A variety of objects from different ages and cultures are displayed on the shelves by the fireplace; these include Nautilus shells, a Yucatan clay whistle, a pre-Columbian statue of a man and a dog, an Irish penal cross, a clay cup from the wreck of a seventeenth-century Spanish galleon, a Mexican clay whistle, bamboo coral from Hawaii, a Russian battle icon, African snuff bottles and pots, and Ashanti gold weights.

Immortal Life
Hey guys, here to recommend a video game. This one was recced to me by....someone on here. Sorry I can't remember who it was, but it's been a solid month or so and that post wasn't tagged (cause I was complaining about another game.)
Immortal Life is a Steam game in early access currently. It's a farming sim set in a cultivation sect. Yeah, that's right, it's Stardew Valley but Xianxia!
Tumblr media
There's my little farm (all photos in this post are from my game).
The premise is that you are restoring a cultivation sect that was destroyed in a tragedy. So in addition to farming to provide food and to sell for $, you are gathering resources to rebuild the sect building by building.
Tumblr media
As it goes on, you are trying to attract lecturers to improve your cultivation and "level up" your skills.
As you can see, the art is really pretty, and when combined with incredibly soothing traditional music, it's so freaking relaxing.
Tumblr media
The setting is equally aesthetic, with a variety of shops and NPCs. All dialogue is in Chinese with well done English subtitles. I've only found a couple of typos so far in the game.
In addition to standard farming, fishing (more Animal Crossing style than SDV), and dungeon crawling, there's also crafting with wood and bamboo, and a pretty fun cooking minigame.
Tumblr media
The dungeon crawling is fun, with cultivation based ranged and spell attacks rather than simple sword slashing.
So far it's pretty well-developed. I've been playing a LOT of early access games in the last year and this one is pretty polished and has a lot of content already. (I haven't run into any end of content yet after 15 hours.) It's a lot more complete than say Coral Island is so far, for example.
Anyway, I'm having an absolute blast with this game. I recommend it to any fans of this genre of game, but it's ESPECIALLY nice to experience being in danmei fandom and having a lot of familiarity with the setting and cultural touchstones.
It's a Chinese-made game, so it's made for an audience who understand what cultivation is. It's not explained or dumbed down for an English audience. I don't know if it would be really confusing for someone totally unfamiliar with the Xianxia genre, but the game is clear enough in walking you through the actual game tasks.
I haven't gotten far enough to really be able to speak to how the relationships develop or any romance options. So far, just getting tiny bits of approval is a little bit of a chore. But that's how it goes.
Tumblr media
So I think it's very worth checking out. Full price is $19.99, I got it in the recent Steam sale for a little less.

A deep-sea coral's secret weapon against hungry predators—sweeper tentacles.
A bamboo coral’s stony branches contain thousands of tiny polyps living and working together. The individual polyps stretch feathery tentacles into the currents to grasp plankton and other particles of food drifting in the currents.
When predators like nudibranchs and sea stars try to make a meal of a coral’s polyps, the colony can put up a fight. These fleshy sweeper tentacles are loaded with powerful stinging cells that gently sway along the base of this shaggy bamboo coral (Isidella tentaculum) to keep predators from crawling up to eat those precious polyps.

wait what did they do
Watch this video from Xisuma for the full story. But the quick version is Mojang is trying to make villagers more balanced by 1) having librarians no longer trade enchanted books exclusive to fishing rods, tridents, and crossbows, 2) making high-tier enchantments like mending and silk touch biome exclusive, 3) fixing the infinite price decreases from curing villagers, 4) giving wandering traders more trades including being able to give them items for emeralds and letting them trade you wood and enchanted iron pickaxes.
This all just seems very counterintuitive. It makes getting good enchantments harder for beginning-game and less experienced players by making them go out to find a swamp biome just to get mending. Yes, you have to get mending, a villager exclusive book you cannot get from an enchanting table, from a swamp librarian, a biome where villages do not naturally spawn.
If that isn’t bad enough, a friend pointed out to me that superflat and skyblock players have been asking for changes to the wandering trader for years. Except, they’ve been asking for things like coral fans and bamboo, not wood logs and iron pickaxes they can easily farm materials to get. It seems pretty condescending to change wandering traders to trade readily available items and not changes that have been wanted for ages.
It really just feels like Mojang isn’t listening to what players actually want; they just hear the basics of our problems and think they have the solution.

