shift in The Tyrant's Tomb in how Apollo/Lester talks about his father.
Cos in the previous books, i got the vibe that Apollo and Zeus never got alone, but that was more of the 'dysfunctional olympiad family' vibe, maybe with a slight added power dynamic of Zeus being Apollo's father and the ruler of the Olympians, which meant Apollo tended to get the short end of the stick.
Even when comparing his relationship to Zeus to Meg's with Nero, which is blatantly and narratively painted as abusive from the start, I didn't necessarily get the vibe that Apollo necessarily was ready to admit that Zeus was outright abusive, which as we're seeing it from his pov, meant I didn't fully put the pieces together.
But then we come to book four and Camp Jupiter, and now Apollo is outright saying 'yeah, he abused me and it was traumating,' to the point where he's almost triggered by the presence of his father's symbols at Camp Jupiter.
And I think it's a facinating shift and brilliantly written. It takes him a while to be able to look it fully in the face. It's only after he sees some examples of good parenting, after he meets and loses Jason--his brother who stood up to their father-- after he sees Meg slowly confronting her past, after he finds himself in the slightly triggering environment of Camp Dad that he's able to fully face it and name it.
Its also interesting to me that this is fully brought up in the same book that touches on a lot of the most horrible things Apollo did as a god. It's the victim becomes the victimiser theme, its paralleling those two sides of him, and its making the audience continue to sympathise with him, even though he admits to doing horrible things, and I love it.

i know what you mean about anakin as hades’ son but i think he’s also super zeus coded. he loves to fly, lightning gives sith vibes if his dad is meant to be anything like palps (i.e. evil and manipulative) and anakin’s conception is also very zeus-y. like zeus is perfectly capable of turning into air and making shmi think there’s no father. it would also be completely in character for hera to send the sand people after shmi as well if there’s anything like that that happens.
also anakin could totally get his rage from zeus and it also fits the chosen one vibe too. hades might have rage and power but obi-wan would be even more afraid of sleeping with anakin if his dad was the king of the gods who also enacts horrific punishments on anyone who goes against the order of things as he wants them (prometheus, aphrodite, humanity as a whole). go ahead obi-wan catch a flight after fucking anakin that won’t backfire horribly
(In reference to this post)
ah this is excellent meta and a very good argument but this time I really did mean it when I said anakin’s parent was non negotiable in the original post—I’m completely sold and set on hades as being anakin’s godly parent if i fleshed put that Percy Jackson au because I think there’s the creepy dark awkward kid element that hades’ kid would have over zeus’ kid and that’s something I really see with this anakin
also it would be equally as cool if anakin as a kid loved planes and the idea of flying and his mom never let him because he wasn’t zeus’ kid and was hades’. His love of planes and machinery being something inherently just anakin and not from a godly parent and him never being able to enjoy the thing he likes because of the rivalry between them…I like that angst a lot!

Athena is an Awful Mother- Yes, Even in the Books
As a child of Athena myself, and as a professional Athena hater, I am honestly shocked at how many people think the show itself made her bad, when to me she was always this bad. The books kind of gloss over the stuff she does, and we’re expected to believe she’s one of the “better” godly parents.
I also think that because most of us read these books when we were 11-12, we didn’t quite actually understand the fucked up shit she was doing, but as I get older, the more I question alot of the the decisions she made as both a parent and a “wisdom goddess.”
Because, yeah, a lot of the decisions were straight up horrible. Like, I don’t think you guys understand that there is more issues to her specific brand of neglect, than most of the other gods.
Spoilers for the books below! Also, this will be talking about Athena in the books, not Greek Myth Athena.
I think my main issue with Athena has always been the way her children came into existence. Because children of Athena are born from thoughts in her mind, born to mortal men she admires. Now, as a child, this didn’t seem as bad, because I didn’t understand the complexities of parenting. I still don’t, but I know a bit more from having friends and peers who have children.. and now I see several issues with this.
First, it’s the idea that even at the beginning, she sees her children as commodities. Her children were made to be “gifts” for men, who she admired. And the messed up part, is based on Frederick’s reaction to Annabeth, she doesn’t actually have enough conversations with these men to know if they’re ready to be fathers. And the fact that men getting their PhDs is something she admires… I’m willing to bet a lot of these men aren’t (getting a PHD is already hard, but add a baby on top of that?!?!).
