Oh ye of infinite wisdom. Can you tell a poor, unenlightened soul what the first horror movie ever made was?
The oldest known horror film, now lost media, is an 1896 short by Eugénie Génin titled "The True House of the Devil."
Tumblr media
With the birth of cinema came Georges Méliès, one of its first grand masters. Making dozens if not hundreds of science fiction and fantasy movies with his wife (Génin) he also made the first dark fantasy film, "The Devil's House," in 1896. However, this film is not what he and Génin originally conceived. She had originally written a far scarier movie, but Méliès considered it far too disturbing to make. He instead made his own version, similar to his more carnival exhibition style shorts of the time.
Tumblr media
But Génin was happy with her original story, and borrowed his camera each night to film her own version. What she made is a bit of a mystery. Her scripts were burned in the Great Paris Flambé Accident of 1901, and the original film was screened only once and was then immediately destroyed due to the audience's reaction.
Film historian Flynn Asterion explains, "Génin's film, according to the only survivor who saw it, depicted a house with a pit that lead to hell, or perhaps another dimension, where a demonic guide showed the true nature of God and the Devil and the universe in such specificity and accuracy that the audience went insane."
Most of the audience died instantly, became demented and ate their own eyeballs, or ran screaming into the sewer and never returned. The only remaining viewer, Jean-Regarde Quinapas Mangéses Propresyeux, is said to have survived by running naked from the screening, shouting about the end of existence, and filling his socks with horse manure. Arrested soon after for not using the proper Chaussettes d'Excréments for the act, he slowly declined in prison and was never heard from again.
Tumblr media
When Méliès learned of the disaster, he shut down all attempts at reproduction or preservation of Génin's film, and the film was lost.
Though this first horror movie was indeed so disturbing that it drove the audience mad, no movies in the 130 years since have matched its terrifying nature. There is good news however, as several viewers of Zack Snyder's upcoming "Rebel Moon" have had similar reactions, with some critics chewing off their own feet to escape the screening, despite their feet not having been restrained. Is a new master of disturbing cinema on the horizon? Only time will tell.

Here's what I think about the BG3 companions having never played BG3 and only hearing about it second hand from my friends (also I just got top surgery a few days ago and im delirious)
Halsin: He babygirl. Babygirl BEEF. Keeps getting kidnapped because he's so precious. Damsel in distress. He turns into a bear when he's really feeling fruity. (Which is most of the time)
Wyll: traumatized by his patron. Sometimes the patron is at the camp but everyone is too nervous to tell her to leave (no one wants her there).
Shadowheart: Horse hair girl. Starts feeling herself and dyes (undyes?) her hair to express herself. Mommy issues fr. I think she's a lesbian just from the sheer amount of fanart I've seen with her and La'Zeal.
La'Zeal: For some reason the only person in the party who actively wants to help you out, but is also the one complaining the loudest about helping you out. Danger. Vicious and confused. You need to roll intimidation to hold hands with her. She gets REAL into you torturing someone at some point.
Asterion: Another Babygirl fr. You need to be the worst version of yourself imaginable to get this man's approval. Talks big game but actually secretly wants to be held and be treated gently. Is really into all of the nasty stuff you do.
Gale: don't make eye contact or he WILL fall in love with you. Sad pathetic wet cardboard kitten. Scrungly. Anders round 2. Gets all in his head and hurts his own feelings CONSTANTLY.
Karlach: too good too strong too beautiful for this world. Beef CAKE. Can break down any door. Loves her squishmallow. (Could explode at any point in time though (?) )

Dangerous Adventures ( Ascended Astarion x Reader!)
A/N HERE WE GO FIRST ASTARION ONE, YALL I COOKED. Once again in here Reader is replacesby Dokusha, which stands for reader in Japanese. I'm exited for this series, I already have enough for a couple Chapters but have to edit them, originally it was a true Ox, a female one so I have to edit the names and pronouns
Dividers by @/saradika
Tumblr media
You had heard rumors from the Szarr palace that it was a mecca for vampires and that even the ascendant made the residence their home, but Dokusha did not believe their words; many people had spotted the lord of the palace walking around in plain daylight, eliminating the possibility of them being a vampire
Their kind had to be extremely careful, more so than other creatures, when it came to confronting vampires, but they still failed to worry, believing the palace to be just another adventure, with stories of vampires told by the elders just to keep them from venturing out
“Oh my, who might you be?” A saccharine voice drawls behind them
They turn around in a hurry only to come face-to-face with a white-haired elf; they wince and bow down quickly.
