Reflections on Luna's Intro Chapters

Luna has to be my fav HP girl. I couldn't care less if the other HP girls died (especially Ginny and Hermione) but I just find Luna so adorable and entertaining. Just some book 5 snippets I find interesting.

“What are you talking about?” said Ginny, who had squeezed past Neville to peer into the compartment behind him. “There’s room in this one, there’s only Loony Lovegood in here —”

I can't believe there are people so desperate for HP femlash that they pair poor Luna with a bitch like Ginny. I can see where the appeal comes from but no, just no. Why are the female friendships in HP so shallow and nondescript??

She closed the door again, rather pink in the face, and departed. Harry slumped back in his seat and groaned. He would have liked Cho to discover him sitting with a group of very cool people laughing their heads off at a joke he had just told; he would not have chosen to be sitting with Neville and Loony Lovegood, clutching a toad and dripping in Stinksap.

Neville deserves better friends. Neville is so Harry's pity friend. I will never forgive Horrid Harry comparing sweet Neville to Peter Pettigrew.

“She didn’t enjoy it very much,” Luna informed him. “She doesn’t think you treated her very well, because you wouldn’t dance with her. I don’t think I’d have minded,” she added thoughtfully, “I don’t like dancing very much.”

I don't ship Runa but Luna and Ron are so cute together. I wouldn't have minded this ship over Romione. At least Luna would not be prone to physically assaulting Ron and underestimating his talents. But I prefer Runa as a sibling relationship.

“Anything good in there?” asked Ron as Harry closed the magazine. “Of course not,” said Hermione scathingly, before Harry could answer, “The Quibbler’s rubbish, everyone knows that.” “Excuse me,” said Luna; her voice had suddenly lost its dreamy quality. “My father’s the editor.” “I — oh,” said Hermione, looking embarrassed. “Well . . . it’s got some interesting . . . I mean, it’s quite . . .” “I’ll have it back, thank you,” said Luna coldly, and leaning forward she snatched it out of Harry’s hands. Rifling through it to page fifty-seven, she turned it resolutely upside down again and disappeared behind it, just as the compartment door opened for the third time.

I love how Hermione is the only person Luna is cold towards. That's my girl!

“Yeah,” said Harry, “but you, unlike me, are a git, so get out and leave us alone.” Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Neville laughed. Malfoy’s lip curled.

Druna crumbs! Luna is the only person who did not laugh. Maybe because she is the only one with good enough humor to recognize a lame joke. You can do better than that Harry!

“Did everyone see that Grubbly-Plank woman?” asked Ginny. “What’s she doing back here? Hagrid can’t have left, can he?” “I’ll be quite glad if he has,” said Luna. “He isn’t a very good teacher, is he?” “Yes, he is!” said Harry, Ron, and Ginny angrily. Harry glared at Hermione; she cleared her throat and quickly said, “Erm . . . yes . . . he’s very good.” “Well, we think he’s a bit of a joke in Ravenclaw,” said Luna, unfazed. “You’ve got a rubbish sense of humor then,” Ron snapped, as the wheels below them creaked into motion. Luna did not seem perturbed by Ron’s rudeness; on the contrary, she simply watched him for a while as though he were a mildly interesting television program.

Oh Luna, I love you! Nice to see everyone outside the golden trio + Ginny are not brain dead Hagrid stans. What idiots.

Oh yes, another instance of Harry intimating Hermione to agree with him about Hagrid. It's so amusing how Hermione can lash out against Ron but Harry can subdue her so easily. Karma for how she treats Ron. It's so sweet! Pro Harmione! Gives me 'Taming the Shrew' vibes. People complain about Draco mistreating Hermione in Dramione when Harmione is right there in canon lol! Harry putting girlboss Hermione in her place haha!

Runa is so cute!

Ron, get yourself out of Hagrid's ass. At least Ron shows more common sense about Hagrid than dim wit Harry.

Harry Potter: Born To Die

Born To Die reminds me of Harry because of his ambitious and adventurous spirit. The lyrics say "Oh, my heart it breaks every step that I take. But I'm hoping at the gates, they'll tell me that youre mine." Which makes me think of him feeling like even though living his life is hard, he hopes that when he dies he'll finally see his family. Due to being an orphan, he doesn't necessarily have "a family" other than his friends. He lives everyday like it's his last. And, forgive me for saying this, but technically, he was actually born to die. He was a part of Voldemort, and should have died with him. I feel like this song not only is a perfect example of his personality, but his actual life.

Ron Weasley: The Grants

Honestly, I can't think of a better song for Ron besides this one. Being in a huge family, it's hard to feel loved, since it's all divided amongst a bunch of people (this is shown as something Ron struggles with in the books.) However, Ron is LITERALLY the biggest family lover ever. He cares so deeply about Ginny, looks up to his brothers, and he loves all his friends around him. This song talks about how when Lana (Elizabeth Grant) dies, she wants to take the memories of her sister's first born child, her grandmother's last smile, all of the amazing memories she's had with family with her. This is EXACTLY how I imagine Ron would be. This song is just perfect for him.

