why anyone feels compelled to wish ill on any group is fucking beyond me and again again again it needs to be said that asking if “x will be the next y” is so direspectful to both artists and their work

the times kurutta SEEMS to get it but if you communicate with her about this as she supposedly wishes everybody should do? no.
no. you do not want to. you've made a mistake in telling the truth. you are wrong and kurutta is right. many have learned this the hard way.
kurutta can eviscerate and mock eventual ex-friends who dared vent, either to their faces or to others on how"negative and hateful" they were for not just shutting up and instantly moving on from traumatic events. that osomatsu-san blogger she used to like but hated and blamed for why karamatsu is bad for her now would probably even ~let a rapist live rent-free~ with how she just won't stfu about how traumatized she is from her shitty life and how she hates fandom, sayeth kurutta who says that was all cosmic karma because that blogger unfriended her bestie and that's abuse. and then those other ffxiv fans she was at odds with are horrible and fake victims too, rar! SHE is victim, they're just playing it!
it's all about kurutta! she wants all the space for HER vents and despair in the chat or your personal one on one messages. she will always want to overtake it all and send piles of words, but trying to match that energy by typing a lot back at her is wrong and bad. you dare abuse her by making her read a lot and exhaust her energy, or have to see your attitude back at her when she was shitty to you? never! you're supposed to be the bigger man, omg, but don't you dare ignore her either.
kurutta can make gross cracks about other ND people and what basket cases they are and inherently unlovable for their shortcomings, but needs everybody to give her not just understanding and compassion, but to let whatever behaviors she exhibits slide like it's nothing. it's easier for her to play oblivious and pretend she just doesn't know why she loses so many people, even after tweeting about how she knows she's got issues.

actually I also wanna talk about the part where Percy convinces Bob to kill Hyperion because even though Percy never says anything outright sinister, the way he handles the entire situation with such cool ease, playing on Bob’s emotions... its so insane???
Because Annabeth’s reaction to the three of them encountering Hyperion reforming is: “oh this is bad we need to get out of here” She knows if Bob remembers himself, that it's not going to play out well for Percy and her. She also thinks about how they're being pursued and don't have a lot of time. Her solution to the problem, seemingly, is to leave.
But Percy's solution is to work the situation to his advantage. He re-affirms Bob's loyalty to him:
Tumblr media
Percy then re-establishes Bob's moral code: "Some monsters are good. Some are bad. This Titan is bad. He tried to kill me and a lot of people. He's not good like you are."
And it ends with Percy leaving the choice of whatever to do with Hyperion to Bob but of course, is it really what Bob chose to do? Bob decides to kill Hyperion. It's not what he may have done, if Percy hadn't intervened. But it's exactly what Percy was oh-so-sweetly leading Bob to do.
And listen, I'm not claiming that it was exactly morally bankrupt of Percy to take advantage of a once-evil titan who could get him and his girlfriend through hell in one piece. Percy, Annabeth, they manipulate monsters and enemies all the time. Annabeth ended the previous book with manipulating Arachne into weaving her own web. So it's not exactly like she's against using manipulative tactics, in theory.
But Bob, at this point, is not just some monster. He is so painfully sincere in his belief in Percy and their friendship, so yes, it does feel a bit sinister whenever Percy uses Bob... and he really uses Bob.
And I think what makes the scene so unsettling, it isn't just that Percy manipulated Bob, its how well Percy manipulated him. He manipulates Bob so well that Percy doesn't even have to kill Hyperion... because Bob does it for him. He manipulates Bob so well, that Annabeth couldn't tell if Percy was purposefully trying to manipulate the situation. (Newsflash, he most definitely was). Like holy shit.

Responding To The "Aromantic Manifesto"
So I found this aromantic manifesto earlier today and I have many thoughts and opinions about it. Mainly that it's really bad, and it is homophobic. It uses a lot of big words and complicated language to sound smart, but it's not actually conveying good ideas. I'm going to respond to it piece by piece. By the way, I am aromantic, but I am also gay, so that's the perspective I'm looking at this through.
The main points of this manifesto, as outlined in the beginning, are:
"Romance is inherently queerphobic."
"The organisation of queerness around the celebration and pursuit of romantic desires and pleasures reinforces queer oppression."
"Queer liberation must abolish romance as its long-term goal."
Point 1 is bad because the activism for lesbian, gay, and bisexual rights has LITERALLY been all about being able to love whoever we want to. We didn't fight for centuries to legalize gay marriage to have someone say that us loving someone else is inherently queerphobic. Implying that gay love is somehow oppressing someone else makes you the queerphobic one.
Point 2 is wrong because we've been fighting for our rights for literal centuries, and we've already decided that trying to repress our sexualities for any reason, is actually bad and contributing to our own oppression. The only way to make real progress in solving queer oppression is by expressing ourselves loudly. It's okay to dislike amatonormativity. I dislike amatonormativity. But that doesn't give you an excuse to be homophobic.
Point 3 is even more incorrect. That's because a movement that is fighting for people historically marginalized based on who we love isn't going to have abolishing romantic love as a goal. It's okay to be aromantic and not want romance. The problem comes in when you try to force everyone else to repress their romantic desires because you simply don't like it. That's bad.
The next part is extremely insulting to me as a trans person. They compare gay men wanting to date other men and not wanting to date women to gay men wanting to date trans men. Newsflash, assholes: trans men are men!
If straight people can’t help who they love, then neither can gay people. Nor, one might suppose, racists and transphobes, and people who find disability and fatness unattractive.
This is an obvious homophobic argument. They're implying by this that gay men not wanting to date women is the same as gay men not wanting to date trans men, implying that men who don't love women are misogynistic. It's transphobic to compare the experience of being gay to transphobia. Tell me you've never spoken to a trans person in your life without telling me.
Queer oppression is not just the experience of prohibited desire. It is also the experience of hierarchical and violent desire. It is also the experience of undesirability.
What the fuck are they even saying right here? Queer oppression is literally about the experience of prohibited desire and the lack of experience of expected desire. I can maybe understand where undesirability comes into play, since especially as a trans person I get cis people trying to equate my sexual attractiveness with my worth as a human being, but experiencing hierarchical and violent desire?