“Apologies, my lord.”
Astarion’s smirk grows.
“Are you lost? Servants belong in the servant quarters, my dear. What’s your name?”
“My Lord shouldn’t worry about details such as my name.”
Astarion chuckles, approaching a little closer with a wolfish look on his face.
“I don’t see why I shouldn’t know your name. Unless…” He trails off, his gaze dropping to your neck.
“Unless you don't want me to know?”
“That's not it at all, my lord!”
“Then?”
“…”
“I'm waiting, Darling.”
“D-Dokusha”
“ Dokusha…that's not the only thing you don’t want me to know, is it? Considering the amount of suppression Talismans you have in your bracelet there, pray to tell Darling, What are you?”
“I -I’m a human, my lord.”
Astarion laughs as if what you said was the funniest thing he’d heard in years.
“Oh, Darling, you’re cute…but not human. You’ve tried to disguise it, but…the smell, It’s unmistakable.”
His voice turns low and husky as he speaks.
Astarion closes the distance between the two of them and brings his face close to theirs.
“You smell like the most delicious blood I’ve ever smelled in my entire life. If you were human, you must be a special one. The scent of a deity. It drives me mad, Darling.” He glances down
“Remove the bracelet.”
“I -I’m sorry?”
His voice grows more insistent
“I asked you to remove the bracelet, Darling. Now. You have something to hide?”
“I -I‘m just quite attached to it… It umm it means a lot to me, so I really would prefer to….keep it on,” they stutter out
Without giving them a chance to react, Astarion grabs their wrist with his free hand, his nails digging in painfully
He rips the bracelet from their wrist, revealing the numerous suppression charms that littered their skin
.
They look down as the suppression and hiding talismans are removed, and their human-like appearance fades away
Their hair turning into snow-white hair
Eyes turning into bright golden eyes
Horse-like ears appearing on their head
Along twirled horn sprouting from their forehead
A long tail sprouting with a spring of hair at the end
Asterion stared in awe at the creature before them. A god-like being made flesh, with a delectable and enticing smell emanating from them. With a growl, he sweeps them up in his arms
He gazes at them hungrily as he traces his fingers against the horn atop their heads.
“Beautiful…you are like a fairy tale. How could a being so perfect ever want to hide that from me?”
“No, no, I am human!”
Astarion scoffs and grabs your shoulders.
“Come on, darling. Just stop lying to me. I know you are not; I can smell it. So what is it? A nymph, a satyr, a changeling…? Wait…is it an ancient being? Like a dryad? That would fit.”
“Human!” they keep trying to convince him
Astarion rolls his eyes, sighing.
“Human. Right. So why exactly are you covered in a dozen suppression talismans if you’re a human?”
“T-that's… the bracelet came with them?” they tried
Astarion laughs again.
“The bracelet came with them?” He puts his hands on his sides mockingly, dismissively.
“You realize how much bullshit you’re trying to feed me? You’re an ancient being covered in suppression charms and think I’ll just buy the story that ‘it's part of your bracelet’?”
“Yes?”
“Darling, what do you think I am, stupid?”
“No! I wouldn’t dare to think such a thing!”
Astarion’s eyes bore into theirs, his grip on their shoulders getting firmer.
“Let me explain something to you. I’m a vampire, and I know how suppression talismans work. You don’t get a dozen of them for being a normal, run-of-the-mill human.”
Their eyes widen
“Y-you’re a vampire?”
Astarion grins when he sees the look of shock in your eyes.
“Yes, Darling, I am a vampire. And trust me, I can smell the blood on you. I know you’re not the innocent, naive little human you’re trying to paint yourself as. So, come on…”
His voice drops to an almost hypnotic level
“We are going to the throne room; seeing as you refuse to answer, we require more convincing methods.”
“Throne room? But if you can enter that place as you please, that would mean you’re the lord of the palace?”
Astarion lets out a low chuckle, gripping your wrist once more.
“That’s me; nice to meet you, darling, im Astarion.”
“Astarion?… B- But that's….”
“That's right. I’m the one and only Vampire Ascendant, Darling. Now come.”
He pulls them towards the throne room.
“We need to have a little conversation.”
It seems the elders were actually telling the truth
Tumblr media
Any of my one piece fans reading this? You reading cause you actually like Astarion or just because? I will have more one piece out soon!

