What Fallout Games Should I Play?
Hello! My name is Skipper, and the Fallout games has been a special interest of mine for a few years now. With the resurgance of the fandom, and new people coming from the shows, I figured I'd make a post helping people figure out what games to play!
This is going to be the main 6 games (1-4, 76, NV), though I may add more if I play some of the other games. Feel free to add on, ask questions, or generally interact with this! I'm always happy to help people get into the games and love talking Fallout with people. :)
This is going to be as spoiler-free as possible, though I may mention some game locations vaguely, so be warned if you think that may ruin the experience.
For further reading, I highly reccomend the Independent Fallout Wiki! A lot less ads in your way, and the people over there are lovely. However, be careful, as there are spoilers there!
TLDR; New Vegas for story, Fallout 4 for gameplay and introducing concepts, Fallout 1 for authenticity, and Fallout 76 for multiplayer but absolutely nothing else of value.

Fallout 1
Released; 1997
Setting; Southern California, 2161
Wiki Page
Almost a hundred years after the bombs fell, Vault 13's water chip has broken, and the Vault Dweller was selected (through random chance) to venture out into the wasteland and save their vault.
Pros:
The Original Fallout Game!
One of my favourites, story-wise.
Harold!
The game is relatively short compared to the others, and the story isn't overly hard to digest, in my opinion.
The 'talking heads' animations are super cool (Aradesh, Harold, Etc Etc)
Later character who I won't name but once you meet them YOU'LL KNOW
There's no limit to how many companions you can have at a time
I generally love the setting.
Cons:
The graphics do not age well. Even for the time, they were a bit lacking. (For reference, Doom came out in 1993, 4 years earlier).
Bit of a learning curve! But once you get it, it's pretty easy to use. The turn-based combat was the hardest to get a handle on.
The game DOES NOT hold your hand. Later games have objective lists and markers, but this game just has a list and memory. Pretty fun, if you're into a more difficult game!
Combat and general survival is difficult. The experience is authentic - which means you can and will die during the first combat scenario. Again, once you get it it's not that bad, but combat will remain difficult. But for some this could be a pro!

Fallout 2
Released; 1998
Setting; Southern California, 2241
Wiki Page
80 years after the Vault Dweller's heroic rescue of their Vault, the village of Arroyo is suffering a severe drought. The Chosen One, a descendant of the Vault Dweller, has been sent to retrieve a G.E.C.K. to save their village.
Pros
The story again is very good!
A lot of the strengths of the previous game.
There's something melancholy about exploring the world of Fallout 1 with so many changes and losses. It's perfect for the setting.
Sergeant Dornan. You'll see when you meet him.
More Harold!
Cons
This was released only a year after Fallout 1, so a lot of the graphics & gameplay remain the same, if that's not something you're a fan of.
This is where the idea of "wacky vault experiments" is introduced, something I've never super loved, but that's subjective.
Tumblr media
Fallout 3
Released; 2008
Setting; Capital Wasteland (Formerly Washington, D.C.), 2277
Wiki Page
200 years after the war, the 19-year-old Lone Wanderer's father has mysteriously left their home at Vault 101. It is up to the Lone Wanderer to track him down and figure out what's going on, all while navigating the dangerous Capital Wasteland.
Pros
Brought the Fallout series into the modern era!
Some pretty cool locations, like Megaton and Rivet City
Sort of a pro and con, a lot of the game is spent in the underground Metro system. This is cool, but I'm not a huge fan of interior spaces. Still - it feels like a real DC Wasteland!
Galaxy News Radio is introduced, which is great background noise - and I love Three Dog. He's so silly.
No sprint button. It's not felt super bad in this game compared to Vegas, but it still can be annoying.
It feels like a post-apocalypse. The whole world is this muddy, almost sickly green, grey, and brown colour. All of the sets are carefully designed, full of dirt and debris and trash. Buildings are crumbling or outright hollowed out, the ghouls look like walking corpses (as they should be), the mole rats are nasty and all of the creatures feel gross. As they should be! This is a post-apocolypse, everything should be gross and dirty!
Lots of good world-building. Because this is based in the Capital, we get to interact with a lot of old-world history, and see how similar and different it is from our own.
Cons
Story is... not great, in my opinion.
Some of those DLCs physically hurt me. They definitely lean into the 'silly' aspects of the games, but I feel it hurts the worldbuilding and realism.
NOT Bethany Esda's best work.
Leans more into the 'game' and less on the 'role-playing', which was a big part of Fallout 1 and 2. The protagonist is 19, their father is James, and we see a bit of what their childhood looked like. You can work around it, but it's not as fun as the other games.
Sometimes the npcs are annoying. There's collision in this game, but sometimes if you step on something it'll move and a npc will shout 'Watch where you're going' or something, which gets on my nerves. Also, if you so much as look at a locked container, you get a 'That's locked for a reason'. Probably minor, but annoying.
Fire ants.

Fallout: New Vegas
Released; 2010
Setting; Mojave Wasteland (Formerly Mojave Desert), 2281
Wiki Page
Courier Six, or just the Courier, is in the middle of a delivery when they are interrupted by Benny and shot in the head - though they make a miraculous recovery and now need to figure out exactly what kind of mess they've landed themselves in this time.
Pros
I mean, it's Fallout New Vegas. This is a lot of people's favourite, for good reason. Story is phenomenal, the entire world feels real and interactive. If you shoot someone, there's consequences, and the other npcs will acknowledge it.
THE BEST radio. All of the music slaps and helps you feel the setting. Plus, I love Mr. New Vegas, the radio host.
The characters are amazing.
The world is not too silly but still silly. Like yeah, this makes sense for a post-apocalypse. But it's also so objectively funny. Some of the best memes come from this game.
Yes Man.
As usual, I love the map design.
Instead of greens for Fallout 3, this game is bathed in oranges and brown - making it feel warm, perfectly capturing the desert setting, and dusty.
the DLCs are amazing!!
We love the companions in this house.
I love how morally grey it is. No one is perfect, no faction is outright good or outright bad (except the Legion, fuck those guys). It's up to you to pick which you think is the lesser evil, which is the best future for the Mojave. Or you can kill them all, up to you.
Cons
The development for this game was pretty famously rocky. It was outsourced to Obsidian, and they were given only 18 months to make it. Therefore, this game is very similar to Fallout 3, with some general improvements here and there.
There is still no sprint button, which is definitely felt here. A lot of the stuff is spread out, so thewre's a lot of wandering through desert, slowly making your way to your destination. It also feels more empty. The great city of New Vegas is sparsely populated, quiet, and desolate - despite it being such a big deal and supposedly so popular.
Honest Hearts DLC :////
Tumblr media
Fallout 4
Released; 2015
Setting; The Commonwealth (Formerly Boston, MA), 2287
Wiki Page
In 2077, the Sole Survivor (default names Nate or Nora) is ready to start a family. In their little neighbourhood, with their white picket fence and infant son, it is a time of new beginnings - despite the war raging around them. Unfortunately, the war quickly catches up to them, and their family is forced to take shelter in Vault 111, where they are frozen in time for 210 years. They emerge following the kidnapping of their infant son, into a time so different to their own, battling this new world alongside the ghosts of the old.
Pros
The graphics have been updated, and it looks great! Mostly. Instead of washed-out greens and browns, this game is bright and vibrant.
Some more awesome companions. Honestly, I love them so much.
I really like the level-up system in this. I prefer 3/NV, but the tier system is fun and visually neat.
Better crafting system. And more crafting systems in general.
Settlements!!! This game introduces settlements, which basically means there's a bunch of set locations around the map that you can take over and build in! You get a lot of freedom and are responsible for meeting the needs for people in the settlement. You can get some mods for more freedom/flexibility, and you can mostly ignore it if you want.
Cons
The story is... also lacking. It feels almost... unfinished? Some beats are strange and it's just like. What.
Playing this before Fallout 3 pissed me off so much, because there's so much that is ripped off of Fallout 3. The Commonwealth is brought up, the radio music is the same, the vault numbers so similar, there's even an early version of Vault 111. It feels lazy. Fallout New Vegas was more creative, and they had a fraction of the time 4 has.
40-50% of the game is spent in loading screens.
Preston Garvey deserves so much better. "AnOtHeR sEtTlEmEnT nEeDs YoUr HeLp!"
Nick Valentine is non-romancable.
It's so easy to forget about the main objective, and hard to really care about it. This is a common problem I've heard, so it's not just me.
Radio host gets on my nerves :/
Nuka-World DLC is frustrating. But at least it's not. Sideyes Honest Hearts (Fo:NV).
Game is... easy. Too Easy. Deathclaws are supposed to be dangerous and difficult to kill.
Tumblr media
Fallout 76
Released; 2018
Setting; Appalachia (Midwestern US mountain range), 2102-2104
Wiki Page
25 years after the bombs fell, all members of Vault 76 have been kicked out in order to rebuild society.
Pros
It's. Multiplayer? Kinda.
I made some friends on there, which was neat.
Return of item condition. So.
CAMPs are fun. Like the settlement but without NPCs to look after and allows location flexibility.
Has. Some new songs on the radio?
ALMOST HEAVEN. WEST VE-
Amazing map design! The outside is gorgeous and feels like Appalachia, for the most part.
Honestly, I prefer this version of VATS (the game's targeting system). In other games, VATS will pause and slow down combat to help with aim, and can be kind of annoying. Here, the combat speed is the same, you just spend some AP (stamina) for aim assist.
Cons
I prefer settlements tbh
What's not to mention? Story sucks, game sucks, etc etc. It's pretty famously bad.
I usually love the story, but checked out very fast and spent most of my time running around. But I honestly didn't last long even then.
The game is broken. Like, fundamentally broken. You are constantly subjected to crashes, bugs, etc etc. Fallout 4 is buggy, but this takes it to an extreme.
50-70% of the game is loading screens.
The interiors are huge, and there is no local map, so you very easily get lost.
Generally the story is so stupid.
Fallout 1st is a cash grab.
Unbalanced.
Bad.
Some videos I like about Fallout 76
Internet Historian's video on the history and release. I'm iffy on Internet Historian as a creator, but I do like the video. Let's just hope it's not plagiarised.
Joseph Anderson's video on the game at it's released state. Primarily focuses on how poorly the game plays and how broken it is. Super funny.
PrivateSession's video released in 2023, reviewing a more current version of the game. More focused on story.
PatricianTV's 4-part series released in 2023, reviewing a more current version of the game. More focused on the game and gameplay.
Tumblr media
In conclusion; thank you for reading! As I mentioned, any criticism, questions, and suggestions are welcome! I hate/love fallout and am always happy to drag people down with me.
Also, would people be interested in a post discussing the story/setting/timeline? Like where I infodump further about the universe. To make it easier to digest and answer questions. Or give me a chance to infodump further about fallout.