I still think Frederick’s neglect is his own fault, but to say that Athena cannot be blamed for choosing to have her, and then not even being sure if the man she had her with - who had no choice in the matter- even wanted a child? Yeah, that’s fucked up.
But Athena doesn’t even really care.
And I think that’s what bothers me in particular about Athena’s neglect. Is that she had a choice to have not have the children if she wasn’t going to raise them. She chose to have them, whether or not the men she liked even wanted kids.
But she had them anyways- because, again, she sees her children as a commodity.
Now this isn’t to say she has no redeemable qualities. She helped Annabeth find her way to Camp Half Blood. She gave her that invisibility cap. But here’s the thing- nearly every godly parent is seen helping their children in some form or another, or giving them gifts.
Even the bad ones.
Ares is probably a worse godly parent than Athena… but he still gave Clarisse her spear. Zeus turns Thalia into a tree to save her. And idk, I still feel like we all hate Zeus and Ares as parents.
That being said the Mark of Athena… that is what really confirms every negative thought I’ve had about Athena. That she sees her children as commodities and nothing else. Because as much as we love to try to explain it away by saying that it wasn’t actually Athena, it was Minerva… still Athena. Different form, maybe, but it is implied that these gods hold the same beliefs, so this is something that Athena thinks WHOLEHEARTEDLY.
Annabeth refuses to kill the Romans, and then her mother proceeds to call her nothing and disown her. Because again, Athena sees her children as commodities, nothing more. They are gifts given to men. They are resources for her to use to fight her battles- and this whole scene becomes worse when you considering what she was trying to get Annabeth to do-
To find the Mark of Athena, a quest so many of her children have died on, and yet she proceeds to keep sending her children on these quests. But she doesn’t care how many of her own children die on this quest- her pride is more important.

Children of Medusa.
•The sons of Medusa are more attractive than her daughters. because Poseidon, who saw their mother for the first time, decided that she was a young man. •Medusa is truly rich in sons. •The sons of Medusa possess stronger Charmspeak, her daughters are superhumanly strong even for demigods. •Their blood has the properties of their mother's and aunts' blood. •Their skin is partially covered with scales, and they also have snake-like features like a forked tongue and fangs. Unpleasant content!! •They have a difficult fate - most often their mortal parents die early, they are left alone and life is not going to feel sorry for them at all. But they never lose their resilience and hope. •They all, without exception, become victims of sexual violence, no matter how they are protected, even if it is a failed attack. This is a curse placed on them by Zeus for their mother's disobedience. Because of this, they can often have trust issues and post-traumatic stress. •They really protect and fiercely support the victims. •They despise rapists if they meet a rapist in real life, especially the rapist of their brother or sister... let them keep their secrets. They give the most horrible and creepy shovel talk to their siblings' friends and boyfriends/girlfriends. •They fiercely love and support each other. •They get tattoos with their mother to honor her and feel her protection on their skin. [By the way, here is my full headcount about the gorgon medusa tattoo, - she really protects those who tattoo her]
I LOVE THESE SO MUCH

Lore Olympus Episode 251 Spoilers
"Yet in spite of everything, [...] look at the man you've become."
You mean, a slave driver, an abusive dipshit and a horrible parent. Yeah, that's not the best argument, Persie.
I find it funny how LO often goes out of his way to have characters assure Hades that he's nothing like Kronos, but honestly? Hades is extremely similar to Kronos. Uncomfortably so.
They were both lonely and filled that void with women much younger than them, whom they were also in a position of power over, Kronos with Hera and Hades with Minthe and then Persephone.
Both like to play victim. Kronos loves to guilt-trip Hera for deceiving him and ignores that his actions would most certainly have doomed the world and Hera and the other Six Traitors had basically no choice but to fight back by any means necessary. Hades frequently whines to Persephone and others about how he feels oh-so-lonely and oh-so-isolated as King of the Underworld, ignoring that he himself is a huge reason for why other immortals percieve him as scary and unapproachable. He's constantly intimidating and bullying people with both his status and his money, see him threatening that one poor nymph with closing her business if she didn't give him private information about Persephone or him constantly antagonizing Demeter for no reason.
They're both tyrants. Kronos is self-explanatory. Hades is downright proud of exploiting the shades who come to the Underworld. He literally brags about making them perform unpaid labor. Hades also seemingly doesn't give a rat's ass about his people. He threatens both his employees and regular citizens on a daily basis. The only person in the Underworld he shows a modicum of care towards is Hecate and that's only becaus she's a long-time friend of his. And also because she actively enables all the shit named above. If you wanna cheat you could say that extends to Persephone, since she's also officially a citizen of the Underworld, but let's be real here, that's only because he's in love with her. I sincerely doubt Hades would put up an embargo and show up at a trial as the lawyer if any other citizen of the Underworld was being unfairly persecuted by Zeus.