This reads as someone saying that queer romance is inherently evil and we're oppressing ourselves and we're totally at fault for our own oppression. QUEER ROMANCE AND SEXUALITY ARE NOT INHERENTLY EVIL AND SAYING THAT THEY ARE IS HOMOPHOBIC, IT'S 2023. Why is this even a hot take?
The next section talks about the "privatisation of love," which is a model for why they think that queer activism has been missing the entire point. Let's see what this author has to say about that.
While the domestic sphere fashioned by heterosexual kinship relations has been historically designated as private life, queer intimacies have instead been regarded as a matter of public concern due to moral panics associating them with predation and perversion throughout history.
This is a very sloppy, incomplete reading of the way that homophobia works. I'm not going to get into my theory of how homophobia works in this post, but anyone who's actually experienced homophobia in their lives will tell you that this ain't it. For one example of how that's incomplete, in recent years queer people have been encouraged by society and especially the right to hide our queerness and abandon our culture in favor of mainstream society. This isn't trying to make us a matter of public concern, it's trying to make us disappear. This isn't how oppression works.
This next section focuses on how romantic love is allegedly used as a hierarchy.
People who regarded as romantically attractive are invariably upward-mobile, white-proximate, gender-appropriate, able-bodied, slender/muscular etc.
Maybe. Just maybe. That is just a reflection of how society views people who aren't white, aren't gender conforming, are disabled, and are fat. Racism, transphobia, ableism, and fatphobia weren't invented by romance. The way that romance in our society works simply reflects those things that already existed. "I just find them unattractive" has been an excuse to discriminate against people for ages. That isn't because romance is inherently THE hierarchy, but instead it's because it's used as an excuse.
Often, calling romantic partners “compatible” just means their placements on the romantic hierarchy are relatively equal in privilege. Calling romantically unattractive people “compatible” with each other, on the other hand, easily sounds condescending.
I don't have much to say about this. This is simply not how romance works. While compatibility is not a great concept and I have critiqued it before, this ain't it.
Queer romantic ideals remain incredibly heteronormative, only celebrating the most privileged and “compatible” of queers and condemning more marginalized queer people all the same.
This quote is really interesting because it's pointing out a very real issue with society (the fact that society encourages assimilated queers) and tries to blame queer activists for it. No, we do not want to assimilate. Society wants us to assimilate, and some of us try to do so. However talking to most queer activists will reveal that we don't want to assimilate. We want to be treated with basic respect.
Queer romance does not resist heteronormativity as much as it assimilates queer desire, making us hold on tightly to whichever relative privileges we have and hate ourselves for whichever we don’t.
Hello? This is projection. This is exactly what the person writing this manifesto has been doing the whole fucking time.
By peddling the illusion that romance can be made queer, heteronormative capitalism forces queer people to try solve their problems of undesirability and unhappiness privately by finding the “right” partner, rather than directing their anger towards public action.
Gay people in the past got into romantic relationships that often got us killed. Did we do that because of heteronormative capitalism trying to force us to find someone? No. What the actual fuck are these people even talking about.
We propose aromanticism as a counterpublic that responds to queerphobic violence by mobilising public resistance instead of escaping inwards. Aromanticism is a principled commitment to finding radically nonviolent ways of relating to others.
There's so much to unpack in this quote. Firstly, the author believes that aromanticism is a choice. It is not. I was born aromantic and even if I choose to get into a relationship that does not make me any less aro. This is also implying that (gay) romance is inherently violent, which is Homophobia 101.
If you already have a romantic partner, we are not asking you to “leave” them, but to aspire to love them in a different, queerer way.
There's no such thing as more or less queer. If you're queer, and you love someone, congratulations, that's queer love. It doesn't become more queer if you call it something other than romance.
I'm not going to go over the last part, but this last quote is some icing on the cake of homophobia we've just eaten.
Just be aware that similar hierarchies of desirability exist in sex as in romance.
It shouldn't be a hot take in the year 2023 that claiming that all sex is bad is a very culturally Christian thing to do, as well as being very traditionally homophobic. Sex negativity is weaponized against queer people far more often that it is against cishets.
To conclude, I'm just going to say that this manifesto takes real frustrations that even I have with amatonormativity, and turns them into denial that romance exists, and blatant homophobia. It's also very hard to understand, so if I misinterpreted something, please do let me know. While I do think that aphobia is bad, being homophobic isn't a solution and is just going to cause us to be hated even more, as well as alienating gay aros.

Wait, I need to know,
Has Jason ever admit liking Dick? They're considered brothers in most of the nightwing comics I've read but is it the case red hood comics?
Simple answer: yes. But it's complicated.
Red Hood and the Outlaws (2011) is the only comic where Jason explicitly talks about liking Dick.
Tumblr media
Red Hood and the Outlaws (2016) Annual #1
Jason has looked up to Dick for a long time.
Tumblr media
Red Hood and the Outlaws (2016) Annual #1
He also implies that Dick was a better brother than Dick thinks which isn't saying much at all.
I honestly don't believe even a single letter that's written in this comic about Jason, Artemis, Bizarro, Roy, Kori, or Dick. It's one of the worst comics I've ever read and I only got through this by sheer force of will to know everything about every character. I don't know how it's possible but absolutely no one comes out looking good in this comic.
Jason does like Dick but it's better to not use anything from this comic or reference anything from this comic.
Scott Lobdell can go suck it. Do you want to know how terrible of a writer he is and how horribly he misunderstands characters?
He said he doesn't see Superman as a beacon of hope and light. Where other characters see Superman as someone who people should strive to be, someone who does good and helps the world, Scott Lobdell says that Superman sees himself as an alien and will never think of himself as worthy because he's an alien.
Newsflash: an alien is another word used to call an immigrant.
He's literally saying that because Clark comes from another planet, he will never fit in and will always be aware of the differences between himself and other people on earth because he's an immigrant.
He actively supports racists. He had a twitter argument with Ron Marz who writes another comic called Voodoo and Ron says, "Seriously? I was under the impression I'm allowed to think racists are bad people." TO WHICH SCOTT LOBDELL REPLIES: Wow! What a stand: "Racists am bad" Why not use your writing to change hearts and minds instead of shooting fish in a barrel.
Are you for freaking real?!