Aquarium
CW: None just fluff really, Established Relationship, Intended for Fem reader ,Not proofread 💞
Tumblr media
“Toji did you see that one!” You exclaim pointing at the jellyfish flowing freely in the tank,Swaying and swishing with each false tide the aquarium replicates.
“I saw it Angel-” he looks down at you, your gaze already fixated on the raven haired man
All of the jellyfishes were moving and bobbing behind the glass,The lights hitting the jellyfish to reveal all their secrets. Tiny swirls and dots of pattern engraved in their heads To the way their legs shift in and out of auburn to gold with ten light.
There’s so many of them-The little sea nettles.
Not a care in the world,Truth be honest you can’t even remember the last time you’ve gone to an aquarium. The time seems too long to even remember.
Something squeezes your hand,Dragging you out of your rambling.
“You alright kid?” He offers you his other hand like an anchor for stability. You nod and control search the deep cerulean tank walls.
What is it like for them?
You wonder…Is it thoughtless? Do they feel if we touch them? Are they all friends?
Staring up at the plaque just next to all of the jelly’s.And with each word you settle on one thought.
Being a Jelly would be sooo amazing.
“I’m okay Toji.” Your smile assured him, full of childish curiosity and he gave one back-Rougher but enough to move you to the next exhibit.
All sorts of sea creatures catch your eyes; wether it’s bright tropical fish or little guys with oddly placed eyes, even the coral is amazing to look at with its intricate structure and beautiful colors.
Most you could even say are adorable.
Even the basking tank for the sharks.
Staring into the water you point one out-
“That one looks like you!” You jest lightly elbowing him in the abdomen, He scoffs
“Absolutely not kid” and he looks through the tank “why not that one?” He points at a horned shark-It swims away almost knowing his acknowledgment.
“Cause.” Your antics make him roll his eyes, his jaw slightly clenching
“Cause???” He urges you on.
“The one I chose is a cute shark” You laugh and look back and forth between the shark and your agitated boyfriend
“And mine isn’t?” He argues studying the shark that runs away from his gaze.
“I’m just saying mine is better.” You shrug and smile at your accomplishment.
“What type of shark is it?” His question is
uncharacteristically curious. And a whole bunch of things click; All of the time you two have spent watching documentaries on the ocean and Watching the fish move with the tides while the two of you don’t.
He’s never been to an aquarium before.
“I think it’s a bamboo shark.” You try to rack back memories of your childhood, moving past all or miniature phases that once grasped your entire mind.
You look up just in time to see his lips move around the words. He notices it flushes in embarrassment but doesn’t comment on it.
“I guess it’s kinda cute.” A light blush covers his cheeks and he squints his eyes at you.
“Cheeky thing you are, huh?” He pinches your left cheek in slight retaliation- giggling as he grips your waist dragging you close to him. Planting one kiss onto your forehead.
And you both continue to meander throughout the aquarium making fun of the little sea snakes in the sand and admiring the seals flipping around on the ice.The keepers joyously feeding and playing with the seals.
It’s different to see him so involved and engaged in something so simple like an aquarium.
It’s oddly adorable.
A screech tears you away from your thoughts,Toji’s too as he whips around to where the sound comes from.
It’s from a lady, looking around frantically as I overhear her ask “where’s my kid!?”
You walk towards her asking for details of the kid eagerly trying to help her.
“He’s short, black hair and eyes and is about 7” she calms herself to speak to you her hands shaking while she calls for him “that kids name”
And when you turn around,Toji is gone.
You grumble a few choice words of anger before going off to search for the kid.
You search the open ocean areas for them shouting their name every once in awhile. He might be in the tide pool area! kids like that right? with your new idea in mind you turn back.
Only to see Toji with the little boy handing him off to his mom.
The sight stops your heart. He's beaming and crouched down to the kid giving him a high five saying something you can just barely hear “Your mom loves you, don’t scare her kiddo.”
Giving parting words to the mom while she thanks him repeatedly.
Your heart can’t help but ache at the man approaching you looking relieved as he runs a hand through his hair mindlessly.
He shakes his head letting out a deep breath
“Your good with kids.” you smile dotingly at him
“Really?” Toji isn’t a man of many words, but the way he smiles cheekily only makes you fall harder.
“I’d say you are” and you watch the mom and son walk away,The boy giggling and holding his mothers hand. His hands wrap around your waist- squeezing it with possessiveness that makes you squeeze your thighs together.
It doesn’t go unnoticed by him.
He kisses the back of your hand and walks away with a small wink.
*
You go up to a touching tank, lightly skimming the backs of stingrays and starfishes.
A tap on your shoulder leads you back to Tojis watchful gaze.
“Hey baby” he smiles and offers his arm up to you offering to lead you out of the closing aquarium. The two of you being some of the final guests to leave,The sun's last rays already dipping into the horizon.
By the time you sit in the car you're fighting to stay awake,Your eyes are fighting to stay awake as the car starts up- so by the time he’s on the road back home your eyes flutter close.
Unknown to your sleeping figure he rummages through a bag in the passenger seat,Placing a soft fuzzy bamboo shark plushie into your limo arms.
And you unconsciously squeeze your little gift,He can swear his heart jumps out of his chest at the sight.
“Dumb shark-“ he scoffs looking at you sleep.
Offering you a light head pat.
“A cute one though.”
And you can’t see him smile.
Tumblr media
AN: I had lots of fun writing this one,It’s fun to dip into his character and take him in a much different direction. Hope you enjoyed this! ✨

