“I’ll make Goyle do lines, it’ll kill him, he hates writing,” said Ron happily. He lowered his voice to Goyle’s low grunt and, screwing up his face in a look of pained concentration, mimed writing in midair. “I . . .must . . . not . . . look . . . like . . . a . . . baboon’s . . . backside. . . .” Everyone laughed, but nobody laughed harder than Luna Love- good. She let out a scream of mirth that caused Hedwig to wake up and flap her wings indignantly and Crookshanks to leap up into the luggage rack, hissing. She laughed so hard that her magazine slipped out of her grasp, slid down her legs, and onto the floor. “That was funny!” Her prominent eyes swam with tears as she gasped for breath, staring at Ron. Utterly nonplussed, he looked around at the others, who were now laughing at the expression on Ron’s face and at the ludicrously prolonged laughter of Luna Lovegood, who was rocking backward and forward, clutching her sides. “Are you taking the mickey?” said Ron, frowning at her. “Baboon’s . . . backside!” she choked, holding her ribs.

Lunarry: I think it's a really cute ship. But I personally liked Harry and Luna's friendship in the books. I liked the sweetness and the fondness Harry had for Luna. I would definitely read something romantic with them as well though.

Harringrove: That's a hard no for me, I'm afraid. They're both hot dudes so I get why people ship them. But for me personally it simply doesn't fit. They're so different character-wise that I simply don't see how it could possibly fit. Also...Billy properly creeped me out. I know he saved Max's life in the end and I also know his violent behavior didn't come from no where but still.

Hellcheer: Even though it was over before it could begin, I liked their dynamic. So yes, I like that ship. Popular, troubled girl falling in love with a total geek who doesn't give a damn what people think about him. I can totally see it.

I guess this is apparently an unpopular opinion in the fandom (or at least Tumblr) but I don't see L*narry at all.. he finds her weird most of the time and not in a good way.. also, they really weren't that close in the books, maybe from her side but honestly on the trio's side it felt like she was more of an aquientences and I found it way over the top that she drew them on her room. Points to Harry for finding that endearing I suppose.

I did see it in the movies cause they made a point of showing how they understand each other but the meaningful talks (Thestrals for example) weren't in the books. I also hate Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope and L*narry is full of that.. blech.

And no I'm not saying this because I ship Harry with someome else.. frankly I don't think he had a good romantic pairing in the series.

Draco/Luna - E: I don’t really like it

Like most Draco ships, you’d have to really sell it to me, and I’ve never seen anything that sells it well without discarding the Malfoy family dynamic. (It’s usually based on “Draco protected her/was good to her when she was imprisoned at the Manor” and... I kinda don’t see that as a basis of a relationship? “Oh, when your friends and family had me imprisoned you were less than a complete a**hole, it must be true love!” No.)

And on the other hand I’m not really there for Luna/dudes ships because I feel very strongly that Luna gay, gay, gay. I don’t really think either one of them is the other one’s type.

But it doesn’t conjure any sort of visceral fury or anything, maybe just because I don’t tend to see it pushed particularly hard or as a desperate “THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CANON!!!!11!” sort of ship.

Harry/Luna - C: Not a bad ship

I really wanted to ship this one, but I just couldn’t get into it. Though I do see them having a girlfriend in common and cuddling a lot, if that helps?

The recent spate of really overbearing Lunarry shippers trolling Hinny blogs have kind of downgraded this from a B, honestly. Just, I started to see a lot of Manic Pixie Dream Luna Fixing Harry content and that’s just, absolutely not my bag.

All tea no shade but in the movies, Harry had believable and watchable chemistry with almost any Hogwarts student besides Ginny(the second movie doesn't count, she[Ginny] had a little puppy crush, that was it). I'm not hating on Hinny (not me, but y'all stay safe), I'm just saying. Like goblet of fire had half of the fandom seeing Harry and Cedric as right person, not enough time. And then Order of the Phoenix gave us Luna and Harry (which I am forever grateful for). But anyways-

Yep. He had great chemistry with literally EVERYONE except Ginny in the movies. Draco, Cedric, Hermione, and Luna (definitely not complaining about that!). Daniel and Bonnie are both brilliant actors, and it’s annoying when I see fans blame one of them for Movie!Hinny’s non-existent chemistry.

Drarry, Hedric, and Lunarry >>>>>>>>>>> Hinny (both in the books and the movies)

Also, Draco and Cedric were 10000% Harry’s bi awakenings, it’s canon.

As a Lunarry shipper, whenever I see how much Ginny got screwed over by Kloves and Yates, I'm actually a bit relieved that my ship isn't canon. Might not have been so bad for the OotP film, since that writer was actually quite partial to Luna, but once Kloves was back in HBP, he would have inevitably started tearing down Luna and propping Hermione up. Luna's oddness would have been played up to the point of making her a joke, while Hermione was portrayed as more "sensible".

Agreed. When I actively shipped Lunarry (I tend to prefer Ron/Luna nowadays), I was quite glad that the films didn’t push Harry and Luna together, since -considering what the filmmakers did to Ginny- it would have been to Luna’s detriment, since Kloves hated putting Harry in situations with girls who weren’t Hermione. And -like you say- she would likely have had her personality made the butt of a joke to make Hermione look good.

I also think that -unlike film!Hermione and film!Ginny- the film version of Luna didn’t get objectified nearly as much by Yates’s direction. If she had played a larger role, that might have happened, which would not have been good.