It's Taylor Swift release day so here's my ranking of all her albums that no one cares about.
1. evermore - subjective perfection. It's as if someone produced a perfect mixture of what I want Taylor to sound like. Incredible, it's a shame she didn't stick to that vibe. Cowboy like me is her best song. She should fire Antonoff and just stick with Dessner.
2. folklore - just slightly behind evermore. It's the one that got me into her music. Wonderful songwriting, great production. Also all the songs are easy to learn and sound great on guitar which is a wonderful addition.
3. 1989 - the perfect Taylor pop record. I was honestly pissed at the Taylor's version because it messed up the pace of the album so badly.
4. Speak Now - sonically diverse, not a single weak spot in this one. Last Kiss is her second best song. Long Live, Dear John, Mean - so many iconic songs on this one. It's also her first album where the songwriting really shines.
5. Fearless - love the vibe of her still being in her country phase but slowly leaning closer to pop. The upbeat songs are great but the slower and sadder ones don't land as hard as on other albums.
6. reputation - another really good Taylor pop. A bit edgier 1989. Don't Blame Me, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, Getaway Car, Dress and New Year's Day are the highlights.
7. Red - THE Taylor Swift album if we're being honest. It's the one that cemented her as a superstar. A lot of great songs here - State Of Grace, Red, Holy Ground, I Knew You Were Trouble, WANEGBT, All Too Well (especially the 10 minute version). Also some of the best Vault tracks (again, especially the 10 Minute ATW). But it's kind of bloated, with quite a few songs that could be cut and not much would be lost.
8. Taylor Swift - I loooove country Taylor. It's a shame this era ended so quickly. Picture To Burn, Should've Said No, I'm Only Me When I'm With You, Our Song? BANGERS. Every track that's a bit slower here is just a skip tho.
9. Lover - bloaaaated. Some phenomenal stuff. False God, which I'm pretty sure is the only saxophone part in Taylor's discography. Cruel Summer, The Archer, DBATC, Lover, Daylight, all really good tracks. But the lows are really low. ME! with Brendon Urie is a crime, and You Need To Calm Down and The Man are not much better. Also it's the album repsonsible for the gaylors.
10. Midnights - I still haven't forgiven her that disastrous rollout. 15 different versions, a special song available only on the variant sold in one venue. There are 23-26 tracks in total (again, thanks to that mess it's hard to tell) and you could easily remove about 13 to have a much better album without losing nothing of value
11. The Tortured Poets Department - maybe it will grow on me but I doubt that. This one is also so bloated, with some very bizzare lyrical choices. That one line in the article about the songwriting collapsing under the weight of the lore was so real. I appreciate that she plays with her vocals more than usual here. Also the moment Dessner takes over the album immediately gets better. FIRE JACK ANTONOFF. Anyway, it's quite a disappointment for now. I've been happier about getting one Cassandra Jenkins track a few days ago than getting two hours of Taylor today.

So as someone who writes a lot of theories on the Silver Eyes and the gods of RWBY, I figure it’s about time I address one particular point:
I am, at the very least, HIGHLY skeptical of the idea that the origin of the Silver Eyes are simply that the SEWs are the descendants of various Oz-carnations. Simply because I find the theory extremely sketchy for a NUMBER of reasons.
First off, yes this information was first posited by Kerry in the Volume 6 commentary track. But really think about that for a minute. We have seemingly an extremely important bit of lore being delivered out-of-series in a commentary track. I’d say that alone puts this theory in ‘take with a grain of salt’ territory.
Next, just the idea that the Silver Eyed Warriors inherited their power from Oz is actually pretty head-scratching when you consider that the SEW have abilities that Oz does not. I mean, if Oz could vaporize Grimm with a glance, he probably would have been a BIT more confident fighting Salem openly. And of course I think we can all agree that Ozpin’s fight with Cinder in volume 3 would have gone VERY differently. So, I really have to question HOW the Silver Eyed Warriors are supposed to have inherited a power from Oz that Oz doesn’t seem to have ever possessed himself?
There are also some weird narrative contradictions to the Silver Eyed Warriors originating from Oz. Like the recurring trend with Oz has been that all of his attempts to help humanity have always been well-meaning but misguided in a way that causes all of them to fall apart in one way or another:
Oz tries to fight Salem in the shadows to avoid stoking fear among humanity, but that just makes it easier for Salem to sow discord and remain an unknown threat.
Oz creates the Maidens, likely in an attempt to give humanity their own guardians against the forces of Salem, but now that power has lost all meaning and is now simply fought over.
Oz lifts the kingdom of Atlas into the sky to serve as a beacon of hope, but now it’s become nothing but corrupt and power-hungry.
Oz ties the Maidens to the Relic Vaults so they may become guardians once more, but that only serves to put an even BIGGER target on their backs.
And the thing is, the Silver Eyed Warriors don’t follow that trend. Everything we’ve seen thus far paints the SEWs as an unambiguous good. We’ve seen no sign of Silver Eyes Warriors who became corrupt or turned evil. It seems the only ‘failure’ of the SEWs is that they haven’t had the opportunity to truly live up to their potential. They’ve always been scattered and disorganized and easy for Salem or just grimm to take out. None seem to have really figured out the full capabilities of their powers or even figured out where they even come from, before Ruby and Maria saw Jinn’s vision anyway. So it feels weird that the Silver Eyes originate from Oz when all of his other attempts to help humanity don’t live up to what he hoped.
Also, over the course of the show, Oz has not actually shown or implied to have any real connection to the Silver Eyed Warriors. Like he clearly knows about the Silver Eyed Warriors from his stories to Qrow, but he also doesn’t seem to know all that much about the Silver Eyes. I mean, consider that it’s NOT Ozpin who actually teaches Ruby how to use her Silver Eyes, but instead it’s Maria, another Silver Eyed Warrior. When we look at Oz’s many plans to resist Salem and protect humanity; the Maidens, the Vaults, the Huntsmen Academies and his inner circle of followers, it seems like the Silver Eyed Warriors have never factored in all that heavily. Sure, they seem to have overlapped from time to time, and Oz clearly seems to have known and worked with Silver Eyed Warriors over the years, but never seems to have worked them heavily into his plans. Like we never hear about Oz putting lots of effort into locating Silver Eyed Warriors or creating some unified order of SEWs. Basically, the Silver Eyed Warriors have always felt fairly disconnected from what Oz is doing.
Finally, does anyone else feel like a reveal that the Silver Eyed Warriors came from Oz would be kinda… disappointing? Like feeling pretty anticlimactic and not in any kind of meaningful way. It’s just ‘Oh, the Silver Eyes came from Oz just like the Maiden Powers. That’s cool.’
I mean, I feel like the Silver Eyes should represent something bigger than Oz. Like they’re something even he doesn’t understand and has origins that he never knew about. Imagine if, while Oz has been divvying up tiny scraps of power left behind by the gods, the Silver Eyed Warriors have been unknowingly holding the true essence of the God of Light this whole time? Whereas Oz, Salem, the Maidens, the Grimm and the Relics are all simply the remnants of the old world, what if the Silver Eyes represent something NEW?

