i've been on a pjo kick lately so i decided to plan out a character swap au purely for fun.

in this part, i'll be listing marauders era characters & my opinions on their godly parentage and planning out some of what a pjo au with them would look like. in part 2, i'll take characters from the pjo universe (specifically pjo/toa/hoo) and list my opinions on their hogwarts houses + some other stuff about them in the wizarding world. enjoy !!

peaceful au

this is the section where i do whatever i want with characters, none of them are involved in any prophecies or anything - this is an au with no wars where everything is completely made up. down further will be the section for a canon-compliant au where the big prophecies are fulfilled and people meet how they do in canon :)

*apollo is the name for the greek and roman god of music, archery, medicine, the sun, and oracles

relationships (siblings):

james and mary (half siblings) - children of aphrodite/venus

sirius and regulus (full brothers, thalia and jason situation) - children of zeus/jupiter

remus, barty, and severus (half brothers) children of athena/minerva

pandora and evan (full siblings, twins) - children of iris

emmeline and narcissa (half sisters) - children of hades/pluto

ted and alice (half siblings) - children of apollo

note: andromeda and narcissa are cousins in this

relationships (platonic):

james, sirius, peter, and marlene become friends right away and immediately start causing some mischief

marlene becomes friends with lily and introduces her to james, sirius, and peter

frank is the older head counselor of the posidon cabin (also the posidon cabin's only resident) and everybody has a crush on him (except for marlene, a lesbian, and peter, who's aromantic)

severus is "the quiet kid from athena cabin" but lily's good friends with him

sirius and james don't like him at first because he and sirius just clash (they both want to be the smartest of every room they're in and refuse to agree on anything) and james thinks he's being impolite to lily when he doesn't always respond to her, but he eventually understands that sev's just quiet and the two of them hash it out

pandora and evan are the weird iris kids. that's just who they are.

andromeda is the head counselor of the iris cabin. pretty much everybody knows her. she's been on a ton of quests and rumor has it she fought a harpy once.

andromeda and ted are like the parents of the camp, ted is also the head healer of the infirmary

emmeline is best friends with xeno, she sort of adopted him when she arrived at camp because he seemed lonely and she needed a tour guide.

meanwhile at camp jupiter...

remus and mary have been there since forever but they don't really get along with each other

remus is friends with regulus and barty (he finds barty annoying) and mary is friends with dorcas

narcissa and alice are older, narcissa is very broody and mysterious but everyone sees right through it. alice has a big fat crush on her.

after xeno gets with pandora, emmeline starts hanging around snape so she can give xeno some alone time with his girlfriend. like with xeno, it works because sev prefers to listen and emmeline really likes to talk.

relationships (romantic):

james/lily (past) - james and lily dated when they were younger, probably like 13, but decided to stay friends at the end of the summer. lily realizes she's lesbian soon after

sirius/marlene (past) - they also date for about two seconds before sirius realizes he doesn't see marlene like that and marlene realizes she is definitely not into guys

alice/frank (past) - they kiss once and then alice complains to frank about narcissa not liking her back and he does some super sleuthing to prove that narcissa is, in fact, gay for her

pandora/xeno (endgame) - pandora and xenophilius start dating when they're 15, they usually go out stargazing to avoid evan following them around and third-wheeling

sirius/remus (endgame) - remus starts crushing on sirius almost immediately after he first meets him when the camps are introduced to each other. they start dating like 3 months later and remus complains about his crush to reg and barty the whole time.

james/regulus (endgame) - they don't get along at first because regulus doesn't get along with anybody at first but since regulus is praetor, he speaks with "representatives" of chb like james, a head counselor, and they start to get along better and then start dating.

lily/mary (endgame) - these two are flirting with each other right away. eventually james and dorcas are basically screaming "just get together already!" so they go on a date. they're def the first cross-camp couple to get together.

dorcas/marlene (endgame) - lily and remus notice dorcas and marlene giving each other ✨looks✨ and team up to do something about it. this is how they become friends.

barty/evan (endgame) - these two take so freaking long to date. barty is enamored with evan immediately but sirius nor james really know him that well so he doesn't really have anyone to get him close to evan. then pandora notices and she's been trying to set her twin up for ages so she sets them up. evan is a little pissed that she put him on a blind date at first but he and barty hit it off.

