I've just re-read the short lived duel that Aeneas and Achilles have in Book 20 of the Iliad and it's actually the most hilarious fucking thing.
So it starts out with Apollo disguising himself as Lycaon, one of Priam's many sons, and telling to have a go at Achilles. Keep in mind that this is post-Patroclus Achilles. Aka: berserk Achilles. Aka: so fucking mad he would fight a literal river Achilles.
Aeneas, who is capable of critical thinking, says he doubts he can actually take him on. He also references a time when he was herding cattle on Mount Ida and Achilles ambushed him, adding that the only reason he survived then was because Zeus gave him enough strength to book it (cracking up the official times that he's been saved by a god from certain death to 3, you go dude!).
However, after a bit of back and forth and a ton of hyping up on Apollo's part, Aeneas decides to try anyway.
Like, what could possibly go wrong?
Achilles notices Aeneas charging at him and he begins to taunt him. It's something among the lines of: "I'm sorry, are you, background trojan character #61, actually gonna try and beat me? And then what? Do you think that Priam will reward you in some way? Maybe making you king after him? Well it's BULLSHIT, because Priam fucked so much that your chances of succeeding him are basically 0. Ahah. Loser."
Now, you'd think that maybe Aeneas got enraged at the comment and attacked him, or maybe he even got scared and backed down, but NOPE. What does Aeneas do?
Well, first of all, he insults Achilles' insults, comparing his bickering to that of a child. Literally, "I heard third graders do better than that." And then he decides to list his and Hector's entire fucking family tree.
You know that part of the Bible that's like "this guy sired this other guy, and this other guy sired yet another guy" and so on? It's basically that.
So after he's done with all that, Aeneas states that while he'd love to have a battle of insults with Achilles, because according to him he's actually very good at insulting people (his words, not mine), they should probably throw hands now. Achilles agrees.
The duel is shortlived and Aeneas gets his ass handed to him. Badly. As expected. And he's about die when ✨️POV shift✨️ we're not on Olympus where Poseidon, Hera and Athena are watching this absolute train wreck go down.
Poseidon, pitying Aeneas, suddenly goes on a rant. It's something among the lines of: "come on guys, look at him, he's just a little guy! He literally has no stakes in this war, he doesn't deserve to die here! He even gives us lots of gifts and sacrifices, he's literally such a nice guy. How can we do this to him!?
...oh and also he's part of some prophecy, Zeus would get mad if he died."
The fact that the way it's worded makes it sound like Aeneas being part of a literal prophecy is an afterthought to him absolutely floors me, Poseidon is literally just attached to a random dude that's fighting on the opposite side to his because he thinks he's nice.
After all that Hera is pretty unimpressed and states that she really doesn't care if our man lives or dies as neither her or Athena have ever saved a Trojan from death, she however adds that Poseidon is free to do whatever he wants.
The literal moment Hera stops talking, Poseidon lunges down from Olympus and onto the battlefield to look for the two combatants. When he does, he saves Aeneas like only he can do.
You know how when Diomedes first tries to kill Aeneas, Aphrodite gently folds her hands around him to shield him? There's none of that here. Poseidon just runs up to him and literally flings the motherfucker.
It literally says that he flies "high in the air". It's like a Looney Toons sketch.
So Aeneas lands and, while he's obviously a bit dazed, Poseidon proceeds to call him a madman and essentially tells him to never do something stupid like that again and just wait until Achilles is dead, then he'll be able to murder Achaeans to his heart's content. Aeneas is fine with that.
Achilles, who just saw his opponent just get yeeted into the fucking sky, just shrugs and goes "welp, guess that guy's off limits, I'm gonna go kill someone else now I guess lol".
This entire scene is pure fucking gold and the fact that I've literally never seen anyone talk about it just breaks my heart.