It was early morning. But today was Franny's lucky day. She was allowed to sleep in. The Shelby brothers were going to the fair. Or at least that's what Thomas told John and Arthur. He did however talk with Franny about the real appointment.
Thomas was taking his brothers to Johnny Doggs. A good friend of Thomas. He was handed a pretty good racing horse which he really wanted. Thomas was trying to expand their business with the horse tracks by having their own horses. And because Tommy was pretty sure he wasn't getting any money from Polly he asked the second in charge of the fault. Franny had crossed her arms and looked at him sheepishly. 'You know I actually quite like this job I have. Would be a shame if I lost it because Polly fucking bewitched me.'
Thomas had assured her it wasn't like that and she instead of getting the money herself had given Thomas the code of the vault. It changed daily thankfully. But when Franny heard the noise on the streets she was wide awake. It was horses their hoofs were clattering on the streets. ‘Franny get dressed.' Her father stormed into her room.
'I thought you were at work but it’s about to get fucking insane with coppers.' Her dad was still holding his cup of coffee. 'I have a little authority but not much.' he told her before walking out to let her get changed. 'For fucks sake' Franny cursed beneath her breath. She jumped out of bed and pulled on the dress that was on the chair of her bedroom she dressed quickly. When her father yelled from downstairs.' Francis!' 'Coming father.' She said while stumbling from the stairs.
Ada was standing in the opening of the backdoor. She was standing there with Freddie Thorne. Both Franny and her father were no commie fans, but it looked like they were in a bad position. Ada was wearing just her coat and her pajama's beneath it, still trying to pull her socks up. 'Upstairs Ada.' Franny pushed her upstairs.
'Explain.' Franny's father said to Freddie.'I can't stay the coppers are rounding up the communists.' he explained while putting on his coat. 'Freddie where are you gonna go.' Ada said standing up the stairs. 'Me? I have to leave town for a bit.' he said before blowing her a kiss and thanking Franny and her father. ‘Ada come on, get a dress from my room.' Franny shooed her upstairs.'Hopefully were safe then.' Franny said to her father while she started making tea.
'As long as you’re not in the horse shit her brothers are in, you're fine.' Her father said while sitting down grabbing his cup of coffee. Later in the afternoon Thomas, John, and Arthur came back to Watery Lane. To see it in a complete mess. 'What in the bloody hell happened here.' Arthur shouted. 'Get Franny.' Thomas said to John before stopping the car. He jumped out towards the Corbynn household. Thomas and Arthur kept on going to the Shelby household. But everyone was already there. Even Franny.
She was lighting herself a cigarette and lighting Polly's too. After a few minutes, John came back holding a bucket full of beer. he started handing everyone a mug. When he was done he snatched Franny’s cigarette.'I was going to fetch ya, but your dad told me you were already here looking at the damage.' he said with a smirk.' Can't leave us alone can ya?'
Franny looked at him. and just raised her eyebrow, before she could even speak up Arthur started talking. 'I said nothing to that copper about smashing up bloody houses. ''All right.' Thomas said when he walked in stealing the cigarette John had stolen from Franny. 'The guns, the Chain, The marquis.' Franny summed up grabbing back her own cigarettes from Thomas.
To which a few of the men behind Arthur hold their breath. Thomas was a fearless man, you can't just speak up against him, or even look at him the wrong way. But Franny had been around for so long he could have her wit. He didn't even look up and lit a cigarette of his own pack. 'All the ones that pay you to protect them.' Polly added to Franny. 'The only one they didn't touch was the Garrison.' Polly said inhaling a swig of her cigarette. 'Make sure people think we’re in on it.' Franny said as she tapped the ash of her cigarette.' He's smart this copper.' Polly said to Thomas.
'So go on. Drink your beers, get out!' Polly said to the guys who were just looking at their beers.' You'd better show people you are still the cocks of the walk.' 'Hand out some cash to the landlords of the pubs.' Thomas said when everyone stood up. 'Pay some veterans to fix the places up. ''Fran could you get the money?' he asked. To which she stood up and walked out back.
When Arthur and John stood up to get their coats Polly reminded them to show their faces so people would see they weren't in on this raiding the coppers had done. Polly closed the doors to the shop. So she and Thomas could have a private chat. Little did they know Franny was still out back to fetch the money they had asked for. 'He's not gonna stand back till he has those guns back.' Polly told Thomas. At that same moment, Fran burst in with the money.
And you could see the color shoot out of Polly's face. Thomas however did not even move except bringing the cigarette to his mouth. 'Sit.' He just said to Franny. Which she directly did. 'Did he talk to ya Poll?' Thomas asked Polly. 'In the church' she answered. 'Did he try to find our Ada?' He asked. Polly was not directly answering.
'Ada was with me this morning.' Franny said. 'We drank tea and were going to spend the day at the fair. Till those fucking coppers showed up.' Thomas looked up and looked straight into her eyes. These weren't normal eyes. Thomas had very very dark eyes he stared straight through your soul. But Franny knew him longer than that.
'She was, you gave me the morning off remember? What else was I supposed to do.' Thomas pushed out his cigarette. ‘He knows that you are the boss, he wants to meet you.' Polly said to Thomas. 'Will you talk to him?'
'No.' Thomas plainly said looking at the wallpaper. 'You don't parley when you're on the back foot. We'll strike a blow back first.' He said looking at Polly. 'Good.' Franny said. Both Thomas and Polly looked up at her. 'What if, we burn all the pictures of the king.' Franny said while lighting a cigarette. ‘Give everyone something for their picture and burn it. I'll call my dad to put in the paper as a statement. Everyone will read it.' She inhaled her tug of the cigarette and looked at the both of them. Thomas just nodded his head.
'Get your coat.' He said to Franny and the both of them walked out of the house. Later that evening Franny was walking with Finn. 'You get the picture out of the Garrison.' she said to him. She saw John walking with his hand full of pictures of the king. 'Fran, what are you doing out this late?' he asked her with a smug smile on his face. 'Here let me hold a few for you.' She said as she got a few smaller pictures herself. 'Finn is fetching the one in the Garrison.' she told him.
'Well let's get to the fire.' he said pulling her with him they were both smirking and walking towards the middle of Watery Lane. Finn came running along with the picture of the Garrison. By the entry of the street. Where the street was called Watery Lane were parked multiple cars. To block down the entryway for people who didn't need to be there. 'John.' Scudboat and the other Blinder Franny hadn't met yet tipped their hat at John.'Miss Corbynn.' both of them said nodding to her.
Finn was running past them to the fire. When they had passed the blinders John and Franny shared a look together. Before the both of them snort their laughter. 'Miss Corbynn.' John said. 'You sound like Royalty.' Franny was rolling with her eyes as they joined the others by the fire. Finn was throwing the pictures Franny was holding into the fire. People were cheering as they saw the pictures of the king burn.
'Chuck them on boys.' Thomas said. Everyone was holding drinks. John got handed a cup of beer and he looked at Franny. ‘We need some more here.' he shouted back. 'Oh no need, I brought my own.' Franny said as she opened her coat and pulled out a bottle of whiskey. John was blinking a few times before handing Finn his cup and throwing his pictures on the fire too.
'Finn!' Franny said snatching the cup from him as he was sipping it.' You're 10!' She said patting him on his hat. 'Still 11 Sunday.' he said cockily to which John patted him on his back. 'Where did you get that bottle Fran?' Arthur said with a smirk. 'I need to get me some of that.' he said which Franny handed him the bottle.
Arthur chewed the cork of the bottle and spit it in the fire before taking a big chug. 'I hope to god you know what you're doing.' Arthur said to Thomas. Thomas looked over at Franny. 'He's coming right?' 'Absolutely.' she answered Both Arthur and John were looking mildly confused by that. When Franny took the bottle from Arthur again and took a sip herself. ‘Still impressed you're one of the first women I can actually say can hold her own with drinking. And you're not even a gypsy!' John said patting her on the back.
'I need to do something to keep my sanity with you three.' She said as she handed the bottle to John. To which the three of them looked at her. John with a 'fake' hurt feeling on his face. Arthur with the confused excuse me look. And Thomas just with a neutral expression. But Franny could see he was trying to not smile behind his cigarette.
After a few minutes of listening to everyone around the fire. And trying to hold Finn from not lighting woman’s skirts on fire. She saw her dad coming at them. 'Tommy! someone here for ya.' Scudboat said. 'Thomas Fran said you had something I could put on the morning paper.' Franny's father said walking up to the Shelby brothers. 'I have.' Thomas said taking another hit of his cigarette. 'So tell me what's going on?' He asked pulling out his notebook. 'I like you.' Thomas said as he was looking at the notebook.
'Now, first of all, It's not the people around here who are disloyal to the King.' Thomas started.' It's the opposite. You see, we don't want our beloved King looking down and seeing the things that are being done to us. So we are taking down his pictures. ' Thomas was calmly explaining looking directly into the fire. 'But Thomas, why are you burning them?' Fran’s father asked. 'We went through hell for our King. The same goes for you. Walked through the flames of war And now we're being attacked in our own homes. These new coppers over from Belfast, breaking into our homes and interfering with our women. We don't think our King would want to see that happening. So we're lighting fires to raise the alarm.' Thomas had turned to speak to Fran's father directly when he started to mention the war. They had fought alongside each other.
'May I ask you, in what capacity do you speak?' Fan's father asked. 'None.. No capacity. I am an ordinary man. I won gallantry medals at the Somme. I want you to write in your paper what's going on here.' Thomas said throwing the last piece of his cigarette in the fire. 'Thanks, Thomas, I shall get to the office.' Fran's dad said.
'Arthur will bring ya.' Thomas said as he threw Arthur the car keys. 'Thank you.' He answered. But before he went he walked over to Franny.' It's getting late I think it's for the best I'll take you home first.' He said putting a hand on her head.' Oh, it's fine Mr. Corbynn.' John said. 'I'll bring her home.' 'That would be great John. Thankyou.' He said before kissing Franny's head and walking off with Arthur.

Spotify end-of-year overview!
Tumblr media
So that is what Spotify claims.
However I requested a download of my data through Spotify to find the truth, because once again I was missing K3.
Tumblr media
(^Because the GDPR is the thing that makes this all possible, it should get some recognition)
This year seems actually less off than other years, but again I was right in missing K3.
These are my actual top artists:
1) Taylor Swift (with 7432 minutes listened) 2) K3 (with 5683 minutes listened) 3) Olivia Rodrigo (with 1981 minutes listened) 4) Ed Sheeran (with 1779 minutes listened) 5) SIX (with 1048 minutes listened)
This seems pretty comparable to what Spotify is saying, of course with K3 inserted. HOWEVER, Lin-Manuel Miranda is only 9th on my list?? The Matilda the Musical cast, Queen and Shania Twain are all ranked higher. A possible answer to this is that it seems like the data Spotify gave me has trouble with tracks featuring multiple artists. All those songs only list one artist. It could be that all the musical ensemble songs are therefore not properly taken into account.
Okay, so moving on to my top songs, I once read that your wrapped top 10 is supposed to be accurate and the other 90 songs are more randomly placed to give a better division of songs in the playlist, so lets list all 10 songs they gave me:
1) The Man 2) All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault) 3) good 4 u 4) Would've, Could've, Should've 5) We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Taylor's Version) 6) Man! I Feel Like A Woman! 7) brutal 8) Promises 9) Anti-Hero 10) Eyes Closed
And the top 10 songs I got from the data:
1) The Man (with 110 streams) 2) All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault) (with 104 streams) 3) Kijk ons nou (uit Liefde Voor Muziek) - Live (with 89 streams) 4) Would've, Could've, Should've (with 85 streams) 5) good 4 u (with 84 streams) 6) We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Taylor's Version) (with 84 streams) 7) Part of Your World (Carly Rae Jepsen cover) (with 81 streams) 8) deja vu (with 79 streams) 9) brutal (with 78 streams) 10) Oya Lélé (with 77 streams)
And these are the spots of the songs not in my actual top 10:
11) Man! I Feel Like A Woman! (with 74 streams) 12) Eyes Closed (with 74 streams) 13) Promises (with 73 streams) 15) Anti-Hero (with 71 streams)
There are 2 K3 songs in my top 10!!
Some things to note here is that while the order is kinda fucked up beyond missing K3, it might not be as bad as it seems, because 1) I don't know the exact cut-off time for the data collection for Wrapped. I think it was up to november 14th, because that gets the minutes listened to Taylor Swift closest to what the slideshow was telling me (3 minutes off), but it could also be November 12th or 13th (I barely listened to Spotify on the 13th, so I can't say anything about that, but the 12th brings my top song amount closest to what Spotify tells me).
And 2) when I pause a song and later continue, it gets listed as two plays in the data. This could be fixed in my stats program, but I haven't done that (yet) so that might put the number of streams I counted a bit higher than the number of actual streams, and especially since some numbers are very close together this might change the order. We can also see this when I sort the songs by number of minutes listened. This will obviously put all too well (10 minute version) on top, but with only 835 minutes listened, instead of the more than 1000 you would expect from 104 streams.
And that was me dragging Spotify for this year, however it actually sort of made sense this year so it wasn't too bad for them. The only question I still have is: WHERE IS K3???

