He would have stayed there forever, if he could. This was how it was always supposed to be: the two of them together, united by something stronger than blood — stronger than magic. Adrien knew he was stalling, crushed by the enormity of the truth. He just needed a few seconds more. “I think your father has the Peacock Miraculous,” he finally whispered. “And I’m going to take it back.”

Miraculous AU - Chapter 15 - Under My Wing
Beginning || Previous || Next
Nathalie knocked on Adrien’s door. She waited a minute, then knocked again.
            “Adrien, I’m coming in.”
Nathalie entered Adrien’s room. She furrowed her brow when she saw he was still in bed. She placed his clothes down and pulled out a whistle. She blew it and startled Adrien and Plagg from their sleep.
“Hey, what was that for?” Plagg yelled.
“That was your wake-up for sleeping through your alarm.”
Adrien sat up. “I’m sorry, Nathalie. I don’t know how I slept through it.”
“Oh, I turned that off,” Plagg said.
            “What? Why?” Adrien asked.
            “Does it matter now?”
Adrien sighed and fell back onto his bed.
“Don’t fall back asleep. Your father is expecting you this morning.”
Adrien groaned. “Do I have to? I feel awful.”
“Neither of us get to make those decisions, Adrien. Besides, you’re scheduled to spend the entire morning with your father. Once the morning has concluded, there will be photographers arriving to take photos of your father’s new line with you as the model.”
Panic seized Adrien and he sat back up. “That’s today?”
“Yes. That will be your day until dinner. After which you’ll head to bed. Which, I’d advise that you skip your nightly meeting with Ladybug.”
Plagg laughed. “Adrien wouldn’t dare miss that. It’s a chance to hang out with his Marinette.”
Adrien grabbed Plagg and covered him up. “Ignore him. He’s just, uh, joking.”
Plagg phased through Adrien’s hands. “I am. Mostly.”
Nathalie raised a brow. “Who’s Marinette?”
            “Nobody. And she’s not Ladybug.”
“Are you kidding? Of course, she is.” Plagg grabbed Adrien’s phone from the charger and handed it to Nathalie. “Take a look.”
Nathalie unlocked Adrien’s phone and saw the photo she took of Adrien with Chloe and the baker’s girl. “I see. I was wondering who she was.”
Plagg snatched the phone back. “That’s all? Nothing? Not even running off to tell the father?”
“I am not Adrien’s father nor mother, merely the babysitter. That said, I recognize that Adrien is at the age he’ll be exploring the world, which includes budding feelings for people of the opposite and possibly the same gender. However, I do believe that he should tell his father if he wishes to explore his feelings in a healthy manner.”
“I can’t tell him about this.”
“I know he’s very particular about who you associate with, but it may help if you did tell him. Especially if you’re thinking about dating others your age.”
Adrien looked at Nathalie. “That’s only one of the reasons. I’m sure you know the other, don’t you?”
            Nathalie paused. “I do.”
“Then, it was you, wasn’t it?”
Nathalie smiled. “It was and it wasn’t. But that will be a conversation for later.”
            “When later?”
“Tonight, maybe. There is a lot to discuss, but that’ll have to wait until your father has retired for the night. Now, get ready. Your father will be waiting in the garden.”
Nathalie left. Adrien rolled out of bed and got ready. He headed out to the garden where Gabriel waited next to a table with breakfast on it. Gabriel turned and gasped when he saw Adrien.
“Adrien, what happened? Why do you look like this? Did you not get any sleep? I have you on a schedule for a reason.”
“I know, Father. I just had a difficult time falling asleep last night.”
            “Why?”
Adrien looked down as he thought of an excuse. He thought back to yesterday when Nathalie mentioned what she told his father. “I kept thinking about the storm. I was afraid of another one coming out of nowhere like the one yesterday.”
Gabriel sighed and put a hand on Adrien’s shoulder. “You don’t need to worry about that, Adrien. I’m sure a monster like that won’t appear again. If one did, remember, you’re safe here away from that madness.”
            “That storm was another attack?”
“Yes. From what I’ve seen, it was the losing contestant of the KIDZ+ weather girl competition. They found her ranting and screaming atop the news station and have taken her into custody.”
“How could she have made such a storm?”
“That’s not for you to worry about. There are other things we need to discuss.” Gabriel moved and sat at the table.
Adrien sat down. “What needs to be discussed, Father?”
“Some time in the evening after the attack, I had received a call from the school. They informed me that they would be closing the schools and switching the students to online classes for the year. With this change, I’ve decided to keep you enrolled.”
“Does this mean Nathalie will go back to being your PA if she doesn’t have to tutor me?”
“No. I’ve already started to look for a new one while she takes over caring for you and the house.”
Frustration gnawed at Adrien. “Father, I don’t need to be babysat if I’m stuck here. What’s even the point?”
“I have my reasons, Adrien. You are still young, and I won’t take any chances with your safety. Do you understand?”
Adrien took a deep breath. “Yes, Father.”
“Good. The classes will begin in a few days. Providing everything goes as planned today, I’ll permit you to have those couple of days off. Understand?”
“Wouldn’t it be better to wait? I don’t look or feel good enough, Father.”
“Nonsense. You just need to eat. I’ll also have makeup come early to work on fixing you up. Whatever they can’t fix I’ll have modified digitally.”
            Adrien’s eye twitched. “Yes, Father.”
Adrien finished breakfast and went through the day on autopilot as he fought back the frustration. He spent the rest of the morning with Gabriel, who talked only about the business. Makeup arrived early and got to work on him immediately. Once they did what they could, he met with the photographers. From there, he spent the rest of the day modeling the different outfits Gabriel had prepared. He finished his day with dinner with Gabriel, then headed up to his room. He collapsed onto his bed and let out a long sigh.
Plagg peeked out from the nightstand. “Long day?”
            Adrien nodded.
“Well, nothing that a cat nap won’t solve.”
“No way. Nathalie said she’d talk with me once Father goes to bed. Then I’m going to see Ladybug and maybe Queen Bee.”
“I’m sure you can miss one night, can’t you?”
“I don’t want to. It’s the only time I get to hang out with the friends I have.”
“Look, who needs friends? They are always so pushy and demanding, wanting you to be there for them all the time. It’s just really tiring. What’s important is relaxation and being alone to do so.”
“That may work for you, Plagg, but not me. I want friends to chase away the loneliness. To feel loved and wanted by someone in any way. I’m tired of everything here in this house. The schedules, the modeling, being surrounded by people who only see Adrien who doesn’t even exist. He's just a doll. The perfect face for a designer to use. A replacement for the one he lost.”
Plagg sat on Adrien’s shoulder. “I’m listening. Let it all out.”
“I just don’t feel happy or wanted for more than what I am. Father seems to care, but only to a point. When it comes to me, it’s like I’m just here to be the replacement for Mother, who he loved so much more. He probably didn’t realize I existed until she died.”
“And you believe your mother was no better, right? At least, that’s what I got from last night.”
“I barely remember her. The only memories I have of her are when she was with Father. They always looked so happy, but they never seemed to notice me. When they did, they always had pushed me to Nathalie. Like they couldn’t be bothered to deal with me.”
“Wait. Was Nathalie your nanny even when you were young?”
“More or less. I don’t know the full story behind Nathalie and my parents, I just know Mother always had her around to watch me. Mother even had Nathalie move in just so she was always around. But, when Mother died, Father kicked Nathalie out and I didn’t see her for another three years. At least until he hired her as his PA.”
“She really was more of a mother than your blood mother, wasn’t she?”
“She was. She did keep me at arm’s length, but everything I learned was from her. My best memories include her. And, of all my parents, she’s the one I remember the most.”
“Sounds like you’ve got one person in this house that cares about you. Well, along with me, of course. But that should go without saying.”
“I hope so. It’s hard to tell sometimes with how stoic she is, but I want to believe she cares about me. I guess we’ll find out when I talk with her. Hopefully.”
Plagg fell silent. He looked to the door, then transformed into a normal cat. He purred loudly as he laid on Adrien’s chest. Adrien blinked, then smiled as he hugged Plagg. Adrien sighed and listened to Plagg’s purr until he fell asleep.
~~
Nathalie walked up to Adrien’s room. She checked the time once again: 10:00PM. She knocked on his door but didn’t hear anything. She waited a minute before she knocked again, then entered. She saw Adrien passed out with a black cat curled up on his chest.
            “Should I wake them?”
Duusu peeked out from Nathalie’s jacket. “You do need to talk with him. Maybe just don’t use the whistle.”
Nathalie nodded. She knelt on the bed and paused. She hesitated as she held her hand out. She shook her head and stepped back. She reached for the whistle, but Duusu stopped her.
“Just wake him up. It’s ok.”
            “I can’t. I-.”
“Nathalie, who cares about what was said in the past? That woman isn’t around, and you don’t have to worry about her rules.”
            “But Gabriel-.”
“Won’t know. Now, either wake Adrien up or I wake up the cat.”
Nathalie gulped. She reached out again as memories bubbled to the surface. Emilie had confronted her when Adrien had referred to her as his mother. Emilie reminded her that she wasn’t his mother, and only the sitter for when they weren’t able to care for Adrien. That she wasn’t ever supposed to be close to him and to always keep her distance.
Nathalie shook her head as more memories threatened to surface. “I can’t. Just wake him and have him meet me in the garden.” She left and headed out.
Duusu sighed and flew in front of Plagg. He batted at Plagg’s nose until he woke up.
            “Boo.”
Plagg yowled and jumped up. Adrien startled and sat up. He sent Plagg tumbling off the bed.
            “Plagg? Are you okay?”
Plagg transformed back and flew up. “Duusu! What are you doing here? Where is your holder?”
            “Duusu?”
Duusu bowed. “Pleasure to meet you at long last, Adrien.”
“Don’t ignore me and answer my questions!” Plagg yowled.
“You want answers you miserable cat, go to the garden with Adrien. Toodles.” Duusu flew through the walls towards the garden.
            “C’mon!” Plagg flew after Duusu.
Adrien ran out to the garden where Nathalie stood as she stared at the statue of Emilie. As he approached her, Duusu and Plagg flew by as they tumbled around in the air.
            “Nathalie? Are you ok?”
Nathalie opened her mouth, then shut it. “Duusu, spread my feathers.”
Duusu was ripped away from Plagg and disappeared into the brooch. Adrien and Plagg watched as Nathalie transformed into Mayura.
“Your nanny is the holder of the peacock?” Plagg yowled.
“Didn’t you recognize her last night?”
            “No. How did you?”
            “I’d recognize her anywhere.”
“But why didn’t you tell me? You know the peacock is dangerous.”
Adrien and Plagg argued, but Mayura ignored them. She hugged herself as she fought the tidal wave of memories. She fell to her knees as she tried to stuff it all away again. All the memories of her life and the emotions that came with them. From the hollowness of her youth to the endless struggle to set things right, only to fall back down until she just accepted her lot in life.
“What could she possibly want that’s good? She’ll likely betray you in the end. That’s all the peacock holders are good for.” Plagg’s remarked pulled Mayura from her battle.