Both Kronos and Hades are horrible parents. Kronos ate all of his sons alive but one and the only reason he didn't eat Zeus was because Rhea was wise enough to hide him away. Hades emotionally abused and neglected Thanatos for all his life, didn't show concern when Thanatos was M.I.A and when confronted by Thanatos over being a shitty father, instead of apologizing or showing anything even resembling remorse, he instead made excuses about how Thanatos wasn't throwing himself into his arms eager to be fathered after his own mother gave him up into child labor. I've said it before but I'm genuinely afraid for Dionysus, Hades isn't father material and I'm positive he'll repeat the same neglectful bullshit he pulled with Thanatos.
"There were times in the last few years of my life where I felt truly hopeless."
Sure would've been nice if we could've seen those times instead of time-skipping right over them. Persephone keeps talking about how hard the years in the Mortal Realm were, but all evidence we've had of that were her hands going green. And even that's gone now.
"But then I thought about you and [...] your capacity for love despite all the cruelty you faced."
Excuse me, what????
Name one person in this goddamn Webtoon Hades was ever genuinely loving towards that wasn't someone he once fucked or wanted to fuck.
I see the child is only referred to as 'the interloper' now. I'm guessing RS doesn't want readers to think too hard about the fact that hxp have been doing fuck-all to save an endangered child for several episodes.
And we're officially going for the "Delusional Jealous Woman" route with Leuce it seems. RS' hatred for all women that aren't her self-insert is so palpable it hurts.
"I miss Minthe."
Me too, Thetis, me too.
I'm honestly scared of where this whole Kassandra/Apollo thing is going, I don't want any more Apollo woobifying.

My favorite interpretation of the myth of Persephone is that it's not a story of abuse nor romance. Is the story of a woman that made her choices and had to face the concequences of them.
In my version she wasn't escaping from an evil mother, nor was she kidnapped from an horrible man.
She was a young woman who loved her mother but wished to be seen by her as as the grown adult she was and not the girl her mother wish to keep her as (hence her name being Kore wich means "Girl"). Her mother isn't suffocating her or mistreating her. But like parents often do, they wish to hold on to their babies a little longer and ignore that they are adults.
So when she meets Hades, she finds herself desired in a different way, a way that she didn't experience before since in her family. Finally she feels herself being treated her age, finally she feels like she is allowed to explore her desires and wants.
But she didn't tell her mother. Mind you she shouldn't have to ask for permission but at least give a warning could have been a good idea. But she had other things on her mind and she just didn't want to deal with her mother potentially telling her no and again forget that Persephone could make her decision. Maybe Demeter would have been like "Oh alright have fun dear!" but instead she never got to know that her daughter willingly left and like any good mother she freaked out.
When Zeus came down to tell his brother to give back the girl, Hades may have been completely compliant, maybe he was feeling bad about the whole misunderstanding, maybe he even planned to directly apologize to Demeter and then start to properly court Persephone and ask for her hand.
But again Persephone didn't talk to Hades about how she felt probably patronized by her mother making this whole big problem the SECOND she gets out of her side and feels embarrassed and upset. So out of spite she goes and eat the pomegranates. Personally the pomegranet id a symbol of sex, aka her and Hades hadn't even consumed the whole time that she had been down there. He doesn't give it to her, he doesn't shoves the seed in her mouth. She makes the choice or eating it, and she makes sure that it will be just enough to tie herself to him but enough to leave space to be able to come back (aka not get pregnant).
So now she is tied to a man that she doesn't know that well for half a year and the other half she can only be with her mother when in the surface. Because i know that Demeter will not let her out of her sight again. The trust between them is broken.
And in all of this Persephone get to taste freedom just for a little bit. Her and Hades will grow to love each other but maybe it could have been much more genuine and tender if they weren't forced to be together by a choice made on a wim.
She was not stupid or egoistic or a victim. She was a woman that wanted to make her own choices she made them and like the adult she is she faces the concequences.