Hermione Granger: Old Money

This song is all about love. "If you send for me you know I'll come. And if you call for me you know I'll run." This reminds me so much of Hermione because she is SUCH a loyal and devoted friend. She is a badass who is not afraid to speak her mind. This is the only Lana song that I could find that truly defines her loyalty to her friends. She is an amazing friend and will stop at nothing to help them.

Fred Weasley/George Weasley: Lust For Life

I feel like this is self-explanitory. Lust For Life fits them so well. "They say only the good die young, that just ain't right. Cuz were having too much fun, too much fun tonight. Got a Lust For Life." They LITERALLY have a lust for life! They have fun everyday, not a care in the world. They focus on the present instead of worrying about the future. They crave life! They want to live it to the fullest! This suits them so well.

Luna Lovegood: Chemtrails Over the Country Club

This is just her. It's so her. "Normality settles down over me. I'm not bored or unhappy. I'm still so strange and wild." THAT IS LITERALLY HER GUYS LIKE COME ON?!? Idk, this song has a such a calm and loving vibe to it and it really reminds me of her. It's perfect for her. 110%.

Draco Malfoy: Honeymoon

GUYS OMG GUYS I WAS TRYING TO FIND A SONG THAT FIT HIM BUT OMG OMG THIS ONE IS LITERALLY PERFECT WHAT THE HELL OK LISTEN TO THIS... "We both know, the history of violence that surrounds you. But I'm not scared. Theres nothing to lose now that I've found you." OMG RIGHT?!? OK BUT THAT'S NOT ALL, LISTEN TO THIS... "Mr. Born to lose" WHAT OMG OK OK ONE MORE "We both know that its not fashionable to love me.." GUYS WHAT THE FUCK THIS SONG IS SO DRACO CODED!!! I don't think it needs explaining but, basically, the violence that surrounds Draco is so accurate, it's not fashionable to love him cuz he became a death eater and he's hated by a lot of people, and he's Mr. Born to lose because he has a shitty ass life fr. Guys, this song is literally him.

Neville Longbottom: Sweet

No explanation needed. This song is so loving and genuine and it reminds me of him because he's so kind and he is the sweetest person ever.

Remus Lupin: Gods and Monsters

I honestly don't have a genuine explanation for this, I just think it fits him. "I don't really want what's good for me." Idk, I think it fits him very well. Either this or "Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost" cuz of how understanding and uplifting that song is. It's hard to explain but I feel like those two songs fit him best. Hes so mysterious and sophisticated it's so hot pls help 😍

Sirius Black: Young and Beautiful

"Dear Lord 🙏 when I get to heaven 😇 please let me bring my man 🧍‍♂" 😍 AMEN LANA! bro, this song is so him. No fucking explanation. Next.

Dadd- Severus Snape: The album Honeymoon

This whole ass album is really good for him. It is so mysterious and soothing, just like him. The songs have a dark undertone, just like him. And the lyrics from Salvatore "Dying by the hand of a foreign man, happily" like cmon that's awesome. And the lyrics from Honeymoon "Say you want me too, dark blue." Idk, they fit him so well. I feel like Religion is a good song too, so is The Blackest Day. Basically the WHOLE Honeymoon album is HIM. All of the songs are lovely, but have a dark undertone and melancholy feel. It's so ethereal and really reminds me of him. I also think that a lot of the album "Did You Know That Theres a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard" is also a good fit for him, but that's a topic for another day. Also, I know that the honeymoon album sounds like it's romantic, but it's actually very sad. This is why I think it matches Snape. Cuz his love life is just...tragic. It just suits him so well.

Snape & Luna

I like to think Snape checked in on Luna as much as he could while she was a captive at Malfoy Manor, and that they had many odd conversations.

“I will ensure you escape from Malfoy Manor before I die.”

“Oh, are you planning to die so soon?” Luna asks.

Snape makes no reply but shakes his head slightly as if the prospect of his death is an irksome fly.

“Where would you like to be buried?”

“What?”

“We’ll have to put you somewhere. We can’t let the gernumblies take your corpse," she says airily. "Who knows what they might do with it.”

Snape considers. He supposes it is a serious enough question at bottom. His first thought is that he would like to be buried next to Lily, but he won’t be accepted into that particular plot. He wouldn’t mind being buried near Dumbledore either but his body would never be permitted on the school grounds.

“There’s a muggle playground not far from my house on Spinner’s End. Perhaps I might be buried there. The muggles don’t have to know.”

“A playground?”

“Yes.”

Luna giggles. “A sort of strange place for you to want to spend your afterlife, given your struggles with misopedia.”

"Misopedia?"

"The phobic hatred of children. Probably the after-effect of possession by faeries. It’s more common than you’d think."

Snape scowls. He’s not sure why he entertained this nonsense.

