Eternally Yours
Chris Motionless x Female Reader
Warnings: smut
Word count: 4.4k O_O
Summary: Basically a fanfic of the eternally yours music video, if the reader was the girl in the video
Author's Note: I know I have a bunch of asks, and I'm getting to them, I swear, but I finally finished this after like, 4 months... so... ta da?
Tumblr media
It was tough watching the love of your life, your best friend, getting it on with someone you hate. But you soothed yourself with the fact that it was all for the cameras.
Motionless in White were shooting the music video for their new song 'eternally yours', and being his best friend, Chris jumped to have you on the project. You were one of the best light technicians after all... Plus it was fun to work with you. Chris wouldn't admit it, but he missed you.
And while working with Chris was always fun, having a tall, skinny, blonde model (who thought she was God's gift to the world) making out with him... it didn't exactly help your self esteem. He was perfect. So was she. Why would he ever like you? He'd never go for someone like you when he could have Chloe.
Speak of the devil, you thought, as Chloe sauntered up to you.
“Y/N, I need my skinny mocha.” She demanded.
“I do lights?” You said, frustrated and waiting for her to understand.
“And I'm needed on camera. Hurry up.” The blonde walked away before you could argue.
You rolled your eyes and mentally cursed her. Then you heard a thump and a scream.
“No! My ankle!!” Chloe was on the floor, screaming over a mildly twisted ankle and performing the tantrum of her life. “I can't do this stupid job, I deserve better!”
And that was the fastest working karma you'd ever seen... It also came back to bite you on the ass.
“What?! Me? There's no way. I am NOT that pretty, or seductive, I can't do it!” You begged.
“Come on Y/N, please. There's no one else to do it, and you look perfect for the part! Please, we need this video shot by the end of the day, you know that. Plus, there's no one I'd be more comfortable with.” Chris begged you to step in.
“I don't know.”
Chris smiled at you with pleading eyes and you knew you were done.
“Fine. But I'm going to need hair and makeup.”
You looked in the mirror. The reflection you saw, you hated. It wasn't some succubus, it was gross. You hated seeing yourself in such a small outfit. You were too insecure, what were you thinking agreeing to this?! Plus, you'd have to actually kiss Chris. While you desperately wanted to, did you really want it to all be fake? What if it makes things awkward? You were in the midst of a mental spiral when you heard and knocking on the door and a familiar voice.
“Y/N, you decent?” Chris asked.
“Um, yeah. You can come in.”
Chris slowly opened the door, and his eyes widened when he saw you. You hugged your stomach nervously.
Chris made a kind of sputtering noise before mumbling “wow”, which you weren't supposed to hear. The word make your lips turn up.
“Uh, Y/N, you look spectacular.” He said, standing next to you in the mirror, and admiring you. You looked away, blushing.
“No, I don't. You have to say that. You're my friend.”
“Friend...” Chris said softly. “No, I don't have to say that. You truly look phenomenal. Dare I say, sexy.” Chris brushed some hair over your shoulder, turning to face you. Right then, the buzzer rang, summoning you to the set.
You cleared your throat.
You were about to walk out the door when you turned back to Chris.
“Can you promise me something?”
“Anything,” he said, without missing a beat.
“This won't change our friendship right? I just don't want things to be weird.”
A voice called from down the hall, asking you to hurry up.
You walked away.
It took a bit, but after some friendly cat-calls and whistles from the crew, you had the confidence to try to be seductive. You felt a little awkward, walking around the red and blue lighting and just looking around dramatically, but you trusted the director.
Next, you got in the coffin. With David, the director, shouting orders, you got into the part and began to have fun with it, playing model. Your confidence grew and your performance got better and better, until David decided enough was enough.
“Alright, Chris, get in there.”
Suddenly the anxiety returned.
You watched Chris in his suit walk around mysteriously in the lights and tried not to allow a shiver to go through you when he looked down at your lips and removed his glove.
“Y/N, you're the woman, you're not supposed to be so hard.”
The crew chuckled and you rolled your eyes, embarrassed that your anxiety was so obvious.
“Hey, you OK with this?” Chris whispered.
“Ye-yes. Yeah. Just. Out of my comfort zone.” You replied, before raising your voice. “Any directions, boss-man?”
“Just, act like you're a complete whore. You would die to touch him, you need him like oxygen. You're excited, get a little wiggle going on, yes?”
Mentally screaming at him, you nodded your head, and looked at Chris with daggers in your eyes. He couldn't hold in the laugh. Suddenly you were both laughing so hard you nearly fell back into the coffin, and Chris nearly fell in on top of you, making you laugh so hard your eyes watered.
“Oh come on, now your make up is all crinkled, everybody, take five! Y/N, go to hair and make up, and Chris... never mind.” David trailed off, you and Chris still giggling as he helped you out of the coffin. You fumbled a little in the stilettos, but Chris held you around your waist til you got your balance.
“Let's go.”
“David was right, you know,” Chris said, words you thought you'd never hear as you walked to hair and make up.
You raised your eyebrows.
“Not like that! I mean, you just seemed super tense, stiff.” You chuckled at the innuendo. “C'mon Y/N, I'm serious. Am I doing something wrong? I don't want to make you uncomfortable or anything, OK? So just tell me.”
“... I- complete honesty?”
“Always, you know that.”
“I'm scared... I'm scared that if we kiss you'll be disgusted by me or it'll change our friendship and I'll lose you. I don't want to kiss you for the first time in front of cameras and people—I mean, I don't want to kiss anyone for the first time in front of cameras—I mean, your opinion matters to me, and-”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa. Y/N. Breathe. Yeah?” Chris said, stopping walking to grab you by the shoulders and look you in the eye with a half smile that made you melt. “Would it help if, uh,” Chris looked to the side and nervously rubbed his hands. “If we kiss now, before cameras or anything. You can tell me what you like and what you don't so I don't fuck up,” he said before adding “It'd look better on camera if we're actually enjoying it, right?”.
You bit your lip and stepped closer. Chris brushed your hair behind your head and you couldn't help but turn into his hand a bit as he did, before looking up to his dark brown eyes. He stepped in til your bodies were nearly against each other, and lent down to softly brush your lips with his. You felt your breath catch in your throat as he snaked an arm around your waist, pulling you closer. You looped your arms around his neck and pressed your lips hard against him. The kiss was fire, and within moments you felt Chris's tongue against your lips, asking for entrance. You stood frozen in time, exploring each other as much as you dared before eventually breaking away for air.
You both stood there, entangled and breathing hard, looking away with small smiles.
“Um, so yeah, if you just do that it'll be fine.” You said, with a breathy voice and a little laugh. Chris joined in, and to your dismay, pulled away.
“Yeah, yeah definitely like that.” He said with a wink, before continuing the walk to hair and make up with his hands in his pockets. You stood still for a moment, hand to your lips, before walking fast to catch up.
You re-filmed the start of the shot after talking with Chris about what you were comfortable with (“well, we're in character, right? Just go for what feels right, and if I'm uncomfortable I'll stop you. Same goes for you.” to which Chris replied “You better let me know, I never want to hurt you.”). Chris walked up to you, and took his glove off. The look in his eye sent a shiver down your spine as you arched your back and lent across the coffin, convincing yourself you were leaning into the part and not Chris. But instead of kissing you, Chris brushed the hair from your face, and placed his head against yours, shutting his eyes. The tension was too much for you to bear as he lent down and rubbed his face against yours, kissing you without doing so, breath against your neck sparking electricity through your veins. You returned the motion, nuzzling into the man. But where Chris's hand had been around the back of your neck, he shifted his hands to be around your throat, lifting you up for better access to surprise you with a fierce, open-mouthed kiss.
It was like the man was trying to torture you. Or ruin you in the best way. You lent further into the kiss, deepening it.
“And cut! Perfect, we'll get all the kissing done at the same time to not waste the lipstick, yeah?” David said, ruining everything.
Chris helped you out of the coffin and you prayed you wouldn't slip and suffer the same fate and Chloe (not that you'd let a sprained ankle stop you now), and David guided you both to an empty area with a few blue lights around.
“OK. Now. I want you guys to make out. Just go for it. Chris, I want you to ravish her.” David directed.
At this point, you looked at Chris and just shrugged. He laughed and pulled you flush against him by the waist, both of you with cheeky grins.
“You ready to start filming?” Chris asked, an air of mischief in his voice.
Before David even said yes, Chris's lips were on yours again. It started a little sloppy and silly, but turned slower and more passionate fast, your hands cupping Chris' cheek, his arms around you only drawing you in closer, impossibly so. Chris broke the kiss and whispered in your ear.
“I'm going to do something, if you don't like it, just stop me, OK?” he spoke in a low whisper, and you didn't have to pretend to be turned on.
“I trust you.” You breathed back.
Then suddenly Chris was kissing your neck, then your chest. You arched your back to grant him better access, and stroked his neck as he sucked on the soft skin of your collarbone. It was all you could do to hold back a moan. When he pulled away and looked up at you, you could have died. Suddenly you felt too tense to kiss him again, scared you'd convey how much you need him, as Y/N, not the character in the music video. You turned your away, and then it was time to touch up your lipstick and a break before once more getting in the coffin.
You were drinking icy water and trying to calm yourself down from the growing heat and anxiety within you. You tried to compose yourself. You didn't want to be a creep, it's not exactly like he's consenting to you getting off from his acting. And that's all it was. Acting. Just... really convincing. You tried to reason with yourself and prepare yourself for the sex scene.
There was another knock on the dressing room door.
“Come in.”
Chris walked in, immaculate in his suit, but a concerned look in his dark eyes.
“What happened?”
“What do you mean?” You responded, feigning innocence.
“Did I do something wrong? I thought everything was OK. Did I cross a line? You know you can always stop me Y/N, I know you've been through shit and I don't want to ever hurt you, I'm really sor-”
“Chris, Chris, it's fine. You didn't cross a line or anything. I just. Um. Fuck,” you looked away, a blush spreading across your face. “I- Look, you did nothing wrong, OK? You did everything right. Maybe too right, if you get what I mean? I guess I just kinda froze up. But trust me, you didn't do anything wrong. You're... perfect.” You looked back up at Chris with imploring eyes, only to be met with a cocky smirk.
“Too right, huh? Man's got moves.” He laughed to himself, and you rolled your eyes with a smile.
“Don't get all proud of yourself,” you said and walked past. “Show time.”
Once you two opened the coffin and climbed in, it was up to you.
“I have one direction. Make me feel something. Action!” David boomed.
You started simple, Chris climbing on top of you, but you decided to take control. You lent back and put one heeled foot on Chris's chest, pushing him down slowly. He looked up at you with such an intense lust you could have moaned from that alone. You kissed for a moment before sitting up and helping Chris to take his jacket off. His eyes never left yours, piercing into your soul. The world didn't matter; nothing was real but this moment.