And because I'm all for the strange, unusual, alternative, less common or local variants of myths, here are most of the accounts I know of that deviate more or less strongly from the traditional version of Hesiod where all the children of Kronos except Zeus are devoured at birth and then emerge from Kronos ready to assist their brother in the war:
Diodoros of Sicily, Library of History: The island which is called Rhodes was first inhabited by the people who were known as Telchines . . . and the myth relates that they, together with Kapheira, the daughter of Okeanos, nurtured Poseidon, whom Rhea had committed as a babe to their care.
Pausanias, Description of Greece: The following story is told by the Arkadians. When Rhea had given birth to Poseidon, she laid him in a flock for him to live there with the lambs, and the spring too received its name just because the lambs pastured around it. Rhea, it is said, declared to Kronos that she had given birth to a horse, and gave him a foal to swallow instead of the child, just as later she gave him in place of Zeus a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes.
Tzetzes, Commentary on Lycophron's Alexandra 644: Arne was the nurse of the young Poseidon, who denied knowing where he was when Cronus came searching for him.
Pausanias, Description of Greece: Euboia is the name they give to the hill here, saying that Asterion the river had three daughters, Euboia, Prosymna, and Akraia, and that they were nurses of Hera.
Pausanias, Description of Greece: The story has it that in the old Stymphalos dwelt Temenos, the son of Pelasgos, and that Hera was reared by this Temenos. (also consider the traditions according to which she was raised on Samos or on Euboia, the Seasons being called her nurses in one source, or Tethys and Okeanos raising her))
Scholion on Iliad 1.609: To Kronos and Rhea were born three male children: Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, and three daughters: Hestia, Demeter and Hera. They say that in the reign of Kronos Zeus and Hera were in love for three hundred years, as Kallimachos mentions in his second Aetia, "Zeus loved [Hera] for three hundred years". In secret, they came together without their parents' knowledge and they brought forth a son, Hephaistos, both of his feet deformed, as the poet says, calling him lame. The fact that they met secretly from their parents is also attested by the Poet, saying: 'they went to bed without their dear parents’ knowledge.'.
Scholion on Iliad 14.295: Hera, while she was being nurtured by her parents, was raped by one of the Gigantes, Eurymedon, and she became pregnant and bore Prometheus.
Pseudo-Hyginus, Fabulae: When Opis gave birth to Jupiter by Saturn, Juno asked that he be given to her. Saturn had already cast Orcus beneath Tartarus and Neptune beneath the seas because he knew that if a son was born to him, he would be dethroned by him.
Lactantius, Divine Institutes: Here are Ennius' words: "Then Saturn took Ops to wife. Titan, the elder brother, demanded that kingship for himself. Vesta their mother, with their sisters Ceres and Ops, persuaded Saturn not to give way to his brother in the matter. Titan was less good-looking than Saturn; for that reason, and also because he could see his mother and sisters working to have it so, he conceded the kingship to Saturn and came to terms with him: if Saturn had a male child born to him, it would not be reared. This was done to secure reversion of the kingship to Titan's children. They then killed the first son that was born to Saturn. Next came twin children, Jupiter and Juno. Juno was given to Saturn to see while Jupiter was secretly removed and given to Vesta to be brought up without Saturn's knowledge. In the same way without Saturn knowing, Ops bore Neptune and hid him away. In her third labour Ops bore another set of twins, Pluto and Glauce. Saturn was shown his daughter Glauce but his son Pluto was hidden and removed. Glauce then died young. That is the pedigree, as written, of Jupiter and his brothers; that is how it  has been passed down to us in holy scripture.
pseudo-Clement, Recognitions: But of these six males, the one who is called Saturn received in marriage Rhea, and having been warned by a certain oracle that he who should be born of her should be more powerful than himself, and should drive him from his kingdom, he determined to devour all the sons that should be born to him. First, then, there is born to him a son called Aides, who amongst us is called Orcus; and him, for the reason we have just stated, he took and devoured. After him he begot a second son, called Neptune; and him he devoured in like manner. Last of all, he begot him whom they call Jupiter; but him his mother Rhea pitying, by stratagem withdrew from his father when he was about to devour him.