“The person I’m betraying this night is Papillon.”
            “Papillon?”
Mayura took a shaky breath as she stood. “That is your opponent, Adrien. The man who is creating these monsters.”
“Do you know him? Have you seen him?”
Mayura turned to face Adrien. “I haven’t, but Gabriel has thrown his lot in with Papillon.”
            “What? Why?”
Mayura looked at Emilie’s statue. “What else? To have his other half back.”
“But that’s impossible. She’s gone, dead.”
Mayura looked at Adrien, then Plagg. “Papillon has promised Gabriel a miracle above all others. A miracle only granted by the greatest of the kwamis.”
Plagg’s ears twitched. “You’re lying. There’s no way any human would know about this.”
“But a kwami would. And weren’t you missing one?”
            “Plagg, what’s she talking about?”
Plagg grimaced. “Well, uh, you see. Sugarcube and I are the greatest of kwamis. Y’know, creation and destruction. So, being such a basic, but fundamental part of existence, there’s a lot that can be done with the Miraculous. I mean, whatever is destroyed can be remade into anything.”
“But not just anything. Miracles require a specific price.”
            “How do you mean?”
“C’mon, Adrien, don’t worry about that. How you use the Miraculous is perfectly acceptable and doesn’t cause any problems.”
            Adrien looked at Mayura.
“Your partner would benefit more from this, but whatever you intend to create, something of equal value needs to be destroyed to fuel creation. Such as destroying debris and buildings to rebuild them.”
“So, if Father wants Mother back from the grave, would someone have to pay that price?”
            Mayura nodded.
            Adrien’s eyes widened in horror.
“Don’t worry, Adrien. Your father won’t get his wish so long as you and Ladybug are around. We’ll find and defeat him before long and not have to worry about this.”
Mayura snorted and fanned herself. “If you say so.”
“I do. I mean, the past butterfly users weren’t that troublesome. I mean, enough for us to get involved, but at least they weren’t like the peacock holders.”
Mayura snapped her fan shut. “I am not like the others. That’s why I’m here now, sharing all this. I want to help.”
“Yeah, right. And I’m the kwami of creation.”
“Nathalie, er, Mayura, why do you want to help?”
Mayura looked back at Emilie. “I thought I was doing it for her. I did promise your mother I would look after you, keep you safe and ensure you would be happy. But, I’m starting to think that it’s because I see so much of myself in you, Adrien.”
            “What do you mean?”
“Our upbringings were similar, though different. The rules, schedules, your life planned out without your consent, and you’re just expected to go along with it. You’re no one except what they expect you to be. For me, I was expected to become a politician, with years of study and practice. I was set to attend university, marry the man they picked for me, and begin a life of politics like they wanted.”
            “What changed?”
“Love. I fell in love with the most beautiful woman I ever met. She set my world ablaze and filled my world with color and sound. Because of her, I felt alive for the first time since ever. Unfortunately, she never felt the same way. She couldn’t as her heart could never be won by a woman. Nonetheless, my parents found out and shut me out. All I had left was her. I don’t know her reasons, but she kept me around. Maybe she cared, maybe she was just using me, or she just pitied me, I don’t know.”
            “Do you resent her?”
Mayura blinked. She stared at Emilie’s twisted form and smiled. “No. I may have burnt my world to the ground for her, lost everything in the chase, but she brought me the greatest joys of my life. For that, I cannot hate her. It’s why I wish to help you. So, you may have the opportunities I didn’t and so you won’t be alone.”
“But I’m not alone. I have Ladybug and Queen Bee.”
“I know, but sometimes you need more than just friends to stand beside you. It’s why I’ve decided to train you, to help you grow stronger.”
            “Really?”
“Yes. Papillon is a threat not to be taken lightly. However, there will be others that will show up and side with him as Gabriel has. I know you have Plagg and Ladybug, but I am here as well to assist you. To help you grow as a person and a hero if you want it.”
“Yes! What about for the others? Would you help them too?”
“I would. Paris will need you all and it’ll be a difficult road ahead of all of us.”
            Adrien hugged Mayura. “Thank you.”
Mayura hesitated, then hugged Adrien back. “It’s nothing, Adrien. You will need people on your side through this, and I’ll be one of them.”
Adrien smiled and stepped back. “So, when do we start?”
“Another night. I’ve got some errands to run before it gets too late. So, the night is yours.”
“Would you be upset if I went to see Ladybug and Queen Bee?”
“Not at all. And I know you’re confused about your feelings for Marinette and Ladybug, but just let things develop naturally. You’ll see in time if you want to take things further.”
“I know you said to talk to Father about them, but could I share them with you instead? I don’t think he’d understand.”
“I don’t think he would either, but that would also boil down to a single question. Will you pursue your interests as Adrien Agreste or Chat Noir?”
“Probably as Chat. I feel more of a person as Chat than I do as Adrien.”
“Then you may talk with me about them. However, if you intend to pursue any interests as Adrien, you will need to talk with Gabriel. Understand?”
            “I do.”
            “Good. Now, enjoy the night.”
            Adrien nodded. “Plagg, claws out.”
Plagg vanished into the ring and transformed Adrien into Chat Noir. Chat waved as he jumped over the fence into the night. Mayura smiled as she watched him go.
            “Duusu, fall my feathers.”
Duusu reappeared as Mayura transformed back.
“Would you get my fanny pack? I need a moment.”
Duusu nodded and flew into the house.
Nathalie sighed and looked back at Emilie’s statue. The statue’s beauty restored, but she felt a new kind of sorrow rise within her. She fought back against it and the memories of Emilie that threatened to surface. She wasn’t sure who or what Emilie was, but that didn’t matter anymore, did it? Whoever Emilie was, was gone. Whatever Emilie’s motives or nature was, didn’t matter. She needed to be there for the people who were here. She needed to look towards her future.
Tonight, Nathalie would take a step towards her future. She’d leave her past to rest and stop living for the sake of others. In this step forward, she’d stand in Papillon’s way and help the kid heroes to reach their true potential. Watch over Adrien, not for a dead promise, but for the boy she helped raised. With Duusu at her side, she’d accomplish this as Nathalie and Mayura.
“Got the pack, Precious.” Duusu hovered beside Nathalie with the fanny pack in hand.
Nathalie took the pack. “Thank you. You ready?”
            “Always. Let’s go!”
            “Duusu, spread my feathers.”
Duusu smiled as he vanished into the brooch and transformed Nathalie.
Mayura put the pack on and headed out into the night.

Triplet Dupain Cheng AU
Post 2: Marinette Herself
The star of the original show herself. Obviously being an AU, Marinette is going to be different. How so from canon you may ask. Well, here it is:
Marinette's Similarities To Canon
Much like canon, Marinette is still a sweet, outgoing & joyful girl who's honest, kind, fair, & pure hearted.
She's still very much helpful to anyone & does her best to help in most scenarios.
Marinette is also still a very quick lesson & mistake learner.
She unfortunately still struggles with self-confidence & acts impulsively.
She's also still quite the klutz & still panics a lot.
She still loves fashion, Adrien & baking.
She's also still Ladybug with much of the same traits.
However that's where the similarities end.
Marinette's Changes From Canon
You want to talk about affectionate? This girl is one of the most affectionate people you'll ever meet. Warm hugs, friendly kisses, pats on head/back/shoulder, or even light friendly tackle. Marinette will make sure you won't go a day sad & mopey.
Her self-esteem is much better here as she's more confident in her abilities as a person & fashion designer.
Speaking of fashion, Marinette excels much more in this department. She's very efficient in designing & creating her clothes line & almost all of her clothes are made by her. Suffice to say that she's made many people's heads turn. I mean, she did make Michael his favorite shirts.
She doesn't have any sense of irrationality in her at all here compared to canon. Let's just say Lila gets a good spotlight above her head here like Chloe.
She can be almost, if not, as chaotic as her brother. Suffice to say that the girl squad can have a hard time wrangling her without Michael or Shelby around to help them when she's full on excited.
Marinette is a big time gamer here. Any game she picks up can be fairly judged by her ranging from after about an hour to a day of playing. Michael & Shelby follow behind her extremely closely in this regard.
When things don't go her way, Marinette tends to freak out more often than canon & requires a serious rehab from either family, friends or both when necessary. However, she can pick herself up if she has to do it alone.
Unlike canon, Marinette can act rather meek at times, being very reserved & nervous when not in the company of her siblings or friends or when she's scared of something or someone. It was very apparent when she first met the Akuma Class, Alya & Adrien. She finds it a miracle the people she's met so far are very understanding about it.
While she hates liars, she won't try to out lies without proof. Oop . . . another spoiler for Lila. Whoops.
Marinette can act mature even when she isn't Ladybug at the time. Some friendly advice from her isn't too far away if you need it.
Just like Shelby, she is very nurturing & loves babysitting, especially Manon. In fact, Manon is so used to how Marinette watches over her that she won't accept any other babysitter Nadja tries to offer.
When I said she's still a klutz, I really mean it. In fact she can even be twice as clumsy compared to canon when she's not aware of her surroundings. Thankfully her family is helping work on it & she's striving to be a bit of a perfectionist that doesn't take things to seriously.
Marinette can also tend to be both flustered & embarrassed very easily. As Michael would say, "Don't mess with her funky flow."
She's also just as imaginative as Michael & Rose to a certain degree.
Much like Michael, Marinette can curse quite a bit. Particularly when she's angry, being protective, scared, messing around with her friends or disgusted by something. However, she's much more reserved than her brother.
She's just as protective as Shelby. Unlike Shelby however, Marinette's protectiveness can range from nurturing & kind to violent & or possessive, but not the point where she's had to get her hands dirty . . . yet.
She's also very clingy but it's not just for her lover(s), it's for everyone she cares about; both friends & family.
While she can control her temper a majority of the time, when she loses it, she REALLY loses it. Suffice to say you don't want to see Marinette irritated by the slightest if you care about your own well being.
Finally, she isn't stressed about being Ladybug at all & managing her personal life as she has much better self-control & stress management. Not to mention Shelby & Michael know she's Ladybug from the start & don't get akumatized just like her.
That was all for Marinette. As for when she's Ladybug, she's mostly the same as canon, being Paris' favorite heroine with as big of a love for her city as her family with a high sense of duty.
However, she's much more serious in her job & likes to get fights done quick & clean. She can come off as cold sometimes because of this but everyone knows she cares about Paris & it's people.
Despite this though, she can still be lighthearted & puts up with Chat Noir's flirting & nicknames for her & loves his puns, even if she acts like she gets tired of them sometimes.
In fact, a lot of Parisians wonder why someone as serious & efficient as Ladybug would want a silly, goofy, & clumsy partner like Chat Noir, even though they won't deny he's equally as competent & can get the job done. However, as she will tell news reporters, she really doesn't mind putting up with her kitty & would not have it any other way. To her, he's the perfect partner & the best counterpart to her serious attitude.
Ladybug is also very creative with her fighting style & powers, picking up many video game moves & due to her getting to know Fu much earlier on & through personal discovery & training, the powers of the Ladybug can be put to much more effective & creative use.