15-Day BL Challenge in 1 Night!
I'm more of a lurker than a poster but Tumblr's my fave place to wallow in BLness. My 2nd favorite place is the spreadsheet where I track the shows I've watched (172 completed in just over a year), so @negrowhat 's challenge was irresistible. I'm gonna cram my answers in one post. Here goes!
Fave OG Actor Pairing: Some of the ones I think of as OG are only like 4 years old, so this was tough. And the 18 shows that have gotten my top score aren't very old. But I went through those 18 and picked the oldest, and it was the 2018 Korean microfilm Some More. Because it's so short it's super rewatchable, but even if I wasn't able to watch the whole thing a half dozen times (which I have), I'd still have gone back & watched the sweet moments and sex scene about 25 times (which I have). So I guess my fave OG actor pairing is Park Chan Ung and Kim Joon Bum! How they got me so deeply invested in their love in mere minutes is beyond me, but they did!
Fave Rookie Actor Pairing: Does Japan do the CP thing that Thailand does? I don't think so, but one couple I wish had about a dozen more BL series together lined up are Kouhei Higuchi and Atsuki Mashiko of My Personal Weatherman! Their chemistry was visceral and they're too pretty to be believed.
Side Dish That Should've Been the Main Course: While I enjoyed the main pairing a lot, they were nothing compared to the crazy rollercoaster side plot (how'd it go from so funny to SO dark to so sexy to so sweet and wholesome like that??) of Vegas/Pete from KinnPorsche!
Fave Ship Dynamic: Obvs from answers 2 & 3 I am not against D/s ships at ALL. Also a sucker for tough-but-submissive-bodyguard with mafia-brat-prince. Honestly I like tons of different dynamics from innocent to toxic, but one that gives me major butterflies is a guy who thinks he's straight but when confronted with the idea of liking another guy, doesn't have a macho freakout or run away, just kind of straightforwardly & sincerely searches his feelings until he figures it out. And then takes care of his baby. Why's that so HOT and sweet? Some of my fave examples: Pete/Ae in Love By Chance, Le Jian/Amber from DNA Says Love You, and Ida/Aoki from My Love Mix-Up!
Biggest Flop: This is expectations vs. execution, right? There's loads of shows I've abandoned, some I've stuck with for no good reason, etc., that are way worse than what I consider my personal biggest let-down. I was so enamored of Perth from LBC that I assumed he could do no wrong, and the bully-to-lover, rich/poor pairings often do it for me. So I guess I just assumed Dangerous Romance would be amazing, and it was REALLY good for a couple episodes. It wasn't the worst thing I ever saw, but so much of it just ... felt ... flat. Very surprising.
Fave Line From Your Fave Series: Well I know my fave series--Cherry Magic Thailand was the most perfect, entrancing, heartwarming series EVER, OMG, it was staggeringly good and stuck the landing in a way few shows have managed. I can't really think of one standout line--the script was so on point & there were HUNDREDS of sweet tingly moments. There were some epic ones in ep11 tho: When Achi says "The voice inside your head is so loud" and Karan (the boldest he's ever been) replies "Don't worry; soon you won't be able to read my mind anymore." (But then clearly uses that power one more time to gain the sweetest nonverbal consent EVER.) Then, Karan: "Do you regret losing your power?" Achi: "I'd regret not loving you." (OMG how I squealed.)
Fave Villain: This was so tough. An over-the-top villain I loved to hate (and an actor I loved from his sweetie-pie green-flag role in SCOY) was obvs Heng Asavarid as Chalothon in The Sign. But an actor who was so excellent at being loathsome and malicious toward the main couple, with just enough of a redemption arc that I didn't totally despise the character by the end (but did hate most of the way through): Park Hae In as Eun Ji (Jae Won's ex) in The Eighth Sense. It was a typical "faen fatale" role but so well done. So a tie between 2 totally different takes on the destructive ex.
The Trope You Hate Except When It's "This Series": OK, "hate" is a strong word for how I feel about the drop-of-rain-makes-you-ill so love-interest-takes-care-of-you trope. It's OK. But holy SHIT is it overused. Holy shit. I sigh resignedly when I realize we're going there. EXCEPT. When P'Phayu goes to visit Rain in Love in the Air when he's sick, and his version of caregiving? Forcibly applying medicine in the form of a rectal suppository. It is so funny, weirdly sexy, very in line with their dynamic (doesn't get in the way of their romance moments later at all), & it shoves a big middle finger up the overoveroverused sick-bed trope.
Most Visually Pleasing Love Scene: Okay, THE scene in The Sign is the clear winner in my & many people's books. But there are so many runners-up: the post-race one in Love in the Air. Just about every one in Pit Babe (both couples) & My Personal Weatherman. (A lot of other faves don't quite qualify as visually or emotionally pleasing--lustfully pleasing should be a 3rd category in this challenge!)
Most Emotionally Pleasing Love Scene: Again, I have a clear winner: Cherry Magic Thailand. So full of emotion, so well deserved, so everything. Sigh. But lots of runners-up: same scene in The Sign, both kissing scenes in DNA Says Love You (tame but soo emotionally satisfying), Ray & Sand's camper reunion in Only Friends, the post-prison love scenes for both couples in Kiseki: Dear to Me, the 1st time in I Feel You Linger in the Air ...
Breakup That Should've Stayed Broken Up: Maybe it's because I try to be choosy in what I watch all the way thru or maybe I'm a big softy who tends to root for every couple no matter how lame. In all my completed shows, I could only think of 2 breakups where I wasn't at all invested in them getting back together (and maybe against it): Tian/Poon, What Zabb Man and Top/Mew, Only Friends.
Wedding You Wish You Had an Invite To: If we're talking weddings that actually appeared in the show, Achi and Karan's in Cherry Magic Thailand, obvs! If it's hypothetical weddings, I'd be desperate to go to one of ANY of the characters in Playboyy! I'd wear a bulletproof vest & bring my own flask of booze, but it would be the trashy chaos-filled social event of a lifetime.
Give 5 Good Boys a Gold Star: Just 5? OK, some I haven't mentioned yet. 1. Shin Woo, Light on Me, 2. Palm, Never Let Me Go, 3. Mohk, Last Twilight, 4. Thun, He's Coming to Me, 5. Neua, Secret Crush on You. Best boys!

Something that’s always bothered me about the Alterna Adventures card packs is that they feature some guys I haven’t seen anywhere else.
Like the other expansion packs always have some sort of connection with other creatures (EX: Zapfish Zeal’s titular Zapfishes and other electricity-based creatures) or brands. But these guys are brand new! I’m starting to wonder if they’re original characters but DJ Octavio apparently has some sort of historical significance I’m currently looking into.
If anyone has any information, please DM me or send an ask in!

Title: Meeting the 1-A students!
Character(s): Student of UA Class 1-A (BNHA)
Warnings/tags: Slowburn platonic yandere, fem!child!reader, reader has a healing quirk, the obsessions themes are not obvious here but will happen at one point so just in case I am putting this here.