How would you rank the Fearless vault tracks? No one really talks about them except Mr. Perfectly Fine
OH THANK YOU FOR THIS BC I AGREE THEY ARE CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED. We’re going 6-1 bc I love drama and also 1 is one of my fav Taylor songs ever so I want it to be the finale
6. We Were Happy: Midnight Rain’s prequel (no it’s NOT about Taylor Lautner literally fight me), definitely had to grow on me but it’s just really pretty. Keith ate the harmonies let’s be honest, especially in the last chorus. When it was good baby! It was good baby! I definitely understand why it didn’t make the cut for the og album but I’m definitely glad we have it now!
5. Mr Perfectly Fine: It’s a great song, but (and idk if this was just in Australia) the radio overplayed it so much that I am literally still recovering, like I will never choose to put it on, only on shuffle. Wonderfully petty and we love a key change but I must say Forever & Always does it better.
4. That’s When: I have genuinely NO idea why it gets so much hate? It’s super catchy, perfectly bittersweet, good use of both perspectives which Taylor excels at every time. I think their voices sound great together, the backing vocals are so pretty. The bridge is super simple but the vulnerability? 2nd chance romance? The way they say cuh-rying? I love it all
3. You All Over Me: Walked so rwylm could run, I ADORE the production (the opening is so peace it drives me crazy), Maren’s harmonies are so good, the whole thing feels very mature for Fearless honestly. Like she lived! She learned! Had you! Got burned! One of her most underrated songs period.
2. Don’t You: As someone who took 4 years to get over my ex while remaining friends with them the whole time YEAH THIS ONE HITS. Love the production even if it isn’t very “Fearless” bc I think it works really well with the more mature and reflective tone. At the same time the somewhat pleading nature of each line of the chorus makes her sound so young, and you can hear her frustration at both herself and the subject with “I swore I wouldn’t do this” because ultimately they still hold this power over her, so all she can do is beg them not to abuse. Another baby rwylm, and I love her for it.
1. BYE BYE BABY: BEST VAULT TRACK (YES THAT INCLUDES ATW) AND HONESTLY SOME DAYS BEST SONG ON FEARLESS (she swaps with F&A constantly). The VOCALS first of all oh my god, specifically the chorus directly after the bridge with the option up on “Bye bye babyyyYYYyy” while the music cuts out, honestly could be my fav moment in any Taylor song ever. The harmonies the whole time are just perfection, specifically the male vocals at the end of the second chorus. “Feels like I’m becoming a part of your past” OH MY GOD? SHE PUT IT INTO WORDS? There’s a resigned quality to the sadness, she knows nothing will change this outcome but still holds enough love to call them an endearment even in this betrayal. The high piano melody almost sounds like a music box doomed to keep repeating. One of her first movie references if I’m not mistaken with the opening lyric and we love the birth of a career long motif. ALSO THE DRUMS. I JUST LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH, BEGGING ON MY KNEES FOR IT AS A MELBOURNE SURPRISE SONG EVEN IF I’M THE ONLY ONE WHO’LL BE HAPPY WITH IT

Finally watching The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version), and it got me thinking: What’s everyone’s favourite song on each album? And how many of your favourites made the film’s setlist and/or acoustic collection?
I’ll start, because I admit it, I’m invested:
Taylor Swift: Tim McGraw
Fearless: White Horse
Speak Now: Back to December
Red: All Too Well (any version – yes, the 10 Minute Version is epic, but the 5 Minute Version feels like an entirely different song to me and it meant so much to me when I was growing up)
1989: Is It Over Now? if we’re counting the vault tracks, You Are In Love if we’re not
Reputation: Don’t Blame Me (I almost said Getaway Car, but the live performance of Don’t Blame Me pushes it over the line, it’s like a spiritual experience)
Lover: Death By A Thousand Cuts
folklore: this is me trying (but that said, this album is probably my favourite and picking just one song was physically painful. The closest runners-up were the 1 and my tears ricochet.)
evermore: ’tis the damn season (with the closest runner-up being cowboy like me)
Midnights: High Infidelity if we’re counting the 3 am tracks, You’re On Your Own, Kid if we’re not
Which gives me a final score of 5/10 (for albums where I had two favourites, I decided to count the point as long as one of my favourites was included). It’d have been 6/10 if the film had been made in a ’tis the damn season city, which is pretty good!

Midnights — Taylor Swift
2022 — 4th listen — ★★★☆☆
This is the 4th time I try to let this album grow on me. But this time I tried to rate the tracks for what they are and not let the boredom of the entire listening experience interfere too much.
I wouldn't say this is a bad album by any means, but it sure isn't great either. I don't know if I can say it's good either because as a project I think it's pretty weak. Some tracks are very good while some others are really uninteresting and made me want to click the skip button. Anti-Hero can be considered as a highlight on the album. While it sounds a bit aged, repetitive and got overplayed, I think it was a great choice to push it as the lead single of the album. It reminded me a lot of early Bleachers projects such as Strange Desire which I love.
Maroon was one of those instant favorite moments from day 1. The lyrics + the production just feel perfect to me and reminds me everything I loved about reputation. Unfortunately I only loved the first part of the project as it gets worse one the second part. Prod on Vigilante Shit just sound outdated as if it was a Billie Eilish reject, the lyrics were almost as bad as Karma's. It just can't seem to like them no matter how hard I try after a year and a half.
Labyrinth is a hint of hope while listening to the album as its synths as well as the mixing of Taylor's vocals with sound very good to me. But some of the production feels unfinished, it goes all over the place throughout the album. It lacks personality and cohesion to me. Tracks like Midnight Rain or Bejewelled sound like she wants to be the alt girl, experimenting with sound but ends up just feeling like failed reputation vault tracks. reputation had beautiful synths I'll always cherish but here it feels like a bad replica. It makes sense that die hard fans do enjoy it has it is very much Taylor Swift™ coded in its core. But that's the problem here for me. It feels like most of these tracks could be rejects from past eras put together to form an unfinished collection.
While I enjoy a few songs on the record, I don't feel like I need to give it another chance as a project. I'm looking forward to The Tortured Poets Department project she just announced but I'm a bit scared it won't be any different. I need Taylor to update her sound, ditch Jack Antonoff and finally give us a new sound for her 11th album.
track by track ratings
Lavender Haze — 8/10
Maroon — 10/10
Anti-Hero — 10/10
Snow On The Beach feat. Lana Del Rey — 9/10
You're On Your Own Kid — 9/10
Midnight Rain — 7/10
Question…? — 5/10
Vigilante Shit — 3/10
Bejewelled— 4/10
Labirynth — 8/10
Karma — 3/10
Sweet Nothing — 6/10
Mastermind — 7/10

13 songs you want on Taylor Swfit (taylor's version)?
Ohhh fun question!
For vault tracks, Debut is the safest bet because a lot of songs that she wrote during the Debut writing sessions or even before she signed up with Big Machine have been in circulation for a while! I'd add Crazier right after A Perfectly Good Heart like how Today Was A Fairytale was added onto Fearless TV, which leaves us with 12 vault tracks. I'd only really go with 7-8 vault songs personally, but here are the ones I'd pick to make it to 13 extra songs!
1. What Do You Say (we need to start with an upbeat yeehaw banger)
2. Welcome Distraction
3. This Is Really Happening
4. Nashville: it hasn't leaked, but some lyrics have been circulating online, and she allegedly performed it once in 2006. If the lyrics that have been circulating are anything to go by, then this song is probably a sequel to Tim McGraw. Quick note though there are 2 songs called Nashville, one that Taylor covered during the Speak Now Tour and another that she wrote it herself (aka this one).
5. Perfect Have I Loved: we need a song to close this chapter about the summer love that didn't last.
6. Dark Blue Tennessee: it's a pretty popular unreleased song, and it was also considered for Fearless early on in the process (though I think leaving it off Fearless and the Fearless Vault was a smart call, because it just doesn't really fit). But it does align well with the downtempo/sadder songs on Debut!
7. Just South of Knowing Why/Drive All Night: we need a more upbeat but still angsty song to close the sadder part of the vault.
8. I'd Lie: we need a happy upbeat song after all of that. I think there's a chance I'd Lie may not make it because the melody is pretty similar to Girl Next Door by Saving Jane, and the band vocalist has hinted that she'd like writing credits, so my hopes aren't too high, because Girl Next Door has a lot of co-writers. Also, this was considered for Fearless back in 2007, and honestly, it has more of a Fearless energy than the other Debut cuts that ended up on the Fearless vault, so if it wasn't released there then... my hopes aren't too high. But it's my list!
9. Never Mind. I don't have much to say, other than I like the fiddles on the demo!
10. Better Off. I like this one! It feels like the Debut version of Ours and a prequel to Picture To Burn.
11. Long Time Going. Closure to the romantic storylines of the vault with an emphasis on looking back to the first relationship.
12. Sweet Tea and God's Graces: "You can crash and burn, and now I'm someone new" is the thesis of Debut imo, also since Debut is a self-discovery/coming of age story, this is the perfect closer!
This was really fun, thank you anon <3