Not to mention her excellent performance in crime fighting, creative mind & leadership skills saw her forming her Miraculous Team early & helped Fu discover something that could change everything the last Miraculous Guardian knew about the miraculouses. This however is s post for another time.
And there we go! That's Marinette's dedicated post complete. I will say this took a fair bit of time to write but not as much time as my first post. Stay tuned for the next few posts & feel free to ask about this & my other AU as well. Until next time, Bl1tzM1k3 signing out.

Hypothetically Ever After
[childhood friends AU, adrienette, slowburn, fake/pretend relationship]
With only two weeks of summer vacation to spare, Marinette enlists Adrien’s help with a task of utmost importance.
“I need you to help me seduce your brother.”
Quite predictably, nothing goes according to plan.
a fic loosely inspired by @starrycove’s Brothers AU from approximately 9835 years ago that has lived in my head and my heart ever since.
read it on: ff.net | AO3
chapter twenty-seven
When her turn came, Marinette managed to beg off, claiming she wanted to work on her tan, but making vague assurances that she might partake later.
The ‘right after hell finished freezing over’ part remained unspoken.
Bridgette and Adrien continued jumping for a while, eventually tiring of the repetitive motion and choosing to swim lazily in the water instead.
Félix, to her surprise, had also not joined in the rope jumping, despite having been the one to suggest the activity. Instead, he’d settled on the grass not far from her, seemingly content to watch the action and sun himself as well.
“You know, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you were chickening out,” Adrien called from the water.
Marinette's head shot up in alarm.
Adrien's attention wasn't on her, however, but rather his brother, who gazed back dispassionately.
“I don’t feel like getting wet right now,” Félix didn’t bother raising his voice, trusting that the sound would carry to where his brother and Bridgette were floating. Or perhaps he simply didn’t care either way. Marinette leaned up on her elbows, watching their exchange with curiosity.
She couldn't quite make out Adrien’s facial expression from where she was laying, but she knew just by the tone of his voice that he had a devious glint in his eye. “That sounds like something someone who’s chickening out would say…” He was clearly trying to goad his brother, and judging by the annoyed look on Félix’s face, it was working.
At the sound of Bridgette’s giggling, his blue eyes narrowed further.
Rising with the put-upon sigh of a beleaguered babysitter, the older boy made for the swing as though he were humouring a group of small children, rather than the girl he was dating and his teenage brother.
Rope in one hand, he backed up the hill, each of his movements careful and controlled. Then he burst into motion, running so quickly his feet almost appeared not to touch the ground.
He flew high—higher even than Bridgette had—the arc of his jump graceful and refined. The muscles in his upper body flexed deliciously, blonde hair catching the sun just right, lighting up around his head like a halo in the instant before he hit the water.
My God, he makes it look so easy. Marinette knew she was ogling. Which she definitely shouldn’t be.
Félix surfaced, shaking hair from his face with the air of someone who was aware they were painfully hot and had decided to make it everyone else's problem.
Yet she also knew that, no matter how many times and how many different ways she told herself otherwise, she was not going to be able to look away from the gloriousness that was Félix Agreste’s bare torso glistening in the sunlight.
He looks like goddamn a swimsuit model, she thought disbelievingly. Félix had never taken much of an interest in the fashion side of his father’s business—much more focused on the behind-the-scenes logistics that kept the empire going. Which was a damned shame, because it meant the rest of the world would never get to appreciate his half-naked hotness the same way Marinette was in that moment.
Félix's lack of modelling career clearly wasn’t due to any shortcomings in the physique department. He easily could have been a model, and he certainly looked the part right then—pushing wet strands of hair from his eyes, toned muscles shifting beneath skin that was starting to develop the barest hint of a tan. Water droplets traced the contours of his body, glittering like diamonds in the sun.
Oh to be a drop of water on a hot boy's abs... Marinette licked her lips.
She was abruptly shaken from her reverie by Adrien, who flopped down next to her. “Shove over,” he said, settling his very wet, cold body on what had been a very comfortable, very dry towel mere moments before. She tried in vain to scoot away, but Adrien was persistent; trapping her against him, determined to leech all the heat out of her sun-warmed skin.
“Get off me!” She cried, hands slipping against his chest as she tried to dislodge his grip. If anything, her efforts only made Adrien cling on tighter. He was still soaked from his dip in the lake, and Marinette cursed as his clammy limbs wrapped around her like the tentacles of a very determined octopus.
“Nope, don’t think I will,” he replied, burrowing his head into her shoulder and curling up as though he intended to go to sleep.
Marinette stared down at him in disbelief.
“Adrien,” she tried.
No response.
“Adrien, get off of me.” Marinette arched upward, attempting to wriggle out from underneath him. It only succeeded in pressing their bodies more closely together, making her hyper-aware of how few layers of clothing were presently between them.
Adrien's arms tightened around her, effectively holding her in place as he cracked one eye open to glare at her.
“Stop squirming,” he grumbled, his eye nothing more than a slit of green, just barely visible through a curtain of thick blonde hair.
“Ugh!” She fell back in despair, rolling her eyes as she resigned herself to her fate. Apparently, she would now be spending a solid chunk of her afternoon playing the role of body pillow.
Who knew that having Adrien Agreste as a pretend boyfriend would be such ‘hands-on’ work?
Marinette withheld a snort. And now she was even thinking in puns! He really was a terrible influence, she mused, carding a hand absentmindedly through his hair.
Adrien leaned into the gesture, nudging her hand like a big, dopey blonde cat.
“I can’t believe you’re about to go to sleep on me. You’re gonna ruin my tan,” she whined, imagining the wonky tan lines she was going to have. At this rate, one whole half of her body would be darker than the other, all because a useless lump of teenage boy had decided the best place to have his afternoon nap was directly on top of her.
Adrien didn’t respond, other than to sigh contentedly. Marinette shivered, her spine tingling at the feel of his warm breath dancing across the side of her neck.
She closed her eyes, deciding she might as well join in on this impromptu catnap. It wasn’t like she was going anywhere any time soon.
Within moments she was asleep.
-x-
Marinette knew she was dreaming.
Or rather she seriously suspected she might be. Everything was fuzzy at the edges, tinged with the soft intangibility that only came with dream reality. But she was so warm and comfortable lying in the sun that she couldn’t be bothered to question it, much less care.
Dream or not, she was very much enjoying the way the gentle breeze was tugging at her hair.
Although on second thought, perhaps it wasn’t the breeze at all, but in fact someone's fingers, combing through the dark lengths.
She glanced to the right to find Félix sitting beside her.
At least, she thought it was Félix. It was so hard to tell the difference between him and his brother when the sun was in their hair and their eyes were averted. Was he the one playing with her hair?
Before she could ask as much, he turned, almost as though he’d heard her thoughts.
Running a hand over her hair, he cupped the side of her face tenderly, his eyes the cool blue of a winter morning sky.
Félix after all then.
She leaned into the touch, her eyelids fluttering. He chuckled lowly.
“I’m not Félix, I’m Adrien,” Félix said, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled down at her.
Wow, she had never seen him smile like that before. There was so much warmth and love in his expression, and she realized with a thrill that it was all for her. For her! Her plans must have succeeded then, she mused, sighing in relief. After all, Félix wouldn’t be looking at her like this—like she was his entire world—if he wasn’t in love with her.
A giddy sort of elation took hold, only gaining strength when he laid down beside her, so close she could feel every inch of his body.
“Mmm…” His lips trailed from her temple down to the column of her throat, paying particular attention to the sensitive skin just behind her ear.
“Ahh!” She gasped, arching into his embrace. Her hands flexed at her sides, overcome by the desire to either pull him closer or push him away. It felt almost too good, like miniature fireworks were exploding underneath her skin, setting all her nerve endings alight.
Spring green eyes stared down at her when he pulled away. She marvelled at the length of his eyelashes. He really was so beautiful.
His lips quirked in a devilish smirk, belying his otherwise angelic appearance. Something about the image tickled at the back of her mind, a tiny flicker that told her something was...different than before.
Her brain was still sluggishly trying to catch up, thought processes slowed to a crawl at the influx of physical sensations caused by his lips on her skin.
He leaned over her now, his green eyes—wait, green? Weren’t they supposed to be blue?—bright like the canopy of leaves above them as he softly whispered. “Marinette, it’s time to get up.”
But she didn’t want to, not when Adrien’s body felt so good pressed against her own.
Wait.
Adrien’s body…?
“Marinette.”
Her eyes flying open, Marinette sprang upward with a gasp, nearly clipping Adrien’s chin with her forehead in the process.
He fell back on his haunches, gazing at her in alarm. “Are you alright?” He frowned, brows furrowed above eyes that were the same shade as the trees behind him. The sight brought with it the memory of his weight pinning her down, the phantom sensation of his kisses sweeping along her jaw.
Marinette leapt to her feet, eager to put some distance between them and shake off the lingering remnants of her dream.
"FINE, I'm fine!" She blurted, looking anywhere but in his direction. "Just a weird dream, that's all." And by weird, I mean weirdly enjoyable, which is what's making it so weird in the first place... She made a face. Obviously, the events of last night's party were still weighing heavily on her mind, judging by the havoc being wrought on her senses.
Nevertheless, hormones and Hot Tub Hijinks aside, she didn't actually want Adrien. Not like that, anyway. The only reason she was confused was because in her dream she had mistaken him for Félix.
It was just her mind playing tricks on her, not some subconscious expression of carnal desire.
Because that would be Weird.
Adrien came up beside her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. Still on edge and oversensitive from her dream romp, Marinette shied away from the touch instinctively, her stomach clenching with guilt when it caused his eyes to flicker.
For a moment it almost appeared like he wanted to say something else, only to think better of it at the last second.
Instead, he gave her an indecipherable look, before spinning on his heel and heading for the path back through the woods.
"Come on," he tossed over his shoulder, not bothering to wait and see if she was following. “Your parents have been calling us."
-x-
By the time they made it back to where the boat was docked, her parents had set out an assortment of cool drinks and snacks; small things to help keep everyone hydrated, and to combat the heat of the afternoon sun beating down on them.
Sitting in the shade of a linden tree, Marinette savoured the last of her watermelon slice, basking in the peace and contentedness only a beautiful day on the lake could bring.
Félix and Adrien were down by the water’s edge, ostensibly searching for critters in the reeds, but having more success producing enough racket to scare off every living creature within half a kilometre.
All it had taken was one offhand comment about frog racing to send them scrambling for the shoreline, consumed by the idea of making their amphibian racing dreams a reality. It was eerily reminiscent of their childhood days, and proof that no matter how grown-up Adrien and Félix Agreste might appear on the outside, they were still those same little boys she'd known at heart.
She watched the two of them fondly, her eyes drawn to each in turn. They looked like little kids, laughing and talking lowly amongst themselves as they poked at the underbrush, no stone left unturned in their hunt for creepy crawlies.