The pair of you moved in time, shifting seductively as Chris whispered to you, hand in your hair.
“Would it be too far if I,” he slid his hand across your face, and you understood his gesture. When his thumb slipped into your mouth, you sucked, fully getting into it. You were determined to make him as desperate as you were. He held both sides of your face and was about to kiss you, but you wrapped your arms around his wrists and tried to pull him down. But Chris was not one to obey. He pulled his hands away and brushed some hair out of your face, before pulling you up against him. Chris scooped you up, one hand cradling your neck delicately, the other gripping your ass for stability and control. You felt immediately how badly Chris wanted this when he grinded into you. The thin fabric of your costume and his suit was not enough to conceal his arousal. You gasped and grinded back as Chris lent in for a kiss that felt like fire. He guided you down into the coffin, as you felt his tongue slip past your lips. After just a moment of kissing, Chris sat up, both of you coming up for air, and double checking consent.
But you just grabbed his shirt and pulled him down. He kissed you lips, your neck, down your chest, even kissing your thigh, then lifting your leg up to caress as he kissed you deeply and passionately, grinding occasionally and trying to control himself. After a few more kisses, you broke apart.
“Perfection! Now we just need to close the lid.” David stated.
“I'm sorry, what?” you asked.
“We're going to close the lid. Well, Chris is. Make it extra dramatic, that's the ending of the video. Two lovers in their final bed.”
Normally you'd fight this, as the idea of being shut in a coffin—even for a moment in a music video—gave you anxiety, but in your current state, the idea made a shiver go through your spine.
The last scene was shot, you snuggled into Chris as he looked up into the camera and closed the door. For just a few moments, you remained just like that. Head on Chris's shoulder and hand on his chest, his arm around you and hand on your ass. You looked up at him and though you couldn't see it, he was looking down at you too.
Chris cleared his throat and tried to find something to say.
“Wow.” He stated, eloquently. You laughed quietly, knowing the camera was still filming.
Before you could lose your nerve, you reached your hand up to find his lips. You heard Chris breathing harder as your fingers found his lips. You just started to shuffle closer when you heard a voice.
“That's a wrap for tonight guys. Everyone fuck off home, it's going to be another big day tomorrow.” David said, walking off and dismissing the crew. The crew (most of whom your were friends with) thought it would be funny to leave you both in there rather than helping you out. Which meant you had to untangle yourselves and find a way out.
Someone tapped the coffin twice.
“See you tomorrow guys!” the voice was Ricky. Then, quieter, “Don't have too much fun.” You could feel the smirk through the coffin.
“Motherfucker!” Chris yelled, and only get a distant laughter in response.
You heard nothing but Chris' heartbeat and your head rested on his chest.
For a second, you just looked up at Chris, unsure what to do. You wanted to tell him, but you were scared. You wanted to kiss him, but what if he freaked out, what if it was only for the video, and he was just another actor? But could you live with yourself if you didn't take the chance? Before you could do anything, Chris tried to pull his arm out from under you to push up on the lid of the coffin, and in doing so ended up half on top of you. Chris breathed in sharply as you felt what was most definitely not his leg pressing on yours.
“Ah, sorry, I just, uh, you know,” Chris laughed nervously before looking into your eyes, “You were too good too.” He meant to joke, but his emotions leaked out through the words.
“Trust me, if I was a man, I'd be apologising for the same thing,” you laughed, trying to ease into talking again, and letting Chris know it was all OK. “I mean, when you pulled me in and like, thrust into me? Fuck, I know you said you have moves but damn, you really have moves!” You joked—or tried to make it seem that way.
“I mean, I'm happy to show you more, if you want.” he said with a wink, leaning into it in a joking manner.
“Bold of you to assume I don't want that.” you returned. The joke slipped out, challenging him, but you weren't expecting his facade to drop as he looked at you with total sincerity.
“Y/N, I—I need to ask you something. Was this, ah, was this just for the video? Cause I could swear I felt something real, and I'm hoping it's not just because I want there to be.”
“I- Thank God I wasn't imagining it.” You smiled and pulled him in. But this wasn't like when the cameras where on you. This was soft. Hesitant. Fragile and delicate but determined to push yourself. Because you couldn't let this slip away. Him slip away. While you were aiming for just a short kiss, a peck, wordlessly checking it was OK, Chris had other ideas.
Suddenly his hands were in your hair, his lips on yours, and instead of passion, there was a soft declaration of love. Just taking time to memorize the feel of your lips. But you were both still worked up, and then the heat came in moments, the kiss like fire. As your tongues danced, Chris slid a hand down your body, stopping to squeeze your ass as he grinded into your leg. You moaned into the kiss, rocking your hips against his.
“Chris,” you moaned, as he started to grind his cock against your clothed core.
“Dammit, how do you get this thing off?” He asked, tugging at your costume, and you laughed.
“Fuck, this stupid costume, we're gonna need to get out of here to get it off... Dressing room?” You suggested.
“I don't know,” Chris said darkly, breathing against your ear. “I was looking forward to fucking you right here in this coffin.”
The statement sent a shiver down your spine. Chris didn't miss this.
“I knew you thought this was hot too,” he said, voice low and leaving a hickey on the small of your neck. Chris slid his hand down to rub against your heat, and you bucked your hips into his hand immediately.
“Fuck, you're a lot darker than I gave you credit for, kitten.” Chris' low voice forced a whimper out of you. Then he stopped. “If I go too far, stop me, OK? I don't want to hurt you... well, unless you want me to.”
“Chris, if you stop now, I will fucking murder you.”
“Can't think of a better way to go.”
“Chris!”
With that, Chris tore the fabric connecting the top and bottom of the costume, sliding your panties off at the same time. Before you could even register the destroyed costume, his thumb was rubbing circles on your clit and you cried out.
“Yes! Just there!” You moaned, and Chris slowed his pace. You were about to protest when you heard the zipper of his of his pants. You reached down and pulled his cock out of his pants, and he groaned as you pumped him slowly.
“Shit, I'm not going to last if you keep touching my like that, Y/N,” Chris moaned airily as he thrust into your hand.
“I'm only teasing you back, baby,” you smirked, letting go and kissing him harshly.
“Uh, I don't have a condom, are you OK with that?” Asked Chris, ever the gentleman.
“I'm on the pill, just fuck me, please.” The last word slipped out before you could stop yourself. As hot as this was, you knew your friend would never let you live this down.
“'Please?' Don't tell me,” Chris said, melodramatic, “you're a sub!”
“Chris, don't make me do it, don't ruin the moment.”
“I'm not ruining anything, all I'm saying is-”
“No,”
“that you have to beg.”
“I am not-” You stopped as Chris rolled on top of you, grinded his cock against your wet core, and bit the spot just below your ear, causing you to let out a high pitched whimper.
“Are you sure about that, darling?” Chris asked in a low voice.
You whimpered more as he rubbed circles on your clit with his thumb.
“Please Chris, I'm begging you, please fuck me!”
With that Chris thrust his full length into you without any warning.
You cried out in a mix of pleasure and pain, the later only making the first more intense. Chris was far bigger than any other guy you'd had, both in length and width, and the stretch was perfection. You could've cum then and there when Chris hammered into you without waiting, groaning into your ear. The noises that man was making could drive you insane. Each thrust was deeper, and took you to a new level as you ran your nails down Chris's back, legs wrapping around him for more, more, more. You were in such a state that neither of you could even feel or hear the coffin jolting with each thrust. You wished you could see more of Chris, but the darkness of the coffin only heightened your other senses. Each thrust felt more powerful, as Chris hit your g spot without fail each time.
It wasn't long before you Chris stopped kissing your neck to groan into your ear, slowing his pace.
“Y/N, I'm gonna cum,” He warned, asking without words what you were comfortable with.
“Cum in me,” you said without missing a beat, and you could've sworn the man whimpered a little. “Please.”
With that, Chris returned to his brutal pace, kissing your lips like he needed you like air. He pinched your nipple, and as a gasp escaped, Chris used this to his advantage for further access. After a moment, you felt his thumb toy with your clit again, slow circles getting faster, and as you felt yourself clench around Chris, the tightness in your stomach released and you felt ecstasy as you bucked wildly, desperate to stay in this moment. Just as you started to come down from your high, Chris released into you, losing control. You couldn't help but climb higher as the man you'd die for moaned into your ear, holding your hips and just losing himself into you.
You two cooled down, breathing hard against each other, the scent of sex heavy in the coffin. Though you could hardly see it, you could feel Chris looking into your eyes. Then his hand brushed some hair from your face and he kissed you sweetly, still inside you. You wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him lovingly. When the kiss ended, Chris slipped out, and let out a sigh.
“You have no idea how long I've wanted you, Y/N. How much I need you.” Chris's voice was soft and gentle, a stark contrast what took place mere moments ago.
“I feel like I could say the same. Chris, I-” You stopped yourself before you could say how you feel. Because even after all this, the fear remained. But Chris wasn't going to let that get in the way.
“You what?”
“I've liked you for the longest time.” You chickened out.
“Well, I've loved you for years.”
Even in the dark, you looked over at him.
“What?”
“I wrote this song for you, actually. I'm eternally yours. If you'll give me the honour of being so.”
“I love you.” Was all you could say before your lips crashed to his once more in the beautiful blackness.

Levi, I'm Pregnant...
Tumblr media
Summary: Levi made it very clear that he wasn't too keen on having children but the universe has a way of throwing you off; modern! au
Side note: Anything with < text > is Levi's thoughts.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, you anxiously paced back and forth, gnawing at your bottom lip, trying to come up with different ways to tell Levi the one thing you knew he may dread: I'm pregnant. How could have this happened? Growing up you've always experienced irregular periods so this time you didn't think much of it...that was until the nausea started kicking in, the fatigue crashes, the way your nose would scrunch up at certain scents i.e lavender, pickles, honey, garlic; and the fact that you were always so god damn horny for Levi. You took the first test and it came back positive. Nah that can't be right. The first one is most likely a false positive. You took a second one a week later. Positive. Third times a charm right? POS.I.TIVE. While Levi was at work you scheduled an appointment with your primary doctor. "Congratulations! You're 11 weeks along!"
In the midst of your pacing, you failed to realize Levi step foot in the house until he plopped his briefcase down and stared at you causing you to gasp. "Hey baby." you squeaked.
"Hey you. What are you doing?"
"Huh?" you noticed Levi slightly frowning, you knew that he was catching on to you. "Baby I made dinner why don't you wash up?" Levi stared at you a beat longer and sighed. "Tch. Fine."