Okay but like imagine the school year starts and like you finally meet the students of class 1-A. Right beside Recovery girl, you were introduced together with her as someone who will be healing them if they were to get hurt. After all the hero profession was never really safe. Shyly you said hello to the students a little more used to it after greeting the other classes. And like most classes, almost all the students started to coo at how adorable you were. Mina was especially fond of you grabbing you for a hug.
You watched them introduce themselves and a few caught your eyes more so than others.
Deku was one of them as you remember him breaking that huge robot at the entrance exam unable to follow Recovery girl that time you sat right beside Aizawa as Mic told you to watch potential future students take the entrance test.
"Mister is very strong! I saw mister on the TV when you punched that big robot!" You gave a huge punch in the air mimicking him. Izuku was flustered at your praises and the fact that you watched him fight the robot wondering if it was really okay for a small child like you to be watching life-and-death scenarios and breaking bones.
After the first introduction Class 1-A always greeted you whenever you guys meet in the halls. You have become a sort of helper to the teachers, moving medic room to the teachers' room sometimes to classrooms often to hand out something another teacher had asked you to give to another teacher or student.
"Aizawa sensei told me to call you to the teacher's office!" You told Mineta smiling brightly at him when he had an expression of dread.
Aoyama always tells you how shiny he was, showing off to a kid his handsomeness which you looked enthusiastically at tho Aizawa wasn't all that sure when you told him about it. Though Aoyama was much more preferred than Mineta all things considered, Aizawa had to sit down with you one on one, one time to have you promise him never to listen to what he says.
No teacher was happy nor was Hawks who called Aizawa stating that you have been saying that big boob heroes are the best because one of his students managed to tell you that when the girls weren't looking.
You were quick to befriend Asui and Uraraka along with Izuku and Ida. Mina too was super fun to hang around with!
The moment they found out that you were adopted by the pro hero Hawks nobody could believe it!
"P-p-pro H-hero H-h-h-Hawks?!!" Deku partially yelled in surprise as he stared at you shocked. "So that was why Hawks was pictured in the news buying kid's clothes," Uraraka said blinking in surprise but way less shocked than Deku really.
"I did see him visit here a few times. Was it to pick you up ribbit?" You nodded at Asui smiling cheerfully. "Mr. Hawks always picks me up after work! If he comes back late then I will stay with Aizawa sensei, or Mic sensei or Recovery Girl sensei till he comes back!"
Everybody was staring at you both in surprise but also curiosity save for some. "Hey! What is it like living with the pro hero hawks?" Mina asked curiously by your side a finger on her chin. "Is he good at cooking?" You were quick to nod at her words, "Mister Hawks makes the best pancakes!"
Questions after questions were asked and you tried to answer them all. Tenya Ida tried to help calm down all the students but it was difficult when all of them were just so excited.
"Hey, I got a question!" Kaminari raised a hand, leaning from his seat to you. His face was curious if not a bit confused. "Why do you call Hawks mister? Since he adopted you shouldn't you call him dad or papa?"
It was an innocent question really, yet it made you silent as other students all looked at you. They noticed it too how you would always call pro-hero hawks mister. Yet it seems that you were taken by surprise and unable to say anything. Fidgeting from your place, quiet and hesitant.
Some students noticed how sensitive this question was. Concern on their face as they glance at you, Deku was about to cut in when they heard a bonk to the head. "Dunce face, what are you an idiot?" Bakugo seemed to have hit Kaminari on the head with his fist. Quickly changing the main character in the room to him. Bakugo immediately told him that he shouldn't butt into other people's personal lives and that it got nothing to do with him. Some students flinched at what he said, seeing that they did ask way too many questions about your life.
You just watched Bakugou yell at Kaminari silently.
Maybe it was then you also noticed him and started following him around when you can much to the annoyance of Bakugou.

"Yes it's true he was. Gerald threw him right out the window to us. He's got a really good arm." Yuji thinks about it but was thinking to the question.
"As to that, we had to chase him down before catching him against in UA.." he said trying to explain.
"Gotta run, gotta run, gotta run!" He said running down the street but that's when he was seeing some cars flying by trying to hit him but he just keeps running faster.
"GET BACK HERE!!!!"
"NOOOOO!!" He keeps running only to see the scary dog again trying to catch him. He was shouting to run faster.
"Come on, he's getting away!" Megumi shouted as the four hurries to catch him. Mineta kept on running but he was trying to find a hiding spot. No where to hide it seems only for him to duck seeing needles almost pinning him. "Eek!"
"He's down here! Stop you jerk!" Nobara said jumping down as Mineta kept running. He keeps on running but he didn't know Eito was keeping a eye on him from the skies. He then noticed he was rushing towards UA. However, Mineta kept on running only to see he was jumping over the security wall in a way but he was too scared to remember he could just go in.
For a bit, the others stops panting.
"Damn it, where did he go!?" Yuji said with the other three catching their breaths to hear Eito flapping his wings to point. "Huh?" They look up seeing the UA school. "Is he there?" Megumi asked seeing Eito nod.
"..Then lets hurry! That's pervert's going to pay!" he said.

"But that's one way we found him." Yuji said.
"Ugghhhh I rather not say what we found in his room." Nobara said not wanting to remember but Megumi sighed.
"We found a lot of things but you should know what it was mostly off."

The UA students along with the DBT was standing in shock, hearing things being broken and thrown out of Mineta's room. They were destoying it only to find more and more panties.
"The hell MIneta!? Have you been hoarding panties in here!?" Ida said in shock as the UA girls were silent.
"Yeah, you guys need to get him help and soon!" Nobara said still angry. "I can't believe he's held so many. That's not right!" she said.
"....And this is why we stay out of his room.." the girls said. They kept hearing things being pulled and thrown showing a pile of bras and panties he's got. Even some for the girls in NYC too. Yeah, he was not looking good here only making the DBT girls mad and the UA along with Yuuka too.

baldur log day 3
TODAY WAS THE WORST DAY OF MY FUCKING LIFE!!!!! OHHH MY GOD. IM SO MAD.
ok. im exaggerating but. ill get to that. so lets just go through the first couple things that happened. heres the squad. say hi intrepid heroes
so i talked to zevlor and agreed to find the goblin leader.
on my way to the goblin camp i meet these people who talk about the absolute and call me a true soul after their brother dies lol.
then they say theyre looking for a survivor from the ship crash, i say i am one and..
they... wanna kill me...??? i really didnt want to but i was already in the fight so im like. whatever. sure man. so i cooked the shit out of them, duh. im curious about what their deal was though... also i had the option to ask if they knew about halsin the healer and i didnt ask which sucks cus i should have done that first
also im... starting to catch on to what astarion is. if im assuming correctly. cus earlier he talked about how much he looooves rare ass meat thats "dripping" with blood and that was weird as a random comment but...

anyways. then i meet this dog by his dead owner. befriend him. all good.
but then. i use speak to animals (with wyll) and talk to the dog. and wanting to help i yell at the corpse. because im like. I DUNNO MAN. maybe the dog will realize hes dead. but then HE GETS MAD AT ME AND TURN COMBAT MODE COMES ON.
and i tried to go back and reload. i didnt want to but i also did not want to kill him. but the save was so far back. then i tried to run away with astarion but i guess running away works per character. so i thought oh maybe if i return the fight will be over.... and it wasnt....
i have never regretted something more. ohhhh i am going to show you so much love and compassion when i run this game a second time.
this is the worst thing to happen to me. ever. fuck everything. i still love you scratch.
...anyways. got to the goblin camp. used a wisdom roll to convince the goblins we're good thanks to the brain tadpole.
astarion commented on how we could convince anyone to do anything with the tadpoles and he was like mweheheeheh.
but of course i agree with shadowheart. cus shes goated. also id agree with that if it wasnt her either way.