They were bare-chested, blond hair hanging in their faces as they bent over whatever had caught their interest. Adrien was prodding it with a stick, Félix observing over his shoulder. All of a sudden she heard a shout and saw Adrien rear back, followed by a loud splash. Both boys emerged from the lake, completely drenched.
“Adrien!” Félix shouted, grabbing his brother in a headlock as he dragged him back towards the water, dunking him under even as Adrien laughed hysterically.
Marinette giggled. Yup, just like when they were kids. Adrien had a knack for making trouble for his older brother, if only to get some kind of reaction out of him.
Félix had always been too serious for his own good, even when they were children. He was like his father in that way. So from a young age, Adrien had made a point of behaving as outlandishly as possible in order to draw the emotions—whether positive or negative—out of the older Agreste boy. He was pretty much the only one who could do it; a fact that had always made Marinette burn with a silent sort of jealousy.
She'd wanted to be able to do that for Félix too—wanted to be the cause of his happiness, the one at whom he directed his little half-smiles and fond glances when he thought no one was looking.
Now though, it made her happy to see how close the two brothers were. She was glad they had each other to rely upon, what with the isolated nature of the lives they lead. Homeschooled from a young age, trapped within the gilded walls of their beautiful houses.
After all, even a beautiful prison was still a prison in the end.
Hence why Marinette was relieved to know that at least the Agreste brothers would always have one another to help combat their no doubt perpetual loneliness.
Adrien met her eye across the distance and grinned broadly, his hair a golden halo around his head, bangs falling into his eyes as he gave her a little wave. Her heart stuttered in her chest before picking up its beat just a little bit faster, a swooping sensation in her stomach.
And her. They would always have her beside them as well.
Wiggling her fingers in reply Marinette smiled back at him, filled with a pleasant warmth that had nothing to do with the sweet-smelling summer air around them, or the sun shining above.
Her gaze then turned to Félix, unable to prevent herself from admiring the way his forearms flexed as he attempted to wring the water from his hair. They really were in a league of their own, these Agreste boys.
Bridgette settling on the grass beside her brought an end to Marinette’s moment of introspection, tender sentiments scattering like a cloud of fireflies at the sound of the other girl’s voice.
“I’ve seen the way you look at him, you know.”
Marinette stiffened, her gaze darting from where it had been resting on Félix to take in the knowing look on Bridgette’s face, feeling like a child that had been caught with a hand in the cookie jar.
Except instead of stealing sweet treats, she’d been caught ogling someone else’s boyfriend.
Oh god, is she going to challenge me to a duel? Are we going to have to fight to the death???
“UHH—”
PLEASE NO I’M TOO YOUNG TO DIE.
To her surprise, rather than throwing the gauntlet, Bridgette laughed brightly.
“It’s okay, there’s no need to be embarrassed! I think it’s sweet actually.” She winked at Marinette like they were sharing some kind of secret.
Marinette stared back at her, wide-eyed. Respectfully, what in the fresh hell is going on???
Although she had admittedly very little experience in the realm of trying to steal other people’s boyfriends, she was fairly certain this was not how most of these confrontations usually played out. She'd expected there to be more slapping, or for the other girl to accuse her of being a no-good, two-timing hussy at the very least.
Not this… amicable girl talk.
She sent up a quick prayer to the powers that be for guidance.
Are you there, God? It’s me, Marinette. Quick question: am I a joke to you?
The two girls sat in the grass, both gazing off in the boys' direction, watching them gallivanting around the lakeshore. From an outside perspective, it probably made for a fairly picturesque, idyllic tableau.
Upon closer inspection, however, any random passerby would almost certainly be able to smell the smoke wafting out of Marinette's ears, generated by her furiously whirling mind.
“You guys must really love one another,” Bridgette added with a sigh, sounding—of all things—envious. “He totally looks at you the same way. It’s clear that he’s mad about you.”
Marinette blinked, beginning to get the distinct impression that she might, perhaps, be missing out on some very crucial information. Namely, what in the actual fuck was going on.
Which really would not have been all that unusual.
“I'm sorry...who are we talking about? I think I zoned out for a bit there.” She admitted with a wince.
Bridgette threw her head back, laughing as though Marinette had just told a particularly funny joke and not asked an honest question.
“I don’t blame you,” her dark eyes twinkled with amusement, a deep mysterious blue like the night sky. She gave Marinette a sympathetic smile. “They really are unfairly pretty, aren’t they?”
As one they turned, gazing upon Adrien and Félix in all of their topless glory.
The two girls shared an emphatic nod.
“So pretty,” Marinette agreed. Finally, something they could commiserate on.
Bridgette leaned back on her hands, legs stretched out on the grass in front of them.
“For the record, I was talking about you and Adrien and how adorably in love the two of you are.”
Marinette opened her mouth, a denial ready on the tip of her tongue. She stopped at the last second however.
While she was relieved to discover that Bridgette had been talking about Adrien, and not Félix as she’d originally assumed—thank god for small mercies—she couldn’t exactly vehemently deny the other girl’s statement, seeing how she and Adrien were trying to convince people of that very thing.
Correcting Bridgette's assumption that she and Adrien were madly in love would risk blowing their cover and revealing that they’d been faking it the entire time. Marinette was no 007, but even she knew there would be no recovering from a gaff that severe. So she was left with no choice but to stutter out a weak “Is that so?” and hope that Bridgette didn’t pick up on her discomfort.
Which thankfully she did not, seeing how she went on speaking.
“You’re really lucky, you know that?” Bridgette stared off into the distance, her expression turning wistful. “He looks at you like you hung the moon and the stars in the sky. If only all guys were as capable of being so open and honest with their feelings...”
Marinette followed the other girl’s line of sight, unsurprised to find her gaze resting on Félix. It didn’t take a genius or even a particularly intuitive person to figure out who she was alluding to. Marinette felt torn between wanting to comfort Bridgette—who was growing more forlorn and woebegone with every passing moment—and wanting to flee for the hills, desperate to avoid being put in the position of having to give love advice to her rival.
She settled at last on a middle ground, deciding to speak from her experience as Félix’s childhood friend.
“Félix doesn’t have the easiest time expressing himself, as I’m sure you’ve realized,” here it was Marinette’s turn to give her a sympathetic look. “He’s definitely more of an ‘actions speak louder than words' kind of guy. The best way to tell how he actually feels is to go based on what he does, not what he says.”
Bridgette frowned thoughtfully, her tone considering. “I guess so...”
Catching movement from the corner of her eye, Marinette turned to find Adrien beckoning her over rather insistently. She stood, grateful for the excuse to escape the conversation and the increasingly awkward atmosphere.
“Well, I’d better go see what that one’s up to… God knows he has a way of getting into trouble if I leave him alone for too long,” she paused at the last second, turning to look back down at the other girl uncertainly. Bridgette remained seated, gazing off into space with a thousand-yard stare that Marinette couldn't help but find vaguely unsettling on someone who was otherwise so cheerful.
She looks like a sad baby animal in one of those awful commercials... GAH, I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE.
And so she decided to speak honestly, love rivalry be damned.
“For what it’s worth, Félix has never taken the time to introduce anyone to his family. So that has to count for something, right?" Bridgette perked up slightly, meeting Marinette's eye. She donned her best attempt at an encouraging smile, hoping the strain wasn't too obvious at the corners.
"Besides, the best way to get answers is to ask for them, so if something's really bothering you, you could always try bringing it up with him. I mean, where's the harm in that? Communication is the key to a successful relationship as they say!" She let out a stilted laugh, delivering her last line with what was probably a serious contender for the title of Corniest Thumbs Up of All Time.
Bridgette merely stared at her.
Marinette grit her teeth, repressing the urge to scream. Well, now that I have thoroughly and irrevocably embarrassed myself, I think my work here is done.
And so she did what any other mature and reasonable person would do in her position.
She bolted.

Manon And Her Babysitter (A Masc!Marinette Fic)
Manon being a Mood for 2393 words straight.
I have like 30 wip’s (not all Masc! Mari fics, I’m working on a new au and maybe even in a zine-fingers crossed) and school is starting for me so heads up if I don’t post much. Or post less than I did before. Writing is a stress reliever for me so you may notice a pattern when I post.
This Masc! Mari (aka Marin Dupain Cheng) AU based off the lovely @daloochsdoodles and their art. Please check them out.
Marin didn’t think that a girl with eyes the size of dinner plates would take such a liking to him. Asking him about his day or take her to parks when she visited.
Manon didn’t think that a headstrong teen would have so much patience with her. Even at her worst and crankiest moments in the day.  ——
Alya once told Marin that he intimated her when she first entered the school gates on her first day. His height and dark clothes just added to the anxiousness of the new school, new town, new people growing in her stomach. Alya felt smaller than the head on the tiniest pin needle or a mouse in a garden of starving foxes. Of course, Alya would never let anyone push her around but ideas like that just bubbled over in her mind. Yet the growing worry disappeared the moment Marin looked at her -and flashed a sunny smile.
However, to be fair, Alya later confessed that Marin could never be scary even if he tried. His warm aura, his soft pastel Jagged Stone sweatshirt, with his charming features was the total package of a fluffy boyfriend that anybody, whether their sexuality, would want to wrap their arms around. He’s a soft man. Even with his tall and strong build.
So at this instant, in his family’s living room, he didn’t know if his face looked like the soft friend Alya knew and loved or the intimating teenager that could cut diamond with a stare. His question was answered when the girl that hid behind her mother’s legs gave him a toothy smile. As toothy as she could make it with two of her front teeth missing.
Marin gave a gentle smile back, waving to her before he went back to his tablet. Annotating an article about the American Revolution for history class. Saving the key details in his head to use in the upcoming class debate while relating it back to the French Revolution. Clicking the screen with his stylus some more before his mom called him over.
“Honey, I want you to meet my friend, Nadja.” Sabine introduced, motioning him to show his good manners. Marin reluctantly slips out of his comfy position on the couch. Shaking Nadja’s hand while his mother continued.
“She used to come to the house all the time when you were little! It’s been years since I could remember you guys standing in the same room.”
“Your mother talks a lot about you-”
“Marin, but some people call me Mari.”
“AND I’M MANON CHAMACK!” The little girl yelled excitedly. Sniggering to herself when she got Marin’s attention. Proudly standing in front of her mother while her body rocked back and forth on the balls of her heels. Marin couldn’t help but share her infectious smile. Reminiscing when he was around Manon’s age. How he would try to get noticed by the older kids at school or in family reunions. Making himself seem like the coolest kid ever or just hovering over big kids before they bothered to include him in their games.
Nadja and Sabine smiled at each other, fighting the urge to laugh at Manon’s sudden introduction. Sabine quickly invited them in and out of the doorway. Nadja instinctively followed Sabine when her eyes lingered on her daughter. Praying that she wouldn’t cause too much of a ruckus for Marin.
Marin squatted down to meet Manon’s height.
“So what brings you here, Manon? Have any plans for the day?” He asked. Letting this kid be a healthy distraction from his report.
