funny thing about orv for me is that kdj never stopped asking for help. he's always asking for help. he's always testing the boundaries of kimcom when it comes to dealing with his multiple un-deaths not because he's cruel but because he just can't bring himself to genuinely believe that these people can stay with him for a lifetime. he knows it's wrong. but can someone who's been essentially left to rot by his relatives and society ever fully feel secure so fast especially with people like kimcom? how can you reach out for than hand without flinching after knowing the violence that it can be capable of?

kim dokja is always asking for help i think. in all the ways. he's never stopped. he's never stopped trying to reach for that hand without flinching... and i think that's why hsy would do anything and everything to convince kdj that his efforts would always be worth it... that such a hand reaching out to him will never disappear... only then, can kdj take in the comfort of being loved and grieved and mourned for, as he sits in that subway station

This is one of my favorite relationships in fiction. -Jack's character is defined significantly by the loss of his son at a young age. -Daniel also lost his parents at a young age.

The two of them fall very solidly into a respectful friendship that has VERY strong father-son overtones. You can see it whenever they get in a disagreement. Jack's exasperation-flavor is very annoyed-dad. Daniel's exasperation-flavor is very dad-why-won't-you-listen-to-me.

They mutually step into the role that the other needs filled, without discussion or acknowledgement. They ALWAYS have each other's backs, even when they're fighting. Their love for each other is unconditional.

They both get a second chance at the relationship type that was lost to them.

(And, since Daniel is a linguist, names are very important. So it doesn't escape me that HIS name breaks down to Daniel, Jack's-son.)

VERY IMPORTANT a dam in the Netherlands, the weerdsluis lock, is directly on a migratory path for spawning fish. They have a worker stationed there to open the door for the fish, but they can take a while to open it. So to keep the fish from getting preyed on by birds they installed a doorbell. Only, the fish don't have hands to ring the doorbell. If you go to their website, they have a LIVE CAMERA AND A DOORBELL that YOU RING FOR THE FISH when they're waiting, and then the dam worker opens the door for them! I can't express how obsessed I am with this. look at this shit. oh my god.

Please check on the fish doorbell once in a while :)

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.