oh also we leveled up right before this hell yes
but ya then my friend speves reminded me to go back to that gate in the beginning of the game that was locked. so i went there and unlocked it with astarion. fucked up like twice but hey man its a dc 20 okay. im lucky i had vampirical fuck with me or ida never unlocked it
but yeah i went into the crypt, looted some stuff and killed a couple people. nothing bad happened in the first room and i did not have to reload.
embarrassing as fuck
but yeah then i intimidated the guys outside to leave
and shadowheart said i was more cunning than i looked.... wow. thank u. im flattered.
but yeah relatively short session i havent even found halsin or met karlach yet but hopefully i get that done next time. ive got a test tomorrow so im gonna fuck off and study hell yeah bitches

Part 11 (yes, the real part 11, my blunder now corrected was here):
“Then what’s with all this secrecy?” She whispered. “And I mean, of course she’s stunning. That’s clear. But the way you’ve spoken about her for all these years…”
“It wasn’t a secret,” Debbie sighed, feeling defensive. “We just…didn’t tell anyone, alright? I mean it’s hard. I’m her assistant. She’s high up at the company. What would people think? What did you guys think? Things…change, mom. I don’t know.”
“They do say the line between love and hate is rather thin,” Darlene thought aloud, considering her daughter for a moment. “I should be mad at you. But gosh, I’m just so excited! I mean a wedding! Debbie, this is big.”
“It really is,” the brunette grumbled, starting to follow her mother towards the house.
“Oh!” Darlene exclaimed, suddenly spinning around. “I have the most wonderful idea! Danny, listen. What do you two think? For Ida’s birthday this weekend. What if you and Lou got married right here?”
“What if pigs could fly?” Danny snickered under his breath as Debbie swallowed thickly.

“Mom, I don’t know. We sort of are trying to just enjoy the whole engagement bliss or whatever. We haven’t really even started planning. And it’s not fair to Lou. I mean her family isn’t even…” Debbie paused mid-thought. Lou never really mentioned family. Parents, siblings, anything. All Debbie knew about was her revolving door of dates and hookups and Debbie knew there were only so many of them because Lou was never one to be “tied down”.
Imagine that, Debbie thought, her face blossoming red before she cleared her throat, looking back up at her mother, trying to fabricate some excuse.
Lou stepped in, luckily, literally stepping into Debbie’s space and taking her hand. “Sweetie,” Lou smiled sweetly before turning to her mom and grandma. “Like Debbie said, we want to take the time planning. “Yes. That. Exactly,” Debbie nodded, grateful for Lou’s reasoning. “It’s already too much that we’re sharing the engagement. This is a big birthday. It’s grandma’s spotlight.”
“Deborah,” Ida chuckled. “Dear, you know nothing would make me happier than to watch you make a commitment to the person you love. It’s a grandmother’s dream! You hush about me and this being my time. That’s utter nonsense. Louise, dear, you’re too sweet. I insist.”
Debbie couldn’t breathe. She started fidgeting with the corner of her top as Lou looked at her with a mixture of concern and annoyance.
“Can we, maybe, you could show us to our rooms?” Debbie managed, as Darlene clapped her hands together, all too excited.
“Plenty of time for us to decide and talk wedding details!” Darlene agreed with a grin, nodding her head towards the hallway.
“Well, not too much time,” Ida winked.
“And don’t think you’ve weaseled your way out of telling us the story,” her mother added.
“What story?” Debbie panicked. Had she given a tell already? Were they onto her and Lou?
“Of the proposal, honey,” Lou spoke, through gritted teeth, as if she couldn’t fathom how Debbie couldn’t keep up with this fantastical mythical catalogue of lies and trickery that now involved her family.
“You’ll be staying in here,” Darlene announced, gesturing to a gorgeous guest bedroom that Debbie hadn’t even had the chance to see. A swoop of guilt washed over her as she realized it had been years since she’d last been home. But not all of that as her fault. She’d tried, she knew. A lot of it was the job. Was Lou. Lou relied on her. Had her on call. There wasn’t really time for….she didn’t want to even think the thought.
“Sorry,” Debbie coughed. “Which one of us? Lou, right? I figured I’d just stay in my…”
“Oh, dear,” Ida laughed. “I’m afraid your room is sort of mine now, Debbie. Ever since I moved in. It’s just easier for me since it’s downstairs away from the steps. Less of a walk. And you wouldn’t want to sleep in a pink room now that you’re a grown woman anyway, right? Don’t you worry! We’ve stored all your dolls and beanie babies and posters in the attic.”
Lou tried and failed to bite back a laugh, snorting at Debbie’s exasperated face.
“And even if we still had it, we wouldn’t want the two of you squished together in a full size bed,” Darlene laughed. “I mean, imagine! You’re our guests. And don’t worry, I’m under no illusion that you two haven’t slept in the same bed before. Wink wink. I mean, please. How naive do you think I am?”
“Oh, Mrs. Ocean,” Lou protested. “I couldn’t. What we do at home is different than…and I mean, surely Ida…”
“Please!” Ida laughed. “I insisted. Love birds have to nest together. I wouldn’t keep you two apart. Besides, what would be the point? You’d sneak around to get in some cuddles and who-knows-what during the night anyway!”
Debbie didn’t miss the waggle of Lou’s eyebrows as she suddenly forgot to breathe, choking on her own inhale of air.
“Can we have a sec, mom? Get settled and whatever?” She gasped.
“Of course,” Darlene waved them off. “I’ll have Danny drop off your bags.”
“And don’t dilly-dally too long dears,” Ida smiled, giving them a big grin. “We have to celebrate the engagement! Everyone will be so eager to see you!”
The door closed behind them and Debbie flopped onto the bed, back first letting out a frustrated scream into a pillow.
“Love birds?” Lou hissed, banging her head against the door. “Debbie, this is insane. How the Fuck are we going to convince them that this is real but stall them from throwing us a wedding?”
“Gee, Lou,” Debbie rolled her eyes, sitting up as she pulled the pillow against her stomach. “I don’t know. This was your brilliant idea if you haven’t forgotten.”
“I figured it would be a dinner or two. Maybe a walk. Not an ambush gunshot wedding and a stay for two at the Ocean bed and breakfast.”
“Well, here we are,” Debbie shrugged. “It’s your mess.”
“It’s your job to keep me out of messes like this,” Lou sighed, shaking her head, before something seemed to crack, the blonde sitting down on the edge of the bed, her hands falling into her hair. “Debbie, I—I don’t know what I was thinking. It seemed so simple. A stamp here. A signature there. Some little white lies. But now…”
“Now?” Debbie asked, shuffling closer to Lou hesitantly, trying a gentle hand against her shoulder, smiling when the blonde didn’t flinch or move away.
“This is all kinds of fucked up,” Lou grumbled.
“Well, we’re in this together, right? For better, for worse?” Debbie tried, catching Lou’s blue eyes linger on her sparkling engagement ring for a second before she tore them away.
“Right,” Lou nodded. The moment of vulnerability gone as she jumped up from the bed, starting to pace back and forth like she did before presentations. “Grab a pen. Let’s make a plan.”