Greatest Songs Ever!
Here we go, the final days before “Greatest Songs Ever Part 20!” Sure, I know it’s not a big deal to everyone else, but If I’m not hyped, who will be? Nobody, that’s who! So I choose to be my own happiness here.
Before I dive into the new stuff let’s establish where exactly all of this came from. Here’s a not-so quick history of this now 20 year mini-obsession of mine.
It All Started In High School (I think)
Around the year 2000, while attending Murrah High School, my big dream was to be a Radio DJ, or at least what I thought a Radio DJ was. In retrospect, what I really wanted to be is what you would call, in today’s terms, a music-influencer. I wanted people to take my opinion on music seriously. Out of that, sprouted my tendency to make Mixed CDs for myself and others. I made hundreds, and even sold some. In my mind, I was building my brand and getting new and good music to people who wouldn’t find it any other way. In practice, it was probably pretty annoying. The “Greatest Songs Ever” Disc was to be my shining achievement. 80 minutes of perfect songs, in the perfect order, my masterpiece. I made a few copies, gave them out and even made custom labels to really make ‘em pop. This turned out to be the seed of my other subtle passion, graphic design.
Tumblr media
About 3 years later I made a follow up with the same idea behind it. So there it is, the first 36 Greatest Songs Ever. In my barely adult mind I had enshrined these songs in a “Library of Congress” type vault for the world to hear. By now the novelty of sharing Mixed CDs was wearing off (honestly I don’t know if it was ever actually “cool”). Kazaa, Limewire, and Torrents were becoming ubiquitous, everyone started stockpiling their own collections, and the “need” for a music-influencer was disappearing. Also, my short tenure at local radio station Rock 93.9 taught me that the dream of being a DJ was pretty easy and not at all what I thought it was. Around 2004 I stopped burning Mixed CDs all-together and these two CDs-full-of-bops got tucked away in an unmarked binder of discs.
Greatest Songs Ever 2.0 (The Myspace Years)
In 2006 social media was a growing medium and Myspace was king. I was very active on the platform (if you’re a weirdo that’s followed this blog, you’ll know I’ve made a habit of reposting and critiquing a lot of my old Myspace content) and found their blog feature to be one of my first real creative outlets. I’d write opinion pieces, anecdotes, reviews, you know, basically what I do here, but with less usability. As I continued to be a huge fan of music, I wanted to rave about it in a public forum. In stepped the refreshed Greatest Songs Ever format.
Tumblr media
Remembering the CDs I had made, I decided to take those same songs and expand them into a blog series. I spread the original 36 songs (once you’re enshrined you’re always enshrined) across 6 blogs that each had 10 songs. These ran from October of 2006 to July of 2007. Looking back, it felt much longer than 8 short months, but I was foolishly proud of these in a way that I wasn’t with my other blogs. I had married my love for music with my love for lists, being opinionated, writing, pretending to influence and making things a thing. I legitimately thought I put together a solid 60 song playlist.
Links to the first 6 Greatest Songs Ever Lists (Reposted here from Myspace):
- Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 - Part 6 (Sergio’s Tracks of Approval) -
I had always thought it would be cool to go back and make CDs out of the 60 songs and jokingly referred to it as the Greatest Boxed Set Ever. Obviously it never materialized, but more on that later. From there, the list stood dormant for quite a long time: 8 years to be exact. However, in a world where the concept of a personal blog had morphed from a outward voice of influence to a more inward therapeutic exercise, this Tumblr became home to my weird rants and opinions.
These Aren’t For You, These Are For Me (Let’s Get Gimmicky)
Myspace was dying, so in 2011 my blogging moved to Tumblr (here) for what now seems like its permanent home. With that change, it was only a matter of time before I spun up the Greatest Songs Ever ... uh ... brand name? lol. In July of 2015 after reposting the previous 6 Myspace posts, I spun the song machine back up. I continued the series exactly how I left it, 10 songs at a time. The original 60 songs remained enshrined, no matter how I currently felt about them (this became an important detail as I looked back at some of my previous choices and started to cringe). If I were to reverse course on any of the songs thus-far, then I would devalue the entire list. A definitive list that can change at anytime doesn’t sound very definitive to me. Again, if I’m not taking this seriously, who will?
Tumblr media
This time around, I decided to get more themed with my lists. New Stuff, Ladies, 80′s, 70′s, etc. Each Volume was a curated box, a personal exercise in music criticism. The gimmicks were fun, but even if the boxes were just 10 songs, the boxes seemed too constricting. What these gimmicks DID do was break a couple of molds that made the next evolution much easier. Example: Prior to Part 7, the only female-fronted artist on my list was Alanis, that’s it. Not only am I now aware enough to notice the discrepancy, I've personally have changed my listening habits. I am much more open to female artists than I ever was as a young adult. Also, seeding the list with older songs (as hard as that turned out to be) allowed me to redefine what could qualify for the list. This third era (Parts 7-12) really made the 4th era the most fun and fulfilling era thus far.
Links to the 3rd era of lists.
- Part 7 (The Return) - Part 8 (The Ladies) - Part 9 (Classics: The 80′s) - Part 10 (Classics: The 70′s) - Part 11 (Self Actualization) - Part 12 (The Ladies II) -
Full-On Audio Therapy Sessions (Maturity)
Finally able to acknowledge that I’ll never be an influencer of anything, and that there’s a vast audio landscape to explore when building the list, I’ve gotten to an exciting headspace with this project. Instead of this being an outward facing exercise where I’m blasting my opinion of my tiny corner of the music world, it has become a playground for me to explore things I would have never given a second listen. No era is off limits, no genre is a stranger. Instrumentals? Sure! Country music? Why not? It doesn’t matter that I can’t speak confidently about a track or understand the history or meaning of its significance. It’s now about HOW a song effects me and nothing more.
Tumblr media
If I’m in a grocery store, and a song I haven’t heard in ages comes on, and it sparks some subconscious feeling, I jot it down to explore that feeling later. That’s what it’s about, exploring the feels. Now, each list is built and listened-to over and over and over, in headphones, in the car, on my daily walk ... while drunk. The nuances of each track are combed through, not for quality control, but to feel its essence. I don’t want to get too hippy-ish, but to put it plainly, music’s only job is to elicit feelings. This list is now about THAT and THAT alone. It makes me reflect on myself, others, the past, the passage of time, and even the abstract concept of humanity itself.
Music is humans is their most brilliant and most vulnerable. If I’m in the middle of carefully manicuring a 10 song set (which can take weeks or months), and someone asks me what I’ve been up to, I find myself wanting to reply with how much fun I’m having building the list. While hyper weird, it tells me I’m doing something right. So, that brings us up to date. I told you this wouldn’t be short.
Links to the 4th era of lists.
- Part 13 (Diversification) - Part 14 (Leaning In) - Part 15 (Another One!) - Part 16 (Things Are Getting Weird) - Part 17 (The Formula) - Part 18 (Softballs) - Part 19 (Infinite) -
What’s Next? (Part 20 and beyond)
I have a really hyper-dumb theme planned for Part 20, but after that, I feel like the list will keep growing by continuing to follow where the music takes me (so much for not being hippy-ish). There is so much music out there and so many sounds I’ve never heard. Having 200 songs on this list is just a drop in the bucket.
As promised, I’ve finally built a playlist with all the Greatest Songs Ever on it (in the order they were added via the blog posts). For maximum usability, I built it on Youtube. As the list grows I’ll try to keep it up to date, but for now, it’s embedded below! As a bonus, I have a running Google Sheet of all the songs with selected metadata included. If you’re willing to get SUPER nerdy with this dumb list, it’s here.
Enjoy, The Greatest Songs Ever!

what sport/club do you think the aot characters would participate in? 😲
aot characters and the sports they play;
❥ every time i get a group aot character ask i immediately consult @miekasa , i love it here, ANYWAYS
Tumblr media
eren would play hella fucking sports, like he’s a PE kid, takes that shit serious asf. that being said football because he needs to let out his anger, and an angry sport for an angry kid, hockey, soccer (this man can KICK??? he doesn’t even know if he’s playing right he just punts the ball across the field and got on the team tbh)
levi does not play sports. maybe boxing, sparring? just to whoops some ass idk, or maybe even that one sport with the swords (fencing?)
armin i see as a more musically inclined person, he plays piano or something. BUT if i had to choose a sport i’d say swimming and i’m tempted to say boys volleyball.
jean ummm maybe swimming, i mean he got a long ass body, track but ONLY because the coach begged him to be on the teams since he’s fucking 6′3 so he did it. football probably also. maybe hockey also.
connie plays basketball! fight me on this!!! he dunks on you in the hallways and shits and jukes you for no fucking reason. i don’t see him playing sports really besides b-ball tho, maybe track but he’s not the best at all. i wouldn’t rlly consider skating a sport but connie skates
reiner ??? i looked at his name and my eyes went wide cause idk... WAIT FOOTBALL!!! HES A FOOTBALL PLAYER IN THE SCHOOL CASTES YEAH. big buff football player who carries his helmet around school and tries to impress the cheerleaders, namely historia.
porco why do i think this mf sucks at sports but not bc he sucks but bc he has no fucking teamwork skills. anyways hockey, and he hits people with the sticks. maybe baseball too. also maybe rugby cause that sport is rough.
colt and sports??? umm fucking tennis, baseball idk
zeke is a coach who acts like he can play the sports better than the kids but hasn’t actually played it. yk the ones w the potbellies. im not saying zeke has a potbelly, but
mikasa i see her going to the gym a lot compared to working out but like i can see her boxing with annie as well... maybe softball, who knows
sasha, hear me out; plays a surplus of sports, not NOW but like when she was younger she did a variety of sports??? okay lets get into this. she did archery when she was younger (remember how good she was with a bow and arrow?) but she doesn’t do it anymore, still got the skills. probably did karate as well and has fucking INSTINCT now. this isn’t rlly a sport but i see her being good at roller skating/ice skating, like when u go to the rink w her she’s the shit at it. maybe track but not for running, for field, like maybe pole vaulting, and maybe swimming. but keep in mind she rarely plays any more. her body is still fit though despite how much she eats. ok NEXT
hange and sports???? my girl be in the lab cooking up concoctions wym 😭, but on a real note i don’t see her doing sports either. i feel like when she was 3 she did gymnastics for 2 weeks.
historia is a cheerleader. literally in the school castes she’s one, but have you seen her????? that’s a cheerleader if i ever seen one
hitch is also a cheerleader but she branches out, i can see her doing dance (in general, no specific genre of dance), and possibly gymnastics as well but i’m not confident ab that one?
annie could do any sport and be the shit at it, i see her doing boxing like i sid earlier. imma add track even though i’ve said it like 482397 times because i can really see her being fast as fuck (i mean her titan was pretty speedy), and being one of those girls that people always ask in the locker rooms “you’re so short!!!! how are you running track?!??!??!” and she wants to punch them in their face but instead shrugs and keeps changing bc wtf kind of question. she talks to no one on the team but everyone bugs her.
pieck and sports doesn’t sit right with me tbh. she literally crawls bc she doesn’t wanna stand— and she lays down 99% of the time,,, WHAT SPORT IS SHE PLAYING?? TELL ME. this isn’t a sport but she does yoga once in a blue moon. i hc her as flexible for no good reason
yelena ?????? shooting is an olympic sport and she goes to shooting ranges for fun, other than that she puts that height to no good use.