Episode 243 criticism
Ok this chapter pissed me off so badly so let’s summarise:
1) Zeus was in labour & asked Persephone to help him because he didn’t trust anyone else to help him
2) Persephone cut the baby out of his leg. And can I just say she did it in the grossest way possible. Because:
- She didn’t use a sterilised knife or sterilised equipment. She picked up a random knife to cut him with
- She didn’t clean up the area before she cut it, she didn’t even clean the bed or provide a sterile environment to this
- She didn’t wash her hands. She stuck her hands into his thigh to pull the baby out without washing her hands. She did wear 1 glove (1! I don’t see the second hand get a glove anywhere and that’s the hand with the knife)
3) The moment she cleaned him she said ‘he looks like Hades.’ Zeus said it was a genetic thing and mentions how Kronos probably disliked how Hades looks like Kronos’s dad. I’ll say that that’s kind of interesting.
4) Zeus then mentions how he’s going to give Dionysus over to nymphs. And what does Persephone do? Refuse to hand the baby and activate her red eyes/wrath form.
Commentary:
This chapter was horrible. Persephone kidnaps a child immediately after the parent gives birth. She refuses to let said parent hold the baby and essentially kidnapped Dionysus (hence the ‘I messed up Hades’ a chapter before)
The narrative tries to make Zeus the villain even though he 1) recognised the danger of having a child 2) attempted to give him away to safe people and 3) arranged a better life that he couldn’t give.
And to be honest, his fear of Hera isn’t unfounded. She’s impulsive. She burnt down a portrait when her kids were in the house and endangers them as well.
There’s something so awful about framing this scene, the narrative makes Zeus seem awful for this. What implications does that have for biological parents giving away their child for a better life?
And what implications does that give to parents that adopt?
Also Persephone’s entitlement is off the charts. What right does she have to refuse the parent that just gave birth, the right to hold the child? What right does she have to take Dionysus? What right does she have to argue with the parent who already has made arrangements?
Why does she imply that the nymphs aren’t sufficient enough to take care of Dionysus? She gets mad immediately after Zeus brings up the arrangements made.
And can I just say, Persephone only got attached after she realised he looked like Hades.
How do I say that doesn’t seem healthy? I mean it seems like it’s bad news.
If your only reasoning for making a decision like ‘taking care of a child’ is ‘he looks like Hades’ that’s awful.
Actually, I think the reason that struck a chord with me was because:
- You should be prepared with children. If you immediately see your husband in your child what’s next? Is she going to expect him to grow up to be like Hades?
- She ghosted Hades after she made the decision to adopt. Does Hades even want to have a child right now? He mentioned a chapter ago that the relationship felt rushed.
- Lastly, it makes her reasons for wanting to take care of Dionysus seem selfish (because it is) She doesn’t want to take care of the baby because it’s a baby and she wants a kid. She wants Dionysus because he looks like Hades.
Power has gone to this girls head. She needs a reality check and fast. If Hades told her to give him to the nymphs and he’s not ready I’d actually support him for once. Which is hilarious cause I hate hate hate hate Hades.
Also, Zeus specifically sought Persephone out because out of everyone else. He trusted her the most!
She broke his trust by stealing his baby!
The audacity of it too, she took the baby, refused to give him the child and then took off. And all she can say is ‘I think I messed up.’ Like No shit Sherlock. Understatement of the century. Now she’s acting like she’s the victim here!
And the worst part? Realising that Zeus can’t speak up about the incident without telling anyone. He knows this. He doesn’t want anyone to know. Persephone knows this. That seems like blackmail.
I’m going to bring up my last point too. Is Persephone really mature? Because this shows the opposite.
This shows she’s immature and she definitely isn’t ready for her position as queen.
She has an entire realm to look after and all she can think about is getting married out of spite, and then jumping to have a kid when:
1) Kronos is out there
2) The underworld isn’t a safe place. Zeus had a point with the nymphs honestly because they’re probably in the mortal realm and right now the mortal realm is probably the safest place for a baby to be. Dionysus shouldn’t be in the underworld at all.
3) The baby Kronos has for some reason is in danger but she doesn’t care about that.
4) Dionysus is the god of MADNESS. Again, should he be in the underworld at all??? That seems like a bad situation waiting to happen.
Tldr: Persephone kidnapped a kid, refused their parent, adopted said kid and then made the choice to ghost her husband right after.
This chapter (again) sucked terribly. All it did was cement Persephone as a character who takes advantage of her power to get what she wants. That’s not ‘girlboss.’ She’s a horribly abusive character and her communication skills absolutely suck.