For the asks game: 1 (Kieta Hatsukoi and Theory of Love), 9 (Cherry Magic and The Untamed) and it seems you already answered the majority of the others but I hope no one asked 14 yet? 💌

1. name a drama and I’ll pick my favourite scene in that drama:
Kieta Hatsukoi - I'll go with the scene on the swing set (apparently I have a thing for scenes on swing sets?) where Aoki and his friend Hashimoto realize that they don't actually have a crush on the same person. I just thought it was very cute how they had resignedly agreed that they were love rivals and then when they finally said the names of crushes out loud they figured out that the eraser had erased part of the name. It was funny and cute and a good depiction of a sweet friendship.
In my drafts there's a gif of the scene where Aoki spill juice on Ida; that one is also very cute, so maybe this is a good excuse to post it. Honestly, while I enjoyed Kieta Hatsukoi a lot, the details didn't really stick in my mind. Perhaps if I rewatched a different scene would stand out.
Theory of Love - There's a scene in a train station in episode 11. I don't want to give spoilers so I won't say more, but... yeah.
9. name a drama and I’ll pick my favourite character
oh, these two are both hard ones. I could have so many favorites from each, for so many different reasons.
Cherry Magic - ok. I've decided I'm going to use this opportunity to go on a mini version of my rant about Cherry Magic that I've been meaning to write. So I will pick Kurosawa, for who he was and who the story wouldn't let him be. He had so much interesting potential - this "perfect" guy who had a crush on the awkward one, the guy who thought he always had to be perfect and please other people... It's such an interesting character, but the show never allowed him to change. We got a glimpse at his own struggles in that flashback about the dinner where he was being sexually harassed, and where Adachi helps him catches Kurosawa's eye. But then it felt like that thread just got dropped, and Kurosawa never got to have his own story, it was all about Adachi.
I mean, it's also possible that Kurosawa was less static than I thought and I just missed some stuff. If so, please let me know!
Basically I wanted to this aspect of Cherry Magic to be more like Blueming. I loved Blueming for subverting this idea of the "perfect" love interest. Da-woon was very similar - someone commonly considered perfect, crush on an awkward guy, feels pressure to please other people - but the story allowed him to be flawed and change and grow. I loved Kurosawa enough to want to give him the same chance!
(The longer version of the still unwritten rant includes stuff about virginity, the title and the lack of focus on sexuality, Kurosawa's thoughts as heard by Adachi, stories as fantasies vs. stories as stories... probably some other stuff too. I did like the show! It just also frustrated me in ways that detracted from my enjoyment. I possibly went into it with expectations too high.)
And if I was just going to pick a pure favorite, it would be Fujisaki, their aromantic colleague. I liked how here they subverted expectations of her being a love rival, or a overinvested gossip or something, and had her be a sweetly supportive friend, but also with her own story happening so that her world did not revolve around the main characters.
The Untamed - Look this is really hard. I'm basically throwing a mental dart at a mental dart board to choose.
Wei Wuxian. His whole... everything. Self-sacrificing, arrogant, loving, brilliant, teasing, playful, clever... I honestly don't know how to write about him or The Untamed right now. I watched it just this spring and was obsessed with it for a time, but in many ways that seems forever ago. I feel like it's sunk into my psyche in the place before words. Perhaps someday I'll have more to say.
14. drama you dropped within the first 2 episodes (we’ve all been there)
There have been several, but I'm going to say 2gether. This world, where everyone's approach to getting what they want seemed to be stalking other people and everyone ignores the word "no," just does not appeal to me. (Interestingly, this meant that the depiction of Green as a predatory femme didn't bother me as much as I expected, because a lot of people in the show seemed predatory.)
I ended up dropping it at the scene where Tine somehow manages to play porn on his classroom's projector; the secondhand embarrassment was too much for me on top of everything else. I had intended to pick it up again, and maybe I will someday since it seems to be one of the foundational Thai BLs, but it doesn't feel like a priority.