Luna pats his shoulder kindly. “Oh, don’t look cross. We could have a nice memorial bench with a little plaque on it. 'Here lies Severus Snape. He would have hated every one of these children had he met them.'”

“That’s very touching Luna," Snape says drolly.

"I think so." Luna says in a grave tone, and her protuberant blue eyes meet his with uncharacteristic seriousness.

Unpopular opinion

Alright, so I see many people giving McGonagall a fuck ton of love, and rightly so, because she is honestly Gryffindor Snape. She is savage as fuck, and having Snape as a #1 Favorite, I love that. Also, I can also sympathise with her as a character, due to her losing her lover and all.

Now you must be thinking "But everyone thinks this, Ash! This is NOT an unpopular opinion!" Well, the thing is, you see, I DON'T think McGonagall is all that good. Lots of guys give Snape shit for bullying Neville, but McGonagall? Why in the flying fuck does no one talk about how she sent Neville and 11 y.os to a forest stated to be dangerous, with WEREWOLVES for fuck's sake? That is worse than anything, ANYTHING, Snape has ever done. I know Snape has done it, but it was because he could do nothing else at that point, other than let Neville, Ginny, and Luna get tortured and sliced up by the Carrows. Hell, even when Harry nearly murdered Draco, what punishment did he ever give Harry? Harry just had to sort a list of the Pottah bastard's bullying petty misdeeds.

"But McGonagall is unbiased!" Yeah, the unbiased queen shouldn't be breaking rules for students in her house, should she? I'm not denying Harry has talent, but then he could have been introduced to Wood and Quidditch in second year. But just so Gryffindor can win, she not only breaks the Quidditch rule, but also the broom rule. Unbiased? Definitely not. Snape, who is apparently the king of biased teaching, has never done anything like this. Just accept that every Head Of House is biased towards their house atleast a bit 🙄.

Also, aside from the detention in first year, McGonagall was genuinely horrid to Neville. She legit told the guy not to show the Durmstrang students how useless he was. And people give Snape shit about bullying Neville. I mean, they are on point, but then if you're gonna give him hate, give McGonagall hate too. That aside, she forced him to stay outside the Common Room until someone came to the door to give the password. Trust me, this is not okay, even if you remove the fact that a mass murderer can enter the school somehow. And how the fuck did she blame Neville for leaving the password lying on his table? She said it herself, Sirius can't enter without a password. It's not like Neville stuck the passwords on the entrance door or something. Big fucking error on McGonagall's part.

All in all, I don't hate McGonagall, I still like her, but I feel she is worshipped too much. Her behavior was nearly as bad as Snape's, who was holding back against a bloodlusted McGonagall and still owned the duel with her.

Utterly nonplussed, he looked around at the others, who were now laughing at the expression on Ron’s face and at the ludicrously prolonged laughter of Luna Lovegood, who was rocking backward and forward, clutching her sides. “Are you taking the mickey?” said Ron, frowning at her. “Baboon’s . . . backside!” she choked, holding her ribs.

Who wants some Yule Ball headcanons?

Sarah was planning to invite Luna to spend some time having fun in her father's quarters, since they were both 13 and wouldn't be going to the Yule Ball.

Her plans were ruined when Luna was invited to the ball by some Ravenclaw dunderhead. This also ruined her mood, as she was clearly annoyed with Luna.

As a revenge, Sarah who had already been invited by Draco to go to the ball (but she had refused because she couldn't stand him and because she wanted to spend time with Luna) decided to accept his invitation.

When Luna found out that Sarah was going to the ball with Draco she was a little confused. She knew Sarah didn't like Draco (she didn't like him at all either). This made her a little insecure and… jealous.

During the dance, both danced with their partners only once. Sarah was very grumpy the entire time she spent with Draco, and her father wouldn't following her around. It was making her crazy.

Luna on the other hand, realized that her partner wasn't as fun as her best friend. So after the first dance, she ran to find Sarah, and asked her to dance.

Sarah tried to keep her frown on when Luna asked her to dance, but she couldn't resist. After a few minutes the two were already having fun together, as planned.

BONUS

Snape was completely against Sarah going to the ball in the first place. That's the only reason he allowed her to take Luna into his private quarters. So that they both stayed away from the Yule Ball, and away from trouble.

His plans were also ruined when Luna showed up with a partner for the ball, and Sarah told him that she would accept Draco's invitation.

He tried to say no, but Sarah just won the argument by saying that her only friend was going, and that she didn't want to be alone. She knew how to soften her father's heart.

Snape, however, gave her rules. "No revealing dress. No makeup. Curfew at 11pm. And for the millionth time, you will not pierce your ears."

When Sarah was ready to go to the ball, Snape couldn't believe how grown up his little girl was. Tears formed in his eyes. Sarah of course, found it extremely embarrasing.

During the dance he didn't stop following her, just to make sure she was okay and following the rules. She hated every single second of it.