andromeda/ted (endgame) - they're the parents of camp half-blood, they've been together for ages. that's it, that's the story. (they got together when they were 13, they're very cute, they would just bring each other flowers and eat in the infirmary together when ted had busy nights. andromeda scoffed at others for getting together so young but insists she and ted are different. they are.)

alice/narcissa (endgame) - alice has liked narcissa their whole time knowing each other and has been trying to be her friend since they first met. alice and frank kiss, which makes narcisaa jealous, and then narcissa and frank become friends when he consistently hunts her down to talk about alice. he convinces narcissa that he and alice don't like each other like that and the girls FINALLY get their shit together.

canon-compliant au

details are a lil messed up with parents being switched around and all, but here's who would be who in the different quests/prophecies. things will be similar to pjo universe events but changed some to fit the story because well... this is a riordianverse au.

these details also don't really line up with the stuff above b/c that is all structured around a more peaceful riordianverse ! down below is canon compliant stuff, as i said above. enjoy!

series 1: pjo (battle against titans)

people who the prophecy could be talking about (big 3 kids): frank, sirius, emmeline, regulus, or narcissa (tho reg and narcissa are from camp jupiter, so they're pretty much out for this one)

who ends up fulfilling the prophecy: frank, peter, and marlene -> explanation: frank is a child of the big 3 who manages to reach 16. when they're young and marlene first arrives at camp, peter gives her her first weapon - a bracelet that turns into a knife - as a welcome gift. when he betrays her by joining the titans, it curses her weapon and it's the same weapon frank gives him in order to kill kronos. rip peter 😔

frank is offered immortality but chooses to make the gods pay child support instead, what an icon

series 2: hoo (battle against gaea and the giants)

camp swap: sirius, the head counselor of chb's zeus cabin, is wiped of his memory and finds camp jupiter. mary is wiped of her memory and put on a bus with james and emmeline, who she's supposedly dating.

the seven: sirius, mary, james, emmeline, pandora, dorcas, and remus

the lost hero trio: mary, james, and emmeline

book 2 trio (wouldn't be called son of neptune because there... isn't one): sirius, dorcas, and remus

travel duo (people moving athena statue during book 5): narcissa and evan

mark of athena quest: remus (son of minerva, athena's roman form)

sirius and remus fall into tartarus (that's one way to start a relationship ig)

abilities (that cross over with hoo characters): -> sirius can fly (son of jupiter) -> mary has charmspeak (daughter of venus) -> emmeline can control gems & is basically sponsored by hecate, who teaches her to use the mist (daughter of hades)

series 3: toa (battle against nero and python)

main dude is still apollo ofc, but this time his master is lily, who's a teenager during the series (not a tween like meg)

the kids of apollo in the story are ted and alice, but ted will show up more because apollo & lily spend more time at chb

lester thinks he's destined to be w/ narcissa... she makes fun of him

the sun and the star (solangelo book)

i wanted so badly to make this jegulus but that makes 0 sense so it's nobleflower (narcissa is a daughter of pluto, alice is a daughter of apollo)

not much to say here either, tbh, but yeah. they go to tartarus and they're gay together.

closing/outro

this was so fun to make. i doubt i'll ever write it (which means others are totally welcome to, as long as they credit this post for the idea and inform me first! i'd also love to help others write it) but this was very fun to think about. i'm planning to make a part 2 with riordianverse (pjo/toa/hoo) characters at hogwarts so stay tuned for that. thanks for reading!

Random AU Headcannon

Snape is sorted into Ravenclaw instead of Slytherin. He doesn't fit in with most of the Ravenclaws though because he hardly speaks at all and is even more of a recluse than Ravenclaws are stereotyped to be, and his house-mates wright him off as inept and creepy because of it. Except for Xenophilius Lovegood, who also is ostracized by his peers, and who doesn't seem to mind Snape's quirks at all, and speaks to him frequently about his interests. The two form an unlikely and strange friendship, they make eachother feel more "normal." Snape feels protective over Xeno and often will bare the brunt of his bullying, and Xenophilius thinks Snape is one of the most interesting and kind people he knows (which is obviously not how most people would describe Severus.)

Young Snape x Ravenclaw reader

All characters are in their 5th year at Hogwarts. Reader is a ravenclaw (A/N I am a Ravenclaw so...YES!)

"Y/N!" Lily said shaling you violently. "Y/N wake up!"

With a groan, you opened your eyes to see the redhead hovering over you with a mischievous smile on her face. "Come on, were going to Hogsmeade today."