@/Acethena also mentioned that it’s odd how Persephone acts like this when she goes on about her own agency and how people take from her, yet here she is taking agency from a child.

what demigods from each cabin would get along together you think? Like I headcanon that the Hephaestus and Hecate kids get along because they’re always thinking up new things like be it spells or machinery. But I wanna hear your take on compatibility between godly parents? 😀
-Casimir 🔮Cabin 20🔮 Son of Hecate
oh i LOVE the idea of Hecate and Hephaestus kids getting up to mischief. I've thought about this a bit so I'll go through the ones I have strong dynamic ideas off the top of my head, sticking mostly to CHB's main 20 cabins and then a couple of bonuses. Also some bonus "who hates each other." (Under cut for length)
Ever since TLO the Apollo and Ares cabins have had an alliance. Mostly built out of the Ares kids feeling really guilty about arriving late to war and nearly all the Apollo kids dying in the Battle of Manhattan, wondering if there would have been fewer casualties between both cabins if they had gotten over their stubborn pride faster like the Apollo kids had. Ares kids kind of guard the Apollo kids and tolerate them more than other cabins, and the Apollo kids are considered off-limits for bullying.
Hephaestus, Ares, and Aphrodite kids have a very bizarre dynamic, besides the whole canonical love triangle curse nonsense they have going on. They tend to be drawn to each other one way or another. Very common to see them together. The question is just are they besties or are they trying to kill each other.
Big 3 kids either have immense solidarity or totally loathe each other and there's no in-between. Sometimes it's both.
Demeter and Hades kids have a very tenuous alliance. They're a little scared of each other. They would fight to the death over who gets to adopt a Persephone kid as a sibling though.
Besides Hades, Demeter kids either get along great or horribly with Big 3 kids. Again, no in-between, or sometimes both.
Zeus kids and Athena kids tend to get along like a house on fire. Insert School of Athens fresco here. They are Thinking Thoughts and will have the most passionate debates about the wildest topics you have ever heard.
Cabins 5 and 6 have a very strong ongoing rivalry. If it's a friendly rivalry or true rivalry shifts depending on counselors. They LOOOOVE competing with each other though, and have some amount of unwavering respect for each other as the war cabins. Post-TLO the Nike cabin starts getting in on that dynamic too and Cabins 5 and 6 are very excited for some new challenges.
Tyche and Nemesis cabins tend to be buddies
Apollo, Athena, Dionysus, and Iris cabins love being artsy together. 100% lead a lot of the art activities at camp.
Similarly, Athena, Apollo, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Hecate cabins love being nerdy together.
Chthonic solidarity! Hermes, Hades, Hypnos, Hecate, etc. Usually the other chthonic cabins are the only ones brave enough to poke fun at the Hades kids.
Mad scientist gang Athena, Hephaestus, Hecate. Sometimes the Apollo kids join in to help give them ideas and enable them.
Athena, Hecate, Apollo, and Hades meanwhile are Mad Scientist: Biology Edition™. They're dissecting weird stuff and will figure out how to make Frankenstein's monster.
Also, Athena, Apollo, Hebe - medical cabins gang. Vision/eye health, general health, and general health + youthfulness.
Demeter and Dionysus gardening buddies!!!!!! Sometimes they let the Apollo and Iris kids hang out too. Zeus and Poseidon kids are a strong "maybe."
Apollo and Hebe cabins get along super well, also with Zeus cabin. They're totally vibing being all youthful and beautiful together. Sometimes Aphrodite cabin also join them. Pretty cabins gangs.
Apollo, Iris, and Zeus cabins (and Hera cabin if there are actually any kids there for that. hi Jason) - sky deities buddies!
Dionysus cabin has a bizarre comradery with the Hades cabin nobody can figure out but everyone is mildly afraid of (it's Zagreus stuff).
Iris and Hermes kids get along super well. Iris cabin also probably loves hanging out with the Aphrodite and Apollo kids. They're talking about art and color theory.
Bonuses: Philotes + Aphrodite + Erotes kids obviously all get along fantastically. Psyche kids and Aphrodite kids either get along well or clash horribly.
Hebe and Ganymede kids are shaking hands. Cupbearer parents (who are also both youthful and pretty).
Iris and Arke kids are very one-in-the-same except the Arke kids all have So Many Problems. Iris kids tend to be "excuse me they asked for no pickles" on the Arke kids' behalf often.