💫𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 2021💫
Year Roundup with basically no tv shows and movies but top 6 dramas (I loved them all, I couldn't pick 5 😭), non-Taylor Swift songs and Taylor Swift songs.
So starting off with in no particular order with any of these:
𝐓𝐨𝐩 6 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐬:
1. 𝐃𝐨 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐡𝐦𝐬? (2020).
Tumblr media
I'm not usually a fan of slow-burn romance or melodrama. 2 things this drama is full of. I just fell in love with the story and the acting. I just loved this drama, like I was here for all the melodrama going on. Just had the best time watching this drama.
2. 𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐀𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 (2021).
Tumblr media
This was such a wild ride of a drama. I wasn't expecting to love this drama as much as I did. I loved that there was a love triangle with the secondary couple.
3. 𝐌𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐆𝐮𝐦𝐢𝐡𝐨 (2021).
Tumblr media
I loved this drama so much. Lee Hyeri is an amazing actress and her over the top reactions was hilarious. I loved Gye Sun Woo the second male lead, he grows as a character and honestly he did deserve the girl. Even the secondary couple were pretty cute, I loved practically everything about this drama.
4. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 (2020).
Tumblr media
This is the first and most likely the last historical drama I will watch. It was hilarious but also thoughtful and good fun to watch. I loved every second of it and loved watching it.
5. 𝐘𝐮𝐦𝐢’𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐬 (2021).
Tumblr media
My plan was to wait for season 2 and just binge but I couldn't wait. I loved this drama so much. It was hilarious and the cells were honestly the best part. Yumi's growth through the whole drama was amazing. I am waiting for season 2, it couldn't come quick enough. I NEED SEASON 2.
6. 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 (2021).
Tumblr media
I randomly came across this drama, decided to wait for it to finish airing before I binged it. I loved this drama so much. It was so much fun and a mix of genres that worked so well. Yeah, this and DYLB have the same male lead, he just is an incredible actor kay.
𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐍𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬:
1. 𝐋𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐀 ~ 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐤.
This was Lisa's first solo and it was stuck in my head for months. I loved the video and how she showed off her Thai heritage and she just had so much fun in all promotions and I really am proud of her with her solo debut, she deserves all the success it has gotten.
2. 𝐑 ~ 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐤.
Look, I know R is the name of her album, this is two songs but I can't pick one okay and I refuse to so it's being lumped as one here. I just loved both these songs and they had to be on this list.
3. 𝐁𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 ~ 𝐁𝐓𝐒.
This was my first time experiencing a single release as an ARMY, I was still just getting into BTS when BE came out, literally, I am still baby Army but experiencing the release as a fan was so much fun and I just loved the different versions, the Megan thee Stallion version was amazing and the countless records this song broke, very much deserved.
4. 𝐅𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 ~ 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐲𝐩𝐞𝐧.
So I am now an Engene. The song was all over my Instagram, I don't have tiktok and I refuse to get the app but the song piqued my interest and I looked into them, watched their survival show, variety show appearances. Any and all content that was available to me. They are my babies and I love them all.
5. 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 ~ 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐨.
This song took the world by storm and yeah nothing more to say to that. I can't even drive or been in a relationship but I loved this song. And her subsequent album, SOUR is a great album, very proud of her and I'm excited to see what Olivia does next.
𝐓𝐨𝐩 5 𝐓𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬:
Again, a great year to be a Swiftie, got the re-records of Fearless and Red. So I'm only mentioning the Vault tracks since those are new songs.
1. 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐨 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧. Of course, this song was going to be in my top 5.
2. 𝐌𝐫 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐞. It was casually cruel for this song to be in the vault.
3. 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞. This is a bop and I love it so much.
4. 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫. Depressing lyrics but such a happy tune, I love this song so much.
5. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭. This is just a fun time, again didn't deserve to be in the vault.
5 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝:
1. Becoming an Engene, these boys are all my babies and Im so proud of all they've achieved so far and I cant wait to see the rest of their journey and how they grow and evolve as idols and people.
3. I am now in my final year of university, I am dying but it's been a struggle to even get to the final year so it's practically surreal to even be in my third year right now.
4. I could meet up with friends, and got to see so many people after so long.
5. I started writing a Kdrama (True Beauty) fanfic and I've written around 30k words so far and I will hopefully finish in 2022.

Check in on my (not very realistic) wish list for episode 138
1. Nobody dies in the battle against Cree, even temporarily (looking at you, squishy wizards). Everybody survives and defeats her relatively easily.
Ayyye I mean Cree was one vs. 6 basically and of course it was easy enough, I expected this. Bye Cree, I won’t really miss you... WAIT she got controlled after death?? Well, the actual Cree fight was still easy so I’m counting this. The flesh monster version also took less than like, 20 seconds in-game time to beat lol.
2. Caleb or Beau’s eye power come into play whether for them or against them during the combat (telepathy also counts).
Heyyyy Caleb and Beau could pick up on the radio! That is helpful- oh he turned Cree into a flesh monster using the eyes... oh NO everyone has eyes now except Jester and Yasha. Group telepathy could be useful?? I guess??
3. Beau and Caleb discover the third function of their eyes if there is one (besides true sight and telepathy).
Nope I have no idea. I’m assuming that seeing through illusions and dark vision are separate at this point. That’s fine considering the huge twist that almost all of them have eyes now, like hello?? Caleb also wondered if he has a fourth power now, which we still don’t know about.
4. The party gets some much needed rest, even a short one, after defeating Cree (Bonus: heroes’ feast).
Hey the time shunt thing worked! PERFECTLY! With a 30 and a 24! I love two wizards, my absolute beloved. THANKS ESSEK (and Caleb, but Essek mostly).
5. This is a long shot but still hoping for any mention/sighting of Yussa.
Thanks Caleb for mentioning Yussa! Also Beau was able to try to connect to Yussa thanks to the eyes too! What a cool moment. Also thanks everybody for agreeing to help him lol. Caleb banished him! They saved him! Yayyyyy.
6. More nightmarish body horror and screaming from the cognouza citizens (look, listen, I loved last episode okay, Matt is awesome, horror is my jam).
Yes for the intestine corridor and flesh puddles, also for Cree transformation, also for the threshold crest vault mouth opening thing and for literally everything else in this episode need I explain? As a student of science I am very much enjoying the weird physiology connections with the Cognouza.
7. They meet another member of the Somnovem who offers more information.
Jester’s Calm emotion what a queen, they did meet a Somnovem. Wow I never thought I’d find eternal love so creepy but thanks Gaudius. Gaudius is apparently against Fastidan and Culpasi, nice. Good to know that the Somnovem Omega still does not get along lol.
8. Beau and Yasha’s PDA or power couple moments (bonus: they talk about mind control, the eyes, or feelings).
OH WOW Yasha has IDEAS about Beau wearing a red cape does she now lol, not subtle at all as expected. Get a room you guys! Not much talking can be done at this point, but nice.
9. Fjord and Jester’s conversation or domesticity (bonus: they talk about hope for the future).
“All we care about is love and unity” LMAO JESTER taking your chance to smooch as much as possible. I’m counting this moment you cannot convince me otherwise.
10. Artagan/Sprinkle comes into play/is mentioned and interaction with Jester.
Yep, they both talked (well, hissed in one case) with Jester. Artagan thought about them going to the feywild too! Fun.
11. Obligatory wish for Essek’s fancy dunamancy or magical items (Bonus: we get to see more high-damage AOE offensive spells).
Magic missile again! At least that will never miss. Sad that he can’t do AOE ever with the party around lol. ALSO THE TIME SHUNT BY THE TWO WIZARDS! The 30 from Essek (dunamancy master indeed!) and the dirty 24 from Caleb, NICE.
12. Obligatory wish for Caleb’s polymorph spell on himself or a party member.
Jester’s polymorph spell was cool too! Jestape? Japester?? I like Japester. Polymorph! Jester’s interactions are also my beloved. It’s not Caleb’s spell, so I’m not counting this one.
13. The party tracks down Lucien and tries to reach him by mentioning Molly.
Well, they attempted to track down Lucien, but really it’s the other way around.
14. Obligatory wish for Essek’s room in the tower (it will stay until it happens).
Nope, as expected.
15. Obligatory wish for Cad being a MVP in and out of combat also for him to use decompose more on the city, I’m curious to see what happens.
That path to the grave, what a MVP move Cad. TWO TIMES! TWO TIMES! For the HDYWTDT from Veth too! I knew it, Cad is a combat genius. Also nice blight on the fleshy ceiling. Also plane shift to the fire plane! Also that curse word speech what a king.
16. Veth one-on-one RP interaction with any other party member - we had some good tag teams recently, like Veth and Beau, Veth and Yasha, Veth and Essek... I want to see more!
We don’t really have time for RP because this episode was super action-packed but we did have a bunch of nice short moments!
17. Yasha or Fjord being absolutely freaked out/creeped out by the city.
Well to be fair EVERYBODY was super creeped out, so...
18.  The empire siblings don’t get another red eye (well, hopefully this will happen if they won’t get a full rest).
Well ironically, Beau and Caleb DID NOT get another red eye during the whole party members gaining red eyes scene- Nope, Caleb got one more. Honestly, pretty excited and anxious at the same time.
19. Somebody check in on Essek’s mental/physical state because for a newbie adventurer he is doing suspiciously well - I wonder if he is just desensitized at this point.
Poor Essek was very physically hurt and also shook shook by Cree being transformed... so not entirely desensitized. He even failed the wisdom saving throw OH NO HE IS GETTING EYES ISN’T HE CALLING IT RN READ IN BOOKS I know what book is kinda associated with a wisdom save. Update: I KNEW IT, and I don’t care that nobody will believe me that I called it. Still sad that nobody really got to role play much, but I’m enjoying the action.
20. Caleb uses more fire or his customized spells (last episode’s awesome Widogast’s web of fire got me missing all his unique spells).
Disintegrate followed by CAT’S IRE HYPE and the clutch immovable object used for the first time what’s sexier than wizards NOTHING.
21. Fjord being the leader of the group in any way or just does something very impressive (go Fjord Tough).
Nice hexblade curse and triple Eldritch Blasts Fjord! Warlock powers let’s go! Also, nice counterspell! That divine smite + crit star razor oof that’s such a beautiful 80 damage. VERY impressive indeed.
22. We get to see new spells/abilities/features gained by their level-up! That will probably not come into play until a long rest, but one can hope.
MIND BLANK AT 8TH LEVEL what a perfect spell for Caleb. They got a long rest thanks to the mini Beacon! I love it. Jester and Cad showed off some spells as well!
23. Lucien physically reacting to the party’s attempts to bring up Molly’s memories/moments and showing confusion/hesitation.
Well they didn’t get to try anything really, Lucien spent most of the time doing his cool, dramatic and drawn-out villain monologue thing, also his maniac laughter scared me way more than the scream from last episode.
24. Obligatory wish for everyone to remain relatively happy and alive by the end of the episode except Cree (I have a feeling that Lucien ain’t dying this episode), and the episode ends on a terrifying cliffhanger as always.
Rip Cree, and what do you know, cliffhanger! Gosh I love this show.
Bonus:
Nice dimension door Jester, she is SO on task and such a key player in these crucial moments!! What a queen, it’s thanks to her (and Caleb, but it’s her idea first!) that they got to the crest so quickly and got rid of it. I repeat, QUEEN.
Veth’s first shot AND the final shot were awesome in terms of damage, rogues am I right?
Wow what a confrontation. I thought Lucien was all for the Somnovem but apparently he is... just super chaotic?? And wants to rule them all?? What was that all about? Lucien just gets more and more complex and I’m conflicted because now they might need to fight him, the city, or both. This is getting super complicated and I can’t wait for the next episode.
Well guys, this session made me scream in joy and also feel what it’s like to be high on adrenaline. The episodes just keep getting better and better. I literally could not care less if this is the final arc - if it is, it’s a damn good one. I love the cast so much, I love critical role so much. I wish it could be Thursday every day of the week!