Manon swang her body side to side, taking in a breath before rambling. “Mom says that she plans to take me to the park if I’m SUPER good when she’s here with your mommy! Maybe even get a cookie from the bakery too!” Skipping her way in and passing Marin. Jumping a little higher as the thought of having a baked good made Manon’s mouth water.
“MAYBE I should even get a brownie! With sprinkles! Or maybe just a WHOLE cake with blue frosting!” Giggling to herself some more before her loud voice went over the list of treats she likes.
“Aren’t you rambunctious,” Marin sighed. Following Manon into the house (while she asked what rambunctious meant) before shutting the front door closed.

“I have a friend with your name. At least it sounds like it.” Manon explained between her bites on her brownie. Still warm from his mother’s kitchen with hints of pinks and blues from the sprinkles Manon added. Crunching them under her tongue. Unintentionally making her mouth a light shade of purple.
“Yeah,” Marin answered. Holding Manon’s hand as he held the other with the animal balloon that he bought (*cough* with no influence from the baby doll eyes *cough*). “What’s their name?” He asked. Looking back and forth for any cars as they crossed the street.
“Maribelle. She’s pretty cool and foreign. Gave me half of her cookie so we’re friends now.” Manon nonchalantly said. Unaware that her friendship was bought, but from the looks of it, she didn’t mind too much about it. “Now that I think about it, Mari sounds like a girl name. Right?” The little girl said innocently.
“Yeah, it was in a way,” Marin replied easily, checking for incoming traffic until they reached the sidewalk. “But things change.” Giving Manon a smile which she returned after wiping the chocolate off the edges of her lips.
“You wanna go on the swings?”
“Last one there is a rotten egg!” Manon snickered. Running as fast as her legs could take her to the empty swing set. Leaving Marin in her dust.
——–
“PLEASSSEEE MARI!” Manon cried. Collapsing onto the ground and kicking her feet in the air. All as Marin stood firm on his promise with Nadja.
Don’t let her eat sweets after 7 pm.
“No.”
Earning him another anger huff from the little girl.
Nadja was off handling another story that needed to be scripted and filmed on the same day. Extremely unrealistic for someone to do, but Nadja was up for the challenge if it meant that she could have a full week off with her daughter. The exhausted, workaholic mother promised Marin that she would be back before 11 pm. However, he pushed back his tutoring session from tomorrow morning to tomorrow in the afternoon just in case she came in later than that.
Till Nadja arrived, Marin was ready to handle a cranky six-year-old for the next three+ hours.
Manon, now a cranky and sleepy six-year-old, stopped tossing and turning on the ground. Stretching out her arms and legs like a starfish in defeat. Closing her eyes and slowly opening them again.
“Tired?” Marin asked, placing his hands on his hips.
Manon nodded, lifting herself off the ground. “Can I have Unicorn Puffs for a snack now?”
“I’ll make you a fruit bowl with fresh strawberries and melon.” Marin reasoned. Recalling that Unicorn Puff Cereal was also a “no” in Nadja’s list.
“I can put that one chocolate drizzle you like on them though.” He sighed, lowering himself to Manon’s level.
The little girl shot up from the floor, her twin-tails bouncing with her quick nod. Gaining back her energy and beaming her toothy smile. Now complete thanks to her new front teeth.
“Deal.”
——–
“Look, Marin! It’s that one person from your magazines!” Manon wooed. Amazed that the model’s hair was as shiny in real life like it was in the glossy pages of Vogue. Wanting to feel it as she stepped towards them before getting pulled back.
“Oh my gosh, Manon! Look the merry-go-around is empty. You should totally go there!” Marin hissed, ignoring his friend/unicorn’s laughs. Pushing Manon towards the carousel. Away from the shiny person taking pictures from the fountain.
////
Manon choked on the sobs that threaten to come up her mouth. Her face felt hot like the time she threw up all the sugary goods that turned bitter in her stomach. However, this type of sick didn’t make Manon’s belly flip in pain, but her tiny heart beat faster and her palms lost their grip on Alya’s hand. She wanted her mommy to smoothen her nerves or Marin to pull her in one for his hugs. Wishing she could smell the fabric softer his mother buys on his sweater or hear her mom tell her that it would be okay in the end.
-But no matter how much Alya distracted her, Manon could only watch the ice around her grow thicker and thicker. Looking towards the outside was harder as the ice grew mistier. The firefighters outside tried to explain how they would get them out as if to calm them down but Manon couldn’t hear them and the ice made them look all distorted and ‘wriggly’.
“Lady Beetle and Chat Noir will save us. Right?”
Manon remembering back to the dolls Marin sewed of the heroes. How they sat on his shelves with a smile. Wondering if they would look that friendly when they pull people out of danger. Or if they really win every time when an Akuma comes and hurts Paris.
“Of course! They’re superheroes."Alya smiled. Pulling her face towards her. Grinning like everything was okay, even when it felt like it wasn’t. Rubbing circles on her back to keep her warm.
"They always save the day. We just have to trust them.”
////
Lady Beetle jumped from building to building before landing on the ice dome that shielded the merry-go-round from the summer heat. Showing no usual signs of melting.  Making him less surprised when he felt the toughness and chill of the temperature drop from the ice through his suit.
Lady Beetle doubted it would make a dent, but he still whipped his yo-yo around the ice capsule. In an attempt to crack it or even split the whole thing. The yo-yo didn’t do much like the firefighter’s axes. Huffing in frustration before seeing a little girl clapped her hands against the ice.
“Manon-”
“LADY BEETLE!” She cried out. Getting the woman behind her to do the same.
“Alya,” Lady Beetle whispered. Rushing over to them.
“LADY BEETLE!” Manon yelled again, softer than the last as LB got her level. He resisted the urge to tell Manon everything. That he’s sorry for leaving her for even a moment when he promised her to protect her. Sorry about ignoring her the whole day and pushing her aside for one of his complex plans on getting a date. Sorry for not stopping Stormy Weather from trapping them in a chilly container. Even apologizing that he didn’t buy the ice cream she wanted.
However, then would blow his identity.
Lady Beetle rolled his words in his mouth, having to settle for the “You will be okay, I’ll get you out” line. Swallowing his uncertainty as he heard Stormy Weather crackled her umbrella to form a hurricane in Chat Noir’s direction. Who tried their best to push Stormy away from the citizens.
Lady Beetle looped his yo-yo in his fingers. Ready to throw it before Manon called out to him.
“I trust you.”
Marin hurried before the reporters could mog him for an interview or bumble questions about the Akuma attack today.  Chat Noir left before their miraculous give out and Marin just needs to see if Manon and Alya were okay. The Miraculous cure would have healed them if anything happened yet that didn’t make Marin feel any better though when he reached the park and they weren’t there.
“MANON! ALYA!”
He called, running around for a bit. Knocking into someone, promptly saying sorry before spinning his head around to find his friends. His lungs drew sharps breaths the more he ran. Stopping when he heard a small shout calling his name.
“MARI!”
“Manon! Alya!”
Rushing into Manon’s hug. Glad to see her again and even better to feel that being trapped in a chilly ice dome for an hour didn’t give her a fever.   Manon’s little hands pulled on Marin’s face, making him face her big, goofy grin. Alya behind her having the same one plastered on her face, only to punch Marin’s arm and scold him for scaring them shitless when he disappeared when the Akuma nearly froze all of Paris.
“YOU WILL NEVER BELIEVE WHO WE SAW TODAY!”
“Wh-”
“LADY BEETLE!” Manon screamed. Almost making Marin drop her from the shock of her roar. From there Manon continued to gush about the red hero. How they tried to get them out and then promised to beat the Akuma to save them.  How high they could jump, making it seem that they could fly over buildings. How Chat Noir and Lady Beetle worked together to save the day. Plus how cool Chat Noir looked when saying “Cataclysm”.  How the magic ladybugs fixed everything for good and how-
“I’m just glad you’re okay, Manon.” Marin sighed. Chuckling as Manon tried to mimicking Lady Beetle calling on their Lucky Charm.  Alya stole Marin’s attention while she happily flipped through the photos of the Akuma to post on the Ladyblog. Mentioning how some filters were needed to make the picture clearer. Even catching a video of the magical ladybug effortlessly fixing buildings and basically 'curing’ all the victims that got swept up in Stormy Weather’s scheme.
Marin was just relieved that everyone was fine and well as people gawked at the aftermath of Lady Beetle’s damage-control or how the girl with the once cursed umbrella now happily smiles on TV announcing that the weather channel will now have two hosts.
——— All as a certain black cat sprang down to an alley. Dropping the magical transformation and swiftly returning to their life. Slipping their way back into the park where a restless and provocative photographer sat and a large gorilla- uh, I mean bodyguard searched for him. Leaving the small piece of freedom they have behind to return to their civilian life. Not before knocking into someone that looked too familiar to just be a stranger.

Con Man's Daughter
Posting this because there isn't enough biodad! John Constantine content.
[Masterlist]
(Part 2)
-----
I feel like this should be a Damianette story or just platonic relationship after Jon got aged-up to seventeen and Damian wanted a friend his age but doesn’t want to admit it.
So basically there is this big bad in Gotham using magic that Batman was fighting at the time and enlisted John Constantine to help out.
John realizes that the villain is using a Miraculous.
“Oh. I think I know how he gets his powers. And lucky for you, Bats, I know an expert on this special brand of magic.”
And he did the smart thing and called up Marinette who at the time was already Guardian and was looking for other lost Miraculouses like in the Treasure Hunter AU I wrote.
He calls her at a really bad time. She was in the process of being chased by the guardians of the place. Monsters and evil spirits.
“Hello, Dad. What do you need and can you do it quickly?”
“Hey, sweetheart, it’s me. How is my little cupcake up to these days?”
“You called at a bad time.” Gunshots.
“WAS THAT A GUN I HEARD? WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU, YOUNG LADY?!”
“Somewhere in Japan. Getting a Miraculous. And why can’t you call me to check in on me and not ask me to help you with whatever mess you got yourself into.” More gunshots sounds and it was telling that Marinette was using a gun.
“Where did you get a gun? And don’t you have school?”
“It’s summer break. Don’t worry Maman and Papa know. Well, the fact that I am in Japan anyways.” Marinette sounded a little out of breath. Roaring and horrifying sounds at the other end. “Can we do this later?”
“As it happens, there is a villain going around Gotham with what I think is a Miraculous.”
Swears on the other end.
“Oi. Watch your fucking language, young lady.”
“How about a No and move the fuck back, old man. I am coming over right now.”
“Old man? I am not that old-” as a magic blue portal opens up in the Bat Cave.
And a red Chinese dragon comes out with someone riding it.
Its rider was a black-haired girl. She had a trench coat similar to Constantine's. I imagine her with a fedora. Like Carmen Sandiego style but not red. Sometimes red but only when she has to steal it from a museum or high security places and she leaves a name card with the name Carmen Sandiego. A sword strapped to her back and a dagger to her thigh.
She had a gun in her hand which she used to shoot the monsters as it was halfway through the portal and yelled out the spell to close it.
“Brilliant entrance but you are in lots of trouble, little lady. What were you thinking about going to another country unsupervised? And isn’t there still a butterfly problem in Paris?”