Sibylline Oracles Book 3: And they judged Cronos should reign king of all, For he was oldest and of noblest form. But Titan laid on Cronos mighty oaths To rear no male posterity, that he Himself might reign when age and fate should come To Cronos. And whenever Rhea bore Beside her sat the Titans, and all males In pieces tore, but let the females live To be reared by the mother. But When now At the third birth the august Rhea bore, She brought forth Hera first; and when they saw A female offspring, the fierce Titan men Betook them to their homes. And thereupon Rhea a male child bore, and having bound Three men of Crete by oath she quickly sent Him into Phrygia to be reared apart In secret; therefore did they name him Zeus, For he was sent away. And thus she sent Poseidon also secretly away. And Pluto, third, did Rhea yet again, Noblest of women, at Dodona bear, Whence flows Europus' river's liquid course, And with Peneus mixed pours in the sea Its water, and men call it Stygian.
Etymologicum Magnum: When he noticed that Rhea was pregnant, Kronos was getting ready to swallow the child, but, by accident the mother first bore Hera, while Zeus remained in the safety of the womb. Kronos then gave Rhea permission to raise this daughter, whom the Cretans named 'Hera', because they pronounced the word ('raise') as." ("Ἥρα·.

Stolen Moment
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just wrote this in an hour lol, don’t know what to say, but I like the vibes 😊 it reminds me of Ivy
~ 1k words
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Terrasenian Countryside, 1839
The orchard was quiet, like it always was. The silence was only punctuated by the lilting sounds of the outdoors: the birds singing in the flowering blooms, the insects buzzing around and floating in the summery breeze, that same breeze flitting through the branches of the trees, and of course the sounds of his paintbrush darting across the canvas.
There were no words that passed between him and his muse, though her blue eyes were trained on him with the whisper of a thousand hidden secrets.
Rowan Whitethorn knew they were playing with fire, but the risk made the moment that much more charged. If anyone were to discover them… for multiple reasons it would lead to either his banishment or his death.
There was no other possible consequence should anyone happen upon them. Not that there should be; they were out at his small house in the countryside, tucked back in the corner of his sprawling acreage, the hidden garden behind the fields of farmland. It was not harvest season, there’d been no need for field hands in the recent days, no one had any reason for being in the vicinity of them.
He did most of the labor himself, saving his art for the few spare moments he could manage to wrangle for himself. It was a secret he didn’t share often; only a few people knew of it. His friend and main field hand, Lorcan, who he’d served in the war with, and Lorcan’s wife Elide both knew.
The painting had started as a way of processing after the war, and Lorcan was the only one who could really understand the horrors that had driven him to this outlet. Elide worked on the farm as well, and had stumbled across his collection of paintings when delivering some of the milk from the cows one morning.
They lived together in a cabin not far from him, and Rowan considered the farm theirs too; they felt more like the true owners than him, though he’d been the one to inherit the land from his father. He didn’t want it, it wasn’t his dream, though he preferred the solitary life it provided.
He didn’t need the pains of social interaction, nor the struggle of trying to constantly pretend. He was fine being alone… or he had been. Until he met her.
Rowan’s eyes lifted from the canvas, landing on the feminine form sprawled on her side on the chaise he’d dragged out here for this purpose. Her head rested on her arms, one leg curled over the other to showcase the delicate curves clothed in a satin chemise, the neckline slipping down her shoulder to show miles of creamy skin. Her golden hair was smoothed in gentle waves, flowing down her back, and those blue eyes of hers remained trained on him.
Aelin Galathynius - Miss Aelin Galathynius - was forbidden to him. It was an idea he couldn’t even dare to foster, and yet here she was, half dressed and alone with him as he studied her form closer than likely anyone ever had.
The Galathynius family was one of the most esteemed families in all of Terrasen, not quite nobility but close to it. They were wealthy, and high ranking, and untouchable for someone like him.
But when it came to their only daughter, Rowan simply couldn’t stay away.
Their country estate wasn’t far from his land, a few miles or so, but it remained unoccupied most of the time. He’d known it belonged to them, but it wasn’t until a few seasons ago that he’d laid eyes on a member of the family. And it just so happened to be the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen.
Miss Galathynius - Aelin - had been out for a ride on her Asterion mare nearby when an unexpected storm had struck. Her horse had spooked at the crack of thunder, throwing her rider off onto the muddy ground. Rowan had been out assessing damage to the crops when he’d come across her sprawled form.
After helping her up and checking to make sure she was okay, a conversation had struck. She’d been charming, and witty, with the widest smile he’d ever seen, and he’d fallen head over heels practically immediately.
He hadn’t realized who she was.