Thetis kids and Arke kids have beef and it's kind of funny (cause Thetis got Arke's wings as a wedding gift after they were stolen from Arke as punishment for siding with the Titans).
Enyo/Bellona and Ares/Mars kids LOOOOVE each other. Immediate best friends. Same hat, spiderman pointing meme, etc etc. Absolutely built for each other. They just click. And also tend to enable each other a little bit. Do not let the Nike kids around both of them at the same time because they will all begin to enable each other in a feedback loop and get up to mayhem.

Watched Percy Jackson on Disney Plus. I'm new to the series so I don't know anything about it. Here are some thoughts I had about it.
Do not give me spoilers.
Sally said that just because someone looks like a hero doesn’t mean they are and just because someone looks like a monster doesn’t mean they are while looking at a statue of Medusa.I found out that Medusa was cursed (turned into the snake monster) by Athena for “allowing” herself to be raped.
Also, if you know anything about Greek Mythology the gods do some horrible things. Hades kidnaps Persephone and tricks her into eating fruit so she’ll be forced to stay with her and everyone I know says he’s the nicest or one of the nicest gods.
Percy getting expelled for ‘retaliating’ is so true to real life. Teachers and principles only see you stand up to bullies they never see the bullies bullying you.
I don’t like Sally. She should’ve told her son the truth years ago. I also don’t like the guy Sally is dating. I don’t know why she stays with him. I also can't remember his name.
The show says monsters are hidden from the human world by the mist, but Sally is able to see the Minotaur. And she knew about Mrs. Dobbs. I’m suspicious about that.
Percy’s only friend is a goat that’s twice his age. Is there a reason Grover who is 24 looks like a 12 year old? Do satrys age slower than human and demigod children?
Did Dionysius get kicked from Mt. Olympus or something? Why is he working as a camp counselor he clearly seems to hate it there and he has no interest in the children.
So there’s 12 cabins. 1 cabin for each of the god or goddesses children. Hermes’s cabin is for both his kids and unclaimed children. I have several thoughts on this. 1 I’m curious as to how people know for fact that someone is a demigod if their parent doesn’t claim them. Couldn’t they be half something else? 2 Percy is sleeping in the floor of the cabin. They can’t even bring a bunk bed in for him to sleep on. 3 As we see later on Poseidon’s cabin is completely empty because Poseidon is not allowed to have demigod children anymore so why didn’t they move the unclaimed children to his cabin?
So the gods don't have to claim their children ok. Please imagine one of the goddesses giving birth then claiming the child isn't hers.
Artemis: Not my kid.
Zeus: I just saw you give birth to him.
Artemis: Oh really? Do you want to talk about all of your illegitimate kids then?
Zeus: .....
Artemis: That's what I thought.
Of course the kid from Hermès the messenger god is the one to tell Percy how camp works and everything.
The 3 top gods made pact to not have anymore mortal children. And of course Zeus breaks this when he creates Thalia. Of course it would be Zeus to break this pact. Also I’m betting the reason Poseidon couldn’t claim Percy or be a father to him was because he was breaking the pact as well and he didn’t want Percy to get killed, but since the lightning bolt is gone he needs Percy to prove his innocence.
Clarisse says that if she maims Percy she’ll lose dessert privileges this camp is way too tame with bullies. And since Clarisse is so certain she won’t be punished any further that implies a camper maimed or killed another camper.
So Hades took Sally huh? Well Hades has been known to kidnap women (cough Persephone cough) Did he do this out of the goodness of his heart? To spite his brothers? To gain another lover? Who knows.
After the fountain incident and the bathroom incident everyone including Percy is shocked to discover that his dad is Poseidon.

Remember how I said I'm reading the Iliad? Well, I'm nearly done with it, and near the end it reminded me of something that I had forgotten about.
Achilles only went to war because he was fated to either die young there and win eternal glory, or grow old and dull and forgotten. Legacy is what the warriors of the time lived for, so he and Patroclus went.
He refused to fight in combat after one of the Greek leaders disrespected him greatly, and was told to not fight until the Trojans began winning so he could come out and fight and win his honor back, by his mother, who goes and begs Zeus to grant Achilles glory.
Patroclus was Achilles' friend/lover, and Patroclus died because he was so consumed by the fear that the Greeks would lose and that Achilles would die, so he went in Achilles' armor.
Achilles, in his grief, refused to eat or drink, and promised to bring down man-slaying Hector, the warrior who killed Patroclus.