You both sat for dinner and you suddenly felt a bit queasy, it's mac and cheese for goodness sake! This was your comfort food! You cleared your throat and began to drink your orange juice - heeding your coworker's advice of eating oranges to deal with the nausea. Without a beat Levi's eyebrow shot up, he knew you wanted to tell him something but was waiting for you to approach the subject. You don't realize it but you gnaw your lips and avoid eye contact when there's something heavy on your mind. Levi continued eating the steak, mashed potatoes, and string beans you set out for him. "How was work today baby?"
"Oh uh it was fine. How about you?" <there shes goes again gnawing at her damn lips>
"Same shit, different toilet." You chuckled at his response but went back to gnawing your lips. You could feel Levi staring holes into you as you looked everywhere but him. "Tch." His impatience was rising with you but he didn't want to make you feel rushed. <What could be so fucking important that she can't spit it out?!> The rest of the night progressed as "normal" as you tried to make it. As you were both preparing for bed you got a whiff of honey, ran to the toilet, and began throwing up; Levi instantly behind you holding your hair. "Oi. What's wrong with you? Are you getting sick or something? You better not be I swear to God if you are-"
"No," your eyes started tearing up, hands shaking.
"Oi, what's wrong with you?"
You hastily stood up to blow your nose, rinse out your mouth, and turned to look at him. <Oh no...is she...leaving me??>
"I don't know how else to tell you this so I'm just going to shoot it to you straight...I'm pregnant." <What...> Levi standing there with no response trying to figure out the mechanisms of it drove your anxiety through the roof, upset even. "Fine then! Good talk." You were trying to rush past him but he was too quick. "Oi, it's rude to walk away when people are still having a conversation."
"Well it's rude not to say anything when your girlfriend gives you life shattering news you twat!" you spat out. Your crumbled into his arms sobbing. This damn pregnancy! Levi carried you and placed you on the bed gently, he kneeling in front of you. "Levi, I hic I'm s-sorry," you tried to explain through the tears. "I, hic, I I know hic you said you hic don't want kids but hic it just happened! Okay?!" Levi was drawing patterns into your hands. "Y/N I never said I didn't want kids."
"Yes you did! When hic I brought it hic to your attention you said no hic that they're little shits!"
"Y/N I only said that because I'm scared," he whispered. "I don't want my kid to go through what I went through." You gently tilted Levi's head with your finger to look up to you, into your eyes, gently grasping both sides of his face. "Baby they don't have to." you whispered.
A beat of silence passed with Levi closing his eyes leaning his face into your hands. You began running your hands through his hair.
"I-"
"F-" you both stopped and began to awkwardly laugh. "What were you going to say?" he asked.
"You go first."
"Shit heads go first."
"Ha ha you're so funny," you dryly responded. You took a deep breath and said, "I'm keeping the baby. With or without you." A moment of silence passed when he replied, "Oh the irony because I was going to say fuck it, yolo." Your face lit up. "Really? Baby really?! We're really doing this?!"
"Shut up will you." you jumped up, embracing him in a hug, plastering kisses all over his face. He laid both of you down and you nuzzled into him more, your foreheads touching. "Baby."
"What?"
"You're going to be a great father."

so, question as an inexperienced DM who's never run up against this before and is looking for advice:
I've been putting together a homebrew setting for a campaign, and from the very beginning one of my players has been extremely pushy with me about it (attempted to wedge in a homebrew race of theirs, repeated attempts to horn in published races that I said were no-gos bc they wanted to minmax, ignored my explanations of specific aspects of the setting and then got mad when I said "no, that's not how this works"). it's to the point where I've asked them to leave the table if they won't play by my (extremely lax) rules, and they immediately guilt-tripped me about it for several hours, pitched a big fit when I continued to enforce things, and attempted to slander me behind my back to the other players. we managed to work through most of the issues I've already mentioned, but I'm worried about it happening again, bc this player has never let anything go in their life.
the question is, what—if anything—can I do about this? if I actually try to kick this player out of my group, they'll ruin my friendship with most of the others, but their refusal to listen and respect me as the DM is making my job way more stressful than it should be.
Hi anon, this is a tough one not because I feel it's that ambiguous a situation, but because there's no answer that works out for everything. Also, as someone who has let precious few things go in my life I do have a certain impatience with people who don't realize that there is, in fact, a time to step off.
Obviously I only have your side of things but as described this player is being completely unreasonable and pushy. I also have mentioned the NADDPod Dungeon Court episodes before, and while they are very funny one thing I appreciate about them is that the group discusses that while the DM has a huge amount of control over the story, they also are putting in tons more work. I really do think there's a certain attitude that's not universal but definitely floats around D&D playing spaces that the DM is here to as I think I said recently, build a playground for the players' OCs. They're not. They're allowed to want things and to say no to things like a homebrewed race (seriously that is uh....fucking ridiculous).
I cannot promise that this will work out, but I do know that if I saw this as another player, I'd be furious at this player. In fact I've been on the opposite side, as a player at a virtual table where slightly less pushy behavior of this type is happening, and the DM has been something of a pushover, and I've been furious at this player. I really don't know what your other players are like, but I wouldn't necessarily assume that they would end their friendship with you. I seriously wonder if this is something of a broken stair scenario in which everyone secretly wishes this player would leave but assumes everyone else likes them and doesn't want to make waves.
I'd approach this in two parts:
The first is to call for anonymous feedback (with the free online survey tool of your choosing). Keep it neutral, but ask "Is there anything that's working for you/not working for you/feedback for me or the group" and see if the other players say anything to the effect of "Yeah actually <shitty player> is making it hard to enjoy myself." Again, it's just a hunch but I would jump at the chance to say "this player is driving me up the fucking wall."
If you get a few responses of "I'm frustrated w/<shitty player>" then I think it's easy; you can in fact just kick them out, which will be tense but won't damage the other friendships to the extent you fear. And, in the unlikely but possible event that the other players do wish that you were indulging this player's bullshit more? I think it's okay to come back and let the group know that you heard their feedback, and you don't think you are at a place where you can run the game they are looking for. I get that this is deeply frustrating and going to suck but I'm of the mind that bad D&D can be worse than no D&D and this goes tenfold when you're the DM. I think it would be ok to propose that maybe the group do a bunch of one-shots and rotate, or someone else take over, or you play GM-less games.
The second path forward is if the anon survey is inconclusive - the other players don't say "oh my god please kick out <shitty player>" nor do they say "oh my god <shitty player> is right". This is frustrating. Here's how I'd handle it.
I'd start having the conversations with this player in front of everyone. This is going to be awkward. It's also really hard to keep calm when someone is being this much of an asshole and I fail at it all the time, but it is absolutely crucial. Feel free to find a third party friend if you can to have practice convos or to do a pass at your language but essentially, if this player acts up, you can stop the game and say "I'm sorry, but this is how the setting works."
You can also, if you really want to go hard but be mature about it, ask for a conversation with everyone present after a session (or if you have to cut a session short even) and say something to the effect of "<shitty player's name>, I feel as though you don't want to play the same kind of game that I'm trying to present here. That's okay, but in that case, I don't think this game is for you. I'm also very concerned that you've tried to misrepresent our conversations to the other players here. How would you like to move forward?"
Basically: do it in front of the other players not to call this person out and humiliate them, but because this person has tried to slander you when you've talked to them separately. Again: can't promise the other players will side with them but I really do think it's possible they're also frustrated by this person and just don't know how to express it.
Anyway, my point is, again, this is going to kind of suck, but I do think there are ways to do all you can preserve the friendships with the people you do like, even if it means having to end the game. The good news about DM-ing is that you can usually find a group who wants a DM, so you won't be without a game for too long if you have to stop this one. Good luck, and if you do enact any of these I would love to know how it goes (even if it goes super badly and you want to scream at me).

Me: *receives this request*
Me: *sips my 3rd coffee of the day from my raccoon mug in the pitch dark of my room*
Me: My time has come...
Pillarmen (separate) with a coffee addicted, sarcastic, career focused s/o (who doesn’t get enough sleep)...
(under the cut for length!)
Tumblr media
Kars:
"Have you eaten today?" The Pillarmen questioned you, looming over your desk in the dark of your Office.
"Yes." You answered simply, not bothering to tear your eyes from the laptop screen or the sea of words it held sitting before you. Kars however knew better than to leave it at just that, folding his arms across his chest as he cocked an eyebrow.
Kars frowned to himself as his eyes took in your workspace, trying not to focus on the fact that was littered with disorganized papers, food wrappers and a few empty mugs.
He would never let his desk degenerate into something even close to this mess.
"Alright. What did you eat?"
Kars clicked his tongue, letting out the sigh he knew he was going to make upon making the decision to check in on you in the first place. He had known very well this conversation would be steered into a direction like this.
A silence fell over the room, your the clicking of keyboard keys stalling for the briefest second before resuming.
"Coffee." Came the answer.
"Coffee is NOT a meal." He said curtly.
"I know it's not a meal, it's a vegetable." You replied without missing a single beat.
He pursed his lips, "Now what makes you say that?"
"It came from beans."
"Something to eat first, then you may finish your work. And then it's straight to bed with you." He ordered, carrying you downstairs to the kitchen. It was late and he knew that if he didn't set these boundaries you would be hunched over, typing away at your messy little desk all hours of the night.
Without another word you were picked up out of your office chair like nothing more than a common house cat and thrown over his shoulder, the massive man rolled his eyes as you whined that you had only a couple more pages to do and you were trying to finish.
He ignored your protests as much as he disregarded the sluggish pounds of your fists on his backside.
Needless to say, he didn't want a repeat of last time that happened. Coffee and redbull brew was a potent mixture he wanted to keep out of your reach from now on, no matter how tired you claimed to be.
"Ok, Mom." You bit back, finally giving up on your futile squirming for the night. You shot him your best glare as he set you down on the kitchen counter, the rings under your bleary eyes only becoming more prominent as he once again ignored your words and your stare, getting right into fixing you something quick to eat.
Kars wasn't a person to be spoken to in that way by anyone (they never usually lived long enough to get such remarks out) but you were much different of course. In fact, your sharp tongue was easily matched by his quick wit; it only made you an even stronger pair to be reckoned with in his opinion.
With only a quirk of his lips as a response to your sarcastic quip, a cookie was shoved into your mouth.
"Here. Perhaps this will sweeten up your sour, my child." He said, now fully getting on your level as he busied himself making you a sandwich.
A smile curled at the corners of your full mouth as you chewed away, your demeanor just a little lighter as sweet chocolate goodness tickled your senses. However, chocolate did little to coat the silver of your tongue.
"Bite me." You spat playfully, a few crumbs escaping your lips along with the words.
"You know better than to threaten me with a good time, dearest." Kars responded, not even lifting his eyes from the cutting board as he sliced away at a cucumber.
You nearly choked on the sweet you were savoring as you doubled over in laughter, making Kars smile to himself in triumph.
Esidisi:
"What are you doing?" Esidisi watched you with curious interest as you began to depart from the kitchen, just seconds after making your entrance, the entire pot of black coffee he had just prepared in your hand.