He learned soon enough, but that didn’t stop her from continuing to reach out to him, and he didn’t have enough self control to stop himself from reaching back out to her, so here they were. He’d confessed his love of painting not long into their acquaintance, and she’d finally convinced him to let her pose for him. He couldn’t say no, no matter the consequences.
If anyone caught them right now, she’d be ruined. If anyone ever found this painting, then he’d be dead.
Because she was to be married soon. She’d told him, though she hadn’t needed to. He’d seen the ring on her finger.
He couldn’t expect anything different. She was eighteen years of age, from a distinguished family. She was sure to have offers by the plenty. Her family had just seemingly finally found the perfect one.
At twenty one, Rowan knew he was likely closer in age to her than several of those offers, but he knew he would never have even been considered. A few decades ago, he’d be beheaded for even daring to put forward his proposal.
His heart ached as he dragged his paintbrush along the canvas, smoothing out the perfect curve of her hip, and the dip of her waist where his hand so perfectly fit. They hadn’t done anything, had never even kissed.
If Aelin were to be discovered as anything but a virgin on her wedding night, then Hellas would rain down on them both.
So Rowan ignored the aching in his chest and the urges of his hands and just enjoyed the stolen moment the best he could. This was leading to ruin, and they both knew it.
But he would savor whatever little piece of her he could get.

No. You would not have guessed he's the son of Poseidon right away. The only thing the bathroom scene did was restrict the "who?" to either liquid gods or water gods.
The following were taken from a Wikipedia article (here, January 1rst 2024, Part: Europe - Greek/Greece)
Achelus, greek river god
Aegaeon, god of violent sea storms and ally of the Titans.
Alpheus, river god in Arcadia
Anapus, river god of eastern Sicily
Asopus, river god in Greece
Asterion, river-god of Argos
Enipeus, a river god
Glaucus, the fisherman's sea god
The Graeae, three ancient sea spirits who personified the white foam of the sea; they shared one eye and one tooth between them.
The Ichthyocentaurs, a pair of centaurine sea-gods with the upper bodies of men, the lower fore-parts of horses, ending in the serpentine tails of fish.
Oceanus, Titan god of the Earth-encircling river Okeanos, the font of all the Earth's fresh water.
Palaemon, a young sea god who aided sailors in distress.
Pontus, primeval god of the sea, father of the fish and other sea creatures

Do you know anything about BG3? If so (or you've never heard of it/know nothing) tell me and I can send a different one!
ok bg3 is a REALLY fun one because i feel like i am in such a sweet spot between "knowing a lot" and "knowing absolutely nothing"
things i have osmosed from my dash:
there is a guy called asterion. he is hot. he is a vampire. he is perhaps a bit silly or whimsical. he likes violence. good voice acting
there is a woman called karlech. she is hot. i think she pegs you
i know there's wyll (who gets shipped with asterion? or maybe that's just this one person i follow) and also lae'zel (am i spelling the name right)
you can fuck a bear (except it's like, a shapeshifted person, but yknow)
there's lots of sex in general actually
i've only seen like one video of the gameplay but i think it's like a party-based rpg. which makes sense because. dnd
there are mushroom guys! :)
things i know about the game because one of my professors, a 60+ yr old man who teaches about ancient christianity, decided to infodump about it to me from halfway across a crowded room (i heard about a third of what he said):
there are multiple endings/routes, and they are really different from each other, and which route you go down depends on what moral decisions you make
there's an especially cool/interesting route that my professor wants to do but he's hesitant because it involves a lot of cruelty and murder
a single playthrough can take like 200+ hours? crazy.. (<--- guy who mostly plays like 10-50 hour games)
he said that the third act of the story is weak. who knows why
i've also had multiple dreams about playing bg3 for some fucking reason, so, here is what i have learned from those dreams:
there are lots of horses
there is a high-stakes racing game section through a large wood
you can also be a spectator to the racing game and throw apples at the racers
there's a cult with eldritch monsters
there's a cool spooky cathedral

Finally managed to make a reference sheet for Astrid! I feel really bad that it's taken me so long to make her a reference sheet since I created her a little while after Cobalt, though to be fair I'm not very good at drawing horses and deer and since she's basically a combination of the two you can see why it took a while to draw her a reference sheet. Anyway I'm glad she's got one now which rounds out the main trio's character sheets.
Some notes on Astrid's character:
Astrid is the biological daughter of Asterion, who takes in Cobalt after he gets seperated from his flock. This basically makes them adoptive siblings in a way despite not being from the same species. They both develop a brother and sister bond which carries into their adulthoods.