Which makes perfect sense how he treats Kori and Clark given that he has sexually harassed another comic writer and made fun of their asian features. He's sexist and racist.
He's also classist because Jason's father actually loved Jason in the original comics. But in Scott Lobdell's version, a poor man is an evil, abusive man.
So not only is he sexist, racist, and classist, he also can't write! He literally has no idea the story and background and the decades of development that went behind each character he gleefully trashes.
Okay I totally deviated but point is, it's better not to use Red Hood and the Outlaws to learn about Jason. Or anyone.
The other Red Hood comics don't really talk about Jason's love for Dick but to be fair, it was written at a time when Jason hated everyone. The reason Red Hood and the Outlaws is supposed to be important is because it is supposed to tie into current events but the problem is it can't be trusted.

hai good friend,, tell me about mai. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of her before… look what we are doing to our beautiful queens 😔
YIPEE I love when me going insane about a character for a day makes you curious about them... especially cus atp I can kind of predict what is going to pique ur interest
ok ok: so, Mai. She's 1/3 of Azula's Evil Girl Group, colloquially known as Ozai's Angels, and thats the context you see her in for most of the show which is why it's important to know. You know how all cartoons in the 2000s HAD to have ONE morose goth chic? Well she is atla's quota. She's a noble, she's an only child (THEE only child. The first only child they made at the only child factory <33), she fights with 🔪KNIVES 🔪!!! she's Zuko's canonical comphet love interest and she has a very understated but underrated arc..
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her role/arc in the show:
I mentioned Ozai's Angels because her interactions with Azula and Ty Lee are the real meat and potatoes of her character. They're like... baby's first toxic yuri love triangle <3333 REALLY can't overstate how toxic yuri love triangle they are. Mai and Ty Lee end up betraying Azula in season 3 which is both the climax (imo) of Mai's arc and the inciting action for Azula's descent (but we're not getting into Azula never ask me to get into Azula please). A lot of people reduce Mai going turncoat to JUST being about saving Zuko - and like partially it IS. She saves Zuko from dying because she loves/cares about him and that's a big part of it.
But it's ALSO about her finding her voice ?? Like throughout the show we NEVER see her voice opinions about something unless it's to say that she's bored, or jaded, or what have you. She never seems to have strong feelings about anything; her stated reasoning for joining Azula's Imperialism Girl Band is because she's bored living with her parents 💀 but it's like. It becomes clear to the audience later in the show that she was raised to never speak unless spoken to, to mask emotions, etc etc LIEKKK SHE'S SOOO REPRESSED ONLY CHILD SHE'S SO WOMAN TM... So her telling Azula "I love Zuko more than I fear you" was THEE cuntiest moment EVER because it's like oh shit ?? this is something pretty unexpected from this character ?? Waow so crazy so cunt ??
A lot of people point out that she and Ty Lee never really got a "ohhhh Imperialism is bad" arc like Zuko did but. imo there wasn't a whole lot of room in the show for it lol. Would have been something interesting to explore in the comics for sure !! but uhmmm I'd rather walk into the ocean than watch Gene Luen Yang try and write about imperialism and colonialism again so maybe its better we never got that.. (no offense to him he's just... not that great at doing it in the atla comics...not his strength..)
Her reception in fandom:
She's usually only ever talked about in the context of being Zuko's love interest (either positively OR negatively) hence my post that you saw. Like. Victim Numero Uno of zutara/kataang shipping wars cus at least a bunch of people LIKE Aang whereas people either ignore or actively dislike her.
There's often discourse about like. Who's the "toxic" one in the Mai/Zuko pairing and it's annoying when she gets flak for it cus like newsflash: they both are. My GOD they both are. They've canonically broken up twice. They're the emo boy/goth girl pairing. They're cute together. They're miserable together. They're both homosexual. You get it.
Also a lot of times people just call her boring or emotionless and it's like congrats !! you have fallen for her facade... in conclusion... sorry this is so long uhm.. your fault for asking me though... how long is it going to take until I've just told you the entire plot of this cartoon piecemeal ask by ask...

you wrote such a beautiful rwby analysis but unfortunately I think you put more thought into the plot than the entire writers room
Hi!
Thank you, I am happy you found my analysis beautiful!
That said, I am sorry, but I disagree with your statement. It is fine if you dislike the series and even if you criticize it, but as for me, I think the writing is rather strong.
Here are some thoughts, which aren't really directed at you, but rather are born by me seeing a tendency going around where it is somehow "cool" to outloud state RWBY is badly written. I even saw people like... "apologizing" because they enjoy the series. Newsflash...RWBY is good.
RWBY is a series with a writing that goes from decent to very good depending on the moment. I would give it from 7 to 8.5 or even 9 in some scenes. More importantly, it is a story the writers are clearly enjoying writing, as for now. This is why I like watching it. It is genuine, upfront in what it wants to say and it takes risks. Ironically, a series with limited resources shows much more freedom in execution than many other stories, which are economically backed up.
I would also add people keep talking about good writing, but never really elaborate on it... And like, trust me, I do think there is good writing and bad writing. The problem is that people just take examples of "well written series" and decide a series written differently must be bad. This isn't really the case.
First of all, let's focus only on a specific type of story, which is the kind most modern movies, books and series are. This type of story is built on 3 (4) factors:
Plot
Characters
Themes
(Worldbuilding)
I would say the first 3 are more important usually, but there are some stories where the worldbuilding is so strong it becomes its own selling point.
Now, a good story is usually strong in all these departments. The perfect story is top notch in all 3 (4). That is because a good plot usually lets you develop the characters better, which in turns helps exploring the theme.
However, here comes the amazing truth... even the most incredible stories. Even the masterpieces loved by everybody... even them... end up choosing only 1 or 2 of these aspects and sacrifice a little bit of the 3rd (and 4th) one.
Naoki Urasawa's Monster? Its focus is themes. He chooses to go all out on this department, which is why the story is so powerful and resonates so much with people. Still, to do so, he chooses to sacrifice some parts of the plot to the point... some mysteries are not really solved. Some people may be annoyed by it, but I would not call it a flaw. It is a choice. Leaving some things open enriches the themes.
