That one time a natborn officer made a mistake of joining the 501st on the front lines:
Nat born officer: General?
Anakin: Yeah? [Busy deflecting blaster bolts]
Nat born officer: Why is the commander standing on top of a clone’s shoulders in the middle of a battlefield?
Anakin: [Thinking for a short pause cause he’s a bit busy]
Anakin: OH! You mean Ahsoka?
Nat born officer: Yes, Commander Tano.
Anakin: She does that when- one sec! [Body slams droid]
Anakin: She does that when she senses a troop is in danger, so she can keep a closer eye on them and protect them.
Nat born officer: That much care for a mere clones life?
Anakin: Yeah. For a life. Especially someone who she’s shared blood, sweat, and tears with and sees as a brother. Now mind your business and get to the battle or go back to hiding like a coward and leave me alone unless it’s actually important!
[A day later in the battlefield the officer disappears under “mysterious circumstances” after having the audacity to call Jesse and Vaughn expendable]
- From day one, the clones realized that General Skywalker was definitely not like the Jedi they grew up hearing about. Very unorthodox and after being with them for about a week he began to try to get to know them
- He likes working alongside Hawk and the other clone pilots as they do maintenance on their ships and offers them tips he’s picked up over the years
- After a long but successful campaign, he snuck his men some liquor he’d bought and they all went crazy over it
- Rex and Anakin quickly grew comfortable with each other because they were around each other the most, Anakin made a point to tell Rex that he didn’t have to call him sir while off duty but it took Rex a little bit of time to break the habit
- Kix was the first to know about Anakin and Padme, Anakin was high on pain meds and started gushing to Six about how amazing his wife is and how he can’t wait to see her soon
- Rex was the next to find out when he walked in on a holoconversation
- Anakin has bets with about have his battalion on really random things, ei: he’s in a bet with Jesse on how many droids will Cody roundhouse kick, he has a bet with Hardcase how long they can hide an injury from Kix (Anakin is winning with 2 days), he has a bet with Rex on how many times Ahsoka will trip during a campaign
- The clones once took Anakin out drinking and learned that he’s a lightweight (this is when the rest of the battalion learned he was married to Padme)
- When they received their Phase 2 armor, Rex decided not to inform his general that he was going to weld his old armor and new armor together because he didn’t know if he would let him break protocol like that
- Anakin walked in on Rex welding his armor together, they made eye contact, stared at each other for a few minutes, then Anakin said “Here wait it’ll stick better if you do it like this-” and proceeded to help Rex go against protocol and mess his around with his armor
- If a clone asks Rex something and he says no, they will go ask Anakin the same question and most of the time he will say yes
- Rule no. 1 of the 501st, do not leave clone cadets alone with Anakin, he will either lose them or let them use his lightsaber
- Anakin will give any clone a piggyback if they ask him
- Anakin definitely participated in the prank war started by Ahsoka and Fives and was an absolute menace to his padawan and his troopers
- He teaches his troopers swear words in Huttesse but also explains other words in case one of his shinies wants to use one for a name
Can I ask for more Kitsune!Anakin? If you dont mind? :3€
Of course! Art or more thoughts? Because the next sketchpage of Kitsune!Anakin is being worked on (admittedly slowly) but if it's more thoughts you're after, oh anon, I have so many. My discord server is filled with thousands of words of dialogue and scene ideas for when I eventually get around to writing them all out properly. But for now, have this scene concept that keeps bouncing around in my head. Nothing says fluff quite like life or death survival situations.
--
The 501st are in for the long haul on some barren ice-scape, General Skywalkers fur has gotten denser and his ears smaller. That's how you know it's freeze your tits off cold. The men's armour can regulate temperature up to a certain degree (they seem to be able to space walk with no problem without changing) but during battle gear gets cracked, blasters penetrate through protective layers, air seals get broken, etc. Then there's a blizzard (see It Fuken Wimdy in my recent sketchpage). All of this steadily decreases the efficiency of temperature regulation and the troopers thermals begin to drop.
Cue Anakin acting as a giant fluffy radiator, with his own ability to maintain body temperature through use of the Force. Dig a hole in the ice, melt a decently sized cavern beneath the ice and curl up around his troops.
Anakin: Alright, armour off and cuddle up!
There is not time for shyness or modesty (as if any of the clones have that) and they are down to their body suits in minutes. Anakin's not big enough to get around all of them comfortably so they have to decide who get's cocooned and everyone else sleeps around him.
Kix gets chosen as the guy in the middle of the Kitsune furball instead of Rex, much to everyone's surprise. But the reason is entirely logical for once Anakin needs Kix's brain working to spot early onset of hypothermia in everyone else. You just don't want to lose your medic. He doesn't want to lose his Captain either, but Kix means survival for the whole company. Rex can get smothered by the tails as per usual, it's fine.
A survival foil blanket is draped over their snuggle pile like a tent to create their own microclimate. A lot of bodies tightly packed together generating body heat and insulated by fur staves off the majority of the cold until the blizzard passes or reinforcements arrive to take them off world. They are relatively safe and warm.
Kix: We're all gonna be breathing in each others CO2
Anakin: I'd rather wake up with a headache then not wake up at all
Kix: That's fair.
Does anyone have any fics of clones swapping armours for fun and confusing tf out of kenobi, anakin or asoka? Or obi wan and anakin wearing the armour?
Meanwhile on the resolute after a campaign where a lot of new shinnies in the 501st were in:
Rex: Commander, why is the general crying on the floor next to the medbay?
Ahsoka: He was in the medbay checking on the injured troops.
Rex: And? That usually isn’t one of the things that makes the general cry unless someone dies.
Ahsoka:
Ahsoka: He accidentally startled a injured shiny awake and Skyguy started frantically apologizing but the shiny hugged him and he was drugged up so he also accidentally called Anakin “dad” in Mando’a.

Summary: A very convoluted soulmate AU.
CHAPTER 1: i've promised that before, so what's one more?
Obi-Wan POV
Obi-Wan carefully keeps his own face controlled, and doesn't allow his hand to twitch at the pain he himself feels. He bites down on his tongue, almost hard enough to draw blood.
Not again, he thinks. Not this again.
CHAPTER 2: so where do we begin?
Anakin POV
Jedi have this big talk about attachments. He has been terrified of them since the moment he first, unintentionally, created one. Anakin has felt broken for so long that he doesn’t know how to feel whole.
CHAPTER 3: what the hell would i be, without you?
Cody POV
No Clone units have souls.
So why does he?
CHAPTER 4: i was doomed before i began
Rex POV
...there is something about the idea of being able to love someone so completely that your soul could match theirs in some unique way that is too vast and unfathomable to comprehend.
CHAPTER 5: sick of losing soulmates
Fives POV
“You can hate me,” Fives whispers. “For making things more complicated.”
“Nu draar,” Fox whispers back. “Never.”
CHAPTER 6: no use getting angry at the way that you're wired
Anakin POV
“Kaysh shu’shuk,” Rex mutters under his breath. Anakin has picked up just enough Mando’a now to know he has just been called a disaster. He’d object but it’s true.
endless love to my beta reader, @flowerparrish, for all of zir help with these
Yknow what I think would be a real interesting dynamic? The 501st and Vader anakin post order 66.
Because some like Rex wouldn't know about anakins involvement, wouldn't know that anakin went along with it, went along with the mind control and that robbing of agency of the clones to the point he marched on the temple with them under the influence of it.
But those who did? Who were with anakin when it happened?
What heads pace would they have been in towards anakin after order 66, how would they have felt about it, how would they have felt about anakin?