"Who let you past the Ravenclaw knocker, Evans?" you giggled, rubbing the sleep out of your eye and yawning. The Ravenclaw house was infamously known for letting Ravenclaws and ONLEY Ravenclaws into the common room and since Lily was a Gryffindor, she definitely didn't get in on her own.

She faked shock as she dramatically placed her hand on her chest, with a gasp.

"(Y/N), I'm shocked that you assumed I had help."

You looked at her with tired eyes, you knew her too well.

"It was Xenophilius Lovegood"

"Now that makes sense" you replied to her in a groggy tone. Standing up from your bed, you grabbed whatever clothes you wanted to wear that day. "But I can't go, you know my "guardians" didn't sign the slip."

Lily's smile grew even wider as she handed you a piece of paper. You took a glance at the paper and quickly put two and two together.

"Oh my god, you didn't" you said snatching the sheet out of her fingers and opened it.

"No, I didn't. Sirius did."

On a once blank line at the bottom of the permission slip was now filled in with your guardians signature.

"H-how did?.."

"Don't ask me how but... he did. Now hurry and get dressed the boys will be halfway through breakfast buy now"

Time skip (your in your regular clothes and just entered the great hall)

The smell of toast and pumpkin juice hit the pair of you right in the face. It was breakfast time and buy the looks of it most people were still asleep, leaving all of the good stuff for the taking.

As you and Lily walked to the 4 marauders, you felt a pair of familiar eyes watching you. When you saw it was Severus Snape you smiled and gavehim a small wave in wich he shyly gave you one back.

Even as children, you and Lily had always been together. You found out you were witches together and you met Severus together. And despite his home life he was the kindest person you had ever met. When you found out you were going to the same magical school as him you were over the moon and so was he. When you actualy got to Hogwarts the 3 of you became as thick as theaves but when you met the marauders he slowly became distant with you ... it broke your heart.

"Ah here are the lovely ladies now," James said with a gleeful smile.

"What took you so long?" Sirius said, standing from his seat to allow room for Lily and you.

Lily gave them an apologetic smile and sat nest to James who took the opportunity to wrap his arm around her.

"Sirius, I owe you a favour" you said showing him the permission slip with a smile.

He gave you a cheeky smile and said with outstretched arms " How about a hug and we call it even?"

"Sounds like a deal,"you smiled as he pulled you into a hug. It lasted for about a minute until you felt eyes on you again. When you pulled away, you saw that Sirius was looking behind you with a smug grin on his lips. You followed his gaze to see Snape with a broken look in his eyes.

With a hint of anger on your face, you turned back to the curly-haired wizard. " You know, Sirius. Being an arrogant git doesn't suit you one bit" you hissed, tapped Lily on the shoulder, told her you'd see her in Hogsmeade and made your way out of the hall.

After giving your slip to Mcgonagall, you began your walk to Hogsmeade before everyone else. You knew the way since you had been before. The walk was quiet and it was a welcomed breath of fresh air. It was pleasantly quiet and calming, the sun was shining and the wind was whistling through the trees.

Halfway through your walk you heard some movement behind you, you turned around you saw the familiar black-haired boy you had known for years. He looked somewhat shocked to see you and you too were surprised at first. He never seemed like the type of person to go to Hogsmead, but it was good to see him out of the castle.

"Oh hello Severus, I thought I was here by myself."

His shock was slowly disappearing and he took a few steps to walk around you. "I apologise...ill... get out of your way"

"What? no." You questioned, taking a few steps to stand beside him.

"Join me. Other than Lily you're the only person I can stand talking to."

When you said this he looked at you in a way you had never seen before. Admittedly, you understood his reaction to some extent. someone you hadn't spoken to in ages suddenly asks you to join them on a walk? very strange.

"I mean if you want to join me.. Id understand if you don't."

"N-no id like that" he quickly interjected. "I would like that."

The two of you started walking, side by side and for the first time in ages you talked. And it felt like nothing had changed between you.

"So... how has school been treating you?"

"Its been the same as every other year, I'm afraid. Very... unfulfilling. What about you?"

You sighed and fiddled with your shirt. "It's been stressful, to say the least, Severus. I'm majorly failing potions and my... friends are jerks."

"But you're friends with Lily and shes good at potions, why don't you ask her to help?"

"Are you kidding me? She's too busy hanging out with James." you chuffed. "And besides I've already asked her."