Ten Questions With A Twist Chapter 2
Hey guys! Here’s chapter two! I’ve decided I will be posting a chapter every other day. There are seven chapters on this story and they have all already been written, so you won’t have to wait for me to write them before they can be posted. Enjoy!
~Chapter 1 ~ This Chapter ~ Chapter 3 ~ Chapter 4 ~ Chapter 5 ~ Chapter 6 ~ Chapter 7 ~
Adrien was distracted. Having had a fitful night of sleep, he was mostly focused on staying awake during classes, not necessarily taking notes. Once lunch rolled around, Nino pulled Adrien to the side.
“Hey, dude, did something happen with you and Marinette?”
Adrien responded that he wasn’t sure what he meant.
“Well, you’re really distracted, and so is she, I just figured you guys got into a fight or something.”
“No, I barely talk to Marinette outside of class,” he clarified.
“So…” Nino narrowed his eyes at his friend, “So you guys aren’t secretly dating?”
Adrien’s jaw hit the floor. “What!?”
“What do you mean ‘what?’, it is so obvious you’re in love with her!”
Adrien stuttered and flung his hands, grasping at invisible somethings as he tried to figure out where the hell this came from. “It can’t be obvious, because it’s not true! What even makes you say that?”
“Well mostly the way you look at her.”
“I look at her the same way I look at anybody else!”
“Nah, dude. If you looked at my girlfriend the way you look at Marinette, we would have to have a serious conversation.”
Adrien was at a loss for words. “This is ridiculous.”
“I’m just saying!” Nino raised his hands, signifying innocence, “You guys would make a cute couple! You like her, she likes you, it isn’t a far stretch to think that something was going on. And I think you’d make each other really happy.” Adrien could only stare. “Just think about it, dude.”
Adrien thought about it for around thirty seconds. Then he saw Marinette and Alya wave himself and his friend over to eat and, though he tried to push the thought from his mind, he suddenly couldn’t stop thinking about it.
He had visions of himself and Marinette. They would sit on the same side of the table, rather than opposite sides as they sat now. He would use that excuse to lean into her, just to be more aware of her presence. He pictured going to the movies with her again and using that trick they use in movies, pretending to yawn so he could put his arm around her and hold her close. His heart did a spin at the thought, but he found himself being drawn back to reality.
“Yeah, Adrien and I will totally sit with you guys.” Nino said, and Adrien nodded, mostly to shake those thoughts out of his head. For the first time, he had to remind himself that he was in love with Ladybug. Not Marinette.
Soon enough, the group of four friends were sat around a table, chatting absentmindedly about something random. (The exact topic of discussion was unknown to Adrien. Tired as he was, he was more concerned with pushing food around his plate and not thinking about Marinette).
“Are you okay, Marinette?” Alya asked her friend. Reminding Adrien that he still had to interact with the bluenette. They were friends, after all. “You seem really out of it today.”
Adrien looked up to see that Nino had been right. Marinette was also looking really tired and distracted. She was blushing and had organized the food on her plate according to color, but was glancing up at Adrien every so often. “Yeah, I just…” She looked up and made eye contact with Adrien before outright asking, “What’s your favorite color?”
Adrien just stared at her, wide eyed and slack jawed. A million thoughts went through his head at once. He finally settled on Wow, that’s a coincidence. But that isn’t so weird, right? It is a pretty common question, even though it was kinda out of the blue. “My favorite color is green, but I’m also rather fond of orange.”
Marinette smiled and the world seemed to shine brighter for it.
The warning bell rang, signalling that they had about five minutes before lunch was to end. Both students started shovelling food into their mouths, suddenly aware of their own hunger.
A few more classes went by when they heard a scream coming from not so far away. Phones started going off left and right, alerting the entire class that an akuma had been sighted a few streets down. Ms. Bustier reacted as she normally does, calmly asking everybody to move away from the windows, calling for each student as she did so. When Marinette failed to respond to her name, the class found that she was missing.
“Didn’t she just go to the bathroom?” Rose said, stress underlying her voice.
“I’ll go find her!” Adrien quickly called, leaving the classroom before anybody had a chance to point out the fact that it wouldn’t be proper for him to search for her in the women's restroom.
Once out of the classroom, Adrien rushed towards the nearest broom closet, looking up and down the hallway to make sure there was nobody to see him. He called for his transformation and immediately vaulted out of the nearest window, ready to assist his Lady in taking down yet another bad guy.
Soon enough, the akuma was tracked down and purified. Having finished up this particular villain fairly quickly, Ladybug and Chat Noir stood back for a moment admiring their work. Ladybug decided to let Chat in on a secret.
“His favorite color is green,” She said, blushing profusely.
Chat was amazed! “That’s my favorite color too!”
Ladybug threw her yoyo and made one more comment before zipping away, “Sure, but are you rather fond of orange?” And off she went,
Too late to see Chat’s very very VERY shocked face.
And that gut feeling from the night before was back, now, and stronger than ever. But this time it was telling him to think. He went back to class and proceeded to think hard. And here’s the thing. Adrien liked to consider himself smart. And no person with two brain cells could deny that that was more than coincidental wording. That was word for word what he had told Marinette earlier that day. A moment of clarity shone through the clouds of his mind and left him with one piece of information: Ladybug goes to the same school as Adrien. It all makes sense! She must go to his school because she overheard Marinette ask him that question earlier that same day! They’re even usually at the scene of an akuma at the same time so even that makes sense! It wasn’t until fifteen minutes before class ended that the next series of realizations hit him: causing his flat hands to slam against the desk, getting everybody’s attention.
Ladybug is in love with Adrien Agreste
Adrien Agreste is secretly Chat Noir
Ladybug is in love with Chat Noir
Lucky for him, Adrien is both of those people
The entire class stared at him. His green eyes wider than they thought possible. His arms straight with his hands flat on the desk in front of him, sweat starting to gather on his collar. He only snapped out of it when Ms. Bustier waved her hand in front of his face and asked him if he was alright.
“I-uh- I just remembered I have a photoshoot after school. Nothing else. I’m good. Sorry.” He picked up his pencil and put the lead to his notebook, trying to prove that he was ready to learn now,
Ms. Bustier saw right through his act, but decided it was close enough to the end of the class anyway. “Alright, well that’s as good of a stopping place as we’ll get to today, so I’ll just remind everybody to finish their homework and that there will be a quiz on Friday.”
Adrien let out a sigh of relief. After a realization like that, he was most certainly not ready to learn. He rushed out of the room and to his locker, desperately trying to get away from prying eyes. He needed to have a conversation with his Kwamii regarding what the FUCK to do about this! His lady was in love with him! This was amazing news! But also… kind of terrible.
Ladybug was set on them not knowing each other's identity, but what did he do now? He hadn’t meant to come so close, but he had! Now he was so close to finding out who she was and he couldn’t turn back. He knew what Ladybug would say. She’d tell him to not dig further, to let it go, and to move on without looking back. Adrien didn’t think that was possible though. It was like when he and his lady both de-transformed on either side of a door. He was on one side, lonely Adrien, and on the other was the love of his life in her everyday clothes. He wanted more than anything to open that door. To view his Lady in all her citizen’s glory. But she trusted him.
So now what? They were in the same situation, but with the door slightly open. They were both about to cross that line. He looked down and could see her feet. She was wearing flats, not tennis shoes. Her pants weren’t blue like his, but he couldn’t quite make out the right color. Directly across from him, her hair was visible. Just as blue-black as it had always been. Her hair was tied back in hair ties rather than ribbons like her superhero alter ego. Her eyes were deep blue and staring right back at him and the rest of her face…
That’s as far as he got. As he stepped into the back of the car with Gorilla at the wheel, he let out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding. That feeling was back again and it told him that he couldn’t stop. He couldn’t drop it when he was so close, just inches away from knowing who she truly was.
And so, he had decided. And as easy as that, a plan started to form. A way that would bring him and his lady closer than they had ever been.
~~~~~~~~~~~
And there’s chapter two! I’m working on another fic after this one that’s a little similar, but that one is going to take a while, so feel free to leave requests in my inbox! I really look forward to writing for you!
An OBJECTIVE look at James Ironwood
A much needed TL;DR: Ironwood’s story is sad. But it doesn’t excuse his actions just cause we’ve known him longer.
So I’ve made it.... abundantly clear on many many posts that ever since the end of volume 7 and into volume 8, I’ve hated General James Ironwood. I’ve made SOME posts “throwing him a bone” but I usually end up still emphasizing his flaws. So... Here’s a post where I DON’T focus solely on his flaws. Here’s a look at Ironwood’s actions from his introduction in volume 2, to now. And I’ll try to be as, well, objective as possible.