On your slender body Your jade and coral girdle ornaments chime Like those of a celestial companion Come from the Green Jade City of Heaven. One smile from you when we meet, And I become speechless and forget every word. For too long you have gathered flowers, And leaned against the bamboos, Your green sleeves growing cold, In your deserted valley: I can visualise you all alone, A girl harbouring her cryptic thoughts.

I cannot switch my ask to my shifting blog so anon it is!
Hi! I'm Lai Lai! It's so nice to see another adult shifter! I'm in my 20's and i only see a few other adult shifters on here!
You've been shifting for a while right? Any favorite memory you wanna share? If not, that's completely fine!
I love hearing about shifters experiences and hearing them talk about their time in their dr's!
Hello there, Lai Lai~
Wow! I love your name. It's really very cute & sparkly in my brain. Lol, I'm glad I'm not the only old person in the Shifting Community. A lot of the friends I have who're close to my age have lost their whimsy. I refuse to. And so do my daydreams. I've been traveling in my sleep (and awake) since before the craze on Tiktok and only just discovered that other people were having the same experiences as me! It shocked me. But it also gave me sooo much comfort knowing that I wasn't alone... Even if I'm older than the generation who is exploring it now.
Some favorite memories from my desired realities include:
🌈 Solving a puzzle cipher out in the middle of a bamboo rainforest based on Chinese constellation mythology and discovering a jade sword afterwards. Then running into an old sage who called himself "Wang Bo" that invited me to train with said sword in order to defeat a powerful demon that lives in the rainforest. I am still training with the sword in this DR and Wang Bo is an amazingly cool teacher even if I'm a bad student lol and he doesn't get my internet jokes.
🌈 Just sitting and watching the rain in my Autumn-themed DR while keeping the hearth fire lit and drinking hot steaming tea. Listening to the wind as it blows through the golden leaves of a shivering aspen tree. The kind with eyes all up their whiter than white bark.
🌈 Time traveling in my Winter-themed DR & going to pre-historic times when mammoths had just died out to see/heal a past life that has its roots in issues that I experience in this life now. After confronting my past self, learning how the things I consider "weird" about me are actually my strengths, and hugging it out, I was able to move on emotionally, and have been in a much better place since then. I use shifting as a therapeutic tool as much as I do it for the thrill of exploring the whole multiverse.
🌈 Watching Klaus Mikaelson (from TVD/The Originals) read a book for a half an hour while being stuck as an invisible ghost in the New Orleans Mikaelson chateau. This one wasn't as fun and exciting as it was just plain memorable in general. While my other seasonally-based DRs are more in my control, anything to do with the Mikaelsons have been...unscriptable, unpredictable, and very vivid. Sometimes I feel like someone from that universe is summoning me there rather than me consciously deciding to be there.
🌈 Drinking at an ocean-themed neon nightclub in a futuristic world made completely out of plastic and enjoying all the weird colorful cocktails at the bar. The place was called Club O. It looked like a giant blue glass tower shaped like a 〰️ that speared a pirate's ship being consumed by a coral pink octopus 🐙 kraken. The tentacles the kraken had moved on their own and the suckers were made of LED lights that lit up the entire establishment. The tentacles also held huge glass bubbles 🫧 that were different parts of Club O that you could access with a keycard...given that you had the permissions to. Those were more private parts of the club while the main stage was housed in the pirate ship. If any of you shifters ever get to go there, I recommend you try the Monterran Sunset and the Neptune's Swill. Both drinks are a favorite of mine. ❤️
A lot of my DRs are seasonally-based and run on very light/no scripting. I really crave the fun and adventure of not knowing what my DR will throw at me at any given moment. So, every shift feels like anything could happen! Right now I've been putting a lot of focus on my TVD/Originals DR because the Mikaelsons have been yanking on my brain really hard and at this point I'm like:
Tumblr media
I'll be probably talking about that DR first before I open up about my more personal, seasonal DRs. Thank you for sending me this ask, Lai Lai!