Another look crossed his face. This time you could practically see the cogs turning in his head before he spoke up again.

"Well... I can tutor you... if you wish."

Of all of the things you expected him to say you never expected that. He wanted to help you? "Really Severus? Id hate to impose."

"I wouldn't have offered if you were imposing."

A small smile crept onto your face. "Thank you Severus, but are you sure you want to be stuck with me for an hour?"

He gave an amused chuff and answered " I'm sure I will survive."

"Alright well I'm free all day on Sundays so.... does 1 pm work for you?"

"It does indeed, in the library and bring a notebook"

Before you could answer your name rang through the air. It was Lily, James, Peter, Sirius and Remus making their way down the hill.

Almost eminently you saw Severus demeanour change. He became fidgety and his head slowly curled itself to look at the mud path below his feet.

"Listen, Severus, I um... I have to walk with them now so I'll see you tomorrow yea?" you said nudging him and trying yo look him in the eye. when his gaze met yours you offered the tallboy a smile.

"Yes. tomorrow" he said before quickly scampering off down the road.

The group eventually caught up with you and Sirius threw his arm around your shoulders. " Hey, what you talking to Snivellus Snape for?"

Your eyebrows knotted in confusion as you pushed his arm off of you and looked at him. "What did you just say?" You genuinely didn't hear what he said but given his response, it clearly wasn't something good.

The smile on his face then morphed onto fear at the realisation of what he has just said. His eyes scanned his friends faces and they were just as scared for him.

"Severus, Severus Snape. that's what I said" he chuckled. The rest of your friends chuckled with him. You weren't convinced that's what he said but you went along with it since you were in an awkward situation.

"RIGHT LADS, WHO WANTS SOME BUTTERBEER!" shouted Remus pointing his wand towards the Hogsmead.

Everyone cheered and continued walking down the dirt path while you lagged behind, pulling Lily to walk with you.

Time skip to a few months later

As agreed, you and Severus would meet up in the library every Sunday for tutoring and during that time you learnt so much. Not just about potions but about Severus too. This clearly was something he enjoyed doing and he was eager to do. You also learnt a lot about yourself during this time.

Turns out you had quite a knack for potions when you had the right teacher and your grades slowly got better too.

Unfortunately that wasn't the only thing you learnt during this time. You found out that Sirius had a crush on you. He of course had yet to tell you this news himself. Peter let it slip in one of your charms class and you were shocked.

Then, on top of that, unbeknownst to you, Lily had told the boys what you were doing on Sunday afternoons and Sirius was pissed, to say the least.

This particular Sunday, Severus had asked you to meet him next to the tree across the Black Lake. He heard it was going to be nice out and since it was just going to be a reading session you thought why not.

On your journey there, you heard yelling and cheering near your destination. As you got closer you began to recognise some voices and when you heard Severus yelling you sprinted towards the tree.

When you exited the shrubbery you saw Sirius and the boys laughing at something above them. It was Severus. Sirius had cast a spell that pulled Severus feet first into the air. Hanging him upside-down.

You felt your blood boil in your veins. You didn't know this was going on or for how long but it stopped right then and there. Within seconds you grabbed your wand and shouted at the top of your lungs "EXPELLIARMUS!".

The amount of fear that glazed everyone's eyes in that seconds, was nothing more than horrifying. None of them expected you to be there (over an hour early) and they definitely didn't expect you to have this much anger pumping through you as you did in that moment.

The spell practically forced Siriuses wand out of his hand making Severus slowly land on the ground.

You walked right up to Sirius, who was quivering in his boots, and pointed your wand right at his face.

" YOU! You slimy, egotistical, peace of shit!"

"N-Now (Y/N)" He stuttered, holding his hands up in surrender.

"SHUT UP! now you will answer my questions with 100% honesty or I will destroy that pretty face of yours. Understand?"

He nodded his head vigorously.

You didn't need to worry about the others shooting you with their wands because they were just as scared as their precious "Pad Foot".

"Why are you doing this Sirius and for how long?" you seethed.

" B-because I'm in love with you..." He said looking at you with hopeful eyes " and so is Severus. I did it because I was Jesus."

You pushed your wand under his chin " I know the first bit but how long, Pad Foot?"

He went silent and lowered his gaze. "Since our first year"

You sighed and looked at the rest of the group. Your anger was slowly going away.