The steaming pot of rich and buzzing Caffeine was snatched from your grasp in a fraction of a second, you blinked to find squirming tendrils of veins spiriting it away back to your Husband.
"I'm flipping oyster burgers for the King of Spain, what does it look like?" You asked without even a thought, an impressive feat as it seemed like you were mere seconds away from falling over.
Disheveled wasn't even a word to describe your appearance. Your hair in disarray and wearing the same clothes as you had yesterday; you looked like you had been put through the ringer not once but a few times.
"Hey!" You cried, fully turning on him. It only made the smirk at the corner of his mouth grow as you advanced on him, stomping angrily as you went; inevitably you were only making yourself more adorable in his eyes. "Give that back! I need to get some work done!"
Taking the entire pot with you was the most elegant solution in your eyes rather than coming back downstairs every so often to refill your mug. You definitely needed the quantity of this pot if you wanted to stay awake any longer to complete your workload.
"Ah ah ah, not so fast little oyster flipper!" He laughed, holding the pot far out of your reach and pushing you at arms length as you attempted to make a grab for it.
Esidisi was always amused by your fiery determination when it came down to your work and the lengths you went through to get it done but he knew when enough was enough.
"What I want to know is, did you get any sleep last night?" He questioned, a bare brow raising; a look betraying his genuine concern for you in the midst of his jest.
The Pillarman was not going to let you take the pot of coffee all the way back to your office to chug like an oversized movie soda as you pushed through more piles of papers. You had been up there practically three days straight, basically just surviving on the stuff at this point.
If you weren't going to take care of yourself, he supposed he'd just have to do it for you.
"Er... uh..."
You blinked slowly, the raw stinging of your eyes didn't quite help you in forming a convincing response.
You could've swore you nodded off once, maybe twice, at your desk sometime in the middle of the night but you weren't sure for how long exactly. It probably didn't even come close to qualifying as "sleep" in terms of rest.
"Mm-hmm. That's what I thought." He hummed, putting the pot of coffee back in its rightful place. A sound of surprise managed to escape your lips as he picked you up, carrying you out of the kitchen like you were nothing more than a toddler.
"Wh-Where are we going?" You questioned, blinking stupidly and trying to recover from your slight shock.
"Hmm, not Spain. Sorry, you won't be flipping any burgers today, my little spit-fire." He responded, his tone fluid enough to rival your second-nature sarcasm.
Your lips came together, squirming in his hold as you connected the dots. "I can't go to bed! I still have woooork!" You whined, pushing against him as if that would do anything in his powerful grasp. "I'm not tired!"
"Really? Oh, you could've fooled me." He chuckled, the rumbling of his chest against yours only making sleepy shivers dance through your body.
"I just need some coffee! That's all, c'mon!"
"No more coffee for you. You drank enough to last you a fortnight, yesterday."
He was so warm and comfortable, a much better feeling than any sized mug of coffee you could guzzle down would leave you; your fidgeting had come to a complete stop without you realizing it.
"I just..." You were cut off by a yawn forcing its way out of you. "...just a few more... p-papers..."
"Not today you're not." He chided softly, a hand rubbing tender little circles into your back with heated fingers. You knew that he knew it was only making you more sleepy (not to mention more frustrated) by the second. "You're having a sleep, something proper to eat later and a shower and then you can work and drink all the coffee you want."
Just a few more papers. Just a few more papers.... Just a few more papers.... Just... a few... more...
By the time Esidisi had reached the top of the stairs, your struggle had ceased all together and you had fallen limp in his arms; completely and utterly asleep.
The litany in your head fell silent as your eyelids drooped, losing yourself in the warmth of your Husbands embrace as the swaying of his movement rocked you as he walked along.
So many cheeky things you wanted to say died like flickering embers in your brain, unable to escape your lips this time.
Wamuu:
"Beloved?" The Warrior pushed open the door to your office, peering into the dark room with a frown. "Are you in here?"
"No. I'm on the Moon." Your voice (sounding a little worn but still holding that familiar pinch of playfulness) cut through the dark, coming right from your desk where you were hunched over and drawing away; the dim light from your tablet was the only thing cutting through the shadows of your cave.
He couldn't help but notice it was the exact spot he had left you when he departed early this morning to go do some training.
Warm, golden light shrouded you and your cluttered desk area, making you blink in surprise. You hadn't really realized that it had gotten dark at all and for the briefest of seconds you wondered how late exactly it had gotten; you shook your head quickly as you regained your focus on your work.
Nonetheless, Wamuu smiled softly and entered your workspace. It was an easy feat for the Pillarman to make his way through despite the darkness cloaking the room as he had most excellent night vision.
However, upon reaching your side, he reached over and flicked on your table lamp. He knew that the dark wasn't exactly doing your Human vision much good.
"Thank you." You mumbled, swiping your digital pen across the screen with slow and careful movements.
Wamuu hummed softly, leaning over you with a curious eye to see your work better.
"That looks very nice." He commented, the corners of his full lips tugging into a sweet smile as he admired your handiwork. You never ceased to amaze him with your little drawings and sketches.
You needed to get this piece done by the weekend and you wanted it done today so it could be out of your way. Each slip up of your hand or a line only made you feel more exhausted and more picky, lines overlapped and blurred and you could no longer take in the picture anymore; just your mistakes and its flaws.
A tired sigh escaped your lips, "I just can't get the shading right. I think I've had to redo it 8 times now..." you grumbled, only getting increasingly frustrated at the setback, a hand unconsciously reaching up to scrub at your eye.
Your eyeballs were starting to burn from focusing on the screen too long, a feeling much akin to being rubbed raw with sandpaper.
"Have you been drawing all day?" He questioned, turning his gaze down to the crown of your head with worry.
The Warriors smile fell as he took in your awry state more closely, he definitely didn't miss the umpteen mugs of coffee littering your space (some of which were only half-finished and long gone cold by now).
Did you even move at all while he had been gone? When was the last time you showered? Ate? Changed your clothes?
Really it was the best answer you could give, all you knew was that it was dark and you were sore and tired and your hand was cramping... so it was more than likely you had spent the entirety of the day working.
Once again, your movements stalled before slowly regaining focus, your movements slothy and lacking your usual grace.
"I guess..." you answered lamely.
Again.
Wamuu shook his head, you had been drawing all night last night and you had promised to go to bed after he kissed you goodbye this morning. It was obvious you forgot your promise and kept working.
The drawing tablet was easily plucked from your grasp, making you jump in surprise and reflexively make a grab for it.
"Wamuu-- wha--?!"
"This won't do." He said, quickly hitting the save button on your piece of art as he pulled the tablet further from your reach. "You're done for today."
"What? No! I--" You made an attempt to snatch it back but the hulking man wasn't having any of it, gazing down at you with stern double-ringed emeralds.
For now, he was taking matters into his own hands.
"No. You've worked far too long. Look at you beloved, you've become nothing but a shell!" He chastised, walking past you and placing your tablet on the highest shelf of your office; far, far from your reach.
You would only get it back once you were rested and cared for.
He pushed open the bathroom door with careful ease, not even struggling as he held you and set you down on the toilet.
You were picked up with ease, cradled in the Warriors arms like he was rescuing you from the battlefield as he marched out of the room. Your whines and cries and pleas to be put down went ignored, even as you pounded weakly on his chest.
You had originally thought he was taking your straight to the bedroom to put you down for a sleep but no, he walked right past the room without even a passing glance.
"Sit there." He told you, pressing a tender kiss to your head; the softness of his actions rendering you silent. "Let me handle this."
Your previous protests, your frustrations and any and all thoughts to your work had died all together by the time you two had stripped and were sitting comfortably in the warm scented water.
You blinked, watching him as he puttered around the bathroom; filling the tub with warm water and adding a generous portion of your favorite bathsoap, making a luscious and soothing scent fill the air and your senses.
A warm bath together would do you both some good, he was a little rumpled from training all day himself and you were worn down from your own work. Wamuu always enjoyed washing your hair and bathing together was always a good de-stressor in his eyes.
"You're too persuasive," you remarked, the words coming out as more of a sigh as he combed his fingers through your damp hair.
You hated to admit it but this was just what you needed; you could literally feel all the stress and overwork just washing away with the water rolling over you.
Wamuu chuckled softly, squeezing some of your favourite shampoo into his huge palm. "And You're negligent of your own needs. But don't worry, that's why I'm here..."
Santana:
"You are tired."
"I'm not tired!" You groaned, the exasperation in your voice was short-lived as the corners of your lips quirked up into a teeny grin. "...I'm y/n."
Santana tilted his head, pursing his lips. Usually you would chuckle at his obvious confusion (Santana still couldn't quite grasp puns and dry humor like sarcasm well, despite it being something you used more than often) but today you were too busy to sit down and explain it, let alone spend any time with him.
You still had work to pick at upstairs and judging by how things were going, you weren't going to be done anytime soon.
It didn't help the fact that Santana was becoming increasingly worried about you; he had caught you pouring yourself a bowl of orange juice and a glass of cereal this morning when you begrudgingly trudged downstairs for breakfast. The growling of your stomach neglecting its needs had become too unbearable.
Either way; you weren't going to let the fact you haven't seen a bed (or a fresh change of clothes) in days stop you.
"I just need to get some work done, Santana..." you sighed, emptying the pot of coffee into your mug. "I have a deadline at the end of the week."
"Sleep is for the weak." You replied, bringing the steaming mug to your lips for the first sip.
"You have not slept in days." He pointed out, the deep timber of his voice rumbling around the room. You could feel his eyes staring into your back as you fumbled around the kitchen.
Damn him for being so perceptive.
"Your kind is very weak." Came the immediate and factual response. "You require sleep to function and survive."
Like it or not, he was spitting straight facts.
You nearly choked on the gulp of hot liquid, it burned in your throat as his words hit you. Your mate watched as you opened your mouth and fumbled with a response to conteract that statement; ultimately having nothing.
It was always hard to argue when you felt so sluggish, your brain running just as well as an old windows computer, let alone when Santana stood there blinking so innocently.
You groaned, shuffling out of the room; mug in hand and the migrane you had been trying to rid of slowly regaining its pounding pulse in your temples.
"Oh honey, I'll be fine..." you whined, trying to ignore his eyes still watching you as you began your slothy trek up the stairs. "I may be a 'Primitive lifeform' but I can handle a little work."
The Pillarman watched you go, frowning to himself as you disappeared up the stairs; the hard shut of the door to your office the only sound following your exit.
Your energy was very low, he had only seen you eat a handful of times and it seemed like you were running into walls and doors more often than the average Human lately.
Santana was getting worried.
The hours of the morning ticked bye, eventually Noon rolled around and then passed and you didn't come down for lunch (or more coffee). The primal instincts of protecting you as his mate inevitably kicked in and Santana found himself at the door to your office, peering in with a curious eye.