“One, I wasn’t unsupervised. I had Tikki, a billion years old being and a sort of god. Two.Well, it got boring trying to track Hawk-bitch down. And I found this legend about a guy with a Miraculous who disappeared in the temple and thought hey, more miraculous could mean another edge to defeating Moth-man.”
More bickering and John grounding Marinette who was acting very nonchalant about it.
Okay, at this point, I should say that Batman and Robin are in the background trying to make some sense.
Batman is surprised to find out that Constantine has a daughter who is also involved in magic like her Father but an apparently more specialised kind called the Miraculous. He is a little miffed that he didn’t know about John having a daughter. He did consider it weird at first that she had a slight french accent unlike her father’s Liverpool accent although she pronounced some words like he does.
He also connected some dots that she is also the Parisian heroine, Lady Rouge who Wonder Woman introduced to the League a while back and had declined to join the Young Justice or Teen Titans until everything in Paris was resolved.
Damian on the other hand was suspicious of the new arrival and came to the same conclusion as his father about the daughter thing.
Batman after a few minutes, clears his throat.
The Constantines stop arguing.
“Bonjour. Batman. Robin. Pleasure to meet you. I am Mari Constantine and yes, I am this homeless looking man’s brilliant daughter.” “Hey”
“Well, Mari. Your father thinks you can help us with this new criminal turning Gotham upside down. Literally in some cases. He said that you might be able to help us.” Batman said as he pulled up zoomed in picture of the Miraculous.
Mari looks through the Miraculous grimoire and tells them all about it and power-ups, basically the most effective thing to defeat the guy is to get the Miraculous off them. Plus a spell that would make the Miraculous ineffective if casted within a certain radius of it.
“Thank you for the information, Mari. Constantine, let’s go.”
Mari made to follow them.
“You young lady are grounded and staying here.”
“I don’t need another supervillain using the Miraculous which are my responsibility as Guardian to retrieve them for their own misuse and wreaking havoc on the city. And what if there is an akuma in Paris? I can’t go there if I am grounded in the Batcave although it is a cool place to hang out.”
“You can portal back to Paris but you are not going to follow me. Understood?”
“yes. crystal”
“Good. After me and Batsy get the Miraculous, you can do your Guardian duties.”
Damian snickers. Until Batman cut his mood short, “You are staying behind too. Robin.”
“But Father, why? I am much more capable than Constantine.”
“Hey!” Both father and daughter.
Damian is staying behind too because of the Miraculous power or other reasons and keeps an eye on Mari.
Damian stays behind and there were some protests about mari mad about having a babysitter and Damian doesn’t want to be a babysitter. Despite the two of them being around the same age.
“I got an eye on you so no funny business.”
“Okay, Dad, I am not going to have sex with Robin.” Mari said with a shit- eating grin. Robin definitely didn’t blush.
“I hate you sometimes.”
“I love you too, Dad. Go save the world. Byee.”
John eyes her suspiciously because she is not one to give up that easily usually.
He casts a spell to watch her as they leave. and which she totally knew about.
“So...I have one question.”
“Tt, ask and don’t bother me anymore.”
“Is Batman Bruce Wayne?”
Damian looks up, totally caught off guard.
“I am going to take that as a yes.”
Puts sword at her neck. “How did you find out?!”
“Opened up Google Maps and saw that we are under Wayne Manor. Connected the dots. Also I already knew when Dad made a bet with me once to find out Batman’s secret identity but he never did confirm it for me. And can you please not tell your father about this? I don’t feel like being interrogated by the Bat in the future yet.”
“Father must know about this.”
“I saw you looking at Scarlet here. An animal lover then? You can give her some belly rubs. She deserves it after helping me outrun those monsters.”
His silence was brought. To pet a dragon.
One thing after another and he ends up bringing out his pets-Jerry the turkey, Goliath the dragon-bat, Titus- and her introducing him to her other pets like a hellhound, griffin and other mythical creatures who mostly roam free but come to her when she calls for them and also the kwamis, at least the ones who came with her.
After 30 mins have passed, “So Robin how do you feel about disobeying our fathers?”
“I am in.”
“Depends. Are we going after the (villain's name) ?”
“Yes.”
Awesome montage of them getting rid of the spell John casted and flying out of the Batcave on their respective giant flying pets to the villain’s base.
Meanwhile, their fathers are not doing so well and are trapped in a death trap. John can’t say the spell because the villain made him unable to talk.
“At least, the kids are staying put.”
Cut to Damian and Mari jumping off their pets and onto the roof. Taking out the guards posted there and going into the building all sneakily and also taking out the guards that come their way.
They dropped into the room where their fathers and the villain is.
“Why am I not surprised?”
Villain starts an evil monologue about his mastermind plan to which Damian cuts it short by trying to cut him down with his katana. Mari goes to deactivate the death trap.
They are evenly matched with Damian’s training and the Miraculous.
Mari steps in as Damian was about to be killed. Taps on the shoulder of the villain and when he turns around, gives an awesome right hook that knocks him out.
Takes away the Miraculous and curses him. Wiped the dude’s memories of it.
“When I said stay in the Batcave, I meant stay behind at the Batcave. What point of being grounded, don’t you understand?”
“You mean, Oh, Mari, light of my life, my wonderful daughter, thank you for saving my ass. You are the best.’ by that, right?”
-----
Mari and Damian exchanged numbers and email addresses.
As she was about to leave the Batcave, “It’s been nice meeting you, Mr. Wayne.” and leaves with a wink.
John ‘ungrounds’ her for the look on Batman’s face.
-----
After this, Marinette and Damian become friends who bitch and vent to each other about their alter egos and various villains of their respective cities. (In codes, just in case) They also share updates about their pets and love of drawings.
They have that type of friendship where they trade favors. Mari calls Damian to Paris sometimes to help out with the akuma of the day and Damian sometimes calls her in when Bruce doesn’t let him go investigate a case so he can sneak out by magical means or as back up for when his brothers were too annoying to deal with.
It’s summer break so no missing school.
John and Bruce are aware of their friendship and some of the shenanigans the pair gets into behind their back.
-----
-----
Right. how this all started...
John and Sabine first met when the latter was still in college somewhere in France. John was tracking down a demonic entity which was targeting Sabine for some reason and she was the next target.
John saved her life and exorcised the demon. There was a heat of the moment thing and they had a one-night stand. There were a few more flings and hook-ups after that night.
And nine months later, Marinette Cheryl Cheng-Constantine was born.
When Sabine first found out, she called John to come over and he thought that it was a call for another hook-up and was very surprised to find out that it was not and that he was going to be a father.
They both like each other but do not want to be in a relationship together so they both remained as friends and John agreed after some strong-arming at the very least to meet his daughter before he goes to do his job. And pay for child support. And help Sabine during her pregnancy.
Pregnant Sabine was someone you don’t want to mess with. And John has never met a demon or anyone scarier than her.
He was at first not into meeting his child and there was a self-pity party he threw himself with how the child was going to live a bad life because he was the dad and how he destroyed every good thing in his life.
That’s why he is going to meet the baby once and leave maybe a letter and the occasional birthday present and stay out of their life. Forever.
The day Marinette was born and it took one look into her eyes for the HellBlazer to fall under the spell and all of his plans to stay out of her life to burn away.
At first, he tried. He really tried but he couldn’t do it.
Lasted 4 months before he came back, wanting to place protection spells on her and sigils around the house to keep away the forces of Heaven and Hell and other entities so they won’t use her against him as a bargaining chip.
Sabine calls him to babysit. He could have refused and Sabine would have easily found a babysitter. He moans and whines about how he is a great mage and not a bloody babysitter. Sabine retorts that it is actually called parenting since he is Marinette’s father. He grumbles but in the end, agrees.
The great John Constantine is wrapped around the little girl’s finger.
He was around for some of Marinette’s firsts. Her first word was “John”.
It made him cry. He wasn’t a good man and he doesn’t deserve someone this precious. His daughter doesn’t deserve someone like him as a father but fate made it that way and what can you do about it.
After an exhausting week of doing the usual and coming back from Hell, he saw that Sabine had sent him a video. It was Marinette taking her first steps.
Chas swears that in all the years that he has known John Constantine he has never seen the man look so happy.
------
When Tom came into the picture, John was there to take care of a toddler Marinette while Tom and Sabine went on dates.
Insert John threatening a much bigger Tom while holding a baby Marinette with wide eyes and hugging a teddy bear with the same coat as John’s. (It was something Sabine brought on a whim and to tease John when he came around.)
Tom is supportive and treats Marinette like his own flesh and blood.
John resolved to leave for good now that Tom would be there to be a father figure for Marinette.
That plan fell into the drain the moment he was going to leave for what was supposed to be the last time before Sabine pulled him back and knocked some sense into him.
His face was a big giveaway. Sabine knows that despite his claims of being a terrible father for Marinette, he was a good one and damnit she was going to make sure that Marinette would get to know her actual father.
Tom later made an awkward talk with John about how he was not going to replace John’s role as Marinette’s father.
Marinette was the flower girl at Tom and Sabine’s wedding. John was there too.
During bedtime, John would read her stories and use his magic to make it come to life. Although he would feel a little drained afterwards, it was worth it to see her smile.
Sometimes he told stories about his tamer adventures. (After cutting out some of the inappropriate bits)
------
When Marinette was about 5 or 6, Sabine was out on an errand and Tom was at home with Mari and helping her with her homework. There was a crash downstairs at the bakery. Tom went down to check it out to find John lying on the ground.
With a weak cough, he said, “Close the door. Close it.” Before losing consciousness
Tom did before a man with pitch black eyes slammed against it.
Thankfully John had installed heavy wards around the bakery when it first opened.
They held against the demon on John’s tail. Tom brought John inside and unsure of what to do, grabbed a rolling pin on the counter.
The man outside started pounding on the glass door and every time his hands touched the door, light glowed outwards, showing the invisible magic barrier around the bakery. Sparks and steams fizzled with every pound.
Despite the reddening and burns of his hands, the not-human didn’t slow down.
“ʝօɦռ....ʏօʊ ӄռօա ȶɦǟȶ ɨȶ'ֆ օռʟʏ ǟ ʍǟȶȶɛʀ օʄ ȶɨʍɛ ɮɛʄօʀɛ ɨ ɮʀɛǟӄ ȶɦʀօʊɢɦ ȶɦɛֆɛ աǟʀɖֆ. օռƈɛ ɨ ɢɛȶ ʏօʊ,” He laughs, the sound sends chills down the large man’s spine, “ȶɦɛʀɛ ǟʀɛ ֆօ ʍǟռʏ ȶɦɨռɢֆ ɨ ɦǟʋɛ քʟǟռռɛɖ ʄօʀ ʏօʊ.”
Tom knew that Marinette’s father was a con man. Come on, Master and Practitioner of the Dark Arts and Occult. But he was a good father nonetheless despite all his flaws and Sabine liked him enough so that was good enough for him.
