Christmas post FIVE
Some Vintage Art! The original ideas for Moon and Sapphirine were more Pirate and her Minion, but I like Suave Moon and Manic Vee much better! And a peek at their planned fusion, which may get a redesign in the future~

Almandine Garnet
Garnets are a crystal that are found worldwide with a red, pink, green, orange, yellow, brown or black colouring. They are often referred to as the stone of commitment and comes in 9 other types: Andradite, Grossularite, Hessonite, Malanite, Pyrope, Rhodolite, Spessartite, Uvarovite and Red
In addition to what garnets usually do, Almandine garnets bring strength and stamina, stimulates the eyes, opens the pathway between the base and crown chakras, opens the higher mind, brings deep love and treats the liver and pancreas.
Garnets should be worn on the earlobes, finer or over the heart and should be in contact with your skin. If doing a past life recall, place on 3rd eye

King’s Field Pendant
This magnificent pendant is the ultimate proof that the “Dark Ages” is an academic concept. Rather than Europe plummeting into darkness because of the “fall” of the Western Roman Empire, it’s more the lack of academic interest in the Early Middle Ages.
This Anglo-Saxon pendant was found on King’s Field (Kent) and is made of gold and garnet, but decorated extremely intricately with gabuchon, filigree and granulation. The garnet was used to form a triskele with round centre and ending in bird heads. At just 3,5 cm across, this was made by a master craftsman with materials from all over the known world.
The pendant might have been worn on a bit of string or rope, or it may have been worn as part of a glass beaded necklace. The pendant likely belonged to a woman.

5 Garnet Facts You Might Not Know!
Fact 1: The name garnet comes from the Latin word “granatus”, which means “seed” or “grain”, as this lovely gemstone is quite similar to pomegranate seeds in hue and shape! Because of this, it is associated with the story of Hades and Persephone.
Fact 2: In Italy garnet was called “pietra della vedovanza”, or “stone of widowhood” because it was often traditionally worn by widows as accessories (typically hair pins and brooches).
Fact 3: Garnet comes in a wide variety of colors, not just the classic red we associate it with! Other types of garnet come in green, pink, orange, and purple!
Fact 4: The historical use of garnet dated back to the Bronze Age, so it’s been adored by many cultures and civilizations for about five-thousand years!
Fact 5: Garnet is the traditional stone that’s meant to be gifted on the second wedding anniversary.

Garnet Care Guide
Composition: X₃Y₂(SiO₄)₃ where X is either Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺, Fe²⁺, or Mn²⁺ and Y is either Al³⁺, Fe³⁺, or Cr³⁺.
Hardness: 6-7.5 (scratched by a steel nail or drill bit)
Varieties
Almandine (Fe2+3Al2(SiO4)3)
Pyrope (Mg3Al2(SiO4)3)
Spessartine (Mn2+3Al2(SiO4)3)
Andradite (Ca3Fe3+2(SiO4)3)
Grossular (Ca3Al2(SiO4)3)
Uvarovite (Ca3Cr2(SiO4)3)
Hydrosensitivity: Unreactive.
Photosensitivity: Unclear. Some sources say to avoid long term exposure to sunlight, others say that it isn't reactive. I'd err on the side of caution.
Thermosensitivity: Reactive. Garnet is sensitive to heat and sudden changes in termperature.
Reactivity: Unreactive.
Fragility: Not fragile.
Toxicity: Not toxic.
Recommended care: Don't expose to sudden temperature changes and keep out of sunlight.
Conditions are described based on normal use. Sources and definitions below the cut.
Definitions
Composition: Chemical composition
Hardness: Mohs hardness, gauges how tough a crystal is
Varieties: List of varieties a crystal can be.
Hydrosensitivity: Ability to be damaged or altered by exposure to or lack of water. Crystals should never be submerged in water for long regardless of their hydrosensitivity, and salt water can damage crystals no matter what.
Photosensitivity: Ability to be damaged or altered by light, often light with UV rays (sunlight).
Thermosensitivity: Ability to be damaged or altered by heat, often high heat.
Reactivity: Any other notable reactivities.
Fragility: Ease that the crystal breaks or scratches.
Toxicity: Note of anything toxic inherent to the crystal's chemical composition. Not toxic does not mean you should eat it!
Recommended care: The recommended course of action for this crystal.
Other notes: Any other care notes.