" You knew about this?" You asked. However, when you didn't get a response your anger quickly returned.

"DID YOU KNOW!"

Simultaneously they all nodded their heads. Your friends.. they were your friends and they purposefully hurt someone so that you would go out with one of them. It made you sick!

You raised your wand and pointed at all of them.

" Don't ever talk to me again or else the next time I see your names on the murders map will be in the dark forest. 6 FEET UNDER THE WHOMPING WILLOW! UNDERSTAND?" you yelled, tears at the corner of your eyes.

Sirius was upset, he took a few steps closer to you. " (Y/N), please"

"WHAT did I just... say?"

As he took another step towards you, you shot a bolt of electricity at his feet. "get out of my sight, all of you."

Within seconds they ran away with their tails between their legs.

Throughout this exchange, Severus was stood right next to the tree. He heard every word that left your lips and felt the emotion on every letter but at the same time, he felt fear. He felt the fear that was radiating off of the murders and he felt a fear he thought he would have gotten used to buy now. The fear of being rejected by the one person he loved more than anyone else. After Sirius had exposed his feelings to you.. that fear almost consumed him. When he saw you fall to your knees and drop your wand on the grass, However, he put the fear aside and went to comfort you.

Your face was already stained with tears. The pain you felt was excruciating and your hands were shaking from the amount of adrenalin. But... despite all of that when you saw Severus face come into view you smiled at him.

" You" you said breathlessly in a calm voice.

He knelt down to your level, with a clenched jaw, worry written all over his face.

With the smile still on your face you looked at him and said "You, Severus Snape are lucky that I love you too"

Silver Soul pt 2

pairings: regulus x oc

warnings: BRIEF mention of injury; in no way am I bashing the Marauders in this, I love them to pieces but I wanted to also show their immaturity over the course of the last few years as well.

word count: 2330

summary: Celeste can’t get away from Regulus. Everywhere she turns he’s there. Eventually the burning desire to know why he won’t leave her thoughts comes to a head and she confronts him. Maybe it will work in both of their favors

pt 2

Over the next few weeks, Celeste saw the youngest Black everywhere. It was like that now that she knew him she was aware of him. Without even thinking, she would search for him in the Great Hall or catch his eye in passing in the corridor. Not only was it frustrating but it was exhilarating because he would be looking back.

Never in her life had Celeste been actively seeking for anyone. Since she was young, Celeste had always been trying to keep the onslaught of other people’s emotions from taking over her life. But now that she knew Regulus, she wanted to continue to know him. If she tried hard enough, she could even seek out his emotions. It was thrilling to know she could control that.

The first Hogsmeade trip had finally arrived and Pandora had made it a point to drag Celeste along with her. What Pandora had failed to mention was her new boyfriend Xenophilius Lovegood was tagging along as well.

“Dora,” Celeste hissed when the boy had waved at them from the entrance of Three Broomsticks. “I thought you said it would be just you and me?”

“I never said that,” Pandora laughed airily and tugged Celeste along without worry. The irritated scowl she wore slipped off when they joined the taller boy and entered the pub together.

Xenophilius was a nice guy. He was tall and pretty, with high cheekbones and long blonde hair. He was a year older than them and a Ravenclaw prefect. His blue eyes were always bright with mirth and his joy laid thick around him like a cloud. It was easy to see why Pandora fancied him.

The pub was bustling with energy. Excitement, mischief, and glee bounced off the wet walls. Everyone was ecstatic for the first Hogsmeade trip of the year. Xenophilius lead them over to a quiet table in the back and then bounced off to get their drinks.

“Isn’t he lovely” Pandora gushed as she leaned over to clutch Celeste’s hand.

Celeste plastered on a smile, suddenly overwhelmed with a rush of adoration. She blinked a few times to clear her mind as she nodded. “Just the best. Is he going to be with us the entire time?” She asked, trying to broach the subject and not offend her only friend.

“We planned on just touring Hogsmeade together. If you don’t want to third wheel then I completely understand.” Pandora said sincerely. It wasn’t meant to be brash, but it seemed like Pandora was brushing her off.

Celeste just shrugged and sat back in her seat. She stared at the knots in the table with a furrowed brow. Why would Pandora invite her to Hogsmeade when she was just going to ditch her for Xenophilius? It would’ve been much more productive for her to spend the weekend with Madam Pomfrey trying to work on her control of her empathy.