Achilles, when he kills the other man, slices his ankles open and slides in a leather strap, ties it to his horse, and drags Hectors body through the dirt and dust. Humiliation is considered one of the worst things to happen to anyone back then.
In a dream, Patroclus tells Achilles to bury him quickly, as unburied dead are unable to pass into Hades' halls, and also requests of him to have their bones buried together.
Achilles complies.
It's the reason why the Iliad starts off with some variation of "sing, o Muse, at the rage of Achilles."
This is how Wednesday would react to Enid's death, especially in a war-time situation.
Enid is a kind, caring person— fitting how Patroclus is described. She wouldn't want all this war, all she'd want is her and Wednesday to stay together, alone on some little island.
But Wednesday likes to be the best, the person above all, so she would go.
Enid would absolutely be consumed by the fear of Wednesday dying. She'd stay up at night, next to her, running her fingers over smooth skin and wish they could just go home, leave this all behind and rest together until their old days.
Wednesday, though, we know to be headstrong in her endeavors, wouldn't listen to Enid if she was begged to stay, to grow old and forgotten.
Enid would be smart enough to think of wearing Wednesday's armor, and lovingly stupid enough to risk herself to save her and their friends.
Wednesday would stop at nothing to get revenge, all glory and wealth forgotten, because she's lost her Enid. Her life and light.
Wednesday is the kind of enraged, mourning lover to slit the ankles of Enid's killer and drag them through dirt and earth, shocked gods and horrified parents be damned.
Wednesday is the kind of desperate, hurt lover to want hers and Enid's bones buried together, so that they may be together forever in Hades' halls.
And Enid is the kind of lover, who can know Wednesday through all the awful things she's done, and still love her, even though war and all its tears split them apart.
-Writer Anon.
Tumblr media
Honest reaction to an au thought of one half of Wenclair living and the other gone. Like I can live with one where they couldn't get together (Hermit au) but one where the other is dead!?
Horrible.
But you are so right writer anon. Omygod Wednesday is so obviously know to be stubborn esp in terms of pride so I bet she felt like she was slapped in the face when she realizes that Enid went in her stead in some attempt to protect her
Her: the untouchable warrior, the one who is supposed to care for them both
I don't think Wednesday could even be mad at Enid because that was just how she is, too loving, too good and not at all supposed to be in these troubling times
They're simply so.. :-:

My first concepts for Persephone! The Goddess and Queen herself~ Please excuse my writing, i have adhd and im just writing what pops into my head cause im running a blank
Lets talk about this;
So im a pale white chick and idk i guess i always lean towards pale white chicks (?) but im trying real hard to mix up my norm with new things, but my brain keeps loving the 3rd colour option qnq
I also have stretch marks under my boobs, idk if thats normal but thats where mine are so thats where i put some for her.
My Perse is half mortal so i was trying to keep that in mind but also make her look half godly which, turns out, is a lot harder than i thought.
I know i want her to have sun-kissed skin with many freckles, that just makes sense to me as the Goddess of spring, but i wanted her to be in a more peach/pink hue, thus the more 'red' skin
I also plan for her to get a bit more pale and skinner while in the underworld since there isn't any sun and she cant eat the food there, she dose eat, nyx bring her food from up top but thats only like one meal a day.
I wanted her to have curly thick hair.
At one point was making her look very deer like (check under cut for more info) thus the birch 'antlers' on the 3rd.
She'd normally have long hair but she cuts it when she runs away which is why theres a bunch of different hair styles. The outfit is inspired/taken from Blood of Zeus but drawn horribly cause idk how the fabric would flow.
Im thinking ill need to draw her parents before i get her final done but i have 0 ideas for demeter...
Just a bunch of sketches and more random nots under cut
Tumblr media
So this is acutely the first time ive drawn such a curvy body and stretch marks so i wanted to play around it before sitting down and drawing it, i was having such a lot of trouble with it but after getting some good refs i think i was able to get what i was looking for.
I was also trying to figure out what kind of art style i wanted to go for this. I figured that since this is going to be a comic ill go for my easier more cartoon style
This is what i mean by deer look. The idea was that her God Form was very deer inspired since i associate deer with spring but deer a main symbol for Artemis and im not sure if shes going to be included in the story and if i need to bring the deer motif back for perse,,
I mostly like to focuse on character design and concept since its where id like my day-time job to be so im really trying here but id love some feed back and ideas if you guys have any!