Astrid is a sweet, and caring girl though has a tendancy to get very cautious and anxious in places and with people that she is not familiar with, however when she's with her friends and family she's a more confident individual but will learn that she needs to be able to be confident on her own.
Ash takes a linking to her when he offers to guide her and Cobalt back home, she sort of becomes his big sister as both she and Cobalt are older than Ash. This gives her a more protective streak.
She doesn't see her dad often as he is usually out on patrol, and is more often spending time with her mother, older sister, Cobalt, and Vali (who she fondly refers to as her auntie).
Family:  Father: Asterion Mother: Frida Sister: Dagmar Brother: Cobalt (Adoptive)
Head Canon Voice: Rosalie Craig
As stated in previous Galatea character reference sheet's this isn't set in stone as I am still developing the story and characters so do expect things to change as I continue to write and draw more of my characters.
Hope you all enjoy my gal! I can't wait to write more about her, and the boys.

More Twisted Wonderland OC stuff because I have autism and hyperfixate on my characters
Don't read below the cut if that isn't your cup of tea
☆Fóvos(Fóv) Timeo☆
•Pónos is technically an NPC I made for him oopsie
•He's incredibly asocial to the point that he uploads online and never talks to anyone. Ever. He's the type to be your friend on discord and then go offline or DND forever
•He loves sweet things! Almond cookies are his favorite
•He lives with his father and grandmother and has 2 older brothers(24 and 19 respectively)
•(In our world terms)He's half pakistani/half british(on his mother's side) but because of how he was raised he knows bare minimum about his father's culture and asking his grandmother(who isn't the most talkative and only knows a bit of English) is a dead end
•Back to the Twisted Wonderland, his grandmother is from the Scalding sands and moved to the Queendom in her youth. Her son and grandkids have only been raised(in turn) knowing the Queendoms culture firsthand
• His father is a very busy man who works long days. Fóv was basically raised by his brothers
•His species is classified as "imp"! He's good with extreme temperatures aswell as having a tail(or wings, but his variant has a tail-)
☆Rí Mallaichte☆
•Rí is a cursed beastman! What the curse entails is complex and paradoxical but he is, in essence, unable to die
•He has done terrible things during his long immortal past that he(luckily) never has to discuss.
•He's the last of his clan, aswell as of his time.(for clarity, Lilia is older and therefore from a different time)
☆Blanche Lock☆
•Despite his past as a warrior, he's developed quiet a laissez-faire attitude. Though he's very willing to play guard-dog when needed.
•An absolute menace to beastmen. He has no fear of animals or beastmen.
•This is mostly due to both his mothers being bear beastmen. They're nice, so therefore all animals and beastmen are yeah?
•Despite his scrawny stature he can more than hold his own in a fight(lots of hair pulling and biting)
•He loves bears! If scary, why friendshaped?
☆Oggy Bogh☆
•Entomology enthusiast
•He's a super senior, at first getting held back so he wouldn't have to go home as quickly, but eventually he just stopped caring in classes.
•Has an incredibly strained relationship with his parents, though he will go back to see his younger siblings, Zap(13), Creak(10) and Boo(6)
•He isn't a big fan of games, but he is a big fan of winning. It's a real pickle.
☆Arvik Byrd☆
•Very stoic and not that talkative-
•Wonderful singing voice, terrible stage fright.
•Arvik has a fear of large flighted birds. If it can fly it shouldn't be the size of your cat.
•He overheats very easily due to being from the Frigid Northern sea, aswell as having blubber meant to store heat- it doesn't add together well on land
☆Delona Quinkana☆
•His family is fabulously wealthy, though Delona has no idea how they got it and rarely spends money
•The pocketwatch he carries around has been in his family for 6 generations! It's always 3 hours behind.
•He's accidentally become a bit of a kleptomaniac because of his signature spell needing a physical aspect.
•Him, Arvik and Kahle Gadus(my partner's oc) are in a poly relationship!
•Speaking of Kahle, they've been friends since childhood! He's the only person Kahle can track consistently..because he accidentally ate his prosthetic once when they were kids don't worry about it
•Like a crocodile he has insane lower jaw strength
•He can also jump 4 feet(roughly), he is not part of the Basketball club
•He's also pretty fast from running away from his responsibilities
☆Asterion☆
•No lastname, there aren't enough Asterion's to mistake him for
•He/They pronouns mostly, but gender is a construct
•Astarion is just a little baby, he's only 205
•(in game mechanics) his void magic is white!