There he was met with the sight of you slumped over at your desk, your back rising and falling slowly and rhythmically. The sounds of your soft breath hit his sharp ears, even from all the way across the room, and he found himself wandering in, coming right up beside you where you lay crumpled.
You stirred slightly, making his hair stand on end as a groan barely passed your lips before you settled down again, resuming your quiet snoring.
Upon further inspection he found your eyes were closed, cheek smooshed right against the wood of the desk and papers sticking uncomfortably to your face. Even your pen was still gripped in hand.
His eyes skimmed over some loose papers, nothing but meaningless words and numbers scrawled across the white without rhyme and reason to him but always it held some deeper meaning to you; your supposed work.
Your coffee had barely been touched, gone cold and sitting quite forlorn among the foodwrappers and empty water bottles and papers scattered across your workspace. Santana reached for the mug, sniffing curiously at the coal black liquid sloshing around inside. Throughout all the time he had known you, you always had a strange attachment to this drink; you claimed it was what kept you functioning.
Curiosity got the best of him and he brought it to his lips for a taste, wondering the exact appeal of it. He shuddered, growling, almost spitting the shallow mouthful of it out and turning his head away as the bitter and cold liquid overwhelmed his senses as it slipped down his throat...
Disgusting.
He brought the mug to his mouth again, unable to stop himself as he dove in for his second taste; doing the very same thing as before.
Not bad, actually.
The red-haired Pillarman pulled the mug close a third time, throwing his head back gulping back the liquid as if his life depended on it. Licking his lips and blinking rapidly, he cradled the now empty mug to his bare chest as his nostrils flared and toes curled, riding out the waves of it overpowering his senses.
It was so terrible but so good at the same time; so good he didn't want it to end but so terrible he wished the bitter and overpowering aftertaste would leave his tongue.
He turned his attention back to you, with a tilt of his head. You were still sleeping, nonethewiser to his very presence; it was likely you would stay that way for some time.
With only a moments thought he shuffled out of the room quickly, returning just moments later with a blanket and pillow in tow.
You needed your sleep to function, as he had told you, so he would leave you to it as he went downstairs to prepare more of that delicious "coffee" for when you woke.
With all the carefulness in the world, a massive hand slipped under you, lifting your face just inches off the had desk as he slipped the cushy pillow under you and let you down softly.
Gently, he draped the blanket over your back before leaning down, smoothing your hair and pressing a soft kiss to your temple.
He planned on having another mug himself.
Or two mugs.
Or five.
Or maybe three pots worth...

Sam hesitated a bit before reaching for the small gate that led to the entrance of a small cottage surrounded by trees.
When he decided to open it, a voice said, "I thought you wouldn't come in."
Sam looked up and his gaze went to the source of the voice.
He moved forward a little, and hidden behind a flowering bush, he saw Steve, a book in his hand, sitting in a rocking chair.
"Sam, it's so good to see you! " he said with a smile that not even the years had been able to change.
He got up quietly and came over to meet Sam.
"Steve, you look great."
"No need to spare me, you can add I look great for my age. Come on in. So what brings you here my friend? We... uh I don't get many visitors, so I'm a little surprised."
Sam, who had noticed the slip of the tongue, didn't insist and followed him into a small, pleasantly arranged living room. They took seats in two armchairs.
"So Sam? How are you? How is it carrying the shield?"
"I'm fine, and as you know yourself, not always easy. But I think I'm doing okay."
Steve smiled softly and said, "You are, and I never doubted it, though I hear you don't care what Steve Rogers wants." he winked.
"I see Bucky couldn't help but open his mouth."
Steve chuckled, "He even made a point of saying it to my face, full of arrogance with his stubborn tone, 'You know what Steve, Sam's right, we don't care what you want.' and you were right. I'm glad you found your way, although as Bucky explained to me, we had no right to ask you to do something like that without knowing the consequences. I owe you an apology too Sam."
Sam, touched, didn't immediately know what to say. It moved him more than he thought to hear Steve's apology and the fact that apparently Bucky had defended him so passionately. It further confirmed why he had come to see his old friend today.
"So Sam, you still haven't told me, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"
Sam fidgeted a little, he had thought it would be a formality, but now that he was here he realized it was harder than he had anticipated.
"Um...so here goes...you know Bucky and I are together...-" he began in a hesitant tone.
He was interrupted by a burst of laughter from Steve.
"I think I was the first to know. It was super early in the morning and I remember us...I was having breakfast when I got this facetime call from Bucky, talking all excited about a cookout, about 'Uncle Bucky' and in the midst of all this information, I managed to figure out that you two were a couple."
Steve looked at him with a fond smile.
Sam remembered what Steve was talking about like it was yesterday.
They had held a cookout on the harbor, and Bucky had come with a cake. Sam remembered how his nephews, family and friends welcomed him as if he were family. The way Bucky's face lit up when he saw Sam.
He especially remembered the end of the day, they were side by side in front of the lake and Sam had turned to Bucky and just said, "let's go home."
He had seen several emotions run over Bucky's face, shock, surprise, realization and finally a nameless joy.
He had whispered in a voice clouded with emotion, "Yes, let's go home."
And they had gone home, Sam's arm around Bucky's shoulders.
There had been no passionate kiss, no grand declarations in that moment, but like Bucky, Sam considered that from that day forward they were together.
"Sam?"
Steve's voice snapped him out of his reverie.
"Yes, excuse me."
"No worries Sam, believe me I understand you."
Sam coughed, then resumed, "Yeah, so I was saying, Bucky and I are together and things are going pretty well and-"
"According to Bucky, things are going more than pretty well." replied Steve with a cheeky smile. "He told me about the two of you taking a house together. If that's the case, then things are going better than well between you, right?" Steve asked him playfully.
It was true that, contrary to what the beginning of their relationship suggested, everything went smoothly. After fighting with each other and Sam choosing to become Captain America, they realized that the most important thing for them was to talk and listen to each other, and this allowed them to deflect most of the conflicts that would arise. Sam had learned to lean on Bucky and Bucky had learned to listen to Sam, and the balance between them was natural.
So living together had been a very obvious step.
He still remembered Bucky's joy when he had taken him in front of their new house, surprising him. But what had moved both men the most was the sign nailed to the door, obviously made by children's hands. It read: " Sam, Bucky and Alpine's house. "
The cohabitation was really going smoothly, it was easy to live with Bucky. They had adapted well to each other.
Sam smiled fondly, thinking back on all the little things that made up their daily routine.
Bucky was caring and Sam hadn't expected that. Bucky recorded every detail about him, all his quirks, his likes, everything-
"Sam? I lost you again."
You're going to think I'm an idiot by now," Sam replied with an embarrassed chuckle as he scratched the back of his head.
"I actually find it kind of refreshing, it's been so long for me, but I remember the thrill of the early months." said Steve with an understanding look.
"With her?" asked Sam, pointing to the wedding ring with his chin.
"Sort of." replied Steve with a mysterious smile.
"Always so evasive my friend." teased Sam.
"And so?" asked Steve.
"I see..." Sam didn't insist, "So I was saying, we're together and it's going very well. Bucky's even adjusted very well to Delacroix."
"Yes it seems to me he told me about working on a boat with your sister I believe?" asked Steve, looking interested.
"When he first came to Delacroix, he had brought me my new armor, and he stayed to help me repair the boat of our family business that Sarah, my sister, runs. And when he moved here permanently, he offered to help on his own. He fit in perfectly and the people of Delacroix respect him."
Sam thought of Carlos, who kept singing Bucky's praises. Bucky had taken a liking to the old man and often Sam would find them sharing a beer on the boat deck when he returned from a mission.
"You know Sam, it doesn't surprise me, Buck has always been a friendly and helpful guy. I'm glad to know that he's been able to get back to some semblance of a normal life despite the years Hydra took from him.I'm glad to know that he knows something other than fighting."
Sam saw emotion pass over Steve's face.
Of course he had seen that Bucky was fully acclimated to life in Delacroix and he was not unhappy about that. He knew that if he needed him, the White Wolf would be there in a heartbeat and ready to help, but he was glad to know that he had a life outside the battlefield.
"Yeah, sometimes I feel like he's lived in Delacroix longer than I have, and I was born there so that's saying something. So, yes, we live happily together in Delacroix, and he's kind of part of the family."
Steve chuckled, "Haha yes, Uncle Bucky. I really wish I could have seen his face when he was called that."
"You would have seen mine," Sam retorted, "I was the most surprised."
"Pleasantly surprised I hope." asked Steve, with a slight frown, gauging Sam.
"Yes yes, don't get on your high horse, Steve the mother hen. My nephews don't have much of a male presence in their lives except for me, that's why they adopted Bucky immediately, and needless to say, the reverse is true. Besides, he's become a legend among the younger generation, you understand, the bionic arm and all, even my wings can't compete."
Steve laughs as he imagines Bucky surrounded by kids.
"Wait, let me show you!"
Sam picked up his phone and after a few seconds, he showed Steve the screen.
The older man couldn't hold back a small tear at the picture of Bucky lifting children with his arm, while others laughed around him. But what touched him the most was Bucky's own laughter.
As Sam put his cell phone back in his pocket, Steve wiped away his tears as he apologized, "Well, that's just the way it is, as we get older we get more emotional, and to see my best friend this happy, makes me incredibly pleased, thank you for showing me this Sam."
"You're welcome."
Sam cleared his throat before continuing, "So here's the thing Steve, I came today, because Bucky is an extremely important person, hell he's the most important person in my life.  I never thought I would find someone who knows me and understands me so well and who I don't have to be strong with all the time.I told you he's part of my family, but I would like him to be part of it in a more official way, and since you're all the family he has left as I know he thinks of you as his brother, although sometimes you act more like his mother, so I-"
Steve, laughing at Sam's last sentence, interrupted him with a wave of his hand.
Once he calmed down, he began to speak, "Sam, I think I understand what you came for. And I want you to know that nothing makes me happier than to give you my blessing, but you didn't have to ask for it. From the first day Bucky told me about you two, you have had this blessing. You are an exceptional person, and I am extremely happy that my two best friends have found each other. Having found happiness with the person I love, I know how precious that is. Not everyone gets a second chance like we did... like I did. So be happy, both of you. You both deserve it."
He clasped Sam's hand and put his other hand over their joined hands, just like the day he had passed the shield to him.
Once again Sam's gaze was drawn to the ring on Steve's finger.
"You still don't want to tell me about her?" asked Sam.
Letting go of Sam's hand, Steve said simply, "No..." Steve paused for a moment before continuing, "This story belongs to him and me."
Sam abruptly raised his head, but seeing that Steve had resumed his mysterious air, he simply nodded.
"I understand. I'm glad you found happiness then."