Before today, magic was just the sleight of hands and use of fancy tools to sell the illusions. Now, with a could-be-a-demon knocking on his door to get to the father of the girl he sees as his daughter, he’s not so sure.
“Tom? Qu'est-ce qui se passe? (What’s going on?)” A little voice came from the stairs, “Dad!” Marinette padded across the floor to the body of her passed out father.
She shook him awake and there were a few soft slaps to the face.
“Dad, what’s happened?”
John mumbles, “Demon…. possessing some rich guy….. Exorcism…. Doesn’t like me very much…Don’t worry...wards going to hold.”
John manages to stand before falling down and Tom catches him before he hits the floor. He has a concussion. Tom turns to Marinette, “Go, Hide and don’t come out until It’s safe.” which she did
Unfortunately, a while later, Sabine returns from her night out and the demon upon seeing Sabine. “ɛӼƈɛʟʟɛռȶ..”
The demon possessed Sabine and the previously possessed dude hit the sidewalk with a thud.
“ɨռȶɛʀɛֆȶɨռɢ....” The voice coming out of Sabine didn’t sound like her mother which scared Marinette a lot. “օքɛռ ȶɦɨֆ ɖօօʀ օʀ,”the demon pulled a knife out of thin air, ,“ȶɦɨֆ ɮօɖʏ ɢɛȶֆ ɨȶ.”
Tom hesitated until the demon put the knife on Sabine’s neck and put enough force for a thin line of blood to be shown.
He opens the door and the demon knocks him out. Stepping over his unconscious body and looking down on it, “ʄօʀ ȶɦǟȶ, ɨ ǟʍ ɢօɨռɢ ȶօ ʟɛȶ ʏօʊ ʟɨʋɛ ʊռȶɨʟ ɨ ǟʍ ɖօռɛ աɨȶɦ ʝօɦռ, օʄ ƈօʊʀֆɛ.” and cackles. The sound was so wrong and unnerving and little Marinette tried very hard for her sobs not to be heard.
Too bad the demon had super hearing. “Come out, my little blossom. Maman is home. Why don’t you come out and give me a hug?”
It sounded so much like her mother and she nearly believed that it was her mother and not some entity in control of her body.
But she knew better from John’s stories of dealing with demons and how they would use the voice of loved ones to lure them out and into a trap. (Definitely not something one should tell as a bedtime story but Marinette was very different and had an unconventional childhood with John Constantine as her father.)
Wait...she got struck with an idea but she wasn’t sure if it would work.
Before she could do anything, the door of the cabinet she was hiding in was opened and she was dragged out.
The demon lifted her a few feet above the ground by the collar of her dress.
It heard Marinette saying something. “աɦǟȶ ǟʀɛ ʏօʊ ֆǟʏɨռɢ ƈɦɨʟɖ, ֆքɛǟӄ ʟօʊɖɛʀ?”
“Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica.” Marinette was now screaming the words at the top of her lungs. She repeated the spell over and over again with fierce determination.
John, being his paranoid self, taught her the spell for an exorcism, just in case. Demons spared no one, not even a girl.
It screamed “NO….” as Sabine’s body contorted in strange angles before a dark shadow seemed to be dragged down into the ground. It made a desperate attempt to possess John before it was pulled away and disappeared. There was no sign that there was a demon attack.
After John woke up, he managed to piece together that his 5-years-old (Sorry 5 and a half) daughter sent a demon back to hell.
He was a very proud dad. (He was a tad worried about the consequences from this event and demons hold one hell of a grudge. He wanted his daughter to live a very safe and happy life. The bakery’s wards also need an upgrade.)
He also got the job of explaining what he actually did to Tom. And lots of reassuring.
Sabine, on one hand, was not happy that Marinette knew how to do magic. That is until John told her that he did it just in case so she can protect herself and later it was agreed that Marinette can learn some Magic spells and charms to better protect herself and when she is older, she can decide if she wants to continue or not.

Submitted Prompt: Guardian, Not Babysitter
A very simple AU that changes everything: When Marinette inherits the Miracle Box and the Kwami are released....
she doesn't suddenly become the cosmic babysitter to 12+ immortal, all-powerful toddlers.
She instead gains the mentorship and guidence of 12+ immortal, all-powerful gods who are actually wise and responsible and can help guide Marinette to success on her journey, not only as a superhero, but through the rest of her life as well, becoming friends and confidants, and staying so, even after Marinette uses her new Guardian Abilities to break their shackles and free from from the command of their holders.
An AU where being Guardian is an actual tangible benefit, not an excuse to further torment Marinette.

Oh I am absolutely in love with your wish me away au!! I adore it. Do u have any other headcannons? What happens when she grows older? How did they wish her away? Was it Emile that wished her away? If she grows up might the class or Adrien recognize her? Ooooh I adore this it's so fluffy but so much angst potential and has just the write balance! Thanks for making this au, it's wonderful. Imagine her meating Manon or Ella and Etta when she's older because they wouldn't be that far apart in age?
AAAAAAA That makes me so happy!!!! Thank you!
I do! I will give a little here so I can answer everything in the ask!
Headcanons:
• When Marietta grows up she starts an underground bakery at school where she sells her baked goods for lower prices than what the school asks for snacks since her father insists she goes to a "fancy" school. She got teachers involved so they don't snitch on her. Her brothers find out and are scared if not proud of her.
• The family always fought about who would get to carry Mari when they were out in public or roll her stroller, Alfred had to observe and make sure they stuck to Rock, Paper, Scissors and not into actual combat as he's caught them in before. Everyone just wants to be the one to be in the pictures the news and paparazzi will no doubt take, with Mari
• Marietta is that one kid that has an insane amount of things stored in their bag. It's like Maggie Cromwell's bag in Halloween Town, the amount of things is staggering. One girl cried that she had broke her friendship bracelet with her friend and Mari dead ass just pulled put a container of beads and rubber thread out so the girl could fix the bracelet and replace any beads that got lost.
What Happens When She Gets Older:
She becomes a vigilante much like her family, though they aren't pleased about it. When she gets older she tries not to use the Miraculi as much as she did when she was younger, she doesn't want to attract any unwanted attention. So she mainly uses the Ladybug, Mouse, Fox, and Snake Miraculi in Gotham, though she is very careful about being Ladybug.
She finds out there are other Miraculi out there and hopes to one day track them all down.
How Did She Get Wished Away:
This was answered before but I'll explain it again! So when Adrien betrayed Marinette and gave Gabriel her earrings to make the wish. Gabriel combined the Cat and Ladybug earrings and made the wish to bring back Emily but he specifically said he wanted her back for him and Adrien. While the wish was made it took what was most important to Gabriel, and Adrien, but since Adrien didn't directly make the wish Tikki and all the Kwami found a loophole and they made a wish for Marinette to go somewhere safe and a place to be loved because they could feel her life-force fading. Gabriel lost Nathalie in exchange for Emilie, and Adrien, as far as he knows, lost Ladybug. I say Ladybug because though he thought Marinette was special and a great friend, he only really loved Ladybug, and that kind of helped play into the loophole.
Did Emilie Wish Her Away:
Nope! But she does feel responsible.
When She Grows Up, Does The Class And Adrien Recognize Her:
I wrote a little thing where she went back to Paris and her old class did. They're not sure it's her, like they don't have proof, but she looks exactly like she did in their past. Some think she's just someone who looks a lot like their past classmate, some think it could be reincarnation, and there is a small few who fully believe it is her.
Would She Be Friends With Etta, Ella, or Manon:
Unfortunately no since they are older than her. Manon by 7 years, Etta and Ella by 9 years. But they would like her nonetheless I think! Manon has always wanted to be an older sister and Etta and Ella think they would be great babysitters.
Thank you so much for loving this au and having an interest in it!!! It makes me so so happy!!!

Fanfiction Prompt
AU where Manon (14) is older than Marinette (8), and her babysitter. Manon: “If I ask out Noel to the movies, do I just call him up or text him? Or is that too impersonal and I need to talk to him? Hmmm.” Marinette: “Wha-what?! But you can’t just DO THAT!” Manon: “Marinette, we’ve been over this, you don’t have to—“ Marinette: “You need to plan for all possibilities, like what if he doesn’t like the movie, you need another movie, and if he doesn’t like that one you have to abandon the movie and go for the park, and at the park you got to have a rickshaw set up but also you have to make it seem like it’s not just cause you want to confess to him cause what if he thinks it’s weird so you have to act like you don’t have a crush on him! And then….” Manon: “At this rate, she’ll never confess to that boy…”

Background info for the Mominette AU
I guess I should warn you guys that the next part is going to be super angsty. Like I had to rewrite it to make it slightly less angsty.
Anyway, here's some information about the Mominette AU as a whole since I'm keeping the chapters short. (This starts with Day 11: Mominette)
So Marinette is Bruce's older sister.
After their parents died Marinette did her best to take care of her brother.
And when Bruce left, you know to train and stuff, Marinette freaked out
She then left to find him to make sure he was okay.
That's when she stumbled into the ruins of the miraculous temple.
Among the ruins she found a man, weeping, holding a box to his chest.
That man was master fu.
As soon as he saw Marinette, Master fu knew that she was perfect for the Ladybug miraculous.
He tried to convince her to train with him, but Marinette refused until she found her brother.
Once she learned that he was safe, Marinette accepted Fu's offer because Marinette thought that with a miraculous she could protect Bruce, who was too stubborn to listen to her when she begged him to go home.
Master Fu trained her to use the Ladybug miraculous as well as the cat miraculous at first. As well as how to use the miracle book.
(The Miracle book is not lost but the butterfly and peacock miraculous are.)
Then he started teaching her about the other miraculous. How to use them and also taught her about the miraculous that were lost with the Feast incident.
Then one day when Marinette woke up and found the miraculous box and book, but Master fu was gone.
The box itself had changed. (No ugly egg but the design was different.l
Marinette realized that Master Fu was not only training her to become Ladybug but also to become the next guardian.
She didn't like it, but she didn't have much choice.
So she went back to Gotham, where she found her little brother going out as "batman"
And when she found out her reaction was like the John Mulaney quote that goes "You ever have those days where you’re like: 'This might as well happen'"
She upgrades his suit though, and infuses it with creation magic.
Then one day, Bruce appears at her door with a kid.
After hearing his story, Marinette understands why Bruce decided to take him in and tries to do her best to help him.
Dick and Mari are very close, so much so that Bruce is a little jealous.
Time passes, and Marinette is traveling when she hears about the boy who stole the tires of the batmobile
Marinette is offended that Bruce didn't tell her
So she goes back and sneaks into the wayne manor using the Cat miraculous, and finds her new nephew.
"Hey kid, wanna prank Bruce?"
Needless to say she gets payback
And Jason ADORES his new aunt.
He goes to her apartment so often that Marinette gave him a key.
Bruce is definitely jealous, but tries to deny it.
He and Marinette get into a huge fight because Marinette doesn't want Jason to go out as robin.
This is also one of the reasons why Marinette doesn't want to tell Bruce that Damian is his son. She doesn't want Damian to be trained from a young age to become a vigilante. (See Day 11 for how Marinette got Damian)
Speaking of Damian, Marinette let Jason babysit once. But there was an incident involving a microwave, croissants and pizza rolls.