Death Note? If the story has to choose between characters, themes and plot, it goes for plot. This is why despite having so many well liked characters, it is difficult to think of outstanding character arcs in it. The same goes for the themes, which are only touched superficially. This is why btw Death Note is not a fave of mine, really.
Now obviously, many examples can be done and we could discuss forever on some because there is always always always a subjective component. What I am trying to say is... there are different ways to write a story. Not all people would like the same. Luckily, we have tons of stories.
Back to RWBY. I would say RWBY shines when it comes to themes. Characters and plot are good and interesting, but what keeps the story together, despite it playing so much with genre is that it has a very strong thematic core. You can't invent it or fake it btw. See, Death Note's author tries to do it in later works (Platinum End cough cough), but fails. At the same time, there is another department RWBY is top notch and that is symbolism. RWBY has a very rich symbolic system. Again... surely there are coincidences, but like this is a little bit too much...imho.
Now, does it mean, the writers came up with all the patterns I and others find? Probably not, but here is the thing... writing has an unconscious component. If you go earnestly at it, you are bound to unconsciously create patterns. A good writer is able to recognize them (either consciously or unconciously) and to capitalize on them. So far, I think CRWBY has capitalized on the patterns they created. I also think it is clear they are very good at researching and at playing with different sources by going deep into them. Again, you can't come up with the Ever After if you have not read and even studied Alice in Wonderland. It is just impossible. You would end up with a shallow and uninteresting copy cat. The Ever After isn't that because it is used to explore themes, characters and lore in an interesting way. Hence... ladies and gentlemen... it is a fruit of... good writing.
But really, since people are not commenting on it... I would like to point out that in 5 episodes of less than 20 minutes, they have managed to introduce a whole world, with its own lore, set of characters and main story (Alyx's) and to tie it to the protagonists' predicament in a way that hits really hard thematically and psychologically... To do that you need exceptionally thight writing... it is not that simple to do...
Anyway, have a nice day anon and consider watching something else. Thanks God the world is full of stories!

OH MY GOD okay so a beloved follower of mine sent me an ask about my tristan mclean headcanons like in december but i accidentally deleted !!!!!!! the fuckcing ask !!!!!!!!!!!!!! so i'm making it a post. hope you don't mind. also sorry for the wait
most of my thoughts are things i can not share on this blog (this is the Normal blog for Normal things and not the fucked up torture i subject this man to on a regular basis. tbf i hardly post about it on the Bad Posts blog either but like still. can share it on ao3 though check out sleep by imjustheretoreadonefic (don't do that it's not good)) but you can ask about that (if you want, which you probably won't because it is not most people's thing lmao) on my sideblog, yourfourthparent!! BUTBUTBUT i do have some thoughts and headcanons and such that are at the very least decently presentable!!!!
starting off first: i think he's bi! i think he figured out he was bi when he was pretty young (probably somewhere in his teenage years, probably like 15 max) and when he was in his 20s he was very involved in the queer community (his 20s being. in the 80s. sorry.) and was like a big activist. that is until the curse.
the curse being him hitting his big break. stars in some film that wasn't supposed to really blow up but it like Fucking Smashed and suddenly he was like all those guys who do one role and then are suddenly in Everything. cuz he sure is in literally everything. once he starts blowing up ofc he's got folks to help manage his image and at some point they're like haha [lip bite] you gotta stop with that gay shit or straight audiences won't find you marketable. you're already native and folks can hardly handle that let alone you being an active queer activist. you gotta cut that shit out so you can be the next batman or whatever. and tristan's like Well at least i'll make money to support myself and my dying father!
newsflash his father dies of cancer before he gets a chance. tristan's doing his best to avoid thinking about his father's death so he moves out of oklahoma blah blah yk how it goes.
he has piper when he's 33 ! everything's set and he's settled and then piper comes along and like. he's alright. he can handle this. he can be a good father (he's white knuckling the bathroom sink while he says this)
yeah he's terrified of being a shitty father. he does his best to keep her away from the press and keep her Okay for the most part but in order to do that he doesn't get to see her much etc etc. you know. you've read hoo. bleh
when piper starts dating jason he's like Oh cool ! i am about to break down ! cuz like. hey man. he is so not prepared for the reality of The Passage of Time. wdym his daughter is 16. fym tristan's almost fifty. that's so fucked up how is this allowed.
anyways he and jason are like Besties (*shoving my Bad posts to the side*) like they're such good friends they hang out so often even after jason and piper break up they're just Hiding it then. like they have weekly chess meetings and they talk about books and their lives and jason concerns tristan So Much oh my god tristan is so scared for this poor boy What are those tattoos young man Who are these "wolves" that raised you What is this "legion" Are you in a gang Little private school boy are you in a gang. What do you mean your first language is latin.
ngl my obsession with tristan came from my obsession with jason. i made a post like ages ago about how silly it'd be if tristan was jason's gay awakening and i just kept. thinking about them hanging out. and it spiralled and now i'm insane about him sorry. jason will always be my number one but Oohhhhh tristan consumes me.
anyways live tristan reaction when he finds out jason's mom is beryl grace in the middle of showing jason and piper a million old movies (beryl is in one and jason sees her and immediately freezes and tristan's just talking through the movie (hes silly sorry he talks through the whole thing. piper actually likes it because she has a hard time following movies so tristan explaining everything is good but jason is vaguely annoyed by it. he loves tristan to death don't get him wrong it's just that he can't concentrate on the kovie with tristan spitting fun facts a million words a second) when he looks over to see if theyre still watching and he just sees piper fretting over jason who's looking at the screen with a thousand gard stare.