He stood up and headed for the door, "Don't walk me out I know the way. Just wish me luck."
"You don't need luck. I'm sure he'll say yes." replied Steve with a wink.
"Goodbye Steve."
Then he closed the door behind him.
As he was about to open the gate, his phone vibrated.
He picked it up, there was a message, "On your left."
He looked over his left shoulder, and saw Steve in the darkness of the window, but he wasn't alone and had his arm around the shoulders of a familiar figure. Sam tried to make out the features of the smaller man, but couldn't. He simply smiled and went on his way.
**********
A few days later, at Delacroix, lying with his head in Bucky's lap, Sam watched him squirm to try to take a picture of his right hand with his phone.
He straightened up and asked, "What are you trying to do?"
"I want to send a picture to Steve, of this," Bucky said, waving the hand that had been sporting the engagement ring in front of Sam's nose.
Sam smiled with fondness, picked up the phone and took Bucky's hand. He captured a photo of their joined hands, the engagement ring in full view.
Then kissing Bucky's hand, he handed the phone back to him.
Bucky typed a few words and sent the message.
Several hundred miles from Delacroix, in a small cottage, reading, Steve picked up his phone, which had just vibrated.
On the screen were the words, "Buddy, you'll never guess who is going to tie himself down."
Followed by a photo of a hand adorned with what could only be an engagement ring, joined to another hand, undoubtedly Sam's.
"So that's it, Sam proposed?" said a voice behind Steve.
"And Bucky said yes." replied Steve as arms wrapped around him from behind and a kiss was placed on his head.
He set the phone down beside him and turned to put his hands around the waist of the man behind him.
He sighed softly in happiness as he said, "I hope they are as happy as we are Tony."
"I'm sure they will be, my love." the man whispered as he kissed his head again. Then he let go of him and came to sit next to Steve.
Tony leaned against Steve who put his arm around him.
Then Steve picked up his book and continued to read aloud, "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away."

Tumblr media
You finally had finished your board meeting and were heading out of the office building with your co-workers to retire to your humble abode.
"It's 7:37 pm ladies and gentlemen, and we are finally free for the night.", said Sarah, one of your close colleagues.
"Aaaand we're leaving 2 hours later than the designated office hours. This is over time!", exclaimed Kyunghwan, your senior, and sales manager. It was totally unusual but justified for everyone to feel this way. After such a heated discussion about the proposals everyone was exhausted and acted dramatically. Even though they were your seniors, almost everybody still treated each other without the honorifics outside of work; albeit they could seem eccentric given the time and place. You yourself had experienced it first hand and maybe tonight had just a little bit more in store for you.
" Everyone, I totally understand how you must feel.....", stated Mr. Yoon-ho, the team director. "We, are not getting paid enough. Let's go to a restaurant and give ourselves a well deserved treat. The person who is wearing blue today will be the ones to pay up!", came his suggestion.
Hearing his sudden offer, each person constituting the 8 people group cheered and hooted but started checking their dress colours as the realization hit in. 'Oh thank god, I'm wearing anything but blue today' , everyone thought simultaneously.
However everyone's eyes landed on you as you were the only one wearing a turquoise blue ruffle shirt with beige coloured cigarette pants. And everybody knew exactly where that suggestion in the director's mind had come up.
' Oh lord, it's Yeseul again.'
Firstly, Yoon-ho was a huge-ass spend-thrift. Even if he knows he wont eat or use something, he would still spend money on it. Especially when it's someone else's money.
And secondly, he despised you. You and your intelligence. And the fact that you were humble made it even worse for him.
Atleast one can hate on arrogant people for their arrogance. As for humble people, we can't even hate them for anything, much less like. Tch.
Sarah, concerned for you asked if you were okay with that. Not that you really had a choice in the first place.
But you had stopped listening-in to their conversation, midway. Because your eyes were solely fixated on this unexpected visitor, standing right across the road, leaning against his car and looking right at you.
Im Jaebeom, your soon-to-be fiancè, in all his glory was right in front of you and you had no idea what he was doing there.
"Sarah, I'll see you later."
Coming to your senses after 3.57 seconds, you waved back at him and quickly crossed the road to reach him.
" Yeseul, hey" started Jaebeom.
"Uh, hi! I didn't know you were here. How have you been?", unsure, you asked him.
"I've been good. I got off work early today so I decided to pick you up like a responsible boyfriend", smirked Jaebeom.
He had his hands in his pant pockets the whole time, was wearing a suit with his hair gelled up and looked like the epitome of a perfectly successful banker.
"How long had you been waiting?", you questioned. "Not too long, about 20 minutes? .... Yeah. Don't worry though, I was busy on my phone." He lied. He knew you'd feel even worse about the truth because in reality he had been waiting for you since two hours thirty-seven minutes and sixteen seconds.
But even then you insisted, " Now this makes me look really bad. You didn't have to come all the way here. Why didn't you call me?"
"I wanted to be here", he replied cheekily and pat your head. "And it was a good surprise, wasn't it?"
(Sighing) "what if I already went home or I was staying in late?"
"Well then lets just say I got lucky" he smiled.
You were about to say something further, but he cut you in, " By the way, your...... colleagues, they seem... expectant?" Looking back at them you see them all wide-eyed and smiley-faces as if they just didn't come out of an exhausting office day. Realizing their expressions , you turned and asked Jaebeom, " oh, um, Jaebeom-shi, you're not too tired, right? Have you eaten something?"
"No, not really, why?"
▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
" HA, HA, HA, HA, HA! WHAT A NIGHT MAN, WHOO!!" roared a drunk Mr. Yoon. "Wow, Yeseul, you have such a nice boyfriend, he's a keeper, hahahaha. Everyone! say, 'THANKYOU IM JAEBEOM-SSI!'.
Bashfully, everyone complied, giving you sorry smiles and yet enjoying the food and drinks in front of them as if it was their first time eating.
▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
Since the time the talks of you about to being engaged rounded up in the halls of your office, everybody had been eager and curious to meet this Mr. Perfect who they had only seen in photos. Everyday not only the women but also your male coworkers would come over at your desk asking you to set up a get together with him.
They all wanted to know who this mysterious person was, taking a liking for someone as stoic as you. They never imagined you being in a relationship with anyone- always holding the title of 'Fashion Femme Fatale'.
So now here you were- with Jaebeom- and a gang of 8 people who were doing nothing but wasting Jaebeom's hard earned money.
Yes, he offered to pay up in your stead.
Ah! So chic!
▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
You were getting really uncomfortable because you felt bad for Jaebeom who was nothing but sweet to everyone all this time. You were barely starting off in a relationship and now he had to witness all of ....... this.
You wanted to just take your bag and run away with him.
"Hmm, Yeseul , how long has it been since you guys started dating?" Asked Yoon-ho.
Huh?
" uh, it's been about...... 2 months?" you replied looking at Jaebeom for confirmation. After getting his nod of approval you continued, "why do you ask though, sunbae-nim?"
"Ah! I didn't get to congratulate you. First of all....... let me pour you a drink!"
"What, out of nowhere?"you retaliated.
"Ahem! I'm your superior."he countered. "You didn't even touch anything yet, Drink~ bottoms up~~".
In the midst of his coercions, you contemplated- 'Why... do I get intimidated by Yoon-ho ssi? .... Soju's too strong ...... Jaebeom won't be able to drive if he drinks it.... house is far tooo. *sighs* it's over for me if I get drunk and act like an idiot in front of them.... hhnnngg. But if I refuse, the mood will get cold.... last time I was fine for the first few drinks, right?-"
"Give it to me."interceded Jaebeom.
"Huh?"
Turning towards the crowd, he stated, "Yeseul's bad with alcohol. I'll drink for her."
"Ooo~ hahahaha~~"
"playing the knight for your girlfriend ? ~~ "
"so cool!! Whoa~"
Sighing you looked at him, starting to get a little worried. But suddenly everyone chimed in- "still! We're not satisfied with one drink!"
"Let's get Yeseul-ah drunk~!"
"Me too!"
"You cant resist our drink! We're your superiors!"
"Aah~ now, let's not push her too hard. Take it slow. Slow~" said Yoon-ho, giving you his ever so sweet smile.
'It is you I hate the most!' You thought.
▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
"Aah~ Jaebeom-ssi drank them all"
"~Food is great here!"
"Heard this is the hidden place for gourmets."
After a while things seemed to settle down, your thoughts again wandered towards Jaebeom-
'He keeps on tapping his fingers and feet.... all the while maintaining his smile. I wonder if he's getting bothered by them..... ' -
"Hey~ she cant take her eyes off her BOYFRIEND!" chirped Yujin( colleague, same age as you). Following suit everyone got started off- "He's good looking right?" " you didn't even glance at the others ~" "what ? No, when did I.. " you tried to defend yourself. Sarah who was sitting next to you all this time whispered, "don't take them too seriously 'seul- ah, they're only teasing you, and you know everyone is as good as drunk."
Suddenly Kyunghwan, who was sitting opposite to you, waiting for the right opportunity slipped in~ " You can take mild Brandy right?"
"Ah yes, I can"
"NO." Jaebeom interceded. Again.
He took the glass from his hand and drank it.
"Aish intercepting it all, gosh!"he exclaimed.
But leaving no stone unturned, he kept pressing, "hey! You guys are a couple, atleast show us a kiss!" And everyone started hooted demanding such a public display of affection.
Hearing this, your ears flared up, " oof, what's with you all? Dont you think it's too much? ..... please stop it already. I dont really want to do it. ........Why do we have to do it in front of you?"
Now this... was just too much. Right when you were about to give them a piece of your mind-
"Okay."Jaebeom announced.
" ...... "
" ....... "
" ....... "
What.
▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
The truth is that both of you had never really kissed before, the closest form of affection you were able to showcase for now was simply a hug, that too only when you were alone. You had no idea what went through his mind when he agreed to everyone's plea. Was he finally drunk? You had never seen him drunk before, all though a few of his friends that you had met told you he had a strong temperance. Maybe this was okay for him?.... Did he probably hear it wrong? Not being able to make head or tail of the situation you questioned him, "Jaebeom-"
"You....... and you." Cutting you off, said person pointed at Kyunghwan and then at Yujin.
"If you two do it, we'll do it too. In fact, it doesn't matter if any other two do it either." explained Jaebeom with a smile.
And then you realised what he was actually doing.
"Don't want to, right?..... I stink of alcohol and 'seul said she doesn't want it. Moreover, it won't look good, if a lady's colleagues at work would act like this, much less her seniors."
"Uh. . . . " a flustered Yujin tried to speak.
" Well I wasn't going to force her to do that" resigned Kyunghwan with a pout.
"Yeah let's just forget about it, okay guys? ", Sarah spoke.
"Wow~ get married already Yeseul, reqally" Said Yoon-ho.