•He's about 17 hands high(5'7")
•He's in Track and Field club! He'd be in Equestrian but the concept of riding horses just...felt weird to him. He'd gladly care for them but-
•Showers before heading back to Pomefiore, he'd hate to be walking around all sweaty and gross while sporting his dorm's colors, what would that say about Pomefiore?
•Can't touch iron, much like traditional fae it burns him

Headcanons you sent
@rhubarbss She grew up in a small fishing community, she didn’t grow up on a farm but she did deff help around with various odd jobs including nearby farms.
Pierce has a very…utilitarian view in animals. I could see in some alternate universe Pierce being really into cattle or horses, but as is Asterion and Pegifer are enough to deal with heh.
In the future she and Debbie end up with chickens.
@apbeezah Pierce could chew on a coin like a piece of bubblegum
@apologeticsmartass Rector would 100% undeniably be really into crypto/NFT stuff
I don’t think he would intentionally plan a rug pull from the starts but if for whatever reason his project wasn’t working or got really pissed one day and just ends up making the slip.

The other card that represents the crew of the Asterion and her damned fate, to go along with the Chariot!
Don't ask how the background happened its too nice
Colourful version and rambling under the cut
Tumblr media
The Chariot and Death both equally represent the Asterion, but these three are slightly more Death-y than the others - and this is Death as endings and transformation, or reversed as sleep and hopes destroyed, with the original card depicting Death on a pale horse stepping over the rich, the royal, the sick and the poor
The design of the card is a little more abstracted from the original Death card, was originally going to stick Thorne (the marine) on top of a cannon or have all three of them face down a giant wolf but Laelaps deserves his own card and also it got a little squish
The Lieutenant of Marines aiming at a wolf in the distance and focusing on nothing but his duty, the surgeon with a sailor fading into rain and the boatswain nursing a deep bitterness, all caught up in a very sudden fate that they really should have seen coming.
but also seriously im not sure how the background got that pretty

I’m up to The Assassin and the Desert in my Assassin’s Blade reread and maybe its just my childhood obsessions with Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron but the chapter where Celaena and Ansel steal the Asterion horses is one of the greatest things I’ve ever read its literally so entrancing and I’ve never wanted to experience something more but I can also already feel it perfectly through Celaena’s perspective.

“Despite Homer’s Panhellenizing tendencies, he recognizes Hera’s regional character as goddess of the Argive peninsula, giving her the epithet Hera Argeia (e.g. Il. 4.8). In historical times she became the city-goddess of Argos itself, and her Argive sanctuary was the most venerable and famed center of her worship. Her festival there, known as the Heraia or Hekatombaia (Sacrifice of one hundred Oxen), was held in the first month of the year. A grand procession escorted the priestess, who rode in an ox-drawn wagon from the city to the sanctuary several miles distant. The youth recognized as most virtuous carried a sacred shield in the procession, marking his and his age-mates’ transition to adulthood and warrior status. After the procession, there were athletic competitions for which the prize was, again, a bronze shield. Hera’s cult at Argos shows a preoccupation with two aspects of the Argolid’s prosperity: the herds of cattle on which its wealth was based, and its military might. Terracotta figurines from the Heraion indicate that Hera was also viewed as a kourotrophic deity, one who nourished and protected the young. Often she is shown holding a child in her lap. Sometimes she holds not a child but a horse, an emblem of aristocratic privilege. Hera’s cult seems to have been closely bound up with the efforts of the early Archaic Argives to define their relationship with the heroic past.
The Argive Heraion was constructed over the remains of a Mycenaean settlement, but there is no clear evidence of continuity of cult from the Bronze Age to the ninth century, when activity at the Heraion becomes archaeologically visible. Around 700, a terrace was built using huge “Cyclopean” blocks in imitation of the Bronze Age architectural style, and shortly thereafter a temple of stone and wood with a colonnade was added. This Archaic structure was not superseded by a newer temple until the fifth century, when the sanctuary was transformed from a rallying center for the towns in the region to a symbol of the power of Argos, by then the dominant city. . . . It possessed sculptures depicting not myths of Hera herself, but subjects of interest to the Argives: the birth of Zeus, the battle of the gods and giants, the Trojan war, and the saga of Orestes. In Pausanias’ time, one entered the temple after walking through a series of statues of the former priestesses (styled kleidouchoi or Keyholders), whose tenures provided a chronological framework for the city’s history. The list of priestesses was already ancient in the fifth century, when Hellanicus (FGrH4 F 74–82) used it as the basis for an account of the Greeks from the Trojan war to his own day.