Xenophilius joined them shortly later with three Butterbeers. Celeste would’ve left but she didn't want to be rude, so she stayed and sipped at her drink at the other two fawned over each other. It wasn't Pandora’s fault. The girl was just trying to be nice. Celeste should’ve known.

Stifled giggles erupted from the table behind them and Celeste subtly turned to see what they were all about.

“shut it, Wormtail, or he’ll hear,” Sirius Black hissed at his friend across from him. Sirius was just an older version of his younger brother. Same gray eyes, high cheekbones, and long silky black hair. The only difference was the easy smirk that never left his face.

Celeste knew them well. A little group of four in the year above her that liked to call themselves the Marauders. Their leader, James Potter, was tall and dark with messy black hair and dangerously placed glasses. His laugh was loud and always forthcoming. Beside him at all times was Sirius Black himself. The pair were always followed by Peter Pettigrew. He was a quieter blond with giant eager blue eyes. He trailed after them like a lost puppy, always soaking up whatever shenanigan Black and Potter got into. The last, Remus Lupin, was the only one that Celeste knew personally. They both spent a lot of time in the infirmary.

Being around Lupin was physically exhausting. The pain that one boy could hold in his body always threatened to knock her over. She could feel exactly what he felt and it was torture. She didn't know how he endured it. In her first year, after a really bad episode in her potions class, she was dropped in the infirmary in a bed next to Remus. Madam Pomfrey had no clue why Celeste wasn't resting and had no idea why she was feeling as she did.

“I don’t understand, Minerva,” Pomfrey said, worried to the Professor. Her cold hand brushed against Celeste’s burning hot forehead. “There’s nothing wrong with her.”

Celeste clutched at her side, skin itching and raw. Her head swam with pain she didn't even know she could ever have. After slipping sleeping draught into her tea, Celeste drifted off into a fitful sleep and woke a few hours later alone and in a haze. She glanced over at the bed next to her and saw a boy sitting up, a book resting in his hands. He sucked in a deep breath, wincing in pain at the movement. Celeste winced in time with him.

Rising from the bed, she slid back the thin curtain separating them and wavered on her feet. The boy stared at her with wide eyes, “Hello?”

“You’re hurting,” she said bluntly and pointed at him. “I feel it.”

“What?”

Celeste studied his pinched brow and the one hand pressed to his ribs. White bandages covered a large gash across his neck and two little ones were pressed to a cut on his cheek. “Your pain hurts.”

The boy blinked at her in confusion, “Yeah, I know. Its painful.”

Celeste rolled her eyes and took a step closer. “No, I feel your pain in here,” she said and pointed to both her heart and her head. “You’re also scared and angry.”

He stared at her again, at a loss for words. How did she know these things about him? It wasn't like he wore a button that said everything he was feeling.

“How do you know?”

She sighed, “I just told you, I can feel it.”

“How?”

Celeste shrugged. “I don't know. But I guess what I'm trying to say is that you aren't alone. I'm Celeste Gallant.” She smiled weakly and extended a hand.

The boy stared at it for a moment. He had absolutely no idea what was going on. “Remus Lupin.”

Celeste beamed and slid into the bed beside him. “Well, Remus, looks like you and I are going to be spending a lot of time together.”

And they did. Celeste usually ended up in the infirmary at least twice a week. She was usually only there to escape the sea of emotions that paraded around the school, but she always made sure she was in there during the day after the full moon. It was easier for him to have someone there who understand his pain.

Now sitting across the room from her, Remus flashed her a tiny smile and Celeste returned it. She shifted her gaze to his friends. The other three were bent over, whispering loudly and occasionally interrupted by giggles as they glanced over to a another table. Celeste followed their gaze until her eyes locked with a familiar pair.

Regulus was already watching her. It was something she had become accustomed to since the episode in charms. A question was always on his face, but he kept his distance, too afraid to ask. Celeste cocked a brow and glanced between his table and his brothers’. Regulus was joined by boys he called his friends, other Slytherins who kept their distance from Celeste and Pandora for the most part, but had no qualms about hexing the table of giggling boys.

Severus Snape was on his left as Barry Crouch Jr sat to his right. Avery, Mulciber, and Evan Rosier completed the circle. They were all caught up in their own conversations, oblivious to the plotting of the Marauders. Celeste wasn’t sure she wanted to be there when the plan erupted, and she was sure it would erupt.