let's go misc things that i want to mention somewhere but don't really fit uhhhh
i have this idea where tristan used to be a drag queen. i don't have any of the details down not a single one but i think about him talking to piper and her friends about the old days when he was a queen. mentions something offhandedly about how he wants to wear more feminine clothing and someone's like "oh are you like. yk. a gamer" and he's like "oh nonono i'm not trans trust me i explored my gender plenty, wore makeup, padded my bra, did drag for a few years, changed my name—" and they're like "you did DRAG ???" and he's like "OH yeah LOLZ i was terrible lol. my team keeps trying to bury it from public view for a reason. those looks were NOT serving !!!!" (he doesn't talk like that but i'm being silly rn)
(you just knoooooow jason was jaw on the floor immediately looking up TRISTAN MCLEAN DRAG TRISTAN MCLEAN DRAG QUEEN PERSONA NAME TRISTAN MCLEAN DRAG QUEEN TRISTAN MCLEAN— the SECONDDDD he got a chance. like staring so hard at old ass pictures of tristan doing drag and realising like Oh maybe i am bi. piper dumped him because she found his search history /j)
i think when his father died he cut his hair but then when it started growing long again it reminded him too much of the past that he Didn’t Want To Think About so he just. kept it short. and it's been short ever since. BUTBUTBUT when piper decides she wants to reconnect with her culture (which she's been mostly separate from because of tristan's own avoidance of it due to memories of his childhood and his father and blahblahblah) it sort of motivates him to do it too. like if piper's gonna do it after tristan entirely cut her from their culture then like. he can too. and it was a big part of his life when he was younger so like. he knows shit. i'm not good at this btw sorry i just have ideas UGSFHADGSF but anyways when piper starts reconnecting he decides to do it too and his first step with like Getting Comfortable again is growing his hair out. it's a smaller step yk he just doesn't cut his hair it's nothing active. (ofc when it starts getting properly long he has a few moments. he has to really confront his grief over his father's death and just the fear of that alone is enough to make him want to cut it again. piper stops him before he does but he has a few moments where he questions if it's worth it)
ik i just said earlier that he's not trans but like sometimes. with characters. i have headcanons that complety contradict each other. that is to say Transfem tristan mclean headcanon. she changes her name to t. just T. t wynn mclean. she goes by t cuz it's something she's already used to (jason called her that all the time before she came out).
these are all the ones i have off the top of my head agh pleaseplease feel free to ask more about any of these !!! (or critique them lmao half of them are. things i suck at explaining because they exist only for hyperspecific scenarios wherein nothing happens but tristan talking to jason or piper LMAO) you can also send in your own headcanons about him or jason or piper because EYE WANT TO READ MORE ABOUT THEM RAAAAGHHH seriously there's so little stuff that features him especially and if you have literally anything at all i would lovelovelove to read it all !!!!!!! sorry for deleting the ask btw i really didn't mean to LMAO sorry to my honourary mutual (i'd tag you but i'm afraid of misremembering who it was LMAO sorry mate 💔💔)

In your head, do you see 404 Harry and Tink ever actually admitting their feelings to eachother and being together for real? I know that’s what most people want lol but is that something you see happening?
I mean after the jealous blurb especially we all know they love eachother but they’re just not admitting it and either way I absolutely love everything you write for them but I’m so curious to know your vision!! Unless you’re keeping that to yourself for now…
I’m just wondering if it’s one of those things where they’re both too emotionally damaged to be real about their feelings and they just carry on as they are forever with this “I hate you” “I hate you more” type thing they have going on along with the incredibly hot sex of course??
But like does she keep going on “dates” and he keeps telling her not to but only because he can make her feel 10 times better… and that’s the only reason… obviously.
Does he suggest she live with him when her lease ends or she gets kicked out of her apartment for some reason but only because what good would she be if she was on the streets and she needs a home address to keep her job and no biggie but it would also just happen to be convenient for sex when she’s in the room next door…
Does he say randomly one day oh you know what we should do? We should get hitched. And when she looks at him like he has three heads because he’s said it in the most monotone nonchalant way he’s just like because it’s “only a piece of paper” and it makes sense for tax purposes and ya know.. other financial stuff that she couldn’t possibly understand like it’s not a big deal don’t make it weird it’s JUST FOR TAX PURPOSES!!!
And maybe when he decides he needs a child because his genes are too good to waste he’s like “do me a favour Tink” And he’s super degrading like “You know you want it, you’ve wanted me to knock you up since the first time I fucked you” because he has to convince himself that she wants it just as much (newsflash she does) and that she could have a year off and no one would miss her at work because he can do everything she can do (and better) and honestly it just makes sense
Or would they just admit they love eachother??!! HAHAHA I don’t know this was SO dumb hahaha but I absolutely love anything you put out because the way you write it is just *chefs kiss*
EEEE STOP!! I’ve talked about this a bit before but I deeeef think they’d just get together without officially being together!! 1000% would claim it’s for convenience or tax purposes and insurance or whatever but everyone else knows it’s cause they really are endgame!!
I kind of love the idea of them never saying the actual I love you words JUST OUT OF SPITE cause they don’t want to be the first to say it…..
But imagine one of them was in a bad accident….and the other one whispers it as they hold their hand in the hospital….and they don’t know if they’ll ever wake up….

OC in 15 - Leah Kingston
rules: share 15 or fewer lines of dialogue from an OC, ideally lines that capture the character/personality/vibe of the OC. Bonus points for just using dialogue without other details about the scene, but you're free to include those as well!
Thank you for the tag @serenpedac! It's inspiring to see what quotes you chose for Yael!
links to the fics in the little x - if there isn't one next to the quote, it's because it's from the same fic as the next x down
I can’t help a smile. “Mi book-casa es su book-casa.” “That’s terrible!” Felix exclaims, but he slaps his thigh and laughs nonetheless. “It’s also three a.m.,” I point out. “You want good puns, wait until I’ve had my morning tea.” (x)
“He’s good-looking. He seems nice, for what it’s worth. But that doesn’t mean he’d stay, and it doesn’t mean he’d be interested in anything… beyond casual. I have more worthwhile uses for my time than trying to guess a stranger’s motives for noticing me.” (x)
“You know, if you keep trying to outdo yourself, eventually you’ll set the kitchen on fire.”
“Look, you don’t have to come out, or say anything. I guess if you’re not listening it’s not like there’s anyone else here to listen to me talking to a door like a crazy person either.”
“If you’ve come to break up with me because of one stupid accident you can come back and do it in the morning. I’m not dealing with it now.” (x)
“They’re not monsters. If you knew even half the things they’ve done to protect us, you wouldn’t say that.”
“Oh no, whatever would the almighty Agency do without the mayor’s kindly beneficence?”