Gloria already raising her eyebrows at Billy and Stu picking Y/n up is me 💀 and them calling Y/n so much over the weekend does make it seem like they care too much, but Gloria isn't positive since 1. She barely knows them and 2. She probably thinks she's being too analytical since she's gotta know they have girlfriends. She probably figures that it's very unlikely that they would try anything if they have girlfriends.
Part of me is like honey, don't u think it's a little weird how much they called? 😭 Don't u think it's weird how they offered you a ride when they knew Gloria could just drive you? But I also understand why she isn't thinking anything of it bc of her concussion and she probably just figures that their just being protective friends. Y/n saw how worried they were in the hospital, it makes sense for her to view them as being overprotective friends since she knows them pretty well.
Them calling Y/n so much and them harassing the receptionist to try to see her at the hospital gives off those protective and caring vibes, so I can't even fault Y/n for brushing it off. Y/n thinks she almost got murdered, so them going out of their way to make sure she gets to school safe fits how Y/n views them. Billy and Stu are constantly teetering on that line of wanting more, but not wanting to scare Y/n off. Y/n's not stupid, it only takes one wrong move to ruin everything.
Also the fact that Billy baby really thought about killing me in ch 1 for 'keeping secrets' ✋ BOY I KNOW YOU DIDN'T JUST THINK THAT. You and Stu gave me a concussion, your lucky I haven't just decided to makeout with Ray 🙄 keep trying to make me jealous with Sid and Tate and I'm bringing Ray home to meet mom pronto. Side note - Y/n BETTER brush them teeth and use listerine mouthwash after hurling. I know that breath gotta be lowkey musty after that 😭😭
THIS MADE ME SO EXCITED, I TOLD MYSELF THAT I COULD ANSWER THIS ASK AS A REWARD BETWEEN CLASSES AND HOMEWORK LOL (also just an announcement that i really want to finish part 4 today, but i have three assignments due in one class bc my professor is actually insane)
Yes!! Gloria knows! Everything! honestly, we know the real reason Stu and Billy are dating Tatum and Sidney, and that it's all about their big murder plans, but having girlfriends really does make them look less threatening! definitely a plus, especially since Gloria hates the ida of Y/n dating, especially now that Y/n's the same age she was when she got pregnant.
I know Y/n isn't being the smartest rn 😭 (especially considering that she's so smart sometimes!! good head on her shoulders, she just doesn't listen to it when it comes to BIlly and Stu 💀) part of it is her sheltered background when it comes to guys, but most of it is wishful thinking. Billy and Stu are her first good friends in awhile, and yeah, she has Sid and Tatum, but it's different with them. They're doting in a way that she's never experienced, and maybe she's starting to develop a bit of a crush that she will never consciously admit to (which we're about to start seeing in chapter 4!!) and so she smooths everything over, especially because Billy and Stu have a response for everything.
Also I love how you worded the part of them teetering on the line of wanting more, but not wanting to scare Y/n off!! They're manipulative as hell (we know this!!), so that definitely gives them some leeway, and they're taking advantage of the fact that Y/n's in a fragile state. In fact, they want to push her into an even more fragile state (Ghostface might be popping up soon...he's been a little quiet...just saying), because that makes getting what they want easy. After all, it's hard to feel weird about a friend holding your hand and coddling you while a murderer is after you.
ALSO YOUR COMMENTARY AT THE END HAS ME IN TEARS, billy switched up so fast!! i think his mommy issues make him feel betrayed SUPER easily,, so all it takes is one little thing for him to be like wow🙄 i see how you really feel (good thing he's not as impulsive as Stu) but on the bright side!! he only considered killing you for like two seconds, but then decided that he'd likely regret it in the long term!! cute boyfriend material <3 LMAO

A Christmas Kiss
Doing the mistletoe kiss game @bloodlessheirbyjacques started. I was also tagged by @tryingtimi some half-assed Cal/Mara fluff

"Tamara, baby!" her mom greeted them excitedly.
"Hey mom," she leaned in and hugged her mom fiercely. "This is my partner, Cal."
"Hello Mrs. Evanson. I made brownies." He held up the three plastic containers.
"Cal! It's so good to finally meet you! I’m Ida." She gave him a quick side hug, "Come on, kitchen's this way."
'Hellos' piled over each other as they passed through the living room toward the kitchen. Cinnamon and pine mingled in the warm air.
"That's a lot of brownies, Cal."
He ducked his head, "I couldn't decide which ones to make, so I made all of them." Mara’s hand on his arm reminded him to keep his glow well hidden beneath the sweater she had made him wear.
Her mom laughed, "Well I'm sure they'll all be delicious. You can go ahead and sit them on the counter there. Then you can come meet the rest of the family. Mara, your brother Addison will be here soon. Can you two try to get along?"
Mara rolled her eyes, "I will if he will.”
“Tamara, it’s Christmas. All I ask is one or two days a year of you guys not fighting.”
“I’ll try mom,” she sighed.
“You better.”
Mara laced her fingers through Cal’s. “Let’s go meet the rest of the family.”
Caldizaar was passed from hug to handshake with Mara’s family. Her father, Anton. Her uncle Lochlan and aunt Ella. Lochlan and Ella’s son Raymond and his wife Luna.
“Teeny couldn’t make it?”
“She’s visiting her daughter’s family this year. They flew her out and everything,” Anton said.
“Oh wow! I’m glad she’s getting to see them.” Mara turned to Cal, “Teeny is mom’s best friend. She usually does holidays with us since her husband passed away.”
Cal nodded gravely. “That is very sad. I am glad she’s with family.”
Mara shook her head before Cal had the chance to ask if he was one of the Claimed.
“There’s wine or eggnog in the kitchen. I also made my punch,” Ella said.
“Thanks auntie. You know I look forward to your punch every year.”
Cal trailed Mara back to the kitchen. Just as they were passing under the doorway she paused and pulled him into a kiss.
“Another holiday tradition,” she grinned, “you have to kiss under the mistletoe.”
“What is mistletoe?”
“See that little plant up there?” she pointed to the sprig of flora dangling from a piece of ribbon, “it’s a silly Christmas thing that started who knows how long ago. I think my dad does it every year as an extra excuse to kiss my mom.”
Cal tipped his head to the side, “Does your family need plants to kiss? I have never needed to have something to make me kiss you. I just do it.”
Mara laughed, “They don’t, it’s just a fun little thing. There are songs about it and everything.”
“Your world continues to fascinate me.”
Mara pulled a glass out of the cabinet and put it beneath the spout of a decanter. Bright red punch spilled out and into her cup. On the way back to the living room, Cal stopped her beneath the mistletoe and kissed her again.
“Are you enjoying it yet,” she teased.
“I am unsure. We should kiss again to see.”
Mara giggled, “As many times as you want.”
Cal wrapped his arms around her waist and brought his lips to hers. He could feel her smiling so big she could barely hold the kiss. Whistles and shouts from the living room finally pulled them apart.