Downing the rest of her Butterbeer, she took one last look at the scheming boys and cocked a brow to Regulus. He was already watching her and copied her movements, turning to whisper something to his friends.

“Hey, Dora,” Celeste whispered, tapping her cousins arm. Pandora turned to her with a smile. “I just remembered I have to go get new quills, meet you back at the dorm later?”

“Do you want us to come with you?” Xenophilius asked, already reaching to gather his things.

Celeste gave them a grin and shook her head. “No need, but thank you. You too have fun.”

Pandora stared at her for a moment, blue eyes studying her face, but she must have found what she was looking for because she gave her a gentle smile. “Oh course. Be safe.”

Celeste followed her gaze to both the table of Slytherins and the Marauders. Tensions between the two groups have always been high, increasingly so as rumors of war continue to blossom. With one last smile, Celeste rose from her chair and zigzagged her way through the mobs of students bubbling about their summers. Bursting out into the early October air, Celeste pushed past newcomers and ducked into the little alcove of the shop next door. She crossed her arms over her chest as she waited. Moments later, the door of the pub bursted back open and the shrill laughs and conversation from inside spilled out onto the street.

Stepping out of the alcove, Celeste met the eye of the boy she couldn’t stop thinking about. He was dressed in dark green robes, hair combed neatly to the side. It was very different from Celeste’s loose blue jeans and tucked in button up. She was starting to understand the vast differences of his Pure-blood raising. Pushing that aside, Celeste cocked her head.

“Why do you keep staring at me?” She asked, not even giving a hello to buffer her assault.

Regulus blinked at her, surprised by the bluntness. He tucked one hand into the pocket of his robe and glanced around. Hogsmeade was bustling with people. Witches and Wizards were going about their daily business as school kids giggles and talked all throughout the street. No one even passed a glance to the pair.

“You are the most unique person I’ve ever met,” Regulus answered, gray eyes unrelenting to give up anything else. Celeste remained silent, needing a little bit more than that. “I have never met anyone like you. Ever.”

“So you’ve said.”

Regulus pursed his lips and took a step forward. “Do you understand how rare you are? The Ministry classifies Empath’s as extraordinary individuals, high up there along with seers.” His gaze shifted around them again before he leaned in. “They require registration for it.”

Celeste furrowed her brow. If this was the case, then why hadn’t Dumbledore or Pomfrey told her any of this. They were the most intellectual Wizards she knew, yet they had failed to mention this extremely crucial part. It was almost as important as the werewolf registry. Another way to control her when she didn’t have control herself.

“How much do you know about this?” Celeste asked, gulping down the lump of panic in her throat. “How much do you know about me?”

“My parents have all these books at home about literally everything,” Regulus explained. “After my brother-“ he trailed off, hands tightening in his robes before shaking his head. “I had a lot of free time and spent my holidays reading. In class the other day when you snapped on me,” he chuckled lightly and gave her a tiny smile. “It struck. If you want I can show you them. I’m sure the library has all kind of literature on it.”

Celeste was stunned. No one had ever been this concerned about her before. Not even her parents. They were all along the edges of Pandora. It was a gift, don’t question it. But how could Celeste not question it when it consumed her day.

Clenching her jaw, Celeste stared at him. She could feel the excitement brimming underneath his worry. Worry that she wouldn’t expect. But there was something else.

“In turn, what do you desire?” She asked, knowing that no one ever offered their help freely.

Regulus gave her a shy smile. “Um, I just want to know if my brother hates me.”

“What?”

That was not what she had expected him to say. More along the lines of blackmail, use this to hurt somebody or something. But he just wanted something as simple as that? Regulus ducked his head, toeing the cobblestones beneath them. Shame coursed through him, but why. What was he ashamed of? Caring for his brother? But just underneath it was overwhelming loneliness. Celeste frowned.

“You miss him.”

He didn’t even try to deny it. Not that he could lie to her anyway. He kept his eyes on the ground as he nodded. “Maybe one day I’ll tell you why,” he started softly and lifted his head. “But I just need to know if he hates me.”

“I’m sure he doesn’t-“

“I need to know, Celeste. For sure.” The burning intensity of his gaze had her agreeing before she could even think.

“Okay, I’ll help you.” Celeste said.

If not to be kind then at least to understand what she was dealing with. For once in her lifetime, someone else was extending the branch out to her. Regulus was giving the the opportunity to have her own freedom. To have control over this power she had.

Who was she to deny that?