“I always did want to know what it would be like to be an immortal visiting a museum. There’s all this history and knowledge on display, but none of it existed when you were… younger. We’re still making scientific discoveries every day, but three hundred years ago the concept of science wasn’t even a thing – we didn’t even have dinosaurs until the 1820s.”
“I completely agree, sir. At some point I, too, would love to be able to find out about local news through some other medium than a loud phone call.”
“Don’t worry, I understand. I learned a long time ago how much the Agency values its secrets.”
“I don’t know? You were upset, I don’t know what to think, and in case you’ve missed the newsflash, I’m really bad at this. Being a normal person. Not fucking things up. Relationships are something other people get to have – I’m just the one who clears up the mess when they go wrong.” (x)
“You’re a three-hundred-year-old vampire who’s been all over the world, how the hell is that ‘not much’? I’ve lived a tenth of your lifespan and I’ve barely been an hour outside of Wayhaven – compared to you, I’m boring. It’s an objective fact. And even if that weren’t true, god forbid I want to learn things about the person I’m supposedly in a relationship with! If you don’t want to talk about yourself that’s fine, you can just tell me – I don’t need to be bullshitted.”
“Thank you for doing this. It means a lot. You didn’t have to.” (x)
“You’re sitting out in the rain like someone abandoned you at Christmas. I’m worried.” (x)
“A little disorder gives it personality, don’t you think?” (x)
Turns out it's hard to sum up characters just with lines of dialogue, especially when it's conversation that's important.
Passing this along to @naiatabris @pigeontheoneandonly @ellenembee @allisondraste and @persephotea

Peter Parker (written with TASM in mind but could be any)
"would you love me if I was a worm" x Christmas time
Tumblr media
"Pete?" You call for him as soon as you hear the door open.
"Yeah, it's me. Sorry I'm late, May needed me to get a few things." He apologizes, kicking out of his sneakers.
"S'okay bub. I picked out a movie, it's all queued up, I was just waiting for you to get here to make popcorn so it didn't get cold." You press a quick kiss to his cheek as he shrugs out of his coat, hanging it on the rack next to yours. It's such a simple action but the thought of having your own home with Peter one day where your coats permanently reside next to one another makes your heart swell.
"What movie?" He follows you into the kitchen, puttering around with his phone while you talk and make popcorn.
"Santa Clause. It's one of my all time favorite Christmas movies."
"Well I know that. I just thought we'd be watching something different since we watched it last week." His phone is left playing a tik tok on loop for a moment while he peppers your face with kisses.
"No we watched Fred Claus, it's not the same, Peter. This one is the one with Scott and Charlie. Santa falls off the roof and Scott puts on the suit? Scott's Santa because of the Santa Clause? Bernard the elf? We absolutely did not watch this last week. I will fight you on this one."
"I'll win."
"You think you're all big and bad cause you're Spiderman, well, newsflash, pretty boy. You wouldn't hurt me if your life depended on it." You deliver a peck to his nose before he defeatedly slumps at the counter again, scrolling to another tik tok. It's quiet besides the microwave and Peter's phone but soon enough that's paused.
"Princess?"
"Mh?"
"Would you love me if I was a wo-"
"No, Peter, I would not love you if you were a worm. Worms are gross and slimy and they wiggle too much. Besides, I'd never be able to kiss you, you could never hold me again. I'd just be lonely, you wouldn't be able to talk and I couldn't send you funny tik toks that make me think of you. Pete you being a worm is a lose lose situation. No I would not love you if you were a worm. I'm sorry." You shake your head.
"Have you thought about this?" He gasps in disbelief.
"Would you love me if I was a worm?"
"Abso-fucking-loutely I would. I'd put you in a little Tupperware with some holes in the lid, and not a cheap one either, one of May's good Tupperware. I'd put in some wet dirt for you, cause worms like moist dirt, right? And some- whatever it is worms eat. I could start a compost on the balcony. I'll become a worm expert for you bub, I'll learn everything there is to know about worms so I can take care of you and love you." He also seems to have thought his answer through.
"Peter, you could never kiss me, or cuddle me."
"That's what the Tupperware is for, kissing and cuddling, bub."
"I'm not going to turn into a worm, thankfully, but here, your popcorn is done." You shove the bag into his chest.
"Are you mad?"
"You would be totally fine with me turning into a worm Peter, what do you think?" You plop down on the sofa, starting up the movie.
"I'd be fine with myself turning into a worm too, we could be little wormies in love, bubba." He nudges you excitedly.
"Shut up, neither of us are turning into worms, we need arms so we can hold each other and lips so we can kiss each other. Now watch the movie with me." You curl up against his side and give him a kiss, thanking whatever power exists that neither of you are worms.

A very specific nitpick I have with 'Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate'
I don't do text posts here very often. This feels odd, let's just get on with it.
I was originally going to write down a full-on review expressing my utter disappointment and disgust dislike towards the horrible and cheap "sequel" to my favorite Dreamworks movie, Megamind. A sequel which, by now, we all know was nothing but a glorified extended pilot for a Peacock series that I have not watched, but it honestly looks just as mediocre, so I have no current plans to.
Hoooowever, I have since seen many reviews of this "movie", most of which have been able to express my feelings and thoughts pretty well. So it felt like I didn't have much else to contribute to the discourse.
Except for one thing that I have not seen anyone talk about (or maybe they have talked about it and I just haven't seen it), and it was one of the things that bothered me most about the film. So this post's entire purpose is to publicly point it out.
Tumblr media
No, I'm not talking about Keiko herself (although yes, she was my least favorite character and completely ruined the movie and this franchise for me thanks for asking). It's more the purpose of her character.
You see, and allow me to put my cranky old lady pants for just a moment, I believe most people have been able to guess that the entire reason this character was put into the movie was to be a target audience insert. So the 8 to 12 year-olds watching can go "Hey! This character is around my age and has the same interest as me! I'll keep watching for her!" (Do no ask me how well that's going because I personally do not find the excecution of it all that great, but I digress). And although, as a more mature viewer and long-time follower of the franchise, this does feel a bit annoying, having this kind of character when you're trying to appeal to a new audience is, technically speaking, not a bad thing in itself. And when executed well, this can totally work.
But here's the problem.
It makes no sense for a character like this to form part of Megamind's story.