The cult image of the Classical period was a famous one by Polykleitos, fashioned of gold and ivory over a wood core. The seated goddess held a scepter and a pomegranate, symbols of temporal power and fertility. A more ancient wooden image must have existed, but presumably was destroyed when the Archaic temple burned in 423/2. When Pausanias (2.17.3) visited the temple, he saw a venerable image of pearwood taken from nearby Tiryns, another ancient Heraian cult center, which the Argives had installed on a pillar beside Polykleitos’ statue. The pillar itself may have held special significance, for a fragment of the Argive epic Phoronis (fr. 3 Davies, EGF) describes Hera’s priestess adorning “the high column of the Olympian queen, Hera Argeia” with fillets and tassels. Another item of interest in the temple was the “couch of Hera,” a symbol of Hera’s status as the bride of Zeus.
The Asterion river near the Heraion was regarded as the father of Hera’s three nurses, the nymphs Akraia, Prosymna and Euboia, who were named after features of the sanctuary’s topography. Local tradition, therefore, held that Argos was Hera’s birthplace. Women conducted secret rituals at the Heraion, involving purifications, sacrifices, and the offering of garlands twined from a local herb also called asterion. The women wove a robe for Hera, as they did at Olympia, first taking a ritual bath in the waters of the spring or well called Amymone. The hundreds of miniature water vessels (hudriai) from the excavations further attest the importance of water in these activities. Perhaps the ritual involved a bath for Hera’s image; a legend describing how Hera took an annual bath to restore her virginity was attached to the spring Kanathos in nearby Nauplia. The “water of freedom” of the stream Eleutherion, near the Heraion, was used for the women’s secret rites, and was also drunk by slaves and prisoners about to be emancipated.”

Be Not Humbled In Your Pride
You are not one thing entire, but a whole vast continent at once. Daughter of the sun, bride of the sea, know yourself immortal and unending, a mere sojourner in this world of flesh and of desires.
They will break you. That is what it is to be in the world: to break a little more each day, to crumble slowly toward that dark soil that is flesh's true inheritor. Be afraid, be brave: they will tell truths about you, monstrous truths. Know yourself untouchable, forever saved, forever clean and unforgivable. You are above everything, still riding proudly behind the horses of the sun, even bent beneath the ocean's back; you shall be cursed with double-vision.
Desire, they will call it; animal lust. You who were born to be a god they will rope and ride like any other cattle. What do they know of fertility, of the colossal acts of love that churns mud into men and trees into women? Whose rich seed overflows its banks and returns the fields to life? Your children will be monsters and fratricides, as they must, as they are needed.
Pasiphae: daughter, queen, bride, mother, judge. You were born to suffer, as were we all, but created to endure.

physical headcanons
as previously mentioned, asterion is red-green color blind due to the structure of his eyes. however his depth perception and range of vision is much better than that of a bull. his hearing and sense of smell are also much more powerful than a human’s are.
he stands 7 feet tall (213cm) at head-height. his horns, which are lyre shaped, add an additional foot of height to his overall appearance.
his spine is longer due to his tail, which includes a full set of coccygeal vertebrae and is roughly 48 inches (123cm) long.
he’s got numerous small scars, particularly on his arms, legs, and chest. some of these are from the early days of stumbling around in the dark labyrinth and scraping against the walls and floor. the ones on his chest and a few on his arms were mostly self-inflicted over the course of his imprisonment due to his mental state and the severity of his starvation and isolation.
there is a singular large scar on the right side of his neck where theseus tried to kill him with a short sword. the fur there never grew back so the mark is always visible.
the fur of his head, neck, and tail (save for the black tuft of fur at the end) are entirely white. though the fur of his neck begins to transition to skin between his pectorals and his shoulder blades, he still has a thick strip of fur running from his chest to below his navel, and down the length of his spine to his tail. his body hair is also almost white despite his olive skin tone. his eyes and nose are black.
he does have a full set of teeth including incisors, canines, premolars, and molars. however unlike a cow, which only has lower incisors and an upper fat pad with absolutely no canine teeth, his teeth are arranged much more like those of a horse. (see this image for a comparison between the two.)
because of his nature as a hybrid and because his existence only happened through divine intervention, asterion is infertile and incapable of siring offspring of any kind.