The next morning you stand inside Mei and Ida's lab, surrounded by the hum of technology and the anticipation of the upcoming journey. Mina kneels down before you, assisting you with your gear, ensuring everything is secured tightly. Her flirtatious gaze then sends a shiver down your spine as she stands up hardly leaving any space between the two of you.
"You look good, Y/N," Mina says with a mischievous smile. She turns to Mei and nods. "All set here!"
As you stand beside the others in your group, Mei takes charge, checking everyone's Bluetooth devices and head cameras, making sure they're synced and functional. She then turns to Sero, reminding him to bring his adhesive tape. As she leans in to kiss him on the cheek, Bakugou nudges you, his face exaggeratedly contorted in disgust. You roll your eyes at his dramatics, knowing it's just his way of teasing.
"Alright, everyone," Mei announces, her voice brimming with confidence. "We're ready to go!"
Ida leads the way toward the tunnel entrance, and you follow closely behind. As you approach, the entrance reveals itself—a massive metal door, its surface etched with intricate symbols and markings. The door stands as a barrier between the known world and the unknown depths of the tunnels. Its imposing presence fills you with a mix of worry and excitement.
Ida's voice carries a stern tone as he imparts his final instructions, emphasizing the danger that awaits you in the tunnels. "Remember, everyone, keep your Bluetooth and camera devices on at all times," he warns. "We need constant communication and visibility. Safety is our top priority."
He opens the door, revealing the enveloping darkness beyond. You feel a surge of unease, gripping Todoroki's hand tightly for reassurance. He looks down at you, concern etched on his face, and asks, "Are you ready?"
You take a deep breath, summoning your resolve. "As ready as I'll ever be," you reply, your voice determined.
Bakugou takes the lead, his flashlight cutting through the thick darkness, illuminating your path. You follow closely behind, your senses heightened.
As you make your way deeper into the darkness, the ground suddenly crumbles beneath your feet, sending Midoriya stumbling over his own feet before he's nearly swallowed into the abyss below. The only thing still keeping him alive is his hands gripping onto part of the ground that didn't give out. Without hesitation, you extend your hand, reaching out to grab hold of him.
"Grab onto me!" you urge, your voice filled with urgency.
Midoriya's eyes widen in panic, but he trusts you. He reaches out, his hand trembling, and grasps onto yours with a tight grip. With all your strength, you pull him back onto solid ground, the both of you stumbling but safe.
Midoriya's breath comes in ragged gasps as he looks at you with gratitude. "Thank you," he says, his voice laced with relief.
You give him a reassuring smile, your own heart still racing. "You don't have to thank me, that's why we're here together."
Mei's voice breaks the momentary silence, her curiosity piqued. "Woah, I saw that! Are you guys okay?"
Midoriya's smile widens, and he glances at you. "No complaints here," he replies, his determination shining through.
Sero offers a helping hand, assisting Midoriya in standing up. You rise as well, and Bakugou shines the flashlight on Midoriya, checking if he's alright. Midoriya assures him that he's fine, though discomfort is written on his face, especially with the flashlight right in his eyes.
As the group engages in conversation, you take a few steps forward, exploring the surroundings. Todoroki's voice breaks through the darkness, "Don't get too far ahead, Y/N!"
You reassure him with a smile on your face, "Don't worry, I'm not going any farther."
Suddenly, a deafening noise reverberates from above. And as the deafening noise echoes through the tunnel, an overwhelming sense of danger fills the air. The ground trembles beneath your feet, and before you can react, a flood of rocks cascades down, sealing your fate beneath the weight of the collapsed tunnel. Panic surges through your veins as you realize the gravity of the situation.
Desperation takes hold as you frantically try to free yourself from the debris, but every time you pull out a rock, another takes its place. Your heart pounds in your chest, and each breath becomes more difficult than the last. Hyperventilation consumes you, the air becomes thin and suffocating.
The world around you blurs, losing its clarity as fear tightens its grip. The suffocating darkness seems to close in, pressing against your senses. In the midst of the chaos, thoughts race through your mind, each one a testament to the fragile nature of life and the uncertainty of your fate.
Todoroki's voice then reaches your ears, his words gentle yet firm. "Are you okay, Y/N? Focus on your breathing. Inhale slowly, exhale slowly. You can do this."
His coaching helps steady your racing heart, and you utilize the Bluetooth communication to reach out to Mei, your voice trembling. "Mei, how are we going to get out of this?"
Mei's response is tinged with uncertainty. "I'm not sure yet, but I'll think of something. Just hold on, Y/N."
Bakugou's voice breaks through the panic, injecting a dose of determination. "Don't you dare panic, Y/N! We'll find a way, and we're not leaving without you!"
As the hours pass, time stretches on, and a sense of unease lingers in the confined space. The group outside attempts to move the rocks, but their efforts are met with little success. The darkness feels suffocating, and your breaths come in shallow gasps.
"I can't... I can't breathe. It's so dark, Todoroki. I'm scared," you tell him, your voice trembling with fear and desperation. It has been over an hour since the collapse, and each passing minute has felt like an eternity in the suffocating darkness.
Todoroki's steady voice cuts through the heavy silence. "I know it's terrifying, but you have to stay strong. We won't leave you behind, Y/N."
"I don't want to die here. I don't want to be trapped forever."
"We won't let that happen," he replies. "We'll figure out a way. Keep talking to me. Tell me about something that calms you down."
You cling to his words, trying to find comfort amidst the chaos that surrounds you. Todoroki's presence is a lifeline, a beacon of hope in the impenetrable blackness.
"There was this garden near my old home," you answer, stuttering. "It was filled with these beautiful flowers and the smell of fresh air. I used to go there whenever I needed to escape."

So Transformers movies again,
So the thing is I really love these movies and I think one of the things I like best about them is the things other people hate,
The world their in is so familiar to the one I inhabit that it feels real to me in a way,
Like is there misogyny in here?

and do I like misogyny and being treated as less for my sex?
Nope, sure fucking do not, but thing is it is such a lived part of my experience that to not see it would feel off,
I mean I didn't even have boobs yet when family members started pointing at the 'sluty' girls on TV and telling me 'that's going to be you when you get older'

So when I see all these kick ass women being treated with less respect then the men,
I feel for these ladies it helps me care about these side characters that by design of movies being fast paced, you don't get much from,
And a lot of things that do put misogyny into to 'bring attention to it' and such,
They tend to show out an out creepos, or mustache twirling,
They don't tend to show the more wide spread every day basically every guys done it once things,
The first transformers movie has a great showing of this,
Now Maggie super smart chick, whose just had one of those intuitive leaps that tend to bare out right,
The kind we can't really describe why we came to this conclusion, because it was our brains connecting a bunch of small dots,
What is often called gut intuition,
A thing men are praised for and women are often called names and treated poorly for,
The men scoff at her will barely let her speak,
The main old white guy even starts off going 'this is the analyst that detected the hack?!'
'her team,' a guy adds in, when you see her prod guy in her team to do what he's supposed to be doing
She's really pretty and has a Australian I believe accent,
And she's also blunt, but not exactly overly rude about, she just won't be talked down to, or shut up, when an all out war could break over nothing that any human nation is responsible for,
The same old guy tells her to basically watch her mouth or he'll kick her out,
Again this gal just pulled this great stunt off for them and cause she's not kissing his ass, and just speaking like a normal human being, he's willing to lose her good work over it,