So James’ first appearance is in episode 2 of Volume 2 where he talks to Ozpin and, briefly, Glynda. He clearly has some history with Glynda, maybe a romantic relationship that I personally support 😗... Well I mean not NOW but I did. So Ironwood seems to be a bit of a 3rd wheel to Oz and Glynda, Glynda dismissing him and his compliment and Oz not being PARTICULARLY happy with him and his army’s presence in Vale and after a bit of arguing, James says the infamous line, that’s even quoted in his theme track, “Do you honestly believe your children can win a war?” James bringing his army to Vale, and then later going behind Oz’s back to the Vale counsel to get permission to protect the kingdom, and also get Ozpin in the Counsel’s bad graces? He... meant well. But it was still a betrayal of Ozpin’s trust. Which is ironic considering trust is Ironwood’s whole... thing.
And it also tells us something interesting. He UNDERESTIMATES the capabilities and potential of humans. I know that may sound a bit like I’m reaching but think about it, Atlas mostly sends soldier bots to take care of Grimm attacks instead of humans. And even when he DOES send human soldiers, they rely on surprise attacks to get the job done, like the Ace Ops arresting RWBY and friends at the beginning of Volume 7. And when they DON’T have surprise attacks, Atlas’ huntsman lose. The Ace Ops lost to RWBY, they basically lost to Penny in a 1v4 fight, which Harriet admits in saying “Good work would’ve been capturing Penny.” So yeah they lost, Clover lost to Tyrian and Qrow, which I know is a different scenario but still if he were among the best of the best he would’ve either recognized the bigger threat in Tyrian, or would’ve been able to hold them both off, or, 3rd option, would’ve retreated and let Qrow and Tyrian have it out then come back to arrest them both, or the remaining one considering Qrow vs Tyrian, when we get it again, is GONNA end in a death. Fair Game bias aside, everyone blames Qrow but Clover also could’ve been smarter in his final moments.
In fact EVERY major Atlesian we’ve seen has lost a fight at least once. Winter lost to Qrow in Volume 3, if you count that AS a fight, and Cinder in Volume 7, Ace Ops lost to RWBY and Penny, Clover, as mentioned, lost to Tyrian and Qrow, Watts lost to Ironwood, and Weiss has, notoriously, lost a lot of fights but among the first was against Banesaw, the White fang lieutenant in Volume 2, and most recently, Rhodes lost to Cinder, if you count him. Whyyyy? I’m personally of the belief that it’s because of Atlas’ over reliance on its tech, and I know I’m not the only who thinks this 😗. Atlas has the best Tech on remnant and can easily create robosoldiers or mechs to protect the pilot while also allowing the pilot to still fight. What use is training humans to fight when they have mechs and robots to do it for them?
Phew. That was a little off topic. I’m sorry, anyway, so in volume 3, James brings Penny to Vale to participate in the Vytal festival which, speaking of trust, he didn’t tell anyone about. I understand not making it public knowledge. Soldier bots are one thing but a robot that looks like a little girl? I don’t think that woulda sat right with people. So, yeah not making it general knowledge, makes sense. But not trusting your 3 closest allies, and FRIENDS, in Oz, Glynda, and Qrow? Like Glynda said, it’s time to stop talking about trust and start showing it. That aside, things go decently well. No DIRECT signs of any conflict *looks at Cinder* and the festival goes well until the one on one finals. Yang attacking a “defenseless” student, in James’ mind, is horrible yes, but people’ll move past it, especially cause he disqualified her. But then shortly after that, Pyrrha, Ozpin’s chosen one for the Fall Maiden’s power, dismembers Penny on national TV. That is a huge blow for both the festival and him personally.
Continuing with Volume 3, while he’s calling for reinforcements, the robosoldiers that’re in his plane with him are hacked and cause him to crash land. Also a hit to him personally, HE ordered these be created and the fact that they were so easily turned against him and the people he swore to protect? Yeah... Kinda get it. Although, something else interesting in Volume 3, when he DOES rendezvous with Qrow and Glynda, Qrow immediately turns his sword into Scythe form for the first time in the show. And James’ immediate reaction? “Qrow! This wasn’t my doing!” and preparing his gun for a fight, before turning around and realizing that Qrow actually just saved him from a Griffon. This is........ interesting. Why would he assume a colleague he’s worked with for so long would suddenly be turning on him? I dunno. Just seems a little... paranoid wouldn’t ya say?
Volume 4, we see a new side of James. We see that he cares for Weiss, at least somewhat. More than Jacques, but granted a squirrel cares more about the Schneeblings than Jacques. But yeah, James has some pretty sweet moments with Weiss in volume 4, standing up for her at Jacques’ party, offering her a place at Atlas academy, he’s a pretty stand up guy to Weiss. But, big picture? This volume shows the signs of his paranoia being something serious. He completely shuts down Atlas. In his own words, “No one in. No one out. Not without the Counsel’s permission.” now, he knows about Salem. But he doesn’t know what she’s CAPABLE of, as implied by Qrow last volume. So, from James’ perspective, this DOES seem like the safest course of action. But this is exactly what Salem wants. Separation. Anxiety. Paranoia. FUEL for the Grimm. And this is the first sign of a common theme of James inadvertently playing into Salem’s hands.
Jumping to Volume 7, we don’t see him in 5 or 6 😗, James is still hella, HELLA paranoid, but he’s still happy to see Qrow and happy to have new allies. Now this is where we get a little dicey because volume 7 is a.......... divisive volume 😓. I’m gonna talk about JAMES’ perspective of events. Not necessarily my thoughts because... well... I’ve done that already lol. Many times 😓. So JAMES’ perspective on Volume 7. James sent the Ace Ops to investigate a stolen air ship and arrest the ones responsible for... ya know... stealing the air ship. So the Ace Ops do. And then they go back and take them to James’ office, and it’s the general’s old friend Qrow and his niece’s team and her friends, and a mysterious young man. We can see that James is happy to see Qrow, especially cause of the hug :3, and he’s especially happy to see Oscar, the new Ozpin. He trains Ruby and her friends with his Ace Ops, and allows Winter to help Weiss. And he DOES start to relax more. He starts to, dare I say it, let loose. He allows some lenience, he lets RWBY have the night off. Ruby going to Robyn’s celebration, Yang and Blake going on a double date with Flynt and Neon, and let’s the boys and Weiss have a movie night. He even gives RWBY and their friends their huntsman licenses. These are really great things to do :3
But where things start to crumble is after he announces that Amity is ready, which is a whole speech full of half truths, that he didn’t tell any of his allies about once again, to lure out Watts. It works, they fight, he wins, and we see THIS face.
Tumblr media
This is a man who is completely CONTENT. He is happy in this moment. He’s arrested a man who’s always, by his own admission, been a pain in the ass, he has Clover, Qrow, and Robyn on the way back with Tyrian Callows, everything is great right now. He KNOWS that Ruby and her friends lied to him because Oscar told him, but he can sort that out with an honest conversation right? In my opinion, THIS screenshot is Ironwood’s last GOOD moment in the series. That thought process of everything is great goes to shit when he sees the Black Queen piece that Cinder left expressly to fuck with his head. And THEN he gets irrational and, once again, plays into Salem’s hands. He directly ORDERS the divide of the people. He plans to abandon Mantle, leaving them to die in the process, and he plans to completely sever Atlas from all of Remnant basically by launching it into the atmosphere to keep the Vault safe. That only ACTUALLY accomplishes one thing, being keeping the vault, which IS important. But it isn’t more important than keeping the people, ALL of the people, calm and prepared to face this threat, like he did at Beacon. He should have remained calm, like an experienced military official should, and made an announcement to all of Atlas and Mantle saying kind of what he did in Volume 3. “Grimm are all over the kingdom. You can either stay and protect your kingdom, or save yourself. No one will fault you if you leave.”
Ironwood has a thing with fear. He doesn’t want to admit he’s afraid of Salem. As evidenced both times he’s shot someone....... interesting 😓. In the last episode of Volume 7, The Enemy of Trust, this exchange happens. Ironwood: You still think I'm afraid? Oscar: We all are. It's what we do in our fear that reveals--Ironwood: That's easy for you to say!
And then later, in the first episode of Volume 8 Divide, he shoots and kills Sleet once he says... Well... His last words “And what’s this about martial law? Have you lost your damn mind?! Are you that scared of what-- “ And notice, Ironwood shoots after Sleet goes to say “Are you that scared of what might happen?” And he IS right about one thing. It IS easy for Oscar to say “It’s what we do in our fear.” Because Oscar is child who can AFFORD to be afraid. James doesn’t have the luxury. He’s denying his fear because he’s the general. He’s James Ironwood. He can’t AFFORD to be afraid. If he’s afraid, everyone is going to be afraid. And, well, he can’t have that. That would attract the Grimm. He thinks he HAS to have a level head at all times for the sake of the kingdom. But James even generals in the military have feelings.... and sometimes need therapy to talk through some shit 😶. But... well... Maybe too late for that 😶😓.
In conclusion: James Ironwood is indeed a tragic character. A character who has taken A LOT of blows. A character who has always been paranoid. ALWAYS been ready for an attack. But even though he’s always been ready, he still wasn’t PREPARED. He wasn’t prepared for the sheer strength and AMOUNT of Salem’s forces. If he was more calm and more rational, he could have prepared better. He could have had Mantle and Atlas united against Salem, and that’s what can beat Salem, like Ruby said. James Ironwood is a tragic character, he has had it rough. But that doesn’t mean we should overlook his OBJECTIVELY horrible actions through out these last 2 volumes. Like ya know... Murder.
Phew .-. This is DEFINITELY my longest post. This better get attention I didn’t do all this for nothing >_>