You see, my friends, for those of you who have not seen this movie (which, for your own good, I sincerely hope is the majority of people who are reading this), "Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate" is VERY explicitly supposed to take place two days after the events of the first movie.
Just two days.
This is explicitly said at least two or three times in the first act of the movie alone (I value my sanity too much to rewatch the film to double-check that fact, but I'm fairly confident in that).
If you all remember, the masterpiece known as the original Megamind movie came out in 2010. Therefore, the most logical thing to assume is that the events of the film itself also take place in 2010, if not before that, right? It's never explicitly stated, but since there is nothing that confirms or denies this, I think it's the default assumption we as an audience should make.
Now, I did not own my first cellphone until the year 2012 when I turned 13 (don't make fun of me for that fact), so, correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think in 2010, we were seeing thing such as:
Smartphones like the one Keiko has throughout the film,
People using said smartphones to make livestreams in which people leave likes and comments in real time,
Kids who are content creators gaining half a million subscribers in TWO LITERAL DAYS (I cannot stress this enough) by getting information and newsflashes from goodness-knows-where,
App equivalents to TikTok and Instagram with as much popularity as we saw in this,
And overall, just social media getting the same treatment and functioning the same in 2010 as it does in 2024.
I mean yes, in 2010, things such as the ones I listed above were probably beginning to take popularity and to become a thing. But they surely weren't as well-established as they're being presented to us in Megamind "2".
This cheapquel "sequel" is suppossed to be only two days after the first one, and yet, everything that revolves around THIS KID'S existence suggests to us that we're in the 2020's era of internet, influencers, and social media. Heck, the earliest I could buy any of this believably happening is like, 2018. 2015 as a stretch.
We went from 2010 to (at least) 2015 in two stinkin' days.
No sense whatsoever.
Tumblr media
Logically speaking, there's no way TikTok Childstar Keiko was even born in the year the first Megamind took place. Like, her birth year is 2011 at the earliest, and you can't convince me otherwise. Why do you even exist two days after Megamind was renowned as the hero of Metrocity? Please go back to the womb.
(That got personal, sorry. This kid gets too much on my nerves)
"Well, TECHNICALLY since it's never stated when the first Megamind took place, nothing's stopping them from making it so that it's been 2024 all along"
If that seriously does not sound like gaslighting your audience in order to force "hip" references that resonate with the kids watching almost a decade and a half after the original film came out to you, then I don't know what does. I don't even care if "you're not suppossed to think too hard about it" (which is a lame excuse for lazy writing btw), just watching both movies back-to-back, the tonal differences and any chronological references just clash way too much for me to buy this as a legitimate follow-up taking place in the same universe, same city, and even same week.
So yes, "Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate" sucks, and the inclusion of this character and this anachronistic plotline, for me, is a huge reason why. It's insulting to the audience and a clearly desperate attempt to appeal to a new generation of kids that frankly, if Megamind had gotten a genuinely good sequel, they would've liked it all the same, even if it didn't include a 12-year-old TikTok influencer with a half-baked personality and forced role in the story. Because seriously, don't even get me STARTED on how forced her joining the gang felt, holy crap. 😓 But that's a tangent for another day. Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe I'll just leave this meme here and move on.
Tumblr media
This was, of course, only one of many flaws this movie had, but I feel like other people have ranted enough about how the writing, character portrayals, poor animation, bad humor, and lame attempts at world-building did the original Megamind dirty.
Here's hoping one day Dreamworks wakes up, thinks smart, and decides to give us the Megamind 2 we deserve, so we can all happily toss this... project, into the realm of non-canon media, where it belongs.

i am so fucking sick of trans women acting like trans men arent oppressed, and im sick of trans men acting like theyre more oppressed than trans women
not fucking sorry to break it to you, but the patriarchy sees us all as faggots. stop hating on people who have no power over you.
i wont name anyone but i just went through a fantastic blog run by a trans woman. seemed fine. she had some good takes. she had some different ideas on leftism from me, but leftists gotta stick together right?
no.
she thinks trans men are basically cis men in terms of power. of course that does not mean shes a bad person. there is always room for improvement, and being wrong about something does not mean someone is bad.
it is true that trans men can experience male privilege. ive experienced it myself. but as soon as people know im trans that privilege disappears.
the instant im outed im just another faggot. im pretending to be a man. im just trying to gain power. im tricking people. im a pervert.
trans women go through this too. trans women are seen as perverts, tricking people and pretending to be women.
trans women are judged for being feminine in the wrong way. they are seen as performing feminity wrong.
trans men are judged for being masculine in the wrong way. we're just weird dykes.
the reason trans men are viewed as confused lesbians is because patriarchy believes that women cant make their own decisions. women are too stupid to have autonomy, so they cant decide to be a man.
patriarchy changes how it views trans people to suit its function.
if a trans man is experiencing emotions seen as anger (even if hes just defending himself) he is a disgusting violent man and a predator. this happens to trans women too.
if a trans woman is butch, she is faking being trans to gain power (even if that power does not exist). if she is angry, she is just another violent man.
if a trans woman is in a stereotypically feminine view by society, she is a clueless woman and shouldn't have autonomy.
if a trans man is not angry and cis passing, he is a confused woman who shouldn't have autonomy.
see?
this is about women having autonomy.
transphobia is just misogyny rebranded.
trans men and trans women are not opposites. because men and women in general are not opposites.
trans women are oppressed for being transgender women.
trans men are oppressed for being transgender men.
patriarchy is not logical, because it has no scientific basis. if a man is a man in the wrong way he will be oppressed. trans men suffer misogyny too because we are seen as women.
misogyny targets anyone who performs gender wrong.
i argue that cis men can experience transmisogyny too.
cishet men get called fags if they are not the peak of masculinity. they get called sissys if they arent strong enough.
the reason for this is that anything feminine is seen as weak, and anything not perfectly masculine must be feminine.
