if the creators of the g3 series were smart they'd have frankie discovering they're autistic because they are so strongly coded as such. and they'd have them have a bonding moment with twyla where she teaches frankie what she knows about autism and what it's like for her to be autistic. and then they talk about their similarities but also their differences! because frankie and twyla are both very different and it would be a good way to show how autism is a spectrum.

Okay before I was just annoyed but now I’m just PISSED

I had a sneaking suspicion they were purposely portraying Twyla more childish/infantile. Which you know. IS A HORRIBLE FUCKINB STEREOTYPE AND BOX AUTISTIC PEOPLE ARE CONSTANTLY SHOVED AND REPRESSED AS.

Before I didn’t have proof. Just their design choices and the fact Twyla’s voice actor Kayla naturally has a deeper voice then what she portrays her as.

but what the FUCK is this?! Wanted to make her sound more ‘Adorable. High pitched. Child like’. What in the rainbow sprinkle fucking unicorns is that?! Tell me WHAT study told them to portray the only autistic character as childlike?! Tell me WHO THE FUCK thought purposely portraying the only character who says their autistic and repeatedly is on tv as more childlike and ‘adorable’ would make a positive impact for the autistic community?!

this is literally GIVINB IN to stereotypes! This shit confirms all the other shit we’ve been trying to fight for YEARS. That we are full fledged adults! We shall not be babied! We are not childlike by being autistic! We can be bad ass rough tough people who ARENT all addicted to history! (No offense to autistic history lovers. But legitimately every single cartoon autistic character I’ve seen has their special interest be history and I’m fucking TIRED of them only giving us one thing to love/one theme aka being a nerd) like WHAT. NO WAIT NOW I'M GETTING UPSET BECAUSE-

frankie is so much like me in so many ways now that i'm thinking about it and it's not even funny. if they made them to be canon autistic in the g3 series obviously i would be so happy to have the representation and for it to be available to a young audience, but at the same time i would be so upset and pissed at not having them as an example of autism when i was younger!

if frankie was written the way they are now while also being explicitly stated as autistic it probably would have helped me figure out i was autistic so much sooner. i know i would have picked up on the similarities between me and them, but even more so i think my parents would have too and they could have considered seeking a diagnosis for me.

like yes i am aware and trust me i do acknowledge how the representation in the new series comes off as performative and that there is some problems to it. but i still will forever be upset that this wasn't available when i was younger despite how happy i am for kids now to be exposed to the diversity they do choose to show