And the way everyone reacts to the Cybertronians is so realistic,
The desert scene where Epps a trained soldier is reporting on the Decepticon attacking his team,
And he's clearly the communications guy, he's always the guy on comms relaying what's happening, Lennox passes him the phone as soon as it connects,
And Epps is shouting things like 'i don't know man, if you'd seen this shit' while this giant metal scorpion is just fucking throwing down, it bursting up from under the fucking San like the god damn tremors movies, it shooting at them,
I mean can you imagine, even trained soldiers would struggle like that, because seriously what the hell,
Imagine for a second you lived in a world where transformers weren't a thing and all big robot shows inspired by it also didn't exist,
And you see these fucking guys,
Holy pants wetting man, ida fucking booked it my friends,

You see something done to the Autobots that we see done over and over in American history, and you watch it play out knowing that the US government is going to treat them this way cause they always treat minorities this way, so your trading racism for xenophobia,
The government turns on them the very second they think they don't need them any more,
And they do it by saying oh we're granting them asylum but no more of them working with the military,
And then the CIA whose given control over taking down Decepticons, being it's gross bad self goes okay, but we're also going to hunt down and murder all the Autobots too,

I definitely did not see Tuuli's post on Finnish names for AC characters and decided that I had to try and give them Danish names. How could you possiblly think that, you must be out of your mind!
Well, now that that's out of the way, here are a few disclaimers. The Danish pronounciation system is so hopeless that I'm not even going to try to explain it. J is pronounced like the Y in You and Y is pronounced like the ü in German, same as in Finnish, and E is also pronounced like in Finnish, and it definitely is still pronounced at the end of names, and a lot of female names end like that.
One final thing before I list this. In Danish naming culture, there is no tradition of thinking of the meaning of a name, so I haven't done that either. I have mainly gone with what I think suits each character, of course considering a few things for some names. A lot of the ones I chose are based on what kind of personality I associate with the name, which means it relates to people I know IRL. However, the spelling might not always add up.

1 The way I see the name Julie, the pretty girl is always named Julie. Maybe it's because that's the Danish translation of the name Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet". Also, the fact that the two first letters in Julie and the two first letters in Yukiko are pronounced similarly might also have had something to do with my choice.
2 I don't remember the exact meaning of Kurahashi's name, Solveig, but I know that the name has something to do with the sun. That's why I picked that name for her. It has many ways of spelling. I think this one is the most common.
3 As for the name I chose for Nagisa, Sasha, for the longest time, I thought it was just a girls' name myself, that was until I was in my second year of high school and learned that a guy in the third year was named Sasha. I was considering Mai, because for one thing, Nagisa's Japanese voice actess is named that, and apparently it also works for boys these days. However, as I'm thinking it might just be a modern thing, I decided against it.
4 The name I picked for Hazama, Freja, came because I was thinking that it had to be something that she would dislike. For those who don't know, Freja is the Norse Goddess of love. I don't know about you, but I don't think Hazama would enjoy being named after anyone asociated with love.
5 Let's start with Irina's name, Irene. I don't know when I started connecting those two names, but they do sound similar. When I think of the name Irene, the first that comes to mind is a movie character from a series of Danish movies. The antagonist in all the movies is called Irene. In some ways, she and Irina share the same attitude, so I think the name works well because of that. Now, Irene has a crush on another character in these movies. HIs name is Erik, so in lack of anything better, I gave Karasuma that name.
6 For Gakushuu's name, I let myself inspire by Tuuli's Finnish name for him. I don't know why, but I associate the name with someone who feels a little too good for everyone else, even if the Aleksanders I've met are nothing like that.

yes, but i don't think the bath and body work ones. tbh I think she'd go for unscented. hand sanitizer is already smelly enough don't need perfume on top of that for her delicate nose lol
10. does your character have tattoos? were they alone the first time they got one?
I think Ida probably has a little sick-and-poke on her ankle. something simple a flower or the like. She probably got it at a party when she was younger so no. she doesn't really remember who gave it to her just that it happened. she likes the idea of getting more but its low-priorty

23. what’s the pettiest thing your character’s ever done?
ohhhh, probably took something precious during his divorce just so that his ex couldn't have it. a painting, Rossein didn't really care for it but he knew his ex loved it. made his ex choose between two things he loved just so Rossein would have it and not him. Rossien probably threw it out or sold it not too long after.
7. what’s the first thing your character’s eyes are drawn to on a map?
Large cities and waterways. mountains too as those are the only major issue for his travels. he notes roads but they're only a suggestion.

24. what made your character the angriest they’ve ever been?
oh that's a hard one, she's baseline like 9/10 anger at all times so having an upper limit blurs most of them together. Probably finding out who her bio father is and what he did to Freddy. though all of those feelings are combined into a rage-filled spicy soup. alongside the loss of the relationship with her sister and just all the fuckery going on in the campaign.
but yeah, finding out your dad isn't only a cop, but he's also the cop who murdered her bf is a lot. but she's going to kill him wich will make everything better :)
30. how has your character’s first impressions of their party members changed since they met them? have they stayed the same?
ohh boy, this is a lot lmao
Glau: "this guy is weird but seems harmless. 3/10 threat, need more information" -> "this guy is weird, has drugs and can fuck shit up. 5/10 threat, stay on his good side."
Dunrich: "he's quiet, but seems competent. 8/10 threat, killed a harken worshiper more or less in cold blood; keep a watchful eye." -> "on the level, chill and a softy inside (gross) can marginally trust. 4/10 threat, do not move against will kill me if pushed."
Llewyn: "Quiet and on the level (crime). Knows how to get shit done and business-like 6/10 threat" -> "all previous statements are still true, will work with me for money and does not ask unnecessary questions. 9/10 threat, will most likely move against me if paid enough. Keep my eye on her...."