"Such a perfect couple. Tch" mumbled Yujin.
However, when everyone went back to their own, Kyunghwan caught Jaebeom giving him a side glance with a poker face who then turned to look at you. Even though such a gesture unnerved him, the alcohol immediately brushed off that feeling.
You on the other hand were getting more and more worried about Jaebeom, you lost count of how many glasses he must've had on your account, and tried one more time to check up on him- " are you alright? You've been really drinking a lot." But he only gave you a smile in return.
(Sighing) 'He drank way too mu-' *plop*
His head suddenly on your shoulder now, he spoke, " I want to rest."
Looking at you Sarah whispered," He must be tired, you should go home now, don't worry, I'll take care of it here."
"Okay. Jaebeom-ssi ....... Jaebeom? Let's go home now, ok?" You asked.
"Seul."
"Yes?"
"My head aches."
"What? Headache?"
"Its too noisy here..... my head aches.....". Alarmed by this sight you wondered ' 'why's he like this ? Since the start he seemed a bit off. Is his head hurting from being drunk? This was such a bad idea."
You see him gently lift his head up and stare at his hands. Or the table. Or the plate? You see jaebeom blink.
"..."
And he blinked again.
'Ohmygod,he's definitely drunk.'
" uhh, hey- let's go get some fresh air, okay?" You asked holding him by the shoulders. You never witnessed something like this before. But he just stared at you.
'Answer me already.' You thought. Helping him stand up you took your bag, "okay, Sarah, we'll be leaving now, I'll catch you tomorrow, take care!"
"Yeah, you too, goodnight~" returned Sarah.
Once outside you tried to remember where the car was, since the restaurant didn't have a parking lot. You walked a few meters and then stopped. Due to him leaning on you, your back and neck hurt a little, so you decided to sit on the nearby bench. 'Ah, I'm out of strength.'
You both just sat next to each other like that for a while and then you asked him where the car was kept.
But he just smiled at you.
Heaving a sigh, you stood up and started searching around. "Just sit here, and dont move Jaebeom- ssi, I'll be right back." He saw your retreating figure as you left.
▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
After about 10 min you find the car at the backside of the building and return to where Jaebeon was.
"I found the car, give me the keys and I'll drop you off home" you said.
"Yeseul."
"Yes?"
He smiled. Again.
"Seems like you won't get up for a while." So you sat down. Did he even listen to a word you said? And no sooner than you did, he reached his hand out to touch your face, whereas you instinctively moved back. He paused for a moment, mid air, and then touched your cheek. "You look tired", he said thoughtfully.
Well he wasn't completely wrong.
He let his head drop on your shoulder, and again with the same sweet, mellow voice recited you name," Ye.seul.ah."
"Yes, yes I hear you." You laughed.
"I should've just left with you after work was over rather than come here. Everyone just wanted to meet you so bad. I'm sorry."
" . . . "
"Plus I didn't want you to pay for those guys." You confessed.
"Pay?", queried Jaebeom. "seeing how they sat and behaved with you , it's obvious that they were trying to leech off." He finally spoke.
" Yeseul, I want you to be very cautious and smart about who you associate yourself with in that work place and any where else. I won't always be around you, so you must be wary of people like Kyunghwan. Got it?" And then he lifted his head up to stare straight ahead.
So that's what was bothering him.
Trying to lift the strange tense atmosphere you spoke in childish wonder, "how dare they think of you as a pushover! In fact, why did you even drink whatever came my way, I could've handled-"
"What would you have done?" Cut in Jabeom.
You fell silent.
"Those two men and that woman, those three were your seniors. And anyone could notice how they exploited their position. I understood you couldn't do much from where you stand", he reprimanded you.
After a pause he continued, now in a smaller voice- "I dont think I can drive, how will you get back home?"
" Well thanx to a certain someone, I'm completely sober. So I'll drive your car to your house and drop you off. Then I'll take a cab to mine."
" 'seul?"
"Hmm?"
"You like me right?"
"Huh", you sat up straight, taken off guard by his question.
"You're sincere to me right? Whatever I do, I have always been sincere towards you."
Suddenly flustered by this uncharacteristic side of him you just tried to avoid his question, staring straight ahead.
"Just give me the car keys, let's go home now..." you said in a daze.
'Its definitely the alcohol in his brain.'
"Yeseul!"
"Ah, yes-"
chu!~~
"Wha..."
Chu!~~~
Jaebeom kissed you.
And the realization hit in.
Huh.
Huh???!!
" #$%@&**?! Jaebeom-!!! "
" ? "
"What are you ?! Why did you?!-"
"Hm? What? No one's around."
And he kissed you again. This time properly. Making you feel nothing like ever before.
▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎▪︎
Sadly, he ended up passing-out right after and you drove him back to his house, aided the house-helper lay him on bed, took a cab, went back to your home, changed into your night clothes, slipped in your bed and you laughed. You laughed until sleep graced you with her presence.
Except she never came. You were awake the whole night, rewinding and playing the scene again and again with the thought that would nag any other girl in your shoes- 'How do I see him after tonight! '.

Find my Way Back Home V
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: Bucky Buchanan Barnes is smitten to a four insignia military officer—you. How do you think things will unfold?
 Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
 Word Count: 1,654
Warning: Swearing?
You were cleaning your guns when you heard a knock on your door. You glance at the clock right just above the door frame and when you saw what time it is, confusion plastered on you face. 24:30.
Who would be up this late? and most importantly knocking at your god damn door?
No one.
Never did you have someone to visit your room especially at this god forbidden hour, that's why you were hesitant at opening the door, but then you realize, what's it that you have to be afraid of? If it is a friend then what a surprise then if it a foe then surprise mother fucker because you ain't backing down shit.
You held your gun tightly why you're walking discreetly to your door and when you open it you quickly held you gun right at the person's face while slightly backing up, away from his reach.
When you saw who it was your bewildered state become more visible.
"Bucky?" you intended it to be a firm statement but it came as a questioning one. Bucky only plastered you a hesitant smile while holding his hand up.
"Geez, do you usually point a gun in every person on your doorstep?" he remark, amuse but then keen and on his defence stance. You on the other hand were still baffled. Why the hell is he here? and when you further study him you noticed what he was just wearing— a plain pj's and a black fitted shirt. Who would of have thought that the Winter Soldier could look this domesticated. And then the bag in his hand caught your attention. Your brows knitted at further perplexity.
"What the hell are doing in here?" you asked directly. Is he lost? because that's the only logical thing you could think of, that must be the reason why he found his way to your chamber. His answer says otherwise.
"Uhm, I brought you coffee?" was that a question? or a statement. But then it occurred to you it must be a statement and your demeanour probably factor the way he delivers his speech. Your colleague would often comment at how intimidating you were that it sometimes makes them unsure of themselves.
"Oh" was your only response, for a moment there was silence between the two of you not knowing what to say, it then register to you how Bucky was still standing outside. There's two cups in his hand. Should you invite him inside? was that necessary? but then is keeping his outside an ethical to your side? would it be appropriate?
You followed your guts.
"Uhm do you like-uh want to get inside?" since when did you fucking stutter and become unsure? Well yeah, probably under Buchanan's gaze. Geez!
Now you grew flustered, was it really wise of you to invite a person who's in opposite sex of you inside your chamber? at this hour? You don't want him getting any wrong idea, would he?Fuck, since when did you become such an overthinking twat ?
Luckily your invitation brightens Bucky's face an gladly took your invitation.
"Yeah, sure, of course please" he answered, and he quite wince at how he stumbles on his words. Steve would trip. You didn't pay any attention to it though, to his great pleasure.
You step aside and open your door further to let him in and when he stepped inside that is when he notice the different guns laying at the top of your table and couch, scopes and usual materials in artillery.
"Oh you were busy" he said out loud, you just shrugged and told him that not really, and that you were just passing your time. Bucky knitted his eyebrows, passing time? at this hour?
Well he's really not the one to talk especially since he's also still wide awake.
You proceed at doing your task before Bucky knock at your door, Bucky then quietly examine your room, it was extremely organized like how he pictured it, your bed was neatly made, the books at the your nightstand where organised, even how your pens were laid at the table were put in order then his glanced dropped at you physique.
He took his time at examining your feature, savouring every detail of your face. Then he noticed it, for the first time your hair was down, different from the up do that he was accustomed to, not that he's complaining. You're wearing a mustard yellow shirt and—oh you're just wearing a shorts. He could feel the heat rising at his cheeks. He has to sip on his coffee to hide his embarrassment. Geez, he's not usually like this, he thought.
Despite of it all, he can't help the butterflies growing in stomach, the quick thomp thomp of his heart and the unnerving desire to scoop you over and embrace you with a hug, snuggle with you till you both see the sunlight beaming at the curtain. He can't help it. So once again his gaze fell on your form, he decided that he has to keep his gaze on your face and never to travel it down or it might continue to affect him and some other parts of him, he doesn't want to get himself any further embarrassment.
"You know Barnes, staring could be rude" and that snapped him out of his trance, he was quick to pull out his gaze and look at anything but you. He was like a child caught doing something he shouldn't.
"But don't worry I don't mind" you said smugly and despite his embarrassment he can't help but smirk at your remark. Why does he feels like you usually have this playful manner. That behind your stoic and uptight manner you were actually a goof. He didn't dare to voice it louder though.
"Oh uh- sorry" he apologized not really knowing what to appropriately say.
"I-uh I don't really know what kind of coffee you like so I just follow my guts, something's telling me you like Black and strong one you Uh-" Bucky was mentally cursing hisself, he was not usually a stuttering mess under any dame's presence. In fact he was a lady's man because of how subtle and smooth he is. Always charming and not a mess. It must have something to do with time, he blamed.
You seeing Bucky's predicament, you decided to put an end to his tense demeanour, his blubbering mess were quiet cringing you.
"Good choice" you said, and that put an halt to his talking.
"Great instinct, I like Black and strong coffee" you added and you could hear him muttering really?. When you glance at him you saw his beaming with joy as if he just perfected his exam and got an A on a test.
"Yah, keeps you awake" you added, and then Bucky notice it, how everything in you looks so perfect but then your eyes looked so tired and worked up. It doesn't make you any less beautiful but it clenches his heart thinking you were not getting any enough rest.
"Were you even getting any enough sleep" he asked, you were just about to take another sip at the coffee he just offered when his comment drew your attention. The sudden display of concern flips your stomach but you decided to ignore and shrugged it off.
You don't want Bucky to see he was affecting you, so you pull out your usual defense mechanism against this kind of stuff. Being a sarcastic and coy.
"Why, do I look like shit Barnes?" the alarmed look on Bucky's face would of have make you laugh, only if you were not pulling this act. The prior concern look on his face were replaced with a panic one.