@our-queer-experience and @genderkoolaid are some of the only blogs ive seen be normal about both trans men and trans women.
stop drinking the terf koolaid. terfs believe that men are inherently violent abusers, and apply that to men and women who are feminine wrong.
have you not seen all those terfs fighting each other because one of them has leg hair?
yeah. terfs think women are biologically incapable of having body hair. some terfs have even ganged up on jkr herself because they think her jawline is too masculine.
terfs are so misogynistic that they think women can only be real women if they fit into a perfect little made up box.
out of all great apes, humans have some of the least sexual dimorphism. you cant automatically tell if someone is trans.
terfism is self destructive. its killing feminism. its misogynistic. its transphobic. if you pay attention its also racist and antisemitic.
yeah, terfs go after women of colour and women with big noses and say they arent actually women because they have features that arent white.
newsflash, not all races have the same features. what might be considered masculine features in white people might not be that masculine for people of colour.
humans are a variable species. there is no singular "masculine" or "feminine" face.
im a trans man and ive met cis men with more stereotypically feminine features than me, and cis women with more stereotypically masculine features than me.
humans evolved to have facial variation so we could recognise individuals easier. not so we could fight over whether humans should have variations.
im not even on testosterone yet and i have chest hair. its normal. cant you see the beauty of the human form? we share so much DNA and we all look so different.
terfs think women cant be women if they are gendering wrong, just how patriarchy does.
patriarchy also thinks men cant be men if they gender wrong.
patriarchy and terfism both believe that people are lying about themselves if they dont conform.
patriarchy is forced conformity.
and its whats killing the queer kids.
hating men is not a cure for misogyny.

As a matter of fact: NO.
From Amanda Matta's substack.
And look, I completely understand that asking the masses of social media to adhere to objective reporting standards is a fight lost from the very beginning. But reader, it was as if people had legitimately lost their minds. Some of the most intelligent women creators that I follow, and whose content I have watched for years, even went off the deep end and started posting that the Kate Middleton being presented to us in pictures wasn’t actually her.
I just need to say now, though, it absolutely was her. My thing—always—with conspiracy theories is that the bigger the lie (and the more people required to keep it a secret), the more likely we are to learn the truth. If the Palace really had orchestrated a Fake Kate to stand in for her, there’s no way they were going to pull that off, especially while under so much scrutiny, without someone spilling the beans. They couldn’t even release a Mother’s Day photo of Kate that could successfully evade detection, okay?
It wasn't just the pictures. Which, yes, were real and were Kate. It was much more vicious than that, though -- the affair rumors, divorce, and much worse. To claim otherwise is to brush off grotesque misogynist attacks.
First, “supporters” of the Princess of Wales (and by this I mean a hodge-podge of royalists, fans, and sympathetic players in the British press) cried “Shame!” on those who had been asking questions about her whereabouts. In doing this, they lumped everyone into the same category, even though many (including myself) recognized the oddities in Kate’s sick leave and had questioned the Palace’s overly defensive strategy without resorting to conspiracy.
They told you very clearly what was happening in January. You chose to dismiss it and act in bad faith.
We can also recognize that the Princess of Wales is being afforded the benefit of boundaries that were denied her sister-in-law, the Duchess of Sussex, when she entered the Royal Family. The same British Press that once demanded Meghan give a photo op with her hours-old royal baby…is now curiously steadfast in the belief that royal women don’t owe us anything regarding their health that they don’t want to freely reveal.
The same British Press that told Meghan that her struggle for mental health treatment was all for show is now lauding Kate for prioritizing her physical recovery.
And don’t even get me started on the “privacy” angle.
For years, we’ve heard that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s request for privacy for their young family is absurd—they’re public figures, and therefore, every facet of their lives is “fair game.” And just where do they get off demanding privacy while still attending premieres and releasing exclusives to American media?
ER WRONG ANSWER. If you had a good editor, they would tell you to delete this. THIS IS NOT ABOUT MEGHAN.
One, no one forced Meghan to do a photo op. In fact, the reports at that time were that she was choosing not to. Then she and Harry proceeded to show their baby off on the Windsor red carpet, not the hospital steps. She has since then told different versions of the "truth."
Two, Meghan never shared her mental health issues until two years after the fact, when she was in the U.S. And the main person who did not take action was her own husband.
And are we saying then quiet part out loud?? "Kate has privacy, but Meghan didn't" Um yes, she did? Were her medical records hacked? Was she ever followed by photogs like Kate? No. She was not. She had negative press coverage because she was being called out for misusing her role as RF member, as a diplomatic representative for the UK.
Oh, and newsflash: Meghan's a famewhore. She doesn't want privacy, trust, she wants the attention. And no one cares about their kids; I do hope they have privacy and a happy life.
Multiple things can be true at the same time, and I know that if you’re a longtime follower of mine, you’ll already know this to be my perspective. The saga of “Katespiracy” has been a mentally exhausting time to be a royal commentator, though, because so many folks want to pretend that any critical conversation about Kensington Palace (the entity) at this time is a personal assault on the Princess of Wales. That’s not my M.O., nor is it most peoples’ when we embark on these discussions of how the Palace handled the past several weeks.
When put under pressure, Palace Communications officials got defensive, demanding, and downright salty. Most people who asked questions about Kate merely wanted to be reassured that she was okay. And for many, that was only a concern because of the Royal Family’s previous track record with handling women’s health issues. Both Diana, Princess of Wales, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, are on record discussing the abysmal ways that they were treated during health crises—not by the public, but by the Palace teams that were meant to support them.
Then what do you want? I don't get it. Do you want a woman with cancer to tell the world about her private health issues before she's ready? What were they to say? Could it be maybe they were right to say nothing, you just chose to promote drama for clicks and $$?
And let's see why they waited. Kate had surgery. She had a two-week recovery in the hospital. She went home and had further recovery. They found cancer in post-op tests. Kate and William then had to mentally process a terrible diagnosis. Then they had to find the proper course of treatment with medical professionals. They had to tell their kids and reassure them everything would be okay. Kate was still recovering. She started chemo. All while having to mentally handle it and protect her kids. That's a lot. And you can't be compassionate, you can't give the poor woman -- sorry KP okay sure /s -- a fucking break. But you aren't blaming Kate no! Just KP.
IF you want to do that, maybe at least come up with some alternative of how the could have handled a very sensitive issue. But you didn't. So maybe you aren't blaming Kate -- or you are but don't realize it --but you sure as hell aren't showing any basic understanding of the situation or empathy.
All this comes down to, really, is "BUT MEGHAN!!!"
So Matta, you're wrong.
