“*lifts you into the air*” rafal @ alear (he Strong)
So maybe Alear was up a little late. In their defence, they'd heard about a rare fish in the water, one only found at night. So, here they are.
Or, were, until a force lifts them.
"Hey-!" They stop as they take in the flash of pink and white. Ah. Rafal. They should have known. There's no use struggling, they know they're just going to get dragged to bed. "Can't we at least wait a little longer?" They look back dejectedly at their rod, left abandoned when Rafal scooped them up.
"Fine, I'll go to bed," they relent. "But you can put me down. I don't need to be carried to bed." They aren't a child anymore, and they don't particularly appreciate it. It's bad enough they're forced to go to bed, like they haven't spent a thousand years asleep!

Just had a hilarious thought.
Yes, Alastor is attracted to power. But his coming to that realization was not prompted by Lucifer or even Vox.
It was seeing Zestial!
Imagine: He first arrives in Hell, and he's still building up for his big reveal, and then sees Zestial putting on some impressive power display and was like: Oh.
Z was his first aesthetic crush. Thankfully a passing one, but it explains why he respects him so much.
It puts a whole new spin on his reaction to Zestial appearing in front of him on the street in Episode 3. Then his immediate order for the EggBois to shush, despite barely tolerating them before. "Shut up, he needs to think I'm cool."
Okay, okay, okay, I got, like, 3 messages side by side the other day (including this one), that involves Vox as well, and I've been super sick the last few days, so I read this in my migraine, dehydrated addled state and cooked up an entire backstory with Alastor and Vox, which includes Alastor's attraction to power (and his previous attraction to Zestial), and his falling out with Vox, and why they are what they are, and Velvette was in there somewhere, but now that I'm not longer sick I only have fragments of that glorious, complex, multi-faceted, super emotionally charged relationship, and I'm pretty sure most of it spawned from this.
That's all to day, I am so so SO fucking on board with Alastor's first crush being Zestial because when I watched episode three when it aired, and saw them interact and my first thought was "I ship it."
Literally, I shipped Alastor/Zestial before StaticRadio or AppleRadio. Alestial was my first Hazbin ship 😂 So this is just dasdfjlnsaklfjna YESSSSSSSSSS
"Shut up, he needs to think I'm cool." It's okay, Alastor. Zestial thinks your the coolest. Your the most entertaining Overlord on the block. He told me himself.

edit: tagged this post as anti zutara because even though i personally don’t consider it to be an anti zutara thing, a couple people disagree so thank you to the one person who was nice enough to just ask me to do it anyway
prefacing this by saying you can like whatever ship you want so don’t come for me (edit someone immediately came for me). but one of the reasons i don’t like zutara and don’t like that it’s being alluded to in the live action is because i feel like it waters down a lot of scenes they had together that were meant to establish each others individual characters, or rather some viewers water it down. like rather than healing zuko’s scar out of the kindness of her heart, it’s because she found him attractive. rather than returning her mother’s necklace to show zuko is more honorable than he thinks, it’s because he has a crush on her. katara doesn’t save and comfort/thank zuko in the final agni kai because zuko has effectively lost most of his remaining family in one day, its because they’re deeply in love.
i’m not saying these instances and romance are mutually exclusive, but i PERSONALLY feel the scenes are more powerful without it.
it just really feels like it undermines the power of platonic love (and f/m friendships in general) and their separate journeys as characters to find their peace in order for it to be bad boy/feisty girl romance.

i want paul to continue to be, like, deeply unsettling to everyone around them just by being chill and calm and content. they give off this distinctly inhuman sense of peace. they are something with a human face that has solved the puzzle of the human condition and thus no longer quite fits in. and they don't change anymore. they're perfect. they have nowhere to go. and them being okay with that is all the more uncanny