"What?! No!" he quickly denied "of course not, what I mean is just— no uh-of course you're pretty- I mean you're always pretty but—I, I always find you pre—shit!" he curse and you saw him taking a quick breath seemingly collecting hisself before talking again.
"What I'm trying to say is that, you look pretty" amusing were now dancing on your face and that sends Bucky more on edge "but I'm not saying in a way that you're pretty pretty more on a — I mean yeah you look good but not that" he's mentally beating hisself for this.
"So are you saying I'm not pretty then?" you beamed
"Of course you are!" he answered way too quickly.
"Shit it's all coming out all wrong!" he exclaimed with frustration.
He wanted to say that you looked great without creeping you with the thought that he was finding you attractive or at least he doesn't want to scare you off. He wanted it to come out as a genuine and platonic compliment but it's all coming out and sounding like he's head over heels smitten with you—not that he's not, but he doesn't think he wanted to come out like this.
In the midst of bubbling mess your heart felt laugh echoed in the room and snapped him out of it.
"Geez Barnes, calm the foxtrot down" you laughed off.
"You can just say that I look good and you found me attractive and that would save you from the stuttering mess you are" you said smugly, Bucky would of have denied it, smeared the smugness off your face but then he would be lying.
Bucky just laugh at how straightforward you were. Didn't know you could be this vulgar.
"and I won't bite" you added while laughing with yourself.
"Instead of digging yourself a bigger hole, geez"  Bucky laugh with you this time, no longer holding hisself back. You were right, why is he still denying it to hisself and to you. What's the point.
So he gathered all his guts and admitted it.
"Yeah, yeah you look great, exquisite in fact" he mused.

In the midst of what seemed like the calm before the storm you found yourself sitting in front of the TV, watching yet another newscast completely misinterpreting the speech of the now infamous leader of the androids. After yesterday's hack every news report was booming with what they called ‘new info’ about the fugitives when in reality it was all fabricated bullshit, at least that's what you thought.
‘Where are they going with this?’ you sighed, shaking your head. Saying you didn't agree with the demands presented by the robots would be a lie. In fact, your fingers were crossed that they succeed in their uprising. Walking down the street and seeing how badly people treat their androids was always painful to you and now, seeing them take what's theirs has filled you with hope.
Your views however have always been shunned by the fact that you too have had an android or your own. Well, he wasn't exactly yours. In your eyes he was his own person that didn't have an owner but officially he has been assigned to lieutenant Hank Anderson- a man you've grown to become quite good friends with. One day you went to visit him in his office and that was when you met Connor- the android sent by CyberLife as he introduced himself. Soon you've grown attached to each other so much so Hank proposed that Connor stayed with you instead. Connor was a very special android not only to you but to the force and CyberLife itself. He was, in fact an android designed specifically to hunt deviants. And it hurt you. Sometimes Connor scared you too. You felt he just wasn't himself when he was working. He could be ruthless and heartless just like a machine… You tried talking to him about it many times, saying that maybe… maybe he was something else other than that but he never listened.  “I am a machine Y/N. Nothing more, nothing less,” was his response.
… Just as you were delving deeper and deeper in your thoughts you heard a loud knock on your door. Startled, you jumped up but walked over to open it. You had a suspicion on who it was and you weren't surprised for in front of you stood Hank Anderson and next to him… your Connor. But something was wrong…

“You're very late did something happe-” You locked eyes with Connor for mere seconds before he took a couple steps forward and with the blankest of expressions fell into your arms, whispering faintly your name. You gasped and wrapped your arms around him, looking at Hank in shock. “Jesus… what happened?” Hank just sighed and ran his hand over his face.
“I think it's best he tells you that. Sorry we're late but...things got nasty… Connor... He's seen some shit. I-uh I don't know exactly what's wrong with him, the technicians said it's probably just his processing slowed down a little so it should pass... I think.” Your eyes moved quickly between staring at the lieutenant and back to Connor, wider than they've ever been.
“Oh gosh… Okay… uh…” You glanced at Connor. He wasn't moving. Just...staring in the distance with hollow eyes, his LED remaining a harsh red. “Are you going to come in?” you asked, looking back at the lieutenant. He just shook his head.
“Nah. I have a couple things to do still. I just brought him back so he's safe. Take care of him Y/N.” You nodded and thanked him quietly. Hank gave you a knowing smile and retreated back to his car.

You closed the door behind him and slowly led Connor to your bedroom.
Once you were there, you pulled away from his arms and for a moment observed his face. It was emotionless and yet you could feel that deep inside him there was conflict.
“Connor?” you asked but got no reply. His eyes twitched though and seconds later he lifted up his head. “Are you okay?” He blinked once, slowly and shook his head.
“I...don't think so.”
You felt something inside you break. “Oh Jesus…” You sighed and hugged him again, letting his head fall in the crook between your neck and your shoulder. You stayed like that for a good couple minutes unmoving before you sighed and ran your fingers through his silky hair. “C'mon, let's get these clothes off of you. They're dirty.” Connor nodded. Gently, you pulled off his tie. Just as the rest of his clothes it was covered in blue blood. “Did you get shot?” He nodded again. “You need to watch out. You know I hate it when you get hurt and it would break my heart to know you had to be reset.”
“I'm sorry.” He said, helping you take off his blood stained white shirt. Once it was off you noticed no bullet holes, you assumed that was already taken care of by a technician but they didn't have any clean clothes. That's a relief.
You sighed and ran your hands over his broad chest looking up at his sad eyes.
Tumblr media
“Don't be. I don't want you to be sorry. I know you were just doing your job but…” You stopped yourself talking before you could finish the sentence. Your eyes fell down from his face and slowly you moved away from him going to the wardrobe instead to take out a clean t-shirt for him.
“But?” Connor asked, following you with his eyes. You sighed. You knew there was no way you could just drop the subject now that you started.
“... I just… I just wish you had a safer job. That's it. Now come, put this on.” You smiled and walked back to him with a plain black shirt. You rose up on your tiptoes and kissed him softly.
After Connor changed clothes you moved to the bed. His head rested down on your chest as he laid down on the bed on his stomach, wrapping his arms around your waist. Your fingers combed through his hair, massaging his scalp. You were resting quietly for a longer while.
“Connor…” You started. He looked up at you. “Can you tell me what happened now?” Connor moved his head back down and stared at the wall.
“There was a deviant on that roof..." He started the way all his stories from work seemed to start. There was a deviant insert place here. “I found him and I...I tried to catch him…” His voice cracked. “I almost did and I grabbed his arm to connect to it's...memory.” You noticed that Connor’s grip on your body had tightened. “But then… he shot himself.” You sighed sadly, feeling your heart drop. “I felt him die Y/N… Like I was dying.” Connor’s nails started to dig into your side harshly making you wince.
“Oh honey…” You sighed again. Connor moved away from you and sat up on the bed.
“I was so scared.” He squeezed his eyes shut. You sat up too, cupping his face in your hands making him look at you again.
“Connor…” you said calmly “We need to talk because I can't go on like this any longer.” A faint frown appeared on his soft features. His LED turned yellow as he waited in silence for you to continue. When you knew his attention was turned to you, you took a deep breath and continued. "I know it'll seem weird to you or maybe you suspected it for some time but... I agree with the deviants.” You shrugged with half a smile. Connor’s face went blank.
“What?”
“I agree with them Connor. I think they're right. They deserve the freedom. I mean, I watched their leader’s speech and I feel like there really is something more to them than just that they're machines. There's something more to all of you.” Connor stared at you with confusion painted on his face.
“Y/N…" He shook his head in confusion. "Deviants...they're just machines. Nothing more. They have a virus or something in their system that makes them simulate emotions but that doesn-” You sighed and let go of his face standing up from the bed.
“See you're not listening to me! Why are you so fixated on belittling yourself? Here I am saying that I believe- no. I KNOW you're not just a piece of plastic and metal and all you do is deny that!” You snapped, making the andr- the man in front of you freeze in shock. The LED on his head turned red.
Tumblr media
“You yourself said that when that android killed himself you were scared you were dying yourself. Fear is an emotion Connor. If androids are just machines how come you felt human emotions then? Are you a deviant Connor?” you asked but he seemed speechless, unable to form an answer. “Care to anwser?” You pressured.
“I… I am… I am not a deviant Y/N. I am a machine designed to hunt down deviants and that's what I will do. I wish I could give you a different answer but I can't.” You felt your frustration reach a critical level. It pained you so much to hear him say those things especially with that blank stare in his eyes. Is this really what he was? No. No, you knew that wasn't true.
“Fine. Fine you know…” You looked down at the floor. “Connor I love you. I love you so much. And I thought you loved me too. I'm sorry to hear I was fooled.” You felt a tear escape your eye as the last sentence fell from your lips. Connor’s eyes grew wide. The red light on his face flickered chaotically as you began to leave the room.
“Y/N! I've never said anything like that?” He shot up from the bed. You looked at him although your vision was compromised by the tears clouding your eyes and you shook your head dismissively.
“Machines can't feel love Connor.” You replied and left, leaving him alone with his thoughts.
_______
You stood by the kitchen counter, looking at the window. You were thinking about Connor as usual but instead of happy thoughts you began to doubt everything that you knew about him.
What if he wasn't lying and he really wasn't going to become a deviant? You thought you knew that he was just trying very hard to maintain the lie but… after what you heard in that room...you just didn't know anymore.
Your thought train was stopped though when you heard the door to the bedroom creek. You didn't bother turning around. You knew that if you did you would burst into tears again so you just kept staring out.
Connor came closer to you but didn't say anything. Instead, he wrapped his arms around your waist and hugged you from behind, putting his forehead against the back of your neck. You sighed sadly.
“Yes Connor?”
“I don't know who I am anymore Y/N. I'm lost.”
Oh...
Your heart began beating faster and you knew that he noticed too. You stayed silent though, letting him speak his mind. “On one hand I have my instructions I know I should follow but… but I don't want to. How could I not want to Y/N? Do I have a choice? I'm a machine but I feel all these things I'm not supposed to feel. I'm sad and I'm angry and...And I love you. I don't know what to do… Please help me…” You slowly and carefully turned around so you were facing Connor. He still held you very close to himself. You noticed wet paths down his cheeks. He was crying. That was enough evidence he was sincere you needed.
“You mean that?” He nodded eagerly. You couldn't help but smile a bit.
“Like nothing before.”
You cupped Connor’s face softly and with no warning, smashed your lips against his, startling him. He didn't pull away though and returned the kiss instead, pressing his chest tight against yours.Your fingers found his hair and combed through it, melting in his arms.
“I'll help you love… I'll help you however I can.” You reassured him, wrapping your arms around him too.
After a moment of silence Connor added, “Does this mean that I'm a deviant?” You laughed.
“You were always doomed to become one Connor. You just didn't want to let it be true. But I knew…” You kissed his forehead softly.
"I always knew."