Jason was not allowed to babysit or touch food in Marinette's kitchen ever again.
Bruce knows that Damian came from the League but doesn't know he's his and Talia's son.
Alfred knows obviously
And Dick is a great babysitter.
For a couple of years everything is great, but then one day everything changes
See Day 15 to find out what happened.

promises, promises: part iv
Note: We make the switch to Marinette for the first time!
[FIRST][AO3][PREVIOUS]
-
Marinette knew Felix had problems regarding his older brother. She knew that he adored his brother and while Adrien Agreste loved his little brother to bits and pieces, he still allowed mean little lycee girls to waltz into their lives and make Felix miserable. Mean little lycée girls who would purposely drop by the house unexpected and monopolize all of Adrien’s time while little Felix was forced to wait patiently for his turn to play with his brother.
Well, it was Marinette’s turn to impose.
She’d had enough of this.
The sight of Felix, little seven-year-old Felix who only wanted to make egg tarts with his big brother, standing by himself outside her bedroom door, bottom lip wobbling had Marinette flying out of her house, intent on hunting down his older brother.
Adrien wasn’t a bad person, and Marinette knew this.
She was aware that he would never purposely hurt Felix, but nobody was opening their mouth and it was time for Marinette to step in.
She had a crying child nestled in her bed, blubbering incoherently to her pet canary, with no older brother to account for because said older brother’s alleged girlfriend--Marinette was about 99% positive that the girl had lied to Felix--had overstepped her bounds, Felix reacted, and Adrien chose to scold Felix.
Marinette knew from experience how mean Felix could be, which was most likely why Adrien stepped in, but since picking up cooking and spending more time at her house, bit by bit, the teen had seen a change in the young child.
He was happier.
Brighter.
He was more childlike.
At first first glance, the Felix Agreste you would come in contact with would be a grumpy little kid. A stubborn little kitten who insisted that he didn’t need any dumb babysitter in his life, nor did he need his father smothering him so much with so many rules.
Marinette remembered very well what Felix was like only a few months ago.
“Felix, did you finish your lunch?”
“I already told you, I’m not eating that.”
“Why not?”
“It’s crap!”
Marinette rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on. She was going on day 3 of babysitting Felix, and the little boy still had yet to actually behave himself. Marinette briefly considered giving him back to Nathalie and quitting, but there was something about Felix that made Marinette want to try.
After all, he was only 6 years old.
There was still time for him to learn proper manners.
Felix curled up on the living room sofa, frowning at the TV. Marinette noted that he hadn’t moved from the spot in nearly two hours.
She sighed.
“Felix, did you want to go outside? Would you like fresh air?”
“No,” Felix snapped, “I just want to be left alone, Marian.”
“Marinette,” she corrected.
“Whatever. Go away, you’re bugging me,” Felix pushed his plate of untouched food towards her, “And take this slop with you. I’m not eating that.”
She frowned, “Is there something wrong with your lunch?”
“Yeah, you made it.”
Eye twitching, the teenager snatched Felix’s plate and took it to the kitchen. She quickly turned the knob of the sink and let the water fill the sunk, its warmth sinking into her fingers. She scrubbed the dishes and let her mind wander, tuning out the noise from the TV.
This was quite some predicament she was in.
She was babysitting a child who consistently disobeyed her and never displayed any signs of being happy. Had she ever heard him laugh? Seen him smile? Felix was 6! Children laugh and smile and play outside and are lovely and carefree; they don’t coop themselves up in the house all day watching the news.
Marinette wrinkled her nose.
Nathalie had warned her of Felix’s attitude, but to actually experience it first-hand?
God. She hoped she’d be able to make it through the summer with this child.
A high-pitched chirp caught Marinette’s attention, bringing her out of her reverie. She’d recognize that noise anywhere. Whirling around to the source of the noise, Marinette stopped abruptly.
Tikki had managed to fly out of her cage again, this time making her way down into the living room and settling comfortably in Felix’s hair, which was quite normal for the canary.
What wasn’t quite normal was the awed look young Felix had on his face as Tikki nestled in his locks of golden hair, her cheeps soft to everyone’s ears. Marinette watched as Felix slowly reached up to hold the bird, gently plucking her of his head and bringing her down so that he’d see her.
Almost uncharacteristically, Felix softly stroked the top of Tikki’s head.
“Hello, there...” he quietly murmured. Marinette closely observed the hints of a smile forming on Felix’s face as he continued to talk to Tikki, who in turn, excitedly sang to the little boy.
The expression of pure wonder and amazement and the telltale signs of actual happiness gave Marinette the impression that Felix wasn’t as bad as he wanted her to think.
No, she was optimistic that he was a delight to be around. A lovely and vibrant child.
“Felix? Did you want to see Tikki fly on the veranda? We could even bring food up and have a little picnic since it’s nice outside.”
“Huh? Oh...well...I guess that’ll be okay. I’m a little hungry.”
Marinette just had to look a little harder to find that child.
The park that Felix ran from was right across the street from the bakery. She didn’t have to look to hard to find who she was looking for. Adrien Agreste was on his feet, frantically looking for who Marinette could only assume was Felix. To Adrien’s left was a young attractive woman about the same age.
She seemed unfazed by Felix’s disappearance.
Marinette drew closer.
“Lila, I need to find Felix!” Adrien said, “He knows he isn’t supposed to run off on his own.”
“I’m sure he’s fine,” the girl named Lila reassured, “Just give hime space. Besides this isn’t the first time he’s done it. You know how kids are. He probably went to that babysitter’s house that he always talks about. What was her name again? Marie? Marian?”
Marinette couldn’t help but to make her presence known.
“It’s Marinette.”
Adrien was gaping like a fish, watching helplessly as Marinette appeared. Lila didn’t appear intimidated by Felix’s babysitter’s emergence, despite Marinette’s unimpressed stare.
“You’re Adrien?” Marinette asked.
“I’m...yes, that’s me.”
“Good, you’re coming with me,” she said, making a reach for Adrien’s wrist. Strong fingers wound around his wrist and she pulled, gently tugging Adrien in her direction.
Adrien looked gobsmacked. He stammered, “E-Excuse me?”
“You heard me,” Marinette said, “You’re coming with me. I have a crying child in my room, and the only thing I can get out of him is ‘I want my brother,’ so here I am.”
“But why would Felix say that he wants his brother when he literally just ran away from him?” Lila questioned, hands on her hips, “He was misbehaving earlier and Adrien had to discipline him.”
“Hey,” Marinette snapped, “I’m not here asking you to get your brother. I am telling you. I don’t know what happened here, but it’s clearly upset Felix. And while I’m talking to you, Adrien, are you aware of how distressed he’s been lately?”
Adrien was stunned, “What do you mean distressed?”
She huffed, “Think about it. Felix is a 7-year-old all alone in his house with his only sibling is gone for a month. You come back and, naturally, he wants to spend time with you, and he’s excited. So excited that he actually learns dozens of baking recipes from my bakery to show his big brother, but what happens instead?”
When Adrien didn’t answer, Marinette continued.
“Instead of hanging out, Felix is still left alone because his brother keeps postponing their arrangements to hang out with other people,” Marinette said, “Apparently, your new girlfriend has been giving Fe a really hard time lately.”
Marinette gave Lila and pointed stare.
“My what?!” Adrien gawked. “Wait, wait, wait...that’s why he’s upset?!”
“The negligence or the girlfriend? Because he’s pretty upset about both.”
“I don’t have a girlfriend though,” Adrien replied, turning over to Lila, “Did you say something to him?”
“No,” she replied, folding her arms over her chest, “What makes you think that? You know your brother. He’s probably just being a 7-year-old.”
“Yeah,” Marinette cut in, “He’s a 7-year-old who feels like you are not only lying to him, but you’re straight up bullying him.”
“He could be lying to you.” Lila challenged.
Marinette watched in the corner of her eye as Adrien’s head snapped up at Lila, mouth agape, “He wouldn’t do that,” he murmured.
“No,” Marinette agreed, “He wouldn’t. But apparently you did, Lila.” Marinette looked behind Lila, finding an open box of cookies abandoned on the picnic blanket.
Felix was unconsolable. Not even a pain au chocolat could cox him out of Marinette’s arms.
“Fe, it’s okay,” Marinette soothed, hugging Felix closely to her, “They’re just cookies.”
“No!” Felix whimpered, “We worked all day on those cookies. It’s not right! It took me a long time to get the recipe right and I wanted Adrien to try them! It’s not fair...”
Marinette sighed, “No, I guess it isn’t fair.”
“Marinette...I just want my brother,” Felix cried, “Is that so hard? I just want to be with Adrien.”
“I know, Fe. I know.”
Marinette admitted to herself that she had a ruthless side; she knew that she was presumptuous and impulsive and could even be harsh in the face of injustice. Sometimes it backfired on her and sometimes it served her well. This was one of those moments where it was quite useful.
She approached the blanket, scooped a cookie up, and popped it into her mouth, chewing slowly. Out of the corner of her eye, Lila and Adrien were watching her closely.
She chuckled, “Oh, this was from the batch he mixed last night.”
“How can you tell?” Adrien asked.
“I know my family’s cookie recipe anywhere. And once you’re familiar with Fe’s preferences, it’s pretty easy to tell that he was responsible for this batch. Felix is more generous on the vanilla bean than I am. I can taste a bit of the almost extract he added when he was experimenting, so this must be the special for today,” she explained, “Fe also prefers cutting the chocolate chunks into larger pieces and uses darker chocolates instead of semi-sweet like my Papa does.”
“So...Felix did make these...”
“He did,” Marinette glanced at Lila, “Y’know, he takes a lot of pride in his cooking. I get why you’d want to make a good impression, but this isn’t how you do it.”
Lila’s face lit up in shame; she looked away, unable to look at Adrien or Marinette.
“And you,” Marinette said, gently grabbing his shoulder, “I don’t know you and I’m not here to judge your clearly questionable sense of judgement in potential partners. I’m just here because Felix is really hurt by all of this and you, need to come with me to make things right because Fe’s been bummed all week and I do not need a sad child in my room all the time, okay? It’s not healthy.”
Slowly, Adrien nodded.
Marinette beamed, “Wonderful.”
The silence that fell between the three teenagers quickly became uncomfortable. Judging by Lila’s inability to look in their direction and Adrien’s restlessness, Marinette felt that she should probably excuse herself from the situation.
After all, it was probably going to be her fault for potentially ruining Lila’s chances with Adrien.
(She only felt half bad about it too.)
Marinette began to back away.
“I’m gonna give you two space, make sure you come get Fe, okay? We’re at 12 Rue Gotlieb; just come in through the side door. See you in a few.” she turned away from Adrien and Lila, already making her short trek across the road, “And it was nice meeting you, Lila!”
Marinette disappeared behind the grove of trees that faced her house, feeling quite accomplished.
She’d done her part.
Now, it was up to Adrien to make things right.
